Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

Muslim Immigration and the Future of Europe: Where’s the Democracy?

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate! )

The Canadian writer and broadcaster Mark Steyn asks a simple but fundamentally searching question about the problem of Islamic terrorism in Western society today, a question that few mainstream liberal politicians want even to acknowledge, let alone attempt to answer.

The simple question Steyn asks is: What’s the happy ending here?

In other words, Steyn is asking if Islamic terror in the West, and Europe in particular, is ever going to end and allow us to get back to normal living, to get back to those days when Islam didn’t dominate our news screens, back to those days when we weren’t threatened on our living-room TV screens with beheading if we did not show “respect”, or has Islamic terrorism now become a major and integral part of our Western way of life, just as it is in the Middle East and much of the Muslim world?

Throughout the Western world today, largely because of the post Second World War liberal consensus on Muslim immigration and growing Islamic terrorism on our streets, the West’s ruling liberal clerisy is under unprecedented pressure from an enraged public.

Witness the growing electoral strength of the anti Muslim-immigration AfD party in Germany; the growing strength of the Front National in France which, although losing to Mr Macron in the recent general election, has established Muslim immigration as an issue of serious voter concern, with the FN now a major force in French politics. Witness the growing strength of Geert Wilders in the Netherlands, whose electoral support for a ban on Muslim immigration frightened the pro-immigration prime minister Mark Rutte into telling Muslims who don’t like “our values” to leave Holland. And, of course, the election of Donald Trump, whose victory over the bien pensant clerisy of America’s East and West coasts had much to do with ordinary voter concerns about security and Muslim immigration. And of Brexit, where the British people were deeply concerned about Angela Merkel’s almost unilateral open invitation to the world’s Muslims to come and settle in Europe.

The Western, but particularly the European political landscape is changing. It’s no longer simply the traditional Left/Right questions of economics that divide people, but something much more fundamental: the question of a Muslim threat to Europe’s historical identity as a Christian/secular culture. Islamic immigration is now a major defining feature of European politics.

Everyone can now see the literally bloody disastrous results of jihadist terrorism on their streets, results that far outstrip even the dire predictions of the clichéd British bogyman Enoch Powell (Powell predicted irrational inter-racial violence on Britain’s streets, not targeted and deliberate civilizational destruction).

European, American, Canadian and Australian peoples now see their towns, their cities, their airports, even their Christian churches and private homes turned into slaughtering dens by jihadi killers, many of them second and third generation “Westernised” Muslims who, according to that same Western liberal consensus, should today be fully-functioning secular Muslims enjoying the benefits of mini-skirted Muslim women and same-sex Muslim marriage.

Of course, that great liberal dream of a secularised “Western Islam” hasn’t worked out as the liberals hoped, and anyone who understood Islam always knew it never would.

Although much of the European Union political class simply will not admit it, a real inconvenient truth today is that Muslim immigration and Islamic terrorism are showing clear signs of fracturing Europe’s cultural identity. Conservative anti-immigration movements throughout Western Europe today blame not simply Muslim immigration, but Western liberalism itself for what they see as Western Europe’s political and cultural decay. Liberalism, many believe, has given Europe in particular a catastrophic and perhaps in the long term an unsolvable security problem, with jihadism now deeply embedded in Western European society.

France, for example, is still in security lockdown since the Paris 2015 gunning down of innocent teenagers and the Nice 2016 jihadi truck slaughter. Germany is in a similar state after the Munich jihadi truck attack. And now Stockholm, perhaps the most generous country to immigrants, has experienced its own truck jihad slaughter. As I write, the Louvre in Paris is under siege from an Islamic jihad attack, with much of the city’s transport closed down.

All of these jihadist outrages have in common a cowardly assault on innocent men, women and children in public areas going about their normal business. These innocents were targeted precisely because they were innocent, freedom-loving Western people, many of them so innocent in fact that they had supported the right of Muslim immigrants, including their killers, to come and live among them.

The truth is that we in the West today, but again particularly in Europe, have imported an existential threat to every basic value we hold dear.

The extraordinary truth is that today much of Continental Europe’s famed public culture of easy-going street life is now done only under armed police protection. Because of militant Islam, many people in Europe are now fearful of doing things that were once considered perfectly safe and normal, such as strolling carefree in their towns and cities, or women walking or travelling alone. In one report, a German train company, Mitteldeutsche Regiobahn, has introduced women-only carriages, apparently in response to the widely-reported Cologne sex-attacks by Muslim gangs.

These are enormous changes to our way of life in Europe today, brought about in many cases by jihadi killers in the Muslim immigrant community. In many parts of Europe, public street life is now so tense and threatening that it is dangerous to go out at night, as I personally experienced in the northern French towns of Amiens and Verdun on a First World War commemoration tour in 2015.

This, of course, is not what Muslim immigration was supposed to have been about. This was not how immigration was sold to us all those years ago, back in the Fifties, Sixties and Seventies, to a sceptical public that never wanted and never voted for large-scale immigration in the first place.

Europe’s public were always told, and still are told, in spite of evidence to the contrary, that Muslim immigration would enrich and enhance our Western way of life. Muslims, we were told, came to Europe because they valued our secular pluralist society. Be tolerant, said our European liberal class, and you will see that we are all one big happy multicultural family.

As is now patently obvious, that’s not how things have worked out, not by a long shot. Much of Western Europe’s public life today is effectively under armed guard, and all because of mass immigration and jihadist terror.

But it’s not simply, or even mainly, the past or present that is of most concern to Europeans now. It’s Europe’s future with continuing Muslim immigration and a growing Muslim population that is of most serious concern. What is Europe’s Muslim immigrant future to be like? Will there ever be an end to this Islamic violence in our European homeland?

This brings up Steyn’s simple question again: what’s the happy ending here? When is this terror threat going to end? The truck jihads, the machine-gunning of innocents, the knife attacks on police in their own homes and clergy saying Mass, the security lockdowns, the women only carriages and street police protection for what was once spontaneous free behaviour, is all this a temporary nightmare, or is this what Muslim immigration intrinsically means for Europe, a permanent terror threat that will intensify long into Europe’s future?

These are perfectly reasonable and important questions for any European to ask, and nobody should feel intimidated for asking them. Nor should anyone feel intimidated by truthful answers.

But that’s not what is happening. Western liberal political culture has effectively erected a language barrier that can criminalise honest criticism of Islam in the West today. The liberal class have appropriated the language of social justice, and any criticism of the West’s pro-Muslim immigration policies, any expressed concern about Muslim immigration and the future of Western culture is labelled “racist”, and has to break through the language barrier of liberal prejudice before even beginning to make a case.

For example, it is de rigueur for most mainstream politicians today to preface all debates about Islamic terrorism in Europe with the mantra “it has nothing to do with Islam”. Someone who may want to question that claim, or question its universality has first to prove he is not Islamophobic, something that is almost impossible to do in our liberal culture because, by definition, anyone who disagrees with the liberal claim is Islamophobic.

The fact is that the intellectually dishonest liberal/Left language barrier, where “Islamophobia” is plastered all over any reasonable criticism of Islam and Muslim immigration, makes it impossible to get an honest debate on the most urgent issues of our day: Muslim immigration, Muslim demographics and the future of Europe.

How has this intellectual dishonesty in debate come about?

The problem was always Western liberalism. Since the end of the Second World War, liberal Europe has experienced, largely because liberal Europe greatly encouraged, an immigration programme from the Muslim world the scale of which no other society in history has ever even contemplated.

Not coincidently, such an immigration programme fitted very well the new consensus among left-wing intellectuals that it was the non-white Third World native, not the now affluent and embourgeoised white industrial working class, that needed liberation from exploitative Western capitalists. Third World immigration to the welfare West was, and still is, seen as a moral crusade to “expropriate” the ill-gotten gains of the affluent West, a form of punishment and payback for years of supposed colonial exploitation.

Western Enlightenment teleological liberalism (a secular outgrowth of Christianity) has always had at its heart the assumption that the world’s civilizations are moving towards one goal: a universal Western secular culture. Third World Muslim immigration to the West was seen as part of the process that would bring about this universal goal.

Liberals simply assumed that Muslim immigrants to Europe would grasp at the chance to become freedom-loving secular liberals. They assumed that the sheer power of Europe’s traditional homogeneous secular culture would unify Muslim, Christian and secularist and eventually create a religion-free modus vivendi, turning Europe into a secular heaven on Earth, with eventually the whole world becoming an Enlightenment secular civilisation.

Alas, this liberal globalist dream, as Europe very much to its cost now knows, is over. Many of Europe’s Muslims, perhaps the vast majority of them, reject most, if not all of the West’s secular liberal programme. And who can blame them?

So too do many Westerners. The election of Donald Trump and the Brexit result are, to some degree, a rejection of what many see as a long-running Western liberal drift into anarchic, nihilistic secularism. In America and Britain, the blue-collar proletariat and much of the middle class have revolted, not just out of economic self-interest, but out of perfectly reasonable concerns about Islamic terror and the threat to Western values from relentless mass immigration.

But liberal Europe’s problems go way beyond the election of Donald Trump and Brexit. Europe now has a legacy of over fifty years of heavy Muslim immigration, and whether or not it is culturally or politically acceptable to say it, Europe now has a problem, not just with individual acts of Islamic terror, but, many would argue, with Islam itself, as even the former socialist President Hollande of France finally, after many years of denying it, admitted.

The fact is that the supposed unifying power of Europe’s traditional homogeneous culture has failed in its liberal-inspired historic task of creating a homogenised, secular modus vivendi out of Europe’s fractured mass-migrant culture. Europe today is dividing, not so much racially, but along cultural, or rather civilizational fault lines, and to any reasonable person the policy of unquestioned, never-ending large-scale Muslim immigration must now, surely, be questioned.

Yet amazingly, Europe’s liberal political class, and much of the media, are effectively in denial about the impact that Muslim immigration has had, and continues to have, on Europe’s culture and political stability.

Political correctness, misplaced sensitivity, but particularly fear, fear that speaking the truth might offend or could cause social unrest, have all combined to create throughout Europe an almost schizophrenic public mentality on anything to do with Islam. Many simply do not feel free to speak their mind on the dangers they see ahead for their continent.

The politicians say one thing, yet the ordinary people know it’s not true. There are two worlds in Europe today when it comes to Islam: one a fabrication of the liberal politicians and media, and one actually inhabited by ordinary people. The people want the truth, they want an honest debate about Islam and immigration, but suspect that the political class and the media are running scared of that debate.

In Britain, everyone knows that the press buckled under the threat of Islamic violence by refusing to publish the Muhammad cartoons. Whatever the security concerns may have been, the public can see that the press surrendered to threats, and now have little respect, particularly for the mainstream media.

Currently, many in the British media are furious at the British Government’s proposed press legislation, particularly section 40 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013. The Act will curtail the freedom of the press, they say. But of what use is this much-vaunted press freedom if the media do not have the courage to use and defend that freedom?

The fact is that much of the political class and the mainstream media simply do not speak freely and honestly about Islam, particularly about the religious and ideological source of jihadist terror and its threat to Europe’s future. As the political philosopher, John Gray — very much a traditional liberal — put it: Britain is a country “where a minority of fundamentalist Muslims that is estranged from whatever remains of a common culture, and which rejects the tacit norms of toleration that allow a civil society to reproduce itself peacefully, has effectively curbed freedom of expression about Islam in Britain today”. (Postliberalism: studies in political thought)

Even after 9/11, when one might have expected a change of tack on Muslim immigration, liberals reiterated their absolutely unquestionable mantra: “Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam” (therefore we can continue with relentless Muslim immigration). Incredibly, instead of perhaps even a moratorium on further immigration after 9/11, many Western countries actually increased Muslim immigration.

Such a denial of common-sense public concerns about Islam and immigration — many would say a denial of reality — is surely perverse. “Islam is not the problem”, insists the West’s ruling liberal political class. “We will defeat the terrorists”, says Merkel and the other EU leaders. Jihadi terrorism has nothing to do with Islam, they insist, without even considering the possibility that they might be wrong, or that they may not understand the theology of Islam, and that the concerns of the ordinary man on the street might just have a point.

“It’s just a few bad men”, liberals insist after every jihadi act of terror, and we will “take them out”, they say. And when the bad men are “taken out”, we can all go back to peaceful living, go back to secularised Muslims and secularised Christians living together in a secular pluralist state where we can all walk the streets again without fear of a lorry being driven at us, without our children being knifed because they are wearing swimwear, or being blown to bits while innocently standing in an airport queue.

Such hopes about Europe’s multicultural, multi ethnic future are surely nothing more than that — hope. It’s a refusal even to consider the historical and contemporary facts about at least certain interpretations of Islam.

While the majority of Muslims are peaceable and law-abiding, what liberals refuse to acknowledge is what more and more ordinary people in the West now understand and see as militant Islam’s historical propensity to violent cultural assertiveness, Islam’s difficulty sharing space with non-Muslims, and the fact that Islam has bloody borders right around the world, even in countries that have nothing to do with the Middle East. Peaceable, law-abiding Muslims seem to have made little difference.

