“Even U.S. President Barack Obama cannot perform miracles in the Middle East,” Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin told outgoing U.S. ambassador James Cunningham Monday night.
“There are no shortcuts in the Middle East,” Rivlin explained to the envoy, who is finishing his three-year term ofservice in Israel. “The Americans think that if we surrender everything, there will be peace. This is a mistake. The Palestinian Authority is not mature enough to make responsible decisions.”
The Speaker told Cunningham that Israelis “feel the atmosphere in the White House has worsened, and the feeling is that President Obama feels Israel is more of a burden than a strategic asset.”
Rivlin added that Israelis were disappointed that the president skipped over Israel during his visit to Cairo two years ago, when he delivered his “reaching out to Muslims” speech.
Cunningham replied that the feeling is unjustified and that President Obama will visit Israel. However, he did not indicate a date or even whether the trip will happen this year.
President Obama is certain to visit Israel before the 2012 election, when he will be campaigning for a second term inoffice. Cunningham is being replaced by Daniel Shapiro.
In his parting remarks to Cunningham, Rivlin also stated that he “would not want to depend on the Americans in the face of a dangerous situation” of an armed Palestinian Authority. He said Israeli leaders across the political spectrum oppose allowing the Palestinian Authority to have an army and added, “PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has refrained from terror but is not prepared to say out loud that the interest of the Palestinian Authority Arab is to live in peace alongside Israel with only one army [the IDF] between the Mediterranean Sea and Jordan."
Abbas has rejected forming a country without an army although it already has a large security service, which officially is called a “police force” to circumvent the Oslo Accords that prohibit its being militarized. The “police officers” have been trained by American generals.”

“The government has warned airlines that terrorists are considering surgically implanting explosives into people in an attempt to circumvent screening procedures, according to U.S. officials.
There is no indication of an immediate plot, but the new information could lead to additional screening procedures at the nation’s airports. Existing scanners would not necessarily detect bombs implanted under a person’s skin, experts said.
While the information suggests such a threat would come from overseas rather than domestic groups, federal officials are ordering precautions both in the U.S. and abroad, the official said.
The idea of surgically implanting bombs has been examined by intelligence agencies in the past, but new information has suggested that terrorist groups are seriously considering the technique, officials said.
A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, Nicholas Kimball, said that passengers flying to the United States are likely to face additional screening measures.
“These measures are designed to be unpredictable, so passengers should not expect to see the same activity at every international airport,” Kimball said.
“Measures may include interaction with passengers, in addition to the use of other screening methods such as pat-downs and the use of enhanced tools and technologies.”
Existing scanners cannot detect certain explosive materials like PETN under the skin. They would have to rely on explosive trace detection swabs to detect bombs under the skin, and those are only conducted on a fraction of the passengers.”

Last February, I decided to create my own domain on the Internet—to blog my philosophy. I’m astounded! I’m receiving thousands of highly favorable comments. Who knows how many are reading my blogs? How much influence am I having on the future?
Someone is worried about the influence I’m having. A problem occurred from having linked responders on other of my blogs with “My Miracle Message,” the blog that launched www.mymiraclemessage.com. Instead of my responders being linked, I suddenly received a message that “My Miracle Message” was being archived. I’m not sure where that message originated. It appeared when I checked out my linking language. I’m suspicious. That message was followed by a message from Microsoft that an update was available for my windows software, I suppose “Word” in my new Apple, which is Microsoft’s. Why on earth would Microsoft archive my blog? Microsoft’s update fixes vulnerability to attackers who can overwrite the contents of my new Apple computer’s memory with malicious code. So, there’s the answer. For the first time, I wrote a blog on Word in Apple. Who archived “My Miracle Message?” I’ve had similar problems with Microsoft on my PC, mysterious messages appearing, one being that my new PC computer was about to crash and my extended warranty didn’t cover me. My computer was saved by a technician in India Microsoft uses. It cost me $190 to save my computer. Microsoft is getting better with my PC, but Apple doesn’t have the problem, so I’m told. I want you to be aware that for the first time I had used my new Apple for this purpose, my most important message was archived. When I tried to download the Microsoft update, I received an error message and notice that I should contact Apple. Tell Apple they are wrong. If you intend on using it on the Internet, don’t buy an Apple.
My blog is political. Politicians are aware that one-on-one Internet communication is having an effect. The money they use to buy elections may not work anymore. If we want the American people to decide who represents us, in the face of the Obama Administration efforts to limit the Internet and buy the election, it is important that we do what we can to promote one-on-one communication.
My Internet host is Bluehost and my format provider is WordPress. This combination happens to be popular with entrepreneurs with something to sell on the Internet. Most, if not all of the comments I receive are from entrepreneurs. This, in and of itself, gives you important information upon which to base the future.
We receive the media message that Obama, in the last quarter alone, received $80 million in campaign funds, and that he plans to raise a billion dollars. Obviously, Obama plans to buy his reelection. We don’t receive from the media the message I bring you.
Obama’s Christianity includes “collective salvation.” Obama gives his blessing to the Muslim Brotherhood. I tell you that I’m not Christian, and at the same time that Jesus is my savior and redeemer, also that I believe in human values without allusion to supernatural revelation. We have the Obama/Muslim Brotherhood choice, the Tea Party choice, the Old-Guard Republican choice, and the entrepreneur choice. When I decided to create my own domain on the Internet, at a cost of $12.95 per month, how could I expect to receive any attention without a dime spent for promotion? I know nothing about promoting an Internet site. There are millions of Internet sites. I was a voice in the wilderness. How did these thousands of entrepreneur communicators find my site?

