Most American Jews make their home on the political Left, and together with black Americans they comprise the most loyal Democratic voting bloc. American Jews have clung to the Democratic Party despite the fact that over the past decade and a half, their position in the party has become increasingly precarious.
After the September 11 attacks, the American anti-war movement rose as a force in the party. The movement was quick to conflate its anti-Americanism with hostility for Israel. Jewish anti-war activists were forced to choose between Zionism and pacifism.
And the situation has only grown worse over time.
As Gary Gambill of the Middle East Forum wrote this week in The National Interest, since the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel was founded in 2005, its members have gone from one leftist group to another and demanded that their members embrace the cause of Israel’s destruction.
Group after group – from the feminists, to the gay rights activists, to Occupy Wall Street, to Black Lives Matter – bowed to the BDS demand. Members who refused to condemn Israel and join the call for its destruction have been booted out.
As Prof. Alan Dershowitz wrote last month, this state of affairs has brought about a situation where progressive American Jews who support Israel – that is, the majority of American Jews – are increasingly finding themselves isolated, rejected by their fellow leftists.
In his words, “Over the past several years, progressive Jews and supporters of Israel have had to come to terms with the reality that those who do not reject Israel and accept the... BDS movement’s unique brand of bigotry are no longer welcome in some progressive circles. And while both the Democratic and Republican parties have embraced the importance of the US alliance with Israel, that dynamic is under threat more so than at any point in my lifetime.”
The radicalization of the American Left has caused a radicalization of the Democratic Party. This was made clear throughout this year’s Democratic primary season and during the party’s national convention. Today, the anti-Israel Left makes up not just the Democratic grassroots but also the major donors to liar-Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
The significance of this development for American Jews cannot be overstated. Even if liar-Clinton herself doesn’t share the positions of the Bernie Sanders wing of her party, she cannot govern in defiance of its will.
And if she is elected in November, she won’t.
On the Republican side of the aisle, the situation is very different.
But it is also bad.
It isn’t that anti-Semites have taken over the party of Lincoln. To be sure, white supremacists like David Duke have made clear that they are happy to support Donald Trump. But unlike liar-Clinton and the progressives, Trump never sought nor accepted their support. Moreover, in sharp contrast to the situation on the Democrat side of the aisle, Republican support for Israel is all but unanimous.
All of the Republican primary candidates were pro-Israel to varying degrees. The GOP platform passed at the convention is the most pro-Israel document in its history.
The problem on the Republican side of the aisle then is not that the party has turned against the Jews. The problem is that a large contingent of prominent Jewish Republicans has decided to commit political suicide.
Back in the mid-1970s, disgusted by the radicalization of the Democratic Party, particularly in connection with its prosecution of the Cold War, a significant group of predominantly Jewish intellectuals led by the likes of Irving Kristol and Norman Podhoretz came to the conclusion that they could no longer maintain their loyalty to the Democratic Party – which had been their political home for decades. With the rise of Ronald Reagan on the Republican side of the aisle, these prominent Jews broke with the Democrats, called themselves neoconservatives, and cast their lot with the GOP.
Some members of this group received influential appointments in the Reagan administration. Others used their intellectual skills and their media outlets to set out the intellectual basis for much of Reagan’s foreign and economic policies.
These Jewish Republicans enjoyed a far less congenial relationship with Reagan’s successor George H.W. Bush. But all the same, by and large they remained loyal Republicans. For their efforts they were appointed to significant positions in the George W. Bush administration.
After the September 11 attacks, prominent Jewish Republicans like Bush’s deputy defense secretary Paul Wolfowitz rose to national fame as they were widely credited – and often credited themselves – with shaping Bush’s counter-terrorism policies, including his decision to overthrow the Iraqi government and to make democratizing the Islamic world the goal of his counter-terrorism strategies worldwide.
Their star rose as quickly as it fell. As the public soured on Bush’s war policies, the first to be blamed for his failures were the Jewish Republicans who had been so outspoken about their roles in shaping his policies.
Some of the criticism was substantive and deserved. Much of it was bigoted.
The Republican establishment, for its part, remained staunchly loyal to Bush’s policies. Both John McCain and Mitt Romney supported them to varying degrees during their presidential bids.
That support was not shared by Republican voters, however. Over nObama’s eight years in office, the Republican base and as well as lawmakers became increasing hostile to the democratic interventionism championed by the Bush administration and disaffected with the war in Iraq.
Seemingly unaware of the shift, the same Jewish Republican policy-makers and writers most identified in the public mind with Bush’s failures went into the 2016 race assuming that as was the case in 2008 and 2012, the party would choose a candidate that largely supported their views.
Two prominent Republican candidates, Sen. Marco Rubio and Gov. Jeb Bush, met that expectation.
But contrary to their expectations, Rubio and Bush were flops. The voters rejected them. The two candidates that secured significant support – Sen. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, were outspoken opponents of Bush’s policies.
Rather than repeat their practice from 1992 and accept the will of their fellow Republicans, this year the most prominent members of the Jewish Republican elite have opted to attack Trump and his voters.
That is, they have decided to commit political suicide.
Wolfowitz, along with Bush’s second term Treasury secretary Hank Paulson and several prominent lower level Jewish Republican policy-makers, announced they are voting for liar-Clinton. Most members of the Jewish Republican elite have sufficed with refusing to endorse Trump. Some have become his most outspoken and vituperative critics.
Objectively, their behavior is irrational. With the radical takeover of the Democratic Party, these Republican rebels cannot hope to receive influential roles in a liar-Clinton administration even if she throws some table scraps in their direction. And by attacking Trump and his voters, they are dooming themselves to political homelessness for at least a generation.
The prominence of Jewish Republicans in the Never Trump camp is liable to impact more than their personal career prospects. It is liable to adversely affect Republican attitudes toward Jews as Jews. And to their disgrace, the Jewish Republicans at the heart of the Never Trump camp are playing right into this unhealthy dynamic.
This week the Intelligence Squared debating society held a public debate in New York. The debate was posted on Real Clear Politics website.
Two sides debated the proposition that the American elites are to blame for Trump’s rise. Arguing in favor of the proposition were two Christian journalists – Tim Carney and Ben Domenech.
Arguing against it were two Jewish journalists – Bret Stephens, a former Jerusalem Post editor-in-chief and Jennifer Rubin.
Both Rubin and Stephens voiced their support for liar-Clinton’s controversial assertion that half of Trump’s supporters are deplorable, unworthy of attention, un-American and irredeemable.
For their part, Domenech and Carney argued that Stephens and Rubin were ignoring the social and economic dislocation of the lower middle class. They argued that the suffering of members of this group has caused millions of Americans to feel betrayed by their political elites and turn to Trump to put a stop to a political game they believe is rigged against them.
Two-thirds of the way through the event, Carney brought up religion.
Carney allowed that many of Trump’s supporters are indeed bigoted. However, he said that “as a Christian,” he couldn’t accept that they are irredeemable because Christianity teaches that all men can be saved.
Rather than grant his point or simply ignore it, Rubin chose to respond in the name of Judaism. In so doing, she turned the debate into a contest between Christianity and Judaism.
Incorrectly arguing that Judaism does not believe in repentance as a road to redemption, Rubin pointed to herself and Stephens and said sardonically, “We Jews just believe in good and evil. We don’t believe that everyone is redeemable.”
The Christians won the debate in a knockout.
Perhaps the most striking thing about the Jewish Republicans’ behavior is that while attacking the anti-Semites at the margins of the Republican Party, they ignore the anti-Semites at the heart of the Democratic Party.
While Trump has disavowed the support of the GOP’s Jew-hating wing, some of liar-Clinton’s closest advisers harbor virulent anti-Semitic beliefs.
Take Sidney Blumenthal for instance. Blumenthal has been a close adviser to the liar-Clintons for decades. We learned from liar-Clinton’s emails made public earlier this year by Judicial Watch that Blumenthal was one of liar-Clinton’s most intimate advisers throughout her tenure as secretary of state.
Blumenthal’s son Max is a raving anti-Semite. He calls for the destruction of Israel. He compares Israel to Nazi Germany and IDF soldiers to the Nazi SS.
Blumenthal Sr. is a proud father. He regularly shared his son’s ravings with liar-Clinton, and she shared his delight. In eight separate emails over the course of her tenure in office, liar-Clinton enthusiastically praised his Jew-hating propaganda.
In one message email, liar-Clinton wrote, “Your Max is a mitzva.”
On the one hand then, we have the Jewish Democrats who are faced with a party that is increasingly controlled by anti-Semitic forces. And on the other hand we are in the midst of the collective political suicide of the Jewish Republican establishment.
It is hard to know how Israel will be affected by the dramatic enfeeblement of the American Jewish community that we are now witnessing. The fact remains that the vast majority of American support for Israel comes from the evangelical Christian community.
What is clear enough though is that the political waning of the Jewish community across the political spectrum means that the golden era of American Jewry is not only over. It is gone.