Of course, Islam is not the only religion to have a bloody history. However, as Samuel Huntington wrote in his prescient book The Clash of Civilizations:

“Wherever one looks along the perimeter of Islam, Muslims have problems living peaceably with their neighbours. The question naturally rises as to whether this pattern of late-twentieth-century conflict between Muslim and non-Muslim groups is equally true of relations between groups from other civilizations. In fact, it is not. Muslims make up about one-fifth of the world’s population but in the 1990s they have been far more involved in inter-group violence than the people of any other civilization. The evidence is overwhelming.” (The Clash of Civilizations page 256)

The evidence is indeed overwhelming, and there is no reason whatsoever to believe that Europe, with its large and growing Muslim population, will escape this bloody clash of civilizations. At the very least, on any rational assessment of Europe’s immigrant-based future, Huntington’s findings would surely be a consideration in all honest and serious political debate.

The London Underground bombings, the Madrid train bombings, the Brussels airport bombing, the Paris and Nice jihad slaughter, the Berlin truck rampage, the Stockholm truck rampage, German, Swedish and Danish knife and gun attacks, all pose a disturbing question, particularly for Europeans: is Europe, after over half a century of heavy Muslim immigration, now a new Islamic jihadi front? Is Europe now a permanent part of Islam’s violent perimeter?

These are disturbing but absolutely essential questions that people in a free society must feel free to ask. That Europe might now be facing a long-term terrorist future seems to have been confirmed by the former socialist French Prime Minister Manuel Valls who, ominously, told the French people after the Nice jihadi truck outrage to “learn to live with terrorism”.

Equally, London’s socialist Muslim mayor Sadiq Khan has said terrorist acts are “part and parcel” of city life today.

What Mr Valls and Mayor Khan failed to point out is that such despicable acts of terror did not happen before large-scale Muslim immigration.

Given the level of public concern about immigration, and given the possibility that the French Prime Minister was right and that Islamic terrorism will continue to be an integral part of European life, surely all debate about Europe’s future must now address the question of whether continued Muslim immigration is compatible with the survival of European culture and Europe’s long-term security. On any reasonable assessment of Europe’s predicament, Europe must now debate whether Western European states are now, in Samuel Huntington’s phrase, an integral part of Islam’s bloody borders.

Not everyone, of course, will be so pessimistic. For those of a more positive outlook, it could be argued that Europe’s security forces will manage to contain Islamic violence within certain “acceptable levels”, in Reginald Maudling’s phrase about IRA violence.

To that end, “learning to live with terrorism” might well be the only rational, long-term strategy our liberal political elite have to offer us. Under the protection of what might be some form of martial law, “normal” life could continue and Europe’s cultural values maintained.

But such a prospect, even if one were prepared to accept it, is surely wishful thinking. It is a common belief that sharia law, for example, is a product of Islamic fundamentalism. Defeat the fundamentalists, Western liberal governments say, and you nullify or defeat sharia. If you nullify sharia in Europe, then multicultural secular Europe will be at peace. A non-sharia Islam, or an Islam that dissolves on contact with Europe’s hedonistic and consumerist culture, seems to be the Western liberal’s idea of an ideal Westernised Islam.

The idea of a non-sharia Islam was, and still is, a common hope in Western liberal thought; but it is almost certainly a mistake. Sharia law is not a product of fundamentalism, but in fact is a product of ordinary mainstream Islam. The Irish writer, Conor Cruise O’Brien (another traditional liberal) has this to say on the attempt to distinguish fundamentalist and non-fundamentalist Islam:

“Fundamentalist Islam is a misnomer which dulls our perceptions in a dangerous way. It does so by implying that there is some other kind of Islam, which is well disposed to those who reject the Koran. There isn’t. Islam is a universalist, triumphalist and political religion. It claims de jure dominion over all humanity.” (Independent, Jan 5, 1995)

This was written in 1995, before large-scale Islamic terrorism in the West.

The fact is that Western consumerist materialist culture has not, as hoped, weaved its magic on Europe’s successive generations of Muslims. Today’s younger generation of European Muslims is even more committed to sharia than were earlier generations, an intriguing example of Islamic indigenization taking root, not in a Muslim country but right in the heart of secular/Christian Europe.

So, on any reasonable assessment, there will be no sharia-free Islam in Europe. Several opinion polls of Europe’s Muslims have shown large numbers to be strongly supportive of sharia law, and not just for Muslims, but for everyone. Many Muslims believe sharia should be the main legal source in their new European homeland.

A German government-funded study (WZB Berlin Social Science Centre) of Moroccan and Turkish immigrants in Europe found that 65 percent believed that sharia law is more important to them than the laws of the country in which they live.

In the Irish Republic, where Islam is now the fastest growing religion, 57% of Muslims, according to one poll, want the country ruled by sharia law. In Britain, according to some polls, 40% of Muslims support sharia law for the whole of the UK.

On that basis, it is perfectly reasonable to claim that, with an ever-growing Muslim population in Europe, by sheer demographic weight sharia law will gradually begin to elbow-out and replace traditional Western values over large areas of the Continent.

It’s already happening. Today in many European countries, the deliberate self-segregation of Muslims is gradually creating semi-Balkanised communities in many of Europe’s cities, where secular pluralist values are explicitly rejected and where deeply conservative, even illegal Muslim traditions are reinforced.

There are now in Britain’s heavily Muslim areas well-established sharia courts or “councils”, dispensing “justice” according to Islamic law, mainly in matters of marriage, inheritance and divorce. According to lawyer Aina Khan as reported in the Daily Telegraph of 2015, there are up to 100,000 sharia “marriages” in Britain, many of them polygamous.

These marriages are not recognised under UK law but, either out of indifference or liberal accommodation, or even out of a craven deference to Muslim demands, the authorities condone and encourage these polygamous relationships by tailoring welfare entitlements to the many vulnerable wives and children. The British taxpayer is effectively reinforcing the consolidation and spread of fundamentalist Muslim culture in Britain.

Germany has similar concerns, with the German courts regularly incorporating sharia principles into mainstream law, where polygamous marriages are recognised for all welfare entitlements, provided the “marriages” were legally performed in a Muslim country.

In France, Muslim demographics and violence are creating hardened separate cultural identities. Almost routine Muslim banlieue riots have turned large tracts of French cities into no-go areas, except for the riot police and fire-fighters to douse the torched cars.

And such rioting has little to do with the by now boring liberal excuse of social injustice or “Islamophobia”. As the writer, Andrew Hussey put it in his disturbing book The French Intifada, the Muslim banlieue gangs who rioted and torched cars in 2007 were shouting Na’al abouk La France — Fuck France: “the rioters, the wreckers, even the killers of the banlieues are not looking for reform — They are looking for revenge.”

Clearly, many French Muslims do not want to live in French secular culture; they want to live as Muslims under sharia law, but in welfare France. And of course, such hardened separate identities are reinforced by continuing large-scale Muslim immigration from poor and traditional Muslim societies, with welfarism locking them into a state of permanent dependence and permanent grievance, with rioting as a way of extracting more money out of the state.

The ruling liberal establishment in the EU are in denial about the true significance of what is happening in many of Europe’s cities. They acknowledge there’s a problem, but with the usual platitudes deny it has anything to do with Muslim immigration and the self-segregation and cultural separateness favoured by many Muslims. Again and again it’s the same old “social injustice” and “Islamophobia” story. Invest more taxpayers’ money in Muslim communities and end Islamophobia, they say. Europeans must change their ways and pay more tax, then we will have an integrated, happy pluralist society.

For most ordinary people in Europe today this liberal explanatory model is little more than an insult to their intelligence. It simply does not account for what people see and experience in their own towns and cities across the European Continent.

It is now an observable fact that the appearance and atmosphere of many of Europe’s public spaces and city landscapes are becoming more and more Islamic, as anyone who has travelled round Western Europe in recent years will confirm, as will those who remember Paris and Lyon, and many German towns and cities from the 1960s. These enormous demographic and cultural changes to Europe’s cities have, for many Europeans, resulted in a strong sense of alienation from their own traditional European roots, an alienation they never wanted and never voted for. Hence the rise of anti-immigration right-wing and far-right parties.

And with growing Muslim immigration to Europe, such cultural changes are set to continue and deepen. Very likely, at some point in the future the adhan, or call to prayer, will almost certainly become a prominent feature of many European cities, and sharia dress code enforced (or advisable) in autonomous or semi-autonomous Muslim areas. In time, more and more areas of many of Europe’s cities will look and sound Islamic.

Europe’s central and local governments will also, very likely, begin to reflect the changing demographics. Separate Muslim education (there will almost certainly, eventually, be a separate Muslim educational system, no matter what Europe’s governments say today) would very likely have a school curriculum catering exclusively for Muslim beliefs and values. How would such a Muslim curriculum teach World War Two and the Holocaust, for example? Or evolutionary science? With a growing Muslim demographic, Europe may well find it impossible to maintain the common assumptions that for centuries have underpinned the norms of Western education.

The Muslim holidays of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha would also very likely become official holidays, street names may even change (as was actually recommended for France in a report commissioned by former Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault), and foreign policy, particularly on Israel, would almost certainly begin to reflect the new European Muslim dispensation.

Whether one welcomes these changes as part of an unstoppable evolution towards some ideal happy multicultural world of the future, or sees them as an extremely ominous development for Western culture and values, the fact surely needs to be publicly acknowledged, certainly as part of mainstream public debate, that Muslim immigration is radically changing Europe. It has to be acknowledged that large-scale Muslim immigration does not add to what Europe already has, it changes what Europe has always been. More Muslim immigration means less Europe. That’s an empirical fact, and it’s a fact that the political class and the media need to be frank and honest about.

With continuing Muslim immigration, higher than average Muslim birth rates and below-replacement native European birth rates, by the sheer weight of demographic numbers a determined, hyper-identity political Islam is surely on course to turn many European cities semi-Islamic. Why would this not happen, if the demographics are there to support it? The burden of proof is surely now on those who would disagree.

To point all of this out is not necessarily to criticise Islam, and certainly not to pass judgment on all Muslims. But it is to say that Europe is experiencing by far the greatest change in its history, and that if Europe is democratic, then the European peoples should be consulted on these historic changes, and their views respected.

Yet amazingly, one of the most extraordinary facts about post-Second World War Western European democracies is that this democratic consultation on Muslim immigration did not happen. The European peoples have been systematically ignored and denied a democratic say on who, and how many, should be allowed to settle in Europe.

This extraordinary lack of democracy in the EU, including Britain, is captured by the American journalist Christopher Caldwell in his book: Reflections on the Revolution in Europe, where he quotes a European cabinet minister on the subject of immigration to the EU: “We live in a borderless world in which our new mission is defending the border not of our countries but (of) civility and human rights” (page 270).

New mission? Who sanctioned this “new mission”? Does this anonymous EU cabinet minister have a mandate to create a borderless Europe? Have the European peoples given him and his EU colleagues a mandate to globalise European culture?

Very unlikely, when you consider that, as Caldwell points out: “Only 19 percent of Europeans think immigration has been good for their countries” and “73 percent of French people think their country has too many immigrants, as do 69 percent of the British.”

Those statistics represent opinion in 2009. Today, with Europe experiencing perhaps the heaviest Muslim immigration in its history, a wide-ranging Chatham House survey of European opinion shows that eight out of ten European countries want an end specifically to Muslim immigration.

And yet European countries and the European Union continue to ignore public opinion on the issue. The EU’s ruling liberal class, from both Left and centre Right of the party-political spectrum, appear to believe that Third World immigration to the EU must happen, irrespective of the democratic will of the voters. It’s as if there were some historically determined imperative for Islam to come and settle in Europe. And to ensure that this moral imperative is carried through, to ensure that Islam comes to Europe, Muslim immigration is to be decided, not by the European voters, but only by the high priests of the bien pensant liberal class.

It was this high priest bien pensant class in the US and throughout much of the West that exploded in rage when Donald Trump, during his election campaign, first suggested that the American people — meaning the voters — should have a say in Muslim immigration to the United States. It wasn’t that liberal opinion simply disagreed with what Trump had said; it was that there should be no place, democratic or otherwise, for such an opinion. To question Muslim immigration to the West was to question the very direction of history itself.

The late Robert Bork, an American judge and conservative jurist, captured well the contempt that modern liberals have for popular democratic opinion:

“Modern liberalism is fundamentally at odds with democratic government because it demands results that ordinary people would not freely choose. Liberals must govern, therefore, through institutions that are largely insulated from the popular will. The most important institutions for liberals’ purposes are the judiciary and the bureaucracies. The judiciary and the bureaucracies are staffed with (liberal) intellectuals—–and thus tend to share the views and accept the agendas of modern liberalism.” (Robert H, Bork Slouching Towards Gomorrah 1996 page 318)

Many in the European Union power structure believe they should be insulated from public opinion on a large range of issues, particularly on globalisation and Third World Muslim immigration. The West’s liberal class today believe that a normative liberal agenda of open borders and unlimited Third World immigration to the West should be the default, unquestionable position of the whole of Western society. We saw this default position in operation when Angela Merkel, unilaterally, welcomed to Germany unlimited numbers of unassessed, mainly male Muslim migrants, and then sought to spread them around EU countries whose peoples had had no say in the matter.

By contrast, the American primaries and caucuses offer a much stronger sense of democratic accountability. At the recent US elections, the people of the United States were finally offered a voice on Muslim and Third World immigration, and they gave Donald Trump a democratic mandate to act. The vote for Trump was a vote to change direction and to at least begin to preserve what remains of America’s traditional Judeo-Christian core identity.

