President Donald Trump warned Thursday that the United States may launch further strikes against Iran, as Washington and Israel prepare for a possible new offensive following the November midterm elections.

“We’ve knocked the hell out of them. And we may do it a little bit further,” Trump told reporters.

Asked how the war with Iran could affect the midterm elections, Trump acknowledged the political costs of military action but defended his decision to confront Tehran.

“One way, they love it because I’m doing what should have been done by other presidents. And another way, maybe they don’t. There’s a price to pay, which I knew immediately when I did it,” he said.

“But we can’t let Iran have a nuclear weapon,” Trump insisted.

The president’s latest warning came less than a day after he suggested that a decision on Iran was approaching, amid reports that Washington and Israel were preparing for possible strikes after the midterms.

“We are going to have something one way or the other that’ll happen fairly soon,” Trump told reporters Wednesday night. “Most people seem to think it’s after the election, and we’re going to see what happens.”

Asked about negotiations with Tehran, Trump initially replied, “A little bit, but we’ll see what happens,” before adding moments later, “I think we’re not negotiating.”

The New York Times reported Wednesday that American and Israeli military planners had developed plans for a potentially three-day offensive targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, missile and drone arsenals, and energy infrastructure.

ABC News added Thursday that Israeli officials expect the joint offensive to follow shortly after the midterms, citing two Israeli sources familiar with the preparations.

“Hunting season is open as soon as the elections end and it’s obvious that they’re not going to wait long,” one source said.

The White House ruled out American strikes before November 3 but left open the possibility of renewed military action afterward.

“The United States will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the midterm elections,” White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said Thursday.

The report also disclosed that plans for renewed strikes were discussed during War Secretary Pete Hegseth’s unannounced visit to Israel on Monday, when American and Israeli officials exchanged new intelligence, according to one Israeli source.

The proposed targets include petrochemical facilities central to Iran’s oil industry and nuclear installations such as the heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain complex, which NBC News had previously identified as a potential target.

One Israeli source said the current plans did not include attacks on civilian infrastructure such as power plants.

Hegseth had publicly signaled that readiness Tuesday, saying American forces could resume operations if Trump gave the order.

“We’ve done historic devastation to their military capabilities, but if they’re not willing to give it up and the president asks to go even further — we’re prepared,” he told reporters.

American personnel are also being repositioned at military bases across the Middle East, in movements a source familiar with the preparations compared to those preceding the outbreak of war in February, according to the report.

U.S. Central Command declined to discuss specific deployments, citing operational security.

While Trump has publicly emphasized preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has gone further, directing Israel’s military and intelligence agencies to pursue the overthrow of Tehran’s ruling regime.

“There is only one way to remove this threat once and for all: overthrow the regime in Iran,” Netanyahu declared Wednesday. “And that is my directive to the IDF, the Mossad, and the security branches.”

The Israeli sources described regime change, rather than a negotiated settlement, as Netanyahu’s principal objective, while emphasizing that Trump alone would decide whether the United States participates in renewed joint strikes.

Iranian officials have threatened a broader war in response to renewed strikes, warning that American infrastructure throughout the region could become a target.

In an interview with Drop Site News, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council secretary, Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei, specifically threatened American communications cables, data centers, and artificial intelligence facilities.

“The United States has valuable assets in the region. In the event of war, cables, data centers and artificial intelligence facilities could also come within range,” Rezaei said.

“If the conflict begins again, we will have a broader plan,” he warned.

Separately, Mohammad-Saleh Jokar, chairman of the Iranian parliament’s Internal Affairs Committee, urged authorities to authorize nuclear weapons in the event of another American attack.

“I ask the Islamic Republic’s authorities – in defence of the country and for the purpose of deterrence – to permit the use of deterrent weapons, including nuclear weapons, in the event of a US attack on Iran,” Jokar said, according to Iran International.

He also called for suspending Iran’s obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty if the United States launches another offensive.

Iran also showcased its attack-drone production Thursday, broadcasting footage of Arash drones being manufactured as Army Chief Maj. Gen. Amir Hatami touted expanded production facilities and substantial reserves of unmanned weapons.

Iranian state media claimed the Arash drones had undergone major upgrades, including an increase in warhead capacity from 50 to 100 kilograms, improved targeting systems incorporating artificial intelligence, and development of a jet-powered variant.

Despite the detailed military preparations, Trump has not authorized another offensive, leaving the decision over whether to resume strikes — and how far Washington is prepared to go — in the president’s hands.

DUBAI, Oct 23 (Reuters) - Tehran has drawn up detailed plans to target undersea communications cables in the Gulf if the United States and Israel attack Iran again, two senior Iranian security officials ​told Reuters.

Their comments followed warnings by Iranian officials that undersea cables in the region could become targets in any renewed conflict if diplomacy with Washington ‌collapses.