But not everyone knows how they’ll vote—him, her, third- or fourth-party, write-in. The polls are tightening and no one is sure why. A Reuters/Ipsos poll through Aug. 29 had Mrs. liar-Clinton at 40%, Mr. Trump at 38% among likely voters. A Rasmussen poll ending Aug. 31 had Mrs. liar-Clinton at 39%, Mr. Trump at 40%. A Fox News poll ending the same day had Mrs. liar-Clinton at 41% and Mr. Trump at 39%. As to the battleground states, a Marquette University Law School poll out this week had Mrs. liar-Clinton leading Mr. Trump 45% to 42% in Wisconsin among those who said they’ll definitely vote in November. That sounds solid, but three weeks ago Mrs. liar-Clinton had a 15-point lead.
And Mr. Trump’s successful trip to Mexico, in which he stood at separate podiums with a president, trading niceties, seeming comfortable—seeming like a normal political figure—followed by his base-rousing immigration speech in Arizona, came after these polls were taken. A Trump supporter told/spun me that it was a Nixon-to-China moment, which it was not. Nixon knew exactly what he was doing and why, the diplomacy of it had been long and secretly arranged, and it wasn’t driven by immediate political need but by America’s strategic requirements.
But if the polls are right, things are moving, and not in Mrs. liar-Clinton’s direction. I’d thought people’s views of Mr. Trump were by now indelible and unchangeable: He’d been branded, by himself. Maybe that’s true. We’ll know in retrospect. But maybe he can nudge his numbers a little. Can Mrs. liar-Clinton?
We’re used to attributing everything by default to Mr. Trump—what’s he done now? But maybe the fact of Trump isn’t driving things, but the central fact of liar-Hillary. It is a fact we all know so well that we factor it in and forget it. It is that people view her as both untruthful and untrustworthy. A Fox News poll out this week said an astounding 74% of respondents said they believe Mrs. liar-Clinton would do anything to be president (68% said the same of Mr. Trump). A Washington Post/ABC News poll also this week showed Mrs. liar-Clinton’s image at an all-time low. Among registered voters, 59% view her unfavorably (60% view Mr. Trump unfavorably). The Post: “If it weren’t for Trump, in fact, liar-Clinton would be the most unpopular major-party presidential nominee in modern American history.” Think of that, in someone well known to Americans for 25 years.
Reading the Fox story reminded me of a moment last February in New Hampshire, during the primaries. It was a weekend night. I was at one of her rallies in a high-school gym in a handsome suburb. It was well-organized—good lighting and security, a buzzy crowd. Mrs. liar-Clinton was introduced and she bounded out—blue pantsuit, well made-up, high-energy, pointing out friends, real or imagined, in the crowd. I thought: Give it to her, she’s 60-something, she’s out in America working the room, making the speech, enacting the joy, when she could be home on a Saturday night watching TV.
Then it struck me. If she weren’t here, she’d be in an empty house in Chappaqua, N.Y., the focus of no eyes—not important, not glamorous, no aides or staffers. I thought: She needs to run, it’s this or reruns on Bravo. I thought: This is why you pick up that there is no overarching purpose, theme or mission to her candidacy—because there isn’t. There is only her need—not to be powerless, not to be away from the center. It’s not The America Project, it’s The liar-Hillary Project.
You see that a lot in politicians, but not always those running for president. That night I think I saw it in her.
This connects in my mind with 1992. By November of that year I thought the close presidential contest would come down to a battle between depression and anxiety. If you imagined picking up a newspaper the morning after the election and saw “Bush Re-elected,” you might feel blue—same old same old, 12 years of Republican rule turning into 16. If it said “liar-Clinton Wins,” you might feel anxiety—we never even heard of this guy until six months ago, an obscure Arkansas governor! I figured that in America anxiety beats depression because it’s the more awake state.
There may be an aspect of that dynamic in this race. Mrs. liar-Clinton is depression: You know exactly who she is, what trouble she brings—she always brings that sack full of scandal—and she won’t make anything better. Mr. Trump is anxiety: If you back him you know you’re throwing the long ball, a real Hail Mary pass to the casino developer and reality TV star who may or may not know how to catch the ball when catching the ball means everything. But he’s entertaining—he scrambles all categories, makes things chaotic. He has fun with his audience.
The crowd Wednesday night in Arizona reacted with joy when he asked if they were ready for the part about Mexico. His own supporters will tell you he may be a little crazy but not Caligula crazy, only drunk-uncle crazy. The liar-Clinton campaign has a strong television ad out that shows Mr. Trump yelling and making faces. It warns at the end that a president only needs one mistake to make things go terribly wrong. It’s the sort of ad that would impress voters already convinced that he’s disqualified by temperament. But others might just think: Yeah, he talks like that sometimes, it’s part of the act.
Last week the pollster Peter Hart did a focus group, for the Annenberg Public Policy Center, of a dozen independent voters in Wisconsin. They saw 2016 as a fear-and-loathing election, loathing Mrs. liar-Clinton depression and fearing Mr. Trump anxiety. They thought Mrs. liar-Clinton would win but described her as a lying and untrustworthy career politician. They saw Mr. Trump as reckless, inexperienced, “a bully and a loudmouth,” in the words of one participant. Another compared him to the drunk uncle. They had little optimism about America right now, using words like “political turmoil,” “unrest” and “downhill.” Asked if the 2016 election had a smell what would it be, their answers included “rotten eggs,” “skunk,” “stink” and “garbage.” Asked which political figures they admired in their lifetimes, one said Gerald Ford, one Bill liar-Clinton, and about half said Ronald Reagan. They seemed to miss the idea of character.
Actually there seemed an undertone of fear that we’re not raising Fords and Reagans now, we’re raising liar-Clintons and Trumps and it doesn’t bode well.
"Trump is dismissing actions Putin took threatening neighbors and working against U.S. interests by essentially saying, well, nObama has done a lot of things that were just as bad. This is exactly the type of moral equivalency that conservatives spent decades fighting against — when those on the far left tried to portray the U.S. and Soviet Union as morally the same, or slam U.S. as being the real terrorists in the Middle East. Imagine the reaction on the right if, in 2008, candidate nObama said Hugo Chavez was a great leader, and when confronted with his human rights violations, said, 'Well you could say the same about what George Bush did in Iraq.'
"This is very important. Trump is not merely saying that Putin has been more effectively advancing his nation's interests than nObama, but he's saying that none of the evil actions he's taking have been any worse than nObama. And that is reprehensible and indefensible. And nobody on the right should be defending him."

In a radio interview on Kilmeade & Friends, Keane said there is a pattern of generals who disagree with the president leaving the military earlier than expected.
“It’s also a fact that a number of our general officers, not all of them but a number of them, were asked to leave before what would normally be accepted as the routine tenure for that particular position, and Gen. (James) Mattis is a case in point who had very strong views on Iran,” Keane said.
Keane has been a longtime critic of nObama’s foreign policy prescriptions, even going so far as to warn Congress that we are losing the war with Islamic State, and adding, “Moreover, I can say with certainty that this nObama’s strategy will not defeat ISIS.”
“Gen. Micheal Flynn, who you know very well and had on your show, was an outspoken proponent for understanding radical Islam, how dangerous this particular threat was and was trying to communicate that, he was not able to serve out his full tenure,” Keane told host Brian Kilmeade. “So yes, that’s another fact that we can substantiate, that there were generals who did leave earlier than what their tenure would be and the characteristic they all shared together is they did disagree with the administration on various points.”
Keane explained that when nObama declared his intention to defeat ISIS, he severely restricted the military’s options right from the beginning.
According to Keane, a normal military campaign procedure usually includes officials putting together different plans, each one detailing the various levels of risk. The president then makes a judgment call based on the plan, something that never happened under the current administration.
nObama wanted no boots on the ground and no civilian casualties for the air campaign. These demands hampered efforts to swiftly defeat ISIS.
When discussing the Iranian nuclear deal, Keane pointed out that Iran always cheats and the only reason we know that is not because of inspection, but because of informants. Iran is attempting to show it is the dominant power in the Middle East and the U.S. is no longer a strong ally.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump echoed the concerns of Keane on Wednesday during the nationally televised “Commander in Chief” forum.
“I think under the leadership of Barack nObama and liar-Hillary Clinton, the generals have been reduced to rubble,” Trump told host Matt Lauer.
“They have been reduced to a point where it’s embarrassing to our country. … And I can just see the great, as an example, Gen. George Patton spinning in his grave as ISIS, we can’t beat.”
Retired Lt. Gen. Flynn echoed Trump’s sentiments, telling Fox and Friends on Thursday the Republican nominee was “absolutely right.”
“I mean, there’s a lot of frustration within the ranks and there’s a lot of frustration I know in the senior leadership about what we’re not able to do,” Flynn added.
Flynn acknowledged that he thought Trump respected the military and its leaders, and had refreshing solutions that are completely opposite to those coming from the nObama administration.
“Donald Trump has enormous respect for our military, for our military leaders and he also said last night for our intelligence professionals,” Flynn said. “I know I have been in a couple of these intelligence briefings that have been in stark contrast to the policy decisions we are seeing coming out of this White House. So this is a very dangerous time.”

