Zpravy (h/t Markus) Opponents of the demonstrations were few and far between. The event began exclaiming Islam in the Czech Republic is not wanted!, The Czech anthem performed, followed by a minute of silence for the victims of attacks in Paris.
“I do not see fascists and xenophobes, but people who love freedom,” said one of the organizers of the demonstration Martin Pot which was met with wild applause. The crowd, of which there was that Islam is terror, he uttered the words about how the government and the media lie when they claim that terrorists are “bad Muslims”. Prophet Muhammad as “a sadistic psychopath” and alluded to “blind obedience to Islamic law”. “Islam has been at war with us since the seventh century,” said Konvička. Muslims were urged to leave Islam:

An update on this post. via Patrick Poole Muslim Congressman’s Ferguson Panel at Chicago Islamic Convention Features Al-Qaeda Webmaster, Taliban Fundraiser | PJ Tatler.
Congressman Andre Carson found himself in strange company Saturday evening when he was scheduled to be featured on a panel with a known Al-Qaeda webmaster and Taliban fundraiser, Mazen Mokhtar, during the just-concluded 2014 Muslim American Society/Islamic Circle of North America (MAS/ICNA) 2014 convention held in Chicago.
The panel was titled “Ferguson is our issue: We Can’t Breath.”
One attendee tweeted that the joint Carson/Mokhtar panel was the “most important session” of the convention:
https://twitter.com/nytojannah/status/549008937169997824 (now removed)
Mokhtar is presumably well-known to Carson, one of two sitting Muslim members of Congress, since Mokhtar is well-known to the FBI.
In 2004, Mokhtar was named in a federal affidavit in the case of a UK-based Al-Qaeda website that raised money for the Taliban and other terrorist organizations.
According to the Washington Post:
Meanwhile, a New Jersey man is under investigation for having helped a British computer specialist, also arrested in London this week, allegedly solicit funds for a terrorist group by creating and operating an exact replica of the British man’s Web site.
Mazen Mokhtar, an Egyptian-born imam and political activist, operated a Web site identified in an affidavit unsealed Friday by the U.S. attorney’s office in Connecticut. The Web site solicited funds for the Taliban and Chechen mujaheddin, according to the affidavit. It is an exact replica of Web sites operated by Babar Ahmad, who was arrested in England on a U.S. extradition warrant this week.
The affidavit said the New Jersey home of the mirror Web site operator, identified on a Web site as Mokhtar, was searched in the recent past and that copies of Azzam Publications sites, operated by Ahmad, were found on Mokhtar’s computer’s hard drive and files.
Officials at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, which is leading the investigation, declined yesterday to comment on Mokhtar or the New Jersey investigation.
A CNN report (now removed from their website) added:
Federal officials are investigating a man accused of running Web sites that are exact replicas of those used to solicit funds for the Taliban and Chechen mujahedeen, according to a criminal complaint filed Friday by the U.S. attorney’s office in New Haven, Connecticut.
Law enforcement sources identified the man as Mazen Mokhtar, 36, of New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Those sources said Mokhtar is the “specific individual who resides in the United States” referred to in the affidavit as working with Babar Ahmad to solicit funds for the “blocked organizations … in an effort to support their goals.”
…
Mokhtar currently serves as the executive director of the national MAS. A 2004 Chicago Tribune investigative report, published just a month after Mokhtar was named in the federal affidavit, noted that MAS was founded by Muslim Brotherhood members to conceal their ties to the Egyptian Islamic group.
In 2007, federal prosecutors described the group in a federal court filing saying that MAS was “founded as the overt arm of the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States”:
…
Congressman Carson is not without his own controversy. While speaking to a 2012 ICNA convention, Carson told attendees that American schools will never be innovative until they become modeled after the Islamic education system.
Carson’s fellow Muslim congressman, Keith Ellison, is not without his own controversy. In 2012, I noted here at PJ Media Ellison’s long entanglement with Muslim Brotherhood front groups and Islamic organizations identified in federal court as fronts for foreign terrorist organizations, with even his hajj trip to Mecca being paid for by MAS to the tune of $13,500.
Again, we ask readers to watch this video and send it to your elected officials. This man is absolutely dangerous. Between his CAIR/Muslim Brotherhood ties and his Nation of Islam background – his interests are not the safety of all Americans.
FB Friends:
Despite the recent elections, the political and economic future of America is bleak. The economy is a shambles, despite government and media efforts to mask and skew statistics, we are hopelessly mired in a massive debt spiral that will ultimately destroy our economy.
As I've pointed out frequently in all my web venues, we've allowed our enemies to infiltrate, lead, control, and ultimately to use our institutions, particularly educational, against us. The steady march of government toward collectivism and big government seems unstoppable. All we've been able to do for decades is sometimes slow it or block it temporarily. Here is an illustration of the trends:
We seem to be fighting a holding action against the inevitable.
