On Sunday, November 9, I had the honor of speaking at the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ Veterans’ Day Ceremonies in Sierra Madre, California. Pictured is the Veterans Wall in Sierra Madre’s Memorial Park, where the event was held. Hard-Left California Representative Judy Chu was on hand to give awards to several of the veterans, and […]

Important truths enunciated by a courageous Turkish journalist. “The West’s Dangerous Enchantment with Islam: Muslim Women Thrown ‘Under the Bus,’” by Uzay Bulut, Gatestone Institute, November 9, 2014: The loudest voices in the West now seem to come from many progressives who say that criticizing of Islam is racist, intolerant, bigoted and Islamophobic. Robert Spencer in PJ Media: 10 New Signs of Britain’s Impending Demise

My latest in PJ Media, on the ongoing train wreck that is contemporary Britain: Last May, I wrote an article titled “The 5 Latest Signs of Britain’s Imminent Demise.” These were, unfortunately, not anomalies. In Britain these days, galloping toward ruin is a more popular sport than soccer, and so an update is in order. […]

Legend has it that when the Muslims conquered Jerusalem in the year 637, Sophronius, the Patriarch of Jerusalem, invited the caliph Umar to pray in the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Umar declined, explaining that if he did, the Muslims would convert the church into a mosque, as Muslim prayers had been uttered there. Former […]

Boko Haram means “Western education is sin,” or more literally, “Books bad.” The mainstream media has reported on this name as if the group were a bunch of Luddites with AK-47s – people who for some unexplained reason object to modern education and modern technology except for the weaponry. But actually the moniker “Boko Haram” […]

THE FOUNDATION

“Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives.” –John Adams, letter to Benjamin Rush, 1808

Veterans Day 2014

2014-11-11-51d0bc24.jpg

On the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month…

This day is set aside now, in honor of American Patriot Veterans, who have carried the banner of Liberty forward since the first shots at Lexington and Concord. And it is now time for us to deliver this banner to the next generation.

Millions of Patriots – American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coastguardsmen – have for generations honored their oaths to “support and defend” Liberty, as “endowed by our Creator” and enshrined in our Constitution.

Today, and every day, we formally honor them. We remain the proud and the free because they have stood bravely in harm’s way, and millions remain on post today. For this, we, the American People, offer our heartfelt thanks.

“Mighty men of valor, men trained for war, who could handle shield and spear, and whose faces were like the faces of lions.” –1 Chronicles 12:8

“Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn.” –Gen. Douglas MacArthur

“War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” –John Stuart Mill

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” –John 15:12-14

VA Secretary: More Smoke and Mirrors

The former CEO of Procter & Gamble is clearing house and reforming the Department of Veterans Affairs after the wait-time scandal broke this year. VA Secretary Robert McDonald plans to fire up to 1,000 people, hire 28,000 more health care workers, and insists on calling the veterans who come to the VA “customers” as a sign of commitment to them, not the bureaucracy. Of the people who are expected to get the pink slip, “The report we’ve passed up to the Senate Committee and House Committee, has about 35 names on it. I’ve got another report that has over 1,000,” McDonald said. “We’re simplistically talking about people who violated our values.” And of those values, McDonald continued, “It’s integrity, it’s advocacy, it’s respect, it’s excellence. These are the things that we try to do for our veterans.” This is obviously smoke and mirrors. If Barack Obama was really interested in veterans' health, he would not have pulled out of Iraq without a SOFA ahead of his 2012 election. More…

FBI: Crime Rates Are Down, Gun Ownership Up

The FBI released its report on the crime statistics for 2013. It was a good year for guns and a bad year for criminals. “[T]he estimated number of violent crimes in 2013 decreased 4.4 percent when compared with 2012 figures, and the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.1 percent,” the FBI wrote. “There were an estimated 1,163,146 violent crimes reported to law enforcement last year, along with an estimated 8,632,512 property crimes.” This happened as law-abiding Americans underwent 21,093,000 background checks to purchase firearms last year. The public is also increasingly accepting of firearms. More guns, less crime. Liberty and personal responsibility for the win. More…

‘Net Neutrality’ Gets Obama’s Vote

In January, the DC Circuit Court struck down the FCC’s so-called “net neutrality” rules as being beyond the scope of the agency’s authority. Undeterred, the FCC in May proposed new rules, tweaked to comport with the court ruling. Now, Barack Obama is inserting himself into the debate. The New York Times reports, “Obama urged the Federal Communications Commission to adopt the strictest set of neutrality rules possible and to treat consumer broadband service as a public utility, similar to telephone or power companies.” Obama declared, “We cannot allow Internet service providers to restrict the best access or to pick winners and losers in the online marketplace for services and ideas.” In other words, he wants to be the one to pick winners and losers. Two things: Obama doesn’t have the authority over the FCC, which is independent, though his bullying may still influence things. And second, his involvement likely poisons the well for debate in Congress on a measure to reach a compromise because he’s clearly aiming to please his leftist base. More…

ObamaCare Author: ‘Stupid American Voters’

We don’t know what’s more worrying – that one of the authors of ObamaCare admitted he lied to the American people, or that he doesn’t care because, self-government be damned, he knew what was best for the country. In newly uncovered video, MIT professor Jonathan Gruber told an audience at the University of Pennsylvania last year the “Affordable” Care Act had to be written in a way that obscured what the bill was actually about because that was the only way it could have passed. “Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage,” he said. “And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass.” This political strategy has been the trademark political move of the Obama administration. They hide information and then call political enemies stupid. Meanwhile, when the video of Gruber’s comments started to gain traction in the Right media, the university took the video down. So much for the free flow of ideas in the ivory tower. More…

HHS Lowers ObamaCare Expectations

New enrollment estimates from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) illustrate the degree to which ObamaCare is underperforming. The Hill reports, “HHS, which previously declined to project 2015 sign-ups, said that between 9 million and 9.9 million people are expected to participate in the exchanges in 2015. The figure was less than the [Congressional Budget Office’s] projection of 13 million for 2015 enrollment, raising questions about the exchanges' performance, compared with expectations.” As it stands now, roughly 7.1 million Americans are considered officially enrolled, meaning HHS expects only between two and three million additional customers next year. The CBO anticipated a collective 25 million by 2017. Clearly, there’s work to do. Nevertheless, health officials touted HHS’s “important and significant” estimate and defended the slow start with the usual plea to give the system more time. Considering that insurance premiums are going up because of ObamaCare, more time won’t solve this problem. Bottom line: Consumers aren’t buying what the government is selling. More…

RIGHT ANALYSIS

ObamaCare’s Built-in Road Hazard

2014-03-14-2d28b9cb.jpg

ObamaCare is headed back to the Supreme Court, and some court watchers are hoping this case could be the deathblow to the falsely named Affordable Care Act. The case is King v. Burwell, and at issue is whether the federal government has the right to offer subsidies to purchase health insurance through the federal exchange.