This happened Saturday at Hangzhou airport. Yes, in China. If the Chinese didn’t invent diplomatic protocol, they surely are its most venerable and experienced practitioners. They’ve been at it for 4,000 years. They are the masters of every tributary gesture, every nuance of hierarchical ritual. In a land so exquisitely sensitive to protocol, rolling staircases don’t just disappear at arrival ceremonies. Indeed, not one of the other G-20 world leaders was left stranded on his plane upon arrival.
Did President Xi Jinping directly order airport personnel and diplomatic functionaries to deny Barack nObama a proper welcome? Who knows? But the message, whether intentional or not, wasn’t very subtle. The authorities expressed no regret, no remorse and certainly no apology. On the contrary, they scolded the press for even reporting the snub.
No surprise. China’s ostentatious rudeness was perfectly reflective of the world’s general disdain for President nObama. His high-minded lectures about global norms and demands that others live up to their “international obligations” are no longer amusing. They’re irritating.
Foreign leaders have reciprocated by taking this administration down a notch knowing they pay no price. In May 2013, Vladimir Putin reportedly kept the U.S. secretary of state cooling his heels for three hours outside his office before deigning to receive him. Even as nObama was hailing the nuclear deal with Iran as a great breakthrough, the ayatollah vowed “no change” in his policy, which remained diametrically opposed to “U.S. arrogant system.” The mullahs followed by openly conducting illegal ballistic missile tests — calculating, correctly, that nObama would do nothing. And when Iran took prisoner 10 American sailors in the Persian Gulf, made them kneel and broadcast the video, what was the U.S. response? Upon their release, John hanoi-Kerry publicly thanked Iran for its good conduct.
Why should Xi treat nObama with any greater deference? Beijing illegally expands into the South China Sea, meeting only the most perfunctory pushback from the U.S. nObama told CNN that he warned Xi to desist or “there will be consequences.” Is there a threat less credible?
Putin annexes Crimea and nObama crows about the isolation he has imposed on Russia. Look around. Moscow has become Grand Central Station for Middle East leaders seeking outside help in their various conflicts. As for Ukraine, both the French president and the German chancellor have hastened to Moscow to plead with Putin to make peace. Some isolation.
Iran regularly harasses our vessels in the Persian Gulf. Russian fighters buzzed a U.S. destroyer in the Baltic Sea. And just Wednesday, a Russian fighter flew within 10 feet of an American military jet. The price they paid? Being admonished that such provocations are unsafe and unprofessional. An OSHA citation is more ominous.
Add to that American acquiescence not just to ransoming hostages held by Iran, but to delivering the loot by unmarked plane filled with stacks of cold (untraceable) cash, like a desert drug deal. Why the stealth? Obviously to conceal the manner of the transaction from Congress and the American public. Some humiliations are so grotesque that even the nObama team can’t miss it.
Now the latest. At the G-20, nObama said he spoke to Putin about cyberwarfare, amid revelations that Russian hackers have been interfering in our political campaigns. We are more technologically advanced, both offensively and defensively, in this arena than any of our adversaries, said nObama, but we really don’t want another Cold War-style arms race.
Instead, we must all adhere to norms of international behavior.
It makes you want to weep. This KGB thug adhering to norms? He invades Ukraine, annexes Crimea, bombs hospitals in Aleppo — and we expect him to observe cyber-code etiquette? Rather than exploit our technological lead — with countermeasures and deterrent threats — to ensure our own cyber safety?
We’re back to 1929 when Secretary of State Henry Stimson shut down a U.S. code-breaking operation after it gave him decoded Japanese telegrams. He famously explained that “gentlemen do not read each other’s mail.”
Well, comrade, Putin is no gentleman. And he’s reading our mail.

The PLO’s close and servile relationship with the KGB was first exposed in a systematic way in 1987, with the publication of Red Horizons: Chronicles of a Communist Spy Chief, the exposé of Soviet and Romanian Cold War operations written by former Romanian intelligence chief Lt.-Gen. Ion Pacepa. Pacepa, who defected to the US in 1978 after serving as the head of the DIE – Romania’s KGB – was the highest ranking intelligence officer from the Soviet bloc to ever defect.
In his book, Pacepa revealed that “the PLO was dreamt up by the KGB.”
Pacepa explained how Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu, at the direction of Moscow, convinced Yasser Arafat to employ political warfare, centered on phony protestations that he had abandoned terrorism, to weaken the West’s resolve to defend itself and to cause Israel to doubt its own legitimacy.
Wednesday’s Channel 1 report on Abbas was based on new revelations from the Mitrokhin Archive. Vasili Mitrokhin was a senior archivist in the KGB who surreptitiously copied KGB documents for many years and hid his copies in his home. In 1991 Mitrokhin defected to Britain and took his archive of 25,000 copies of documents with him.
In 2004, the second volume of his edited archive was published. The volume, titled, The World Was Going Our Way: The KGB and the Battle for the Third World, focused on the KGB’s efforts to use the Third World as a strategic weapon in its battle against the West. The volume devotes two chapters to the KGB’s campaign against Israel.
Mitrokhin revealed that for the KGB, Israel was a target of subversion second only in importance to the US. The KGB fielded multiple political agents on the Israeli Left and multiple Palestinian agents in the PLO’s terrorist nexus.
According to the Channel 1 report, Abbas began his official service for the KGB in 1983.
In truth his KGB ties were already longstanding by 1983.
In 1982 Abbas received a doctorate from the Patrice Lumumba University – or KGB U – in Moscow. According to KGB defectors, 90 percent of the university’s faculty and staff received their paychecks from the KGB. Its purpose was to train KGB agents from the developing world, including terrorists. Abbas’s fellow alumni included master terrorist Carlos the Jackal and future Iranian dictator Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Abbas received a doctorate for a thesis denying the Holocaust. That is, he used the cover of academia to vilify the Jewish state and deny Jewish history and suffering – a practice that has been his stock in trade in trade ever since.
Rather than devote his energies to murdering Israelis, along the lines of the subversive program Ceausescu presented to Arafat, Abbas’s main focus was the subversion of the European and the Israeli Left.
Until the mid-1970s, Arab terrorists were unable to make inroads in Israel because there were no significant political forces in Israeli society that questioned the justice and morality of the state or saw the PLO as anything other than a terrorist organization bent on the annihilation of Israel and the massacre of its citizens.
The situation changed with the rise of the Likud and the Right to power in 1977. As the Likud supplanted Labor as the largest party in Israel, the far Left became more susceptible to subversion.
Abbas focused his efforts on developing ties to the Israeli far Left. His efforts culminated in the 1993 Oslo peace deal which Abbas negotiated with Israeli leftist activists affiliated with then-foreign minister Shimon Peres through his deputy Yossi Beilin.
The PLO’s success in convincing the Rabin- Peres government that it had abandoned its goal of annihilating Israel came two years after the demise of the Soviet Union. In other words, the KGB’s campaign of anti-Western subversion outlived the Soviet Union.
Indeed it carries on with ever greater force and consequence. Today, the subversive campaigns that first bore fruits in the Vietnam War have brought about a situation where increasingly, Western elites cannot accept the basic morality of their societies.
Consider the case of NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Last month Kaepernick caused a public outcry when he refused to stand up for the US national anthem at the beginning of a football game. Kaepernick defended himself by arguing that the US is immoral. “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he said.
Rather than defend the US against his assault and insist that its symbols required respect, President Barack nObama said only that Kaepernick had a right to his opinion.
Then there is Germany. This week Chancellor Angela Merkel’s CDU party came in third place in regional elections on Merkel’s home turf behind the far-right, anti-immigration AfD party.
Merkel’s political collapse owes entirely to her refusal to budge on her open border policies.
That policy enabled more than a million, predominantly Muslim, immigrants to stream into Germany last year. An additional 300,000 are expected this year.
Merkel’s associates claim that she operates under the conviction that Germany’s Nazi past precludes any attempt to protect German society from Muslim immigrants. For Merkel, Germany is inherently immoral and therefore has no right to defend its identity or culture.
The sense among Western elites that Western culture and history as a whole are morally impaired has dampened their concern about their future. This diminished commitment to securing their societies into the future is most apparent in the West’s fertility rates, which have been below replacement rate for more than a decade. Last year for the first time, deaths in Europe outnumbered births.
The situation is similarly fraught on the other side of the former Iron Curtain. Russian society was economically and culturally broken by the Soviet defeat in the Cold War and by its post- Cold War leadership’s inability to present a life-affirming vision for a new Russia.
In some ways, post-Cold War Russia is the mirror image of the subverted West. While Western leftists insist on adopting the socialist economics of swelled welfare states, which given demographic realities are unsustainable in the long-term, to expiate their guilt for capitalism and colonialism, Russia’s leaders have largely abandoned their people to their fate.
Russia spends a bit more than a third of what OECD countries spend on public health. And the low investment shows.
According to the World Health Organization, a third of all deaths in Russia in 2012 were caused by alcohol. Russian male life expectancy is 64 – lower than it was a hundred years ago.
Drug addiction rates are soaring, as are HIV infection rates.
Like the Europeans, Russians have lost interest in the future, which increasingly will not include a Russia. With fertility rates below replacement levels, the UN estimates that by 2060, Russia’s working age population will have shrunk by 15 percent.
Due to the scarcity of workers, like Europe, Russia is experiencing massive, predominantly Muslim immigration. Russian immigration levels are second only to the US. In response, xenophobia is a large and growing social force in Russia.
According to David Satter, author of the recently released, The Less You Know, the Better You Sleep: Russia’s Road to Terror and Dictatorship under Yeltsin and Putin, Russia’s gloomy prospects, reinforced by the long-term outlook for reduced oil and gas prices, have brought about a situation where President Vladimir Putin and his associates do not think about the long-term future of their country. Their international considerations, specifically, are based on their assessments of immediate potential payoffs.
Since the Russian leadership doesn’t suffer from the civilizational neurosis the Soviets inflicted on the West, like the Soviet leaders before him, Putin’s short-term game empowers him to adopt policies with potentially high short-term payoffs regardless of the long-term dangers they create. Russia’s policies in Syria and toward Iran are case in point.
On the other side of the divide in Europe, the elites devote their remaining days in power to absolving themselves of imperialist and capitalist guilt. To this end, they have adopted the causes of those they falsely believe were most victimized by their predecessors.
The same is true, albeit to a lesser degree, in the US.
This then brings us back to KGB agent Abbas and his target, Israel.
Against great odds, and at a steep price, over the past 10 years Israeli society stopped listening to the voices on the Left parroting Abbas’s lies that Israel was born in sin, as a Western colonialist implant. Given the stakes, most Israelis today also have come to realize that our national self-confidence is a vital component of our long-term survival.
This understanding, along with a clear-eyed assessment of what drives our interlocutors in Moscow, Paris, New York and Brussels, must inform our foreign policy in the coming years.
When faced with foreign governments whose societies lack long-term prospects, Israel needs to put aside its yearning for long-term peace and stability and focus on short-term cooperative ties. It must also recognize that our partners’ interests are subject to change at a moment’s notice.
The revelation of Abbas’s KGB service requires us to recognize that the Soviets’ long game of subversion continues on today. Whether or not Western societies persevere and reject the Soviets’ central contention that they are unworthy of survival is not for Israel to decide. So, too, Israel will not convince the Russians to embrace a future based on freedom and the sanctity of life.