Sen. Ron Johnson, who unseated Democratic Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold last November, mounted a protest last week against Democrats’ failure to produce a budget — an effort that culminated Tuesday when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was forced to yank a bipartisan Libya resolution from the floor.
Sen. Rand Paul, the Kentucky firebrand and tea-party favorite, warned this weekend he would filibuster in an attempt to pry open closed-door debt ceiling negotiations.
And a key reason that the Senate is in session during what should be the chamber’s Fourth of July recess? Freshman GOP senators, including Johnson, Paul, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Marco Rubio of Florida, threatened a recess revolt that would force both parties to take an embarrassing vote to skip town.
The new breed of troublemaker creates problems for Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. They must now deal with an unpredictable, angst-ridden crowd uninterested in the pay-your-dues tradition of the Senate at the same time they’re engaged in tense negotiations over the debt ceiling.
“I think different freshmen have different challenges in adjusting,” said Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.), who was elected last November to fill Joe Biden’s old Senate seat. “I’ve watched as a number of freshman senators — Paul and Sen. Johnson would be examples — decide to throw their oars in the water and express their frustration about particular amendments, procedural points and not being heard by throwing up a hand and stopping the work.
“Pretty quickly that seems to teach a harsh lesson about upsetting not just the other caucus but your own caucus,” Coons said.
Last week, Johnson didn’t bother giving his GOP colleagues a heads up before he stormed onto the Senate floor and warned that he would block all Senate business until Democrats started debating the budget.
Surprised Republican leaders, while sympathetic to the Wisconsinite’s concerns, pulled the rookie aside and urged him to take a less draconian approach, sources said. The plastics manufacturer and political neophyte quickly relented, but he warned he’d object again to routine “unanimous consent” requests if Democrats didn’t change their ways.
He made good on his word Thursday night, objecting to Reid’s request to move directly to a vote on a resolution by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and John McCain (R-Aiz.) that would authorize limited U.S. military operations in Libya. And he issued new threats in a TV interview Tuesday morning even as fellow GOP senators were whipping a cloture vote on the Libya measure.
By that afternoon, the entire 47-member Republican caucus had vowed to vote against the Libya resolution, saying the Senate should focus only on budget matters this week. With the resolution doomed to fail, Reid canceled the vote, saying he and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) agreed that “the most important thing for us to focus on this week is the budget.”
But Reid quickly scheduled a separate vote Wednesday on a nonbinding resolution expressing that millionaires should make “a more meaningful contribution to the deficit-reduction effort,” a proposal panned by Ayotte as a “political stunt on behalf of the majority leader.”
“The United States Senate has not passed a budget in over two years. And I’ve certainly understood how broken Washington is,” Johnson told reporters after Reid scrapped the Libya vote. “The Senate is basically fiddling as America goes bankrupt.”
Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) is expected to preview his fiscal 2012 budget blueprint to his caucus on Wednesday. But he’s reluctant to have the committee or full Senate take up the proposal until a bipartisan deal is reached to raise the debt ceiling before the U.S. reaches its legal borrowing limit on Aug. 2. That explanation hasn’t appeased Johnson, a committee member.
“Last week was a warning,” Johnson later told POLITICO. “I was putting the Senate on notice that unless they start taking these issues up, I’ll withhold my consent. I will make it very difficult to operate the Senate.”
Johnson hasn’t been the only one stirring the pot. In a C-SPAN interview over the weekend, Paul, a co-founder of the Senate Tea Party Caucus, said he would mount a filibuster until the chamber began addressing the nation’s debt crisis. He cheered Reid’s decision to scrap the Libya vote.
“Last week a group of us said, ‘No more.’ We do not want to discuss anything else until we start discussing solutions for the debt, solutions for the looming debt crisis. We said, ‘No more,’” Paul said on the Senate floor Tuesday. “Today, we will win and draw attention back to the debt ceiling. We’re not going to talk about anything until we resolve this.”
But Paul and other freshmen have been putting McConnell in a tricky spot as he and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) try to hash out a deal with the White House on raising the debt limit. Paul, Johnson, Rubio and nine other senators who have signed the so-called Cap, Cut, Balance pledge, said they’ll vote to raise the $14.3 trillion debt ceiling only if Congress passes a balanced budget amendment and other significant spending reforms first.
GOP aides said that McConnell backs a constitutional amendment requiring the government to balance its books each year and that the minority leader is pushing for a vote on the proposal the week of July 18.
But McConnell has resisted efforts to link the amendment with a debt hike, especially given the reality the amendment lacks the 67 votes needed for passage. That position was evident during a GOP news conference McConnell led last week: More than a dozen senators lined up to promote the balanced budget amendment, but not one mentioned the Cut, Cap, Balance pledge.
“Would I prefer that all members of my party felt the same way ... that I do about the Cut, Cap and Balance pledge? The answer is yes,” said Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), another co-founder of the Tea Party Caucus and a staunch supporter of the pledge. “That said, I’m happy with any degree of enthusiasm that there is for the balanced budget amendment, and anything that will help move it forward is a good thing.”
Many of these freshman hope to rally support for their proposal this week, something that would not have been possible had Reid not cancelled the Fourth of July recess — the first time that’s happened since the Watergate scandal.
Rubio, another tea party darling, who defeated favored Florida Gov. Charlie Crist in last year’s GOP primary and went on to win the Senate seat, was one of a handful of freshman who joined senior Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) in pressuring Reid last week not to adjourn.
“This debt thing didn’t sneak up on us. We’ve known about it for months,” Rubio told POLITICO. “I’m just shocked that it’s taken this long to even begin to have this level of anxiety about it. This lack of sense of urgency with regard to these issues is trouble, startling, so I hope that will start to change.
“It’s a good thing that we’ll have to be here,” he added. “It’s a better thing if we actually do something while we’re here.”

“Sen. John Cornyn warned President Obama on Sunday to not even consider interpreting the Constitution’s Fourteenth Amendment to bypass Congress and raise the debt limit without its approval.
“That’s crazy talk. It’s not acceptable for Congress and the president not to do their job and to say somehow the president has the authority then to basically do this by himself,” Cornyn, R-Texas, a former judge on the Texas Supreme Court, told “Fox News Sunday.”
The proposal that Obama re-interpret Section 4 of the Fourteenth Amendment to justify raising the $14.3 trillion debt limit has been gaining traction in Democratic circles since Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner told reporters that the Constitution’s language could support the president’s raising the limit without congressional approval.
‘The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for the payments of pension and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion’—this is the important thing—‘shall not be questioned,’ “ Geithner read during a discussion hosted by Politico in May.
Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and others on Capitol Hill reportedly acknowledged that the idea is percolating, and had been presented to the president.
“It’s certainly worth exploring. I think it needs a little more exploration and study,” he said during a conference call with reporters held Friday.
Without addressing efforts to invoke the Constitution, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., said Sunday the president and congressional negotiators shouldn’t even be discussing a debt deal privately.
“Congress is the constitutional place for this to be decided,” said Sessions, who is the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee.
Asked during a press conference Wednesday whether the debt limit was constitutional, the president glossed over the question, saying, “I’m not a Supreme Court justice, so I’m not going to put my constitutional law professor hat on here.”

