McCon-nell Promises to Raise Debt Ceiling
Raise the debt ceiling? No problem, says Senate Majority Leader Mitch McCon-nell. "I made it very clear after the November election that we're certainly not going to shut down the government or default on the national debt," McCon-nell said Sunday. "We will figure some way to handle that. And, hopefully, it might carry some other important legislation that we can agree on in connection with it." At issue is, yet again, the legal limit on the nation's debt. Last year, lawmakers opted for a "debt ceiling holiday" instead of a specific statutory limit increase, but the holiday ends March 15. The national debt stands at nearly $18.2 trillion, up from $10.6 trillion at Barack nObama's inauguration, but it's still not enough. Instead of putting up a fight after gaining control of both chambers of Congress, McCon-nell said the GOP would rather just play nice. It's not that shutting down the government is the desirable strategy every time Republicans disagree with nObama, but they have repeatedly shown deathly fear of the very idea. nObama knows that, which only strengthens his resolve and makes each of these fights more of a farce. Republicans gained exactly nothing last time, and now they appear to be chickening out in advance.  -The Patriot Post

SCOTUS Upholds Religious Liberty in nObamaCare Case
Before the Hobby Lobby case, the court system told the University of Notre Dame it had to comply with nObamaCare's contraception mandate -- even if doing so violated the Catholic university's collective conscience. But in a ruling by the Supreme Court Monday, the case was sent back to the lower court with instructions that the court must decide the case based on the Hobby Lobby ruling. Mark Rienzi, senior counsel of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said, "This is a major blow to the federal government's contraception mandate. For the past year, the Notre Dame decision has been the centerpiece of the government's effort to force religious ministries to violate their beliefs or pay fines to the IRS. As with the Supreme Court's decisions in Little Sisters of the Poor and Hobby Lobby, this is a strong signal that the Supreme Court will ultimately reject the government's narrow view of religious liberty." The court is willing to buck the nObama administration on nObamaCare for the sake of religious Liberty. Hopefully, it will, in a similar manner, decide to buck politics in its King v. Burwell ruling.  Under NV Law, Gun Carrying Homes Can't Give Foster Care
Brian and Valerie Wilson are at the forefront of the effort to change foster care policies in Nevada. The couple -- who started carrying handguns after an attempted home invasion -- wanted to become foster care parents, but they were denied because Nevada rejects applications from couples if they have gun permits. According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, assemblywoman Michele Fiore, who cosponsored a bill changing the foster care polices, said, "I don't know if some of my peers have toured Child Haven or have been in Child Haven, but we have children in need of great foster care, and we have had people that are law-abiding citizens that have gotten their background checks, that have their CCWs, literally denied to foster a child because they have a concealed-weapons permit." It's an unjust policy. Couples like the Wilsons are law-abiding citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights, yet the foster care system rules that gun ownership is somehow less lawful.  -The Patriot Post

Does the Ethanol Mandate Include Singing Its Praises?
A number of potential Republican presidential candidates descended on the Iowa Ag Summit this past weekend to shore up their bona fides with the state's agricultural industry. Unfortunately, when it came to the subject of ethanol and the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), most of the White House hopefuls resorted to pandering to voters rather than speaking truth about failed policy. The hard-charging environmental lobby rallies around corn-based ethanol as a fuel alternative because ecofascists have great faith that it's better for the environment (spoiler alert: it's not). Farmers, particularly those in Iowa, embrace the policy mandating ethanol as a fuel additive because it raises demand for corn and puts more money in their pockets. The environmental and agricultural lobbies have been strong enough to keep the RFS alive even after a number of scientists and economists have disproven the effectiveness and benefits of ethanol.  -The Patriot Post

Little Support for nObama's 'Strategy' Against ISIL
Problems continue to abound for Barack nObama in dealing with the Islamic State and other jihadists in the Middle East. He claims he wants congressional support, and he boasts there is a united front to combat the Islamic State, but, given the current situation in the Middle East and nObama's record of failed foreign policy, few are lining up to follow his lead. Early last month, nObama submitted to Congress his request for an Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) to fight the Islamic State. As we noted then, his request prohibits any enduring offensive combat operations and sets a timetable for three years, which in his warped view will show the world our resolve in countering the Islamic State. In reality, the 2001 AUMF against al-Qaida and the 2002 AUMF for military operations in Iraq allow nObama to pursue the Islamic State. But those AUMFs were during the Bush administration, and since nObama doesn't want to commit to a ground campaign, or for that matter have any part of Bush's war strategy, he wants his own AUMF.   -The Patriot Post

 The federal laws Hilly violated
(Judge Andrew Napolitano) - During that time, Hilly enjoyed a security clearance identical to that of the president, the secretary of defense, the director of the CIA and others – it is the highest level of clearance the government makes available...She had that classified clearance so that she could do her job, which involved knowing and working with military, diplomatic and sensitive national security secrets. The government guards those secrets by requiring high-ranking government officials to keep the documents and emails that reflect them in a secure government-approved venue and to return any retained records when leaving office. I have not seen Clinton’s signature on any documents, but standard government procedure is for her to have signed an agreement under oath when she began her work at the State Department requiring her to safeguard classified records, and another agreement under oath when she ended her work that she had returned all records to the government. She violated both agreements, and she violated numerous federal laws. And she said she didn't break any laws, what a lie.       http://www.wnd.com/2015/03/the-federal-laws-hillary-violated/

Hilly's email scandal could cost taxpayers millions
Hilly Clinton: Costing You Money Since 1993
(Logan Albright) - She hasn’t been in the White House for over a decade, and hasn’t been Secretary of State for more than two years, but that doesn’t stop her from continuing to soak the taxpayers...Bloomberg is reporting that the task of sorting through the 55,000 emails that Hilly Clinton turned over to the State Department could cost taxpayers millions of dollars. Of course, this cost need not have been incurred if the former Secretary of State had simply followed the rules and conducted government business on a government email account, but then again, rules have never really stood in the way of the Clintons doing whatever they want to do.       http://www.freedomworks.org/content/hillary-clinton-costing-you-money-1993

Catholic Church Captured by “Progressive Forces”
(Cliff Kincaid) - Armando Valladares, Castro’s political prisoner for 22 years, said his Catholic faith was strengthened behind bars by hearing young Catholics shouting “Viva Cristo Rey,” for “Long Live Christ the King,” and “down with communism!” as they faced the firing squad...It has been his hope that Cuba would one day be free of communism. But he is far less hopeful now that Pope Francis has taken measures that he says “objectively favor the political and ecclesiastical left in Latin America” and could undermine the “Christian future of the Americas.” Meanwhile, Marxist writer Richard Greeman has written an extraordinary article, “Catholicism: The New Communism?,” arguing that “progressive forces” have  “captured” the Vatican, and that Francis is conducting a “purge” of traditional elements, such as those loyal to anti-communist Pope John Paul II.       http://www.aim.org/aim-column/catholic-church-captured-by-progressive-forces/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email031215&utm_medium=email

Why Did nObama Tolerate Hilly’s Use of Secret E-mail?
(Andrew McCarthy) - Politico is reporting that President nObama knowingly corresponded with then–Secretary of State Hilly Clinton via the latter’s private e-mail address...That does not necessarily mean nObama knew Clinton was systematically flouting administration rules and federal record-keeping law. It does, however, mean he and administration officials had to know she was conducting official business over non-secure, non-government e-mail — even in communicating with the president of the United States; even though the White House claims nObama, as his top aide Valerie Jarrett puts it, “has a very firm policy that e-mails should be kept on government systems”; and even though the president and the State Department forced the resignation of nObama’s ambassador to Kenya, in part over his use of private e-mail to conduct government business.       http://www.aim.org/guest-column/why-did-obama-tolerate-hillarys-use-of-secret-e-mail/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email031215&utm_medium=email

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaks during a press conference at the United Nations in New York March 10, 2015. Reuters
The world fails to follow Hilly’s careful script
(Jonah Goldberg) - In the wake of Hilly Rodham Clinton’s fairly disastrous press conference at the United Nations on Tuesday, there’s only one conclusion shared by all parties...This was not how it was supposed to go...This was supposed to be the month Clinton led with her chief selling point: her gender. She had put together a whole “I Am Woman, Hear Me Bore” speaking tour in which women’s issues — particularly the women’s issues that poll well among women who care a lot about women’s issues — would be the main subject. The Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation unveiled a big foofaraw over Hilly’s “No Ceilings” campaign. What a wonderfully convenient theme for Mrs. Clinton’s massive and mysterious foundation, given that smashing the “highest glass ceiling” — i.e., the presidency — is the central rationale of her planned presidential bid. It was just a coincidence that the tax-exempt foundation with her name on it happened to be rolling out a big light show on that very subject during the rollout of her presidential campaign.       http://www.aei.org/publication/the-world-fails-to-follow-hillarys-careful-script/?utm_source=today&utm_medium=paramount&utm_campaign=AEIToday031215

 nObama’s Surrender to Iran
(Dr. Mark Christian) - It is becoming increasingly clear that nObama’s agenda in the Middle East is to help the Islamists regain the land they once controlled but lost in 1924 with the fall of the Ottoman Empire...The Arab Spring was not a movement to replace ruthless dictators with democratic governments. It was an Islamic movement to replace secular governments with Islamic ones. Step by step, this administration is helping to establish the Islamists’ dream of a revived caliphate, or “Pan Arabic Islamic Union” as it has been called by Islamist leaders recently. There is a mistaken school of thought that believes such an Islamic Union would function like an Arabic European Union, growing their economies and enabling them to take their place among the other nations of the world as equals. This school neglects to answer the most salient question: How do you contain a movement that recognizes no borders but its own and is compelled by dint of faith to dominate the rest of the world or die in the effort?       http://www.frontpagemag.com/2015/dr-mark-christian/obamas-surrender-to-iran-2/?utm_source=FrontPage+Magazine&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=cc8027c667-Mailchimp_FrontPageMag&utm_term=0_57e32c1dad-cc8027c667-156509103

Ben Shapiro: Hilly Clinton Lies… A Lot
(TruthRevoltOriginals) - Hilly Clinton is the most transparent woman she knows. She said so in 2008: I think I’m probably the most transparent person in public life…I feel you know a lot more about me than you know about anyone else. Much of it untrue, but nevertheless, it’s all out there. Unfortunately, Hilly is a liar. When news emerged this week that Hilly had set up a private email server the day before her nomination as Secretary of State, and had used her private email address for her entire tenure as Secretary of State so that there were no government records of those emails, and that her aides also used private email addresses, and that her server had the capacity to fully delete emails, and that hackers could have hacked her emails…no one should have been surprised. Of course she did. Let’s take a trip in the wayback machine.      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpPrhkmV_rA

 What Extremist Islam Thrives On
(Bassam Tawil) - The claim of the Muslim Brotherhood, that men should be ruled not by men but by Allah, is a fraud and a lie, because what mortal can claim the right to rule in Allah's name...the various backward Sunni sheikhs such as ISIS's "Caliph," Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, or the power-mad Shi'ite Ayatollahs in Iran? Promoting such a fraud not only allows the extremist proselytizers of Islam to acquire both dominance and exclusivity among Muslims, as bearing the "true" message of Islam. Above all, it prevents their power and leadership from being challenged. Getting nuclear arms is meant to enable the extremist Muslims to market Islam to the masses by force, and hide their failures in technological, societal and economic development.       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5345/extremist-islam-thrives

'GOP double-cross ensures a Dem prez in 2016'
(
Garth Kant) - The next president likely will be a Democrat and she, or he, can thank GOP leadership for that, according to Michele Bachmann...The former congresswoman told WND that will be the result of top Republicans allowing the bill funding nObama’s amnesty for five million illegal immigrants to pass, immediately following the speech to Congress last week by Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “Practically, that bill ensures a Democrat likely will be elected president in 2016 with the Congress willing to double cross the taxpayers by paying for five million illegal work permits, driver’s licenses, Social Security numbers, Medicare, Medicaid and ultimately fraudulently directed efforts to get illegal aliens to the 2016 voting booth.” She said GOP leaders “betrayed our trust with a real bait-and-switch because no one was running in favor of amnesty in November, and then we get this.”       http://www.wnd.com/2015/03/gop-double-cross-ensures-a-dem-prez-in-2016/

Moonbats Hope to Charge 47 Senators Under The Logan Act
(Sara Noble) - The moon bats have once again shown their lack of knowledge about the Constitution and, within hours, they met their 100,000 name threshold on a petition to charge 47 senators with a violation under The Logan act...The White House has to respond because the threshold has been met. I can’t wait for his response. These loons probably know that the letter does not fall under the category of “treason” nor does it fall under The Logan Act. The Logan Act is a United States federal law that forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments. It was intended to prohibit unauthorized United States citizens from interfering in relations between the United States and foreign governments. The Congress is authorized and they are allowed to send the letter. The letter didn’t negotiate anything. No one has been successfully convicted under The Logan Act and it’s never used.       http://www.independentsentinel.com/moonbats-hope-to-charge-47-republican-senators-under-the-logan-act/
What the White House
 Might Not See about Iran
Denis MacEoin

Since "moderate" Hassan Rouhani (right) became the president of Iran, the surge in executions has given Iran the world's highest death penalty rate per capita.

Given Iran's tendency to enrich uranium in secret, it may achieve nuclear breakout capability well before ten years from now.

Nor should we forget that current polls place Mahmoud Ahmadinejad close behind Hassan Rouhani for the 2017 presidential election.

An exhaustive list of genocidal threats by major Iranian politicians between 2009 and 2012 has been compiled by the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. The latest threat was made on March 1 of this year.

The Islamic State and other terrorists do not represent an idealized version of normative Islam, and a number of Muslims may not even support them. But their scriptural and historical roots frankly have plenty of precedent, and far from minimal support.

Shi'i Islam is a very different belief system from Sunni Islam. Iran today resembles a medieval European state.

When Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke from the podium of the U.S. Congress to warn of the dangers of a nuclear-armed Iran, the clock was already ticking towards March 31. That is the deadline for a final agreement between the P5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) and the Iranian regime on limits to Iran's nuclear program, in return for the lifting of sanctions currently imposed on Iran.

By now, everyone has read page upon page of commentary on what the likely consequences of such a deal may be, with a preponderance of analysts agreeing that President Barack nObama's drive to secure a resolution is likely to put Iran on a clear course to nuclear weapons capability after about ten years. Given Iran's tendency to enrich uranium in secret, they may achieve nuclear breakout capability well before ten years from now.

Netanyahu's mission was to warn Congress about the possible ramifications of these negotiations not only for Israel, but for the entire free world. nObama's vehement opposition to Netanyahu's speech was a desperate sign of how far his political advantage now takes precedence over any concern for the danger that Iranian nuclear weapons will pose to Israel, the Middle East, Europe and even America.

Over the years, Iran's threats to destroy Israel, to "wipe it" from the pages of history or to flatten Tel Aviv and Haifa, have been direct and unambiguous. This last threat was made on March 1 of this year. Joshua Teitelbaum and Michael Segall, at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs, have compiled an exhaustive list of genocidal threats by major Iranian politicians between 2009 and 2012. It is highly unlikely that Barack nObama, Hanoi John Kerry, or anyone else in the U.S. Administration or the State Department have ever read it, or, if they have read it, that they care.

What is worrying more than anything is that the U.S. president and his allies seem not to understand, even a little, the country now working to build nuclear weapons: its culture, its religion, and its apocalyptic obsessions.

nObama seems to think the Iranian leadership is made up of pragmatic politicians who favor an almost areligious approach to world affairs. This calculation seems based on a wished-for interpretation, which is almost secularist, of a religiously-defined and faith-inspired culture.

Let us start with a recent statement by President nObama, made during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on February 9, 2015. nObama argued that a nuclear deal with Iran was possible because "according to their Supreme Leader, it would be contrary to their faith to obtain a nuclear weapon." Sadly, this comment reveals that he is as ignorant of Islamic scripture as he is of Islamic history.

nObama has gone out of his way to say that Islamic terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. He insisted, at a White House summit later in February, that "We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam." But he failed to explain how reams of accurate quotes from centuries of theory and practice of the Qur'an, the hadith (traditions) and works of Islamic jurisprudence, could constitute "perversion."

The Islamic State and other terrorists do not represent an idealized vision of normative Islam, and the majority of Muslims may not even support them. But its scriptural and historical roots frankly have plenty of precedent, and far from minimal support.

If we speak about the faith of the Iranian people, we are ignoring a few small minorities. Shi'i Islam is a very different belief system from Sunni Islam. Regrettably, it seems that neither nObama nor his advisors knows a thing about the theology, history, rituals and mechanisms of Shi'ism, its clerical system, its seminaries, its sects, or its modern manifestations. Many of these matters are very relevant to the question of whether Iran would use nuclear weapons once it had them.

Even if it is unreasonable to expect that the American president embark on a study of the intricate metaphysics of Ishraqi philosophy, Babi apocalypticism, or Usuli ejtehad, at least he has at his disposal universities full of scholars, who could bring him up to speed on the most basic elements in modern post-revolutionary Iranian beliefs. The problem is that he seems not to want to listen to people who might tell him what he does not know, in case he might disagree with it. This wilful blindness calls into question the wisdom of enabling Iran to be a nuclear-armed country -- ever. Unfortunately, a nuclear-armed Iran is something nObama and his supporters apparently intend to make a reality.

Professor Bernard Lewis, in 2009, said on the question of Iran's nuclear weapon, "For most of the Iranian leadership MAD would work as a deterrent, but for Ahmadinejad and his group with their apocalyptic mindset, mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent, it's an inducement."

True, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is no longer the Iranian president, and the current president, Hassan Rouhani is often deemed by the west a pragmatist and a reformer, but the apocalyptic mindset is not something unique to Ahmadinejad and his followers. It has deep roots in Shi'ite belief. That -- plus raw superstition, a large measure of religious fanaticism, and a cult of martyrdom -- makes Iran the most dangerous country on the planet today.

Put another way, if someone boasts of uncontrollable urges to slaughter everyone he considers his enemy, is it really advisable to buy him an assault rifle and a few of boxes of bullets? Imagine what he could do with a batch of nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

According to Jane's Defence Weekly, Iran's longest-range rockets, while "theoretically capable of ICBM ranges," cannot be classified as ICBMs. But the United States Institute of Peace believes Iran already has the largest and most diverse ICBM arsenal in the region, built from foreign imports, notably from North Korea. In the meantime, the regime has long-range missiles capable of delivering nuclear payloads to Israeli cities. On 8 March 2015, at a ceremony in Tehran, Iran unveiled its new Soumar long-range cruise missile. Their Qadr and Qiam missiles can already reach Israel.

The expectation of the coming of a messianic figure called the Mahdi, peripheral in Sunni Islam, has always been a key feature of Shi'ism. In this belief, the war that will bring on the "End of Days" or the Apocalypse, will bring to earth the Mahdi, the "Hidden Imam," a descendent of Mohammad. Then there will be universal peace.

The promise of mankind's liberation through a semi-divine saviour has been at the heart of the Shi'ite faith -- the faith that nObama thinks will not contemplate the use of nuclear arms. The Shi'a identify the Mahdi as the last of their twelve holy Imams, a young boy who disappeared from human sight in the year 260 (872 C.E.), lives in a state of occultation as the Hidden Imam in the celestial cities of Hurqalya and Jabulsa, and will return to earth with a sword to fight a last battle against the forces of unbelief. The form of Shi'ism that is dominant in Iran is the majority Twelver sect, which means that the living presence of the last Imam, and the promise of his return to establish a world of peace and justice, runs through the veins of all believers.

Since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, and especially during the presidency of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2005 to 2013), apocalyptic notions and supernatural influence on political decisions have challenged those who seek a rational and pragmatic approach to state affairs. Perhaps the leading scholar of this trend is Dr. Mehdi Khalaji, a senior fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Khalaji trained in Islamic theology and philosophy for fourteen years in the seminaries in Qom, then in Tehran and Paris. He is now an American citizen who understands the Iranian regime as an insider. His study, "Apocalyptic Politics: On the Rationality of Iranian Policy," should be compulsory reading for anyone who thinks Iran can be approached and negotiated with as a rational partner. Although he was writing about the Ahmadinejad period, his monograph shows substantial evidence that irrationality was not and is not restricted to one man's delusions. According to Ali Rahnema, "... the president's Ahmadinejad's behaviour and utterance and those of his proponents were neither exceptional nor isolated cases in historical terms."

"The Islamic government of Iran," Khalaji writes, "has turned to an apocalyptic vision that brings hope to the oppressed and portrays itself as an antidote to immoral and irreligious behaviour." (p. vii) Perhaps this is merely religious superstition that has no impact on political behaviour. But Khalaji stresses several times that Ahmadinejad was reputed to belong to a secret society that believes in the imminent return of the Hidden Imam. He informs us that "It is very difficult to know precisely what this secret society believes, but some rumours suggest it is eager to control the country's nuclear program." Later, Khalaji points out that the president "juxtaposes the preparation for the return of the Hidden Imam with the collapse of the state of Israel", and chillingly adds that "Ahmadinejad has stated that the Iranian nuclear program is running under the control of the Hidden Imam". Even if the former president is a crank, millions upon millions of Iranian Shi'is have an intense belief in the power of the Mahdi over human affairs.

Between 1997 and 2005, the president of Iran was Mohammad Khatami, since considered as a key figure in the reform movement that sought to replace clerical rule with a more secular system. Although a cleric himself, Khatami opposed Khomeini's theory of rule by religious guardians (velayat-e faqih). Yet even in the years of his second term, 2001-2005, an enhanced yearning for the return of the Twelfth Imam was advocated through selective mosque networks and Islamic associations. That this happened under a genuine reformist, who wanted to bring about a true democracy in Iran, is of considerable importance in any analysis of what may happen under Iran's current president, Hassan Rouhani.

Rouhani has been widely interpreted as a reformer, but the increase in hangings, strictures on veiling, and mistreatment of the Baha'i community under his presidency suggest he is a very different man from Khatami or to those belonging to the suppressed "Green Movement". Khamenei's support for Rouhani is itself indicative of his adherence to traditional norms. There is no sign of a let-up in superstition or the apocalyptic vision under his presidency.

An important sign of the continuing appeal of extreme religious thought and behavior may be found in the growth of a major cult based around what is now a huge mosque complex on the outskirts of Qom, where the more rationalist seminary is located.