There will come a point at which the only physical choices for fiscal and political conservatives will be:
1. To surrender/convert to Marxism/Humanism. This is not an option for me, against my nature, principles, and faith, ie: I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees!
2. Flee; to another country, or hide, go "underground." Going elsewhere is not really a good option as most all nations are already Marxist, humanist, hedonist, practice false religions to extremes, or are collapsing into one of these things to varying degrees. Pretty much all of them have leaders and governments already in league with the Marxist/Humanist or Moslems and won’t be able to resist the global regime. Hiding in this age within our borders, against modern weapons and technology is desperate and deadly at best.
3. Fight a long, bloody, protracted guerrilla shooting war, a war of attrition most likely, against all these forces, a revolution. This would be driven probably by a coalition of people who may also run the entire spectrum of “true believers” various religious and political beliefs OUTSIDE of Marxism/humanism. I’d likely join such a fight on principle, IF I were still around and not already dead (or perhaps otherwise removed out of the world before that - a possibility). but such a fight will be devastating, on a massive scale, and likely doomed to failure by sheer weight of arms and numbers and resources.
I say there are only three physical choices, because the real choice, the permanent one, is purely a Spiritual choice, that then impacts your actions and your physical choices.
As a very vocal and active constitutionalist, conservative, and Christian I am often asked why I am such a jovial happy fellow, knowing what I know, and believing all this. I’ve worked for The John Birch Society first as a member and volunteer and then on staff for nearly three decades, in various positions. Most recently I have been involved in creating an online school that teaches the same principles the JBS is built on, and from a Creationist/Biblical worldview. I know more than most people, more than most Christians, what’s happening BEHIND the scenes, and what is LIKELY to happen in the near and mid futures.
I’m also asked if I’m not afraid of being a target, getting arrested, catching a bullet, losing my stuff (lol, not worth worrying about) or if I'm not afraid of being tortured. Well, of course, I don’t like pain, suffering, or relish death, any more than other human beings, and I love my seven kids, eight grand kids and my wife, very very much.
The answer is in the real solution, the age-old one, ordained and set from the Creation. God steps in and settles all of this HIS way. And He will, it’s not that far away. I’m not predicting a date, that’s not in my power. But I would be surprised with all the signs and signals if it was more than even a few months, perhaps a few years, or at the outside a couple of decades from now. I’d be shocked to see this continue much longer.
However, I also know I WILL die, eventually, and likely in the next decade or two statistically. I also know that when that happens, I’m going to heaven. I know that I’ll receive a perfect body and will leave all the attributes of this frail and sin-plagued shell behind, and that I will spend eternity with God. This gives me a very interesting perspective and a powerful set of tools and weapons, against all the fears, and against the enemies of God and man.
So if I end up dead, my enemies, the humanists, satanists, Marxists, Darwinists, etc. etc. etc, basically all the folks who DON’T KNOW CHRIST, won’t be doing me any real harm in the long run, and they won't be doing themselves any real favor either. You see, they will be sending me to a more powerful form, with an invincible leader, who has already won the fight. You see friends, I’ve read “the book” (the Bible) and I know how it ends… including who wins…and why.
If you know Christ, and I mean really KNOW Him, you’re on the same page at this point.
Just in case you don’t believe in God, don’t know Christ, and you are thinking at this point that I am “just one of those wacky religious nut extremist fundamentalist Christians… Let me remind you of the BILLIONS who have lived and died believing exactly this. Including virtually all of America’s founders and it's citizens of the first century and a half.
Let me point out what should be one very obvious and glaring example of how you can know this is true.
Think of the liberals, the Humanists, the public schools, the satanists, politically correct circles, the homosexual lobby, radical environmentalism, name your venue or poison, and consider that they all embrace and accept and promote EACH OTHER, without hesitation and without qualification. They even embrace religions like the Muslims, because they are compatible with each other spiritually, for one simple reason: They are all enemies of the true, Biblical God.
Go to a public school. You can do Transcendental Meditation, Yoga, Tai Quon Do, Buddhism, celebrate Halloween (witches, warlocks, death, satanism, et al), celebrate Kwanza, worship the earth or Al Gore, Obama, or be a “peaceful moslem” (oxymoron) or any form of sexual or social deviant, and on and on, and you’ll be embraced, given a nice place to meet, have rallies, fly flags and banners, etc. You're loved!