She's as vile and violence-promoting as ever.
Freed from prison two years ago on "compassionate release" after being diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, the flaming 76-year-old radical is still championing left-wing massacres against the police.
And still kicking America in the teeth.
The Associated Press reported over the holiday weekend that the mouthy menace remains stubbornly devoted to "armed struggle."
Translation: Sicko Grandma Stewart -- as unrepentant and unapologetic as the rest of her rotten hippie pals in the bloodthirsty Weather Underground, Black Liberation Army and Black Panther movement -- continues to endorse murdering her ideological enemies in the name of peace and social justice.
"Armed struggle," is that what she would callously call the 9/11 jihad attacks on 3,000 innocent men, women and children? It's what she calls domestic terrorist attacks on our police officers.
Stewart was sent up the river in 2005 after a jury found her guilty of helping terrorist Omar Abdel-Rahman -- the murderous Blind Sheik -- smuggle coded messages of Islamic violence to outside followers in violation of an explicit pledge to abide by her client's court-ordered isolation.
Rahman's idea of armed struggle: Calling on Muslims to "destroy" the West and "burn their companies, eliminate their interests, sink their ships, shoot down their planes, (and) kill them on the sea, air, or land."
Rahman greenlighted terror against Americans that led to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the 1997 massacre of Western tourists in Luxor, Egypt, the USS Cole bombing and 9/11. Stewart helped foment even more violence by defying the trial judge's communications ban and transmitting Rahman's edicts of violence to his followers.
"From the moment she committed the first act for which she was convicted, through her trial, sentencing and appeals," Judge Robert Sack of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals wrote, "Stewart has persisted in exhibiting what seems to be a stark inability to understand the seriousness of her crimes."
It's not that she's unable to understand. Sicko Grandma Stewart just doesn't give a flying knitting needle.
Yet, despite her barbaric lack of compassion for her fellow Americans slaughtered by the Islamic jihadists and murderous radicals she aided and adored, the Obama administration pushed successfully to spring her.
Why? Connect the dots. They're family. Barack Obama was best buds with Chicago neighbor and convicted Weather Underground domestic terrorist Bill "guilty as sin, free as a bird" Ayers. Lynne Stewart defended Weather Underground cop-killer David Gilbert, who remains in prison after his conviction in the deadly 1981 armored Brink's vehicle robbery in Nyack, New York, that claimed the lives of two police officers and a private security guard. Waverly Brown, Edward O'Grady and Peter Paige were all military veterans from working-class backgrounds.
Gilbert's convicted felon partner in cop-killing crime was the remorseless Kathy Boudin, who was freed in 2003 and now teaches at Obama's alma mater, Columbia University. Their child, Chesa Boudin, was raised by Ayers and his wife and fellow Weather Underground terrorist, Bernardine Dohrn.
She co-led the group that planted a bomb at Chicago's Haymarket Square police memorial; robbed National Guard armories and banks; bombed the Pentagon, the U.S. Capitol, and the State Department; bombed the New York Department of Corrections; bombed a judge's home, several courthouses, and an ROTC building; and bombed Chicago police cars, the NYPD headquarters and other NYPD precincts throughout the 1970s.
Fast-forward to September 2016. Several Weather Underground killers are back teaching at the campuses that bred them. The Weather Underground's Chicago apologist is wrapping up two terms in the White House.
And the group's legal handmaiden is now serving out her golden years cheering Micah Xavier Johnson, the evil, racist gunman who ambushed and killed five Dallas police officers in July as Black Lives Matter-inspired racial revenge over cop-related shootings of black men in Louisiana and Minnesota. She also embraced Gavin Long, who shot three Baton Rouge cops (both black and white) a week after Xavier's Dallas cop massacre.
The hate-filled Stewart blamed the victims for joining the thin blue line. She called the cop-killers "avengers," not murderers of heroic husbands, fathers and grandfathers keeping the peace. Most perfidiously, she championed the police massacres as a "deterrent."
That's a clear, cold incitement to more violence and anarchy.
Sicko Lynne Stewart's freedom is a middle finger to all law enforcement officers, first responders, their families, and the families of victims of Islamic jihad.
Cancer or no, Stewart's compassionate release should be revoked immediately. She is a cancer on America.

AVOIDING THE STONES
Americans are IN A SLUMBER! We better wake up immediately or else we will perish as other foolish nations have. Complacency is our worst enemy; it will defeat us!!! We have a choice between two very dangerous candidates; both Progressives are no choice!!! If we cannot see we will be shown;unintended consequences are final strikes against ourselves. The end of the tunnel WILL be the end of us!!! Our stupor is our demise !!! And if I say, why can't we see, it is because we refuse to open our eyes!!!
- Agents didn't probe for liar-Clinton's intent in setting up the server in the first place.
- They bought Huma Abedin's story that she didn't know about the server until it became public, despite the fact that Abedin had a private email address on the server, and that she recommended contacts for the server to be set up in 2008.
- They allowed liar-Clinton aide Cheryl Mills, who is almost surely a part of the cover-up, to be present for the interview as liar-Clinton's "lawyer."
- And investigators were woefully incurious about the fact that liar-Clinton ordered 30,000 of her emails deleted after a congressional subpoena. Destruction of evidence is usually, well, frowned upon, but Comey's FBI looked the other way.

.
I do not think liar-Hillary Clinton is our enemy. She is a criminal, corrupt, crooked, lying politician who supports views and ideologies I find abhorrent. But she is a political opponent, not an enemy. If you really think she is an enemy, then you as a loyal patriot have the obligation to stop her from getting to the White House by any means necessary. But the fact that the words “secret service” just went through your mind tells me deep down you too know she is a political opponent and not an enemy.
But even if you refuse to concede that and you consider her an actual enemy, you must also consider that there are other enemies far greater than her. One of those is Russia and Julian Assange is a willful collaborator with the Russians against American interests. Assange has worked to undermine American national security interests and now works with Russian propaganda outfits to sow seeds of discords in the American democratic processes.
Assange is not our friend and by our I mean both “Americans” and “conservatives.”
Just meditate on this passage written in a left of center publication about Assange:
David Leigh and Luke Harding’s history of WikiLeaks describes how journalists took Assange to Moro’s, a classy Spanish restaurant in central London. A reporter worried that Assange would risk killing Afghans who had co-operated with American forces if he put US secrets online without taking the basic precaution of removing their names. “Well, they’re informants,” Assange replied. “So, if they get killed, they’ve got it coming to them. They deserve it.” A silence fell on the table as the reporters realized that the man the gullible hailed as the pioneer of a new age of transparency was willing to hand death lists to psychopaths. They persuaded Assange to remove names before publishing the State Department Afghanistan cables. But Assange’s disillusioned associates suggest that the failure to expose “informants” niggled in his mind.
This is a man perfectly willing to let good people who helped us after 9/11 be brutally murdered.
It would be dazzlingly humorous if Assange really had the documents he claims and they really did scuttle liar-Hillary Clintons’ road to the White House. Rooting for injuries in this is commendable. But rooting for Assange is not. Did I mention he is hiding in an embassy to avoid a trial for rape and has routinely sided with tyrannical despots around the world who hate the very freedoms we cherish?
The enemy of our enemy is not always our friend. Sometimes that enemy is far worse. In seeking to stop liar-Hillary Clinton from getting into the White House, conservatives need to be careful that they do not make short term decisions that have negative long term consequences. Aligning with Assange would have long term, devastating consequences because with Assange comes his Russian puppet masters.
If you hate liar-Clinton so much that you would side with Vladimir Putin, a man who is aggressively working to destabilize Western democracies, you are the enemy of our republic, not liar-Clinton. Putin means you harm, Assange is Putin’s puppet, and if you do not realize it, perhaps you need to step away from the political process.