Modern Iranian messianism is no longer the passive style of centuries past, but activist, and can lead to military action.

Religiosity and superstition played an equally important part in the Iranian military response to Iraq during the 1980-1988 war between the two countries, during which some 750,000 Iranians died and tens of thousands more were badly wounded.

Throughout the war, religious themes predominated, from calls to jihad, to imitating the events of Karbala, when the Imam Husayn was martyred ("Every day is Ashura, every land is Karbala"). All dead soldiers were lauded as martyrs; even children were sent into battle carrying plastic silver "keys to paradise." The idea was that by fighting the Iraqi army in a war between truth and falsehood, Iranians would hasten the return of the Hidden Imam.

With this sort of thinking -- the willingness to sacrifice, whatever the cost -- it is critical to remember the words of former "reformist" president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in 2000:

"If one day, a very important day, of course, the Islamic World will also be equipped with the weapons available to Israel now, the imperialist strategy will reach an impasse, because the employment of even one atomic bomb inside Israel will wipe it off the face of the earth, but such a bomb would only do damage to the Islamic World. It is not unreasonable to consider this possibility."

Militant messianism is as dangerous as ever today. Expectation of the Hidden Imam and the activist struggle to bring about his advent are not only matters of pious belief. According to Mehdi Khalaji, the former Iranian cleric, apocalyptic ideas have a strong following within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Basij militia. He points out that Ahmadinejad's followers, who believe in the coming apocalypse, "are linked to an influential group of the IRGC that has responsibility over Iran's nuclear program." There is no reason to suppose that this group within the IRGC has abandoned its apocalyptic beliefs, or the link between them and control of nuclear arms.

Iran today resembles a medieval European state more than a modern secularized democracy. The Muharram processions, when men march through city streets naked to the waist while whipping themselves with chains and razor blades, bring to mind the ritual marches of medieval Flagellants. Like the Flagellants, the Shi'a of Iran expect the imminent end of the world.

In a country sunk in economic misery, subject to a harsh system of government and justice, where young people are desperate to flee abroad to seek normal lives, where nothing works, where corruption is rife at all levels, not least among the "spiritual," it is not surprising that so many seek escape through superstition, pilgrimage, writing letters to a man who died centuries ago, and connecting their Saviour's return to military might and the conquest of the world.

The Iranian regime is changeable, with frequent shifts in direction and personnel. President nObama treats the current Iranian president, Hassan Rouhani, as a pragmatist with whom he can do a deal. But Rouhani (who remains a hardliner) is not the most powerful man in the country. Greater power resides in the hands of the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Even that may be about to change, long before Rouhani comes to the end of his term. On the March 5, the Jerusalem Post reported that Khamenei may be close to death. There have been rumours about his cancer for several years, but now it seems he does not have long to live. We do not know what sort of man will replace him, but it is unlikely to be an entirely rational figure, and it could turn out to be a cleric who espouses at least some of the superstitious beliefs outlined above. Nor should we forget that current polls place Mahmoud Ahmadinejad close behind Hassan Rouhani for the 2017 presidential elections. If Iran has nuclear weapons during a third Ahmadinejad term, the risks for humanity will be immense.

Can the world afford to give the green light for building nuclear weapons to a country that is so unstable and so close to justifying the use of such weapons by believing in the nearness of The Last Day?

tnp-eagle.jpg?width=206Just A couple of weeks ago, on March 3rd, the University of California Irvine student government voted. The tally was 6-4-2 in favor of banning the American flag from a lobby on campus all in the name of “cultural inclusivity.”

These students, in an asylum of higher indoctrination claimed it was offensive to illegal aliens.

“The American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism. There were people who were like, ‘the flag triggers me’ – that was their exact wording, too.”

The Executive Leadership of that student government body vetoed the ban but that wasn’t the last word on the topic.

According to the Chancellor of U.C. Irvine…Howard Gillma…“Regardless of your opinion on the display of the American flag, we must be united in protecting the people who make this university a premier institution of higher learning.”

And what of those who are paid by taxpayer dollars to indoctrinate tomorrow’s leaders today? What did the professors, steeped in liberal/socialism for generations have to say regarding this matter???

How did the professors at U.C. Irvine respond to those who voted to BAN our American flag from that campus lobby???

Oh my…

nObama doubles down on Iran nuke deal -   Fox News: “Democrats and Republicans sparred Sunday over congressional involvement in the Iran nuclear agreement, as President nObama attempted to assure critics that the U.S. won’t accept a bad deal… nObama told CBS’ ‘Sunday Morning’ that the U.S. would ‘walk away’ from nuclear talks with Iran if there’s no acceptable deal and that any agreement must allow Western powers to verify that Tehran isn't going to obtain an atomic weapon. ‘If we don’t have that kind of deal, then we're not going to take it,’ he said. nObama also said the U.S. and others still would have ‘enough time to take action,’  if Iran ‘cheated’… ‘The Iranian parliament will get to say yes or no on this deal,’ Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson, a Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told ‘Fox News Sunday.’ ‘I think the United States Congress should have that exact same input into the process.’ Johnson said a bill cosponsored by Illinois GOP Sen. Mark Kirk and New Jersey Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez addresses that issue and that the Senate is scheduled to begin working on the legislation in the coming days.”  -Fox News

 MORNING PEOPLE PUNISHED POINTLESSLY
Feeling a bit groggy today? Did you commute to work in the dark again? Not surprising since the government mandated that you wake up an hour earlier this morning (and every day until Nov. 1). The rationale for the creation and expansion of Daylight Savings Time was to save energy. The original idea was said to be Ben Franklin’s, but it became part of the mainstream American experience under President Woodrow Wilson during World War I. Wilson famously tried to keep the regime in place after the war, but Congress overruled him, even overriding his veto. The practice returned during World War II and was maintained by some local governments after the war. The time-shifters fought and won a long battle, eventually pushing through legislation in 1966 that required states to adopt uniform standards and gave the federal government authority over starting and stopping Daylight Savings Time. Today, every state except Arizona and Hawaii obeys. But does it work? Nope. WaPo passes along a study from time-zone-crazy Indiana that revealed that the shift wastes energy. Why? Because whatever electricity people are saving by having more sunlight in the evening is outstripped by the energy used for heating in the chillier, earlier mornings and cooling in the evening.

Hilly Email Scandal Catches nObama in Transparency Untruth
Hilly Clinton has addressed her private email scandal so far only with a lone tweet, although she reportedly plans to publicly address the issue today. But Barack nObama has already taken plenty of flak on the subject. Over the weekend, CBS News asked nObama when he learned of Clinton's private account. "The same time everybody else learned it -- through news reports," nObama replied. "The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency, which is why my emails, the BlackBerry I carry around, all those records are available and archived." But that little untruth was undermined by nObama's spokesman, Josh Earnest, who admitted Monday that nObama emailed Hilly at her private account. Earnest told reporters, "The president, as I think many people expected, did over the course of his first several years in office trade emails with his secretary of state. I would not describe the number of emails as large, but they did have the occasion to email each other." Unlike Technology subcommittee member Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), nObama knows how to use email; his oft-repeated story of incompetence can't help him in this instance.  -The Patriot Post

Social Security Continuing to Implement Amnesty Actions
It was the logical next step. If illegal immigrants are getting Social Security numbers, then they are going to collect benefits. Stephen Goss, chief actuary for the Social Security Administration, wrote a letter to Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) claiming that by 2017 some 16,000 illegal immigrants amnestied by Barack nObama's executive action would start receiving Social Security benefits. Furthermore, Goss admitted the agency is ignoring the injunction blocking the implementation of nObama's executive decrees. In the letter, Goss wrote, "Based on the best advice and counsel we have gotten, we're working on the assumption that these [mass amnesty actions] will persist. Most indications we seem to get are that it's likely that this will get back on track, with some delay." This is the administration that has 6.5 million active Social Security numbers for people 112 years old or older. Put another way, the administration is rife with bad record keeping, fraud and a host of illegal immigrants who are using stolen numbers to stay in the country. More...

AP Sues State Department, Seeking Access To Clinton Records
AP Sues State Department, Seeking Access To Clinton Records
(STEVE PEOPLES, AP) - The Associated Press filed a lawsuit Wednesday against the State Department to force the release of email correspondence and government documents from Hilly Rodham Clinton's tenure as secretary of state...The legal action comes after repeated requests filed under the U.S. Freedom of Information Act have gone unfulfilled. They include one request AP made five years ago and others pending since the summer of 2013. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, comes a day after Clinton broke her silence about her use of a private email account while secretary of state. The FOIA requests and lawsuit seek materials related to her public and private calendars, correspondence involving longtime aides likely to play key roles in her expected campaign for president, and Clinton-related emails about the Osama bin Laden raid and National Security Agency surveillance practices.       http://nation.foxnews.com/2015/03/11/ap-sues-state-department-seeking-access-clinton-records?cmpid=NL_foxnation

Samira Yerou was arrested March 7 at Barcelona's airport, on suspicion of running a jihadist recruiting network.

Spain: "The Mediterranean Corridor of Jihadism"
(Soeren Kern) - Spanish police have arrested a Moroccan woman on suspicion of running a jihadist recruiting network for the Islamic State...Samira Yerou, 32, was arrested at Barcelona's El Prat airport on March 7 upon her arrival on a flight from Turkey, where authorities had detained her for trying illegally to enter Syria with her three-year-old son, a Spanish citizen. Police say Yerou, who lives in Rubí, a Catalan town situated 15 kilometers north of Barcelona, disappeared in December 2014, while her son's father, a Moroccan-Spaniard, was away on a trip to Morocco. Spanish authorities issued an international warrant for Yerou's arrest. (Under the new law, anyone convicted of carrying out a terrorist attack will be subject to a life sentence (35 years) without the possibility of parole. The law also calls for 20-year sentences for anyone convicted of supplying weapons to terrorists, or ten-year sentences for funding terror networks.)       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5368/spain-mediterranean-jihadism

Watcher’s Council Nominations – ‘Delete To The Beat’ Edition
(nicedeb.wordpress.com) - Hilly Clinton is one of those people who should have resolved a long time ago never to lie. She's absolutely awful at it. Aside from violating the Federal Records Act, there's also the question of National Security...Unless Mrs. Clinton spent a great deal of money encrypting her private server to government standards, her illegal account was an open invitation to foreign governments or even private hackers to gain access to her account and spy on what she insists were 'mostly private e-mails' that had nothing to do with government affairs, something I think we all pretty much know is horse manure. No matter how you slice it, this is a gross violation of federal law, something Hilly Clinton had full knowledge of when she did it. Me, I still want to know what happened to that $6 billion in State Department funding that mysteriously 'disappeared' while she was Secretary of State, and about those mysterious donations from foreign countries like Algeria to the Clinton Foundation.       https://nicedeb.wordpress.com/2015/03/11/watchers-council-nominations-delete-to-the-beat-edition/

Dept Of Energy: In Green Propaganda, Research, Debt, Grants
(rickwells.us) - Most Americans would agree that a department dedicated to energy production would be a wonderful thing, particularly in a time when we rely heavily upon imports...Many of us believe we already have such a department. That’s how it was sold to the American people back in 1977. That’s the year President Jimmy Carter, a CFR and Trilateral Commission member, ushered through the Congress a bill creating the Department of Energy, which he signed on August 4th. In his remarks at the signing, Carter said, “I want to point out that the Department can now, I think, begin to deal in a much more aggressive and effective way not only with the needs of suppliers to increase the production of oil, gas, coal, solar, nuclear powers, but also to make sure that consumers of our country are treated fairly, that prices are adequate and not excessive. Many of us look back on the oil crises as our first experience with a federal government that made declarations which didn’t quite pass the smell test. The overnight discovery that we had a dinosaur shortage and the resulting corrections made “on our behalf” didn’t add up at the time. We still haven’t run out of oil in spite of claims government propaganda to the contrary for the last forty plus years.       http://www.rickwells.us/picking-our-pockets-dept-of-energy-specializes-in-green-propaganda-research-debt-grants-energy-what-energy/

Hilly Email: It Was Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills Executing The Plan
(theconservativetreehouse.com) - Earlier today Steve Hayes reported that Hilly aides Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills also used the “clintonmail” personal email scheme to communicate and avoid disclosure...Now the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Huma and Cheryl were key players in the original plan to set up the communication network. A private server had obvious advantages. It would give Mrs. Clinton more control over her email, people familiar with her team’s reasoning said. Privately, aides of the former president worried that adding her account would make the system a target for hackers. They also weren’t aware she would use it for all her official correspondence. That decision has now invited the kind of relentless public scrutiny it was designed to avoid, while also maximizing Mrs. Clinton’s control over sensitive email correspondence that that she might not want to get out. Is this passing the buck or kicking the can down the road?       http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2015/03/11/report-on-hillary-email-apparently-it-was-huma-abedin-and-cheryl-mills-executing-the-plan/

Judge Hanen Orders Imperial “Pres” To Explain Why DOJ Lied

(rickwells.us) - Ed Klein is the author of the book “Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. The nObamas,” a descriptive account of the genuine hard feelings between the Clintons and the nObamas...He details insider information which reveals the belief on the part of both of the Clintons that Hussein nObama and Valerie Jarrett are behind her current email problems which threaten to completely derail her hopes of becoming president.  Gowdy: Hilly Hasn’t Provided Emails From Her Flight To Libya
(gopthedailydose.com) - Republican lawmaker and overall conservative pitbull Trey Gowdy has been unwilling to simply nod along with the lies that emanate so routinely from this administration...Now, according to a report from Western Journalism, Gowdy is claiming that there are huge gaps remaining in the emails he has seen concerning Hilly Clinton’s time during her trip to Libya in the aftermath of the Benghazi terrorist attacks.  Mitch McCon-nell says he will fight really, really hard this time
(redstate.com) - First and foremost, given the answers provided by Loretta Lynch during her confirmation hearing, it is a travesty that she was voted out of committee. She is clearly not a big fan of the rule of law or the rights of Americans in general rather that enhanced rights for every racial/ethnic/sexual minority with an axe to grind...Every day she is not confirmed is a day that America is safer. That her vote should even be offered as a concession is just offensive. There is precious little evidence that this drama, the children’s matinee at Failure Theater, is anything more than McCon-nell trying to show conservatives how super tough he is. If McCon-nell was really going to use the Lynch nomination as a bargaining chip he should have used it when it mattered: on the DHS bill. But he didn’t. He forfeited a chance to refuse to fund nObama’s amnesty, a position that had wide national support and he could have done so by inflicting a little temporary pain on a very unpopular and superfluous agency headquarters. Now he is now holding up a bill that most Americans support — one that allegedly will have an impact on human trafficking — for the sake of an unrelated amendment that will be used to beat the GOP. In fact, the whole story smells like something cooked up by dinky Reid and McCon-nell to give McCon-nell a little breathing room to further betray conservatives:       http://www.redstate.com/2015/03/11/mitch-mcconnell-says-will-fight-really-really-hard-time/
The Wrong “America Works”
Andrew Klavan
Kevin Spacey
(city-journal.org) - Most Hollywood fictions can be relied upon to rewrite conservative truth into left-wing fantasy. In real life, the staunch Cold Warrior president John F. Kennedy is assassinated by a Communist for the sake of Communism. At the movies, Oliver Stone turns Kennedy into a peacenik killed by a vast right-wing conspiracy. In real life, a married Democratic president faces credible charges of philandering and mistreatment of women. Onscreen, Michael Douglas magically transforms him into an unmarried man of integrity excoriated by the puritanical right for falling deeply in love with an accomplished woman his own age. In real life, leftists in the news media attempt to discredit a Republican president by creating a nonsensical scandal out of the Valerie Plame kerfuffle. At the multiplex, the scandal becomes deadly real and Vice President Dick Cheney (who had nothing to do with any of it) is somehow behind it all.

We’ve all become so accustomed to this leftward rejiggering of history that watching Netflix’s TV series House of Cards can be a weird and confusing experience. On the one hand, by dramatizing the rise of a corrupt, soulless Democratic pol willing to break any law, betray any principle, and literally throw his opponents under trains to acquire power—and by showing a Republican opposition too bumbling and cowardly to oppose his ruthless machinations—the series hews so close to the facts that it can hardly be called fiction at all. But when it comes to portraying the actual nuts and bolts of day-to-day policy making, the show sometimes seems to take place in an unidentifiable political Wonderland.

In the first season, House majority whip Frank Underwood—the soulless Democrat in question, played by the wonderful Kevin Spacey—seeks serious entitlement reform in spite of opposition from Republicans. He also stands up to the teachers’ unions in hopes of improving education. One can be forgiven for wondering on which planet this is taking place.

Then, in the present third season, Underwood, now risen to the White House, seeks to reform Social Security and other entitlement programs that are “sucking this country dry,” in order to fund a program that will get people off the welfare rolls and put them to work. When I heard those ideas come out of the mouth of a Democrat, I thought for a moment I had accidentally switched to the SyFy network.

But to add to the confusion, the name of Underwood’s $500 billion job proposal is America Works. Only it’s not at all like the real America Works, which actually works, but much more like nObamanomics, which hardly works at all.

Underwood’s America Works—as Jon Hartley notes in Forbes—looks a lot like nObama’s $787 billion America Recovery and Reinvestment Act, which was supposed to create 7 million new jobs and bring the unemployment rate down below 7 percent by 2010. None of that happened. In fact, the drop in the unemployment rate didn’t really get started until Republicans finally found the guts to put an end to unemployment benefits in 2013. This they managed to do despite the fact that Democrats like nObama and Nancy Pulosi kept claiming that unemployment insurance was actually creating jobs itself. By that logic we would have reached full employment once everyone was out of work!

The real-life America Works, however, was formed in 1984 as a response to the abject failure of government attempts to end poverty. In an Autumn 2012 City Journal piece, America Works founder Peter Cove described how his experience as “a foot soldier in America’s War on Poverty,” led him to create the initiative:
We know for certain that income transfers, the preferred tactic of generations of liberals, have utterly failed to end poverty . . . . I learned that if we helped welfare clients get jobs, even entry-level jobs, they would then attend to their other needs. By contrast, if the government gave them money and other benefits, they were likely to remain dependent.
The reasons should have been obvious all along. Work maximizes a person’s capacity to achieve economic self-reliance. Work socializes people and instills a sense of personal responsibility in them. Work connects behavior and consequences. And it permits people, especially men, to obtain the admiration and respect of their spouses and children by supporting them.

America Works set itself up as a job agency for state and local welfare agencies. It took payment only when it placed clients in jobs, and the clients held those jobs for at least four months. It claims to have taken more than 300,000 people off the welfare rolls and to have inspired the 1996 Welfare Reform Act. And still, Cove reports, the initiative is viewed with suspicion by those people whose ideology—and power—requires dependency and the big government that encourages it.

I suppose it’s realistic enough that the soulless Democrat Underwood would ignore a private America Works that works in order to propose a government America Works that doesn’t work. But it would have been nice if he hadn’t further muddied the show’s muddy politics by putting a good name to bad policy.

Democrats Reload on Ammo Ban

After 90,000 comments and condemnation from congressional Republicans, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives backed away from its proposal to ban the 5.56 M855 “green tip” ammunition. But congressional Democrats have taken the idea, expanded the breadth of the proposed ammo ban, and run with it. In a letter to the ATF, Democrats encourage the bureau to move fast and use its “existing authority” to limit any rifle cartridge that can be fired from a handgun. Democrats wrote, “We hope that the Bureau will swiftly review comments on the proposed framework and issue a revised proposal that will address the danger posed by handguns that fire 5.56mm and other rifle ammunition.” They have introduced legislation in the House to ban the green-tipped rounds, and Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) said she would introduced a broader bill to ban even more forms of armor-piercing ammunition. Because cops wear light body armor and there are some unique pistols out there (Thompson Contender pistol chambered in 30-30, anybody?), Democrats are opening the door for potentially banning all center-fire rounds. And the ATF welcomes this lobbying. Its director, B. Todd Jones, said “any 5.56 round” threatens the safety of police officers – a distorted fear if ever there was one.

Also note that Barack Obama’s spokesman Josh Earnest promised, “The president’s commitment to putting in place common-sense rules that will protect Second Amendment rights, but also prevent those who shouldn’t have firearms from getting them, is as strong as ever. I think the president’s own personal conviction on this matter has been pretty evident to those who have watched his public comments.”

Nobody Even Read Hillary’s Deleted Emails

Hillary Clinton deleted her “personal” emails wholesale – without so much as reading them first. Fox News' Chris Stirewalt writes, “How did Hillary Clinton know that the tens of thousands of emails from her time in office she ordered destroyed were personal? Did she or even her staff scroll through her sent items scanning emails about ‘yoga routines’ or ‘family vacations’ before deleting them? Nope. No one looked at them. The Clinton campaign said those emails that did not crop up in a keyword search performed by her team were automatically deleted. No eyes. No one to be subpoenaed. Just highlight all and press delete. That method seems better for missing emails than to finding them. And it would sound reckless and haphazard coming from another politician. In this case, though, it sounds like a woman covering her tracks in preparation for a long and bloody legal fight over subpoenas to come.” The story isn’t going to go away just because Clinton hit the delete key. More…

Did Hillary Commit a Felony?

Hillary Clinton’s email scandal continues to yield serious questions. According to The Washington Examiner, “Clinton, like all departing federal employees, was required to fill out and sign a separation statement [Form OF-109] affirming that she had turned over all classified and other government documents, including all emails dealing with official business.” Did Clinton sign the form? The State Department refuses to say just yet. If not, why not? And if so, did she commit a felony? “There’s no question” she did, says Shannen Coffin, former counsel to Dick Cheney. “There’s no doubt … that wherever the secretary had those records – if she had them in her Chappaqua home, if she had them in her office, if she had them somewhere else – she’s got to bring all of the records to the table, and turn over any official records at the time of her departure,” Coffin said. “Not – most definitely not – two years later.” He added, “The form itself says, ‘Hey, before you sign this, understand that you are certifying something that we can prosecute you for. Making a false statement in this context, knowingly and willfully’ – which, I can’t imagine anything more knowing and willful than knowing you have 55,000 records sitting in your home – ‘if you do that, it is a felony.’” Clinton’s flippant dismissal of questions at her Tuesday press conference left many things unanswered. And she’s looking worse all the time.