“(CNSNews.com) – Six months ahead of the scheduled withdrawal of the last U.S. forces from Iraq, June brought a somber reminder of an earlier time as well as concerns that the months leading up to the exit could produce a fresh increase in violence as insurgents and their supporters maneuver for influence.
U.S. Ambassador to Iraq James Jeffrey on Saturday accused Iranian security agencies of supplying lethal weapons to Shi’ite groups in Iraq but said the U.S. would not be intimidated by those behind the attacks.
Fifteen U.S. troops died in Iraq in June, more than in any single month since June 2009, according to a CNSNews.com database of U.S. military casualties in Iraq since the war began in 2003.
Moreover, 14 of those 15 deaths were combat-related. If that category of fatalities alone is taken into account, then June marked the deadliest month for U.S. personnel since August 2008, a time when the steadily dropping monthly death toll was heading towards single digits, in the aftermath of the troop “surge” that went into full effect a year earlier (see table).
There are currently some 47,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, down from a peak of around 170,000 at the height of the surge. December 31 is the deadline for their departure, although new Defense Secretary Leon Panetta during his confirmation process told a Senate committee he fully expects Baghdad to ask for some troop presence to remain beyond that date.
No formal request has yet been made public, however, and U.S. Forces-Iraq deputy Lt. Gen. Frank G. Helmick during a press roundtable on June 22 stated clearly that “our last order is to go to zero.”
Still, Jeffrey on Saturday reaffirmed that the U.S. would be willing, if asked, to keep some troops in Iraq into 2012.
Helmick said that attacks on U.S. and Iraqi forces and Iraqi civilians have dropped fourfold since 2007, when they averaged some 400 each week. But he also acknowledged concern about an uptick in attacks in the south in recent months.
The U.S. combat-related deaths in June took place in four areas – Baghdad; Wasit, a province located southeast of the capital; Najaf, a key Shi’ite province south of Baghdad; and Diyala, the province located to the northeast of Baghdad and stretching to the Iranian border.
Of the 14 fatalities, nine were attributed to rocket attacks and five to improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The worst single attack occurred on June 6 – a rocket attack on a base near Baghdad airport that killed five soldiers assigned to the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas.
They were Spc. Emilio J. Campo Jr., of Madelia, Minn.; Spc. Michael B. Cook Jr., of Middletown, Ohio; Spc. Christopher B. Fishbeck of Victorville, Calif.; Spc. Robert P. Hartwick of Rockbridge, Ohio; and Pfc. Michael C. Olivieri of Chicago, Ill.
A sixth soldier injured in that attack, Spc. Marcos Cintron of Orlando, Fla., died at a medical facility in Boston on June 16.
The next deadliest attack took place on June 29, when three soldiers assigned to 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment at Fort Hood were killed in a rocket assault on a base at Badrah in Wasit province, near the Iranian border. The Pentagon named them as Capt. Matthew Nielson of Jefferson, Iowa; Capt. David Van Camp of Wheeling, W.Va.; and Spc. Robert Tenney Jr. of Warner Robins, Ga.
On June 8, Pfc. Matthew England of Gainesville, Mo., died when enemy forces attacked his unit with an IED in Najaf province.
On June 13, Staff Sgt. Nicholas Bellard of El Paso, Texas and Sgt. Glenn Sewell of Live Oak, Texas were killed in an IED attack in Wasit province.
On June 26, Staff Sgt. Russell Proctor of Oroville, Calif. and Pfc. Dylan Johnson of Tulsa, Okla. died of wounds sustained in an IED attack in Diyala province.
Wasit no longer quiet:
The violence in Wasit has been an unusual development. According to the CNSNews.com database, Wasit was among the quietest provinces in Iraq over the full period of hostilities that began with the March 2003 invasion.
The very first combat death reported in the province, which stretches southeast of Baghdad to the border with Iran, was in June 2006, when Sgt. Daniel Crabtree of Canton, Ohio was killed in an IED attack on his Humvee.
Wasit was handed over to full Iraqi control in October 2008, and no further U.S. combat deaths were reported there until November 2009, when Staff Sgt. Briand Williams of Sparks, Ga. died from injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire.
Two U.S. soldiers were killed in Wasit during 2010 – Maj. Ronald Daniel Culver Jr. of Shreveport, La. died in an IED attack in May, and Pvt. David Finch of Bath Springs, Tenn. was killed by sniper fire in December.
In the first six months of this year, however, seven American soldiers have been killed in hostile circumstances in Wasit – compared to four over the entire 2003-2010 period.
Apart from the five deaths in two attacks in June, the remaining two combat fatalities were 1st Lt. Omar Vasquez of Hamilton, N.J. and Pvt. Antonio Stiggins of Rio Rancho, N.M., who died of wounds sustained in an IED attack on their unit on April 22.
Wasit was also the location of the one non-combat U.S. death reported during June. The Pentagon said the circumstances surrounding the June 26 death of Sgt. Matthew Gallagher of North Falmouth, Mass. were under investigation.
Iranian hand:
The main threat facing U.S. forces as the withdrawal draws nearer appears to be coming from Iranian-linked Shi’ite groups.
One such organization, Kata’ib Hezbollah, claimed responsibility for the June 6 rocket attack in Baghdad that killed six.
An unnamed U.S. military official quoted by the Associated Press said the type of weapon used in the June 29 rocket attack near the border with Iran also bore the hallmarks of a Shi’ite militia closely linked to Iran.
The U.S. State Department designated Kata’ib Hezbollah as a foreign terrorist organization in mid-2009, accusing it of posing a threat to stability in Iraq and of responsibility for numerous attacks against U.S., Iraqi and other targets since 2007.
Other Iranian-linked Shi’ite extremist groups active in Iraq are Asaib al-Haq (“League of the Righteous”) and the Promise Day Brigade.
Jeffrey told reporters at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad on Saturday that Kata’ib Hezbollah and Asaib al-Haq “are basically nothing more than thuggish clones of their IRGC-Qods Force masters,” referring to the notorious Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ unit responsible for operations abroad.
Jeffrey accused the IRGC-Qods Force of providing “significantly more lethal weapons systems” to groups inside Iraq.
Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi was quoted by the official IRNA news agency Saturday as dismissing as “baseless” U.S. claims about Iranian involvement in fatal attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq.
Vahidi is himself a former head of the IRGC-Qods Force and in that capacity is wanted by the Argentinian authorities on suspicion of involvement in the 1994 suicide truck bombing of a Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, in which 85 people were killed.”

“After reopening Justice Department investigations into use of CIA enhanced interrogation, Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. admitted that he had not read the memos of his own department’s lawyers explaining why no criminal laws had been violated.
Now, John Dunham, the assistant U.S. attorney in Connecticut assigned by Holder to re-investigate the cases, has concluded that the lawyers who closed the case were correct, and no criminal charges are warranted.
The re-investigation subjected former CIA officers to the chilling prospect of going to jail. As seven former CIA directors who served under Republicans and Democrats have said publicly, the probe sent a message to CIA officers that if they take risks in defense of their country, they may suffer consequences.
“If criminal investigations closed by career prosecutors during one administration can so easily be reopened at the direction of political appointees in the next, declinations of prosecution will be rendered meaningless,” the former directors wrote to President Barack Obama.
Such actions create “an atmosphere of continuous jeopardy,” they wrote.
As former Director of Central Intelligence Jim Woolsey, who signed the letter, told me, “For the attorney general to reopen those in the way that he has, says very clearly to CIA officers that, even if your boss tells you to do something and shows you that he has Justice Department support, and even if you’re investigated and cleared, it’s not over.”
This is not the first time Holder has embarrassed himself while pursuing a clearly partisan political agenda:
- Holder said he opposed Arizona’s illegal immigration legislation but had not read the new law.
- Holder decided to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in U.S. District Court in New York without asking the police or the FBI whether that would jeopardize the safety of New Yorkers. In the face of bipartisan congressional opposition, he later had to back down.
- Holder testified that he believes the CIA’s enhanced interrogation methods such as waterboarding constitute “torture,” but he said he had not read classified reports that describe what those techniques entail.
If Alberto Gonzales, President George W. Bush’s attorney general, had engaged in such amateurish conduct, the press would have run him out of town. Indeed, it pounced on him over lesser fumbling, and he had to resign.
In a sign that Holder has not learned anything from his missteps, he is continuing an investigation by Dunham into the deaths of two detainees, despite the fact that two U.S. attorneys have already reviewed the cases and declined prosecution.
Just as the patriots who created America 235 years ago today took risks, CIA officers and FBI agents risk their lives every day to ensure that we remain the land of the free. Placing CIA officers in jeopardy for clearly political purposes is an affront to the cause of justice and undermines the safety of us all.