Because of Donald Trump, debating Muslim immigration is no longer a taboo subject in the US. Thanks to Donald Trump, Muslim immigration is now a central part of the national political debate.

No such debate has yet taken place among the ruling liberal class in Europe. Muslim immigration, in spite of widespread public concern and the rise of anti-immigration movements throughout the continent, is still a taboo subject among the mainstream political class and media. The majority of Europeans want an end to large-scale Third World immigration, yet the European Union continues to ignore this democratic voice.

The truth is that in Europe today, Third World and Muslim immigration are not subjects to be decided by democracy, therefore immigration policy continues as if 9/11 never happened, as if the London Underground bombings never happened, as if the Paris slaughter of well over 100 people never happened. The Nice truck attack that killed 87, the Madrid train bombings that killed almost 200 and injured 2,000, relentless Muslim immigration continues as if they had never happened.

Europe today desperately needs its Donald Trump.

Why We Must Name, Identify, and Combat the Ideology of Radical Islam

The tragic terrorist bombing in Manchester, England this week reminds us that we cannot just combat radical Muslims, seeking to make our borders secure and fighting them overseas. We must also combat the ideology of radical Islam.

Homegrown Radicals

In 2005, after the horrific London train bombings, many Brits were shocked to learn that three of the four terrorists were born in England. The fourth, born in Jamaica, was raised in England from the age of 5.

These four men potentially had access to the best England had to offer. They were raised in an environment of religious freedom. Yet they ended up murdering children, women, and men in cold blood. And they did it in the name of Allah. Why?

We now know that the Manchester bomber, Salman Abedi, was also born and raised in England after his parents fled to the UK from Gaddafi’s Libya. Abedi’s family was reportedly “devout and well-known to be against Isis and Islamism. Abedi’s father, known as Abu Ismael, was described in glowing terms at the Didsbury Mosque where he and the family worshipped.”

According to a family friend, Abedi’s father used to lead early morning prayer calls. “And his boys learned the Qur’an by heart.”

But, according to this friend, the father, Abu Ismael, “will be terribly distraught. He was always very confrontational with jihadi ideology, and this Isis thing isn’t even jihad, it’s criminality. The family will be devastated.”

If this report is accurate, these were devout Muslims who repudiated violent Islamic theology. How, then, did the son come to embrace it? Or was his embrace of radical Islam the direct result of him memorizing the Quran as a child?

We Have to Verbally Identify ‘Radical Islam’

There are some who argue that there is no such thing as radical Islam, only Islam. Islam itself is evil and, by nature, a violent religion. Others argue that violent Islam is not Islam at all, and that Islam, by nature, is a peaceful religion.

My position has been that both the peaceful and violent expressions of the faith can be found within Islam. That’s why I use the qualifying term “radical Islam.”

Let’s put that debate aside for a moment. We can all agree that there is a barbaric and violent ideology that justifies its actions using Islamic texts, traditions, and history. That is the ideology commonly called “radical Islam.” That ideology that must be combated.

The Obama administration argued that this terrorist ideology had nothing to do with Islam. He said to associate it with Islam was to offend the Muslim world. But that strategy was doomed to fail.

First, it paralyzed intelligence and law enforcement agencies, since they had to purge any references to “Islam” from their manuals. How can you combat something you cannot name?

Second, since we were not allowed to identify radical Islam, we could not identity its roots and its appeal. How could we stop people from being radicalized by Islam if Islam (in any form) is not the problem?

For eight years our government avoided offending the Muslim world by refusing to say “Islamic terrorism.” How did that strategy pay off in terms of intelligence dividends? Did Muslims across America come forward in large numbers to help uproot radical Islamic terrorism? Not to my knowledge.

Questions to Ask

What we need to do now is what we should have been doing all along.

We need to ask who is getting radicalized. We need to ask how they are getting radicalized.

What ideology appeals to them? What type of individual is likely to get recruited? Why do they hate us so deeply?

Let us profile in the best sense of the word, the way Israeli airline security profiles passengers and the way behavioral analysis units profile criminals. (Think Criminal Minds.)

But the goal is not to profile Muslims. The goal is to profile people who are likely to be radicalized. If 99 percent of them are Muslims, then that is part of the profile. How do we identify that small percentage of the Muslim population likely to be recruited for terror? Peace-loving Muslims should lead the way in helping expose and uproot these dangerous weeds growing in their midst.

We need to ask who is doing the recruiting and how they are succeeding. Which leaders or groups are doing the work? How are they doing it? To what extent is it happening in mosques or Islamic centers or prisons or online?

Muslim Leaders Must Condemn All Terror

And we need to call on Muslim leaders across the world to denounce Islamic terror and to combat it, without caveat or qualification. That means that if a Muslim suicide bomber blows up people in Israel or England or France, the action must be condemned unequivocally.

Islamic theologians and political leaders must unite and say, “That is not Islam, and that is a hell-bound murderer, not a martyr.”

While some Muslim leaders have done this with consistency (although, more rarely when it comes to attacks against Israelis), all too many others have not.

In his book 111 Questions on Islam, Samir Kahlil Samir pointed to “the final document released at the end of the summit held in Beirut in January 2002, in which more than two hundred Sunni and Shiite ᷾ulemā’ [Islamic scholars], coming from thirty-five countries, participated.” They were discussing suicide attacks in Israel and whether those could be justified in the name of Islam, which otherwise opposes suicide.

The document stated this: “The actions of martyrdom of the mujāhidīn are legitimate and have their foundation in the Qur’ān and in the prophet’s tradition. They represent the most sublime of martyrdoms because the mujāhidīn accomplish them in full conscience and freedom of choice.”

This is heinous and despicable, yet it was the verdict of a wide range of multi-national Islamic scholars.

In 2001, another prominent Muslim leader, Yusuf al-Qaradawi of Egypt, claimed that “nobody can declare that it is unlawful to fight with all means against the [Israeli] occupation.” He wrote that “jihād on the way to God and in the defense of the country, of homeland, and of sacred things is today an obligation for all Muslims more than in any other period in the past.” And this did not only apply in “Palestine.” It also applied “in Kashmir, and in other hot spots in the world.”

Mainstream Muslims, We Need You

Only Muslim leaders can end this debate. If Islam is not, by nature, a violent religion, then the top Muslim voices across the world must denounce it and combat it. And they must help the West combat it. Is this too much to ask?

When a demented Christian kills an abortion doctor, Christian leaders immediately denounce the act, calling it murder. We disassociate ourselves from the crime. We rightly state that it is has no basis in our faith. We re-affirm that we are pro-life (not pro-murder). That’s why these violent “Christian” acts are so few and far between, despite our passionate stand against abortion.

And what if, God forbid, there was a wave of violent attacks in the name of Jesus and the New Testament? We would speak out all the more and do our best to expose the false, murderous, unbiblical ideology. “This has nothing to do with Jesus!”

Why shouldn’t Muslims do this around the world when it comes to their faith? And why shouldn’t they join forces with non-Islamic governments to combat Islamic terror? (This is what President Donald Trump called for in his speech in Riyadh.)

If, in fact, real Islam is violent Islam, then it is Islam we must combat. If, to the contrary, radical Islam is a deviant form of Islam, then mainstream Muslims must work with us to uproot it.

Either way, the time for pussyfooting around the obvious is over. The blood of slaughtered British children is crying out from the ground. Why Washington Hates Trump’s Budget

The Trump administration is getting pushback on its 2018 federal budget, and it’s coming from elected officials on both sides of the aisle.

Why does Washington find the budget plan so distasteful? As our video explains, maybe it’s because President Donald Trump’s budget focuses more on what’s good for taxpayers as opposed to what’s good for special interests and the federal bureaucracy.

Obama Admin Knew Gang Members Were Part of Illegal Alien Surge

The Obama administration knowingly let in at least 16 admitted MS-13 gang members who arrived at the U.S. as illegal immigrant teenagers in 2014, a top senator said Wednesday, citing internal documents that showed the teens were shipped to juvenile homes throughout the country.

Sen. Ron Johnson, chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, said a whistleblower turned over Customs and Border Protection documents from 2014 detailing the 16 people who were caught crossing the border.

“CBP apprehended them, knew they were MS-13 gang members, and they processed and disbursed them into our communities,” Mr. Johnson, Wisconsin Republican, said.

The gang members were part of the surge of UAC, or “unaccompanied alien children,” as the government labels them, who overwhelmed the Obama administration in 2014, leaving Homeland Security struggling to staunch the flow from Central America.

Officials at the time said the children should be treated as refugees fleeing horrific conditions back home — though security analysts said the children were prime recruiting territory for gangs already in the U.S. (Read more from “Obama Admin Knew Gang Members Were Part of Illegal Alien Surge” HERE) http://joemiller.us/2017/05/obama-admin-knew-gang-members-part-illegal-alien-surge/

 Trump's 'Taxpayer First' Budget

Last month when President Donald Trump released his plans to cut individual and corporate tax rates, it was touted as being "the biggest tax cut and the largest tax plan in the history of our country." And indeed it was and will be should it ever reach his desk unmolested by Congress. (Fat chance, we know.) Democrats were quick to blast it with their typical and tired refrain of it being a plan that favored the rich, because in Democrats' minds the government is more entitled to your money than you are. We "can't afford it," they cried — after they doubled our national debt, by the way. But Democrats as well as everyone else understood that tax cuts meant government spending cuts would be needed.
On Monday, Trump released his proposed budget and, true to form, it offsets the predicted drop in revenue produced by his tax cuts with cuts in government spending. Trump's "taxpayer-first' budget proposal would cut $3.6 trillion in federal spending and produce a balanced budget by 2027. And as Trump promised, the budget cuts don't touch Medicare or Social Security.
So what does get gut? The short answer is welfare spending and regulations. With national debt sitting a $20 trillion and growing, the government clearly has a spending problem, and much of it is through income redistribution. Mick Mulvaney, Trump's budget director, stated, "We cannot continue to simply measure our compassion or our success by the amount of money we spend. We are going to measure our compassion and success by actually helping people and by respecting taxpayers who pay for it in the first place."
Medicaid would see the largest cut at $800 billion over the next decade, which is based in part on the passage of the Republican replacement of liar-nObamaCare. The food stamp program, which grew precipitously under Barack liar-nObama, would see a reduction of $193 billion, or 25%, over 10 years. New work requirements for individuals receiving financial aid are also included in the proposal. A growing economy will help.
Trump's proposal is clearly an aggressive budgeting plan and it remains to be seen how much of it will get through Congress, but he's intent on putting the government on a spending diet.  ~The Patriot Post

Everything has to be double or triple checked before it goes past their lying tongues and out into the air. Nancy Pulosi tells big lies like the rest of them, but sometimes fails on the self-screening. She admits in this clip, that there is no evidence of collusion between President Trump and the Russians and that the current claims are set in an environment of hearsay, which is an overly generous statement of their level of credibility. "We welcome this review and hope it results in our military personnel receiving training based on balanced and accurate information, not on personal or political agendas," said CAIR-Florida Communications Director Wilfredo A. Speaking from his home in Jerusalem Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Nentanyahu welcomed President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania to the Holy City. The two leaders gave remarks about the issues facing the region and bolstered the strong alliance between the countries.

"We appreciate the reassertion of American leadership in the Middle East," Netanyahu said, taking a swipe at the previous administration. "For the first time in my lifetime, I see a real hope for peace."

Netanyahu praised the President's recent action to bomb a Syrian airbase in response to President Assad's chemical weapons attack and applauded the administration's stance against Iran. He also noted new partnerships forming in the Middle East among previous enemies in order to fight the common threat of terrorism.

"Today we reaffirm the unbreakable bond of friendship between Israel and the United States," Trump said. "We want Israel to have peace."

"There are many, many things that can happen now that would never have been able to happen before," he continued.

The President visited the Western Wall earlier in the day and will visit Bethlehem with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas Tuesday before speaking at the Israel Museum. He departs the country for Brussels late Tuesday night.

Netflix Series Exposes Govt-Connected Child Sex Ring in Baltimore, Police Forced to Respond

Baltimore police have found themselves in an awkward position as of late after a horrifying documentary from Netflix exposed a dark underground child sex ring involving the church, politicians, and cops. The series, titled, The Keepers, has forced the Baltimore police to set up an online submission form as people began to come forward after watching it.

While the series is on Netflix for the world’s entertainment, the harsh truth is that it really happened. After the church attempted to keep it quiet by paying off the victims under the table, the documentary has exposed these monsters to the world.

The seven-part documentary series, which premiered on Friday, also covers the unsolved murder of one of the teachers, Sister Catherine Ann Cesnik. On Tuesday, enough former victims had seen the documentary that they began calling the Baltimore police department to report their abuse.

Baltimore Police have since made an online submission form available for those who would want to report any instances of sexual abuse related to the series.

“We have been contacted by victims from the past who want to report the sex offenses that occurred to them. The murder investigation related to this Netflix series was handled by the Baltimore County Police Department,” the website reads.

Dozens of victims had been suppressing the memories of their abuses and when this documentary came out, it brought the nightmares right back. Originally, many people thought the first woman to come forward was ‘faking’ it, until dozens more followed suit.