Don’t Mess Up the Ferguson Narrative

Barack Obama swapped jokes with ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel last night, laughing it up at the expense of a few million bucks in taxpayer-funded security. But he also turned to a serious note, speaking about the two police officers shot in Ferguson. He extended brief condolences to the wounded officers and their families before launching into predictable race-bait. “[W]hat had been happening in Ferguson was oppressive and objectionable and was worthy of protest,” Obama asserted. “But there was no excuse for criminal acts. And whoever fired those shots shouldn’t detract from the issue. They’re criminals, they need to be arrested.” He later added, “[T]here was a whole structure there, according to the Justice Department report, that indicated both racism and just a disregard for what law enforcement’s supposed to do. As I’ve said before … it is not unique, but it’s also not the norm.” Obama isn’t directly responsible for the actions of the criminal who fired on police, but he isn’t helping the situation either. It is not appropriate for the leader of this country to repeatedly tell angry rioters and looters they have perfectly legitimate grievances against racist cops. But that’s why you don’t put a community organizer in the White House.

Holder Says Ferguson Shooter Was a ‘Damn Punk’

Attorney General Eric Holder responded quickly to news that two Ferguson police officers were shot Wednesday night during a round of protests. “What happened last night was a pure ambush,” Holder said. “This was not someone trying to bring healing to Ferguson. This was a damn punk – a punk – who was trying to sow discord in an area that is trying to get its act together, and trying to bring together a community that has been fractured for too long.” He continued, “This really disgusting and cowardly attack might’ve been intended to unravel any sense of progress that exists, but I hope that that does not happen.” He’s right about a punk not trying to bring healing. But Holder’s Justice Department just released a report finding generally racist practices in the Ferguson Police Department, and Holder has spent the better part of a year blasting racist police. Forgive us for thinking he – like his boss – sounds a bit more concerned about damage to the narrative than the lives of the officers.

RIGHT ANALYSIS

$16 Million Bill

2015-03-13-15e3b91c_large.jpg

The Clintons have done quite well for themselves since January 2001, when they grabbed $190,000 worth of china, flatware, furniture and rugs on their way out the White House doors – thank you very much. No, really, thank you, the American taxpayer.

Multimillion-dollar book deals, lucrative speaking engagements and whatever it is they do at the Clinton Foundation account for the bulk of the Clintons' vast wealth. These, though, are not the only reasons that Bill and Hillary are so well off. Thanks to the Former Presidents Act, taxpayers will have given Bill a collective $16 million by Election Day next year for a variety of expenses about which, predictably, no one really knows too much.

A recent analysis by Politico revealed that the former president has received more money through the Act than any other ex-president. The total accumulation of his pension through 2016 amounts to $3.1 million, including $218,000 this year and $221,000 allocated for next year.

The General Services Administration, which disburses the money, also allocates money for personnel salaries, accounting for nearly $3 million of the $16 million Bill has received since 2001. The GSA doesn’t dictate how that money is to be spent, so there is little information on who’s received how much, other than that most post-presidential employees receive compensation from additional sources. Politico notes that Laura Graham, one of the top Clinton Foundation officials, has seen her salary more than double since 2005. Tina Flournoy, Bill’s chief of staff, is also believed to be on the GSA payroll, having come from Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Another GSA payment includes $947,000 for communications-related costs and equipment. This vague category can include furniture or even technological hardware and software. Like an email server, perhaps.

The Clinton Foundation insists that Bill paid out of his own pocket for the secret server Hillary used during her time at the State Department. But since a big chunk of his money comes from taxpayers, and his money-making entertainment value is wholly derived from his time as president, it’s difficult for him to claim he bought the hardware using the fruits of his own labor.

Incidentally, that server, which the Clintons claim resides at the Clintons' home base in Chappaqua, New York, is protected, like the rest of the residence, by a full-time Secret Service detail. Presidents and their immediate family members receive lifetime protection paid for by taxpayers separately from the Former Presidents Act.

This new information puts the lie to Hillary’s inane statement about the Clintons being “not only dead broke, but in debt” when they left the White House. At no time were they ever even remotely close to poverty. Hillary’s claim, meant to paint her and her husband as working-class heroes, was widely and rightly ridiculed. Since the day Bill left office, the Clintons have been part of the One Percent – make that the 0.001 Percent – and they are likely to remain there for the rest of their days, thanks in part to taxpayers.

Furthermore, Politico’s story raises once again the question of whether the Former Presidents Act has outlived its usefulness, or if at the very least it should be revisited. Enacted in 1958 to “preserve the dignity of the office,” the Act was inspired by Harry Truman’s post-presidency dire financial straits. Never good with personal finances, Truman was close to losing it all before Congress stepped in to offer a pension that could preserve a certain level of comfort for him and all future ex-presidents.

These days, however, presidents leave office with multiple tracks to financial prosperity. They receive lucrative book deals, scores of six-figure speaking opportunities, invitations to join corporate boards, consulting contracts, you name it.

Pete Sepp, president of the National Taxpayers Union, and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) have led a move to cap former presidents' benefits at $400,000 per year, with deductions equal to any private-sector compensation they receive beyond that number. As Chaffetz said in 2012, “There’s little reason why American taxpayers should be subsidizing these former presidents when they’re doing fine on their own.”

Clearly, Bill is doing more than fine, and by extension so is Hillary. As a (probable) presidential candidate, she benefits from a political existence based entirely on the fact that her husband was president. Her time as a carpet-bagging senator from New York and as secretary of state were offshoots of Bill’s presidency. She received name recognition, public attention and unwavering media adoration that couldn’t be bought or crafted by the country’s sharpest PR firms. She’s not a very good politician in her own right, and it’s laughable to imagine, say, a Hillary Rodham Smith making it this far.

Countering Iran’s Newfound Influence

2015-03-13-96a6c54b_large.jpg

Despite the stirring words of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to a joint session of Congress and the letter signed by 47 Republican Senators reminding Iran that any nuclear deal with the Obama administration is non-binding unless Congress approves it, nations around the Middle East are now acting as if a nuclear Iran is a fait accompli.

Moreover, where the United States once acted as a counterbalance in the region by our presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, we’re now forced to admit Iran’s lead role in fighting ISIL in Iraq is, as Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey put it, “a positive thing.” In fact, it’s the consequence of Barack Obama’s unwillingness to again put “boots on the ground” in Iraq.

Iran is having a far easier time virtually taking over Iraq now than it did in an unsuccessful war during the 1980s. As The Wall Street Journal notes, Iran’s latest military excursion into fighting ISIL in Iraq could eventually win them a “Shiite arc of power” stretching from Tehran to the Mediterranean through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon.

Worried that a nuclear Iran will soon come to pass and concerned about Tehran’s influence in a recent coup in neighboring Yemen, Saudi Arabia found its own nuclear sponsor by recently signing a memorandum of understanding with South Korea for a feasibility study of building two nuclear reactors in the kingdom. Seeing that the Saudis are awash with oil and knowing they have vowed to “match the nuclear capabilities Iran is allowed to maintain as part of any final agreement reached with world powers,” it’s crystal clear to all but those unwilling to see that the Iranian deal opens the door to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East, just as Netanyahu warned earlier this month.

We’ve heard statements that the deal with Iran is non-binding, or that the mullahs are much more moderate than in the past. But in that region of the world, talk is cheap and actions speak most clearly. The lack of leadership and willingness to throw away our hard-won advantages gained over the last decade told the Saudis all they needed to know about where America stands these days.

President George W. Bush assigned Iran to the “axis of evil,” but Obama believes Iran can negotiate in good faith. Perhaps we can self-correct this line of thought in the next election, but it’s plain the Saudis don’t want to take that chance.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Japanese Proverb: “The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of one hour.”

Columnist Linda Chavez: “There is no doubt that the Ferguson Police Department has major problems and needs reform. … [Its] policy encourages police to make more traffic stops, conduct more searches, issue more tickets and make more arrests and the courts to issue more warrants and fines to drive up revenues. It’s a lousy policy – but one not unique to Ferguson. If the Justice Department were truly serious about changing the abuses more broadly, it would have conducted a larger study that looked at similar patterns in other localities – including largely white tourist towns, where traffic tickets are often a huge source of revenue. But Holder isn’t interested in the insatiable appetite of government for more revenues. He came to Ferguson in search of racism – and of course, he found it. … In every study of racial attitudes among Americans, whites are no likelier to harbor prejudices against people of other races than are blacks, Hispanics or Asians. Eric Holder will leave office as early as next week if the Senate confirms Loretta Lynch to be his successor. It will be none too soon. A man who could have done much to improve race relations will instead leave behind a sorry legacy of inflaming racial tensions when the nation most needed a healer.”

Columnist Charles Krauthammer: “Mrs. Clinton’s other major declaration was that the server containing the emails – owned, controlled and housed by her – ‘will remain private.’ Meaning: No one will get near them. This she learned not from Watergate but from Whitewater. Her husband acquiesced to the appointment of a Whitewater special prosecutor. Hillary objected strenuously. Her fear was that once someone is empowered to search, the searcher can roam freely. In the Clintons' case, it led to impeachment because when the Lewinsky scandal broke, the special prosecutor added that to his portfolio. Hillary was determined never to permit another open-ended investigation. Which is why she decided even before being confirmed as secretary of state that only she would control her email. … The point of regulations is to ensure government transparency. The point of owning the server is to ensure opacity. … What you’re feeling now is Early Onset Clinton Fatigue. The CDC is recommending elaborate precautions. Forget it. The only known cure is Elizabeth Warren.”

Ferguson's REAL Racists Take Aim at Cops

By Craig Andresen – The National Patriot and Right Side Patriots oncprworldwidemedia.net

cop-1.jpg?width=255In the early morning hours on Thursday, in Ferguson Missouri, two cops were shot. One in the shoulder the other in the face.

It was revenge for what happened on an August afternoon.

That’s when Mike Brown and his weasel, Dorian Johnson, strode into a convenience store and took what wasn’t theirs to take. Brown roughed up the store owner who dared to stand in his way before walking out into the street.

Officer Darren Wilson attempted to get the two thugs out of the street and onto the sidewalk and that is when Brown attacked the cop…tried to take the cop’s weapon and then started to walk away. Upon being told to stop and surrender, Brown then charged right at the cop who opened fire and moments later, the thief and thug…Mike Brown…was dead.

The community of Al Sharpton…the community of Jesse Jackson…of Eric Holder, the New Black Panthers and the community of Barack Hussein Obama first sought their revenge by burning and looting the businesses of Ferguson Missouri but when the weather turned cold and the fires died down, the thugs and thieves of the Sharpton, Jackson, Holder, Panther and Obama community put their collective liberal/socialist hands in the air and crawled back under their rocks.

Hands Up…Don’t Shoot…

CLINTON CLAIM: NO WORK EMAILS FROM THE DAY OF   FAMOUS BLACKBERRY PHOTO
The Hill: “Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), the chairman of the House select committee investigating Benghazi, said that there is a period of missing Hilly Clinton emails from her time as secretary of State spanning several months.  ‘There are gaps of months, and months and months,’ Gowdy said Sunday on CBS’s ‘Face the Nation.’ ‘If you think to that iconic picture of her on a C-17 flying to Libya – she has sunglasses on and she has her handheld device in her hand – we have no emails from that day. In fact, we have no emails from that trip,’ Gowdy said…”
On your own, Hill - "If they screwed up on the emails, if we find out they skipped over her emails . . . then that will be a problem for them, it’ll be a scandal. But it’s not one that we’ll own." – “a senior administration official” speaking to the WSJ.  -Fox News

JEB NEEDS CONSERVATIVE CRACKUP; KASICH RISING;   CARSON FADES
His first Iowa foray behind him, Jeb Bush has further solidified his position as the party’s establishment choice and the frontrunner for 2016. Jeb’s tougher push and the biggest threat to his overall nomination remains winning over the social conservative and libertarian wing of the party. A point that stretches beyond Iowa’s corn fields and is underlined in the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, which found a divide among conservative GOP primary voters with “48% saying that could see themselves backing Mr. Bush and 45% saying they couldn’t.” But the biggest concern for Bush remains the durability (so far) of conservative support for Gov. Scott Walker. To win, Bush needs conservatives divided in their loyalties and for his potential top rivals to keep pulling each other down the ladder.
[Des Moines Register: “Bush did six events plus several one-on-one meetings in two markets — Des Moines and Cedar Rapids — in 24 hours. He turned some heads on Friday and Saturday, describing himself as the most successful conservative governor in Florida history and saying his record of accomplishment ‘is what's necessary right now for our country to get back on track’”]  -Fox News

Cruz and Perry resist pandering on corporate welfare -   [Fort Worth] Star-Telegram: “Texas Sen. [Ted Cruz’s] and former Gov. [Rick Perry’s]… messages at the Iowa Ag Summit were occasionally at odds with what some members of the audience wanted to hear… Cruz, a Republican, was the most blunt when [Iowa ethanol mogul Bruce Rastetter] asked him about the Renewable Fuel Standard, which sets a minimum amount of biofuels that must be blended into the gasoline supply. ‘The answer you’d like to me to give is I’m for the RFS,’ Cruz told Rastetter. ‘That’d be a pretty easy thing to do.’ But Cruz, who has called for phasing out the RFS program over five years, said Americans are fed up with ‘career politicians’ who pander to voters, especially in places like Iowa, with its outsized role in the presidential nominating process.  Perry was equally unapologetic for his opposition to the RFS, saying he has no regrets about unsuccessfully seeking a federal waiver from the mandate as governor during a corn-sapping drought a few years ago in Texas.”  -Fox News

MCCON-NELL VOWS NO SHUTDOWN AS DEBT LIMIT FIGHT   NEARS

Call it Daedalus’ revenge. Early this morning, Solar Impulse lifted off from Abu Dhabi, attempting to become the first plane to trek around the globe without using fuel. The solar cells recharge four lithium polymer batteries. The company says the plane has a 72-meter (236-foot) wingspan, larger than that of the Boeing 747, but weighs about as much as a car at around [5,070 pounds]… The round-the-world trip is expected to end in late July or even August.” You can follow Solar Impulse on its journey and watch live video from the cockpit here-Fox News

Amnesty judge gets tough with defiant nObama
(
Bob Unruh) - The federal judge who ordered a halt to President nObama’s amnesty-for-millions plan now is telling federal attorneys to come to his courtroom in Brownsville, Texas, and explain why someone issued three-year deportation exemptions and work authorizations to 100,000 people before the program was scheduled to begin...U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen issued an order Monday for the lawyers to be at a hearing in his courtroom March 19, the Herald newspaper in Brownsville reported. Hanen’s preliminary injunction stopped nObama’s executive actions on amnesty before the government was to begin accepting applications from qualified illegal aliens Feb. 18.       http://www.wnd.com/2015/03/amnesty-judge-gets-tough-with-defiant-obama/?AID=7236

 Hilly’s Emailgate Explained
(Bethany Stotts) - Clinton’s 2016 presidential chances undoubtedly have been harmed by the revelation that she exclusively used a private email address while serving as Secretary of State...But while the media remain mired in calculations about whether Mrs. Clinton can survive this latest crisis, and who the villains are in this unfolding story, additional questions call out for answers. Mrs. Clinton made many claims at her press conference on Tuesday. The media shouldn’t simply regurgitate them wholesale, as the AP has done, but rather they should approach them with due skepticism.           http://www.aim.org/aim-column/hillarys-emailgate-explained/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email031115&utm_medium=email

Why was Sid Blumenthal advising Hilly Clinton on Libya?
(Kenneth R. Timmerman) - Until Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) revealed last week that his Benghazi Select Committee was investigating Hilly Clinton’s use of a private email server for her official State Department communications...no one had a good explanation for why none of the Congressional committees that had previously investigated Benghazi had ever cited a single Hilly Clinton email in their reports. Congressional Democrats had been pooh-poohing Gowdy’s investigation, claiming that all the important questions about Benghazi had been “asked and answered” by previous committees. Now the best that Gowdy’s counterpart, Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), can do is object to subpoenas (especially when they are issued to Hilly Clinton in person, through Counsel), and to huff and puff about the investigation becoming a “surrogate” for the “Republican National Committee.”       http://www.aim.org/aim-column/why-was-sid-blumenthal-advising-hillary-clinton-on-libya/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email031115&utm_medium=email

 Clinton: Delete? Hard Drive Destroyed?
(AMY CHOZICK and MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT) - Mrs. Clinton said that the server that housed her email address had been set up on property guarded by the Secret Service, and that there had been no security breaches...She said she had never emailed classified material to anyone. It is unclear if the emails were deleted irretrievably, and a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton declined to elaborate on how she had erased the correspondence. “If the emails were on a server in her house and she deleted them, there’s a chance the emails could still be on the server’s hard drive if you forensically examine it,” said Chester Wisniewski, a senior security adviser at the computer security firm Sophos. “To make sure the emails are really destroyed, you would have to physically destroy the hard drive, which many companies and places like the Defense Department often do.” Mr. Wisniewski said that if the emails were kept on a third-party provider, they were less likely to be recoverable.       http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/11/us/hillary-clinton-email.html?_r=1

 Factions Pick Over Syria's Bones
(Jonathan Spyer) - In the latest blow to supporters of the "moderate" elements among the Syrian rebels, the Harakat Hazm "Movement of Determination" last week announced that it was disbanding...Hazm was never a large group. It never possessed more than around 5,000 fighters and was active only in northwest Syria. But for a period of time, it was held up by those who supported arming the Sunni Arab rebels as the kind of militia that the U.S. and the west could get behind. It had ties neither to the Salafi jihadists nor to the Muslim Brotherhood. Nor was it given to the kind of open and florid corruption favored by some of the other "secular" groupings in Syria's north.       http://www.meforum.org/5097/four-rival-factions-pick-over-syria-bones

Al-Aqsa Mosque Address: May the Muslims Wage War on America
(pamelageller.com) - These are the people nObama is pressing the Israelis to make concessions with in order to establish “peace.” nObama knows what he is about. Six years into his presidency, there is no doubt about that...Speaking at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, Palestinian Arab researcher calls on Muslims to pray that Allah will enable them to wage war on America. The researcher, Ahmad Al-Khatwani, also known as “Abu Hamza”, declared that Muslims should pray that Allah will enable them to wage war on America and vanquish it. Abu Hamza also expressed his desire that the Muslims “raid America on its own land.” The address was given on February 18, 2015, and was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI).       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38Ng732IYuU

House Dems Send Letter to U.S. Adversary Opposition to the Pres
(Erick Erickson) - Coming on the heels of the revelation that 47 Republican Senators sent a letter to Iran undermining President nObama’s ambitions in the country...I can now report to you that a number of Democrats, including the former Speaker, have engaged in the same behavior. They sent a letter to one of our clear adversaries and declared their opposition to the President’s foreign policy in the country and their opposition to American military action. Further, the Democrats sought assurances from the regime separate from the assurances and demands of the President’s Administration. I an utterly dumbfounded the media has refused to report on this. It might be because history did not begin until the Obama Administration for most reporters these days and this was actually from March 20, 1984. That is the day the Democratic Leader of the House and soon to be Speaker, Jim Wright, and a number of his congressional colleagues, sent a letter to communist leader “Commandante” Daniel Ortega. The press then too gave the “Dear Commandante” letter writers a pass in a way they refuse to give Republicans a pass. It is worth pointing out that the Speaker at the time of this letter was Tip O’Neil whose chief of staff was Chris Matthews. Matthews is now calling on the 47 Republicans to be prosecuted under the Logan Act. Neither he nor his boss objected to the “Dear Commandante” letter.       http://www.redstate.com/2015/03/11/breaking-house-democrats-send-letter-to-u-s-adversary-pledging-opposition-to-the-president/

 The Cotton letter and Iran
(Danielle Pletka) - Let’s step back a moment and ask ourselves why 47 US Senators would send a letter to the Supreme Leader about a possible deal between the United States and Iran...Could it be because they do not know the contents of that deal? Possibly, are they not being briefed about the terms? Is it at all conceivable they are not being updated on the nature of the negotiations? Does anyone think the Department of State has shared its legal opinion as to how sanctions can be relieved without congressional action? Has the administration made concessions that allow Iran to have a nuclear capability despite violating its safeguards agreements? Is it the administration’s position that so-called possible military dimensions (PMDs) of Iran’s program are the business of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), not the United States? Are the administration’s negotiations consistent with the spirit and intent of US law vis-a-vis the Iranian nuclear program? Are the negotiations consistent with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty? If Barack nObama is so concerned about making a workable deal with his Tehran counterparts, he might first have directed his staff to keep members of Congress updated fully about the nature, progress and goals of his deal-making with Tehran.       http://www.aei.org/publication/the-cotton-letter-and-iran/?utm_source=today&utm_medium=paramount&utm_campaign=AEIToday031115

Why Hilly’s Talking Points Don’t Add Up
(Joseph Klein) - Using the United Nations as a backdrop to theatrically remind people of her foreign policy gravitas, Hilly Clinton held what the UN referred to as a press “encounter” outside of the UN Security Council chamber on March 10th...First of all, there were archive regulations in effect in 2009, which required federal employees — including Hilly while she was Secretary of State — to preserve her work-related e-mails. The “every-one did it” defense holds no water because Hilly’s use of her own private server, set up in her New York residence, was reportedly unprecedented. Hilly rejected the suggestion that an independent third party examine her server including its hard drive, which raises the inevitable question of whether she is trying to hide something. Her privacy rationale is bogus, considering her decision to blend personal and work-related e-mails on the same personal account hosted by the same home-installed server in the first place. All Hilly could say was that the server “will remain private.” Hilly’s defense that it is up to each federal employee to decide individually which of his or her e-mails are personal and which are work-related does not mean that such decision cannot be examined by the government and remedied if necessary. In Hilly’s case, that is impossible due to her refusal to turn over the server sitting in her residence to an independent examiner. We have to take her word that she turned over all e-mails that were even “possibly” work-related which, given her track record, is not very reliable.

(burtprelutsky.com) - BARACK nOBAMA insists we can’t identify the enemy because if we utter the word “Islamic,” even if we modify it with “extremists,” “jihadists” or “fundamentalists,” every Muslim will assume we’re at war with them. Not only is that absurd and condescending, but it doesn’t come close to passing the smell test.

There are factions of Muslims who are constantly at war with one another, so why would Muslims assume that if we attack, say, ISIL or Boko Haram, but not Jordan or Egypt, we can’t distinguish between our friends and our enemies? Instead, it’s nObama, with his constant attacks on Bibi Netanyahu, who seems unable to make that particular distinction.