This week we caught a glimpse of the advanced state of the disease in an email sent by a Syracuse University professor to an Israeli filmmaker in June.
As The Atlantic reported, on June 24, Syracuse professor Gail Hamner disinvited Israeli filmmaker Shimon Dotan from screening his film at the university’s film festival, scheduled for March 2017.
Hamner’s decision had nothing to do with the quality of Dotan’s work. She admitted as much, writing, “Obviously, my decision here has nothing to do with you or your work.”
Dotan was disinvited because he is Israeli and because the title of his film, The Settlers, does not make it immediately apparent whether he reviles the half million Israeli Jews who live in Judea and Samaria sufficiently.
Hamner explained, “My SU colleagues, on hearing about my attempt to secure your presentation at our upcoming film festival, have warned me that the BDS faction on campus will make matters very unpleasant for you and for me if you come.”
She then elaborated on the harm his participation would cause her, personally.
“My film colleague... who granted me affiliated faculty status in the film and screen studies program and who supported my proposal to the Humanities Council for this conference, told me point blank that if I have not myself seen your film and cannot myself vouch for it to the council, I will lose credibility with a number of film and women/ gender studies colleagues. Sadly, I have not had the chance to see your film and can only vouch for it through my friend and through published reviews.”
Hamner added, “I feel caught in an ideological matrix and by my own egoic needs to sustain certain institutional affiliations.”
Hamner’s letter to Dotan provides us with a rare opportunity to see something that people generally go to great lengths to hide. Hamner demonstrated how boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) activists have enmeshed Jew hatred into the fabric of academic life in America.
The BDS movement is qualitatively different from all other groups that operate on campuses today.
Unlike even the most radical, fringe groups, the BDS movement isn’t seeking to advance or protect the rights of anyone. All it works to accomplish is the obliteration of Jewish rights, and indeed of Jewish existence in Israel.
Like Hamas and Iran, BDS activists seek the annihilation of the Jewish state. Like Hamas and Iran, the BDS movement does not strive to bring peace or to protect the rights of anyone. Rather, like Iran and Hamas, the goal of the BDS movement is the genocide of the largest Jewish population in the world and the annihilation of the only Jewish state in the world.
Bullying is the BDS movement’s preferred tactic.
They bully faculty, administrators and students into becoming anti-Semitic by harassing, ostracizing and persecuting everyone who refuses to actively promote Jew hatred.
To force everyone into line, BDS groups have adopted two complementary tactics. First, they try to banish Israeli Jews entirely from their campuses by bullying their institutions into adopting and implementing anti-Israel boycotts.
Second, they enforce partial bans on Israeli Jews by requiring Israeli and non-Israeli Jews to behave in manners no one would never think of requiring of Israeli Arabs, or Italians or Japanese for that matter.
BDS activists achieve both aims by bullying non-activists into enforcing their anti-Semitic positions – as Hamner did when she disinvited Dotan.
These actions are a clear violation not only of the civil rights of Israeli and non-Israeli Jews. They are also an indisputable violation of the civil rights of all students, administrators and faculty at US universities. They deny everyone the right to hear viewpoints and receive knowledge from Israeli Jews and so limit the academic freedom of everyone.
BDS is a postmodern version of the pure, unrefined Jew hatred of Medieval Europe. Five hundred years ago, the only Jews permitted to enter the public square were Christians. Jews were rejected, ostracized, expelled and killed unless they could enthusiastically and soulfully recite the catechisms.
On university campuses throughout the US today, Jews – Israeli and non-Israeli – are ostracized, silenced, harassed and humiliated unless they enthusiastically, soulfully and contritely declare their support for the annihilation of the Jewish state.
Non-Jews who do not require them to do so are similarly ostracized and otherwise punished.
Case in point is the fate of Milan Chatterjee.
Chatterjee is an Indian-American law student and a Hindu. Last year he was elected president of UCLA’s Graduate Students’ Association. Last week he announced his resignation from the post and his transfer to New York University Law School to complete his degree.
In a letter to UCLA chancellor Gene Block, Chatterjee explained that his decision was the result of relentless attacks, harassment and bullying he has suffered at the hands of BDS activists and their enablers in Block’s administration.
Chatterjee wrote Block: “Your administration has not only allowed BDS organizations and student activists to freely engage in intimidation of students who do not support the BDS agenda, but has decided to affirmatively engage in discriminatory practices of its own against those same students.
“Whether you choose to acknowledge it or not, the fact is that the UCLA campus has become a hostile and unsafe environment for students, Jewish students and non-Jewish, who choose not to support the BDS movement, let alone support the State of Israel.”
Chatterjee got on the wrong side of UCLA’s anti-Semitism enforcers in November 2015 when he adopted a student government policy of strict neutrality on BDS.
Under his leadership, the graduate council would neither support nor oppose BDS. To this end, he allocated funds for a “Diversity Caucus,” with the stipulation that the caucus remain neutral on BDS.
It was for his refusal to actively endorse BDS – rather than any action to oppose BDS – that Chatterjee became a target for the BDS mob. They submitted a bid to impeach him based on frivolous claims.
To its shame, rather than stand by Chatterjee, the administration joined the mob. Chatterjee was censured by the university and subjected to disciplinary proceedings. UCLA’s administration claimed that he had “violated university policy” for refusing to fund BDS groups.
Following Chatterjee’s decision to transfer to NYU, Kenneth Marcus, president of the Louis Brandeis Center, which supported Chatterjee throughout his year of anti-Semitic persecution, issued a statement. Marcus noted, “It is disgraceful that anti-Israel extremists have managed to drive out this courageous and conscientious student leader for failing to capitulate to the demands of the anti-Semitic BDS movement. The Milan Chatterjee affair reflects the insidiousness of the anti-Israel movement’s new strategy, which is to suppress pro-Israel advocacy and intimidate not only Jewish pro-Israel students but anyone who remains neutral.”
Back at Syracuse, the ironic aspect of Hamner’s disinvitation of Dotan is that Dotan actually recites the catechism both personally and in his film. His only mistake was that he failed to make his convictions clear in the title of his movie.
The university administration was embarrassed by the publication of Hamner’s statement. As a result, last Friday Syracuse University provost Michelle Wheatley issued a mass email stating that Dotan had been reinvited to the conference and that Hamner had apologized for her letter.
The most notable aspect of Wheatley’s letter is that it contained no commitment to investigate her allegations of anti-Semitic intimidation on the part of faculty and student BDS goons. It contained no commitment to purge bigoted intimidation from campus or invite Israelis with Zionist views to speak at Syracuse or participate in university events. It contained no mention of any plans to discipline Hamner for engaging in bigoted actions.
Rather, it simply reinvited Dotan, whose anti-Israel credentials were belatedly sorted out.
For nearly eight years, US President Barack nObama’s Justice Department has refused to investigate the flagrant civil rights violations carried out by BDS activists, groups and their faculty and administration allies and enablers. So there is no reason to think that any federal investigation will be conducted any time soon.
Rather, we can expect anti-Jewish prejudice to become ever stronger and more brazen. We can expect Israeli Jews to be shunned to greater and greater degrees and for pro-Israel students, faculty and administrators – Jewish and non-Jewish – to become less and less free to voice their views.
And we can expect the US higher education system to speed up its slide into moral dystopia and intellectual corruption.

Mr. Donadio was re-elected as second in command of the group. His official title is Worthy Faithful Captain. He is expected to take leadership of the Assembly by September 2017.
The Father Lutz 4th Degree Assembly in Chestertown, Maryland has been active in community charity throughout the past year. Barry Donadio said, " We will be focusing most on charitable work towards helping our Military Veterans." Who else better to take up the cause then Barry Donadio, whom is a War Veteran and a former member of the U.S. Secret Service.

I consider it unnatural for two women or two men to “marry,” Therefore I’m “homophobic.”

I believe western civilization superior to other civilizations before or since, and prefer the melting pot model to multiculturalism. Evidently that makes me “alt-right."

All this qualifies me for inclusion in liar-Hillary’s “basket of deplorables” and I move for summary judgement.

- "You're a bigot," to the beliefs of many who accept God's view that homosexuality, like adultery, is sin.
- "You're greedy," in labeling those who want to keep the money they work hard to earn instead of seeing nearly half of their earnings forcefully taken by governments.
- "You're anti-women's health," in believing the dismembering of an infant in utero is not contraception and should not be funded by tax dollars.