But just hold up a Bible. Read or publish a verse. Pray. Express the mildest opposition to any of the things listed above, and do it on CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS or BIBLICAL GROUNDS… then see what happens. :)
Pretty obvious isn’t it? I often marvel that more people don’t see through all this, realize the obvious, and come to Christ. IT’S PAINFULLY OBVIOUS. But people keep missing the main point. And when you miss this point, you have actually chosen a side, and there are really only two sides. There are two “religions” in the world, Yep, just two. Christianity, and what I call the “ABC” religion, ie: ANYTHING BUT Christianity.
If you believe, and are still fearful, take heart, have faith, do all you can in this world and fear not, especially death. It is only scary when you LACK faith.
If you don’t believe, it’s time to think carefully and make that choice… it’s the only real choice in life.
It’s not a magic formula or secret. You and God can settle this all by yourselves. The plan and the method and the particulars are in the Bible, so here’s the “extract” for your convenience.
Romans Road Verses (in the King James Version)
Romans 3:10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
All I ask is to let me know if it’s something you decided to do, sincerely.
I like to know that sharing has helped someone find the Truth, and find God, who has actually been looking for them all the while.
If you find this path, I also suggest looking for a good solid Biblically based group of believers, commonly called a church, to give real "moral support" and to encourage and help you live this way.
I'm sure this will likely get me blasted or removed or blocked or banned from FB, and it’s sure to cost me a few dozen or a few hundred of my 5,000 FB “friend," who decide to remain blind, or are firmly on the other side already.
So be it.

"Americas must realize that self-scrutiny is not treason. Self-examination is not disloyalty."
We seek the truth and let the people know. America will never be destroyed from the outside; it will be destroyed from within. Greed and the love for money are evil. Money is self-destructive when it leads you to believe that you have the power to buy anyone and that you are above the law.
The politics of crime and punishment. You got the money you got the power.
Jeffrey Edward Epstein the Jew billionaire got his connections to political elite and the royalty, with money and underage girls for prostitution, Epstein was convicted of soliciting underage girls for prostitution to entertain his elite friends.
In June 2008, after pleading to a single state charge of soliciting prostitution, Epstein began serving an 18-month sentence. He served 13 months, and upon release he became a registered sex offender. There is widespread controversy and suspicion that Epstein got off ease because his connection to powerful people and his friends in the government
Epstein often had his girls shake hands with celebrities while the girls were in the nude and had surveillance cameras in the rooms, obviously to catch these men having sex with underage girls and then to blackmail them. Mr. Epstein friendship with Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew, The Duke of York and many others elite of the financial system, was about underage sex. This Jew is very smart because now they owe him some favors; his silent will benefit him and our judicial system will do nothing to seek the truth and punish the criminals. 13 month for running an underage prostitution and the cover-up of pedophiles criminals is a disgrace and a judicial precedent, that money will buy impunity for any crimes if you are rich and have the money to buy your freedom.
Who is this Jew Billionaire? Jeffrey Edward Epstein✡ (born 20 January 1953) is a Jewish financier; he worked at Bear Stearns early in his career and subsequently formed his own firm. In 2008, He is a former board member of Rockefeller University, a member of the New York Academy of Sciences, the Trilateral Commission, and the Council on Foreign Relations and a visiting fellow at Harvard University. He is a close-friend of Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of Jewish-swindler Robert Maxwell. Epstein was accused of assaulting and soliciting prostitution from at least 40 different girls aged between 13 and 17. He was convicted for one instance and served a 13-month prison sentence. He is a sociopath and sycophants that believes that he is above the law. He remains under investigation by the FBI over allegations of involvement with a pedophile network, but nothing will be done to seek the truth and justice.
Fellow American, what you stand for? The question is who are worst the criminals that commit the crimes against the American people and humanity or we the people that know what is taken place in our country and do nothing to stop the criminals and remain silent.

(townhall.com) - I have never laughed so bitterly as I did while reading Thursday's lead editorial by the great pretender-defenders of free speech at The New York Times.
Paying obligatory lip service to the 10 cartoonists and staffers of the Paris satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo who were slaughtered for offending Islam, the Times intoned: "It is absurd to suggest that the way to avoid terrorist attacks is to let the terrorists dictate standards in a democracy."
My GPS tracker of journalistic hypocrisy immediately identified the Times editorial board's high-altitude location -- ensconced atop their own Mt. Everest of absurdity and self-unawareness.
The Fishwrap of Record priggishly refuses to print any of the Islam-provoking art that cost the brave French journalists their lives. In case you forgot (as its own editorialists have), the Times cowered in 2005-2006 when the Mohammed Cartoons conflagration first ignited. And the publication is capitulating again.
Behold this groveling bow to terrorists dictating democracy's standards:
"Under Times standards," a newspaper spokesman said in a statement this week, "we do not normally publish images or other material deliberately intended to offend religious sensibilities. After careful consideration, Times editors decided that describing the cartoons in question would give readers sufficient information to understand today's story."