The original letter of the ObamaCare law states in plain English that health insurance subsidies would be available only to people who purchase coverage through state-run exchanges. To put it generously, this was meant as a carrot to encourage states to create their own exchanges. When 36 states opted out of becoming cogs of federal machinery, instead relying on the feds to set up the exchange in their states, the IRS stepped in and declared subsidies would apply to allexchanges, including the federal one.

It’s easy to see why the Obama administration enacted this arbitrary reinterpretation of a clearly worded statute. Without taxpayer-supported subsidies, many individuals and families would not be able to afford to purchase this so-called affordable insurance. The employer mandate would also no longer carry weight in those 36 states. The exchanges would collapse and ObamaCare’s house of cards with it. But that’s no excuse for the IRS or any other agency to just make up new rules without congressional input. And that’s why King v. Burwell is headed to the Supreme Court.

Hard as it is to believe, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the administration’s lawlessness. The administration lost a similar case, Halbig v. Burwell, before a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, though the full court later decided to rehear it en banc. That makes the Supreme Court’s decision to take the case especially surprising because there is technically no circuit court split.

Writing for National Review Online, former Bush administration Justice Department official John Yoo expressed optimism that the High Court will rule correctly. Yoo points out, “If the Court agreed with the lower courts, or wasn’t sure about it, they could have just allowed the issue to further percolate.” Furthermore, he wrote, “The grant of certiorari (which only takes four Justices) only makes sense if a majority wants to overrule the lower courts quickly.”

Playing the guessing game of what the Supreme Court will do in any given case isn’t for the faint of heart. Many people thought ObamaCare would be struck down two years ago, only to discover that Chief Justice John Roberts had practically rewritten the law to keep it alive.

If, in their majority wisdom, the Supremes do strike down the taxpayer-funded subsidy, all sorts of things could happen.

For starters, millions of Americans will lose their subsidies, making insurance far more expensive. Many will wind up uninsured. Beyond that, the employer mandate in 36 states would essentially become null and void. The currently delayed mandate requires employers with 50 or more employees to cover insurance should one of those employees purchase insurance with subsidies. No subsidies means no trigger for the employer mandate. Left in that situation, businesses would flock to the 36 states without exchanges to avoid being subject to the mandate, likely leading to the downfall of the mandate as a whole.

The individual mandate would also lose its teeth. One of the exemptions from being compelled to purchase insurance is if there are no affordable options available. Without subsidies, more Americans become exempt from the mandate. Insurance markets would be affected because the compulsory pool of purchasers would dry up.

On the flip side of all this is the fact that if the subsidy rule is struck down there may be intensified pressure for states to set up exchanges – particularly those run by Republican governors who have so far been able to stand against the expansion of ObamaCare while still receiving taxpayer support from Washington in the form of benefits for their citizens.

Still, a Supreme Court rejection of the IRS’s expansion of subsidies will likely stir the repeal debate. Now that Republicans control both chambers of Congress, they have the opportunity to dive deeply into extensive rewrites of the law, or push harder for outright repeal. They may find support among Democrats for some of these things, as ObamaCare was one of the many reasons they suffered such a drubbing at the polls last week. Indeed, as we predicted, it became a lightning rod.

Now, it’s all up to the Supreme Court to, in a paraphrase of Nancy Pelosi, find out what’s actually in the law.

Courting Iran Is a Bad Idea

2014-11-11-c045aaf6.jpg

Recent reports indicate that Barack Obama fully intends to continue making bad foreign policy decisions. He has already miscalculated on Russia, the Islamic State and Iran. Specifically in dealing with Iran, the administration appears to be busy crafting a major blunder.

The United States and Iran recently held secret meetings to discuss the future of diplomatic relations between the two nations. There is speculation of a new U.S. trade office opening in Tehran – which would be the first diplomatic mission in the Islamic Republic since 1979, when it was overrun during Jimmy Carter’s presidency. Recall that his foreign policy failure resulted in a hostage crisis.

As expected, U.S. officials deny this report. But how believable is this administration?

Obama declared during an interview with CBS on Sunday that there is still a “big gap” in nuclear negotiations with Iran and that we may not reach a permanent agreement before the Nov. 24 deadline. Yet something stinks here, especially since it came to light that Obama had written a secret letter to Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei arguing the U.S. and Iran have shared interests in fighting ISIL.

Shared interests? Iran has been and continues to be one of the largest state sponsors of terrorism in the world. A recent Pentagon report reveals that “Iran continues to provide ‘calibrated aid to the Taliban’ in Afghanistan to help the group conduct attacks on U.S. and Western security forces operating in the country.” Iran does not share our interests in Afghanistan – on the contrary, the Pentagon says Iran wants to “expand its sphere of influence” and minimize “Western presence and influence.” After all, in Iran’s eyes, the U.S. is the “Great Satan.”

The United States is fighting terrorism while the radical regime in Iran is funding it. Yet Obama wishes to see Iran partner with America to fight against ISIL. Just how would this idea play out in our favor?

Iran’s opposition to the United States in Afghanistan alone should rule out any cooperation, but recall that this administration is desperate for help in fighting ISIL since Obama has tied our hands with his “no boots on the ground” promise.