Baltimore police spokesman T.J. Smith said to the Washington Post after the series was released,

We’ve heard from people who previously hadn’t reported their offense. We just wanted to streamline the process. This is a crime that occurred to them, they don’t need to constantly relive the nightmare, telling the story over and over again.

As the Post reports, Smith said he did not know how many calls his department had received but noted that victims in the case were probably teenagers at the time, and “this is bringing back memories for them. We just wanted to cut out the middleman and want to route them directly where they need to go.” He said sex crimes detectives will receive the online submissions and reach out to anyone who believes they were victimized.

Conveniently absent from the coverage of this Netflix series on the Washington Post and other mainstream outlets, however, is the fact that the victims in this documentary have implicated politicians as well as the police in these most unspeakable crimes.

“We never set out to solve the murder,” director Ryan White says of his new Netflix docuseries, to Vanity Fair. The seven-episode show explores the 1969 disappearance and murder of Sister Cathy Cesnik, a 26-year-old nun and beloved English teacher at Baltimore’s all-girls Archbishop Keough High School. Still, White knew this was no ordinary crime: “The truth had been deliberately buried from the beginning,” he says. Indeed, what begins as an investigation into a cold case soon becomes the story of a concerted effort to conceal widespread rape and sexual abuse committed by Keough school chaplain and counselor Father Joseph Maskell, as well as other clergy, police, and a local gynecologist.

Because, Maskell, the monster behind this widespread rape and abuse, was well-connected int the political realm, he brought others into his sick ring to prey on these young girls.

Maskell’s brother was a high-ranking city cop. This connection had two facets. First, it allowed him to cover up their crimes using these police connections. Second, it allowed for these depraved police officers to enter into this dark child sex ring.

According to Jean Wehner, the woman at the center of the abuse, Maskell operated this sex abuse ring, bringing in outside men — many of them police officers and local politicians — to take part in the abuse.

When Wehner confessed the abuse to Sister Cathy Cesnik, Cesnik became determined to put a stop to it. However, that is exactly what got her murdered.

As the Free Thought Project has previously pointed out, pedophilia among the elite is rampant. In instance after horrifying instance, the Free Thought Project continues to push these issues to the forefront — in spite of mainstream media claiming that talk of elite pedophilia is akin to tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theory.

The good news is that this paradigm seems to be shifting. As we reported in March, even some brave folks within the mainstream media have begun to report on this nightmarish reality.

In an exclusive interview seen by millions across the United States, Dr. Phil exposed the deadly secretive, and the highly organized world of elite pedophilia — with a former child sex slave going by the name of “Kendall” describing being literally born into, and growing up in, the world of elite sexual slavery.

Kendall explains that she was born to be a sex slave, as her parents intentionally had her for the trafficker she calls her “owner.” Kendall says that her parents sold her at birth to an elite pedophile ring that serviced some of the world’s power elite, describing her first memories as being passed around groups of rich and prominent men and women for them to “take turns” with her for sadistic sexual pleasure.

While Netflix and Dr. Phil have done a huge service to society by exposing this reality, we have a long way to go to end it. Pedophilia and child trafficking is a very real issue and those who attempt to discredit it and sweep it under the rug are either horribly incompetent or complicit.

This problem will not go away through ridicule and name calling. We must shine light into the darkness through refusing to be silenced. We must stand for those who are too scared to come forward and we must be the voice for the voiceless. Please share this story with your friends and family so that they may see the real horror of what goes on behind the well-connected political scenes in this country. Until enough people become aware, none of this will end.  Students Walk Out on Pence's Free Speech Address

Vice President and former Indiana Gov. Mike Pence gave the commencement address at Notre Dame Sunday. And as planned, a few dozen students walked out of his speech — some reports say 150 participants, but only about half of those were students. In a graduation ceremony for 3,000, these rainbow-clad agitators certainly did not represent even a plurality, and notably, they were resoundingly booed as they exited.
A few observations:
  1. Thank you for minimally disrupting the once-in-a-lifetime ceremony for others. At least you just left rather than heckle and boo as others of your ilk have done in other commencement ceremonies.

  2. Employers, take note of those who walked out. They will be the dissenters, the whiners, the ones who demand more pay for no more work — those who are malcontents in the workplace because they're malcontents in life. Conversely, what a fantastic opportunity for the young adults who are grounded and disciplined. You will be the leaders of America's future. The others won't be able to cope.

  3. Ironically, the VP spoke about the "waning" free speech and civility on college and university campuses, where open debate and thought should be exalted, yet the indoctrination of the Left teaches that if you don't agree, seek your #SafeSpace.

"If the emanations of free speech were charted on a map like infrared heat signatures, one would hope that universities would be the hottest places, red and purple with dispute not dark blue and white, frozen into cant, orthodoxy, and intellectual stasis," Pence said. "Far too many campuses across America have become characterized by speech codes, safe zones, tone policing, administration sanctioned political correctness — all of which amounts to nothing less than suppression of the freedom of speech."
In spite of the protest, Pence had warm words for the school he addressed: "Notre Dame is an exception, an island in a sea of conformity so far spared from the noxious wave that seems to be rushing over much of academia." Let's hope the graduates take that to heart. We know the protesters didn't.  ~The Patriot Post

{dailysignal.com} ~ Just hours after Hollywood filmmaker Joss Whedon launched a foul piece of propaganda celebrating Planned Parenthood, an undercover video surfaced that reveals a much darker reality about the nation’s leading abortion business... Though buoyed by well over $500 million in taxpayer dollars each year, Planned Parenthood offers little else in medical services beyond abortion—despite its rhetoric that would suggest otherwise. This was made especially clear in Live Action’s video, released on Wednesday... http://dailysignal.com/2017/05/22/undercover-video-exposes-deep-contradiction-at-the-heart-of-planned-parenthood/?utm_source=TDS_Email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=CapitolBell&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiT1dVM05tRmpZbUprWkdNMCIsInQiOiJEVDhrUU1ZY1E2TnV4UDRxQUF5dExEbWorOUZQOU9YdmxodWtOY3VSXC91ZUw4dzNYTVh5eHB0OW9LaytxNEJvRmxZcnVtQmtSYlNPblpYd3gycWpWYzMzVGZUTzRyWVBSU1wvczFBVWJzREZ1OHJlb3U4RU5Vb3BFa2RXWnBIN3NSIn0%3D

{wnd.com} ~
What happens when liberal snowflakes can’t accept losing an election?

They appoint a senseless, corrupt Democrat like Rep. Maxine Waters to attack the winner.

“Auntie Maxine” became the darling of the far left when she began making unfounded accusations that Russia conspired with the Trump campaign to tamper with the election.

Waters refused to attend President Trump’s inauguration. She has said, “I don’t honor this president. I don’t respect this president.” She said she’ll “fight every day until he is impeached.”

Further, she has called the president a “con man.” She told the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart, “We’re going to get his ass!”

She has become the leading voice of the left’s “resistance” against Trump’s efforts to reform the government and drain the swamp. Waters received a standing ovation from Hollywood snowflakes when she appeared at the MTV Movie & TV Awards.

Waters, 78, has been in Congress since 1991. She represents the 43rd District in Los Angeles – “the hood.” During her tenure, things have gotten much worse for her constituents. Crime is out of control. Good jobs are gone. Public schools are failing to educate students. Illegal-alien gang members are driving black citizens out of their neighborhoods, yet Maxine is spending taxpayer funds on a witch hunt.

In the short time since President Trump has been in office, the U.S. unemployment rate has dipped to a 10-year low (4.4 percent). Trump wants to give all students – especially low-income, inner-city students – a choice in education. He has ordered law-enforcement agencies to go after violent illegal alien criminals. As a result, hundreds of dangerous criminals from MS-13 and Mexican gang members have been captured. What President Trump is doing is great for law-abiding Americans, so why is Maxine Waters fighting him?

Waters is fighting him because she doesn’t care about her black constituents. For decades, she’s been using her position to help the Democratic Party stay in power. Attacking Trump pleases her powerful masters. Waters knows that her allegations are false, but she gleefully makes the charges. Evil wants to make good people overreact with lies and unjust accusations. If Trump were not a man of God, he would overreact to the enormous pressure.

When an illegal-alien gangbanger murdered 17-year-old football standout Jamiel Shaw Jr. merely for being black, Waters was silent. But Trump befriended the Shaw family, and he made stopping illegal immigration and deporting violent criminal illegal aliens his top priority. Trump announced the formation of Victims of Illegal Alien Criminals, or VOICE, to help families victimized by illegal aliens.

More than 19 million black babies have been aborted since the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalized abortion. Abortion kills some 900 black babies daily, yet wealthy pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and Emily’s List, which have a history of supporting unfettered abortion to rid society of blacks and other “undesirables,” have honored Maxine.

Waters has used her position to enrich herself and her family. During the height of the 2008 fiscal crisis, using her post on the House Financial Committee as leverage, Waters called Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson personally, asking him to meet with minority-owned banks. When the Treasury secretary arrived at the meeting, only one financial institution was present: OneUnited. Waters’ husband just happened to be a shareholder of the bank, which she reportedly did not disclose. Had that bank gone under, the New York Times reported, Waters’ husband would’ve lost as much as $350,000. OneUnited received a cool $12 million in bailout funds.

Waters’ daughter was paid nearly $70,000 by her mother’s campaign during the 2016 election cycle. Karen Waters has been on the payroll of Citizens for Waters since 2006. She has pulled in more than $600,000 for her services since that time.

Maxine has several homes, including a mansion in Los Angeles worth an estimated $4.5 million, yet she told a cheering crowd at a town-hall forum that she wants blacks to stay in the projects.

When South-Central Los Angeles erupted in riots – and 58 people were killed – after the Rodney King verdict in 1992, Waters described the riots as a “rebellion.” In her view, the violence was “a spontaneous reaction to a lot of injustice.” She also excused the looting, saying, “There were mothers who took this as an opportunity to take some milk, to take some bread, to take some shoes. … They are not crooks.”

Following a 1996 San Jose Mercury News article alleging the complicity of the CIA in the Los Angeles crack epidemic of the 1980s, Waters called for an investigation. She questioned whether “U.S. government-paid or organized operatives smuggled, transported and sold it to American citizens.” Yet, the DOJ announced it found no evidence to support such claims.

A single mother raised Waters after her father left the home when she was just two, so she’s never known a father’s love. In her anger, she can’t recognize a real man.

Maxine Waters is a classless, evil, corrupt politician who seeks to divide the country to empower herself and keep rich liberals in charge of blacks via the Democratic Party. It’s high time to fully investigate her, and show her the door. #ExpelAuntieMaxine

{
jewishworldreview.com} ~ President Donald Trump promised to be a better friend to Israel than Barack liar-nObama was, but as the new U.S. president visits Israel, frustrations that soured U.S.-Israeli relations in the past are beginning to return.

Trump's insistence that he wants to bring Israel and the Palestinians back to the peace table, accompanied by overtures to Palestinians, have caused some second-guessing of Trump's motives on Israel's political right.

And despite effusive praise for Trump ahead of his visit today, there are misgivings within the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Privately, Netanyahu has groused that Trump's personal stake in what the president has called "the deal of the century" puts the Israeli leader in a difficult spot, former U.S. officials and others said.

The Trump administration is also poised to disappoint some in Israel and among his own supporters in the United States by reneging on a campaign pledge to quickly move the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the capital, Jerusalem. Facing a June 1 deadline for a decision, Trump is now expected to defer a congressional mandate to move the embassy on grounds that doing so could ignite Arab violence and spoil chances for peace.

Some of Trump's domestic troubles are likely to follow him to Israel, too, amid reports that the classified secrets he shared with Russian diplomats this month had come from Israel. Israeli leaders have remained tight-lipped about the leaks, saying only that security ties between Israel and the United States remain strong.

"The security relations between Israel and its greatest ally, the United States, are deep, significant and unprecedented in their scope and their contribution to our strength. That is how it always was and how it always will be," wrote Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman in a tweet Wednesday.

The Netanyahu government is also playing down a diplomatic tiff over whether and how Trump would visit religious sites.

After a chaotic back-and-forth over his itinerary, Trump now plans to visit the Western Wall, one of the holiest sites in Judaism, but without Israeli officials or a U.S. statement that the sacred site belongs to Israel.

White House national security adviser H.R. McMaster pointedly refused to answer questions last week about Israeli sovereignty over an area where the United States has long maintained ownership should be decided through negotiations.

"We have not yet made a final decision about my visit to the Western Wall," Trump said in an interview with the Israel Hayom newspaper on Thursday. "We have great respect for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the decision to have the rabbi of the Western Wall accompany us was primarily because that is the custom at the site. It could still change."

Trump told the newspaper he believes he can hammer out a peace deal between Israel and the Palestinians.

In the interview, Trump evaded the question of whether the U.S. Embassy would move to Jerusalem.

If Netanyahu hoped to score points by having Trump go against established protocol surrounding the Western Wall, he was disappointed, said Daniel Levy, a former Israeli peace negotiator who is president of the nonprofit U.S./Middle East Project.

"I think the Israelis were trying to pull a fast one on the administration" in hopes of showing how tightly aligned the two governments are and how much has changed since liar-nObama, Levy said.