So says the paper that blithely published a Catholic-bashing photo of the Virgin Mary covered in elephant dung and defended the taxpayer-funded "Piss Christ" exhibit thusly: "A museum is obliged to challenge the public as well as to placate it, or else the museum becomes a chamber of attractive ghosts, an institution completely disconnected from art in our time."
While they feign free-speech fortitude, what Times editorialists really don't want to see is their heads completely disconnected from their necks. Neither do editors at The Boston Globe, ABC News, NBC News, MSNBC and CNBC, who won't publish any possibly, remotely upsetting images of Mohammed, either.
But these quivering double-talkers aren't even the most laughable of Cartoon Jihad cowards.
The Associated Press wins the pusillanimity prize after invoking the sensitivity card to explain why it refrained from publishing "deliberately provocative" Mo toons -- even though the media conglomerate had been selling deliberately provocative "Piss Christ" photos on its website. After the Washington Examiner's Tim Carney pointed out the double standards, AP tried to cover its tracks by yanking the pic.
More absurdity? The New York Daily News pixelated a Mo toon carried by Charlie Hebdo as if it were pornography. CNN did the same in 2006, when it explained it was censoring the offending images "in respect for Islam" and "because the network believes its role is to cover the events surrounding the publication of the cartoons while not unnecessarily adding fuel to the controversy itself."
And therein lies the cartoon capitulationists' grand self-delusion. This isn't about cartoons.
Reminder: The First Mo Toons Wars were instigated in 2005 by demagogue imams who toured Egypt stoking hysteria with faked anti-Islam comic strips attributed to the Danish Jyllands-Posten newspaper (whose actual cartoons criticizing Islam were far more innocuous). The real agenda: Islamist thugs were attempting to pressure Denmark over the International Atomic Energy Agency's decision to report Iran to the U.N. Security Council for continuing with its nuclear research program. From Afghanistan to Egypt to Lebanon to Libya, Pakistan, Turkey and in between, hundreds died in insane riots under the pretext of protecting Mohammed from Western slight. Courageous journalists who stood up to the madness were silenced, jailed and threatened with beheading.
Cartoons did not start militant Islam's fire. Neither did the Bushes, Israel, the Satanic Verses, the Pope, beauty pageants, KFC restaurants in the Middle East, Mohammed teddy bears or a YouTube video.
The Religion of Perpetual Outrage hates all infidels for all reasons for all time. The targeting of Mohammed cartoonists is a convenient excuse to feed the eternal flame of radical Islamists' hatred of the West. If it isn't cartoons, it's something else. The grudge is everlasting.
Instead of acknowledging their gutlessness in the face of Koran-inspired Muslim vigilantes, press pontificators cloak their fear in the mumbo-jumbo of "tolerance." They demand that the rest of us pledge fealty to their selective multi-culti sensitivities lest we be branded "Islamophobes."
And then they have the audacity to play "I am free-speech Spartacus" with those who risked life and limb to speak truth to Islamic supremacist power.
Sit down, fakers. You fakin'.

Fahrudin Memic Tim McClellan - you would like to say that you think that 10% of Muslims in the USA are extreme radicals. So in the USA there are some 2.6 millions of Muslims then you expect that 260.000 Muslims in the USA are the extreme Radicals. 260.000 is 5 times or more the number of current ISIL fighters (jihadists) in Iraq. This numbers are very unlikely having in mind the context in the USA where the arms are easily available. But in the USA you have very good Muslim priests (Imams) so you can work with them on public campaign and community campaigns, psychological support campaigns etc...which is rather a very good opportunity. less

Tim McClellan I agree a peaceful negotiation is always the best option. The problems are a large majority of the Mosques (1,400 currently) are prayers in the front and terror in the back. Not that the Iman are condoning it but they also know they will be killed if they expose the radical Muslims. It is a very delicate situation. The biggest problem we have is the enemy within, Obama. He protects them at every turn because he is a Muslim. He will not do anything and that very well may be fatetul to the US. less

Tim McClellan PART TWO: They are nothing more than thugs and we are an extremely well armed and trained country and the sentiment at this time is shoot first, talk second. So if you really want to help, you should be convincing the Imam and others to get these criminals under control before the weight of the world falls on all Muslims. They say history repeats itself and I have made a career out of showing it. When the Germans started WWI, did we ask each Germans if they were good or bad? When Japan attacked Pearl Harbor every Japanese person in the US was thrown into a camp until things died down. Some things just don't change. Tim McClellan, Political Strategist less

Because the two of you have convinced yourself that your foolish point of view is correct, doesn't make it so. Knowledge is power and you clearly have no power. Kamal Ezwan Ibnu Abi Talib They are the true muslim and not. The people doing the killing without reason and making the torture are not muslim teaching. They are astray from the rightous path. Tim McClellan PART ONE:. Kamal, thank you for your thoughtful point of view. I don't think for a second the mass majority of Muslims are "bad" people. I fact, I know them to be very good people. Unfortunately, while it isn't fair people tend to get labeled as a group. That is why I feel the good Muslims are the right people to put an end to this either through negotiations of force. Hopefully not the later. Allah is one God that people pray to and believe in. There are many other Religions that have different beliefs. I feel it is fine for everyone to believe in the God they believe to be the true God. Continued... less

Tim McClellan PART TWO:. I don't however feel anyone have the right to force their beliefs on others either by intimidation of force. Regarding the zionists and the illuminati, there is little evidence that they even exist. I have studied both and can find not proof of either in the 21st century. I will NOT know Islam first, as I will not be forced by you or anyone else to believe in something I don't. You are correct that we can not trust the media. I don't watch TV and I don't read newspapers because it is all biased lies. I report the truth based on the facts as they are for my contacts in almost every country and religions. I then do extensive research to confirm that everything I write is true. less

Tim McClellan Finally, your statement "Allah is only one god we should devoting ourselves." speaks volumes of the problem that you are a part of. It is still ongoing and probably will be for some time. What is your opinion?