Obama reportedly stated in his letter to Khamenei that a nuclear agreement could enable U.S-Iranian cooperation against ISIL. By this, Obama apparently means Iran can carry out its nuclear ambitions on condition of helping us fight. Making such concessions is more proof that Obama operates on foolish hope rather than reality.

Yet there is more bad news. Recent information from the National Council of Resistance of Iran, an Iranian opposition group that has exposed Iran’s clandestine nuclear activities in the past, reveals that “a second device could be hidden at Iran’s Parchin military complex, or at some other site somewhere in Iran.” Further, the opposition group’s leader stated, “Today’s information uncovers a simple truth: The clerical regime is ceaselessly and secretly forging ahead with the military dimensions of its nuclear program and has no intention whatsoever of abandoning that program.”

It’s time for Obama to wake up to the reality of the threat posed by a terrorist-supporting Iranian regime with nuclear capability. The survival of our greatest ally Israel is at stake, not to mention our own interests in the region. Short-sighted goals like hoping for help from an enemy to fight our enemy won’t further our long-term objectives.

OPINION IN BRIEF

Canadian-American journalist Isabel Paterson (1886-1961): “Most of the harm in the world is done by good people, and not by accident, lapse, or omission. It is the result of their deliberate actions, long persevered in, which they hold to be motivated by high ideals toward virtuous ends.”

Columnist Thomas Sowell: “Pundits who depict Obama as a weak, lame duck president may be greatly misjudging him, as they have so often in the past. Despite the Republican sweep of elections across the country last week, President Obama has issued an ultimatum to Congress, to either pass the kind of immigration law he wants before the end of this year or he will issue Executive Orders changing the country’s immigration laws unilaterally. Does that sound like a lame duck president? On the contrary, it sounds more like some banana republic’s dictator. … People who are increasingly questioning Barack Obama’s competence are continuing to ignore the alternative possibility that his fundamental values and imperatives are different from theirs. You cannot tell whether someone is failing or succeeding without knowing what they are trying to do. … The big question is whether the other branches of government – Congress and the Supreme Court – can stop him from doing irreparable damage to America in his last two years. Seeing Obama as an incompetent and weak, lame duck president only makes that task harder.”

Comment | Share

Columnist Dennis Prager: “Since last Tuesday’s elections, commentator after commentator on the left has declared American politics ‘dysfunctional.’ When Democrats win by a landslide, the left regards the vote as testimony to the great message of the left and the good sense of the American people. Only when Republicans win by a landslide does the vote reflect dysfunction. … There is one incontrovertible proof that all this talk about the election’s being about a dysfunctional Congress – in the president’s words ‘a sign that the American public wanted politicians to work together to get things done’ – is, to put it nicely, phony. That proof is the state elections. People don’t vote for their governor or for their state assemblies because of how they feel about Washington and its alleged dysfunction. Yet the Democrats were trounced in state after state elections, including some of the most liberal states.”

Comment | Share

Comedian Argus Hamilton: “Obama shrugged off his party’s loss of the Senate and said he still plans to enact changes by executive order. He blamed the Democrats' election losses on low voter turnout. Statistics reveal that last Tuesday, most of the usually reliable Democratic base stayed in their graves.”

Your prophetic time of accountability

The day after the election, I suggested that Americans need to put "Accountability Teams" together in every political district to hold those who were elected accountable to those who elected them. As a demonstration, I emailed each member of the elected Republican leadership in Congress and the Senate reminding them that Americans did not elect them to find common ground with the "president," but rather to repeal his bad government. I only heard back from one of them and it was a form letter thanking me for my support. This is why we each need to hold accountable those for whom we voted. We cannot say we have done our job and now let the hirelings handle the rest. The enemy remains at the gate.

CNSNews reported the day after the election: "Senators Cory Gardner (R-Colo.), David Perdue (R-Ga.), Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), and Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) all ran on a platform of repealing Obamacare." Yet within hours, Mitch McConnell, who is expected to be elected as Senate Majority Leader, signaled that he wanted to find common ground with the "president." House Speaker John Boehner said, "My job is to listen to the American public. And they've made it clear that they don't want Obamacare." Then he said he wanted to repeal "parts" of the socialist law.

So which is it, Mr. Speaker? We said we don't want socialist health care. On the same day you said that Americans have made it clear that we don't want it, that your job is to listen to the American people, AND that you wanted to repeal parts of socialist health care. If you had three sides to your mouth, you would be talking from each side. In part, I applaud what you are saying, but I won't believe you until you do it. As a bar keep's son, you should know quite well the old saying, "Talk is cheap. It takes money to buy whiskey." The Bible says in James 1:8, "A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways." Now many may think I am being harsh, but this is just one small example of how these people do business. Take heed.

The Senators and Representatives were voted in because We the People are rejecting the "president" and his party's agenda. This is not a Republican mandate, it is a change mandate. We the People are rebuilding our nation. As is in Nehemiah 4:16-17, "And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah. They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon." We must watch over those we elected as we rebuild. Form Accountability Teams among your friends and hold these politicians accountable.

President Obama did something extraordinary, perhaps unprecedented, in his news conference immediately after the midterm elections: He claimed a mandate on behalf of voters who didn’t vote.

“To everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you,” the president said. “To the two-thirds of voters who chose not to participate in the process yesterday, I hear you, too.”

What did that mean? What did those non-voters say?

It would probably be more useful to ask what the president heard. And apparently Obama heard expressions of support from non-voters across the land.

The president explained that many more voters turned out when he was elected, and then re-elected, than in the midterms that left Republicans firmly in control of the House and Senate. “One of the things that I’m very proud of in 2008 and 2012, when I ran for office, was we got people involved who hadn’t been involved before,” Obama said. “Part of what I also think we’ve got to look at is that two-thirds of people who were eligible to vote just didn’t vote.”

A career attorney with top ratings at Immigration and Customs Enforcement says that she faced retaliation from superiors for refusing to drop cases pending against illegal aliens guilty of DUI, identity theft, and other crimes.

Patricia Vroom, 59, made the claims in a lawsuit filed last week in U.S. District Court of Appeals in Arizona against Department of Homeland Security Sec. Jeh Johnson.