Besides, nObama never tires of telling us that the barbarians who are slitting throats and bar-be-cuing Christians, Jews and their fellow Muslims, have nothing whatever to do with Islam, so why his reluctance to wage war on them?

In related news, the ISIL beheader has been identified as Mohammad Emwazi of London. It seems he is from a well-to-do family and has graduated from college with a degree in computer programming. So I guess he didn’t become a throat-slitting jihadist, as nObama and Marie Harf recently suggested, because he couldn’t get a job flipping burgers at McDonald’s.

Meanwhile, in Denver -- formerly known as the Mile High City, but now, thanks to the legalization of marijuana, more of a Ten Mile High City – a black thug called a black police officer a nigger. In response, rather than bounce a billy club off the punk’s noggin, he said, “I am not a nigger.” As a result, the loons running Denver have reprimanded the cop for saying the n-word,” ignoring the context, thus ruining his future chances for promotion.

I’m reminded that Marco Rubio observed: “Every day loose lips Joe Biden says something that would end my career if I said it."

I heard someone on the radio the other day claim that one of the worst things George W. Bush ever did was come up with the term “compassionate conservative,” and to an extent I agree. The term, after all, distinguishes between those compassionate ones and all the rest of us, as if conservatism is as nasty and diabolical as liberals insist it is.

But inasmuch as Bush also approved of amnesty without building a fence at the border; promoted No Child Left Behind, a precursor to Common Core; and banned incandescent light bulbs, I would say that the schmuck was about as conservative as his kid brother.

For some years now, one public official after another has lied about his military service. It probably started with Hanoi John Kerry, who came back from Vietnam and managed to forge a political career out of slandering his fellow soldiers as sadists and baby-killers, and lying about his alleged injuries in order to cop a couple of Purple Hearts.

The latest offender is, not too surprisingly, the Secretary of Veteran Affairs, Bob McDonald, who claimed to have been a member of Special Forces. With such despicable creeps at the top, is it any wonder that wounded warriors continue to die while under the so-called care of the V.A.?

It seems that in 2014, there were 16,900 federal employees who were paid over $200,000. Keep in mind that was only counting base salary, and didn’t take into account overtime and bonuses. Most of them were working at – you guessed it! – the V.A. For the record, more than 1,600 federal employees made in excess of $300,000.

Lest you think those bonuses were the kind – say a week’s salary -- you might get if your company did really well, Lois Lerner, late of the IRS, collected $110,000 in bonuses during her last three years on the job. As you see, her efforts to target Tea Party groups between 2010 and 2012 were greatly appreciated.

As you may or may not have noticed, as members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Orrin Hatch, Jeff Flake and Lindsey Graham, carried through on their promise to confirm Loretta Lynch as the next Attorney General. That is akin to re-confirming Eric Holder to another two years on the job. If the voters in Utah, Arizona and South Carolina, don’t at least attempt to recall these three idiots, they should be denied the right to complain about Ms. Lynch in the future.

I often listen to Dennis Prager when I’m in the car, which is the only time I listen to the radio. He is another of my fellow Jewish conservatives and I often agree with his take on topics. However, he has one belief that he brings up on a regular basis, with the intention of setting straight those who deign to disagree with him.

The moral question he poses is this: If your pet dog or cat and a stranger are both drowning, and you can only rescue one of them, which would it be?

To Prager, the obvious answer is the stranger. His reason is that only human beings have souls and are created in the image of God. I have heard this from him for a great many years and each time I hear it, steam spews out of my ears.

Now I’m willing to grant that if the stranger is a baby or a child, I would, with a heavy heart, allow my pet to drown.

But, assuming we’re talking about an adult, I am willing to take on Prager and deny him the moral high ground. For one thing, I don’t believe that every human being is created in the image of God. Was Hitler? Was Stalin? Was Pol Pot or Saddam Hussein or Idi Amin? Anyone wish to argue that Mohammad Emwazi, aka "Jihadi John," was created in God’s image or even that he has what most of us regard as a soul?

But even if the person drowning isn’t a notorious villain, we all draw conclusions when we see a fellow human being. If the guy going down for the third time fits my notion of a meth dealer or a tattooed thug, why would I rescue him and allow my dog Angel to die? My wife and I have, after all, accepted responsibility for Angel’s well-being, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Speaking of people of questionable worth, hardly a day goes by when we don’t hear about some idiot trying to outrace a train. In spite of lights, bells and closing gates, some people simply refuse to be warned off. In certain quarters, I believe this phenomenon is commonly referred to as a thinning of the herd.

God forbid I should rescue one of those morons and allow our beloved dog to drown.

 Paying to Pray?
A funny thing happened in the South Florida city of Lake Worth. It appears the local government has given churches the idea they must pay a fee to exercise their constitutionally protected right to worship as they please. In fact, in a move that smacks of totalitarianism, one particular church was singled out for "observation" by a hoodie-wearing code enforcement officer who compiled an official Case Narrative that reads like a bad detective novel. In the city's crosshairs is a Southern Baptist institution known as the Common Ground Church. The church owns and operates a coffee house in the downtown area, and for the last three months it has used it to hold weekly worship services. Previously the congregation rented space at other facilities in the area. Common Ground Pastor Mike Olive spoke with Fox News' Todd Starnes and told him problems began arising last month following an encounter with City Commissioner Andy Amoroso. "After we opened up the coffee bar and started doing services, I heard that he told people we were anti-gay," Olive told Starnes. "So I went to his shop to ask him about that." Despite Olive's insistence that his church is all about loving God and loving people, and that his message to the gay community "is the same as it is to the straight community," Amoroso remained unconvinced, warning the pastor that he'd "better not have a church down there."  -The Patriot Post

 Right-to-Work Comes to Wisconsin
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker on Monday signed right-to-work legislation, making "America's Dairyland" the 25th state with laws preventing mandatory union membership and payment of dues. It's both good for Wisconsin's economy and is a feather in Walker's presidential cap. Through a section of the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act, states were permitted to enact legislation that allowed contracts to be signed between unions and businesses requiring workers at the particular company to pay labor fees, and legally binding those companies to fire workers who refused to join the union. Section 14B of this Act specifically noted that a right-to-work law would prevent such extortion. Union members make up about 8% of Wisconsin's current labor force. Just 30 years ago that number was 22%. Indeed, nationwide, labor unions are losing the muscle that once made them mighty -- because their numbers have dwindled for the last three decades.

INTRODUCING THE DEMOCRATIC 2016 POWER INDEX
Fox News First has been ranking the Republican presidential contenders in our Power Index since January, but left the Democrats out of the mix. Why waste our time and yours on what was shaping up as a coronation? But the ongoing and far-from-finished scandal around Hilly Clinton’s use of a secret home email server as secretary of state casts things in a new light. We have much more on the scandal below, but the political takeaway is fairly straightforward: her cloak of inevitability is torn. Whether as an actual rival or as a life raft for their party’s presidential hopes should Clinton sink herself, Democrats increasingly want and need alternatives. And so, we give you our inaugural Democratic 2016 Power Index.
          1) HILLY CLINTON - Today is a perfect encapsulation of Clinton’s campaign: big resources that bring big troubles. Clinton’s controversial family foundation will be acting as an extension of her campaign as it celebrates a speech Clinton gave 20 years ago in China on women’s rights with a dense report, public events and speeches by the candidate. Of course, since the foundation funds its work partly through gifts from countries that repress women as part of official policy, it does get a little icky. She will again be appearing in public but again failing to address the email scandal beyond an impossibly Clintonian tweet on the topic. So she gets a huge boost on visibility on her central campaign theme – that it’s time for a female president – but the means by which she paid for the platform create controversy of their own.
[“What I would like, is for her to come forward and say just what the situation is because she is the preeminent political figure right now. I think from this point on the silence is going to hurt her.” – Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”]
          2) loose lips JOE BIDEN - The vice president is kind of a hot mess. He boldly makes untrue statements. He nape-nuzzles other men’s wives in public. He’s 72, but lacks any of the campaign discipline that decades in public life ought to have brought him. And yet, he’s the single biggest threat to Hilly Clinton and the automatic frontrunner if he decides to run. Aside from having Air Force Two and near-universal name recognition, he can make the best claim to Democrats for protecting and defending President nObama’s legacy. And plus, the press loves loose lips Biden, a negative since his every gaffe would be amplified but a positive since he would have the best platform to call Clinton out. The two were consistently at odds during their time in the administration, and he would surely make a potent prosecutor of her claims of foreign policy expertise.
[The Atlantic: “There’s only one prominent Democratic contender who has traveled to all three early presidential primary states so far in 2015. It’s not Hilly Clinton. Nor is it Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, or even Martin O’Malley.”]
          3) ELIZABETH WARREN - The freshman senator from Massachusetts says she’s not running for president, but she and thousands of her supporters say they just want Hilly Clinton to move to the left and be a “progressive warrior.” But that’s an empty threat without the means to punish Clinton if she doesn’t oblige. Warren, who has had an audience with the frontrunner, has shown a reticence to run beyond coyness in recent weeks. It is helpful to appear not overly ambitious, but too much resistance will cause supporters to look elsewhere. Warren boasts the advantage of a campaign in waiting, but time is running out for her to make a long-shot run. While she might do well in Iowa and New Hampshire, to avoid being road-kill under the Clinton machine in the rest of the primaries, Warren needs to get busy. If she can get rolling, though, her zeal and authenticity could make her the Democratic heartthrob in a flash. Unlike loose lips Biden, Warren would also be a history-making nominee.
[Union label - Warren and loose lips Biden both address the International Association of Firefighters today in Washington.]
          4) MARTIN O’MALLEY - You can’t win the game if you don’t suit up and show up, and therein lies former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley’s cardinal advantage as a candidate. Unlike the others, he is actually on the trail and looking for donors and support. O’Malley is little known and isn’t broadly identified with any particular message, but as the very liberal former governor of a very liberal state, he has many policy points to please Democrats unhappy about the idea of veering from nObama’s domestic doctrine. Campaigning in New Hampshire this weekend, O’Malley demurred when questioned about Clinton’s sketchy email account. If O’Malley wants to be more than a running-mate in waiting, he will have to draw deeper distinctions with the frontrunner to show he’s serious.
          5) JIM WEBB - Candidates who are running against their parties don’t usually fare well, and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb looks to be no exception. Webb’s cry is that Democrats have to restore faith with the blue-collar white voters who once were the party’s backbone. And while he has a point to make about economic populism, and the deep embrace by Clinton of Wall Street, on the rest of the party’s issue set, he is a man out of time. Whether it is abortion or gun rights, Democrats made their collective choice against the party’s former base decades ago and won’t be coming back.  -Fox News

Over the horizon -   Suppose Hilly Clinton actually imploded and dropped out of the race. Who else might consider a run and could reasonably get a campaign together on the double. Some names to watch would include Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., Gov. John Hickenlooper, D-Colo., and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y.  -Fox News

Republican Senators Send Letter to Iran, Prompting White House Reaction
Republican Senators Send Letter to Iran
(Warren Mass) - An open letter sent by 47 Republican senators to the “Leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran” on March 9 — which provided Iran’s leaders with a brief lesson on the U.S. Constitution’s grant of powers regarding foreign policy...has generated a critical response from White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, Vice President loose lips Joe Biden, and Senate Minority Leader dinky Harry Reid (D-Nev.)Speaking for the letter’s intended recipients, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Iran’s foreign minister, said the letter lacks “legal validity” and shows that the signatories of the letter are “ignorant of international law.” “In our view this letter has no legal validity and is just a propaganda scheme,” Zarif asserted.   http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/item/20333-republican-senators-send-letters-to-iran-prompting-white-house-reaction?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_campaign=c427f1dd5c-The_Editors_Top_Picks_3_12_143_12_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8ca494f2d2-c427f1dd5c-289778381

McCon-nell Betrays Conservatives to Raise Debt Ceiling
(Raven Clabough) - According to the Congressional Budget Office, the U.S. government will reach its borrowing limit in October or November, after exhausting emergency measures to keep the debt below the limit as long as possible...Without the emergency measures, the growing federal debt would hit the ceiling by the middle of this month. But Republicans who had hoped to use the debt ceiling debate as leverage to pass spending cuts were disappointed to learn that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McCon-nell has already assured the Dems that the GOP would not threaten a default or government shutdown. Never mind that neither a default nor a shutdown would be necessary if the federal governent were simply to slash spending and start living within its means. "The debt ceiling will be handled over a period of months," McCon-nell said his appearance on CBS' Face the Nation Sunday. "I made it very clear after the November election we're certainly not going to shut down the government or default on the national debt." He is acting like a Democratic.  Attack Dog Hilly Clinton Unleashed And Unhinged
(rickwells.us) - The great and wise Hilly Clinton, the beacon of freedom and honesty to a troubled world, took a moment before attempting to defend her secret email server and seizure and sequestration of government records to deflect some attention by attacking Republicans...She did so against a United Nations backdrop, symbolic of the organization that she truly works to advance, regardless of any position she might happen to hold within the U.S. government. It’s the epitome of hypocrisy that the duplicitous Clinton would attempt to sit in judgment of Republicans or anyone else. As the former Secretary of State who is presently engaged in a feverish cover up of her involvement in the events of Benghazi and God knows what else, she is hardly one to claim the moral or any other high ground. The Clintons have always relied upon a strong offense as their best defense. A wild swing or two was to be expected in the opening rounds of her public defense.       http://www.rickwells.us/rabid-attack-dog-hillary-clinton-unleashed-and-unhinged-republicans-are-allies-of-nuclear-iran-can-race-card-be-far-behind/

Trey Gowdy – Even More Questions After Clinton Statement
(rickwells.us) - It’s hard to imagine that Hilly Clinton actually expected her official denial of wrongdoing in her email scandal to have quieted things down...Her typical claims of “honest Democrat ignorance,” this time as it relates to all those “confusing techie gadget things” doesn’t seem to have done much to convince many people that she just made an innocent, unfortunate decision; unfortunate definitely, innocent, not so much. She somehow tries to blame an inability or a lack of knowledge of how to operate two email accounts simultaneously on the same device as the reason she hid government records and stole away the paper trail from her time in the State Department inside her home. Rep Trey Gowdy (R-SC) is doesn’t believe that Clinton is just suffering from a lack of technical knowhow, acknowledging that nObama, the busiest man in the country is able to successfully use one phone for his communications and that his archives are, as far as we know, complete.       http://www.rickwells.us/benghazi-chairman-trey-gowdy-even-more-questions-after-clinton-statement-than-he-had-before/

Hilly Clinton Stonewalling From Here Until Election Day
(rickwells.us) - Referencing the Clinton email scandal, Charles Krauthammer describes it as “the nineties all over again.” He sees the key statement that the former Secretary of State made as being her contention that “the server is private and I’m hanging on to it and no one’s going to have a look at it...She was asked, ‘would you have an impartial outside observer go in and decide which ones are private,’ she said no, basically. We own it.” Krauthammer believes her determined obstructionism dates back to the Whitewater investigation, when she acquiesced to her husband’s decision to cooperate with investigators and agree to a special prosecutor. Krauthammer says Hilly Clinton views that decision as a catastrophic mistake, one he thinks she has vowed to never repeat.       http://www.rickwells.us/charles-krauthammer-white-water-the-sequel-hillary-clinton-stonewalling-from-here-until-election-day/

Another Reason To Bail On UN
(rickwells.us) - Two key questions need to be asked in view of the report issued by the UN Commission on the Status of Women, but more accurately, in regards to the United Nations as a whole...What is the United Nations doing in the U.S. and what is the United States doing in the UN? Since most of their so-called humanitarian aid and health efforts are directed towards third world nations and the continent of Africa, why is their headquarters not there, where they could more closely monitor the “good deeds” they are doing and all of the lives that their eugenics programs are “saving?” Is it because the globalist bankers who enrich themselves through the United Nations have their management operations in New York City, not in Niger or Chad? What benefit does the United States derive from UN membership? We are placed into a position of equal stature or less with backward, often much more primitive nations who see us only in terms of the volume of dollars their corrupt leadership can siphon off in their direction.      http://www.rickwells.us/another-reason-to-bail-on-un-politically-correct-report-paid-for-by-americans-cites-abuse-of-women-wont-use-the-i-word/

He Might Be A Hilly – Holder Had Secret Email Identities As Well
(rickwells.us) - Obstruction of justice and secret email accounts aren’t just the dominion of Hilly Clinton. With the revelation that Eric Holder has also been using anonymous emails...the extent to which the White House has a policy of lying, hiding, diverting attention and covering up information related to their conduct of the people’s business is further exposed. Attorney General Eric Holder not only used alternate email accounts, but he did so under aliases, an obvious effort to disguise his identity. One has to wonder just how prevalent this practice is in the “least transparent regime” in history. On Tuesday the Huffington Post reported that Holder has used three different false identities for his email accounts during his tenure at the Justice Department, among them the now retired ID of “Henry Yearwood.”       http://www.rickwells.us/hes-no-clark-kent-but-he-might-be-a-hillary-clinton-eric-holder-had-secret-email-identities-as-well/

Hilly Concedes She Deleted Nearly 30K ‘Private’ Emails
(Tony Lee) - On Tuesday, former Secretary of State Hilly Clinton conceded that she deleted nearly 30,000 emails that she deemed were “private” and not “work-related.”...Finally addressing the email scandal that has engulfed her for more than a week, Clinton said that she turned over nearly 30,000 emails and 55,000 pages of documents to the State Department. Her answer will surely raise more questions about whether she alone should have determined what emails should have been turned over to the government, especially after, as Breitbart News noted, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who chairs the House Select Benghazi Committee, said there were huge gaps in the emails his committee has received. Gowdy even “mentioned that his committee has not received any emails regarding Clinton’s trip to Libya even though the iconic picture of Clinton from that day shows her on a mobile device.”       http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/03/10/hillary-concedes-she-deleted-nearly-30k-private-emails/?AID=7236
Life under the US umbrella
Caroline B. Glick
Life under the US umbrella
(jewishworldreview.com) - South Korea lives under a US security umbrella. Both on a conventional and nuclear level, South Koreans are dependent on the US to deter North Korea from attacking them and overrunning their country.

Last Friday, US Under Secretary of State Wendy Sherman scolded South Koreans for being too nationalist. In her words, “Nationalist feelings can still be exploited, and it’s not hard for a political leader anywhere to earn cheap applause by vilifying a former enemy.”

The South Koreans interpreted her remarks as criticism of their President Park Geun-hye for her refusal to reinstate reunification talks with North Korea due to Pyongyang’s refusal to discuss the dismantlement of its nuclear program.

Sherman negotiated the US’s nuclear pact with North Korea in the 1990s. The North Koreans used the deal as a smokescreen behind which they developed nuclear weapons while receiving financial assistance from the US which paid off the regime for signing the deal.

Once Pyongyang was ready to come out as a nuclear power, it threw out the nuclear inspectors, opened the sealed nuclear sites, vacated its signature on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and began testing nuclear bombs.

Sherman is now the US’s chief negotiator in the P5+1 nuclear talks with Iran.

This week President Park traveled to Saudi Arabia, where she signed a deal to build two nuclear reactors for the oil giant.

The truth is that the North Koreans didn’t need nuclear weapons to deter South Korea from attacking it. Pyongyang possesses one of the largest, most powerful artillery arsenals in the world and it has enough artillery pieces pointed at Seoul to bomb the South Korean capital into the Stone Age.

North Korea’s nuclear arsenal is not directed primarily against Seoul. It is directed against Washington. And, as the US’s timidity in its defense of South Korea, and its constant attempts to placate Pyongyang indicate, Washington has been deterred.

The day after Saudi King Salman signed his nuclear deal with Park, US Secretary of State Hanoi John Kerry arrived in Riyadh to meet with him and with the foreign ministers of the six-member Gulf Cooperation Council – Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar and Oman.

According to news reports, Hanoi Kerry offered the Arab leaders to place them under the US nuclear umbrella to protect them from Iran’s nuclear weapons program.

There can be no doubt that in his conversations with the South Korean leader, King Salman discussed what life is like under an American security guarantee. And it is hard to see that he considers it a good bargain.

It is not merely that the US is deterred by North Korea, and therefore is willing to humiliate and endanger South Korea to avoid having to contend with Pyongyang. It is that US President Barack nObama has destroyed the credibility of US security guarantees by repeatedly failing to stand by them.

During the Cold War, West Germany and the rest of Western Europe were able to function under the US’s nuclear umbrella because the Soviet Union was deterred from invading Germany by the US’s nuclear threat. Moscow believed the US was serious when it promised to bomb the Soviet Union with nuclear warheads if it sent tanks into West Berlin.

nObama wouldn’t even undertake limited air strikes against Syrian President Bashar Assad after he crossed nObama’s declared redline and attacked his opponents with chemical weapons.

nObama failed to live up to his own redline because he didn’t want to upset Assad’s protectors in Tehran. To build up the credibility of his intentions to appease Tehran, nObama betrayed the Syrian people and his own pledge to defend them against chemical strikes. So even without nuclear weapons, Tehran is deterring nObama.

Beyond that, just as Pyongyang doesn’t require nuclear weapons to destroy South Korea, Iran doesn’t need to attack Persian Gulf states with nuclear weapons in order to dominate them and cause their collapse.

Iran can subjugate and destroy these regimes simply by using its proxies against them and threatening their economies with its control over both the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Aden. Iran can bring the Saudis to their knees without getting anywhere near a nuclear tripwire.

And like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Arab leaders are convinced that as she did in 1999 with Pyongyang, Sherman and her boss, Hanoi Kerry, are now paving the way for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

If the Arabs scoff at the US offer of a nuclear umbrella, Israelis don’t even have the luxury of snorting at the offer because there is no reason to believe that even a credible nuclear umbrella would deter Iran from attacking Israel with nuclear weapons.

In Israel’s case there are any number of scenarios under which Iran will see an advantage to attacking Israel with nuclear weapons, either directly or through one of its proxies that now encircle Israel along three borders.

And so we are left with the question of how to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

As Netanyahu explained in his address before the joint houses of Congress on Tuesday, the deal that nObama is now offering Iran “doesn’t block Iran’s path to the bomb; it paves Iran’s path to the bomb.”

By leaving Iran’s nuclear infrastructure intact, and pledging to end the limitations on Iran’s nuclear program within a decade, nObama is enabling Iran to acquire nuclear arms both by cheating its way there as the North Koreans did, or by waiting out the deal and emerging immediately after as a nuclear power.