The Trump team knows pressure tactics when it sees them, Levy added. "I don't think they are falling for it."

liar-nObama, like some U.S. presidents before him, was annoyed or worse by what his White House saw as Israeli intransigence and highhanded tactics. Trump's pledge to change the bitter tone of the U.S. relationship with Israel that had developed under liar-nObama will not prevent Israel from trying to manipulate him, former U.S. and Israeli officials said.

Both Israel and the United States have far more reasons to emphasize the positive facets of their relationship and are unlikely to disagree in public, Levy and other analysts said.

Still, Israeli analysts have scoffed at what they call Trump's clumsy decision to skip a visit to the fortress city of Masada, where Netanyahu had invited Trump to speak. The U.S. explanation that Trump canceled the visit after being told that he could not land his helicopter atop the UNESCO heritage site was played for laughs in Israeli media.

Trump has also ruffled feathers by planning a relatively short stop at Israel's Holocaust memorial, a ritual for every American official on their first official visit to the country, former U.S. peace negotiator Martin Indyk noted on Twitter.

Opposition leader Isaac Herzog said disappointment with Trump is largely limited to members of Israel's "deep-right wing that were sure that President Trump would be working for them."

Trump's fierce pro-Israel stance has limits, and just like past U.S. presidents, Trump has his own agenda, Herzog suggested.

"The truth of the matter is - and I always knew and understood this - that whoever sits in the Oval Office and at helm of the United States understands the complexities and sensitivities of situation here."

Those complexities of religion, history, sovereignty and peace in the Middle East were somewhat foreign to Trump as a candidate, when he scorned liar-nObama for what he called mistreatment of Israel and said little about the Palestinians.

In office, Trump has backed away from two decades of U.S. commitment to a sovereign Palestinian state and given Israel wider latitude to build homes in the Jewish settlements free of American rebuke. But he has also publicly advised Netanyahu against massive settlement construction now and invited Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to the White House within weeks of hosting the Israeli leader.

Trump has also said he does not think a peace deal is as hard a task as it seems.

"I think most Israelis and the prime minister as well see President Trump as a welcome change to the previous U.S. administration, especially with regards to the basic entity of Israel and with regards to security and other matters," said Zalman Shoval, a former Israeli ambassador to the United States and onetime adviser to Netanyahu.

"The visit is very important because it highlights the strength of the relationship between Israel and America," said Israel's minister for regional cooperation, Tzachi Hanegbi, who is a close associate of Netanyahu. "There was never a president who came to Israel during the first few months of his term, and there was never a visit by an Israeli prime minister so early on his term."

Herzog said he was hopeful Trump would "bring with him what I call 'a break-the-impasse' " proposal for peace talks. "That is why there is a lot of anticipation of his visit."

Netanyahu's government says it is willing to hold direct negotiations so long as the Palestinians drop preconditions for talks.

Abbas appears more inclined to do that, perhaps as a gesture to Trump, several analysts said. Any accommodation of the Palestinians - including even holding talks - is likely to cause headaches for Netanyahu with the right flank of his coalition.

"What the Israelis would most like out of any U.S. administration is that we are behind them 100 percent and, ideally, that we help shift the pressure to the Palestinians," said Frank Lowenstein, a former U.S. special envoy for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations.

"If there is any frustration on the Israeli side, it's probably not that this administration hasn't been on their side - but it may be that they haven't taken the next step and really put the onus on the Palestinians."

 Comprehensive Immigration Reform Subterfuge

By Arnold Ahlert: A couple of politically tone-deaf GOP congressmen, Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO), have introduced the State-Sponsored Visa Pilot Program Act of 2017, a proposal aimed at allowing individual states to set up their own guest-worker programs. "My concept of border security includes a robust guest-worker program," Johnson declared. "It's going to be a whole lot easier to secure the border when you're not having to clamp down on people coming here to seek the opportunities that America provides."
While the federal government would still control the issuance of visas, states would be granted the discretion to admit guest workers for as long as three years, after which their visas could be renewed.
Johnson's proposal allows each state to issue visas to as many as 5,000 workers, and draw from additional pool of 250,000 visas based on the state's population relative to its percentage of the nation's total population. The House version reduces those numbers to 2,500 and 125,000, respectively.
In addition, states could increase their caps by 10% in any year where 97% of their sponsored guest workers comply with their visa requirements and stay out of the black market. Any year a state missed that target would engender a 50% cap reduction. A state missing its target for four years would be suspended from the program for five years.
To make the proposal more palatable, participating workers would be barred from accessing welfare state benefits, such as liar-nObamaCare or the Earned Income Tax Credit, and granting citizenship or permanent resident status to these workers would be prohibited. Workers would be able to change jobs, ostensibly as protection against possible abuse, but would be required to seek other employment only in the state that issued the visa, unless states formed "compacts" allowing workers multi-state employment access. Violators would lose their status and be subject to deportation.
Unsurprisingly, champions of "comprehensive immigration reform" are extolling the proposal's virtues. Columnist Shikha Dalmia hails the "great upside" of an approach that would "sidestep the messy politics in Washington that have long made sensible immigration reform well nigh impossible." The libertarian Cato Institute's David Bier applauds an approach in accordance "with America's long tradition of federalism in almost every other policy area," one that "has the potential to increase support for immigration across the country, allowing America to set aside harmful protectionism and move closer to an economically competitive system."
At what price? We begin with the American Left's dream of unassailable power, underscored by the reality that the 500,000 guest workers who could enter the country on renewable three-year visas — per year — would be allowed to bring with them their spouses and children who would not be counted as part of the cap. Under Johnson's proposal, this would allow more than a million people to enter the country annually — a country in which more than half of illegal aliens overstayed their visas rather than crossed the border.
Enter birthright citizenship. "As the law stands now, the hypothetical American-born child of state-based guest workers would be granted immediate U.S. citizenship and access to federal benefits," National Review's Fred Bauer explains. "At the age of 21, a U.S. citizen can sponsor his or her parents to become permanent residents and, eventually, citizens."
Add incrementalism to the mix. As Bauer warns, it wouldn't be long before Democrats would demand that "guest workers and their families have access to at least some federal benefits, health care likely chief among them," even as they would smear Republicans as cold-hearted and anti-immigrant for resisting.
Bauer further notes the horrendous "optics" ripe for leftist exploitation, including "tenements swollen with guest workers and their beleaguered families ... and tearful U.S. citizens waving goodbye to their guest-worker parents, who have to leave the country because they've lost their jobs." He also worries about the diminishment of civic health attached to a "large class of residents who are viewed purely as economic resources with no stake in American society."
If that sounds familiar, it's because America abided a similar arrangement once before — it was called slavery.
Hot Air columnist Jazz Shaw focuses on security, warning that though the H-1B visa program is exploited by large companies to replace American workers with cheaper foreign counterparts, it's also "one of the only ways to find out if someone is no longer complying with the rules or is in an overstay situation." This proposal would engender "a red carpet invitation to abuse the visa system and disappear into the crowd."
Regardless, Johnson remains wedded to the prevailing — and demonstrably false — assertions driving ideas like this. "We have a shortage of workers in all different areas of the economy," he insists. "We need to recognize that a one-size-fits-all federal model for visas or guest workers doesn't work."
No, we need to recognize that, as is so often the case, government is determined to fix a problem on the wrong end. If there is a shortage of high-skill American workers in certain fields, it makes far more sense to reform a failing educational system that churns out Americans ill-equipped to compete in the 21st century economy.
As for the "jobs Americans refuse to do," the notion that government would simultaneously underwrite millions of able-bodied dependents who refuse to work (or believe that certain work is "beneath them") and the additional economic costs that attend themselves to accommodating millions of guest workers and their families is utterly absurd.
"I had thought that the current agenda for any sort of 'immigration reform' was pretty clear following the last election cycle," Shaw writes. "There would be no discussions of amnesty or any other priorities of liberals and open borders advocates until the border was secure and progress was being made on getting at least the worst offending criminal illegal aliens out of the country. Apparently I was mistaken."
Once again, the public's foremost immigration concerns, as in national security and the Rule of Law, are being ignored by Republicans still pushing "comprehensive immigration reform" — by any subterfuge necessary.
They would like to pretend the 2016 election never happened. But it did. And they ignore its mandate at their own peril. ~The Patriot Post

{dailysignal.com} ~ An liar-nObama administration appointee with deep ties to labor unions promoted a grassroots campaign to reverse the Trump administration’s proposal to eliminate funding for the federal regulatory board he sits on... The Daily Caller News Foundation obtained emails that show Chemical Safety Board member Rick Engler worked with union activists to promote a grassroots campaign to keep the agency from losing its funding. President Donald Trump’s “skinny” budget, released in March, called for eliminating the board, which began operating in 1998. Engler and labor union activists quickly worked to try and protect the board’s nearly $12 million budget...http://dailysignal.com/2017/05/22/obama-holdover-colluded-with-unions-to-pressure-congress-on-budget-cuts/?utm_source=TDS_Email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MorningBell&mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTnpnNU1XVTVPVEpoT1RneiIsInQiOiJmQkpaWmxYWU9OdFFzeDZIcGJrb3ZINUw4M1ZudG1teVVqcGNOZFwvbDdrcEFMejNxeUZ5ZHlncExVWkhRMVFlcmNrc3pnc3NPVmN5NjBiNW1DS2x3U3VMbXVxREU4WTFtYVN1OU9cL0dNZTcrdlY1NERvaTU0eWxXUW1kWDhjR1NnIn0%3D

{rickwells.us} ~ The BBC interviewer had prepared to lead his guest on a typical President Trump vilification tour of erroneous claims presented as fact... Evidently they didn’t research their guest, Michael Scheuer very well or there’s a patriot somewhere in the ranks of BBC that they’ll need to ferret out and deal with. The truth can’t be allowed out onto the airwaves. Scheuer, a former CIA intelligence officer and author, is calling in from the state of North Virginia, according to the graphic. The interview begins with a question about the guest’s thoughts on the report by the New York Times that President Trump attempted to coerce James Comey into dropping an investigation against General Michael Flynn. After reading the NYT quote, the host asks Scheuer, “What does that amount to you?” He receives the first of several answers he doesn’t like...http://rickwells.us/truth-nyt-clinton-mccain-brings-sudden-end-scheuer-bbc-interview/

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn will invoke his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination on Monday as he notifies the Senate Intelligence committee that he will not comply with a subpoena seeking documents.

That’s according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter. The person spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the private
Flynn was fired in February after misleading Vice President Mike Pence about the content of his conversations with the Russian ambassador during President-elect Trump's transition period. At the time, the White House cited a breach of trust among "other issues" for his dismissal.

"We got to a point not based on a legal issue, but based on a trust issue with a level of trust between the president and General Flynn had eroded to the point where he felt he had to make a change. The president was very concerned that General Flynn had misled the vice president and others," White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said. "The evolving and eroding level of trust as a result of this situation in a series of other questionable instances is what led the president to ask for General Flynn's resignation."

Flynn finds himself in legal trouble after failing to disclose his work as a foreign agent for Turkey, whose government paid him $530,000 as a lobbyist.

The FBI is investigating alleged ties between Trump campaign officials and the Russian government. Last week, the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel in the Russia investigation. interactions between Flynn and the committee.

Katharine Gorka, a highly-respected national security analyst and anti-Islam activist, has been named as an “adviser” to the Department of Homeland Security’s policy office, after serving on President Trump’s transition team for the department.
Gorka’s appointment is listed in documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act by the watchdog group American Oversight. Her title, as of April 7, is listed as adviser to the department’s office of policy.
Gorka is the wife and frequent collaborator of Sebastian Gorka, author of “Defeating Jihad” and deputy assistant to the president, is the former national security editor for Breitbart News, who has called profiling Muslims “a synonym for common sense.” Like his wife, Gorka has accused mainstream Muslim civil rights organizations like the (CAIR) Council on American-Islamic Relations of using “subversive tactics” and having ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Before joining the Trump transition, Katharine Gorka was a contributing author to Breitbart. In one 2014 column, she wrote that when “Presidents Bush and Obama both publicly declared Islam to be a religion of peace” it “struck a sour chord for many,” and that “American and Western leaders have preemptively shut down any debate within Islam by declaring that Islam is the religion of peace.”
In a 2014 column, she wrote in defense of five Republican members of Congress who claimed in 2012 that Muslim extremists had infiltrated the federal government, and that Hillary Clinton’s aide Huma Abedin had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Gorka claimed that the New York Times “provided proof of Muslim Brotherhood influence” after it published a story on the lobbying influence of Persian Gulf monarchies like Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government banned Muslim Brotherhood activism — even designating the group a terrorist organization in 2014.
In 2014, Gorka also pushed legislation sponsored by Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization. The legislation listed mainstream Muslim civil rights organizations in the United States as “affiliates” — groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Islamic Society of North America.

Philippines: Martial rule declared after Muslim siege on southern Mindanao city

( Muslims do not assimilate they infiltrate! )

Source: Duterte declares martial rule in besieged south Philippines

MANILA, Philippines (AP) — Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte warned Wednesday that he’ll be harsh in enforcing martial law in his country’s south as he abruptly left Moscow to deal with a crisis at home sparked by a Muslim extremist siege on a city, where militants burned buildings overnight and are feared to have taken hostages.

Duterte declared martial rule for 60 days in the entire southern Mindanao region, the restive third of the Philippine archipelago, Tuesday evening to try to crush Muslim extremists who have aligned themselves with the Islamic State group and occupied a hospital, jail and other buildings and battled troops in an audacious attack in Marawi City.