“Among the many objects to which a wise and free people find it necessary to direct their attention, that of providing for their safety seems to be the first. The safety of the people doubtless has relation to a great variety of circumstances and considerations, and consequently affords great latitude to those who wish to define it precisely and comprehensively.” –John Jay, Federalist No. 3, 1787
After a violent Islamist took hostages at a Kosher market in France, European police traced the man’s connections across Europe, arresting another man who wanted to buy a car from the jihadi’s wife, and apprehending one more in Germany on suspicion that he had returned from Syria after fighting with ISIL. The investigation came to a head in the Belgium town of Verviers Friday, as Belgium police closed in on a group of jihadis about to launch a terrorist attack in that country. Belgian prosecutor Thierry Werts told reporters after the raid, “This operational cell of about 10 people, some of whom had returned from Syria, was on the point of launching significant terrorist attacks in Belgium. During the search, certain suspects immediately opened fire at special forces of the police with automatic weapons. They opened fire for several minutes. Two suspects were killed and a third was arrested.” CNN now reports there may be 20 such “sleeper cells” across Europe, plotting eminent attacks. Because many of these jihadis are fighters who returned to their home countries after fighting for ISIL in the Middle East. In other words, the fear that ISIL would fragment and take their terror to the West is realized. More…
Pope Francis is no stranger to making waves with what he says, and his pronouncement regarding Islam, the jihadi attack on Charlie Hebdo and free speech is no exception. “One cannot provoke, one cannot insult other people’s faith, one cannot make fun of faith,” the pope declared. “There is a limit. Every religion has its dignity.” We take issue with a couple of things here. Let’s start with “cannot” instead of “shouldn’t.” Certainly, people should be respectful in dialogue and debate, but free speech is a universal right worth defending – even vulgar, unintelligent and pointless speech such as that produced by Charlie Hebdo. More to the point, not all religions have dignity. Any religion that kidnaps girls to deploy them as suicide bombers, that beheads innocent victims, that slaughters playwrights and cartoonists for expressing their beliefs, or that flies airliners into skyscrapers has no dignity.
Duke University prides itself in tolerance. This is probably why the university intolerantly canceleda talk on motherhood in 2010 because the university learned the speakers were pro-life. And then there was the time in 2013 when the open-minded academy kicked Chick-fil-A off campusbecause three people emailed the administration to complain about the restaurant after its CEO declared his support of traditional marriage. On the other hand, the spirit of inclusiveness compelled the university to announce it would broadcast the Muslim 1 p.m. call to prayer every Friday starting Jan. 16. But after the likes of Franklin Graham asked alumni to pull support from the school, the school backed down and announced that Muslim students will only gather in the quad before using the chapel for Friday prayer, sans an amplified call to prayer. Duke Vice President of Government Affairs Michael Schoenfeld told the Associated Press, “Duke remains committed to fostering an inclusive, tolerant and welcoming campus for all of its students. However, it was clear that what was conceived as an effort to unify was not having the intended effect.” The problem for Duke is that they believe some faiths deserve more inclusivity and tolerance than others. Foreign policy guru Leslie Gelb is no conservative – he’s the former assistant secretary of state for Jimmy Carter. Early on, Gelb championed Barack Obama’s administration and the change it brought from the George W. Bush years. But now, the hope has faded. Late to the party, Gelbwrites, “The failure of Obama or Biden to show up in Paris made clear that most of the president’s team can’t be trusted to conduct U.S national security policy and must be replaced – at once. Here’s why America’s failure to be represented at the Paris unity march was so profoundly disturbing. It wasn’t just because President Obama’s or Vice President Biden’s absence was a horrendous gaffe. More than this, it demonstrated beyond argument that the Obama team lacks the basic instincts and judgment necessary to conduct U.S. national security policy in the next two years. It’s simply too dangerous to let Mr. Obama continue as is – with his current team and his way of making decisions. America, its allies, and friends could be heading into one of the most dangerous periods since the height of the Cold War. Mr. Obama will have to excuse most of his inner core, especially in the White House.” But even that won’t be enough if Obama remains his old, stubborn self. Gelb adds, “In the end, making the national security system work comes down to one factor, one man – Barack Obama.” Indeed it does, and that’s why we’re in bad shape until at least 2017. Then again, John Kerry took James Taylor to Franceto sing “You’ve got a friend,” so that should fix it.