Either way, the deal as presently constituted empowers the regime. It enriches the ayatollahs and legitimizes their regime and their hegemonic actions and aspirations.

The problem with seeking to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is that according to arms control expert Graham Allison from Harvard University, and others, Iran passed the point of no return in terms of nuclear know-how in 2008. It has mastered the technology and the science and therefore has where withal to develop nuclear weapons, and rebuild nuclear infrastructures that may be destroyed or damaged in aerial and other attacks.

Given this dismal state of affairs there are three ways to approach the problem.

The first path is similar to Israel’s counterterror strategy of “mowing the lawn.” In counterterror parlance “mowing the lawn” involves destroying as much of the terrorist infrastructure that the terrorist foe possesses in as short a period as possible, and then repeating the process after the terror group reconstitutes its capabilities.

In the case of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, a “mowing the lawn” approach would involve using force to destroy as many Iranian nuclear installations as possible in as short a campaign as possible in order to set Iran’s production schedule back for as long as possible, and then repeating the process, when Iran reconstitutes its capabilities.

The second path to block Iran’s nuclear advance is to use coercive diplomacy including harsh economic sanctions and other punitive means to force Iran to dismantle its nuclear installations and couple that coercive diplomacy with an intrusive inspections regime to ensure long term compliance.

The third means of curtailing Iran’s nuclear ambitions involves overthrowing the regime by providing active support – including organizational support and arms to regime opponents.

When Netanyahu spoke to the joint houses of Congress on Tuesday, he directly advanced the first two paths toward preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and indirectly advanced the third.

Netanyahu provided a sober-minded, carefully constructed argument for preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. He then demonstrated why nObama’s nuclear negotiating strategy enables Iran to become a nuclear power. In so doing, Netanyahu built sufficient bipartisan Congressional support for an Israeli strike against Iran’s nuclear weapons to protect Israel from the nObama administration.

Whether Netanyahu will order such a strike, or when such a strike could be most effective, is impossible to judge. But he did secure Congressional support for it.

Netanyahu also created an opening for lawmakers who are frightened by the deal nObama is now negotiating to prevent him from completing it. Whether or when they will use the opportunity is still unclear. nObama has tremendous power and leverage over Democratic lawmakers and he has no compunction about using it to get his way.

On the other hand, buoyed by Netanyahu, Republicans also have power. If they use it judiciously, they will be able to secure 67 votes in favor of legislation that would require nObama to receive Senate approval for his nuclear deal, and would place harsh economic sanctions on Iran if it doesn’t meet the behavioral benchmarks of ending its sponsorship of terrorism, ending its meddling in the internal affairs of other states, and ending its threats to annihilate Israel that Netanyahu laid out.

Beyond that, by making clear that it is pure folly to assume that Iran will magically transform itself into a responsible actor on the international stage after securing the deal, Netanyahu provided the rationale for a strategy of regime change. Whether a future administration will adopt this option or not is unclear, but it is now evident that given the fact that Iran has the technological and scientific capacity to develop nuclear weapons, the only way in the long term to prevent that from happening is to overthrow the regime.

nObama and his advisers argue that there are only two options – their agreement, that enables Iran to build a nuclear arsenal in the coming years, or war. What Netanyahu made clear is that this is a false choice. The US is stronger than Iran. It has more leverage than Iran. All it needs to get a better agreement is a massively diminished desire to conclude one.

THE FOUNDATION

“The germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the constitution of the federal judiciary; an irresponsible body, (for impeachment is scarcely a scare-crow) working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped from the States, and the government of all be consolidated into one.” –Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Charles Hammond, 1821

Ferguson Police Chief Resigns, Two Cops Shot

The Department of Justice made its accusation: The Ferguson Police Department practiced systematic racism. The DOJ named names and so the city’s town manager and municipal judge resigned. Then Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson announced his resignation. In hisresignation letter, Jackson wrote, “My resignation will be effective March 19, 2015 to provide for an orderly transition of command. … I will continue to assist the city in any way I can in my capacity as private citizen.” But Wednesday night, the streets around the police department were anything but orderly. As protesters gathered into the early morning, four shots rang out and two officers fell, seriously injured. The Obama administration was going to come after Ferguson officials if they didn’t resign, but did they take into account an emboldened hostility to the peacekeeping force in the city? The department needs reform and leadership has left, but someone tried to kill two cops. Clearly, this isn’t over. More…

Sen. Cotton’s Letter to Iran Is Firmly Constitutional

After the Senate sent its letter to Iran explaining whatever deal John Kerry is currently negotiating would not be a lawful treaty, the Left and its “constitutional scholars” think the 47 senators should be tried for treason. In a White House petition, over 200,000 people said, “United States Senators committed a treasonous offense when they decided to violate the Logan Act, a 1799 law which forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments.” And they actually think this petition will get legal legs. Let’s start with the Constitution, which says in Article II Section 2 that the president “shall have Power by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur [emphasis added].” John Yoo writes at National Review that Obama could make some kind of agreement with Iran, namely a sole executive agreement, which would only be binding with the Obama administration itself. He continues, “But as a matter of constitutional law, the Cotton letter should be no more controversial than a letter that simply enclosed a copy of the U.S. Constitution (without President Obama’s editing).” No, it is the Obama administration that is circumventing the Constitution, as even Kerry admitted that “we’re not negotiating a legally binding plan.” More…

Kerry’s Hypocritical Indignation

Secretary of State John Kerry really wasn’t happy with the 47 Senate Republicans who wrote a letter to Iran warning of the temporary nature of any deal with the Obama administration. Testifying before Congress Wednesday, Kerry said his reaction to the letter was “utter disbelief” because it “ignores more than two centuries of precedent in the conduct of American foreign policy.” He added, “During my 29 years here in the Senate, I never heard of – nor even heard of it being proposed – anything comparable to this. … This risks undermining the confidence that foreign governments, in thousands of important agreements, commit to between the United States and other countries.” Funny that he’s “never even heard of it” because an open letter to Iran restating the obvious hardly compares to Kerry’s own record of going it alone on foreign policy. While he was in the Senate, he traveled to Nicaragua to meet with the communist Sandinistas and then returned home to shill on their behalf. And let’s not forget his most infamous moment: meeting with the North Vietnamese in 1970 and 1971 while still a Navy reserve officer. Few are now willing to bring up this treasonous behavior, but it’s unbelievable hypocrisy for Kerry to attack this letter now.

Here We Go Again: Online Sales Tax Resurrected

An online sales tax bill passed the Senate (with 27 mostly Republicans voting “no”) in 2013 but flamed out in the House. Its sponsors, however, are undeterred. The Hill reports, “Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) rolled out the Marketplace Fairness Act on Tuesday, which would give states more power to collect sales taxes from businesses that don’t have a physical location within their borders.” As Mark Alexander explained two years ago, the MFA is designed to force states to collect taxes for the states in which a purchaser resides, and this amounts to taxation without representation. Clearly, politicians want this bill passed to raise new tax revenue for broken state governments facing budget shortfalls. Mitch McConnell opposed the bill as Senate minority leader. Now that he’s majority leader, we’ll see if he holds true.

Leftists Hail Flawed Gun Ownership Survey

Anti-gun advocates hailed the findings of a new study released this week that claims firearm ownership in America is fading. NBC News writes, “According to the latest General Social Survey, 32 percent of Americans either own a firearm themselves or live with someone who does, which ties a record low set in 2010. That’s a significant decline since the late 1970s and early 1980s, when about half of Americans told researchers there was a gun in their household.” If that sounds strikingly odd considering gun purchases remain near historic highs, that’s because it is. Steve Sanetti, president of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, says, “GSS isn’t actually counting the number of firearms in each household. Rather it is counting the number of individuals willing to disclose to a stranger at their front door how many firearms they own.” That’s important because “it is far more likely that the political climate is driving down self-reporting.” By comparison, Gallup, which relies on anonymous phone surveys, puts gun ownership at 42%, a percentage that’s more or less remained constant over the last decade. The Left is attempting to twist this survey as proof today’s America just isn’t that into guns. The last few election cycles suggest otherwise. More…

‘I Did Not Exchange Classified Information With That Woman’

2015-03-12-ce36ac3d_large.jpg

As news continues to unfold about Hillary Clinton’s secret email servers, which she vowed resulted in “no security breaches” (evoking memories of her finger-wagging husband denying sex allegations with “that woman”), a lesser-reported story broke. The FBI continues to investigate what officials are calling the “worst ever” cyberattack against several federal agencies – including the State Department.

On Tuesday, CNN reported that “suspected Russian hackers have bedeviled State Department’s email system for much of the past year and continue to pose problems for technicians trying to eradicate the intrusion.” Additionally, the same hackers who compromised the State Department’s email system are suspected of being same hackers who penetrated the systems of the White House and other federal agencies.

While the State Department may not be as secure as it should have been, and the hack appears to have occurred after Clinton departed State, the convenient timing of the story suggests a subtle attempt to soften the blow against the former secretary. Perhaps we’re supposed to believe her violation of federal regulations and consequent placing of our national security at risk were somehow less terrible since the State Department’s email system was hacked, too.

In truth, even the cyberattack against the State Department underscores the seriousness of Clinton’s blatant disregard for federal regulations. At least the hack against State was identified. Clinton, however, wants us to simply take her word for it that her “personal” email system was never compromised.

At her now-infamous press conference Tuesday, she claimed her personal email system “had numerous safeguards” and suffered “no security breaches.” But without analyzing the emails and email data, there is simply no way to know whether the system was breached. And it’s especially troubling that during the early months of her tenure – while she was negotiating the “reset” with Russia – her email servers had very little protection.

Political analyst Sean Davis notes that we already know the email account of Sid Blumenthal, a longtime Hillary confidant, was breached by the famed hacker “Guccifer,” and among the emails exposed were “numerous sensitive work-related e-mails that Blumenthal sent to Hillary” while she was secretary. Of course, as Clinton kept no government email account, these hacked emails would have been sent to her private email account – presumably the one with those “numerous safeguards.”

Amid it all, Hillary’s attempts to reassure the nation fall somewhere between laughable and outrageous. A reporter asked her, “Were you ever specifically briefed on the security implications of using your own email server and using your personal address to email with the president?” Clinton served up a meticulously crafted non-answer: “I did not email any classified material to anyone on my email. There is no classified material. So I’m certainly well-aware of the classification requirements and did not send classified material.”

As Davis points out, Clinton’s reply is fraught with problems. For one thing, the question had nothing to do with classified information but specifically with the threat of hacking. Why the prepackaged answer?

Additionally, while Clinton insisted she never sent classified material, she also clearly did not say she never received classified material. And while she claimed there “is” no classified material, as we’ve all come to learn from the Clintons' history, “is” can be a nebulous word. Perhaps “is” should have been “was,” which then begs the question of what happened to any classified material that “was” but no longer “is” – especially after she deleted thousands of emails. Furthermore, “classified” and “sensitive” are two different things, and Hillary notably did not address sending or receiving “sensitive” information.

One unnamed official wondered, “Was every single email of the secretary of state completely unclassified? Maybe, but it’s hard to imagine.” Indeed it is.

Obama’s spokesman Josh Earnest conveyed he is “not particularly interested in” talking about Clinton’s email. And Clinton herself is obviously hoping Americans adopt her classic “what difference does it make?” approach to the scandal. Yet far beyond a violation of protocol, Clinton’s actions represent a willful and arrogant breach of America’s national security. And that, indeed, does make a difference.

In Putin’s World, the Globe Is Cooling

2015-03-12-adc0e797_large.jpgThe Russian Black Sea fleet

Great. Russia has said it. Russian official Mikhail Ulyanov claimed the Great Bear has the right to place nuclear weapons in Crimea – the land it took from Ukraine.

“I don’t know if there are nuclear weapons there now,” Ulyanov said. “I don’t know about any plans, but in principle Russia can do it.”

The old enemy’s rhetoric has gone nuclear, and it could portend perilous times, as talk leads to action. And that’s an action the world cannot stand.

Russia has been talking about its right to place nuclear weapons in Crimea since December, when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “Crimea was not a non-nuclear zone in an international law sense but was part of Ukraine, a state which doesn’t possess nuclear arms. Now Crimea has become part of a state which possesses such weapons in accordance with the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.” He continued, “In accordance with international law. Russia has every reason to dispose of its nuclear arsenal … to suit its interests and international legal obligations.”

But Ulyanov’s comments are especially worrisome because he’s the director for Russia’s department of nuclear non-proliferation and arms control. He’s the man who is supposed to deescalate tension over nuclear stockpiles. He’s supposed to be the advocate for peace. Instead, it’s like someone switched out John Kerry’s talking points for Gen. Martin Dempsey’s.

Just last year, Ulyanov was at the UN saying things like, “An efficient nuclear non-proliferation regime plays a key role in maintaining the international peace and stability as well as moving towards a world free of nuclear weapons.”

What gives?

The way Russia is talking about nuclear arms signals it is hell-bent on returning to feared superpower status. With near-identical quotes, Lavrov and his director claim Crimea was once Ukraine’s but is now Russia’s. Nobody is going to take that strip of land from Russia without a major fight because it cares too much about its territorial gains.

Ukraine foreign ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis condemned the Russian statements, saying, “This is another fact to confirm the absolute unpredictability of Russia, as was the case with Russia’s withdrawal from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces. This arbitrary deployment of nuclear weapons not only violates all international agreements that control nuclear weaponry, Russia plans – if these statements are true – to deploy nuclear weapons in the territory of another state, as Crimea is the territory of Ukraine.”

Many people have been trying to understand the motivations of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Of course, he wants Ukraine, possibly for his own glory and certainly for that of Russia. AndAndrew Weiss contends Putin is more nihilistic than most commentators would like to admit. He’s not playing a calculated game of chess, Weiss writes, but “Mr. Putin has largely been improvising his way though the current crisis.”

Putin has isolated himself, surrounding himself with advisers whose only requirement is that they be loyal. A few weeks ago, “Mr. Putin agreed to a new cease-fire framework that was widely seen as advantageous to Moscow,” Weiss writes. “But instead of declaring victory, Mr. Putin chose once again to escalate the conflict.”

While Putin only makes short-term strategies, the stakes in the Ukrainian conflict are too high for Russia to lose.

Commodore Philip Thicknesse, a British veteran of the Falklands War, says Russia has few major seaports – something which it solves with the takeover of Crimea. “A Russia that prefers to believe that it is surrounded by enemies is one thing,” Thicknesse writes. “A Russia denied what it believes to be its birthright – unfettered oceanic access and secure land borders – is another.”

Russia continues nuclear arms rattling, flying bombers up the English Channel and generally playing war. NATO and the U.S. need to respond in two ways. First, the West needs a long-term strategy of choking the Russian economy and stifling its pugnacious “diplomacy.” Second, both the U.S. and NATO should quietly build military capability, but without escalating just yet. It’s diplomacy 101: Speak softly and carry a big stick.

OPINION IN BRIEF

British novelist C. S. Lewis (1898-1963): “I care far more how humanity lives than how long. Progress, for me, means increasing goodness and happiness of individual lives. For the species, as for each man, mere longevity seems to me a contemptible ideal.”

Columnist Larry Elder: “The NBA consists of 76 percent black players. But blacks are just 13 percent of the country. Clearly, the league engages in racial discrimination against whites. Silly, right? Well, this is exactly what the sleight-of-hand Department of Justice pulled off to find that the Ferguson Police Department engages in ‘implicit and explicit racial bias’! … New York City is 25 percent black. However, of the traffic stops, blacks comprise 55 percent. The statistical ‘gap’ is 30 points. In Ferguson … the black population is 67 percent, but 85 percent of the traffic stops. The statistical ‘gap’ is 18 points – far smaller than New York’s 30-point ‘gap.’ Why aren’t Messrs. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Eric Holder marching on Times Square? … Richmond, Virginia, is a city of 214,000, with a black population of 50 percent. Eighty-six percent of black Richmond families are headed by a single parent. Of Ferguson’s 67 percent black population, how many kids grew up in fatherless homes? Whatever the answer, isn’t this a far more relevant statistic?”

Economist Stephen Moore: “[I]n a non-right-to-work state, if employees do not pay union dues or fees, they can lose their jobs. So to work at a unionized facility in non-RTW states, you must, in effect, join the union by paying up to 100 percent of the dues and living under the collective bargaining agreement. No payment to the union means no job. If that isn’t coercion, what is? When a robber sticks a knife in your face and says your money or your life, do you really think you have a choice? … Forced-unionism advocates … can argue till the cows come home about how beneficial unions are for workers. But the problem isn’t that they can’t convince me. It’s that they can’t persuade the very blue-collar workers who they claim benefit from the union. … [I]f unions are such a winner for workers, why must they impose laws to force people to join and pay dues? There is no good answer to that one, which is why Wisconsin and a handful of other states are likely to switch to right-to-work and give American workers what liberals used to say they were in favor of: the right to choose.”

It's Too Easy to Get Guns, nObama Grumbles
Barack nObama thinks it's way too easy to buy a gun, and he wants to "fix" that. "As long as you can go in some neighborhoods and it is easier for you to buy a firearm than it is for you to buy a book -- there are neighborhoods where it is easier for you to buy a handgun and clips than it is for you to buy a fresh vegetable -- as long as that's the case, we're going to continue to see unnecessary violence," nObama warned at a town hall meeting at Benedict College. Clearly frustrated with Congress for not fully exploiting the murders at Sandy Hook Elementary in 2012 to pass gun control, nObama complained, "I thought ... what happened at Sandy Hook would make us think about it. You would have thought that's got to be enough of a motivator. But we couldn't get it done." Without Congress, he said, "It is difficult to reduce the availability of guns." That is his goal, after all. However, he added, "We've tried to get as much done administratively" as possible.
Indeed he has. The ATF is considering a ban on M855 ammunition, which is widely used in AR-15s. And "considering" is probably not strong enough a word, as the ATF recently published the new regulation in its 2014 Regulation Guide, released in January. When Townhall's Katie Pavlich called them out, the ATF backtracked and claimed it was a "publishing mistake" -- that the regulation was not finalized. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean the ban won't take effect, just that the ATF announced prematurely. nObama has 700 days, a phone and a pen. He won't stop with green-tip ammo-The Patriot Post

In Selma, nObama Slams 'Voter Suppression' Laws
Speaking in Selma Saturday for the 50th anniversary of the civil rights march there, Barack nObama told marchers that today's voter ID laws are commensurate with what plagued blacks 50 years ago. "Right now, in 2015, 50 years after Selma, there are laws across this country designed to make it harder for people to vote," nObama complained. "As we speak, more of such laws are being proposed. Meanwhile, the Voting Rights Act -- the culmination of so much blood, so much sweat and tears, the product of so much sacrifice in the face of wanton violence -- the Voting Rights Act stands weakened, its future subject to political rancor. How can that be? The Voting Rights Act was one of the crowning achievements of our democracy, the result of Republican and Democratic efforts. President [Ronald] Reagan signed its renewal when he was in office. President George W. Bush signed its renewal when he was in office. One hundred members of Congress have come here today to honor people who were willing to die for the right to protect it. If we want to honor this day, let that hundred go back to Washington and gather four hundred more, and together pledge to make it their mission to restore that law this year. That's how we honor those on this bridge." Requiring that voting citizens prove who they are -- just as if they were buying alcohol -- is not "suppressing the vote." That's especially true in a nation in which nObama has just legalized nearly five million illegals. He's misrepresenting history for political gain. More...   -The Patriot Post

NY Times Lets nObama Set Agenda for Selma Remembrance
Read the headline and examine the picture of The New York Times' front cover after political leaders commemorated the 50-year anniversary of the march at Selma, and you'd think the whole event was all about Barack nObama. The Times highlighted his quote, "We know the march is not yet over," in the headline, and the photo of the event featured a white-shirted nObama linking arms with Rep. John Lewis, who was at the original march. nObama's speech linked what happened 50 years ago to the recent unrest in Ferguson, Missouri. Yet the Times' coverage all but ignored the GOP presence at the march. George W. Bush was in the front line of marchers, but The Times cropped him out of the picture. The media lambasted GOP leaders for skipping the march, though Bush and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy were there. One notable absence was Hilly Clinton, who decided it was more important to attend a Clinton Global Initiative event in Florida than commemorate a seminal moment in the civil rights movement. The Left tried to co-opt the event for two purposes: First, to smear Republicans who stayed home. Second, to mold the civil rights narrative for political ends. And, as always, the New York Times helped them do it. More...  -The Patriot Post

Holder Warns Police: We're Coming After You
In the wake of the Justice Department's predictable findings of racist police in Ferguson, Attorney General Eric Holder fired a shot across the bow. "We are prepared to use all the powers that we have, all the power that we have, to ensure that the situation changes there," Holder said Friday. "That means everything from working with them to coming up with an entirely new structure." In other words, the Ferguson Police Department is on notice. But not just Ferguson. "I hope [police departments around the nation are] listening to these comments, and understand the intensity with which the feelings are felt at the federal government level to ensure that we use all the tools that we can to make sure that what happened in Ferguson is uncovered and simply does not happen in any other part of the country," Holder added. "But I also want to make people understand, there are 18,000 police departments in this country, and I think what we saw in Ferguson was an anomaly." We'd say that's a pretty clear sign of what will be on incoming AG Loretta Lynch's agenda.  -The Patriot Post

Hilly Clinton borders on paranoia when it comes to documenting her work, as if she considers transparency and oversight the enemy. In 1994, she said she didn't even keep a diary. "It could get subpoenaed! I don't write anything down," she said. Recently, a video surfaced of a 2001 ABC report that shows Clinton saying she didn't use email: "As much as I've been investigated and all of that, you know, why would I -- I don't even want -- why would I ever want to do email?" But now, it turns out that crafty grandma was running her own email server -- which can permanently delete emails. Head of the House committee investigating the attack on the Benghazi consulate in 2012, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), said Clinton has kept emails from his committee's investigation. "There are gaps of months of months of months," he said. "If you think to that iconic picture of her on a C-17 flying to Libya … we have no emails from that day. In fact we have no emails from that trip." Unlike Lois Lerner's emails, Clinton's may be gone for good. As "clueless" as ever, Barack nObama distanced himself from the former secretary of state, trotting out his tired old excuse that he learned about the scandal "through news reports." Sure thing.