The Daily Caller obtained a copy of the complaint.

Vroom, who has worked for ICE and its predecessor for 26 years, alleges that in Feb. 2013 she was contacted by ICE deputy director Sarah Hartnett and was “instructed to look favorably for prosecutorial discretion on immigration removal cases involving the lowest level of felony convictions for identity theft under Arizona law.”

“This was a very significant development,” the suit claims. Criminal aliens are generally considered “‘priority cases’ that should be aggressively pursued.”

Meet Jonathan Gruber, a professor at MIT and an architect of Obamacare. During a panel event last year about how the legislation passed, turning over a sixth of the U.S. economy to the government, Gruber admitted that the Obama administration went through “tortuous” measures to keep the facts about the legislation from the American people, including covering up the redistribution of wealth from the healthy to the sick in the legislation that Obamacare is in fact a tax. The video of his comments just recently surfaced ahead of the second open enrollment period for Obamacare at Healthcare.gov.

“You can’t do it political, you just literally cannot do it. Transparent financing and also transparent spending. I mean, this bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes the bill dies. Okay? So it’s written to do that,” Gruber said. “In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in, you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical to get for the thing to pass. Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.”

Veterans Day is the day on which we thank and honor those who serve and have served in the military. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are 21.8 million military vets in the U.S. Over 1.3 million of those served during multiple wars–837,000 in both Gulf War eras, 211,000 in both the Korean War and Vietnam era and 147,000 in World War II and Korea. There were 49,500 who served in both the Vietnam War and both Gulf War eras and 54,000 who served during the Korean War, Vietnam War and World War II.

President Ronald Reagan understood the huge sacrifice those who serve make and one of his noteworthy speeches honoring military veterans took place on the 40th anniversary of D-Day. The ceremony took place on the northern coast of France, on the spot where Allied soldiers had stormed ashore to liberate Europe from the Nazis–at the site of the U.S. Ranger Monument at Pointe du Hoc.

Gathered together at this event were D-Day veterans and world leaders, including Queen Elizabeth II (UK), King Olav V (Norway), Queen Beatrix (The Netherlands), King Baudouin I (Belgium), Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau (Canada) and Grand Duke Jean (Luxembourg).

The following is an excerpt from that address:

We stand on a lonely, windswept point on the northern shore of France. The air is soft, but 40 years ago at this moment, the air was dense with smoke and the cries of men, and the air was filled with the crack of rifle fire and the roar of cannon. At dawn, on the morning of the 6th of June, 1944, 225 Rangers jumped off the British landing craft and ran to the bottom of these cliffs. Their mission was one of the most difficult and daring of the invasion: to climb these sheer and desolate cliffs and take out the enemy guns. The Allies had been told that some of the mightiest of these guns were here and they would be trained on the beaches to stop the Allied advance.

My lead flight attendant came to me and said, ‘We have an H.R. on this flight’. H.R. stands for human remains.

‘Are they military?’ I asked. ‘Yes’, she said. ‘Is there an escort?’ I asked. ‘Yes, I already assigned him a seat’.

Would you please tell him to come to the flight deck. You can board him early’, I said.

A short while later, a young army sergeant entered the flight deck. He was the image of the perfectly dressed soldier. He introduced himself and I asked him about his soldier. The escorts of these fallen soldiers talk about them as if they are still alive and still with us.

My soldier is on his way back to Virginia ‘, he said. He proceeded to answer my questions, but offered no words on his own. I asked him if there was anything I could do for him and he said no. I told him that he had the toughest job in the military and that I appreciated the work that he does for the families of our fallen soldiers. The first officer and I got up out of our seats to shake his hand. He left the flight deck to find his seat.

We completed our preflight checks, pushed back and performed an uneventful departure. About 30 minutes into our flight I received a call from the lead flight attendant in the cabin. ‘I just found out the family of the soldier we are carrying, is on board’, he said. He then proceeded to tell me that the father, mother, wife and 2-year old daughter were escorting their son, husband, and father home. The family was upset because they were unable to see the container that the soldier was in before we left. We were on our way to a major hub at which the family was going to wait four hours for the connecting flight home to Virginia . The father of the soldier told the flight attendant that knowing his son was below him in the cargo compartment and being unable to see him was too much for him and the family to bear.

He had asked the flight attendant if there was anything that could be done to allow them to see him upon our arrival. The family wanted to be outside by the cargo door to watch the soldier being taken off the airplane. I could hear the desperation in the flight attendants voice when he asked me if there was anything I could do. ‘I’m on it’, I said. I told him that I would get back to him.

Airborne communication with my company normally occurs in the form of e-mail like messages. I decided to bypass this system and contact my flight dispatcher directly on a secondary radio. There is a radio operator in the operations control center who connects you to the telephone of the dispatcher. I was in direct contact with the dispatcher. I explained the situation I had onboard with the family and what it was the family wanted. He said he understood and that he would get back to me.

Two hours went by and I had not heard from the dispatcher. We were going to get busy soon and I needed to know what to tell the family. I sent a text message asking for an update. I saved the return message from the dispatcher and this following is the text:

‘Captain, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. There is policy on this now and I had to check on a few things. Upon your arrival a dedicated escort team will meet the aircraft. The team will escort the family to the ramp and planeside. A van will be used to load the remains with a secondary van for the family. The family will be taken to their departure area and escorted into the terminal where the remains can be seen on the ramp. It is a private area for the family only. When the connecting aircraft arrives, the family will be escorted onto the ramp and planeside to watch the remains being loaded for the final leg home. Captain, most of us here in flight control are veterans. Please pass our condolences on to the family. Thanks.’

I sent a message back telling flight control thanks for a good job. I printed out the message and gave it to the lead flight attendant to pass on to the father. The lead flight attendant was very thankful and told me, ‘You have no idea how much this will mean to them.’ Things started getting busy for the descent, approach and landing.

After landing, we cleared the runway and taxied to the ramp area. The ramp is huge with 15 gates on either side of the alleyway. It is always a busy area with aircraft maneuvering every which way to enter and exit. When we entered the ramp and checked in with the ramp controller, we were told that all traffic was being held for us.