Which of these does a better job of dropping a gunman: bullets or beans? Granted, it’s a stupid question, but since when did anti-gun lefties make sense? According to one Alabama school, beans – or any other canned food item – make an excellent self-defense weapon. “As a result of school shootings throughout the United States and discussing with law enforcement on the best procedure to follow to keep our students safe, we are enhancing our procedure for intruders,” explained administrators of W.F. Burns Middle School in a letter to parents. “The procedure will be the same as we have done in the past with the addition of arming our students with a canned food item.” ‘Cause nothing scares a would-be shooter like a flying can of Green Giant green beans. The officials added, “We realize at first this may seem odd” – you don’t say? – “however, it is a practice that would catch an intruder off-guard.” Here’s a better idea: Arm teachers who can quickly and effectively alleviate the threat. Liberals like to talk about “common sense” reforms; that is, unless it involves putting guns in the hands of good guys. More…

The Democrats’ economic platform continues to take shape as this week they take up the cause of paid family and medical leave. It’s all fine sentiment, though someone has to ask: Who pays for it? That’s why it’s savvy politics.
Barack Obama signed a memorandum Thursday guaranteeing six weeks of paid sick leave for federal workers to take care of a new child or an ill family member, even if workers have not accrued that much time off. He went on to claim that workers in the private sector should be afforded the same opportunity.
White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett also pushed for an expansion of paid leave for workers. “The fact is this is not a partisan issue,” she said. “Adopting polices that are good for working families is both good for business and good for workers.”
In a couple of well-crafted sentences, Jarrett took a policy that used to be decided by private sector employers, elevated to it a federal government issue, and arbitrarily decided this is good for business. It’s not, but more on that later. This is a classic leftist maneuver to reframe the economic discussion in a manner that is beneficial to Democrats. By labeling paid sick leave as a “right” rather than a benefit, they can more easily label anyone who opposes their proposal as an ogre who doesn’t care about families.
As always, Democrats are looking to position themselves as champions of the middle class, particularly ahead of the 2016 election. They have the class warfare playbook firmly in hand, and they’re going to run it step by step. Obama’s offer of “free” community college and congressional Democrats' latest income redistribution proposal were just the opening screen pass.
The paid leave proposal has been circulating for months, with Labor Secretary Tom Perez rarely missing an opportunity to mention it. The AFL-CIO is also a big proponent. Both repeatedly use a statistic pulled from an International Labor Organization survey that the U.S. is the only developed country in the world that does not mandate paid maternity leave. Jarrett also noted that 43 million private sector workers in the U.S. do not have any form of paid sick leave.
To read these factoids alone, one would be lead to believe that the U.S. is peppered from coast to coast with sweatshops reminiscent of a Charles Dickens novel. But Perez and Jarrett make no mention of just how many of those workers are part-timers or day laborers who rarely receive such benefits. They also seem to forget that virtually every large employer has these policies in place, and many small businesses prefer to handle long-term absences on a case-by-case basis. Of course, the Obama administration would prefer that freedom came to an end. After all, the federal government knows best.
The push for mandatory paid sick and maternity leave has begun in Congress, too. Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) introduced the Family and Medical Insurance Leave (FAMILY) Act to create a national paid family and medical leave insurance program. The administration also proposes $2 billion in the new budget to help states develop similar programs. Currently only California, New Jersey and Rhode Island offer statewide paid sick leave.
Republicans will be cast as the villains in this battle because they will be the only people to raise the question of how we’re going to pay for it. Like free college, free health care and free wage bonuses, someone somewhere is ultimately going to shoulder the burden for the cost. Ironically, it will likely be the very same middle-class taxpayers the paid leave plan is supposed to benefit.