What Did They Know, and When Did They Know It?
(Roger Aronoff) - The latest revelations about Hilly Clinton’s use of private emails while Secretary of State for the nObama administration have proven “politically problematic,” and invited discomfort by some of her fellow Democrats...possibly encouraging other ambitious Democratic hopefuls to contend for the presidential primary, according to some in the media. By defining the problem as just “political,” these reporters can cast the issue as one dividing political parties to distract from the pressing issues of the day. This media frenzy works in the nObama administration’s favor. “…why did Hilly Clinton become the nObama administration’s bête noire this very week…? questions Lee Smith writing for Tablet Magazine. Perhaps because Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent speech before Congress reflected badly on the administration’s plan for an Iran deal. “This week’s tarring of Hilly Clinton is part of the White House’s political campaign to shut off debate about its hoped-for deal,” he asserts.       http://www.aim.org/aim-column/obama-and-hillary-what-did-they-know-and-when-did-they-know-it/?utm_source=AIM+-+Daily+Email&utm_campaign=email031015&utm_medium=email

The U.N. – Venue Selected For Heavy Clinton Control…
(theconservativetreehouse.com) - Former Secretary of State Hilly Clinton is expected to give a “press conference”  (as it is described) TODAY at 2:20pm at the United Nations in New York...The format of how she will address the controversy is still sketchy and seems highly “Clintonian”. It is obvious that Hilly Clinton is trying to avoid the crushing full court media scrutiny who are heavily interested in getting answers to the myriad of controversial questions. Control seems to be the operative word. However, this level of avoidance could backfire given the justifiable interest in the scandal.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0ap9FPu5dk

Is nObama really as clueless as he claims?
(
David Limbaugh) - I don’t know which is more maddening, President nObama’s repeatedly claiming he finds out about important matters only after reading the newspapers, his expectation that we’ll swallow that..the even scarier prospect that it could be true, or that the media continue to give him a pass on it. nObama told CBS News senior White House correspondent Bill Plante that he learned of Hilly Clinton’s use of her private email address for official State Department business after a New York Times report. With no apparent self-consciousness or embarrassment, nObama said he learned about it at “the same time everybody else learned it through news reports.” Then he followed with the equally preposterous and oft-repeated assurance, “The policy of my administration is to encourage transparency.”       http://www.wnd.com/2015/03/is-obama-really-as-clueless-as-he-claims/

Supporters of Deal Are Strengthening Iran's Negotiating Position
(Alan M. Dershowitz) - Despite repeating the mantra that "no deal is better than a bad deal" with Iran, the United States seems to be negotiating on the basis of a belief that the worst possible outcome of the current negotiations is no deal...Many supporters of the deal that is now apparently on the table are arguing that there is no realistic alternative to this deal. That sort of thinking out loud empowers the Iranian negotiators to demand more and compromise less, because they believe -- and have been told by American supporters of the deal -- that the United States has no alternative but to agree to a deal that is acceptable to the Iranians. A perfect example of this mindset was Fareed Zakaria on his CNN show this past Sunday. He had a loaded panel of two experts and a journalist favoring the deal, and one journalist opposed. This followed Zakaria's opening essay in favor of the deal. All those in favor made the same point: that this deal is better than no deal, and that any new proposal -- for example, to condition the sunset provision on Iran stopping the export of terrorism and threatening to destroy Israel -- is likely to be rejected by Iran, and is therefore, by definition, "irrational" or "unproductive," because it would result in no deal.       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5367/iran-negotiating-position

Why Politicians Pretend Islam Has No Role in Violence
(Daniel Pipes) - Prominent non-Muslim political figures have embarrassed themselves by denying the self-evident connection of Islam to the Islamic State (ISIS) and to Islamist violence in Paris and Copenhagen, even claiming these are contrary to Islam... What do they hope to achieve through these falsehoods and what is their significance? First, a sampling of the double talk: President Barack nObama tells the world that ISIS "is not Islamic" because its "actions represent no faith, least of all the Muslim faith." He holds "we are not at war with Islam but with people who have perverted Islam." Secretary of State Hanoi John Kerry echoes him: ISIS consists of "coldblooded killers masquerading as a religious movement" who promote a "hateful ideology has nothing do with Islam." His spokesperson, Jen Psaki, goes further: the terrorists "are enemies of Islam." Jeh Johnson, the U.S. secretary of Homeland Security, assents: "ISIL is not Islamic." My favorite: Howard Dean, the former Democrat governor of Vermont, says of the Charlie Hebdo attackers, "They're about as Muslim as I am."       http://www.danielpipes.org/15618/islam-violence

Has nObamacare fixed US health care inflation?
(Christopher J. Conover) - Here we go again. What is it about nObamacare that inspires its fiercest supporters the cherry-pick evidence as proof it is “working”?...The latest entrant in this never-ending contest is Matt Phillips, who trumpets the news “nObamacare fixed U.S. healthcare inflation.”  If true, this would be no mean feat since as we’ll see, medical inflation has outpaced general inflation rather regularly over the past half century, sometimes by as much as 6 percentage points in a single year.  But as we’ll also see, giving nObamacare credit for the recent slowdown in health prices is quite a stretch for two reasons: first, it fails to account for the fact that this downward trend was clearly visible years before President nObama was even elected president; and second, it fails to account for what was happening to the general economy and general inflation during the same time period.       http://www.aei.org/publication/obamacare-fixed-us-health-care-inflation/?utm_source=today&utm_medium=paramount&utm_campaign=AEIToday031015

Why Progressives Mislead
John O. McGinnis

(city-journal.org) - Barack nObama’s supporters and detractors don’t agree on much, but as the president enters his final two years in office, they have voiced a common complaint: the president lacks competence. They cite multiple management breakdowns, such as the disastrous rollout of the nObamacare health-insurance website, which have eroded public support; his lack of engagement with Congress, which has impeded his legislative agenda; and his chronic inability to address serious problems before they become full-blown crises, undermining Americans’ confidence in his leadership.

There is no doubt considerable truth to these charges. But nObama’s fundamental problems stem less from incompetence than from his philosophy of governance. In his first presidential campaign, nObama took pains to distinguish his approach from the incrementalism of Bill Clinton and modeled himself instead on the transformational leadership of Franklin Roosevelt and of Ronald Reagan. During the race, and increasingly after the election, it became clear that nObama embraced a theory of dramatic political change—that of progressivism, which dates its American origins to an early-twentieth-century era of social and political reform. And he has adhered to it, despite some of the worst midterm election defeats faced by any two-term president.

Progressivism’s vision of the role of the state conflicts with the system of government envisioned by America’s Founders. The Founders wanted citizens to be free to pursue their affairs individually and in voluntary association; the powers of the federal state were to be tightly constrained. In contrast, the greatest political theorist of American progressivism, Herbert Croly, said that the nation’s “democracy should be focused on an equal sharing of wealth and responsibilities”—an enterprise that demands a larger and more intrusive federal state to enforce. nObama spoke from this tradition on the campaign trail in 2008—most famously, when he told Joe the Plumber that it was “good to spread the wealth around.”

But nObama and his supporters face a more challenging political landscape than did their progressive forebears. In the early twentieth century, progressives introduced new entitlements against the backdrop of low federal spending and a much smaller federal government. At the beginning of the Progressive Era, federal government spending represented only about 4 percent of GDP; it reached 11 percent when FDR introduced Social Security. (Even that figure was artificially high because the Depression had dramatically reduced GDP.) And progressivism in its early years enjoyed support among the legions of poor, who had little to lose from the rearrangement of rights by government programs.

Today, the federal government spends more than five times as much, as a percentage of GDP, than it did at the beginning of the last century, and twice as much as when Social Security was introduced. That amount will continue to grow, driven by the rising cost of entitlements for an aging population. The future consequences of past decisions thus constrain the present capacity of the state, even as progressivism’s reach becomes more ambitious: reorganizing health care, as the nObama administration has begun to do with the 2010 passage of the Affordable Care Act, better known as nObamacare, touches everyone’s life in ways that, say, the regulation of railroads did not. Such massive programs are more likely to be complex and to generate popular resistance, as nObamacare has done.

On top of these structural difficulties, the progressive coalition has also become harder to maintain. Over the course of the twentieth century, free-market capitalism created unprecedented mass affluence. The average income of Americans grew by more than four times in the last century, making the United States the wealthiest nation of any substantial size. Citizens now have more to lose from interventions in the free market, because they are better off. It’s hard to imagine that a progressive party could maintain control of both the House and Senate for 20 consecutive years and the House for 40 years, as did the Democrats earlier in the twentieth century.

Faced with these constraints, today’s progressives must resort to more misleading and sometimes coercive measures, as they seek to bring about equality through collective responsibility; they must rally support by looking beyond economics, to cultural and social identifications, in a bid to maintain the support of voters with little need for government intervention. They also want to limit the voices of citizens at election time, and thereby magnify the influence of the press and academia, which lean sharply in the progressive direction.

Nothing shows the progressive dependence on subterfuge more starkly than nObamacare, which, by imposing a personal mandate to buy insurance in an effort to bring health care to all, will restructure one-sixth of the American economy. Single-payer government health insurance has been a dream on the left for decades, but it was never a politically realistic option. This was true even while Democrats controlled both houses of Congress, as they did during the first two years of nObama’s first term. The American public wouldn’t tolerate the level of government funding that a single-payer system would require, so the best that the administration could do was to impose a regulatory structure, while accepting a private-insurance model. In crafting the Affordable Care Act, the administration intentionally avoided describing the individual mandate as a tax—a tacit admission that doing so could have sunk the bill. After the bill became law, however, the administration turned around and argued before the Supreme Court that the mandate was, in fact, a tax. The Court upheld the mandate as an exercise of an enumerated government power to levy taxes. Even then, the administration concealed nObamacare’s taxes on the wealthy, which were not added to the income-tax tables. The recently publicized comments of MIT professor Jonathan Gruber about the deception involved in promoting the Affordable Care Act demonstrate that such chicanery has become intrinsic to modern progressivism.

American affluence also proved a political obstacle for the law’s drafters. Most Americans already had health insurance and a doctor with whom they felt comfortable. To secure support for the ACA, therefore, nObama had to promise repeatedly that those happy with their current health plans (and doctors) could keep them. But ACA requirements resulted in the cancellation of many insurance plans, causing patients to lose access to their doctors. This proved the most damaging blow to nObama’s credibility.

Some have labeled the president’s economy with the truth a personal failing, but it’s more like a professional necessity. Modern progressivism’s business model requires obscuring the reality that new programs have winners and losers—and the losers are spread throughout the general population, not confined to members of the so-called 1 percent. As the Affordable Care Act goes fully into effect, the losers will become more visible. If people had known the truth about nObamacare in 2010, the bill would almost certainly have been defeated. If they had known it in 2012, nObama would likely have lost his reelection bid.

The architects of nObamacare needed these deceptions, in part, because more people are becoming aware of the financial burden of unfunded liabilities. As a result, it is not as easy to slough off costs on future generations. nObamacare’s ill-fated CLASS (Community Living Assistance Services and Supports) provision, a long-term-care insurance program for the elderly, is a case in point. A voluntary program, CLASS was required by law to be financially self-sustaining, meaning that it would need large numbers of young and healthy people to sign up for it—a dubious prospect. The revenues expected in CLASS’s first years made nObamacare seem more fiscally responsible in the short term than it really was, though the Medicare actuary warned that this was a mirage. “Thirty-six years of actuarial experience,” he wrote in an internal e-mail, “lead me to believe that this program would collapse in short order and require significant federal subsidies to continue.” Less than two years later, HHS secretary Kathleen Sebelius concluded that the program could not be self-sustaining and terminated it.

Even before nObamacare’s false promises were revealed, the law was not popular with middle-class voters, who felt that nObama was less interested in restarting the stagnant economy than in creating a new welfare program. Riding a wave of dissatisfaction with the new law, Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in 2010. Four years later, with the ACA even more disliked, the Republicans took the Senate, too. Since nObamacare never had bipartisan support, the Democrats would have been hard-pressed to pass amendments to improve it under the best circumstances; their legislative losses made the question academic. This difficulty underscores a key problem with central planning: the world is unpredictable. Just as no military plan survives contact with the enemy, no program of government benefits, and certainly not one as ambitious as nObamacare, can anticipate the changing circumstances in which it will operate.

Struggling with problems of implementation and public resistance, the administration has held off enforcing inconvenient parts of the law, such as the one requiring businesses to offer health-care insurance to their employees by 2013. That provision was delayed by one year. The law also required uninsured individuals to purchase health plans, but the administration exempted those who would “face hardship.” Since following the law’s required timeline would have had adverse political consequences, the administration claimed the authority to delay and amend these provisions. But the law’s statutory deadlines were clear.

The Supreme Court will soon determine the legality of yet another nObama administrative action that appears to contradict the plain language of the Affordable Care Act. The statute provides taxpayer subsidies for insurance policies bought on “exchanges established by the states.” But almost half the states have declined to establish such exchanges. When states don’t set up exchanges, the ACA then requires the federal government to do so but provides no parallel authorization for subsidies. Nevertheless, the Treasury Department has adopted regulations offering such subsidies, arguing that they advance the overall purpose of the ACA. Authorizing subsidies for federal exchanges is vital to the future of nObamacare, particularly because sign-up numbers have been disappointing. Should the Supreme Court rule that the administration lacks this authority, though, any attempt to provide authority through legislation will lead to wholesale revision of nObamacare in the Republican Congress.

Progressivism has long valued executive discretion in domestic affairs because presidents need to make fewer compromises than do legislatures. Not surprisingly, nObama-era progressives argue for maximizing the scope of that discretion. The Democratic Senate’s decision to do away with the filibuster on judicial nominations, for instance, was principally designed to eliminate any roadblocks to confirming nObama’s nominees to the District of Columbia Circuit. That court oversees the exercise of administrative discretion in many important government programs—including nObamacare.

But today’s progressivism needs more than wide-ranging discretion to adapt its laws to new circumstances when its coalition no longer controls Congress. The examples above suggest that President nObama is exercising unilateral power to decline to enforce laws or even to rewrite them. Such power exceeds the traditional norms of prosecutorial discretion. Indeed, it comes perilously close to the “dispensing power” of the Stuart monarchs, who claimed the authority to disregard laws. The British rejected that power during the Glorious Revolution, and the Founders rejected it, too, by inserting language into the American Constitution requiring that the president “take Care that the law be faithfully executed.”

Progressives also want to transform the rights provisions of the Constitution to improve their chances of political success. The president was so concerned about the Supreme Court’s protection of free speech in political campaigns that he attacked its Citizens United campaign-finance decision, which abolished restrictions on independent political expenditures by nonprofit groups. In a State of the Union address, nObama claimed that the ruling “reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests—including foreign companies—to spend without limitation.” nObama’s comment about foreign corporations was no truer than his claims about the Affordable Care Act. It was instead an attempt to use xenophobia in support of the suppression of political speech. And the principal beneficiaries of Citizens United, in fact, aren’t for-profit corporations, which don’t want to offend their consumers by taking political positions, but nonprofit corporations that allow citizens to band together to deliver political messages for various causes.

The freedom of citizens to pay for political messages poses a threat to progressives because it endangers the control over political and social discourse that the Left otherwise enjoys. The media lean overwhelmingly Democratic, with some studies estimating the imbalance between Democrats and Republicans at more than four to one. Academia is even more lopsidedly left-wing. In the Ivy League, which remains the most powerful educational megaphone for social ideas, nObama attracted 20 times as many contributors as Mitt Romney. This ideological imbalance provides progressivism with one of its most powerful weapons. And here the attack on Citizens United becomes especially practical: restricting independent campaign expenditures will allow the press and the academic world to control the agenda, as they already do for periods between elections.

It’s worth noting in this light that the single constitutional amendment that nObama has endorsed in office is one overruling Citizens United. Last year, Senate Democrats brought to the floor an even broader amendment that would have permitted Congress to regulate both campaign expenditures and contributions. The amendment would have exempted the press from regulation, suggesting that the political objective is indeed agenda control.

nObama’s exercise of executive discretion extends further still. Most recently, in a move decried by conservative constitutionalists, he signed an executive order deferring the deportation of some 4 million illegal immigrants, allowing them to work legally in the United States. While his stroke of the pen cannot grant citizenship, it can create a new political reality, making it harder to resist the main political prize for progressives: guaranteeing a path to voting citizenship. These and other moves represent an attempt to create a new political order in which progressivism is more likely to thrive.

This goal also explains why the new progressivism must enlarge its agenda to include social issues, engaging in the wars of culture as well as class. While the old progressivism focused almost exclusively on economics, the new progressivism seeks a panoply of new entitlements, from on-demand contraception to same-sex marriage. Today’s progressive enthusiasm for creating new constitutional rights out of the latest social cause expands progressivism’s appeal to more affluent, secular voters, for whom bending the arc of history gives meaning to life. To succeed, then, modern progressivism must reconstitute the nature of politics, not merely change the content of policies.

In response to the progressive agenda, conservatives and libertarians must also focus on the structure of politics. Where the new progressivism would burst the bounds of law to pursue its goals, today’s conservatives must strengthen the rule of law. For instance, the response to modern progressivism’s desire for a dispensing power should be statutory requirements that expressly forbid the president from modifying laws with which he disagrees, together with statutes that widen the ability of citizens to challenge such executive illegality. Moreover, the new Republican Congress should enact amendments to the Administrative Procedure Act that require congressional approval for major exercises of executive discretion. The Right became more enamored of executive discretion when Republicans seemed to have a lock on the presidency. But for reasons of both principle and tactical necessity, conservatives should re-embrace a notion of limited government based in congressional, not presidential, power.

Countering the progressive drive to reduce the speech rights of those outside the symbolic class, conservatives should emphasize the principle of equality before the law. No class should be given particular privileges to speak about politics. The answer to complaints about the undue influence of campaign money at election time can be found in the principle of neutrality. Congress should commit itself to operate by evenhanded rules of appropriate generality and thus ban earmarks, targeted regulatory relief, and other favors often used to reward political support.

Devotion to the rule of law can also contain corrosive culture wars. By decentralizing decision making and diffusing debate in this context, federalism lowers the temperature of national politics and allows the national government to focus on defense and other issues to which it is uniquely suited. And decreasing the payoff to victory in the culture wars lessens progressives’ motivation to use social appeals to rally a coalition that might otherwise fracture.

From its inception, progressivism has posed a threat to constitutional government. It has sought to replace limited and decentralized governance with dynamic, centralized authority in order to force some arrangement of equality on the nation. Because the world has a way of upsetting abstract designs, progressivism depends on empowering administrators to impose its frameworks while disempowering citizens from resisting these coercions. The nObama administration’s push for unilateral presidential authority to disregard the law is thus the logical extension of the progressive program. Opposition to this program requires nothing less than a rededication to our Founding ideals: our nation must be governed by the rule of law, not the rule of an elected monarch or of a legally privileged aristocracy.

Is the Threat of an Ammo Ban Past?

A bit of good news out of The Swamp for a change. The ATF says it’s scrapping plans to ban a popular round of ammunition after loads of negative public feedback. The agency says the comments were overwhelmingly critical of the proposal.” The ban was (supposedly) motivated by the “discovery” that “pistols” can now shoot armor-piercing ammo, but perhaps the ATF feared a successful court challenge to the National Firearms Act’s definition of “pistol.” Certainly, Second Amendment defenders think the NFA is in many ways incompatible with the Supreme Court’s Heller ruling.

But is this really good news, or just a tactical retreat? According to the ATF, “Although ATF endeavored to create a proposal that reflected a good faith interpretation of the law and balanced the interests of law enforcement, industry, and sportsmen, the vast majority of the comments received to date are critical of the framework, and include issues that deserve further study. Accordingly, ATF will not at this time seek to issue a final framework [emphasis added]. After the close of the comment period, ATF will process the comments received, further evaluate the issues raised therein, and provide additional open and transparent process (for example, through additional proposals and opportunities for comment) before proceeding with any framework.” So it really isn’t over.

Stay tuned for Mark Alexander’s analysis of the situation later today.

Social Security Records Show Existence of 6.5M Zombies

It’s strike two against the Social Security Administration. First, the agency wrote to Sen. Ron Johnson, telling him it was still implementing Barack Obama’s executive actions granting legal status to millions of illegal immigrants. Now, an investigation showed the agency did not prosecute illegal immigrants it found committing fraud with Social Security numbers belonging to citizens who died. According to a report by the agency’s Inspector General, “In three cases, [the Office of Investigators] confirmed that illegal aliens were using deceased numberholders' names and SSNs to work, but U.S. Attorneys in Arizona, Florida, and South Carolina declined prosecution.” The report goes on to say there are 6.5 million Social-Security-card-carrying citizens who are over the age 112. Right. But then there’s this example: In 2008, a man whose Social Security number indicated he was 122 applied for a job in Arizona, even though the SSA’s payment records show it stopped paying him benefits in 1965. Either there was a zombie collecting a salary in Arizona, or the SSA’s shoddy record keeping has allowed fraud to fester.More…

Walker and Obama Tussle Over Right-to-Work

After Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker signed right-to-work legislation Monday, Barack Obama bashed the Republican presidential hopeful. “Wisconsin is a state built by labor, with a proud pro-worker past,” Obama said. “So even as its governor claims victory over working Americans, I’d encourage him to try and score a victory for working Americans – by taking meaningful action to raise their wages and offer them the security of paid leave. That’s how you give hardworking middle-class families a fair shot in the new economy – not by stripping their rights in the workplace, but by offering them all the tools they need to get ahead.” Walker quickly fired back. “On the heels of vetoing Keystone Pipeline legislation, which would have paved the way to create thousands of quality, middle-class jobs, the President should be looking to states, like Wisconsin, as an example for how to grow our economy,” Walker replied in a statement. “Despite a stagnant national economy and a lack of leadership in Washington, since we took office, Wisconsin’s unemployment rate is down to 5.0 percent, and more than 100,000 jobs and 30,000 businesses have been created.” Obama has spent more than six years undermining working Americans all while claiming to be in their corner – his magic “middle-class economics.” But higher taxes based on class warfare aren’t going to grow the economy. Encouraging work will.