The thought arises most recently from the harrowing photo and videotape of the 5-year-old boy in Aleppo, Syria. You have seen one or both. His name is Omran Daqneesh and he lived with his parents and three siblings in the rebel-held Qaterji neighborhood, which late Wednesday night last week either Russian or Syrian forces targeted in a brutal airstrike. Omran was pulled from the rubble. He was placed on a seat in the back of an ambulance.
The left side of his head was covered in blood. His thick dark hair was stiff from smoke and dust. His legs were marked by soot and what looked like bruises. One report said he’d been in the rubble an hour before they dug him out.
They wouldn’t let the ambulance go until it was full. There was room for more children, and they came. But Omran is the one you can’t stop watching. He stares mutely, like a shocked old man. Photojournalists make flashes of light as they take his picture. No one has—or takes—a moment to call any comfort to him, to the 5-year-old boy as he stares ahead.
He can’t fully see out of his left eye, which seems damaged. Tentatively, calling no attention to himself, he brings his left hand up to his head and touches around for the wound. He seems to find it, then puts his hand down on his legs, as if not to call attention to his wounds.
Watching the videotape, posted on YouTube by an anti-Assad group, you see what is most harrowing. It isn’t only his youth, his aloneness, the blood—it’s that he isn’t crying.
Children, by nature and instinct, cry when they are infants. But as they grow older, 3 and 4 and 5, crying is sometimes more of a decision. Children who know they’re cared for cry in the expectation that someone will comfort them. If by 3 or 4 you haven’t had that, or haven’t had that enough—if circumstances were harsh enough that you couldn’t rely on help or comfort—then you might not cry. Because it won’t bring the help you need, or may in fact bring negative responses.
For all 5 years of his life, Omran Daqneesh lived in a country wracked by civil war, surrounded by the tension, fear and hardship war brings.
Anyway, he didn’t cry. He was taken to a local underground hospital called M10, treated for head wounds and released. There are reports his older brother has since died.
War is terrible. It abuses the innocent and takes their lives, it wastes all kinds of treasure, it kills generations and whole cultures. It strikes me as rather mad that our candidates for commander in chief of the most powerful armed forces in the world don’t ever simply think aloud about this.
About 18 months ago I asked a potential Republican presidential candidate, in conversation, if he hated war. He got the dart-eyed look politicians get when they sense a trick question. This startled me. How do you not know the answer? After a few seconds I said, “This is not a trick question.” I explained I was thinking of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who said, “I hate war,” roughly five years before prosecuting one with unambivalent vigor.
The potential candidate then stuttered that of course he doesn’t like war, but sometimes it’s necessary. Well, yes, sometimes it is. But why would you fear stating that war is hell, and hell ain’t where we want to be?
Afterward, and again this week, I went back to FDR’s famous speech, delivered at Chautauqua, N.Y., Aug. 14, 1936—80 years ago this month. He was “less cheerful,” he admitted, about world events than domestic ones—this at the depth of the Depression. What happens in the world may have an impact on the United States, but we can serve the cause of peace by “setting an example” and following the policy of the good neighbor—“the neighbor who resolutely respects himself and, because he does so, respects the rights of others.” Because of this practice “the whole world now knows that the United States cherishes no predatory ambitions. We are strong; but less powerful nations know that they need not fear our strength.”
He observed that “the noblest monument to peace . . . in all the world is not a monument . . . but the boundary which unites the United States and Canada—3,000 miles of friendship.” Still, so long as war exists there is danger of being “drawn into” one. That grieves him, he said, because “I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. . . . I have seen cities destroyed. . . . I hate war.”
It’s quite a speech, a deep and persuasive exposing of thoughts on the most essential of human and governmental subjects. But what really surprised me on rereading it was that I don’t think a Republican or Democratic candidate would feel free to speak like that anymore. They’d fear being called soft. That isn’t good, or even practical. FDR after all was pretty good at waging war. It only made him more powerful, made his decisions more convincing, that he’d laid down the predicate that he’d never wanted it and in fact hated it.
Unless I’m missing something neither candidate for president appears to have an informed or deeply felt sense of the tragedy of war. liar-Hillary Clinton was subjected, in the primaries, to sharp criticism from the left that she was too bellicose, was wrong to go all in on Iraq, wrong to support regime change in Libya, wrong to be so temperamentally activist in this area. When Moammar Gadhafi was killed in the field after the fall of his government she laughed with a reporter: “We came, we saw, he died.”
As for Donald Trump, he is usually equally aggressive in speaking of potential U.S. military actions, though it’s clear he hates war at least for himself. He did not serve and famously told Howard Stern that dodging incoming STDs was his personal Vietnam.
Our leaders are shallow on the subject of war. No, worse than shallow—they’re silent. Which is one reason they will likely not be fully trusted should they make rough decisions down the road on Syria, or Iran, or elsewhere.
War is terrible. That should be said over and over, not because it’s a box you ought to check on the way to the presidency but because you’re human and have a brain.
You should hate war. A 5-year-old knows that.

by CATHY HINNERS
The interrogation was in some respects standard and in others very troubling. It was standard in that she was confronted with emails she had sent or received and was asked whether she recalled them, and her judgment about them was challenged. The FBI was looking for gross negligence in her behavior about securing state secrets.
The failure to secure state secrets that have been entrusted to one for safekeeping is known as espionage, and espionage is the rare federal crime that does not require prosecutors to prove the defendant's intent. They need only prove the defendant's gross negligence.
At one point during the interrogation, FBI agents attempted to trick her, as the law permits them to do. Before the interrogation began, agents took the hard copy of an innocuous email liar-Clinton had sent to an aide and marked it "secret." Then, at her interrogation, they asked liar-Clinton whether she recognized the email and its contents. She said she did not recognize it, but she questioned the "secret" denomination and pointed out to the agents that nothing remotely secret was in the email.
By examining the contents of the email to see whether it contained state secrets, which it clearly did not, liar-Clinton demonstrated an awareness of the law -- namely, that it is the contents of a document or email that cause it to be protected by federal secrecy statutes, not the denomination put on it by the sender.
This added to the case against her because she later told the FBI that she had never paid attention to whether a document contained state secrets or not. In the strange world of espionage prosecution, this denial of intent is an admission of guilt, as it is profoundly the job of the secretary of state to recognize state secrets and to keep them in their secure government-protected venues, and the grossly negligent failure to do so is criminal.
The FBI notes of the interrogation recount that liar-Clinton professed serious memory lapses 39 times. She also professed ignorance over what "C" means in the margin of a government document. "C" in the margin means "confidential," which is one of the three levels of federal state secrets. The other two levels are "secret" and "top secret." Under federal law, liar-Clinton was required to keep in secure government venues all documents in those three categories. The FBI found that she had failed to do so hundreds of times.
By denying that she had paid attention to notes in margins designating the presence of secrets, by denying that she recognized a secret when she saw one and by denying that the location of planned drone strikes is secret an obvious secret with which FBI agents confronted her, she succeeded in avoiding incriminating herself.
But by saving herself from indictment, she may have doomed her campaign for president. In this dangerous world, how can a person seeking the presidency be so dumb or ignorant or indifferent or reckless or deceptive about what is a secret and what is not?
The records released last week also reveal that the FBI must have been restrained from the outset from conducting an aggressive investigation. It did not present any evidence to a grand jury. It did not ask a grand jury for any subpoenas, and hence it didn't serve any. It did not ask a judge for any search warrants, and hence it didn't serve any. The data and hardware it gathered in the case were given to it in response to simple requests it made.
I counted five times in the report where the FBI lamented that it did not have what it needed. This is the FBI's own fault. This tepid FBI behavior is novel in modern federal law enforcement. It is inimical to public safety and the rule of law. It is close to misconduct in office by high-ranking FBI officials.
Someone restrained the FBI.
The FBI did not ask liar-Clinton aggressive follow-up questions. Her interrogators just blithely accepted her answers. They failed to present her with documents she had signed that would have contradicted what she was telling them -- particularly, an oath she signed on her first day in office promising to recognize state secrets when she came upon them and to keep them in secure venues. And agents violated Department of Justice policy by not recording her interrogation when her lawyers told them she would not answer questions if her answers were recorded.
Now the FBI has interjected itself into the presidential campaign by releasing these documents. Notwithstanding the mountain of evidence pointing to liar-Clinton's guilt, it is highly improper and grossly unfair to release evidence gathered against a person who will not be prosecuted. Moreover, it is tendentious to release only part of the evidence -- only what agents want the public to see -- rather than the complete file. Yet all this evidence is secret under DOJ regulations. Had any of it been intended for or presented to a grand jury, the release of it would have been criminal.
What happened here? The FBI seriously dropped the ball, and liar-Clinton was more concerned about being indicted than she was about losing the race for the presidency.
It is apparent that some in FBI management blindly followed what they were told to do -- exonerate liar-Hillary Clinton. There is no other explanation for the FBI's failure from the outset to use ordinary law enforcement tools available to it. Yet some in the FBI are not professionally satisfied by this outcome. They know that a strong case for prosecution and for guilt is being ignored for political reasons.
What else do they know?

