First round of U.S.-Iran talks in Switzerland postponed!-Posted on The Washington Times-By Vaughn Cockayne, The Washington Times-On June 19, 2026:

Swiss officials on Friday announced that the first round of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, scheduled to be held at the mountaintop resort of Bürgenstock, had been postponed until further notice. 

The Swiss Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Switzerland is still ready to facilitate negotiations between the two nations, adding that “preparatory work” for the talks continues. 

However, Swiss officials provided no details about why the talks were called off or when they may be rescheduled. 

The U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, signed electronically on Wednesday, provides a 60-day ceasefire window during which time both sides are directed to sit down for in-depth negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, its support for proxies and sanctions relief. 

Vice President J.D. Vance was scheduled to fly to the Bürgenstock Resort on Friday for what was originally a signing ceremony for the agreement. But Mr. Vance abruptly canceled the trip late Thursday evening. 

A White House spokesperson cited logistical issues as the primary reason the talks were called off.

“As the Vice President said at his press conference, the plans for the upcoming technical talks have not been finalized, and the U.S. delegation has been prepared to depart at the first available opportunity,” the spokesperson wrote in a statement. “But the logistics of these negotiations have never been simple or predictable. As of now the Vice President is not departing tonight.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Friday that the meeting had been postponed, adding that the electronic signing on Wednesday had lessened the urgency of the meeting. 

Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the U.S. and Iran are still talking through mediators and that negotiations will continue once the conditions of the memorandum of understanding are met. 

The delay comes after Israel launched airstrikes across southern Lebanon on Friday, killing at least more than 40 people and adding pressure to the U.S.-Iran agreement.  

Iran has insisted for weeks that Israel’s continued airstrikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon violate the agreement, which calls for a ceasefire on all fronts of the war. 

Israeli officials in recent days have openly refused to withdraw their forces from southern Lebanon, where they maintain a wide “security zone.”

Breaking: US Brokers Lebanon Ceasefire After Escalation Derails Peace Talks with Iran!-Posted on The Western Journal-By Jack Davis-On June 19, 2026:

Talks between Iran and the United States went up in smoke Friday after Israel slammed Hezbollah targets in the aftermath of an attack that killed four Israeli soldiers.

A ceasefire brokered by the U.S. and Qatar was said to take effect Friday, according to The Times of Israel.

However, it was unclear when talks between the U.S. and Iran would take place.

Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry announced on Friday that planned talks would not take place, according to Politico.

Vice President J.D. Vance, who had been planning to make the trip, canceled his plans, according to Reuters.

“The logistics of these negotiations have never been simple or predictable,” a White House representative said.

Iran has demanded that Israel cease its attacks on Hezbollah, its Lebanon-based terror proxy, as a condition of its peace deal with the United States.

However, on Thursday, a Hezbollah IED exploded, killing four Israeli soldiers and wounding five more, according to NBC News.

Israel responded with attacks that left what Lebanese officials said were 18 people dead.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he called for an attack “with force” after the “blatant violation” of a previous ceasefire.

The Israeli Defense Forces attacked “more than 80 terror targets and eliminated dozens of terrorists,” Netanyahu said.

“As I have made clear unequivocally, including yesterday: Israel will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon for as long as necessary to protect the northern communities,” he added.

Iran has said it will not move forward with the peace framework it agreed to if Hezbollah is attacked.

Iranian and Israeli officials traded bellicose statements, as noted by CNN.

Israel National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir said “all of Lebanon should burn” after the Hezbollah attack.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi fired back, saying, “This is not a rant by a random genocidal lunatic. It’s a public post by the national security minister of the Israeli regime.

President Trump has a message for Americans regarding the memorandum of understanding with Iran: let's "play it out." 

In a series of posts on Truth Social, the president sought to remind Americans of the extensive damage inflicted on what he called the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. Trump said it was the Iranian regime, not the United States, that came to the negotiating table out of desperation. 

He went on to argue that Americans should allow the next 60 days of detailed and technical negotiations to unfold to determine whether Iran is genuinely willing to negotiate in good faith. After all, if Tehran chooses to play too many games, the president has said he has no hesitation in resuming military operations against the country.

"The War has diminished Iran!" the president wrote on Truth Social. "It doesn’t, any longer, have an Air Force, a Navy, Antiaircraft Equipment, Radar, or practically anything else, and yet the Dumocrats say that Iran is better off now than it was four months ago. Can you imagine getting away with that??? How stupid can some people be??? President DJT."

"We didn’t meet out of desperation, Iran did," Trump added in a separate post. "They are FINISHED! We’ll play out the 60 days. They get no money, not ten cents!"

This comes as controversy and speculation have surrounded the Trump administration's Iran deal. Critics have pointed to provisions they claim would provide Iran with a $300 billion reconstruction fund, interfere with Israel's ability to defend itself, or allow Tehran to immediately resume oil exports. 

The administration has pushed back on those concerns, arguing that Iran will not receive significant benefits without first engaging in a lengthy process of concessions and negotiations with the United States. Officials have been particularly forceful in addressing claims about the $300 billion reconstruction fund, insisting that any such funding would not come from American taxpayers and would be contingent on Iran meeting a series of obligations.