The two Iranian security officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, gave few details and did not say how or where exactly Tehran would carry out such attacks. But one of them said Iran would aim to prevent repairs after any attacks to prolong disruptions to communications, including internet connections.

"If Iran is attacked, there will be no more red lines ... from undersea cables to military bases, including covert ones," one ​of the officials said.

The official warned Washington not to "play with fire", and said Iran had full access to the undersea cables and could easily destroy them.

Yadollah ​Javani, the deputy head of political affairs for Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), said on Wednesday that Iran could target seven major internet cables beneath ⁠the Strait of Hormuz if Iranian infrastructure came under attack.

Undersea cables carry around 99% of global internet traffic, according to the International Telecommunication Union, a UN agency. But the ​global impact of such attacks by Iran could be limited as less than 1% of international bandwidth passes through the Strait of Hormuz, said Alan Mauldin, research director at telecommunications ​research firm TeleGeography.

The strait separates Iran and Oman, linking the Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and Arabian Sea.

The US Department of State and Iran's Foreign Ministry did not respond to Reuters' requests for comment on the Iranian security officials' remarks. There was no immediate comment from Gulf states.

'STRONGER RESPONSE'

The plans for possible attacks on undersea cables reflect a conviction in Iran's leadership that a renewed US military ​campaign would have to be met with a stronger response than before.

Top security official Mohsen Rezaei warned this month that US-linked digital infrastructure across the Gulf, including data centres and ​AI facilities, could be targeted in a renewed conflict.

Washington's Gulf allies have invested heavily in such infrastructure and they "should hold Washington, not Tehran, responsible for any damage to undersea cables," the second Iranian ‌security official ⁠said.

Alex Vatanka, director of the Iran program at the Middle East Institute in Washington, said such threats were intended to deter renewed conflict and put pressure on Washington by making Gulf governments and US companies fear for their investments in the region.

"Tehran wants Gulf states and corporate executives to press (US President Donald) Trump over the risks his policies pose to their investment plans," said Vatanka.

Multiple cable cuts could slow internet services and disrupt financial transactions, e-commerce and cloud computing, analysts said. The impact would depend on how operators rerouted traffic and ​the capacity available on alternative connections, Mauldin said.

Restoring ​connections during wartime could be difficult, ⁠experts said, and higher insurance costs and delays in obtaining permits to enter territorial waters could further complicate repairs.

The Red Sea could offer a more significant target than the Strait of Hormuz, particularly if Iran had support from its Houthi allies in Yemen, though Tehran ​has made no public statement indicating it plans to target cables there.

The Red Sea carries data between Europe, East Africa and ​Asia, with capacity routed ⁠through it accounting for about 3% of global international demand and around 10% of traffic travelling between regions, Mauldin said.

Gulf governments have been investing heavily in technology to diversify beyond oil and become global artificial intelligence hubs, deepening ties with US technology firms.

Iranian strikes directly hit two Amazon Web Services facilities in the UAE in March and damaged infrastructure near one of its ⁠facilities in Bahrain. ​The IRGC named US tech companies including Microsoft, Google, Apple and Nvidia as legitimate targets at the ​height of the war in March.

Land-based connections can provide alternative routes for internet traffic, and Gulf states and US technology companies are investing in additional infrastructure to improve resilience.

Microsoft plans to invest more than $400 million in subsea ​and terrestrial connectivity across the Middle East by 2030.

Breaking: Israel Orders Full West Bank Lockdown After IDF Troops Stop Terror Attack!-Posted on The Western Journal-By V. Saxena-On October 23, 2026:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the West Bank to be fully locked down on Friday after the Israel Defense Forces killed two Palestinian terrorists.

“I have instructed the IDF and security forces to immediately cordon off the city of Hebron and take additional security measures to prevent terrorist attacks originating from Judea and Samaria,” he announced in a post published to his official government account on X.

Hebron is the largest city in the West Bank.

Judea and Samaria are the official Israeli terms for the highly contested West Bank, with Judea covering cities like Hebron and Bethlehem, and Samaria covering cities like Nablus, Jenin, and Ramallah.

In a separate post to his personal X account, Netanyahu wrote in Hebrew that the IDF would “immediately impose a closure on the city of Hebron” and “prepare for a full lockdown across all of Judea and Samaria starting today.”

According to The Times of Israel, the Israeli prime minister’s decision came after two Palestinian gunmen “arrived by car” at a checkpoint in Hebron early Friday morning and proceeded to open fire on IDF soldiers.

“The clash between the gunmen and IDF troops lasted over 20 minutes, during which five Israelis were wounded, including two critically and three in light-to-moderate condition,” The Times of Israel reported.

The two gunmen were reportedly flanked and killed by the deputy commander of the Ari Battalion, a company commander, and an officer of the Paratroopers Brigade’s 101st Battalion who’d been stationed nearby.