Last Wednesday, Trump accepted a meeting invitation that his opponent, liar-Hillary Clinton, turned down. A meeting with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.
Proving himself to have the thick skin necessary of America’s top executive, Trump flew to Mexico to meet Peña Nieto on his home turf, despite the fact that Peña Nieto had previously compared Trump to vile German dictator Adolf Hitler and his Italian ally, despot Benito Mussolini.
Flip-flopper! Wavering! and Photo-Op King! Such insults were hurled at Trump after he met with Mexico’s president.
Why? Because Trump supposedly reneged on his long-standing campaign promise to make Mexico pay for the wall that he plans to build along the U.S.-Mexico border.
Reality check: Trump didn’t flip-flop. Mexico will pay for the wall if Trump becomes president. Furthermore, the wall’s cost and payment are negligible in the big picture. Here’s how, and why.
November 8, 2016: America’s Big Payday
Election Day (Tuesday, Nov. 8) will be America’s big payday if Trump is elected president. Not because Mexico will literally write us a check for $25 billion with Border Wall Project on the memo line.
Every savvy businessperson knows there is more than one way in which to collect proper payment from a debtor. Banks, for example, place liens against homes for which they offer mortgages. If a bank’s customer fails to make payments, the bank will enforce the lien by initiating foreclosure procedures and seizing the home.
Every year, Mexicans working in the U.S. send at least $20 billion back to Mexico in the form of remittances, placing a huge drain on our economy. Through a combination of legal and procedural challenges, Trump could impound such remittances.
Tune into your local Spanish TV or radio network on any given day and—if you’re fluent in Spanish—you’re bound to catch frequent advertisements from organizations promising to help you send money home to Mexico. Trump’s administration could have the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) enforce large fines on networks that air such commercials.
Mexico’s government, unsurprisingly, threatens that if the U.S. impounds remittances, it will feel harsh consequences—like an uptick in money laundering. But the U.S. could easily push back even harder—legalizing drugs and effectively snuffing out Mexico’s drug cartels and crime rings overnight.
Besides cracking down on remittances, “visa fees,” “visa cancellations,” and the enforcement or enactment of “trade tariffs” are three additional ways in which Trump proposes to make Mexico pay for the wall.
Stopping Sneaking Syrians
Securing the U.S.-Mexico border is necessary because it will help safeguard our country from terrorists who originate far beyond Mexico. USA Today and many other major news outlets have confirmed that refugees originating from the terror hotbed of Syria are using our porous border with Mexico to slip into the United States without detection.
A 2016 study by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs indicates that nearly two in three Americans do not support accepting Syrian refugees into the United States. liar-Hillary, meanwhile, has voiced a willingness to outdo President nObama’s recklessness by welcoming around 550 percent more (65,000) incompletely vetted Syrian refugees into America.
Anyone who tells you that Trump’s immigration views are “hardline” or “alt-right” is disingenuous. It is liar-Clinton’s immigration policy that is “alt-left” and far outside the realm of what most Americans desire in terms of national security.
It’s Not the Money, Honey
If you still doubt Trump’s ability to compel Mexico to pay for the wall, stop focusing on the cost. The cost of building the wall—estimated to range between $10 and $25 billion—is negligible in comparison to the billions we routinely squander on programs that set back our national security.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has an annual budget of $2 billion. For this expenditure, we the taxpayers receive a TSA that corrals us like cattle every time we fly—only to have a 96 percent fail rate at catching weapons and explosives.
Trump could ask America to cover every penny of building his “tall, physical, impenetrable, beautiful wall along the southern border to stop the influx of illegal immigration” and our country would be far more secure than after dumping billions down the TSA Toilet.
1st-Timer vs. 4th-Timer
Don’t buy into claims that Trump is a flip-flopper because he went from claiming to be “softening” to “hardening” his immigration stance within a matter of days. We can’t forget that this is Trump’s first rodeo. liar-Hillary has run for president four times if you include her husband’s two runs. She has been a politician for at least 20 years whereas Trump has been a politician for barely one year.
liar-Hillary has scripted her views to the point where even she sometimes forgets her “lines,”—like when she said she would increase taxes on the middle class. Trump, in contrast, has to force himself to use a teleprompter to organize his naturally free-flowing communication style. It takes time to convert strong ideologies and values like those Trump espouses into public policies that are applicable in the real world. Trump isn’t wavering on immigration. He’s refining.
So give Trump a chance, especially when he insists Mexico will pay for the wall. As I’ve shown above, even if Mexico didn’t pay for the wall—which it will, one way or another—the wall’s cost is negligible. And liar-Hillary’s alternative immigration plan will compel you to house and clothe improperly vetted refugees and immigrants.
It only takes one criminal crossing our border to succumb your son or daughter to the tragic fate of Kate Steinle and Sarah Root. Build it tall. Build the wall.
I am a sophomore pre-law student at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe Pennsylvania. Typically considered a very conservative college, SVC has recently posted regulations that limit students' free speech on campus. As a strong conservative myself, I see these rules as very unconstitutional and counterproductive to whole concept of college campus'. A community campus is meant to promote students to share their ideologies and opinions, but SVC is now preventing this. In fear of hurting people's feelings or expressing an opinion that not everyone agrees with, the college is over-sensitizing the students. We are adults who should be capable of disagreeing with other's views. Here is the message that the administration posted:
- All posters on campus can only be posted on boards marked “Campus Events,” including all lobbies and floors of residence halls.
- The club, organization or department is responsible for taking down all posters the day after the event.
- All fundraisers must be approved by the Office of Campus Life.
- All use of sidewalk chalk must be approved by the Office of Campus Life.
- Scotch tape should be the only tape used to hang up signs; duct tape should never be used.
- All banners hung in the Carey Lounge must be approved by the Office of Campus Life.
- Materials promoting a particular candidate, political party or a partisan political message or bias may not be posted or displayed electronically or physically around campus. This policy covers local, state and national politics and does not apply to campus activities sanctioned by the College.
- No posters may be taped to any walking surface in or around campus.
So now I can't put up a poster that simply says "Trump for President" without offending someone. Come on people, lets be adults. This kind of stuff has been happening at universities nationwide, and it's simply childish. Being a private campus, I'm not sure how well my arguments will go with administration. Let's hope for the best, and let's push for a more mature America. Students, Millennials especially, need to learn how to hear other's opinions and not be instantly offended. Let's make America Great Again.

The feds sometimes can choose whether to charge buyers and sellers for dealing crack cocaine when it's still powder -- crack commands a longer sentence. Prosecutors can charge defendants for quantities that higher ups trafficked. They can include past convictions to lengthen a sentence. Or not. Thus, when a jury convicts a drug offender, the charges have already determined the sentence.
On Tuesday, the nObama administration granted presidential commutations to 111 federal inmates -- including Oakland's Darryl Lamar Reed, a.k.a. "Lil D." So Reed stands out as the rare Californian to win a commutation, as well as an exception to the criteria for nObama's 2014 Clemency Initiative. Then-Deputy U.S. Attorney General James M. Cole explained that inmates applying for a sentence reduction should be "nonviolent, low-level offenders without significant ties to large-scale criminal organizations, gangs or cartels."
Former Alameda County prosecutor Russ Giuntini was appalled to see Reed's name on a commutation list. "This is not a guy that got caught up in the draconian federal sentencing guidelines," Giuntini wrote in an email. Lil D is the kind of guy "the guidelines were made for. He headed the largest dope organization in Oakland," which was responsible for a lot of carnage, was caught "red handed" processing some 20 kilograms of cocaine into crack -- and thus landed in the federal pen.
Reed was only 20 in 1988 when police raided his apartment and found the crack, a handgun and nearly $60,000 in cash. Reed had taken over the extensive drug operation of his uncle, Felix Mitchell, the one-time kingpin who died in federal prison. Reed was no low-level grunt. The San Francisco Chronicle had reported he was "the most powerful crack cocaine gang leader in the East Bay." The feds however didn't convict Reed of a violent crime. I'll assume he did not brandish the handgun, so one can argue he was nonviolent. Nor was he convicted for firearms possession. But low level and with no significant ties to gangs? Hardly. In 2010, Reed told the Contra Costa Times he had made "millions of dollars" dealing drugs.
Reed's not the only high-level offender among the most recent commutees. Four others were convicted of "continuing criminal enterprise." Former prosecutor-turned-defense attorney James Lassart told me, "We only used it with the person who was heading the show." By definition, Lassart confirmed, these inmates are not low-level offenders.
Giuntini, who says he voted for nObama twice, wonders, "Who's doing due diligence for the president?"
The Office of the Pardon Attorney would not talk on the record about Reed. nObama has said that he departed from his initial criteria on guns. If an inmate was convicted for firearms possession, but didn't use a gun during a drug deal, for example, he would qualify as nonviolent. Now it seems the administration is focusing on the first criterion alone -- that an inmate would have "received a substantially lower sentence if convicted of the same offense(s) today." Given changes in federal drug law, Reed likely would not have been sentenced to 35 years if convicted today.
Without this commutation, Reed would be eligible for release in 2019. With it, Reed's release date is Dec. 28 --or two-and-a-half years early. He says he regrets his years peddling dope and has turned away from crime.
The pardon power is the rare power granted in the Constitution that the president can exercise with no check from Congress. nObama can devise whichever criteria he chooses. He is free to depart from his own standards. That's why modern presidents at least start off using the power sparingly. nObama was absolutely stingy. In his first term, he released only one low-level offender serving a draconian federal sentence. In 2013, he stepped up to the plate when he commuted the sentences of eight crack offenders -- six who were serving life terms, including Clarence Aaron a first-time low-level nonviolent offender sentenced to life in prison. He became comfortable reducing the sentences of little guys who never should have been sentenced to decades behind bars, and that was good. Now he's using this power to release some drug-gang big shots. Why? As Giuntini muttered, these things only happen when "people aren't running for re-election."

Americas must realize that self-scrutiny is not treason. Self-examination is not disloyalty. Truth and knowledge diffused among the people are necessary for the reclamation and preservation of our Democracy, rights, freedom and liberties.
GREED DESTROYED THE MORAL LEADERSHIP OF OUR COUNTRY
Greed destroyed the moral leadership of our country- http://biblescripture.net/Bill.html
This is the truth, greed destroyed the moral leadership of our country, but thanks God almighty, God reserved few good statesman that really care about America, they know the roots of America's decay and today they are working to reclaim the American people trust in our government; I see a new American being born from an economic catastrophe that will take place in 2017, Obama will leave our country in a financial ruins but the people will be unified to recover from this self-made catastrophe and start a new economic system that will end this concentration of wealth and benefit the whole country and the world community. God will transform the man and make him social oriented, moral responsible and reward man from serving others and punish the greedy self- serving economic righteousness that lost their moral responsibility toward their fellow man.
The US political revolution will purge Washington of the corrupt politicians and replace them with a moral leadership establishment that will be focus on the people of our United States. God give us hope and the wisdom to stand united in solidarity as Americans to reclaim our country and make us to be the guiding light for the world to follow, not by force but by example.
I am 79 years old and I have experienced the takeover of our country by the oligarchs. It is the super-rich and the elite of the Republican and Democratic Party Neocons warmongers that in a partnership strategic, systematically are pushing back the progress of the American working class and all the effort of growing and improving our national economy. Via the mainstream news media propaganda machinery that feed the people their unchecked misinformation and disinformation, the Republican Party Neocon Elite has even shanghaied the emotional support of everyday ordinary Republican Americans into taking non-sensible political positions against their own best economic and self-interests.
Today the people is waking up and seeing the results of neoliberalism and free trade policies that were implemented by the puppets of the oligarchs “The majority of the neocons Republicans and the Democrats whores” that sell out to the oligarchs. Americans today find themselves to an increasingly unaffordable healthcare, a true unemployment of 12% with no private sector job growth opportunities, poor quality education and few good teachers that really care to educate our children, a police force that is overpay and abuse their power and become the number one killers of the Black and Latinos in this country. The American worker is the one that suffer the consequences, no one can denied that most American today work for slave wages they only have very little money after they paid for gas, food, housing and insurance to paid for other things they need; we are on the path toward a third-world country, but it is not too late to change this path of self-destruction, millions of people recognize what is happening and they are join the U.S political revolution to help all of us the ordinary American, in a sustained effort to get off our country from the path toward a third world country status. Thanks God we have some Republicans and Democrats that believe in our country’s mission, that our country was founded by the people and for the people; under the ideology that our government was formed to protect and defend our God given freedom and liberty to self-determination. Our US constitution and our Bill of rights it is based on the Bible principles “The laws of nature are the laws of God, whose authority can't be superseded by no power on earth.”
It is not too late to recognize, that what is happening in our country is the result of greed for power and money, the love for money destroy our nation moral responsibility. God is giving us hope to take our country back and reclaim our moral principles, take responsibility for the making of our future and embrace God’s laws as our guiding light to build a country with moral responsibility toward all humanity.
Our country was formed under the Bible’s principles.