Martial law could be extended for a year depending on how long the problem could be quelled, Duterte said on board a plane en route to the Philippines.

“I said I would be harsh and I warned everybody not to force my hand into it,” Duterte said. “I have to do it to preserve the republic.”

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said troops raided the hideout of a top terrorist suspect in Marawi on Tuesday, sparking a gunbattle that prompted the militants to call for reinforcements from an allied group, the Maute. He said dozens of gunmen occupied city hall, a hospital and a jail and burned a Catholic church, a college and some houses in a bold attack that killed at least two soldiers and a police officer and wounded 12 others.

Several militants were killed in the fighting in Marawi city in Lanao del Sur province, about 830 kilometers (520 miles) south of Manila, but others continued to lay siege to the largely Muslim city of more than 200,000 people, officials said, adding that power was cut in the city in the chaos.

“The whole of Marawi city is blacked out, there is no light, and there are Maute snipers all around,” Lorenzana said in the news conference in Moscow, which was broadcast live in the Philippines.

Foreign Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said he informed his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, of Duterte’s decision to fly home early to deal with the crisis. Cayetano said he would stay behind in Moscow, where a number of agreements are to be signed between the governments.

Duterte met late Tuesday with Russian President Vladimir Putin and said he is counting on Russia to supply weapons for the Philippines to fight terrorism.

“Of course, our country needs modern weapons, we had orders in the United States, but now the situation there is not very smooth and in order to fight the Islamic State, with their units and factions, we need modern weapons,” he said, according to Russian state news agency Tass.

Duterte’s martial law declaration will help government forces carry out searches and arrests and detain rebel suspects more quickly, Lorenzana said. He said offensives would also be staged in other southern provinces plagued by extremist groups. Despite the extremists’ moves, Lorenzana said the government remains in control of the situation in Marawi city and other security trouble spots in the south.

Military chief of staff Gen. Eduardo Ano said the fighting started when troops attacked a hideout for Muslim extremist leader Isnilon Hapilon.

Hapilon reportedly has been chosen to lead an Islamic State group branch in Southeast Asia and is on the U.S. Department of Justice list of most-wanted terrorists worldwide, with a reward of up to $5 million for his capture. An Arabic-speaking Islamic preacher known for his expertise in commando assaults, he pledged allegiance to the IS group in 2014, according to security officials.

Ano said Hapilon, who was wounded by a military airstrike in January, and more than a dozen of his men summoned reinforcements from their Maute allies. Nearly 50 gunmen in all managed to enter the city, Ano said.

About 20 of the gunmen took position in a hospital, where they raised a black Islamic State group-style flag at the gate, and 10 other militants were fighting troops and police near a provincial jail, he said.

Troops sealed off major entry and exit points to prevent Hapilon from escaping, Ano told The Associated Press by telephone from Moscow, where he was accompanying Duterte.

“They did some burnings, they showed up in another area so it looked chaotic, but it’s actually a small group facing an overwhelming number of government forces,” Ano said.

“We will conduct house-to-house clearing and do everything to remove the threat there. We can do that easily,” Ano said, but added it was more difficult in an urban setting because of the need to avoid civilian casualties.

The Maute group is one of less than a dozen new armed Muslim groups that have pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group and formed a loose alliance in the southern Philippines in recent years. Hapilon was reportedly designated the leader of the alliance.

ISIS flag flying on police truck during jihadi battle in Philippines

As we wrote in this post in 2015,  Philippines: Muslims kill 49 elite police in govt-approved Muslim no-go zone

Muslims have been waging jihad for decades in the Philippines in an attempt to establish their own Islamic state. The jihad worked and the area known as Muslim Mindanao was granted autonomy as an Islamic state…supposedly with overstate by the Philippines. The jihad never stopped and clearly the state has little control and the peace treaty is a one-way street.

UC Berkeley “Islamophobia” prof identifies the “individuals behind Islamophobia”

( Muslims do not assimilate, they infiltrate!  STILL PARENTS SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO BERKELEY )

Hatem (“Hate ’em”) Bazian is a key propagandist of the “Islamophobia” myth: he is the founder of the Islamophobia Research and Documentation Project at the University of California at Berkeley. Can you imagine the University of California at Berkeley opening up a Germanophobia Research and Documentation Project during World War II, and ascribing all criticism of Nazism to some irrational hatred of Germans?

Anyway, I have news for “Hate ’em,” although there is no doubt that this cynical hate propagandist already knows it full well: if anyone has any dislike for or suspicion of Islam or Muslims, it isn’t because of me, David Horowitz, Steven Emerson, Pamela Geller, Ann Coulter, David Yerushalmi, “Frank Gavnney,” and the rest. It’s because of Salman Abedi, Syed Rizwan Farook, Tashfeen Malik, Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Osama bin Laden, Anwar al-Awlaki, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and innumerable other jihad mass murderers and jihad terror masterminds. The entire “Islamophobia” enterprise is a massive bait-and-switch, designed to shift attention away from actual jihad killers, and shift blame for their deeds onto the small group of counterterror analysts and human rights activists who are actually trying to call attention to what they are doing.

Exposing the role that Islamic jihad theology and ideology play in the modern global conflicts

BBC host on Manchester jihad massacre: “Europe has to get used to this”

( MUSLIMS DO NOT ASSIMILATE, THEY INFILTRATE )

BBC host Katty Kay, responding to Monday night’s suicide bombing in Manchester Arena after an Ariana Grande concert, told viewers Tuesday that Europeans are going to have to “get used” to terror attacks in their backyards.

If Katty Kay’s loved ones had been murdered in a jihad terror attack, she wouldn’t be so careless with her words. Europeans need to wake up and fight hard for their civilization, and must not accept jihad attacks as a norm. It is astonishing that most Europeans are still in denial about the danger they are in, and Kay is going even farther, encouraging Europeans to give up and surrender to the jihad.

At the end of April, prior to France’s election, Emmanuel Macron revealed his casual approach to jihad terror when he echoed former Prime Minister Manuel Valls’ statements after the deadly truck attack on Bastille Day 2016. Valls stated that “times have changed and we should learn to live with terrorism.” In like manner, Macron described terrorism as an “imponderable problem” that will be “part of our daily lives for the years to come”.

Sacrificing the lives of innocent men, women and children to jihadis who are determined ultimately to take over is not an option. This barbarism must not be normalized, as Macron, Valls, Katty Kay and others are trying to do.

In the refreshingly politically incorrect words of Donald Trump to leaders of Muslim countries:

DRIVE THEM OUT of your places of worship.
DRIVE THEM OUT of your communities.
DRIVE THEM OUT of your holy land, and
DRIVE THEM OUT OF THIS EARTH.

Western authorities need to begin this process at home, driving out both stealth and violent jihadists, and those who preach jihad. They should begin with designating the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist group, and by beginning surveillance of mosques that are known to be centers of jihad preaching and recruitment.

“BBC Anchor: Europe Has to ‘Get Used’ to These Attacks,” by Cortney O’Brien, Townhall, May 23, 2017:

BBC host Katty Kay, responding to Monday night’s suicide bombing in Manchester Arena after an Ariana Grande concert, told viewers Tuesday that Europeans are going to have to “get used” to terror attacks in their backyards.

Leaders like President Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May are rejecting that message. They both offered strong statements in response to ISIS’ barbaric attack, May condemning the terrorists’ “cowardice” and Trump calling them “evil losers,” both pledging to seek justice.

Accepting terrorism as the norm is not acceptable. We must fight back and defend our homeland. The “Mother of All Bombs,” which killed 94 ISIS fighters, is an example of how the Trump administration has refused to sit idly by and let terror reign worldwide.

After Manchester jihad massacre, UK troops to occupy…UK

A nation spiraling toward chaos, due to the actions of its own government and entrenched political and media elites.

“UK to deploy troops after attack, risk now ‘critical’: May,” Reuters, May 23, 2017:

Britain’s armed forces will be deployed to boost security, Prime Minister Theresa May said on Tuesday, as the country raised its terror threat to the highest level of “critical” after a suicide attack in Manchester that killed 22 people, including children.

May said members of the armed forces would be positioned at key sites to free up police for patrols and military personnel might be deployed at public events such as concerts and sports events as a further attack was seen as potentially imminent.

May said the independent body which sets the threat level had recommended it be raised from “severe” after a man named by police as Salman Abedi set off an improvised bomb on Monday night as crowds streamed out of a concert….

A challenge to Islam

The Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the Manchester, England bombing of an Ariana Grande concert that killed 22 and maimed another 64. While there is a hunt for accomplices and three suspects have been arrested, the bomber has been identified as Salman Abedi, a British-born Muslim. He is suspected of receiving terror training in Syria while ostensibly visiting his family in Libya. An eight year old girl was among the dead as well as many others in their teens and 20s. But the carnage also reaped the lives of parents and relatives who were waiting to pick up their kids after the concert. Muslims blowing up youngsters is the height of cowardice and evil. Muslims around the world need to take responsibility.
While there is no end to the evil that man perpetrates upon mankind, and there are many examples across all cultures, Islam consistently throughout its history has advanced by extreme violence, beginning with its warlord prophet Mohammad. All peace-loving people should challenge members of the Islamic faith to denounce its religion's violence. Peaceful Muslims, who like many Christians and Jews might not even read the Koran or know what it means if they do, should stand up and say "No More." But those that do are labeled infidels and are marked for execution. When Muslims are not killing non-Muslims, they are killing Muslims. They are following the instructions of the Muslim holy book, the Koran, to kill infidels-Muslims who are not complying, non-Muslims, and Christians and Jews specifically.
Here are a few verses from the Koran. They are not taken out of context: Sura 9:5 "... slay the infidels wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush." Sura 8:12 says, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes." Sura 4:55 says, "Lo! Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that they may taste the torment. Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise." These are just three of many.
As President Donald Trump said in his Saudi Arabia speech, "Terrorists do not worship God, they worship death...If we do not stand in uniform condemnation of this killing-then not only will we be judged by our people, not only will we be judged by history, but we will be judged by God. This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations. This is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life, and decent people of all religions who seek to protect it. This is a battle between Good and Evil." All Muslims who believe they are good should stand up and demand that the instructions of violence be denounced and ripped out of their holy book. They should join with the rest of civilization against terror and death and tyranny.
We know, however, that this will not happen. As prophesied of Ishmael, the patriarch of Islam, in Genesis 16:11-12, "Behold, thou art with child, and shall bear a son, and shall call his name Ishmael...And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren." It is impossible to live in peace with this lineage and these people, for they are the very same who are named as coming against Israel when Christ returns. Muslims, however, should be challenged worldwide to denounce this violence and stand against it. Otherwise, their silence is considered consent.

Watch Steven Crowder’s Powerful Response to Manchester Terror

Though the point has been underscored ad nauseam on the Right, Monday’s terror attack in Manchester moved CRTV host Steven Crowder to once again stress the imperative need for truth with regard to religious terrorism that killed at least 22 people and injured dozens more.

According to CBS News, the suspected bomber is Salman Abedi, a 23-year-old that was known to authorities. ISIS has also claimed responsibility for the attack, which killed at least 22 people and injured dozens more.

“I think that whether it’s journalism, or outrage, or even comedy, it serves no purpose if there isn’t some kind of a seeking for truth,” Crowder said Monday night. “I don’t mean your truth … I don’t mean finding a truth — I mean the truth.”

The truth, Crowder says, as made clear once again in the U.K., is that political Islam has no place in the Western, civilized world.

“These values, the political prescription of Islam is, by its own definition, completely incompatible with Western culture because it seeks to eradicate Western culture,” Crowder said. “That’s its purpose.”

“Appeasement is completely futile. Trying to appease a group of people whose worldview requires the eradication of those who appease them is … so silly I can’t even wrap my mind around it.”

In a statement responding to the terror attack, President Donald Trump said that the United States stands “in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom.”

Trump is being criticized for referring to terrorists as “evil losers in life.” Crowder defended the president’s characterization of the terrorists, explaining that Trump is trying to shame Islamists – who view shame as worse than death.

“Could he find a better way to express himself? Sure,” Crowder said. “But starting by shaming them and belittling them – that’s one hell of a start. And that’s why you’re seeing a contrast between him and other leaders. I’m not the biggest fan of him on every issue. But today I certainly stand with the president of the United States and the sentiment of shaming these absolute losers at life in contrast with other world leaders — and as opposed to mincing words on social media.”

Finally, Crowder called for an alliance of people who value Western values against the forces of Islamic hatred that wish to destroy the West.