It Takes No Fewer Than 170 Days to Fire Federal Workers

Government employment usually entails good job security. Consider the EPA, where spending up to six hours per day looking at x-rated websites isn’t enough to get employees fired – even a year after the story broke. No matter which federal department or agency you represent, existing rules ensure that accountability is difficult to enforce, particularly when it comes to veteran workers. Based on a Government Accountability Office report published Monday, “A minimum of 170 days is required to fire a federal employee for poor performance, if a government agency properly follows the required dismissal process,” The Washington Free Beacon reveals. Administrators who follow chapter 43 of the United States Code allow misbehaving employees upwards of 110 days to make amends. And if that doesn’t work? “After dismissal, the employee is then given the opportunity to appeal, which itself takes an average of 243 days to complete,” the Beacon adds. “Alternatively, agencies can use chapter 75, which is ‘largely similar to chapter 43.’ Chapter 75 is generally faster since it does not require time to allow the employee to improve, but the ‘burden of proof for sustaining a dismissal’ is higher.” The infamous EPA porn-watcher by his own admission downloaded and viewed more than 7,000 files. What more “burden of proof” does the government need? More…

University Violated Speech Rights of Racist Frat Boys

University of Oklahoma violated the First Amendment rights of two frat boys when it expelled them after they were videotaped leading a racist chant. Over the weekend, the school’s student newspaper published a story after it obtained video footage of a group of Sigma Alpha Epsilon frat boys chanting that “there will never be a n—– at SAE.” But the university’s discipline of the students may have just elevated the students to free speech martyrdom. Legal scholar Eugene Volokh writes, “First, racist speech is constitutionally protected, just as is expression of other contemptible ideas; and universities may not discipline students based on their speech. That has been the unanimous view of courts that have considered campus speech codes and other campus speech restrictions. … The same, of course, is true for fraternity speech, racist or otherwise.” But in the nanny-state that is often called higher education, administration officials simply see students as children, whose rights they can violate at will. A better discipline would have been to call out the perpetrators – by name – in the square of public ideas. More…

Hillary: ‘I [Fill in the Blank] for Convenience’

2015-03-05-b77fd0e2_large.jpg

Hillary Clinton finally addressed the brouhaha over her majesty’s secret servers at a press conference Tuesday, but beginning with the first seemingly planted question it amounted to partying like it was 1999.

Last week, Clinton handed over 55,000 pages of emails from her private clintonemails.com email accounts. It’s a fair guess that hardly covers her entire tenure as secretary of state. So where’s the rest? What’s she hiding?

Since the account is hers, she has sole access and control over it (well, besides potential hackers), and she’s refusing to turn over everything. She reiterated Tuesday that she would not turn over the actual emails or the servers, which “will remain private.” She claims 30,000 emails were personal – including messages with husband Bill, who claims to have sent all of two emails, ever – and she admitted to deleting many of them because she “didn’t see any reason to keep them.” That’s nice, but as a high-ranking public official it’s not for her to decide which emails are personal and which are official, or what’s relevant for keeping.

She explained her choice to exclusively use a private email account as merely a matter of “convenience” because it enabled her to “carry just one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two.” Yes, we’re very sure it was “convenient,” but we’re not clear on how her inability to walk and chew gum at the same time commends her for the presidency.

Besides, she did carry both an iPhone and a Blackberry. Nice try.

She insisted Tuesday, “I fully complied with every rule that I was governed by.” But the fact that she used only private accounts during her time in office violates federal record keeping laws. She’ll never be prosecuted, but she wants to be our next president, so these are matters of great importance.

Not only did Clinton use this email to control the flow of information, it diverted her information to the wrong hands. Case in point: An unemployed Romanian taxi driver and part-time hacker called Guccifer discovered the existence of Clinton’s secret account in 2013. If a Romanian hacker can find it, surely the Chinese, Russians and others have too.

Not to worry. The smartest woman in the world surely made her site ironclad secure. Right? No. Her site is so vulnerable that independent security expert and developer Nic Cubrilovic said, “It is almost certain that at least some of the emails hosted at clintonemails.com were intercepted.”

Meanwhile, Madame Clinton apparently takes national security as seriously as her former boss. Presidents are duty-bound to name inspectors general to police each agency of government, but Obama refused to name one for the State Department during Hillary’s entire tenure. How convenient. Whatever’s on the servers, Obama would almost certainly pardon Clinton if need be. But he can’t protect her politically if the stink of corruption rises high enough.

Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state was a rocky one, filled with crises and scandals. A good chunk of the emails most likely would shed light on her cover-up of malfeasance in the Benghazi disaster, but she might be hiding even worse information. The Clinton Foundation, now known as the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, has been doing the legal two-step ever since Slick Willie founded it in 2001. And we believe Clinton’s real reason for refusing to reveal the emails is the Foundation. After all, the Foundation’s history of accepting money from anyone who wants to give is legendary.

Ron Fournier, a long-time friend of the Clintons, wrote a particularly damaging op-ed in which he observed, “[T]he biggest threat to Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential dreams is not her emails. It’s her family foundation. That’s where the money is: corporate money, foreign money, gobs of money sloshing around a vanity charity that could be renamed ‘Clinton Conflicts of Interest Foundation.’”

Furthermore, Fournier concluded, “Hillary Clinton’s secret communications cache is a bombshell deserving of full disclosure because of her assault on government transparency and electronic security. But its greatest relevancy is what the emails might reveal about any nexus between Clinton’s work at State and donations to the Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation from U.S. corporations and foreign nations.”

From Whitewater to Lippogate to White House coffees and everything in between, the Clintons have never changed. Coming out of Arkansas with a judge in Bill’s pocket, they’ve always been about the acquisition of power and money – Hillary’s claims about being “dead broke” notwithstanding. They’ve done very well, rising from small-time lawyers to multimillionaires with a formidable political machine. But the damage they’ve wreaked on the nation is obscene. It won’t wipe away with a simple stroke of the “delete” key.

Unfortunately, nearly half the country doesn’t care. As Fox News commentator Juan Williams noted, “In terms of the big political picture, there is no evidence [the email charade] is damaging her with the Democratic base.” Far too many Americans couldn’t care less about a Democrat candidate’s behavior, as long as he or she keeps the free stuff coming.

Iran Letter Went to the Wrong Recipient

2015-03-11-76f6ae88_large.jpg

Forty-seven Senate Republicans sent a letter to Iran’s leadership earlier this week making clear that the nuclear deal currently being negotiated does not meet the standards of a binding treaty, and that a future U.S. president could nullify it at any time. In other words, stating the obvious. The reaction was swift and furious – from the Democrats, that is.

Every leftist from presumptive presidential candidate Hillary Clinton to Smiling Joe Biden piled on, calling the letter “dangerous” and “out of step with the best traditions of American leadership” (rimshot!), while claiming it was motivated by a “rush to war” by Republican “traitors.” If anyone is a traitor, it’s the guy negotiating the deal – John Kerry.

All that said, it would have been better if the Republican senators had not sent this letter to Iran. In addition to being a poor method of conducting diplomacy, it’s bad politics. It will be spun by the Democrats and their sycophants in the media as just another example of personal animus and racism toward Barack Obama. And it will probably end up being a self-inflicted political wound that could have been avoided. Those who defend it on the basis that Democrats have done it before miss the mark. Since when has imitating Democrats been good practice?

A better approach would have been to address the letter to Obama himself and the American public, and publish it in The Washington Post and other newspapers.

In doing so, the 47 senators, led by Iraq and Afghanistan veteran Tom Cotton, could have framed the issue in terms of the Senate’s role in treaty-making, and insisted the president respect the Senate in this regard. They could have emphasized the foolishness of accepting a handshake deal with Iran instead of a binding treaty. They could have highlighted Obama’s absurd notion that deals of this magnitude should be done in secret and then presented to the American people and their representatives as a fait accompli – something that would have resonated strongly given Obama’s past deceptiveness about keeping your health plan under the Affordable Care Act. The senators could have pointed out that Iran could nullify an agreement at any time, just as the United States could.

All of this could have been used to challenge Obama to make his case to the American peoplebefore reaching a deal with Iran – to explain how a deal would somehow not do fatal damage to the Non-Proliferation Treaty.

What’s done is done, and the letter may at least have the salient effect of making the current deal with Iran less likely to come to pass. It will also force 2016 presidential hopefuls to stake out their positions on this matter, which will be beneficial over the next 18 months. But this continues a trend in which Republicans are missing the target.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Political commentator Lawrence Auster (1949-2013): “Once the government becomes the supplier of people’s needs, there is no limit to the needs that will be claimed as a basic right.”

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins: “Like most Christians, Lt. Commander Wes Modder knew the military was changing. But he didn’t know how much until the battle landed on his doorstep. … [T]he 19-year veteran has been stripped of his duties for sharing the good news he was hired to share. … Believe it or not, he was targeted by his own assistant – who Modder didn’t realize was gay. Looking back, the chaplain says the young officer asked a lot of questions about homosexuality, which Modder answered as most would expect: in accordance with the Bible’s teachings. The mask finally slipped in December, when representatives with the Equal Opportunity office served Modder with papers accusing him of ‘discrimination.’ … Worse, he didn’t have a chance to defend himself. Almost immediately, the dad of four was relieved of his duties and told to clean out his office. He was guilty before proven innocent. And of what? Fulfilling his job description? … It isn’t supposed to be this way – and it doesn’t have to be this way – if Americans who love their freedoms and their country will stand up and speak out!”

Columnist Jonah Goldberg: “The trouble for [Hillary] Clinton is that, despite all of her preparation, all of her coordination, the world is going off her script. And for a woman who thinks off-the-cuff speaking is switching from her prepared remarks to her prepared note cards, that’s a scary place. That is surely why she set up her own private Internet server. Four times at the U.N., Clinton said she had created her ‘home-brew’ email system simply for ‘convenience.’ ‘I thought it would be easier to carry just one device for my work and for my personal emails instead of two,’ she said. Never mind that it’s much easier to set up two email systems on one device than it is to set up a whole dark server hidden from the government. And leave aside that a woman who travels with a very large entourage on non-commercial flights could probably manage two devices. I’m sure she’s right. She set up the server for convenience – but not the convenience of sparing her the load of an additional 4-ounce phone. When you want to hide what you’re doing, a private server is definitely the way to go.”

Agreeing to an interview now or at any time before she’s ready to launch her campaign would be potentially detrimental, signaling that she’s shifted into damage control mode and drawing attention to an issue about which many voters are still unaware, said a former Clinton campaign aide who has knowledge of the current team’s thinking. It would also appear to challenge her aides’ assertions that she did nothing wrong.”  -Fox News

Royal treatment -   Peggy Noonan, never more indispensable than in moments like these, explains why some in the press are going knock-kneed: With the exception of the moment Wednesday when a hardy reporter from TMZ actually went to an airport and shouted a query at Mrs. Clinton—it was just like the old days of journalism, with a stakeout and shouted queries—Mrs. Clinton hasn’t been subjected to any questions from the press. She’s slide, she’ll glide, she’ll skate. (With TMZ she just walked on, smiling.) … Why doesn’t the legacy press swarm her on this? Because she is political royalty. They are used to seeing her as a regal, queenly figure. They’ve been habituated to understand that Mrs. Clinton is not to be harried, not to be subjected to gotcha questions or impertinent grilling. She is a Democrat, a star, not some grubby Republican governor from nowhere. And they don’t want to be muscled by her spokesmen.”

Needs a base crack up -   If Walker can hold his spot as the consensus conservative choice, a posture which won him a 15-point advantage in the Quinnipiac Iowa poll out this week, Bush could be frozen out of the nomination. One way for Jeb to achieve a breakout would be the approach his brother used in 2000 to win Iowa: Appeal to the social conservatives who are less concerned about issues that trouble other activists on the right, particularly immigration, and who share Bush’s opposition to abortion and fervent faith. If Bush can peel off enough of those caucus goers to add to his moderate, pro-business coalition, he could emerge ahead of a crowded field for an Iowa win.

The Truth Is Not In Them – More Regime Cover Up
(rickwells.us) - In the nObama White House, answering a question regarding their role in the compromise of classified secret documents in conjunction with Hilly Clinton was described as speculation, a practice that they refused to engage in...It’s something they would simply never do, just like upholding the Constitution, acting in the interest of the American people, and honoring their oaths of office. They are clearly hiding something, most likely a lot of “somethings.” The Associated Press’ Matt Lee questioned State Department spokes-obstructer Jen Psaki seeking a response to questions of the security and vulnerability of the Clinton State Department emails. Those documents are presently being held captive in the Do-It-Yourself State Department Communications Center in Chappaqua, NY.  backstabber Boehner Cut Deal With Nancy Pulosi to Fund Amnesty
(Matthew Boyle) - A new bombshell report from Politico found that House Speaker backstabber John Boehner had several days of secret negotiations with Minority Leader Nancy Pulosi...the recently emboldened former Speaker, leading up to his decision to flip-flop and fund President nObama’s executive amnesty—including a pre-hashed out deal to use the hoopla around Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Tuesday address to Congress over Iran’s nuclear ambitions as political cover to sneak in the extraordinarily controversial vote. Even with the bombshell report, however, backstabber Boehner’s office continues to deny any deal took place. Since Friday, Pulosi and backstabber Boehner have held quiet rounds of negotiations and maneuvering to push the measure through the House over the objections of a cadre of conservatives in backstabber Boehner’s conference who scuttled a three-week funding bill in a dramatic showdown last week. As late as Tuesday, backstabber Boehner tapped Democrats to help pass a procedural rule for a funding bill for Amtrak that Republicans were threatening to bring down if it did not include a provision that would stop a clean DHS bill from moving forward. But Pulosi pledged Democratic support to move forward — a departure from normal where the minority party always votes against rules brought by the party controlling the floor.       http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/03/05/report-boehner-cut-deal-with-nancy-pelosi-to-use-netanyahu-speech-as-cover-to-fund-obamas-executive-amnesty/

(burtprelutsky.com) - Even though Bernie Goldberg has elected for perfectly rational reasons to stop posting my articles, we continue to exchange friendly email. I like Bernie and I think he’s a smart guy, but occasionally I think he goes out of his way to poke Evangelicals, possibly to appear fair and balanced when attacking Islamic jihadists.

Although Bernie is not a liberal, it is the sort of moral equivalence in which those on the Left are often engaged. It’s not unlike nObama’s comparing those who are lopping off heads and setting people on fire today to the Crusades, which took place a thousand years ago and were conducted in retaliation to Islamic barbarism.

Recently, after Scott Walker refused to answer an English reporter’s question about Evolution, Bernie took him to task and, by extension, those Christians who are convinced that the earth is only 6,000 years old.

I wrote to him, stating: “I believe in Evolution. You believe in Evolution. A great many people who vote for Republicans take the Bible literally and believe that God actually created everything in six 24-hour days. That being said, why should a GOP politician even bother answering a gotcha question that serves no other purpose than to help get his liberal opponent elected?”

My own response to the English bloke would be that there is no contradiction between science and religion; that the world evolved, but the force behind both its creation and its evolvement was God. And I would then quickly segue into prepared remarks about wiping out ISIS, and how our two countries should lead the fight against Islamic fascism, just as we did in the 40s when we united to defeat Nazism.

Or perhaps, if I were in a waspish mood, I might say, “Don’t be such a twit. I’m a politician, not a theologian. Would you ask the Archbishop of Canterbury how he feels about tariffs or the corporate tax rate?”

The fact of the matter is that it doesn’t really matter what senators and presidents think about Evolution because it will never influence their policy decisions. Belief in global warming, on the other hand, is Al Gore-inspired malarkey that has made him a billionaire and has the potential to bankrupt the industrial West. And when you get right down to it, that’s what motivates many of its most enthusiastic, anti-capitalistic, anti-American, proponents.

It seems to me that if Bernie Goldberg or anyone else is going to attack those peddling myths, it makes more sense to ridicule those whose myths can actually do irreparable damage to America.

Speaking of England, recently the Brits have noticed a huge spike in air rage incidents involving passengers attacking personnel, smoking in the loos and making dumb jokes about bombs on planes. They have traced the source of the problem to guest lounges at the airport, where people are fueling up for the flight with intoxicatingly large amounts of booze.

It reminded me that some years ago, I was taking a train from San Diego to L.A. and there were nonstop announcements, urging passengers to visit the bar car and imbibe. It was as if John Barleycorn had control of the P.A. system.

I found it so irresponsible and annoying that I wrote a letter to Amtrak. I pointed out that not only did the boozers grow increasingly loud and obnoxious as we made our way up the coast, but they were then stumbling off the train and getting into their cars to drive home.

Some bureaucrat wrote back, promising to look into it. My guess is that the only thing he looked into was how much dough Club Amtrak was raking in, and then received a bonus for suggesting they also start offering crack cocaine and heroin.

Something I don’t understand is why Vladimir Putin has been so reluctant to regain Russia’s lost empire. When he looks around and notices that the U.S and its NATO allies refuse to confront the small army of ISIS -- an army, by the way, lacking an air force -- you would think he’d begin salivating at the thought of gobbling up Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, East Germany and anything else in the European smorgasbord that might tantalize his appetite.

I mean, really, if beheadings and human bonfires aren’t enough to incite and unite what passes for western civilization, it’s hard to imagine that a few divisions of Russian tanks and infantry rolling across borders is going to meet with any real resistance.

On the other hand, in the Middle East we are seeing something some of us never imagined possible. The prime minister of Israel, the king of Jordan and the president of Egypt, are joining together in opposition to ISIS. It would be nice to see the United States taking its place among the nations of the willing, but so long as Barack nObama remains the world’s foremost apologist for Islamic terrorism, it’s probably just as well that America is not involved. If anything, we should probably be grateful that nObama hasn’t thrown his support to the jihadists.

In better news, Ash Carter, recently installed as this month’s Secretary of Defense, did the right thing by removing Admiral John Kirby as the spokesman for the Pentagon, and promising to replace him with a civilian. Listening to lies intended to prop up nObama and mislead Americans is bad enough without having to listen to them from a schmuck with a chest full of medals, who brought dishonor to his military uniform by performing the duties of a political hack.

It was recently divulged that the Hilly, Bill and Chelsea Clinton Foundation has collected two billion dollars since 2001, much of it from foreign nations, including the likes of Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman. Some people feel this could prove an embarrassment to Hilly if she makes a run for the 2016 nomination, but I disagree. I don’t believe it is possible to shame this couple. I mean, after Monica Lewinsky and Benghazi, the fact that these two are still lusting for power tells you they not only don’t know the meaning of shame, they can’t even spell the word.

However, when it comes to money and politicians, it’s my feeling that any time someone gets into politics poor and ends up wealthy, he or she should wind up in jail. Better yet, I would deal with corrupt politicians the way rumor has it things were handled in ancient Rome. I’d tie them in a burlap bag with a wild cat and toss the bag in the river. For those of you who think we should prove ourselves to be more civilized than the Romans, I’d be willing to spare the wild cat.

Finally, we come to someone who in a less scandal-riddled administration would be attracting a good deal more attention. I refer to loose lips Joe Biden. When you take his sleazy habit of running his hands over every woman within reach and combine it with his insistence on swimming in the nude in front of his female Secret Service agents, you have a V.P. who reminds a lot of people of their creepiest uncle – the one who eventually wound up in the clink or the loony bin.

YOU DECIDE DEMOCRACY OR PLUTOCRACY

By: Juan Reynoso, WTP Activist  -  voteforamerica@gmail.com

Americas must realize that self-scrutiny is not treason. Self-examination is not disloyalty.

We seek the truth and let the people know. Truth and knowledge diffused among the people are necessary for the preservation of our Democracy, rights, freedom and liberties.

The Oligarchy world - http://www.nwotoday.com/today/the-world-financial-system

http://www.usnews.com/news/blogs/at-the-edge/2014/04/21/oligarchy-nation

Fellow Americans,   for many years we are being brainwash and control by corporate America; we let them to gain the wealth and power to control us and made us economy slaves; thanks God that today most Americans are aware of what is going on in our country and many are turning their back to this corrupt system of plutocracy and oligarchy that is ruling our country. Americans choose to be free in a Democracy and refuse to be slaves of this plutocracy that is ruling our country.

Fellow Americans, this is the truth. Americans all want the same thing and most share the same political values; most of us want, Liberty, Justice, equal opportunity, good quality of life, preserve our traditional values, good communities and free enterprise system. And most of us are oppose to:  Big government, corporate and government cronyism, corporate monopoly, corporate farming, banking investment, corporate political contributions, corporate officers serving in government’s agencies or government officials serving at corporate positions, the so call “revolving doors”, and all forms of corruption in our government and corporations. Americans believe in good corporate model that serve the country and our communities, free enterprise and subscribe to the ideology that corporate, labor and the communities must work and stand united for the protection of our economy and welfare of the people and the security of our country; Democracy will make our country strong and prosperous, but plutocracy and corporate oligarchy will destroy our country. We believe that the corporate elite are like rats that invade our halls of government and destroy the cornerstone of democracy, now that we know the damage done by the rats; we need to fix the damage and exterminate the rats before they destroy our country.

We believe that united at this time of absolute urgency to action, old and young must work as one to demise the globalist predator oligarchy corporate and take over our country and restore Democracy and our Republic. We must exterminate the rats, vote out the corrupt politicians and seek statesman to fill the vacancies that will result from the purge of this corrupt system of government. 30% of our Washington politicians are good people that we must support but we must fire the 70% that become whores and sell out their principles and betray us the American people.

Fellow Americans, Most of the corporate mainstream news media is corrupt, they are the propaganda machinery that work for them and is use to brainwash the people. The truth is reported by the alternative news media, they are the true journalist that refused to sell out and report the truth, they know that to preserve Democracy our rights our freedom and liberties, the people must know the truth.

 Lee-Rubio Tax Reform: Pro-Growth, Pro-Family
Republican Senators Mike Lee and Marco Rubio have put forward version 2.0 of their tax reform proposal first released last September. The two men offer a bit more detail to their sweeping plan this time around, and it's still a strong, pro-growth proposal. The broad strokes of the Lee-Rubio plan focus on making significant changes to the tax code to right the wrongs that have grown and multiplied over the last several decades. One of the most attractive elements of the plan is that it addresses both the business and the individual side of the tax structure from top to bottom. As National Review's Yuval Levin points out, "Successful conservative tax reforms have always provided both broad-based relief and better incentives at the margins -- not one or the other." The current tax code, as Lee and Rubio point out in their latest Wall Street Journal op-ed, has manifold failures -- "impeding growth, discouraging investment, and restricting freedom on the business and the individual side -- [and) they are all rooted in the same fundamental unfairness and inequity of a government that picks winners and losers." It's one of the reasons recovery from the Great Recession has been more of a long, slow crawl toward a new mediocrity.  -The Patriot Post

HILLY LETS DEMS TWIST ON HER EMAIL SCANDAL
Democrats are having plenty of Ralph Kramden moments when asked about Hilly Clinton’s email scandal. If anything frightens lawmakers more than 4 inches of snow, it is the prospect of getting crossways with Clinton’s communications cutthroats. But they’re not giving Democrats much to work with here. Lashing out at the NYT and trying to shift the blame to the nObama administration is not exactly putting Hill Democrats in their sweet spot. And when the subject – lack of transparency and ethical concerns – goes to the heart of the party’s misgivings about its presumptive nominee, it’s that much tougher.