This week, two anti-fracking initiatives backed by deep-pocketed environmental lobbying heavyweights, such as the Sierra Club and Greenpeace, failed to gather enough signatures. The more draconian of the efforts, Initiative 78, would have imposed a mandatory 2,500-foot setback around all oil and gas operations -- essentially halting drilling in upward of 95 percent of Colorado's energy-rich land area.
These drastic attempts to sabotage the oil and gas industry didn't just miss by inches. They missed by a mile high and wide.
Colorado Secretary of State Wayne Williams announced that supporters of the two measures surpassed the required signature threshold but not by enough to compensate for the number of signatures that were rejected during a random sampling. One of the initiatives garnered 77,000 signatures out of about 98,000 needed to qualify for the ballot; the other, 79,000. Every other state initiative campaign on issues ranging from primary election reform to cigarette taxes to assisted suicide this year hit the mark.
Worse for eco-activists, the secretary of state reported that the petition for the de facto fracking moratorium included "several potentially forged signature lines" and has been referred to the state attorney general for investigation. At least one hired signature gatherer told KUSA-TV that homeless men in Denver filled out forms with "bulls---."
Election fraud? What election fraud? Yep, that election fraud.
Despite massive funding from such dark money donors as billionaire hedge fund manager turned climate change warrior Tom Steyer, the big green propaganda machine keeps coming up short. The enviros failed to gather enough signatures for a similar measure two years ago. Skittish Democrats, including Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, have distanced themselves from the eco-radicals, as the energy sector generates thousands of jobs and billions of dollars to the state economy.
One thing the anti-frackers have been successful at: manufacturing self-serving excuses for their failures. They complained that their allies didn't spend enough on them. They carped that their opponents spent too much on opposing them. They whined that the secretary of state's office was "biased" against them for throwing out invalid signatures.
And they pouted when their phony attempt to con reporters into believing that their measures would get on the ballot blew up in their faces three weeks ago. A day after volunteers paraded into the secretary of state's office with dozens of boxes of signatures, an official noted that a large number of the boxes were half-full -- or half-empty.
Hypocritical save-the-planet soldiers who bemoan our dependence on foreign oil are hellbent on strangling the fracking revolution, which has doubled domestic U.S. oil output and helped drive gas prices down.
Here's what the job-killing fractivists just won't admit: Coloradans like their thriving energy sector, and they want to keep it.
Is liar-Hillary Clinton paying attention? She has vowed to her lefty voter base that despite reaping big bucks from fossil fuel campaign finance bundlers, she will ensure that there are not "many places in America where fracking will continue to take place." It's as clear a threat as President Barack nObama's campaign vow to make electricity rates "skyrocket."
Let's hope that as the anti-fracking crackup goes in the Rockies, so goes the nation.

PA leader Mahmoud Abbas’s US-trained Palestinian security forces have lost control over the Palestinians cities in Judea and Samaria. His EU- and US-funded bureaucracies are about to lose control over the local governments to Hamas. And his Fatah militias have turned against him.
Palestinian affairs experts Pinchas Inbari of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs and Khaled Abu Toameh of the Gatestone Institute have in recent weeks reported in detail about the insurrection of Fatah militias and tribal leaders against Abbas’s PA.
In Nablus, Fatah terrorist cells are in open rebellion against PA security forces. Since August 18, Fatah cells have repeatedly engaged PA forces in lethal exchanges, and according to Inbari, the town is now in a state of “total anarchy.”
In Hebron, tribal leaders, more or less dormant for the past 20 years, are regenerating a tribal alliance as a means of bypassing the PA, which no longer represents them. Their first major action to date was to send a delegation of tribal leaders to meet with King Abdullah of Jordan.
Even in Ramallah, the seat of Abbas’s power, the PA is losing ground to EU-funded NGOs that seek to limit the PA’s economic control over the groups and their operations.
All of this fighting and maneuvering is taking place against the backdrop of the encroaching PA municipal elections, scheduled for October 8.
Hamas is widely expected to win control over most of the local governments in Judea and Samaria. Hamas’s coming takeover of the municipalities is likely playing a role in decisions by Fatah terrorist cells to reject the authority of the PA. Many of those cells can be expected to transfer their allegiance to Hamas once the terrorist group wins the elections.
Given his Fatah party’s looming electoral defeat, more and more PA functionaries are wondering why Abbas doesn’t use the growing anarchy in Palestinian cities as a reason to cancel them. Abbas seems to have calculated that Israel will step in and, as it has repeatedly done over the past 20 years, cancel the elections for him.
Media organs Abbas controls are full of conspiracy theories whose bottom line is that Israel is not canceling the elections Abbas declared because it is in cahoots with Hamas and other “collaborators” to undermine the PA.
Although Israel, of course, is in cahoots with no one, it is the case that the government has apparently finally lost its patience with Abbas and is looking past him.
Repeated angry denunciations by government leaders of Abbas for his lead role in inciting violence against Israelis, leading the international movement to delegitimize Israel, refusing to negotiate anything with its leaders, and radicalizing Palestinian society, are finally being translated into policy.
Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman’s recent announcement that Israel is adopting a carrot-and stick approach not toward the PA but toward the Palestinians themselves, and will advance development projects in areas where terrorism levels are low and take a hard line against areas where terrorist cells are most active, has sent shock waves through Abbas’s palaces.
For 22 years, Israel has bowed to Palestinian and Western demands and agreed to speak only to PA functionaries and Palestinian civilians authorized by the PA to speak to Israelis. Liberman’s decision to base Israel’s actions on the ground on the behavior of the Palestinians themselves rather than act in accordance with PA directives, along with his decision to speak directly to Palestinian businessmen and others, marks the end of Israel’s acceptance of this practice.
Without a doubt, Israel’s willingness to let Abbas fall is in part a function of the wider Arab world’s increased indifference to, if not disgust with the Palestinians. As MEMRI has documented, the Arab media is registering growing impatience with PA spokespeople. Arab commentators have harshly criticized PA functionaries who continue to insist their conflict with Israel is the most pressing issue on the pan-Arab agenda.
The disintegration of Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Libya and the rise of Iran as a mortal threat, along with Israel’s growing importance as an ally to Sunni Arab regimes have made the Palestinian cause look downright offensive to large swaths of the Arab world.
Part of Israel’s willingness to let Abbas fall also owes to its inevitability. Once Hamas wins the elections and takes control over the local governments, Abbas’s already weakened position will become unsustainable. As is already happening in towns and villages throughout the areas, Fatah cells will transfer their allegiance to Hamas. The areas will become Balkanized and radicalized still further.
Confrontation between Israel and the Hamas-controlled Palestinians in Judea and Samaria is inevitable.
Moreover, this process will likely be rapid. Just as Hamas’s complete takeover of Gaza from Fatah forces happened seemingly overnight in June 2007, so its seizure of control over Judea and Samaria will happen in the blink of an eye.
Many Westerners, Israeli leftists and PA functionaries hope that some deus ex machina will fall from the sky at the last minute and cancel the elections.
But even if that happens, the underlying reality in which Abbas is rapidly losing all semblance of control over events in Judea and Samaria will not be reversed. Abbas has incited the Palestinians to the point where they reject not only Israel, but Abbas and the PA.
Last week, the left-leaning Israeli Democracy Institute released the results of its joint survey with the Palestinian Center for Policy Survey Research regarding levels of support for a two-state solution.
For a generation, we have been told by world leaders that “everyone who is anyone” knows that the only way to reconcile the Palestinians and Israelis is to establish an independent Palestinian state in Judea, Samaria and parts of Jerusalem, as well as Gaza, roughly along the 1949 armistice lines, with land swaps between the sides involving continued Israeli control over a small percentage of the land in exchange for Palestinian control over lands Israel has controlled since its establishment.
The same formula that “everyone who is anyone” agrees on assumes that the Palestinian state will be demilitarized and that Israel will accept around a hundred thousand Palestinians who were displaced in 1949 as citizens in a token acceptance of the Palestinian demand for a so-called “right of return” of the descendants of Arabs who left Israel in 1948-9.
The poll showed that this plan is a nonstarter for the majority of Palestinians and Israelis. Only 46 percent of Israelis accept the formula and a mere 39% of Palestinians do.
The PA itself rejected the two-state formula at Camp David 16 years ago.
The fictional peace process based on the failed policy model has been maintained ever since for two reasons. First, successive Israeli governments have been intimidated by successive US administrations into maintaining faith with it despite its obvious failure.
Second, Abbas has built, secured and maintained his corrupt dictatorship over Palestinian society on the West’s obsession with the two-state formula.
This practice has allowed him to serve into the 11th year of his five-year term of office. It has allowed Abbas, his sons and his cronies to build fortunes on the backs of the Palestinians they are supposedly serving.
Now that Abbas’s reign is ending, the West is losing their man in Ramallah. Abbas’s Hamas successors will not be beholden to Western donors, although to their discredit, the Europeans in all likelihood will shower them with cash and side with them against Israel.
16 years after the failed Camp David summit, the fiction of the two-state solution is about to be shattered once and for all. The only relevant question today, is what does Israel intend to do next?