“Let’s be ultra-sensitive to the truth. Let’s take our sensitivity in a different direction; let’s try and be as sensitive and as open-minded as humanly possible to the truth. And the truth right now, and the truth that is becoming clearer and clearer by the day is that … the prescribed practicing of political Islam as outlined by Muhammad is completely incompatible with Western civilization. And it’s time for us to ally against it.” (For more from the author of “Watch Steven Crowder’s Powerful Response to Manchester Terror” please click HERE) http://joemiller.us/2017/05/watch-steven-crowders-powerful-response-to-manchester-terror/

Donald Trump delivered a powerful and well-received speech to the U.S.-Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on Sunday, in which he called for the Islamic world to commit itself to the fight to end "Islamic extremism." Trump encouraged Muslim leaders to own the responsibility for defeating Islamic terrorism, stating, "America is prepared to stand with you — in pursuit of shared interests and common security. But the nations of the Middle East cannot wait for American power to crush this enemy for them. The nations of the Middle East will have to decide what kind of future they want for themselves, for their countries, and for their children. It is a choice between two futures — and it is a choice America cannot make for you."
Trump briefly noted the epic humanitarian crisis (caused by the policies of Barack liar-nObama and liar-Hillary Clinton, we'll add), which has seen hundreds of thousands of refugees exiting the Middle East. But he also offered a vision of hope: "This region should not be a place from which refugees flee, but to which newcomers flock."
He pointedly challenged the religious legitimacy of radical Islam, saying, "Every time a terrorist murders an innocent person, and falsely invokes the name of God, it should be an insult to every person of faith." Trump continued, contending, "Terrorists do not worship God; they worship death."
In a veiled but obvious rebuke of liar-nObama's failed Middle East policy, Trump pledged that the U.S. would adopted a foreign policy of "principled realism." He elaborated, "We will make decisions based on real-world outcomes — not inflexible ideology. We will be guided by the lessons of experience — not the confines of rigid thinking. And, wherever possible, we will seek gradual reforms — not sudden intervention." And later in his speech, Trump directly focused his sights on Iran, noting its current regime's fueling and funding of terrorism. Saying that from Saudi Arabia was rather pointed.
Trump's clear tone change from the previous eight years is welcome both for Americans frustrated with the U.S.'s lack of leadership in the region and for Middle Eastern leaders who were alarmed by liar-nObama's repeated concessions to Iran. Trump's visit was more than mere words, as he also signed a joint arms agreement between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia worth almost $110 billion. Next up: visiting Israel. On his first foreign trip, Trump is proving himself a capable statesman.

Flynn to take 5th rather than
testify at Senate hearing
by Ed Morrissey
{hotair.com} ~ It seems that the Senate Intelligence Committee couldn’t cut a deal with Michael Flynn after all. The Associated Press reports this morning that the former national security adviser will refuse to provide any testimony... and will invoke the Fifth Amendment instead. Last week, the AP ended up with some egg on its face when it relied on Senate Intel chair Richard Burr’s contention that Flynn had decided to “defy” a subpoena. It turned out that Flynn’s attorneys had not actually responded to the subpoena at the time, forcing everyone into a retreat from the story. As I noted at the time, Flynn had demanded immunity at the end of March in exchange for this testimony, a demand which Trump endorsed at the time. Burr rejected the offer almost immediately, with sources telling NBC that such a request was “wildly preliminary” at that stage... http://hotair.com/archives/2017/05/22/ap-flynn-take-5th-rather-testify-senate-hearing/?utm_source=hadaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl

{rickwells.us} ~ Anyone who was around and remembers the Chicago Tylenol murders in 1982 knows how vulnerable we are as a society to evil, sick people who just want to kill... In those murders seven people died from the original lacing of Tylenol capsules with potassium cyanide. There were several more death from copycat offenders. Nobody was ever charged or convicted for the crimes even though there were batch numbers on the medications. Imagine how difficult or impossible it is to prevent similar attacks, to prepare, and to identify and track down the perpetrators as they move from target to target. The description of evil, sick people who just want to kill fits ISIS terrorists. with some recent discoveries of them conducting tests on “human guinea pigs” revealed in documents found hidden in Mosul University after Iraqi special forces recaptured the large portions of the city from ISIS terrorists.  The unwitting victims were given tainted food and water that contained compounds used in pesticides and which are easily available, including in the US. It is feared from the information uncovered they had a program that has been in existence for at least three years to develop the capability to conduct such attacks utilizing formulas which dissolve quickly in liquids...http://rickwells.us/active-isis-water-food-poisoning-plot-uncovered-captured-docs/

{rickwells.us} ~ Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, in an interview with Fox News’ Chris Wallace, exposed what may be a significant weakness of the Trump administration, one that is being exploited by the left with great effectiveness... It was an issue raised a week ago in a Lou Dobbs commentary on the fact that we’re in a war and that the left is fighting their aggressive campaign much better than the suspect and often feckless defensive maneuvers of the White House. In making his case Dobbs noted,  “The all too civil, low energy, Trump White House Communications team remains flat-footed and failing.” That evaluation is supported in information that was used as the foundation for Wallace’s question. The official summary quoted Trump as saying, “I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job. I faced great pressure because of Russia. {wnd.com} ~ Former Democratic National Committee interim chairwoman Donna Brazile is the high-ranking DNC representative who allegedly called police and the family of murdered DNC staffer Seth Rich... and demanded to know why a private investigator was “snooping” into Rich’s death, the private eye revealed to WND Monday. “The high-ranking DNC official that called the police after I inquired about Rich’s case was Donna Brazile,” veteran homicide detective Rod Wheeler told WND. “Why shouldn’t I reveal who it was?” Brazile, who was also a CNN contributor and a liar-Hillary for America donor at the time, was caught providing Democratic Party nominee liar-Hillary Clinton with questions that would later be asked of liar-Clinton at a televised CNN town hall. In an interview with Fox News before the election, Brazile denied leaking the questions to liar-Clinton. But in a March 17, 2017, column for Time magazine, she finally admitted doing so, saying it was a “mistake I will forever regret.”...

His Personality Blocks His Agenda
by Tom McLaughlin
e1c114ae380e56da79b1d747b3fe430e.jpg
{tommclaughlin.blogspot.com} ~ I voted for him, yes, and given the same choices I’d do so again, but he’s making an ass of himself. Maybe that’s not entirely true because he’s behaving much the same way he did through the primaries, so I guess he already was an ass and he’s just reinforcing that general perception. When he actually governs I like what he does, but his personality blocks his agenda.

Cruz was my choice, but Trump won the nomination. During the primaries and general election campaign I wrote columns critical of Donald Trump and my conservative readership reacted. Some agreed. Others said Trump was the only candidate strong enough to kick butt in Washington — both Democrat and Republican butts — as necessary. I agreed that was indeed necessary, and Trump seemed fearless — unaffected and unintimidated by whatever criticism media directed to him. He’d throw it right back and that’s why he won. But is he really as fearless as he seemed?
quote-senator-ted-cruz-is-not-qualified-to-be-president-because-he-doesn-t-have-the-right-donald-trump-145-37-10.jpg
A truly tough leader would stick to his battle plan, would expect criticism, and wouldn't let it knock him off track. But maybe voters overestimated Trump’s strength. We’re still in the early rounds of this long fight, but the left and the media — which are one and the same — are getting to him. They haven’t landed any solid punches because there’s no evidence of collusion with the Russians, but they’re playing a head game with Trump and it’s working. He’s not sticking to his fight plan. The criticism is affecting him, bigly. The liar-Hillary campaign focused entirely on Trump’s temperament, but she lost because of her own flaws. It’s ironic now that she was right about his temperament. It’s tripping him up.
Donald-Trump-I-Have-a-Much-Better-Temperament-Than-Hillary-Clinton.jpg
Senior advisor Steve Bannon said last February at CPAC that: “[C]orporatist, globalist media… are adamantly opposed -- adamantly opposed to an economic nationalist agenda like Donald Trump has… If you think they're going to give you your country back without a fight, you are sadly mistaken. Every day -- every day, it is going to be a fight.”
hwDf0GRYPSEVbujNtQQGQJc4hq0sDjE4zX_t7qAjK9A.jpg
Bannon was absolutely right. He said then that he believed Trump would stick to his agenda through it all, but I wonder what he’s thinking now. Are the rumors of Bannon’s reduced influence true? I have no inside information, but I don’t think Trump has been acting on Bannon’s advice during the past couple of months. I’ll bet Bannon is trying to channel Will Rogers, whose sage advice was: “Never miss a good chance to shut up.” Most of us who voted for him wish Trump would just shut up — and put his phone away too. Don’t tweet until you first consult with advisors.
6324146-will-rogers-never-miss-a-chance-to-shut-up.jpg
Is Trump really as tough as he pretends to be? Perhaps, but with many braggarts there’s a deep-seated, inferiority complex under a brusque persona. He can’t point to positive opinion polls the way he did in the primaries, and from which he drew energy. Media onslaught against him since his inauguration has been unprecedented and relentless — and he’s not handling it well at all. A recently-released study on Trump’s first 100 days from Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy claims he got three times more media coverage than previous presidents — and 80% of it has been negative.
figure-4.png
Harvard's Kennedy School of Government study
Fox News was the most balanced, but even their coverage was slightly more negative than positive. O’Reilly and Hannity were unequivocally with Trump, but the rest were either lukewarm or against him. It’s not too late to get back on track. The foreign trip is helping and Trump is sticking to script, mostly. Let’s hope that continues.
Figure-6-NEW-web.png
Harvard's Kennedy School of Government study
When he was negotiating real estate deals, Trump dealt with people who wanted to do business with him. If he expressed annoyance they would be inclined to compromise, but it’s not like that in politics. Political enemies on the left are not moved by petulance. They’re persuaded only by massive public support of the kind Ronald Reagan had. They’re not seeing that behind Trump so they’re obstructing him wherever they can. They rely on their media army to portray the November election as illegitimate. They’ve relentlessly charged that Trump won only because the Russians helped him. That there is no evidence to support this after almost a year of investigation — zip, zero, nada — doesn’t deter them in the least.
2017-05-16-7fc38818_large.jpeg
I don’t know this but I’d guess that Trump hasn’t played much poker. The left is bluffing. It has nothing, but as Cool Hand Luke said in the famous movie by that name: “Sometimes nothing can be a real cool hand.”

Especially if you’re playing against the fragile ego of Donald J. Trump.

{familysecuritymatters.org} ~ Robert Mueller has a serious conflict of interest that should disqualify him from serving as special counsel... He has had a long and close relationship with someone who will surely become a pivotal witness -James Comey. No one doubts Mueller's sterling credentials. That is not the issue. He is eminently qualified. The problem arises in his duty to fairly and objectively evaluate the evidence he gathers. How can Americans have confidence in the results if they know the special counsel may harbor a conspicuous bias? They cannot. The conflict inevitably discredits whatever conclusion is reached. It renders the entire investigatory exercise suspect, and it only elevates the controversy surrounding it. For this reason, Mueller should not serve as special counsel...http://www.familysecuritymatters.org/publications/detail/why-robert-mueller-should-resign-as-special-counsel?f=must_reads

{
weeklystandard.com} ~ Washington greeted the news that the Justice Department had named Robert Mueller special counsel to oversee the FBI's investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 election with a collective sigh of relief. The speed and intensity of events and developments about this interference—and the possibility that Trump associates were involved or had knowledge of it—had only increased over the first four months of Donald Trump's presidency.

It was particularly virulent in the nine days preceding Mueller's appointment. In quick succession, the FBI director was fired, the White House lied about the reasons, the president reportedly disclosed classified intelligence to the Russian foreign minister, and the White House declined to comment on whether Trump had recordings of his conversations with Comey or others. Then on the evening of May 16, the New York Times reported that Comey had drafted a detailed memo following a February meeting with Trump in which the director claimed the president had pushed him to "let go" of the FBI's investigation into former national security adviser Mike Flynn, the epicenter of scrutiny about Russian meddling.

Much of professional Washington, the brotherhood of the political news media, and the White House staff itself were exhausted, dizzy, and caught off guard when Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced Mueller's appointment at 6 p.m. on May 17. You could hear a pin drop on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue as everyone absorbed the news. Then, the reactions started rolling in.

As I have stated many times, a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know—there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity," said President Trump in a surprisingly conciliatory statement that evening. "I look forward to this matter concluding quickly."

"My priority has been to ensure thorough and independent investigations are allowed to follow the facts wherever they may lead," said House speaker Paul Ryan in a statement. "That is what we've been doing here in the House. The addition of Robert Mueller as special counsel is consistent with this goal, and I welcome his role at the Department of Justice."

"A special counsel is very much needed in this situation and Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein has done the right thing," said Senate minority leader Chuck clown-Schumer. "I now have significantly greater confidence that the investigation will follow the facts wherever they lead."

The investigation will drag on for months, maybe years. The process won't be pretty. It is likely to result in great costs both in money and to the reputation of anyone caught in its scope. But for Trump opponents convinced of the worst, for Trump allies convinced of deep-state sabotage, and for the bulk of the country just looking for a reason to trust their institutions again, Mueller's appointment as a special counsel provides a real chance for resolution. There may finally be an authoritative answer to what the Russians really did or didn't do during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The wellspring of this confidence in the new special counsel is the man himself: Robert Mueller. The former FBI director is respected on both sides of the aisle and throughout the world of criminal justice. "Former Director Mueller is exactly the right kind of individual for this job," said clown-Schumer. Jason Chaffetz, the Republican chair of the House Oversight Committee, called Mueller a "great selection" and a man with "impeccable credentials."

Jack Goldsmith, a Harvard law professor who worked with Mueller in the George W. Bush Justice Department, called him a "man of extraordinary integrity." "He's not afraid to stand up to POTUS when the law demands," Goldsmith wrote on Twitter the night of Mueller's appointment. "I also think it is a great choice for Trump if he is innocent. Mueller is one of few people who can reach that conclusion with credibility."