[Literally? – “I literally don’t know anything about her home internet system.” – Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., when asked about the scandal by National Journal.]
While the party will eventually unite (mostly) behind Clinton, seeking to defend her from the “vast right wing conspiracy” she will blame for this debacle, this will leave a stain. The subtle shift in thinking that may be the most consequential is this: Once Democrats wondered if they needed a primary challenger to Hilly to get her to move left and to tune her up for the general. Now they wonder if one won’t be necessary in case Hilly blows up like the Death Star. That shift opens the door for potential challengers, particularly loose lips Biden and O’Malley to make a case for their candidacies that is not explicitly ideological, but a practical consideration for the party. For Liz Warren, meanwhile, the moment may be growing nearer when she could deliver what is the single gravest threat to the Clintons’ effort to return to power.  -Fox News

Just in case you ever need them… -   Vice President loose lips Joe Biden will address gay rights activists tonight in Washington D.C. and Former Gov. Martin O’Malley, D-Md., is set to spend the weekend in New Hampshire, delivering a keynote address tonight at a fundraiser for the Merrimack County Democratic Committee and the Concord City Democrats. On Saturday, he will appear at a fundraiser for the New Hampshire Democratic Party and later will deliver the keynote address at the Washington Days banquet in Topeka, Kansas.  -Fox News

Use discredit to discredit -   Jackie Kucinich and Tim Mak report on how Democrats are using the new revelations about Clinton’s secret email server to attack the House committee charged with unraveling the causes and cover-up of the 2012 Islamist raid on the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi, Libya.

CLINTONS COUNT ON COWED, COMPLICIT PRESS
How does Hilly Clinton think that she will get away with blowing off reporters even as she attends public events that are part of her still-unregistered presidential campaign, including a weekend shindig for her controversial family foundation? Or even more overtly political events and not answer for a mounting list of questions about her decision to evade federal rules about her emails as Secretary of State? She is counting on a complicit press. And she is likely to be largely obliged.  -Fox News

 The Palestinians Want... Peace?
(Khaled Abu Toameh) - The latest PLO and Fatah campaign is not directed only against settlement products. Rather, it is targeting anything made in Israel, as a part of an "anti-normalization" movement, whose goal is to thwart any encounters between Israelis and Palestinians, including peace conferences...The Palestinian Authority's strategy now is to intensify its campaign to isolate and delegitimize Israel in the international community, and promote all forms of boycotts of Israelis and Israeli goods; to force Israel to make concessions through international pressure and through campaigns of boycott and divestment. These campaigns are further radicalizing Palestinians, driving many of them into the open arms of radical groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad.       http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5347/palestinians-want-peace

(Josh Siegel and Kelsey Harris) - A federal judge may have temporarily halted President nObama’s executive actions on immigration, but the White House is still proceeding as if it expects the programs to stand. In this video, The Daily Signal explores one reason why...The nObama administration, or more specifically a government agency called Citizenship and Immigration Services, has set up an “operational center” just outside Washington, D.C., as the hub that will process thousands of applications expected to come from Obama’s immigration actions.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dR6_zCKFT-s

Supreme Court Rules Against ObamaCare HHS Mandate
(WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday threw out an appeals court decision that went against the University of Notre Dame over its religious objections to the nObamacare health law’s contraception requirement...The justices asked the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to reconsider its decision in favor of the nObama administration in light of the June 2014 Supreme Court ruling that allowed closely held corporations to seek exemptions from the provision. The court’s action means the February 2014 appeals court ruling that denied the South Bend, Indiana-based Roman Catholic university an injunction against the requirement has been wiped out.  US Backed Islamist Reportedly Now Leads ISIS in Libya
(nicedeb.wordpress.com) - Major news out of Libya as the former head of the Al Qaeda-linked Libyan Islamic Fighting Group, and a major player in theU.S.-backed overthrow of Mummar Gaddafi, has reportedly joined the Islamic State and is leading its forces there...This according to The Blaze National Security journalist Sara Carter on twitter, and Fox News’ Catherine Herridge in a Fox News report. Belhadj’s ties to Al Qaeda were controversial during the run up to U.S. airstrikes in support of the Libyan rebels, but this did not prevent him from maintaining a high profile at the time, including being made head of the Tripoli Military Council, a position he held until resigning to run for office in May 2012. Belhadj has a reputation for involvement in the international jihad has well, playing a role in the 2004 Madrid training bombings, and accused by investigators of being involved in the murder of two Tunisian politicians at behest of the Muslim Brotherhood.       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB_XX1oEKDo

47 Senators Could Throw A HUGE Wrench Into nObama’s Big Plan
(Norvell Rose) - Pushing back hard against the nObama administration, forty-seven GOP senators have signed an open letter to the Iranian regime offering a lesson in how the U.S. system of government functions under the Constitution...The letter advises Iran that any deal concerning Tehran’s nuclear program that President nObama agrees to without Senate consent could die when nObama leaves office. As The Hill reports, the letter that was spearheaded by freshman Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas advises the Iranians that “anything not approved by Congress is a mere executive agreement” — an agreement that could well be changed or voided altogether when there’s a new executive in the White House.

US Military To Be Absorbed Into UN Peacekeepers, Disbanded
(rickwells.us) - For most Americans, the fact that the United States has filed with the United Nations a document pledging to submit to UN military authority and to dismantle our own military capability in the process would seem unbelievable...The “progressives” have set us down that path and while it won’t happen overnight, they fully intend for it to happen. The United Nations is far more than an international money skimming operation disguised as an aid organization. It was established as the foundation for a world government, one in which the United States ultimately assumes a subordinate position as just another of many member nations, to unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats. It will be modeled along the lines of a worldwide EU, only more austere, oppressive and authoritarian.       http://www.rickwells.us/traitorous-but-true-un-framework-document-for-us-subjugation-us-military-to-be-absorbed-into-un-peacekeepers-disbanded/

It's Not Too Late to Stop Net Neutrality
It's Not Too Late to Stop Net Neutrality
(C. Mitchell Shaw) - Republican lawmakers are pursuing legislation to reverse the FCC's Net Neutrality ruling, which at least one lawmaker describes as "illegal." In the February 26 ruling, which will take effect unless blocked by Congress...the FCC voted to regulate the Internet as a public utility under Title II of the Communications Act. Called "Net Neutrality," the FCC-approved regulations promise an end to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) "giving preferential treatment" to some Internet services and "discriminating" against others. The FCC's plan also promises to put an end to so-called "paid fast lanes" on the Internet by banning ISPs from offering faster connections to customers who pay more. It'll be a one-size-fits-all Internet. Unfortunately, one size never fits all. Allowing an unelected bureaucratic agency to regulate the Internet is a recipe for stifling the free-market spirit of innovation that made the Internet work in the first place.       http://www.thenewamerican.com/tech/item/20313-it-s-not-too-late-to-stop-net-neutrality?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_campaign=25c8509dd1-The_Editors_Top_Picks_3_12_143_12_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8ca494f2d2-25c8509dd1-289778381

Russia Warns Against Planned U.S. Training Mission in Ukraine
Russia Warns Against Planned U.S. Training Mission in Ukraine
(Jack Kenny) - Russian officials denounced the anticipated arrival of U.S. troops for a training mission in Ukraine a “provocation” that could result in serious consequences for “Kiev authorities and the Ukrainian people.”...The training exercise, first announced last August, was scheduled to begin this month. Colonel Michael Foster of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, based in Vincenza, Italy, announced last Monday that the United States would be sending just under a battalion of soldiers to Ukraine to train troops from the Ukrainian National Guard by the end of the week. But on Friday a spokesman for U.S. forces in Europe told the Reuters news service that the training mission had been on hold indefinitely while a ceasefire agreement, reached in Minsk last month between the Ukraine government and rebel forces, remains in place.       http://www.thenewamerican.com/world-news/europe/item/20315-russia-warns-against-planned-u-s-training-mission-in-ukraine?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_campaign=25c8509dd1-The_Editors_Top_Picks_3_12_143_12_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8ca494f2d2-25c8509dd1-289778381

Iran's Growing Role in Iraq Worries U.S., Saudi Officials
Iran's Growing Role in Iraq Worries U.S., Saudi Officials
(Jack Kenny) - As Iranian-sponsored Shiite militias take an increasing role in the fight against the Islamic State, Iran’s growing influence in Iraq is setting off alarm bells from Washington to Riyadh, the Associated Press reported...At a hearing of the Senate Armed Services Committee last week, General Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that about two-thirds of the Iraqi forces now fighting for Tikrit are Shiite militias supported by Iran, which also has provided artillery and other resources. The rest are Iraqi regular forces, he said. At the same hearing, committee chairman John McCain (R-Ariz.) asked Defense Secretary Ashton Carter if it alarms him that Iran “has basically taken over the fight.” "It does. It does," Carter replied, adding, "We're watching it very closely."  http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/foreign-policy/item/20317-iran-s-role-in-iraq-worries-u-s-saudi-officials?utm_source=Newsletter&utm_campaign=25c8509dd1-The_Editors_Top_Picks_3_12_143_12_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_8ca494f2d2-25c8509dd1-289778381

America's Military Power in a Steep Decline
Alan Caruba
US%2BMilitary.jpg
(factsnotfantasy.blogspot.com) - “Eliminating the terrorists of today with force will not guarantee protection from the terrorists of tomorrow. We have to transform the environments that give birth to these movements…It may be training young people so they can get jobs…it may be working to eliminate corruption and promote the rule of law…”

The nObama administration proposal that a jobs program be created for the militants in the Middle East was met with appropriate derision because what the jihadists need is killing. That’s what they are doing to Christians, Jews and others in the Middle East and elsewhere.

The quote above is by Hanoi John Kerry, the Secretary of State, and to be fair, his February 18 Wall Street Journal commentary began by saying “The rise of violent extremism represents the pre-eminent challenge of the young 21st Century. Military force is a rational and often necessary response to the wanton slaughters of children, mass kidnappings of schoolgirls, and beheading of innocents. But military force along won’t achieve victory.”

Hanoi Kerry is wrong. History as recent as the mid-20th century is proof enough that the military defeat of Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan was the only thing that ended the threat they represented. He was also wrong when he told a congressional committee that the world is a safer place these days when it is clear to anyone it is not.

We are being led by people who live in some alternative universe where pixie dust and unicorns exist.

The real question the nObama administration has to answer is why, since he took office in 2009, has he been systematically reducing the military power of the United States? By pulling our troops out of Iraq he created a vacuum filled by the Islamic State (ISIS) that now threatens the entire Middle East and parts of North Africa. He has since curtailed plans to pull most of our troops out of Afghanistan.

Out of sight of Americans, however, the key personnel, the leaders on which our military depends, have been subject to a purge. General Paul Vallely (Ret) has warned that “Since Barack nObama has been in the White House, high ranking military officers have been removed from their positions at a rate that is absolutely unprecedented,” adding that “He’s intentionally weakening and gutting our military and reducing us as a superpower, and anyone in the ranks who disagrees or speaks out is being purged.”

In late February, 84 former U.S. government officials, retired U.S. military leaders, and national security experts sent an open letter to the House and Senate leadership asking them to work together to end the harm that the Budget Control Act and sequestration is inflicting on our Armed Forces.

They deemed the trillion dollars of required defense spending cuts “a grave and growing danger to our national security…as threats intensify across the globe.” The cuts “are undermining the readiness of our forces today and investment in the critical capabilities they will need tomorrow.”

“In the last three years, the Army’s strength has been cut by nearly 100,000 soldiers. The Navy’s contingency response force is at one-third the level of what it should be. Less than half of the Air Force’s combat squadrons are fully ready. Approximately half of the Marine Corps non-deployed units lack sufficient personnel, equipment, and training.”

These were facts set forth in the National Defense Panel’s July 2014 report. It warned that if sequestration takes effect in fiscal year 2016, the U.S. would be facing an “immediate readiness crisis.”

This lack of readiness was the subject of a Wall Street Journal commentary, “Europe’s Defense Wanes as the Putin Threat Grows” by Ian Birrell, so it is not just the United States that lacks sufficient troops and weapons in the event of a war. Birrell noted that “With fewer than 100,000 full-time troops, Great Britain now has a smaller army than during the mid-19th-century Crimean War.” Other members of NATO have cut their defense budgets in recent years. He warned that “As we fight this new Cold War, Western leaders need to relearn the old lessons of crisis management and deterrence that defeated Mr. Putin’s Soviet predecessors—and relearn them quickly.”

Recall that Secretary Hanoi Kerry has gone on record saying that “climate change” is the greatest threat the U.S. and the world faces. Little wonder that Chuck Hegel resigned as the former Secretary of Defense given the pressure he was under from a White House indifferent to the real problems and threats the U.S. faces.

In 2014 the Pentagon released a “Climate Change Adaptation Forecast” and any defense funds diverted to this plan were just that much less than needed for our troops in the field and the real needs of the U.S. military. Are they supposed to be fighting melting ice bergs or staying ready for potential military threats from China or Russia?

An example of the idiotic political correctness, scarce Pentagon resources are being diverted to a plan to generate 50% of the Navy’s energy needs from “alternative sources” by 2020, including $3.5 billion for biofuels. You cannot fight a global war if the Navy cannot swiftly and easily acquire oil to run its ships that are not nuclear-powered and fly its aircraft.

At the same time, the U.S. has been reducing its stockpile of nuclear arms. The State Department’s Rose Gottemoeller, under-secretary for arms control and international security, recently told a group “The U.S. commitment to achieving the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons is unassailable.” She noted that the nation’s stockpile of active weapons is down 85% from maximum cold war levels, falling to 4,804 in 2013 from a high of 31,255, adding that “We still have more work to do.”

This completely ignores nuclear nations like North Korea who have bad intentions toward the U.S. and their neighbors and it runs completely contrary to the U.S. negotiations with Iran that would permit it to become a nuclear armed nation.

This is worse than diplomatic schizophrenia; it is a plan for national suicide.

Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Vincent Stewart, director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, recently told Congress that Russia and China have placed their highest priority on building up and maintaining strategic nuclear forces.

If you want to know what is wrong about the entire approach to our nation’s military needs, consider that since 2009 when nObama took office, the Pentagon’s civilian workforce has grown about 7% to almost 750,000, while active-duty military personnel have been cut by approximately 8%.

At the same time, dozens of military-equipment and weapons programs have been canceled, including a new Navy cruiser, a new search-and-rescue helicopter, the F-22 first-generation fighter, the C-17 transport aircraft, missile defense and the Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle.

We are not prepared to fight a war and now you know why.

hscan-1.jpg?width=219Yesterday, in part 1, I outlined Hillary’s email scandal and ended that article with, “From Watergate, where Hillary was fired from the investigation for unethical behavior to Servergate where she tried to slip all of her emails past official detection…with Whitewater…Vince Foster and Benghazi and many other scandals all sandwiched in between…Hillary Clinton has started to become a pariah to even some in the mainstream liberal media. So much so that she will NOT be running in 2016 or ever for that matter.”

“It’s not just this email scandal that is behind it either but…I’ll have more on that tomorrow.”

Well, the time has come to expose what I believe to be the true roots of an upcoming decision by Hillary Clinton NOT to make another run at the presidency in 2016.

To connect the dots, we must first return to 2008 when, in the couple of years leading up to the democrat national convention…all eyes were on Hillary. She was seemingly the heir apparent. The nomination was hers and republicans had geared up for THAT specific fight.

Then…along came Barack Hussein Obama and everything changed. Hillary was NOT nominated and the rest, as they say, has been history.

It should come as no great surprise to anyone who watches these events, REALLY watches these events, that the mainstream liberal media is now starting to turn on Hillary. Too many people believe it’s the email scandal that was the last straw but…

On this day in 1939, a wonderful and beautiful song entertained America, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” became an instant hit and remains an Iconic classic.  America celebrated a New Musical in all its brilliant Technicolor, ‘The Wizard of Oz’… a tale of hope and a promise of renewal.   This Iconic production came out the same year as “Gone With The Wind” another blockbuster of a film, and a testimony to Americana and its glorious spirit of innovation and renewal.  Both were classical examples of our people’s masterful ability to captivate the world in full color and sound.  Dorothy, Rhett, Scarlett and a full cast of sterling Characters flashed across the large screens of the world, painting an almost believable vision of a nation able to overcome every evil in a world of despair… not so today.

Where has the America of Scarlett, Dorothy, Rhett and Toto gone… the Yellow Brick Road and the wonders of the Emerald city, have been replaced by a Bridge to nowhere and the conflagration of Watt’s California.  That adventurous spirit of a Nation, once enamored with tales of glory and wonder, crafted by a Hollywood in tune with its audience, has been replaced by a narrative of an America in decline and Freddie Kruger running rampant in the Streets of America… No more Yellow Brick Road , no Toto, Rhett, Dorothy or Scarlett on our wide screens today.  The vision that was once America in its glory is now portrayed as the protagonist in a horror film.

Where has Rhett Butler and Scarlett O’Hara gone, those two immortalized characters, who once spoke of the fighting spirit that was America and its enterprising people… a Nation that took on the wilderness and emerged a giant in a world of lesser grandeur.  Hollywood and the American dream are Gone with the Wind and Toto has been abandoned in the once glorious vision of Oz.  There he waits for Dorothy to return; If only there were a Yellow Brick Road?

No, America is not the same.. it no longer embraces a culture that ‘can’ or a narrative of success thru hard work.  The wicked witch of the West has resurrected her sister of the East and both have laid siege to the Emerald City.  Tara is abandoned and Rhett has gone to sea; while, Scarlett ponders, with wonder, how the promise of her youth could yield such misery.  America has been TRANSFORMED into something Scarlett and Dorothy would not recognize.  We no longer tap dance down the Yellow Brick Road, to overcome the demons of our imagination…  Tara and the glory that was Oz are gone… and the Demons have returned.

However, the story has not ended and Rhett has yet begun to fight… Dorothy still wears her Ruby Slippers and with two quick clicks, of her heals, home can be found again.  Let us  take hold of the Wind and Rhett’s hand… Let Scarlett build again a new Tara… A better home, where our sons and daughters may yet find the ‘yellow brick road’ and the path to the Emerald City of our imaginations, that America may once again sing… Somewhere over the rainbow… And with a little wizardry, what was a dream can become reality, in all the fullness and glory Technicolor alone could never produce.

The spirit of renewal yet rests in the bosom of Dorothy and the eyes of Scarlett yet glow with the promise of a better day.  Rhett’s indomitable spirit will rise from the ashes and Tara will bloom once more in the heart of America.

  1. It appears Hillary Clinton is continuing her 2016 Presidential campaign and maintaining her support for women as if men are/were restricting her; whereas, Hillary Clinton’s own female employees in her Senate office were paid less than men.

  2. As we learned last week in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, it may be that President Obama and his administration may be close to agreeing with Iran on a very dangerous agreement; allowing Iran to have a nuclear bomb, and many of them.

Former Sec. of State, Hillary Clinton criticizes Senate Republicans for submitting a warning letter to Iran.  After several years of Iranian lies after other failed negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program, Senate Republicans may have been warning Iran’s officials that even if President Obama and his Senate Democrats will not protect America and the State of Israel, Senate Republicans will.

It appears Hillary Clinton is in step with President Obama, his State Department team, and most Capitol Hill Democrats in an effort to support  Iran, the world’s worst government supporting ‘TERRORISTS’ groups and, perhaps, determined to destroy the State of Israel. Americans must remember how the 2012 Democrat National Committee (DNC) Delegates and Alternates at the Charlotte, NC Convention voted to reject the word ‘God’ and ‘Jerusalem’ as the Capitol of the State of Israel, into the National Democrat Party’s Platform.

President Obama must/should never be allowed to use or share any US military equipment or other armed forces, in any way against any US allies, and more specifically the State of Israel.

  3. Hillary Clinton must have forgotten her own 2007 speech of ‘illegal’ E-mails. http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2015/03/flashback-hillary-attacks-bush-officials-for-secret-email-accounts-video/

  4. Hillary Clinton ‘chose’ to ‘deny or reject’ a ‘secure’ US State Department E-mail setup while using what appears to be an ‘unsecure’ E-mail server setup.  Hillary Clinton’s decision may have allowed enemy nations and other ‘terrorists’ Islamic groups to see and read any and/or all non-secured E-mails.

  5. By setting up her own personal E-mail server system, Hillary Clinton controlled any and all information that was, or was not, transferred and copied at the State Department.  You may see that Hillary Clinton addresses that these copies were all job related.  She is confirming her total control of all E-mails of what she decided as to what the State Department receives.

  6. Hillary Clinton clarifies that the State Department delivered some 55,000 E-mails upon request or demand; all as she says were work related.  Hillary Clinton believes we should trust her on all.  She is not in a position for her to determine all E-mails as to whether E-mails are job related or personal and/or what were put on her own personal E-mail server system and going to the State Department.  She must understand these entire job related E-mails are not to be determined to her.  All E-mails must be confirmed by others whether these E-mails are work related or personal.

  7. Here again, Hillary Clinton is saying she asked the State Department to release all job related E-mails.  Again, all E-mails received to the State Department were only what E-mails she would release to the State Department from her own E-mail server system.

  8. While Hillary Clinton says she is so proud of her work as Secretary of State, this means she must be so proud of employing members of al-Qaeda for the ‘security’ at the Benghazi, Libya Embassy facility where as US Ambassador and 3 others died.

  9. Mrs. Clinton, convenience may have cost the lives of our US Ambassador and 3 others Americans. When any and all Americans are at risk for your personal convenience, your service is a disgrace to our State Department, the White House, and to all of America and our citizens.

  10. What may be even worse, Mrs. Clinton, Americans have no idea as to how much of your personal convenience may have provided national security information to other ‘terrorists’ Islamic Muslim groups.