‘There is a team in place to meet the aircraft’, we were told. It looked like it was all coming together, then I realized that once we turned the seat belt sign off, everyone would stand up at once and delay the family from getting off the airplane. As we approached our gate, I asked the copilot to tell the ramp controller we were going to stop short of the gate to make an announcement to the passengers. He did that and the ramp controller said, ‘Take your time.’

I stopped the aircraft and set the parking brake. I pushed the public address button and said, ‘Ladies and gentleman, this is your Captain speaking. I have stopped short of our gate to make a special announcement. We have a passenger on board who deserves our honor and respect. His name is private XXXXXX, a soldier who recently lost his life. Private XXXXXX is under your feet in the cargo hold. Escorting him today is Army Sergeant XXXXXXX. Also, on board are his father, mother, wife, and daughter. Your entire flight crew is asking for all passengers to remain in their seats to allow the family to exit the aircraft first. Thank you.’

We continued the turn to the gate, came to a stop and started our shutdown procedures. A couple of minutes later I opened the cockpit door. I found the two forward flight attendants crying, something you just do not see. I was told that after we came to a stop, every passenger on the aircraft stayed in their seats, waiting for the family to exit the aircraft. When the family got up and gathered their things, a passenger slowly started to clap his hands. Moments later more passengers joined in and soon the entire aircraft was clapping. Words of ‘God Bless You’, I’m sorry, thank you, be proud, and other kind words were uttered to the family as they made their way down the aisle and out of the airplane. They were escorted down to the ramp to finally be with their loved one.

Many of the passengers disembarking thanked me for the announcement I had made. They were just words, I told them, I could say them over and over again, but nothing I say will bring back that brave soldier.

I respectfully ask that all of you reflect on this event and the sacrifices that millions of our men and women have made to ensure our freedom and safety in these United States of America.

Fellow Americans, we love our country, and to day and always we will honor all our soldiers that give their lives and the ones that are wounded physically and psychologically because of the wars.

Our soldiers were exposed to all these wars under the pretense of defending our country from the evil terrorist of the middle east; our government lie and fabricated the motives to send our soldiers to die for control of the middle east oil and to benefit the corporations; today most Americans know that the wars was all about the oil and all the wars are the work and fabrication of the US government.

Fellow Americans today is the time to say no more wars and stop the killings, these wars are the work of this evil government that is in power, they are sycophants criminals that only us can stop by exposing their crimes and prosecute them for war crimes, violation of their oath, violation of our constitution, the rule of law and treason; they must pay for their crimes.

George W. Bush, his administration and all the ones that took part in the planning, collaboration, execution, cover up and use this violation of the people’s rights, the constitution and the rule of law as a precedent to continue violating the constitution and the laws of this country must be prosecuted and put in jail. Not one is above the law in our country. We must correct this wrong and not excuse should be used to justified, Bush and Obama’s war crimes against the American people and humanity.

We must take action and stop these evil sycophant’s criminals, from sending our soldiers to illegal wars to protect the interest of the US corporations, the Neocon predator’s globalist elite. We will die for our country any time, but we must refuse to be part of this criminal enterprise that is in control of our country and had transformed our country into the most corrupt country of the world, the killers without conscience or remorse, perpetrators of crimes against the American people and humanity. We have all the money for the provocation of wars and reward the criminals that supported and participate in this evil war but we do not have money to take care our soldiers that were send to fight these illegal wars, that are in need of medical attention; we do not have money to care our own people, create jobs and get people out of poverty. Our government has not morals, principles or values and they must be stop.  This is our duty to honor the ones that died believing that they were fighting for our country and stop the continuation of these evil wars; we must demand the return of all our soldiers, no more US soldiers should die to protect the interest of the US predator corporate system. We must protect the American families that suffered the loss of their sons and Daughters in these evil wars and give our soldiers the best medical care; our soldiers give everything for nothing and were force to an illegal war and order to kill innocent people, now they have to live forever for doing the killing for the ones that do not have the cojones to do it themselves, it is easy to send good people to do their dirty work when they have the power, we give them the power and it is our job to take it back. Expose the criminals and prosecute them in the name of God almighty, justice and humanity.

Liberals…Stupid to the Core Voter

By Craig Andresen- The National Patriot and Right Side Patriots on cprworldwidemedia.com

stup-1.jpg?width=205Ok liberals and socialists…you can’t say we didn’t try to tell you because…we DID tell you. We told you and told you and told you some more but, did you listen?

Nope.

Not only did you not listen…you said we were some

sort of special kind of terrorists for even bringing it up.

You called us every name in the book and even after all of that…we told you again.

Now we have the proof that we were right then and right now…the only way you could support Obamacare was if you were either a socialist or just plain stupid…we’ll leave the option up to you but…you’re one of the two.

For the proof of this we can now turn directly to one of the Obamacare architects…one Jonathan Gruber who, at a conference almost a month ago made the marketing plan of Obamacare clear to everyone.

What he said came as no surprise at all to Conservatives who had this all figured out way ahead of the game but should come as a slap upside the head to those who, to this day, continue to applaud Obamacare as the greatest thing ever.

YOU…are STUPID and the architects OF Obamacare, those who WROTE the damn thing…were COUNTING on it.