The National Federation of Independent Businesses panned the proposal. “Our members are opposed to it because of real costs,” said spokesman Jack Mozloom. “And in a philosophical sense, they’re opposed to it because they don’t want the government telling them what to do.” He also noted what should be obvious: When a worker is out due to illness, “The work still has to get done.” In other words, there is a real productivity cost that must be considered.
Democrats have pushed a number of statistics and polls claiming the public is behind them on this issue. With the wind at their backs, they believe they have a political winner. A lot of people supported the latest minimum wage hike too, according to their figures, and look what happened. The federal proposal fizzled and Democrats were crushed at the polls.
The minimum wage is a great example of skewed Democrat economic thinking. James Pethokoukis of the American Enterprise Institute cited a VoxEU study of the impact of the minimum wage in recent years that Democrats would prefer you didn’t see. According to the study, while the minimum wage increased 30% in the late 2000s, it reduced adult employment by 0.7%, amounting to 1.4 million workers, nearly half of whom are age 15-24. The minimum wage raises also reduced average monthly incomes for low-skilled workers by $100 over the first year and $50 over subsequent years. As Republicans stated repeatedly, the effect of a top-down mandate on wages was exactly the opposite as intended.
If you need further proof of the damage Democrat policies have done to American business, you can look at a recent Gallup study pointing out that “business deaths now outnumber business births” for the first time in 35 years. “Until 2008, startups outpaced business failures by about 100,000 per year,” writes Gallup CEO Jim Clifton. “But in the past six years, that number suddenly turned upside down.”
So, while Democrats proudly proclaim a whole list of new “rights” for workers that becomes ever more expensive, the number of businesses that can actually employ those workers continues to shrink. This cannot be a coincidence.
Operation Inherent Resolve launched last fall with the objective of controlling ISIL in both Syria and Iraq through the limited use of force – airstrikes on their strongholds while using coalition forces where possible. There would, however, be no American “boots on the ground,” because Barack Obama stubbornly and politically refused to repeat what he sees as George W. Bush’s greatest error.
Inherent Resolve seems to be having some degree of success in Iraq, where ISIL has been fought to a virtual stalemate after a period last year where it appeared ISIL would be able to march into Baghdad with little resistance. Instead, Kurdish forces have maintained control in the northeastern section of the country while Iraqi troops control much of the rest. The only part of Iraq that seems to be safely in ISIL’s hands is the western frontier bordering Syria.
Since the focus of Inherent Resolve is mostly on Iraq, though, the situation in Syria is deteriorating. While we’ve kept the wolves at bay in the strategic town of Kobani, ISIL has gained ground in Syria to such a degree that around one-third of the nation is considered ISIL territory.
With more and more of the Syrian population under ISIL control, the prospect of recruitment for a push into the major Syrian population centers increases. Tipping the balance toward ISIL also spells trouble for Russian-supported strongman Bashar al-Assad, and could perhaps set off a wider proxy war.
The ISIL expansion is blamed on a lack of “strategic coordination between coalition strikes and moderate forces inside Syria,” said Coalition for a Democratic Syria adviser Mouaz Moustafa, “meaning that the Free Syrian Army and aligned groups cannot use the strikes to retake territory.” Having a safe haven in neighboring Syria also gives ISIL an advantage in Iraq, much as the Taliban was able to use Pakistan as a haven during the American incursion in Afghanistan.
Speaking of Afghanistan, as U.S. forces depart that nation, the influence of ISIL is beginning to show there as well. A renegade general once held at Guantanamo and released in 2007 has surfaced as a leader supporting the nascent ISIL effort in that nation. Mullah Abdul Rauf is reportedly recruiting from the ranks of the Taliban, with skirmishes breaking out between the two sides in Helmand province, which is controlled by the Taliban in their fight against the current Afghan government.
One has to question whether the tactics of Inherent Resolve are succeeding in the face of ISIL’s increasing influence, particularly as their terror spreads to Europe. While al-Qaida in Yemen claimed credit for the Charlie Hebdo attack, a smaller attack in a Paris kosher market andanother incident in Belgium were credited to ISIL sympathizers. It’s a shame that our nation’s resolve went wobbly when the current occupant of the Oval Office came to town, but that’s what leading from behind will do.

British novelist C. S. Lewis (1898-1963): “A little lie is like a little pregnancy: it doesn’t take long before everyone knows.”