“Still more White House officials, including Attorney General Eric Holder, have ties to an effort funded by billionaire George Soros to push for a new, “progressive” U.S. Constitution.
WND previously reported how President Obama’s regulatory czar, Cass Sunstein, maintained extensive ties to Soros’ funding, particularly with regard to a movement that openly seeks to create a “progressive” consensus on what the U.S. Constitution should provide by the year 2020.
Now, it has emerged that Lisa Brown, Obama’s staff secretary, served as executive director of the Soros-funded American Constitution Society, ACS, a progressive legal organization that was behind the Constitution scheme.
Brown’s White House responsibilities include managing the flow of information, advice and decision-making between staff members and Obama.
Also, Holder has been closely tied to the ACS, serving on the group’s board of directors and even keynoting their 10thanniversary national convention earlier this month.
In 2008, Holder also keynoted their convention. At that event, he reportedly urged young lawyers to get involved in the liberal legal network, saying America would soon be “run by progressives.”
“The pendulum is starting to swing. America run by progressives. Really. It’s about to happen. So we’re going to be looking for people who share our values,” he stated, as captured in a YouTube video.
In April 2005, Sunstein opened up a conference at Yale Law School entitled “The Constitution in 2020,” which sought to change the nature and interpretation of the Constitution by that year.
The event was sponsored by Soros’ Open Society Institute and the Center for American Progress, which is led by John Podesta, who served as co-chair of Obama’s presidential transition team. Podesta’s center is said to be highly influential in helping to craft White House policy.
The Yale event on the Constitution was also sponsored by the ACS, which has been described as a group meant to counter the work of the Federalist Society, which has been at the forefront of the push for a more conservative judiciary since its launch in 1982.
The ACS is the main organization behind the movement to ensure a more “progressive” Constitution. It has received more that $2.2 million from Soros’ Open Society since 2002.
Brown, Obama’s staff secretary, wrote an entry on the blog for the “Constitution 2020” conference at Yale Law School in which she decried conservative interpretations of the Constitution.
She wrote: “Conservatives have captured the intellectual initiative in popular and even much elite discourse. Their success in framing and communicating fundamental conservative principles has contributed to real legal and political change over the last two decades. Will we allow narrow and sterile conservative interpretations of our Constitution’s vital principles and protections to reshape our national character and control our daily lives? Our answer, on this weekend and on every day of the coming years, is a resounding No.”
Like Holder, Sunstein, meanwhile, has spoken at numerous ACS events. For example, he was a speaker at a November 2003 symposium by the American Constitution Society of the University of Chicago School of Law, where Sunstein was a professor.
But it was the 2005 Yale event led in part by Sunstein that has been described as jumpstarting the movement for a“progressive” constitution.
Jeffrey Rosen, a law professor at George Washington University, wrote in a 2009 New York Times Magazine piece about so-called liberal justice: “If this new understanding of legal liberalism can be traced back to a single moment, it was in April 2005, when the American Constitution Society and other progressive groups sponsored a conference at Yale Law School called ‘The Constitution in 2020.’”
New 'Bill of Rights':
The Constitution 2020 movement has plotted a strategy for how liberal lawyers and judges might bring such a constitutional regime into being.
Just before his appearance at the Yale conference, Sunstein wrote a blog entry in which he explained he “will be urging that it is important to resist, on democratic grounds, the idea that the document should be interpreted to reflect the view of the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party.”
Sunstein has also been pushing for a new socialist-style U.S. bill of rights that, among other things, would constitutionally require the government to offer each citizen a “useful” job in the farms or industries of the nation.
According to Sunstein’s new bill of rights, the U.S. government can also intercede to ensure every farmer can sell his product for a good return while the government is granted power to act against “unfair competition” and monopolies in business.
All this and more is contained in Sunstein’s 2004 book, “The Second Bill of Rights: FDR’S Unfinished Revolution and Why We Need It More than Ever.”
In the work, Sunstein advanced the radical notion that welfare rights, including some controversial inceptions, be granted by the state. His inspiration for a new bill of rights came from President Roosevelt’s 1944 proposal of a different, new set of rights.
In his book, Sunstein laid out what he wants to become the new bill of rights, which he calls the Second Bill of Rights:
His mandates include the following:
- The right to a useful and remunerative job in the industries or shops or farms or mines of the nation;
- The right to earn enough to provide adequate food and clothing and recreation;
- The right of every farmer to raise and sell his products at a return that will give him and his family a decent living;
- The right of every businessman, large and small, to trade in an atmosphere of freedom from unfair competition and domination by monopolies at home or abroad;
- The right of every family to a decent home;
- The right to adequate medical care and the opportunity to achieve and enjoy good health;
- The right to adequate protection from the economic fears of old age, sickness, accident and unemployment;
- The right to a good education.
On one page in his book, Sunstein claims he is “not seriously arguing” his bill of rights be “encompassed by anything in the Constitution,” but on the next page he states that “if the nation becomes committed to certain rights, they may migrate into the Constitution itself.”
Later in the book, Sunstein argues that “at a minimum, the second bill should be seen as part and parcel of America’s constitutive commitments.”

“This is a disaster,” said Mark Miller, the Wisconsin Senate Democratic leader, in February after Republican Gov. Scott Walker proposed a budget bill that would curtail the collective bargaining powers of some public employees. Miller predicted catastrophe if the bill were to become law—a charge repeated thousands of times by his fellow Democrats, union officials, and protesters in the streets.
Now the bill is law, and we have some very early evidence of how it is working. And for one beleaguered Wisconsin school district, it’s a godsend, not a disaster.
The Kaukauna School District, in the Fox River Valley of Wisconsin near Appleton, has about 4,200 students and about 400 employees. It has struggled in recent times and this year faced a deficit of $400,000. But after the law went into effect, at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, school officials put in place new policies they estimate will turn that $400,000 deficit into a $1.5 million surplus. And it’s all because of the very provisions that union leaders predicted would be disastrous.
In the past, teachers and other staff at Kaukauna were required to pay 10 percent of the cost of their health insurance coverage and none of their pension costs. Now, they’ll pay 12.6 percent of the cost of their coverage (still well below rates in much of the private sector) and also contribute 5.8 percent of salary to their pensions. The changes will save the school board an estimated $1.2 million this year, according to board President Todd Arnoldussen.
Of course, Wisconsin unions had offered to make benefit concessions during the budget fight. Wouldn’t Kaukauna’s money problems have been solved if Walker had just accepted those concessions and not demanded cutbacks in collective bargaining powers?
“The monetary part of it is not the entire issue,” says Arnoldussen, a political independent who won a spot on the board in a nonpartisan election. Indeed, some of the most important improvements in Kaukauna’s outlook are because of the new limits on collective bargaining.
In the past, Kaukauna’s agreement with the teachers union required the school district to purchase health insurance coverage from something called WEA Trust—a company created by the Wisconsin teachers union. “It was in the collective bargaining agreement that we could only negotiate with them,” says Arnoldussen. “Well, you know what happens when you can only negotiate with one vendor.” This year, WEA Trust told Kaukauna that it would face a significant increase in premiums.
Now, the collective bargaining agreement is gone, and the school district is free to shop around for coverage. And all of a sudden, WEA Trust has changed its position. “With these changes, the schools could go out for bids, and lo and behold, WEA Trust said, ‘We can match the lowest bid,’” says Republican state Rep. Jim Steineke, who represents the area and supports the Walker changes. At least for the moment, Kaukauna is staying with WEA Trust, but saving substantial amounts of money.
Then there are work rules. “In the collective bargaining agreement, high school teachers only had to teach five periods a day, out of seven,” says Arnoldussen. “Now, they’re going to teach six.” In addition, the collective bargaining agreement specified that teachers had to be in the school 37 1/2 hours a week. Now, it will be 40 hours.
The changes mean Kaukauna can reduce the size of its classes—from 31 students to 26 students in high school and from 26 students to 23 students in elementary school. In addition, there will be more teacher time for one-on-one sessions with troubled students. Those changes would not have been possible without the much-maligned changes in collective bargaining.
Teachers’ salaries will stay “relatively the same,” Arnoldussen says, except for higher pension and health care payments. (The top salary is around $80,000 per year, with about $35,000 in additional benefits, for 184 days of work per year—summers off.) Finally, the money saved will be used to hire a few more teachers and institute merit pay.
It is impossible to overstate how bitter and ugly the Wisconsin fight has been, and that bitterness and ugliness continues to this day with efforts to recall senators and an unseemly battle inside the state Supreme Court. But the new law is now a reality, and Gov. Walker recently told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that the measure will gain acceptance “with every day, week and month that goes by that the world doesn’t fall apart.”
In the Kaukauna schools, the world is not only not falling apart—it’s getting better.