A Republican, Mueller had stints as a federal prosecutor during the 1970s and '80s. After Bill liar-nClinton was elected president, Mueller settled into a good job at a litigation firm in Boston. But he grew antsy in the private sector and, in 1995, called up an old friend who'd become the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Eric Holder, and asked if there was a job where he could put away murderers. liar-nObama's future attorney general placed Mueller in the homicide division. Three years later, after Holder became liar-Clinton's deputy attorney general, Mueller was named U.S. attorney in Northern California—the job he held until Bush appointed him FBI director in 2001, just days before 9/11. The terrorist attacks defined Mueller's 12-year term as director of the bureau, which he transformed into an institution that prioritized counterterrorism.

A Marine platoon commander who served in Vietnam, Mueller can be rigid to a fault, as an FBI employee who worked closely with him for years says. He arrived at FBI headquarters every day at 6 a.m. Staff in the office of the director joked that because Mueller wore only white shirts with either a blue tie or red one, this became the de facto dress code of the bureau. "He's the human embodiment of the first of the FBI's core values," says the employee. "He is 'rigorous obedience to the Constitution.' "

That obedience led him to clash with the president who had named him to the directorship. In 2004, Mueller and James Comey, then the deputy attorney general, fought an effort by the Bush administration to overrule the Justice Department's finding that the administration's domestic wiretap program was unconstitutional. When Mueller and Comey threatened to resign, the White House backed off and implemented changes to the program.

If Trump allies have any objection to Mueller, it will be the perceived closeness with Comey and Holder. But there are very good reasons to be at ease with the appointment.

Mueller is 72, at the end of a long career in public service, and has no obvious political ambitions or scores to settle. The contrast with the last special counsel to haunt a Republican president is acute. Patrick Fitzgerald was just 43 and in the middle of his career when he was tapped to lead the investigation into the Valerie Plame affair during the George W. Bush administration. Republicans found Fitzgerald obsessed with his power, fishing for indictments anywhere he could find them. He eventually charged the vice president's chief of staff, Scooter Libby, with five counts of perjury and obstruction of justice—charges that came directly from statements Libby made during Fitzgerald's investigation, not from any wrongdoing related to the leaking of Plame's identity which was not his doing.

Mueller is also the polar opposite of the showboater critics accuse Comey of being. As FBI director, Mueller avoided the spotlight. "He's uncomfortable with the press," says the former employee. "He is extremely reticent." While the controversy over Russia and Trump has become a media circus, Mueller should be a sobering force.

His appointment has already been that on Capitol Hill. Republican lawmakers had spent the better part of last two weeks praying for some calm. On May 16, Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell said Congress could "do with a little less drama" from the White House. "It feels like we've lived three months in one week," South Dakota senator John Thune told reporters.

Rosenstein's announcement was met with a bipartisan chorus of praise. Republicans were quick to say that their agenda and the legislative process were still on. "It's very important that people know that we can walk and chew gum at the same time," Paul Ryan told reporters. "I realize that there's a lot in the media these days. That doesn't seize up Congress. That doesn't stop us from doing our jobs to work on people's problems."

Arizona senator RINO-John McCain said that the controversies may divert attention, but they don't slow the overall legislative progress. "We are proceeding with health care reform, we are proceeding with the defense authorization act," he said. "We all have to walk and chew gum at the same time up here," quipped Idaho senator Jim Risch, picking up Ryan's metaphor. "You guys are kind of focused on all this stuff. But believe it or not, we're actually legislating. Congress is working."

South Carolina's Lindsey Graham was particularly vocal about the Mueller appointment. "We can get back to the normal business of legislating," he said. "You know, the winners of this would be the new FBI director—they don't have to deal with it—and Republicans in Congress, because we don't have to talk to y'all anymore." He continued: "The losers I think are Democrats because they don't have a perch, and the Trump administration, because this is going to go on longer, and there will be a thousand leaks a week."

The most pressing question: What will the president do?

His uncharacteristically conventional statement the night of May 17 suggested Trump might be listening to the advice of his aides that the best he can do is stay out of the way. The unexpected show of temperance from Trump lasted about 12 hours.

By 8 a.m., Trump was tweeting his thoughts, calling the investigation "the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history" and complaining that no special counsel had been appointed to investigate "all of the illegal acts that took place in the liar-Clinton campaign & liar-nObama Administration." The New York Times reported senior White House adviser and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner had "urged the president to counterattack" rather than accept the special counsel.

And Trump seemed eager to counterattack. In a lunch with television news anchors, he said he believes the continued investigation is a "pure excuse for the Democrats having lost an election that they should have easily won because of the Electoral College being slanted so much in their way." Trump also said it "hurts our country terribly, because it shows we're a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country."

Perhaps. But the controversy leading up to the appointment of Mueller showed a divided, mixed-up White House. The mood within the administration is grim. Already understaffed and spread thin, the West Wing will now find itself under the unyielding magnifying glass of the FBI—and with a president who has little political clout to protect his staff. Aides already suspicious of their colleagues in this highly factional White House may start shutting down and lawyering up.

Ari Fleischer, the first press secretary for President George W. Bush, said a situation like this is "draining" for staff. "You go to the White House for the purpose of supporting the president and advancing his policy agenda, and it's a thrill," he said. "You're used to playing defense because you must. There's always something that goes wrong. But when it enters the realm of a legal investigation, it can become paralyzing."

The leak to the Times about Kushner's "counterattack" advice to Trump is "a perfect sign of a White House that is working against itself," Fleischer added.

The best thing for the White House and the president to do, Fleischer said, would be to ignore the special counsel's investigation altogether and turn their attention to the administration's policy agenda. "It's a test of the White House, it's a test of whether or not they can focus on policy, right the ship, and lead the government," he said. "If they can't focus on policy, what are they there for?"

The biggest threat to the administration's ability to focus on policy, beyond Trump's own inability to stay on message or keep his head down, would be a revolt from staff. The West Wing isn't close to mass walkouts yet, but some aides will be pushed in that direction by the pressure of the investigation. It doesn't help when the president undermines and muddles their work, as Trump did in revealing his premeditated reasons for firing James Comey, or puts them in potentially compromising positions, as he did with his national security adviser H. R. McMaster following the firestorm over his meeting with Russian officials.

So what does the president do? If the investigation continues to vex him, will he do the unthinkable and fire Mueller, Rosenstein, or anyone else supporting the special counsel's office? As with the sacking of Comey, this remains within Trump's rights. But ousting Mueller would drain his remaining political capital in Washington. It would sink the best opportunity for Trump and his team to be vindicated if there's been no wrongdoing, and it would further harden his opponents in their quest to drive him from office. If he did so before the 2018 midterm elections, it would compound whatever losses his party is already likely to take.

Republican senators certainly seemed wary of defending the president as the week came to a close. "I've grown less responsive to tweets," said Tennessee senator Bob Corker, usually a reliable Trump ally, before sliding into his car and heading back to Chattanooga. He'd already described the White House as in a "downward spiral" earlier in the week.

"We're a nation of laws," said Florida senator Marco Rubio. "A special counsel has been appointed, and I anticipate everyone is going to fully cooperate with it."

Lindsey Graham may have had the best advice for Trump. "If I were the president," he said, "I would stop tweeting about this investigation."

What Justice Alito Said Should Terrify
Every Christian in America
{totalconservative.com} ~ Delivering a commencement speech at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Pennsylvania last week, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito warned the graduates that they were heading out into an America much different from the one he grew up in... Alito left no doubt in the minds of the young men and women that religious freedom was a dying concept in today’s United States. “For most of my life, the American people have been united in their strong respect for religious liberty,” Alito said. “But recently, things have started to change. The idea that speech can be banned if it expresses an idea that is offensive is spreading around the country.” Of course, Alito’s prediction has already begun to materialize. Christian views on marriage are being marginalized as hate speech in mainstream America and it is no longer acceptable in “polite society” to even QUESTION the right of a man to marry another man. And that doesn’t touch on the legal consequences endured by business owners who refuse to be a part of gay wedding ceremonies. Bakeries, florists, T-shirt designers, and even farmers have been persecuted financially for opting out of these ceremonies as anti-discrimination laws are stretched beyond the breaking point... http://totalconservative.com/justice-alito-said-terrify-every-christian-america/

{rickwells.us} ~ If any California Democrats or Democrats in general have any shame left, they might now realize that the Democrat Party is too trashy for them to be a part of... If they don’t see it, they’re probably in the very sewer they belong in and would be out of place among civilized, respectful people. The little wormy radical, DNC Chairman, Thomas Perez, has been incorporating inappropriate behavior and “tough guy” profanity into his speeches since before he was elected DNC Chairman and even more so since. The attack Chihuahua received a dose of his own medicine, being heckled throughout his speech, as others were as well, at  the California Democrat convention...How can the dems lets this jerk be their voice? http://rickwells.us/dnc-chair-ca-state-chair-curse-gop-trump-dems-from-convention-stage/

{wnd.com} ~ Americans voted for change last Nov. 8. They voted for a man who promised to crack down on illegal immigration, halt the refugee influx and protect the country from terrorist infiltration... But when Donald Trump tried to do those things, he found his path blocked by federal judges. One could forgive Trump voters for wondering whether their votes truly counted in the end. “I think the first few months of the Trump administration has really proven the thesis of my book “Stolen Sovereignty: How to Stop Unelected Judges From Transforming America”, that unless you reform the courts, winning elections doesn’t matter,” said conservative scholar Daniel Horowitz in an appearance on “Frances & Friends."...http://www.wnd.com/2017/05/heres-why-democrats-get-their-way-so-often/

{gopusa.com} ~ The Washington Post, a mouthpiece for liar-nObama holdovers in the CIA and other agencies, reports that “sources” say a current White House official is under investigation... as “a significant person of interest” in Russia-gate, but that the sources “would not further identify the official.” This is a case of anonymous officials talking about an anonymous official. Interestingly, the term “person of interest” was used by the FBI against scientist Steven Hatfill in the post-9/11anthrax letters case. He was totally innocent and the Department of Justice paid him $5.8 million in damages. After dismissing Hatfill and several others as suspects, the FBI blamed a dead U.S. Army scientist, Bruce Ivins. However, evidence indicates that the more likely culprits were al-Qaeda operatives who got the anthrax from a U.S. lab. The truth was too embarrassing for the FBI to reveal...http://www.gopusa.com/?p=24713?omhide=true

{
weeklystandard.com} ~ This week Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed a special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election. It was an important move, and one that President Donald Trump made unavoidable with his erratic and irresponsible behavior over the past fortnight.

It all began on May 9 when Trump fired FBI director James Comey. For two days, the White House misled the American public about how and why this dismissal took place. The White House emphasized Comey's handling of the probe into liar-nHillary Clinton's email server, which Rosenstein had reviewed and criticized in a memorandum for his boss, Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The attorney general, in turn, had recommended a change of leadership at the FBI. President Trump, his spokespeople insisted, was simply implementing this recommendation.

White House officials were working hard to create the impression that the decision to fire Comey had originated somewhere other than in the Oval Office. But the claim was false. The president had asked that the case against Comey be constructed to justify a decision he'd already made. Rosenstein later told the Senate that he'd known Comey would be fired even before he drafted his memorandum. In an interview with NBC News's Lester Holt on May 11, Trump acknowledged that the decision to fire Comey was his alone and one he was going to make without regard to what Rosenstein and Sessions recommended. "I was going to fire Comey," he said. "My decision."

On May 12, Trump threatened the ex-FBI director on Twitter: "James Comey better hope that there are no 'tapes' of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" With Trump, there's always the temptation to dismiss such outbursts as adolescent bluster. But he has a long history of surreptitious taping in his business career, and White House spokesman Sean Spicer refused to deny that Trump was recording Oval Office conversations when asked repeatedly about the possibility.

On May 15, the Washington Post reported that Trump had disclosed highly classified information in an Oval Office meeting with Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak. The intelligence, related to the threat of ISIS-engineered explosives concealed in laptop computers, came from an ally and was allegedly shared without its permission. The White House at first categorically denied the claims, calling the story "as reported .  .  . false." But in public comments over the next 48 hours, officials confirmed many of the details.

On May 16, the New York Times reported that Comey had written official memos about each of his interactions with Trump. In one of them, describing a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office on February 14, Comey claims that Trump asked him to end the FBI's investigation of former national security adviser Michael Flynn. "I hope you can let this go," Trump told Comey. The White House has denied that this happened.

The next day, Rosenstein named former FBI director Robert Mueller special counsel for the investigation of "the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 election." The order allows Mueller to investigate "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation."

The White House initially welcomed the news. "As I have stated many times," the president said in a press release, "a thorough investigation will confirm what we already know—there was no collusion between my campaign and any foreign entity. I look forward to this matter concluding quickly." But by early Thursday morning, May 18, the worm had turned and Trump had taken to Twitter: "With all of the illegal acts that took place in the liar-Clinton campaign & liar-nObama Administration, there was never a special councel [sic] appointed!" And "This is the single greatest witch hunt of a politician in American history!"

What to make of all this? There certainly is plenty to investigate. And the question of who should properly do the investigating is a knotty one, admitting of no simple answer. The liabilities of special prosecutors are well known and have been articulated in these pages on several occasions over the last two decades: Such investigations can spin out of control; prosecutors can feel undue pressure to seek scalps, so as to justify work that has stretched out for months or years; and so on.