Columnist David Limbaugh: “According to Gallup CEO Jim Clifton, for the first time in 35 years, the United States is no longer first but 12th (12th!) among developed nations in business startup activity. More businesses are closing than opening. Four hundred thousand businesses are being born each year in America, but some 470,000 are closing. That’s because America, under this president, is a business-hostile zone. What is President Obama planning on doing about this disturbing problem? Two things. First, he will deny the problem even exists as he continues to fraudulently proclaim that America’s businesses are smoking-hot. Second, he will exacerbate the problem with yet new business-killing, energy-killing lawless executive regulations honoring earth goddess Gaia with an involuntary sacrificial offering from the American energy industry. His regulations will dramatically cut methane emissions over the next decade. Based on his record in office and his continuing with these new regulations, it’s hard to tell whether he’s more motivated by his allegiance to environmental cultism or a visceral aversion to business. Or perhaps those interests are so interlocked that we needn’t quibble over which is dominant on Obama’s priority list. … Isn’t it wonderful to have a pro-business president who is staying so focused on the rising global threat of radical jihad?”
Columnist Michael Reagan: “The leader of what we used to call the Free World has been embarrassing the USA on the world stage for years by not going where he should go – or saying and doing things he shouldn’t when he does go somewhere. Let’s see. If memory serves, he didn’t go to Berlin in 2009 for the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall or to Poland for celebrations of the collapse of Moscow’s evil empire. And though he didn’t skip the 70th anniversary of D-Day last year in Normandy, he spent most of his time during the solemn ceremony chomping on bubble gum like a 12 year old. The French people were irate at the disrespect. It’s not that Monsieur Obama dislikes France. He also stopped in France in 2009 on what became known as his first ‘Apology Tour,’ where he apologized for America’s past ‘bad’ behavior, including being arrogant toward Europe, using the atomic bomb in World War II and trying to unseat communist dictators in Latin American. Meanwhile, the president has found plenty of time to visit other parts of Western Europe when it suited his political or publicity purposes. Remember when he went all the way to Copenhagen just to lobby for Chicago to be chosen to host the 2016 Olympics?”
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel: “Obama is focused now on cyber security. He’s pushing for new laws to protect companies from hackers. And who better to do that than the people who brought us the ObamaCare website? Not only couldn’t hackers get in, no one could penetrate it.”

Police Chief Sam Dotson and Mayor Francis Slay condemned the violence at a Thursday afternoon news conference. They did not identify the suspects in custody, who will be formally charged Friday.
Scott Knopfel, 50, was shot in the head at the Drury hotel near Interstate 44 just before 3 a.m. after he struggled with his assailant while opening a cash drawer. Surveillance video shows the suspect, whom the manager mistook for a patron, entering the hotel and leaving less than 30 seconds later. He can be seen pulling out a handgun and vaulting a counter, then leaving the hotel in the same manner.
Seven homicides within 24 hours is an unusually high number for St. Louis, which has a population of about 320,000 people and recorded 159 homicides in 2014. Dotson and Slay linked the overnight violence to crime increases in the area documented since the fatal Ferguson police shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown more than five months ago in north St. Louis County.
“To see this much violence going on in our city within such a short period of time, it is absolutely outrageous,” Slay said. “It’s out of hand. It disgusts me.” (Read more about the Ferguson violence upswing HERE)

Central Intelligence Agency Director John Brennan consulted the White House before directing agency personnel to sift through a walled-off computer drive being used by the Senate Intelligence Committee to construct its investigation of the agency’s torture program, according to a recently released report by the CIA’s Office of the Inspector General.
The Inspector General’s report, which was completed in July but only released by the agency on Wednesday, reveals that Brennan spoke with White House chief of staff Denis McDonough before CIA employees were ordered to “use whatever means necessary” to determine how certain sensitive internal documents had wound up in Senate investigators’ hands. The conversation with McDonough came after Brennan first issued the directive, but before he reiterated it to a CIA attorney leading the probe.
Brennan’s consultation with McDonough also came before the CIA revealed the search to then-Senate Intelligence Committee chair Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), whose staff was the target of the snooping.
The new information suggesting the White House was aware of — and did not stop — the CIA’s computer snooping is unlikely to improve the existing distrust between Senate committee members and the executive branch. Feinstein has said that the CIA’s computer search likely violated the constitutional separation of powers, an allegation the White House has declined to directly address.
The Oval Office’s prior knowledge of the controversial computer review will no doubt worsen the tensions that have erupted over the matter between the executive branch, its chief intelligence agency and the lawmakers tasked with their oversight. (Read more on how CIA snooped HERE)

Dr. Gary Katz 1st
Mr. Finley has successfully surpassed [by a very wide margin] the now decaying and irrelevant trash NYT. Congratulations, Bill! By the way, I frequently pass along some of Mr. Finley's posts and many of his accurate and pithy introductions and analytical commentary to a group of Prime Ministers, military officials, and people of integrity...from all walks of life. With respect & Appreciation, Dr. Gary Katz