“FORTUNE—How many ways are there to sidestep Congress’ refusal to make it easier for unions to organize? Let us count them. No, better than that, let’s add yet another example—this one involving Delta Airlines—to the growing pile of end-runs around Congress to reward a constituency this White House badly needs at its side in next year’s presidential election.
Labor leaders bet big on an Obama victory in 2008, hoping Congress would enact, and the Democratic president would sign, “card-check”—legislation designed to turn around labor’s sagging membership rolls by ending secret-ballot elections in organizing drives. But card-check has never been able to pass the Senate—not even when Democrats took over Congress in 2006. Instead, presidential appointees friendly to labor are deploying agency muscle.
The latest example is taking place largely out of sight—at the National Mediation Board, a little known agency that oversees union elections for railroads and airlines. Late in 2010, flight attendants for the nonunion Delta and its unionized Northwest Airlines (acquired in a 2008 merger) voted thumbs down on joining the Association of Flight Attendants. The board—where two of the three members are former top union officials—reacted by investigating Delta for “interference” in the election, prompted by union claims that the company circulated too much literature.
Another vote is likely to follow, even though this was the third time Delta (DAL, Fortune 500) flight attendants had rejected the union. And here’s another twist: The union lost that November vote even after the NMB changed the rules—in place since the 1930s—to require that only a majority of those who vote, not a majority of the workplace, needs to sign off on unionization.
“They voted under new rules that the unions asked for,” Delta CEO Richard Anderson told Fortune via email. “They’ve done everything asked of them. And because they said no to union representation, their decisions aren’t being respected; they’re being held hostage.”
Two years after the merger, flight attendants are still operating under different pay scales, and face restrictions on transferring to new locations or changing jobs.
On average, nonunion Delta flight attendants take home 12% more than their unionized Northwest counterparts (based on a typical 75-hour-a-month schedule); they enjoy more generous profit-sharing and retirement matches from the company; and they don’t have to dole out $43 a month in union dues. (Delta ranked No. 1 among airlines in this year’s Fortune Most Admired Companies list).
Delta’s pilots and flight superintendents have been unionized for decades, but 85% of its workforce is nonunion—and employees ranging from meteorologists to aircraft maintenance technicians have turned their backs on unions nine times since the merger.
The Delta flight attendant vote offers a telling microcosm of why labor is so desperate to change the rules to make it easier to organize. Only 11.9% of all workers (and only 6.9% of private sector employees) belonged to unions in 2010, compared to 20% in 1983. In the Delta vote, the flight attendants union not only lost 13,000 potential new members, but also 7,000 Northwest flight attendants already paying dues. That’s a big financial hit.
Changing the rules is a strategy also deployed by the higher-profile National Labor Relations Board, where the President opted for a recess appointment of union lawyer Craig Becker after it became clear his confirmation would be blocked by Republicans (backed by alarmed business groups), along with a handful of Democrats. Last week, NLRB proposed sweeping new rules cutting the amount of time available to employers to make their case prior to a union vote—an action the Chamber of Commerce rightly denounced as a “another not so cleverly disguised effort to restrict the ability of employers to express their views” during a union campaign.
That move followed an NLRB action in April accusing Washington-based Boeing (BA, Fortune 500) of illegally investing in a $2 billion assembly facility for its 787 Dreamliner in South Carolina, creating 1,000 new jobs in that right-to-work state. The NLRB claims Boeing is retaliating against striking machinists at its Washington state factories. But South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley more accurately describes the NLRB action as an unprecedented attempt to mandate where a private company can create jobs.
Earlier this month AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka President warned Democratic politicians that they had better deliver for organized labor if they want financial help in the 2012 elections. “For too long, we have been left after Election Day holding a canceled check waving it about—‘Remember us? Remember us? Remember us?’...Well, I don’t know about you, but I’ve had a snootful of that shit,” Trumka declared. “If [political] leaders are not blocking the wrecking ball and advancing the interests of working families across the country, working people will not support them.”
It’s pretty obvious that’s the message the White House and its allies are hearing. But with the economy stuck in mud, it would make more sense to listen to these telling comments from Delta’s Anderson:
“Attacking American businesses directly undermines the administration’s stated goal of encouraging job creation and economic growth. Delta has created new jobs, but unfortunately this environment makes it difficult to predict what we will be able to do going forward.”

“Vice President Joe Biden visited Las Vegas this past Friday to speak at a Teamsters Rally. Biden fired up the more than 1,500 attendees with inflammatory remarks and misstatements against Republicans such as this,
“(Republicans) really believe that a strong U.S. economy rests upon an ever increasing accumulation of wealth and power in the hands of a few enlightened guys they think are smarter than you are,” Biden said. “You are the only thing that stands between the barbarians at the gate and them taking it all over.”
You’ve got to be kidding me, Biden. Are you sure you’re not talking about the Democrat party here? The Democrats and the Liberals are the ones who advocate raiding the private sector to fill their D.C. coffers with wealth and power only to redistribute it in such a way that enslaves a voting bloc and advances their own “enlightened” agenda.
Hard-working men and women like the Teamsters have been duped into believing the lies of the Left for years. The Las Vegas Review Journal quotes Rudy Gardner, 55, of Washington, D.C., as saying…
“I just liked what he was saying about how the rich are trying to kill the rest of the world… People are tired of what is going on.”
Dear Rudy, I’ve got news for you. You’ve got no idea “what is going on.” It’s the rich that create jobs, innovate, and make the world prosper. The Big Government Socialists, however, are living like parasites that will eventually kill their host. Those are the bad guys, Rudy.
And Biden knows better. He’s not stupid. He knows if he says the right things he will get the Unions to vote Democrat again in 2012.
I just hope conservatives will set the record straight and stop the Communist Rhetoric from destroying what’s left of our Republic.”