After killing the two Palestinians, the IDF searched their vehicle and found a large stash of ammunition. The IDF now suspects the two had planned to carry out “a mass-casualty attack” on Israelis, according to The Times of Israel.

The IDF and Shin Bet, which is Israel’s internal security and counterintelligence service, are now reportedly investigating whether the men acted alone or were part of a larger terror plot.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu posted a video to social media later Friday morning warning of extreme consequences for the residents of the West Bank:

U.S. intelligence has warned that Iranian plots to kill Americans abroad have reached “advanced stages,” as Washington reduces diplomatic staffing across the Middle East amid mounting threats and the prospect of renewed military strikes against Tehran.

The warning was contained in an unclassified October 23 memorandum from Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to Secretary of State Marco Rubio, obtained and published by Axios, which reported that the intelligence was among the factors driving the diplomatic drawdowns.

“Through various channels, we have received intelligence that Iran has substantially increased efforts to target U.S. personnel,” Clayton wrote. “The lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against U.S. citizens have reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries.”

The memorandum, which also copied CIA Director John Ratcliffe, warned that intelligence concerning the Iranian threats was relevant to more State Department personnel than were currently cleared to receive it.

Clayton said the information had already been shared with appropriately cleared senior State Department officials and offered to downgrade as much of the sensitive intelligence as possible so Rubio could distribute it more widely.

The document did not identify specific targets, disclose the nature of the alleged plots, or name the countries outside the Middle East where Americans could be at risk.

U.S. officials have separately confirmed the memorandum’s authenticity to multiple news outlets, including CNN, which also obtained a copy. A U.S. official told Al Arabiya English Washington correspondent Joseph Haboush that Iranian plots targeting American officials, alongside threats of attacks by the Iranian-backed Houthis, were informing staffing adjustments at U.S. embassies operating under restrictions across the Middle East.

The warning comes as the State Department reduces its diplomatic presence across the Middle East in response to threats from Iran and its Houthi allies.

Earlier this week, Washington ordered nonessential personnel and family members to leave its embassy in Riyadh and consulates in Jeddah and Dhahran amid intensified Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia.

CNN first reported Friday on staffing adjustments at several diplomatic posts, including facilities in Bahrain and Kuwait, as American officials weighed the possibility of a broader regional confrontation.

On Friday, the department also ordered staffing reductions at U.S. embassies in the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Qatar and Jordan, according to a U.S. official cited in the report.

“We decided that due to the threat of Houthi attacks and Iranian terror plots we need to reduce our footprint and keep only essential staff,” the official said.

The security measures come amid increasingly explicit Iranian threats against American forces and military installations across the region.

On Thursday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps threatened to extend the conflict to American military bases in the region if U.S. forces continued escorting vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

“The US military must know that if this trend continues, the conflict will extend to its bases in the region,” the IRGC warned.

Separately, Reuters reported Friday that two senior Iranian security officials had described contingency plans for broader retaliation if Washington or Israel resumed strikes, including attacks against undersea communications cables and military installations.

“If Iran is attacked, there will be no more red lines… from undersea cables to military bases, including covert ones,” one official warned.

The developments come as President Donald Trump has escalated his warnings of renewed military action against Iran, threatening Friday to launch another round of Operation Epic Fury unless Tehran reaches an agreement with Washington.

“We may do another little Epic Fury, or they’ll agree,” Trump told supporters at a campaign rally in Fort Myers, Florida.

U.S. embassies and military bases are being evacuated across the Middle East following revelations of Iranian terror and assassination plots in the region.

Not all consulates and embassies have been fully evacuated, but personnel levels have been drastically reduced and remaining employees are on “heightened alert,” per The New York Times.

A Director of National Intelligence (DNI) memorandum sent to Secretary of State Marco Rubio Friday warned that danger to employees in the region was imminent.

“Recognizing that the safety of U.S. government personnel abroad is a top priority for the State Department, the Intelligence Community, and the Trump Administration as a whole, it has become clear that certain intelligence and analysis regarding Iranian efforts to target U.S. government officials in the Middle East and certain other areas are relevant to more individuals than are currently cleared to receive this information,” the memo read.

“Specifically, through various channels, we have received intelligence that Iran has substantially increased efforts to target U.S. personnel. The lethal plotting efforts by the Iranians against U.S. citizens have reached advanced stages in both the Middle East and certain other countries.”

As a result, news began breaking that the State Department had begun evacuations early Saturday.

The Wall Street Journal called the evacuation a “sudden exodus” of personnel throughout the region.

The outlet also reported that the U.S. military is gearing up to resume attacks on the Iranian regime.

This has been no secret. Trump openly admitted as much to a crowd on Friday

“We may do another little ‘Epic Fury,’” President Trump told a crowd at a rally in Florida on Friday.