Here’s Gruber…

Supreme Court to Tackle ObamaCare Again

The Supreme Court agreed Friday to hear the ObamaCare case involving subsidies on the federal exchange. According to the letter of the law, only state exchanges can offer customers premium subsidies. Since 36 states opted not to set up an exchange, however, the Obama administration decided unilaterally to allow buyers on the federal exchange at Healthcare.gov to have access to those same subsidies. The issue of subsidies is critical because they are the only way much of the American public can afford to comply with the stringent requirements and onerous fees of the so-called “Affordable” Care Act. If the subsidy provisions are gutted, ObamaCare’s house of cards collapses. Arguments will be heard in the spring of 2015, with a decision likely in June. A three-judge panel of the DC Circuit Court already ruled correctly, but the court’s leftists also agreed to an en banc rehearing, so it’s curious the justices are basically nullifying that case. Technically, the court is taking up the challenge heard by the Fourth Circuit Court, but it’s the same legal argument. Will the Roberts Court finally get it right on one of the worst laws this nation has ever seen? If not, how in the world will they save the law from itself this time? More…

AG Nominee a Politically Safe Bet

The White House named Loretta Lynch, the U.S. attorney that handles cases in Brooklyn, Long Island and Queens, as Eric Holder’s replacement for attorney general Saturday. Obama’s pick is political because of how apolitical it is. The Senate unanimously confirmed Lynch twice before to different positions. And Republican senators Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham say they don’t see much of a problem with Lynch in the AG spot. This likely forces the GOP to do Obama’s bidding in this nomination. At the White House, Lynch said, “The Department of Justice is the only Cabinet Department named for an ideal. And this is actually appropriate, because our work is both aspirational, and grounded in gritty reality.” Unlike her predecessor, let’s hope Lynch doesn’t equate “aspirational” and “gritty reality” to dirty politics. Still, we’re not holding our breath. More…

1,500 More American ‘Boots on the Ground’

In September, Barack Obama made a non-committal commitment to fight ISIL in Iraq without U.S. troops being involved in any fighting. “American forces will not have a combat mission – we will not get dragged into another ground war in Iraq,” he insisted. “It will not involve American combat troops fighting on foreign soil.” So how’s that going? Well, now he says, “As commander in chief, I’m never going to say never.” The New York Times reports, “President Obama has authorized the deployment of an additional 1,500 American troops to Iraq in the coming months, doubling the number of Americans meant to train and advise Iraqi and Kurdish forces. The trainers and advisers are to help Iraqis and Kurds as they plan a major offensive expected next spring against Islamic State fighters who have poured into Iraq from Syria.” Granted, these *are" “trainers and advisers,” not combat troops, but what happens if the fight comes to them? Additionally, the Times notes, “White House budget officials said they would ask Congress for $5 billion for military operations in the Middle East against the Islamic State, including $1.6 billion to train and equip Iraqi troops.” Obama’s clearly trying to clean up the mess he created without admitting he was dead wrong about abandoning Iraq in 2011. More…

Obama Makes Immigration Offer GOP Can’t Refuse

The minute Congress passes immigration reform, Barack Obama will gladly sign the bill and it will be the law of the land, according to his latest political offer. The bill will have more authority than Obama could ever muster, he says. But the offer is too good to be true. “I’m going to do what I can do through executive action,” Obama said. “It’s not going to be everything that needs to get done. And it will take time to put that in place. And in the interim, the minute they pass a bill that addresses the problems of immigration reform, I will sign it, and it supersedes whatever actions I take. … If in fact a bill gets passed, nobody is going to be happier than me to sign it because that means it will be permanent, not temporary.” But this move, giving up power and influence, is so unlike Obama. National Review’s Rich Lowry says Obama’s move is essentially blackmail. As if to further provoke, Obama added cynically, “[N]obody is stopping them.” More…

Obama Vows To Make Washington ‘Work Better’

On CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Barack Obama said the election emboldened him to continue his political strategy to govern without Congress. “The buck stops right here, at my desk,” Obamatold Bob Schieffer. “So whenever, as head of the party, it doesn’t do well, I’ve got to take responsibility for it. The message that I took from this election … is people want to see this city work. And they feel as if it’s not working. … So I’ve got to make this city work better for them.” But later, he admitted, “[C]ampaigning and governance are two different things. … When you start governing, there is a tendency sometimes for me to start thinking, as long as I get the policy right then that’s what should matter. And people have asked, ‘What do you need to do differently going forward?’ And I think you do that gut check after every election.” Obama has made his gut check – this election was a referendum on the way he did policies, not the policies themselves. The buck never stops with him.

RIGHT ANALYSIS

Reid’s Run of Destruction

2014-02-28-c2585515.jpg

Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) broke character after the wave Republican election victory with a conciliatory statement to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who will be the new sheriff in town come January. Reid said, “I’d like to congratulate Sen. McConnell, who will be the new Senate majority leader. The message from voters is clear: They want us to work together.” Oh, now let’s get along.

Reid’s plea for comity after his iron-fisted rule is laughable to the point of tears. As for his take on the message voters sent, well, he was going to put whatever spin on it he needed to save face.

The real message from the voters on Tuesday was that Americans are fed up with Democrats' big-government experiment. After six years of Obama in the White House and eight years of Reid’s mob controlling the Senate, it’s abundantly clear that leftist government doesn’t work. Of course, the cold, hard facts of history have proved this time and again, but people have to learn at their own pace.

Reid’s statement does not in any way indicate we will now see a kinder, gentler man from Nevada. At age 75, this lifetime politician has always had a reputation for being rude and downright miserable. Being humiliated on such a historic scope is unlikely to teach this old dog new tricks.

Since assuming the leadership when Democrats took the Senate in 2006, Reid almost singlehandedly poisoned what was once an august governing body. The Senate was designed by the Founders to be a deliberative chamber, where slow, reasoned debate and special rules and measures would counterbalance the simple majority rule of the House. Senators didn’t lose power simply by being in the minority. Procedure would keep the machinery of republican government humming, but at a reasonable pace to keep the majority party from running roughshod over the country and jamming an unsupported agenda down the nation’s collective throat.

With the full support of Barack Obama, Reid set out to change all that.

Reid’s single biggest destructive act was evoking the so-called nuclear option – eliminating the filibuster from Senate voting procedures for most nominations. Upset at Republicans blocking activist liberal judicial nominees, Reid yanked the filibuster out of the rulebook in November 2013 in order to get Obama’s nominees a series of up-and-down votes. McConnell likened the action to Obama’s famous lie about ObamaCare: “[Reid] might just as well have said, ‘If you like the rules of the Senate, you can keep them.’”