In Dreams from My Father, Obama celebrates third-world Socialism, but that’s just Marxist-Leninism with a racial overlay. Obama’s ideas are all old and discredited. They have failed from the Soviets to Cambodia. North Korea is facing another mass famine today, so terrible that it can’t even feed its own army.
That is yet another failure of Marxist-Leninism. Over and over and over again. For radicals it doesn’t matter. You have to break a lot of eggs to make that omelet.
Just as Jimmy Carter kicked over the Shah, a crucial pillar of support for American and Israeli security thirty years ago, Obama has just done with Egypt.
By forcing Mubarak to resign, Obama has sabotaged the Egypt-Israel peace treaty of the last 30 years.
Turkey has also radicalized, and nobody in the American media seems to be taking notice. They must know the facts, but they are not telling us.
The United States is standing by or actively sabotaging the moderate Arab states while Turkey and Egypt fall into the“Death to Israel!” camp. Those are the three biggest states, with three of the most modern armies in the Muslim world.
It means that some 200 million people from moderate or friendly states have joined the rejectionist camp, and that Obama has actually reversed the progress toward peace made in 30 years.
It is significant that Jimmy Carter hasn’t said a word about the breakdown of a treaty he “negotiated” (or rather, Anwar Sadat and Menahim Begin did), which is the only foreign policy success of his presidency. Jimmy Carter being who he is, his silence speaks volumes. Carter is now a Hamas and Hezb’allah supporter.
The only formal peace treaty of the last 30 years will be a dead letter if the Muslim Brotherhood takes over Egypt.
The window of opportunity for attacking Iran’s fast-moving nuclear and missile development has now closed. This is equivalent to the Allies in World War II allowing Hitler to develop nuclear weapons and long-range missiles. In the field of nuclear proliferation, if you don’t preempt, you are enabling proliferation.
Obama has now reversed sixty years of American and Western efforts to reverse rogue nuclear proliferation. The horse of Armageddon is out of the barn.
Read that sentence again if you didn’t quite get it the first time, because it’s the biggest, wildest gamble an American president has ever taken.
It is a world catastrophe, and as far as I can tell, it has been done with malice aforethought.
At the same time, Obama has demanded, in public, that Israel give up defensible borders. The so-called “1967 borders”are in fact the ceasefire lines of the 1948 War of Independence, which left Israel nine miles wide at the waist. Obama has therefore actively legitimized sixty years of radical Islamist assaults designed to destroy Israel.
This must be purposeful.
When Obama publicly pushed Mubarak out of power, in the most flagrant act of public imperialism since the Soviets invaded Czechoslovakia, scuttlebutt is that there was a heated argument with Hillary behind the scenes. Obama must have been told what he was really doing in pushing over the biggest pillar of peace in the Middle East.
I’ll bet he was told a hundred times by Admiral Mullen and General Petraeus, even by Hillary, and he did it anyway. Malice aforethought.
Obama is thereby active aiding and abetting the whole “Death to Israel!” movement in the Muslim world. The mullahcracy in Tehran celebrated the fall of the Egypt-Israel peace treaty, by sending two modern warships through the Suez Canal, where their anti-ship missiles can now deny maritime superiority to American and NATO vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean, where Israel happens to live. At the same time, another phony “peace flotilla” against Israel’s coast is being organized, with Code Pink and Hamas elements involved.
One of the ships is named The Audacity of Hope—against which Obama has made no public protest. It is filled with Obama’s personal and political friends, just like the last one was.
Egypt is no longer enforcing the arms blockade against Gaza, so that Hamas will get a flow of missiles if the “peace”flotilla succeeds. The Israeli Navy that protects the coast is now vulnerable to Chinese anti-ship missiles positioned in Egypt, Gaza, and Lebanon.
Lt. Col (ret) Chuck Devore projects a coming blockade against Israel’s two main Mediterranean ports, cutting the major lifeline to Israel’s economy. Egypt has stopped natural gas deliveries already.
Against American Jews, Obama is running his usual Big Lie game. Liberal Jews are falling for it, because they never look at facts. They just listen to the feel-good rhetoric. When war comes, they will blame the victim, because they will not be able to face themselves.
These moves will no doubt lead to a major war in the Middle East, which DeVore predicts for September of this year. The purpose of Obama’s moves, at best, is to put so much murderous pressure on Israel as to force major territorial concessions to the radical rejectionist front. That will put Obama in the driver’s seat. By forcing Israel’s back to the wall, Obama and the left (in cahoots with radical Islamists) believe they can dictate a “permanent peace.”
Obama wants to be the hero who created peace, forever and ever, in the Middle East. As long as Israel is prepared to surrender as a defensible nation.
In the worst case, Obama is prepared to see the violent destruction of Israel.
That’s what he is gambling with, along with a giant hole in NATO defenses in the eastern Mediterranean and Europe. Obama is a high-stakes gambler with other people’s lives.
This leaves Netanyahu and the Israeli government in a deadly double-bind. Israel’s back is against the wall. Its strongest option is to go nuclear when Iran does. Israel can do that simply by (a) making an official statement that it is a nuclear power, or (b) follow India and Pakistan thirty years ago by exploding a bomb. However, if it makes either of those moves, Obama and the United States will turn against Israel at the United Nations, and place nuclear maniac Iranon the same moral footing as modern and democratic Israel. Israel has consistently avoided revealing its nuclear power to avoid just this kind of dilemma.
One rational choice open to Israel is to defy Obama and attack Iran directly—Iran being the most suicidal regime since World War II Japan.
Throughout human history there has never been a suicidal ideology equipped with nuclear weapons and missiles. In the next six months it will probably happen. When it does, the United States will do nothing. The Arabs will go nuclear to protect themselves against Iran’s Shiite imperialism armed with a martyrdom creed and Armageddon weapons.
Since Israel’s nuclear weapons are only to be used as a last resort, it is possible that Israel will turn them against its most dangerous and suicidal tormentor, Iran. With thirty years to prepare, no doubt Israel has thoroughly explored that Samson Option.
However, Obama is quite capable of using the US military to protect Iranian nuclear weapons, rather than trying to stamp them out.
Nuclear proliferation to the Arab states is now a certainty. The Sunni Arabs are far more afraid of Iranian aggression than they fear Israel. Israel has no aggressive intentions, and they all know it. The Arabs never felt they needed nukes before. But when Iran gets its nukes and missiles, the Saudis and Gulf Arabs will import them from Pakistan, possibly along with Pakistani army units in case of Iranian ground invasion. Iran’s Shiite radicals believe they should control the two holy cities of Mecca and Medina, and during the Khomeini years, they tried to overthrow the Saudi monarchy during the hajj.
The Pentagon has just released a humiliating admission that Obama’s vaunted anti-missile defense for Europe against Iranian missiles is never going to work. George W. Bush negotiated workable anti-missile missiles in Poland and the Czech Republic, in the path of Iranian missiles to Europe’s capital cities. Obama sabotaged that plan, leaving Aegis naval ships in various places as a fig leaf. The Pentagon has admitted that Europe is now undefended. Obama’s purpose may be to force Europe to turn against Israel at the United Nations.
The Iranians are blatantly celebrating, and they are now explaining that both the Little Satan and the Great Satan (the United States) will soon be at their mercy.
This is Obama’s Final Solution to the Jewish problem. Charles Krauthammer has defined it eloquently, but not completely.
Israel is now surrounded by lethal enemies on all sides. Egypt has collapsed. Lebanon has surrendered to Hezb’allah. Iran and Syria are in cahoots to achieve Khomeini’s absolutist aims. Israel’s Mediterranean coast is now threatened by Chinese anti-ship missiles, and its two lifeline ports are vulnerable to a blockade. Even Jordan is in the grip of a struggle among radical Islamists, Bedouins, and Palestinians.
If all of Israel’s enemies launched their missiles at the same time, the only option for Israel would be to go nuclear.
If Obama wanted to deliberately sabotage American power and Western security in the Middle East, he could have done nothing more destructive. What Obama has done to the American economy, he has now done to the Middle East. The only rational purpose for this strategic sabotage is to place all the decision power in Obama’s own hands. The irrational purpose, if there is one, is to destroy the security of the United States and its closest allies in the Middle East and southern Europe.
All of America’s allies, including Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea, must be worried sick. If the United States destroys its own European defenses, what is to stop it from destroying its Asian defenses? Just as the Arab countries will soon go nuclear, so will Japan, South Korea, and possibly Taiwan.
By meeting with Ahmadinejad, Russia and China have jumped on what they judge to be the winning side. They have been sitting on the fence, because they don’t want an Islamic martyr regime with nukes next door. Iran is only one hour’s flight by airplane from Russia. Yet today, they have switched to an active pro-Iranian position.
It is the biggest communist gamble since World War II and Mao’s Great Leap Forward.
Obama’s only skill is to be a community agitator, Alinsky-style. To that end he has his own house Jews, like Southern plantations used to have their own house blacks. They pop up all over leftist fronts like J Street and other fronts.
The media try to legitimize those frauds, just like they legitimized a small minority of radical feminists decades ago.
What we are seeing today with Michele Bachmann and Sarah Palin today is a “high-tech lynching,” just as Clarence Thomas said at his Senate hearing about the way the media abused him with rumors of sexual misbehavior. High-tech lynching. Keep that in mind, because that’s who these people are. They don’t lynch people by accident, but with a very clear purpose. They are ruthless, and they have no decency.
Domestically their purpose is to intimidate you and me, just as the KKK did in the Jim Crow South.
Media lynchings create an atmosphere of fear by hanging specific scapegoats from a tree.
Watch it happen to Palin, Bachmann, Herman Cain, and everybody who becomes uppity against Obama. That is how the left aims to win a second term that Obama desperately wants.
Obama’s Jewish problem is the existence of millions of Jews who feel loyal to (a) a genuine belief in God, or (b) a genuine love for Israel, or (c) both.
Obama is fine with self-labeled Jews if they are atheist leftists, and they are willing to risk Israel being erased from the planet. Some of his best friends are Jews In Name Only, as long as they are detached from Israel. And other religions, natch.

They walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two students filing into the already crowded auditorium. With their rich maroon gowns flowing and the traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt..
Dads swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.
This class would NOT pray during the commencements, not by choice, but because of a recent court ruling prohibiting it.
The principal and several students were careful to stay within the guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one asked for blessings on the graduates or their families.
The speeches were nice, but they were routine until the final speech received a standing ovation.
A solitary student walked proudly to the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then, it happened.
All 92 students, every single one of them, suddenly SNEEZED !!!!
The student on stage simply looked at the audience and said,
'GOD BLESS YOU'
And he walked off the stage...
The audience exploded into applause. This graduating class had found a unique way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the court's approval.
Isn't this a wonderful story? Pass it on to all your friends.........and

“A federal court in Tacoma, Wash., has been asked to order that the names of signatories of a state petition seeking to protect traditional marriage be redacted to protect them from death threats from homosexual activists.
“What is becoming increasingly evident,” said James Bopp of the James Madison Center, “is that some groups and individuals, certainly a minority, have resorted to advancing their cause, not by debating the merits of the issue but by discouraging participation in the democratic process itself.
“The First Amendment was designed to ensure that all groups, whatever their persuasion, could participate fully in our republic,” he said. That breaks down when some groups or individuals are cowed into silence for fear that they or their families will be targeted or threatened if they speak up.”
The issue is the some 138,000 Washington state residents who signed a petition in 2009 to repeal a law that gave same-sex partners all the legal rights of married couples. The petition forced a referendum vote in November of that year in which voters decided to sustain the law.
But because the state considers such petitions “public records,” homosexual activists are demanding the names and addresses of the signers in order to post them on the Internet and “publicize on their web sites, in searchable format, the identities of every person who signed the … petition,” according to a new filing seeking nondisclosure of the names.
The groups announcing the plans were KnowThyNeighbor.org and WhoSigned.org, according to the filing.
The filing on behalf of Protect Marriage Washington explains the real problem is the documentation of actual threats that have been made against those who support traditional marriage, a litany of what the Los Angeles Times described as a “vengeful campaign.”
“I will kill you and your family.”
“Oh my God, This woman is so f---ing stupid. Someone please shoot her in the head, again and again. And again.”
“I’m going to kill the pastor.”
“If I had a gun I would have gunned you down along with each and every other supporter…”
“We’re going to kill you.”
“You’re dead. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon … you’re dead.”
“I’m a gay guy who owns guns, and he’s my next target.”
“I warn you, I know how to kill, I’m an ex-special forces person.”
“Get ready for retribution all you bigots.”
"Burn their f---ing churches to the ground, and then tax the charred timbers.”
The evidence included churches marred by graffiti, swastikas on lawns and walls, bricks thrown through windows and doors, adhesive poured into locks, suspicious packages of white powder sent in the mail – “all for nothing more than supporting traditional marriage.”
“On two occasions, both in Washington state, a group called Bash Back! boldly accepted credit for vandalizing houses of worship, writing in one case, ‘when we [graffitied your walls] and glued all the doors shut, we threw open our own doors and tattooed those words on hour (sic) hearts. Welcome to our world s---heads.’”
According to the filing, “When some activists could sense that intimidation was not working … they resorted to threatening the families – even the children – of supporters. In one case, the perpetrator threated to ‘kill’ the supporter’s child and the whole family; in another, to ‘harm’ the supporter’s family; and in another, to rape the supporters’ daughter.”
The reason for the demand for the names and addresses was made clear earlier, according to the filing.
“In an obvious attempt to dissuade people from signing the … petition, two homosexual advocacy groups – Massachusetts-based KnowThyNeighbor.org and Washington-based WhoSigned.org – announced their intentions to obtain the identities of every person who signed the petition; to publicly expose the persons on their respective web sites; and to make their web sites ‘accessible and searchable.’
“Dave Ammons, communications director for Defendant Sam Reed, posted a blog entry on the Secretary of State’s web site explaining that the alleged reason for wanting to publicly expose … petition signers was to get ‘voters to think twice about signing’ … and to allow opponents to ‘be able to talk with their neighbors and townspeople who signed to explain the ramifications.’”
Homosexual promoters have stated publicly they want to post the personal contact information on the Internet so that activists can find them for “uncomfortable conversations.”
“We’ve got affidavits from more than 60 people who were targeted, harassed. There are newspaper reports of more cases. This seems to be a concerted campaign … to attack and stifle the opposition through harassment,” Bopp earlier told WND.
When the court case originated, a judge ruled in favor of the signers’ privacy, but the ruling was overturned by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The U.S. Supreme Court then said that the petitions are open records in general but did not determine the specifics of this controversy.
The current request is for a federal court ruling that instructs Washington Secretary of State Sam Reed not to publish the names and addresses.
According to a statement from Bopp, “The question is, Why do they want them? Not only is it unclear what purpose it would serve to release the names at this point, there is also a very good reason not to release them. Together with its briefing to the court, Protect Marriage Washington presented hundreds of pages of documented examples of threats and reprisals directed at supporters of traditional marriage, not only in Washington but across the country. The evidence includes death threats, extensive vandalism, overt threats of destruction of property, arson and threats of arson, intimidating emails and phone calls, hate mail, mailed envelopes containing white suspicious powder, blacklists, loss of employment and job opportunities, and gross expressions of anti-religious bigotry, including vandalism and threats directed at religious institutions and religious adherents – all for doing nothing more than standing up for traditional marriage.”
The federal court filing said, “The evidence compiled is overwhelming in demonstrating a ‘pattern of threats’ and ‘specific manifestations of public hostility’ … against those who have, often out of a sense of religious conviction, voiced opposition to the homosexual movement. At their core, however, these reprisals are ‘not so much anti-religions as anti-democratic.’”
“When dialogue and disagreement degenerate into the thuggery of intimidation and retaliation, civility is lost, and with it our liberties,” it warned.”