The hypocrisy was astounding, and it wasn’t lost on midterm voters. In 2005, Senate Democrats, then in the minority, brought the chamber to a standstill to block a number of George W. Bush’s judicial nominees. When talk of the nuclear option surfaced at the time, then-Sen. Barack Obama said, “The talk of the ‘nuclear option’ is more about power than fairness.” Then-Sen. Joe Biden added, “The nuclear option is ultimately an example of the arrogance of power.” What a difference being in the majority can have on your view of fairness and power.

It’s unclear if McConnell will restore the filibuster – especially when many Senate Republicans are eager to give Reid a dose of his own medicine. Sen. Orin Hatch (R-UT), who called Reid a “pathetic majority leader,” wrote, “To restore the [filibuster] rule now, after Mr. Obama has installed his controversial judges, would cement a part of some double standard: when Democrats controlled the White House and Senate, judicial nominations need only 50 votes; but when Republicans control both, judicial nominees require 60 votes, allowing Democratic minorities to block Republican nominations.” Hatch declared that now is no time to “unilaterally disarm.”

Reid has personally insulted Republicans in front of reporters, baselessly accused them of corruption, and buried hundreds of perfectly good bills that came from the House simply because they were Republican bills. His one-man war against the Koch brothers was another sign of just how vindictive Reid can be – to the point of assaulting First Amendment rights.

Reid’s office is confident he will be elected minority leader for the next congressional term. He did receive public support from Senate Democrat leadership and many members, but that was before Tuesday’s pounding. He has fallen in line with many key Democrats in drumming up excuses for their losses – racist Americans, dumb Americans, poor voter turnout (lazy Americans), and so forth. At this point, though, no Democrat senator has come forward and publicly blamed Reid or challenged him for the leadership.

McConnell could put pressure on Dems to get rid of Reid by freezing them out of the committee process or squeezing them in other procedural ways; essentially falling back on tactics that Reid used with impunity. McConnell could lock things up until Dems get their house in order, but that could be a dangerous move. The Republicans won their big victory Tuesday not so much because they had broad public support, but because Democrats had completely squandered their own support. Any moves that smack of Reid-style politics could anger voters further. And there’s a White House to win in 2016.

For now, it looks like Reid might remain with us, but if he has to hold any position of power in the Senate, minority leader sure has a nice ring to it.

Republicans Can Upend the Democrat Race Narrative

2014-08-20-ab0b3dee_feature.jpg

Many realities utterly anathema to Democrats' divide-and-conquer strategy for winning elections revealed themselves last Tuesday. Yet perhaps the one that threatens their future far more than any other is the reality that, for the first time in decades, the Democrat race narrative is starting to crumble. Suddenly, black America’s invariably reliable allegiance to their party is in play.

What more and more black Americans may now be realizing is the party they’ve hitched their wagon to for five-plus decades is still telling them things have barely changed for the better, if they have changed at all – and that maybe, just maybe, 50 years of unquestioning allegiance producing virtually no improvement means it’s time for a change.

R > D = America Wins

2014-11-10-a90a5e20_feature.jpg

The only one refusing to accept the voters' full-throated rejection of the failed leftist policies of the Democrats is Barack Obama. But with this welcomed new equation, what will the GOP do?

In developing strategy, more than mere mechanics are involved. The strategy of the GOP majorities must be to enact the will of the American people. And the elected Republicans of the House and Senate would do well by answering a few questions.

OPINION IN BRIEF

The Gipper: “Today we did what we had to do. They counted on America to be passive. They counted wrong.”

Columnist Peggy Noonan: “It is confounding – not surprising but stunning, unhelpful and ill-judged – that the president is … going for antagonism, combat and fruitless friction. This is not just poor strategy, it seems to me to be mildly delusional. Chris Matthews erupted on MSNBC: ‘There’s something in this guy that just plays to his constituency and acts like there’s no other world out there!’ That’s true. And deeply strange in a politician. It’s as if he doesn’t think he has to work with others, he only has to be right. I think Mr. Obama sees himself as a centrist because he often resists the pressures of the leftward-most edge of his base. Therefore in his imagination he is in the middle, the center. If he is in the middle of a great centrist nation, how can they turn on him? The answer: They are confused. This is their flaw, not his. He’s not going to let their logical flaws change his game. … The president here is doing what he has been doing for a while, helping Republicans look good. That is an amazing strategy for a Democratic president to adopt.”

Columnist Larry Kudlow: “Here’s a stunning question and answer from Edison Research, which interviewed 18,000 voters around the country as they left the polls on Nov. 4: Do you think Hillary Clinton would make a good president? Yes: 42 percent. No: 52 percent. Whether she’s the frontrunner or not, a majority of midterm-election voters don’t want her running the country.* … But here’s the kicker – my absolute favorite: In the 2016 presidential election, for whom would you be more likely to vote? Hillary Clinton (Dem): 24 percent. The Republican candidate: 40 percent. That’s right. The yet-to-be-named Republican beats Hillary. I guess she shouldn’t have said businesses don’t create jobs. Or maybe voters remember her Russian reset with Putin, her calling Bashar Assad a ‘reformer’ we can do business with, or her ‘who cares’ exclamation about how the U.S. base in Benghazi was destroyed. Or maybe the old Bill Clinton magic is not rubbing off anymore. But the fact is, the exit polls say Ole Hillary would lose to a Republican no-name. And at the margin, Tuesday’s election has probably re-scrambled the Republican deck.”

The "I"s have it, or not...really

The occupant of the Oval Office said on the day after his policies and administration were rejected overwhelmingly by the American people, "So, to everyone who voted, I want you to know that I hear you.  To the two-thirds of voters who chose not to participate in the process yesterday, I hear you, too." He must have meant that those who didn't vote spoke louder than those who did. To him, it appears that those who did not vote were the clearer majority, who actually did not drive to a polling place to cast a vote against him vicariously by voting out his representatives in Congress. In a 75 minute news conference the day after the election, the "president" used the word "I" or derivatives of it, and "me," some 340 times.

Here are some excerpts from his remarks: "So the fact is I still believe in what I said when I was first elected six years ago last night...I'm the guy who's elected by everybody, not just from a particular state or a particular district.  And they want me to push hard to close some of these divisions, break through some of the gridlock, and get stuff done.  So the most important thing I can do is just get stuff done, and help Congress get some things done...The key is to find areas where the agenda that I've put forward, one that I believe will help strengthen the middle class and create more ladders of opportunity into the middle class..

"...Republicans disagree. They're not going to support those ideas.  But I'm going to keep on arguing for them because I think they're the right thing for the country to do. ....if there are ideas that the Republicans have that I have confidence will make things better for ordinary Americans, the fact that the Republicans suggesting it as opposed to a Democrat, that will be irrelevant to me....we're going to take whatever lawful actions that I can take...I've shown a lot of patience and have tried to work on a bipartisan basis as much as possible, and I'm going to keep on doing so.  But in the meantime, let's figure out what we can do lawfully through executive actions to improve the functioning of the existing system."

The "president" doesn't get it. His policies were rejected. We the People don't want anymore "I" the "president." He clearly said that if the Republican leadership does not go along with him, he will issue executive orders to advance his agenda because he's the guy who is elected by "everybody." In an October 17, 2013 White House statement regarding the budget shutdown, the "president" said, "You don't like a particular policy or a particular president? Then argue for your position. Go out there and win an election." We did, but to him, it makes no difference. Ephesians 5:6 says, "Let no man deceive you with vain words." Indeed, his words are empty, but only if we hold accountable those whom we elected.

Obama should have gotten this idea on his own. It should have been done long ago. Indeed, I have long recommended that there be no U.S. aid for any country that oppresses women and non-Muslims, denies the freedom of speech and the freedom of conscience, etc. But even now, Obama will pay no attention to […]

Britain’s rapid national suicide is the stuff of tragedy, but with stories like these, it is edging into farce. Here is a glimpse of Great Britain’s future, and that of all the countries whose leaders confidently and repeatedly assure us that Islamic jihad terrorism has nothing to do with Islam. DEMOCRATIC DOMINATION OF COAL COUNTRY OVER?

Share

train cars in coalIt sure seems that way to Politico after the midterm elections. The writing has been on the wall since the Democratic Party nominated and elected a President who declared that his energy policies would “bankrupt” coal operators in a 2008 interview, but the cycle didn’t complete itself until after Barack Obama’s EPA began to pursue those policies in earnest. What used to be the heart of Democratic working-class union strength has now flipped entirely red, and probably permanently:

The Republicans’ romp this week may have permanently turned coal country from blue to red.

Coal-heavy districts in West Virginia, Kentucky and Illinois that had been steadily moving away from Democrats in recent elections appear to have completed that shift Tuesday, when they overwhelmingly backed Republicans who vowed to oppose what they call President Barack Obama’s “war on coal.” …

In West Virginia, once a long-time Democratic stronghold, Republicans will take control of both houses of the state legislature for the first time since 1931. Republicans picked up seven seats in the state Senate to bring the balance to 17-17, and then Democrat Daniel Hall switched parties Wednesday to give the majority to the GOP.

Voters there also elected Rep. Shelley Moore Capito as their first GOP senator in 56 years, and Republicans won three congressional contests, even kicking out 38-year incumbent Rep. Nick Rahall.

Sergeant Manny E. Vega, after the midterm election Tuesday night, takes the news to President Obama on the steps of the White House. Armed with a megaphone, Vega exercises his First Amendment right and calls out Obama–and does so for about an hour, according to Mad World News.

Vega, a Marine and now a member of the Patriot Militia, has spent nine years in the Marine Corps and has been deployed to Iraq three different times.

Sgt. Vega says Obama should just leave his office and pursue golfing instead of his presidency and repeatedly asks for his resignation. He even goes into a speech about Obama’s birth certificate, which he doesn’t believe to be authentic.

"Americas must realize that self-scrutiny is not treason. Self-examination is not disloyalty."

Seek the truth and expose and prosecute corruption. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/350358.Who_Will_Tell_The_People

Open letter to the Republican politicians of this United States:

We the people have work hard to place you in office to represent the people. This is your opportunity to correct all the wrong done by the Bush and Obama administration and avoid a revolution in our country; the people have enough of the Washington culture of corruption and the blank disregard for the rule of law and moral leadership and authority in our country. Our country has been run by a small army of political sycophants that believe that the end justified the means, and through a system of corruption, lies, deception and betrayal have transformed our nation into the most corrupt country in the world. The world’s predator, killers without values and remorse that kill our own people to get what they want.

Our Judicial system, under Alberto Gonzales and Eric Holder give the Bush and Obama administration the ill tools to kill thousands including our own soldiers in illegal unlawful wars, promoted by lies and deception and supported by the news media that fail to expose the truth and avoid this crime against humanity.

We all know now that the wars are all about the control of the Arab oil reserve; and the wars and the so call war on terrorism are made by the United States under the Bush and the Obama administration. We ask The Republican Party to restore in our US Government, moral leadership, values and most important our US Constitution, the rule of law and our God given rights to freedom and liberty; We voted for you and we expect that you serve the people.

We have some political and corporate criminals that the Bush and Obama administration have given amnesty and impunity for crimes committed against the US people and humanity. This United States was founded under the rule of law and justice for all, no man is above the law in our country and we all must answer for our crimes and actions and no man have the power to give impunity to anyone for crimes committed against the people. Any person that believe that he got the power to dictate who will be prosecute and who will be protected and given impunity is guilty of violating their oath, our constitution and the rule of law and most important the trust of the people in our government, because if we cannot trust in our own government why do we have a government in the first place. American wants a government by the people and for the people. Please do not betray the people, avoid a revolution, the people will not be suppress by government corruption.

Your agenda is simple and should be an agenda to restore the people trust in our government.

We want for you to take the following actions.

1-     Prosecute Eric Holder

2-     Prosecute George W. Bush for crimes committed against the American people

3-     Impeach Barack Obama for failure to stop the wars and expose the war crimes committed by the Bush administration and used the Bush administration foreign policies to continue the war crimes.

4-     Prosecute the director of the NSA, CIA, FBI, Home land Security, The Bush administration, the Obama administration, The IRS and the Director of the FDA.