“Two members of Congress have begun to express doubts about Barack Obama’s eligibility in statements that constituents have forwarded to WND, including one from Rep. Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., who said, “Any circumvention of these constitutional requirements would be a slap in the face to the rule of law and our very democracy.”
The second comment came from Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, who told a constituent that it appears the courts should be resolving the issue, not Congress, but he wonders what claims can be brought to Obama’s doorstep.
The comments suggest that members of Congress are breaking away from recommendations from the Congressional Research Service on how to dismiss such questions.
WND reported earlier how Jerry W. Mansfield, an information research specialist in the Knowledge Services Group of the CRS, issued a memo to prepare members of Congress to rebut and defuse questions constituents were asking regarding Obama’s presidential eligibility under the natural-born citizen requirement of the Constitution.

Attached to the memo was an attack piece published by FactCheck.org to dismiss claims that Obama’s short-form Certification of Live Birth, originally published during the 2008 presidential campaign by DailyKos.com, was a forgery.
When Obama released an image of a Hawaiian “Certificate of Live Birth” on April 27, after years of stating that the document was not available, the Hawaii’s Department of Health and governor’s office refused to confirm for WND that the image released was an accurate representation of the state’s records.
WND previously has reported statements from members of Congress that apparently are based on arguments presented in the material provided by CRS, most of them obfuscating the difference between “citizen” and “natural -born citizen” and simply making assumptions about Obama for which the evidence is lacking.
Goodlatte’s comments were reported on the From the Trenches World Report. His office declined to respond to many requests from WND over a period of several days to elaborate on them.
According to writer Mark Schumacher at From the Trenches, Goodlatte’s constituent response was that a president’s qualifications – a natural-born citizen, 35 years of age and a resident in the U.S. for 14 years – have “traditionally been verified by public record and vetting done by the parties. It is crucial that any president-elect meet the eligibility criteria as determined by the U.S. Constitution and provide the necessary assurances of eligibility.”
But he said there is no office or agency in the government that now does any sort of examination of the qualifications.
“I believe that there should be a more formal process of review and validation as a matter of routine certification of candidates. The office of the presidency is undermined if Americans don’t have confidence that the candidates for the highest office in the land are qualified for the position as required by the Constitution,” he explained.
While he noted Obama “recently released to the public the long-form version of his birth certificate,” … concerns “have been raised about the validity of the birth certificate as well as the claim that the president has been using a Social Security number previously issued.”
He said those concerns have been raised “with the relevant oversight committees in Congress and if there is enough evidence and more experts reach the same conclusions then these claims will lead to an investigation.”
He noted his support for a previous proposal in Congress that would have required a candidate’s birth certificate and other documentation “necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility.”
“The United States is a nation based on the rule of law. The Constitution clearly sets forth the qualifications for the office of president, members of the House and Senate, and members of the federal judiciary. Any circumvention of these constitutional requirements would be a slap in the face to the rule of law and our very Democracy. I believe that our Constitution is a solemn contract between the American people and their government,” he wrote.
That congressional proposal was by U.S. Rep. Bill Posey, whose H.R. 1503 said:
“To amend the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 to require the principal campaign committee of a candidate for election to the office of President to include with the committee’s statement of organization a copy of the candidate’s birth certificate, together with such other documentation as may be necessary to establish that the candidate meets the qualifications for eligibility to the Office of President under the Constitution.”
Farenthold’s comments came via email in response to a constituent questioning Obama’s qualifications. The email was forwarded to WND. His office also declined to respond to WND requests for comment.
The email said that while “a lot about Obama doesn’t pass the smell test,” the concern was about what Congress has the authority to do.
“Many of the issues, like the birth certificate, are within the jurisdiction of the courts, not Congress. Our power over the president is impeachment for ‘high crimes and misdemeanors.’ We learned from Clinton that lying, even under oath, probably doesn’t rise to those standards ... so I’m looking for the crime. Perhaps his violation of the war powers act? It’s something my colleagues and I are considering,” the email said.
There appear to be a growing number of questions about Obama. Instead of resolving issues, the image that Obama released to the public on April 27 has raised new ones. For example, during an interview by NBC News’ national investigative correspondent Michael Isikoff, former Hawaii health department chief Chiyome Fukino, who has claimed to have examined the “original” documentation in the state archives, said the original document was “half typed and half handwritten.”
But statement conflicts with the document that Obama released on April 27 from the White House, which his staff members described as “proof positive” of a Hawaiian birth. Only the signatures and dates are “hand-written,” not half the document.

Also, since then, a long list of experts have challenged the validity of the document Obama released. An extensive report from Mara Zebest, who has contributed as author or editor to dozens of books on computer software, reported this image clearly is a fraud.
In fact, with the release of an image of the Hawaiian “Certificate of Live Birth” April 27, some critics charge that he proved his ineligibility, because the document lists Barack Obama Sr. as his father.
A significant number of analysts have concluded that the understanding of “natural-born citizen” at the time it was used in the Constitution was a person born of citizen parents. Obama Jr.’s father was not a citizen of the United States.
The Constitution states: “No Person except a natural-born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President.”
Since the term “natural-born citizen” is not defined in the Constitution, “Where’s the Birth Certificate: The case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President” author Jerome Corsi drew from the writings of Swiss diplomat Emerich de Vattel, whose work is known to have influenced the Founding Fathers. Vattel wrote in “The Law of Nations” in 1758, “The citizens are the members of the civil society, bound to this society by certain duties, and subject to its authority; they equally participate in its advantages. The natives or natural-born citizens are those born in the country of parents who are citizens.”
Corsi said that during research for his book he found the only U.S. Supreme Court case directly on point is Minor v. Happersett, from 1874, in which the court said, “It was never doubted that all children born in a country of parents who were its citizens became themselves, upon their birth, citizens also. These were natives, or natural-born citizens, as distinguished from aliens or foreigners.”
Even Senate Resolution 511, passed in 2008 to declare that John McCain was a natural-born citizen, specified a natural-born citizen would have to be born of two U.S. parents. McCain’s birth in the Panama Canal Zone was regarded by the Senate as an exception that the Founders would have supported. The Senate reasoned that a person should not be disqualified from running for president because the parents were serving in the defense of the nation, Corsi said.
Among the sponsors of that statement was a junior senator named Obama.
The resolution includes two references to “Americans” or “American Citizens” as parents.
Among the statements from members of Congress:
- Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.: “Thank you for your recent e-mail. Senator Obama meets the constitutional requirements for presidential office. Rumors pertaining to his citizenship status have been circulating on the Internet, and this information has been debunked by Snopes.com, which investigates the truth behind Internet rumors.”
- Sen. Mel Martinez, R-Fla.: “Presidential candidates are vetted by voters at least twice – first in the primary elections and again in the general election. President-Elect Obama won the Democratic Party’s nomination after one of the most fiercely contested presidential primaries in American history. And, he has now been duly elected by the majority of voters in the United States. Throughout both the primary and general election, concerns about Mr. Obama’s birthplace were raised. The voters have made clear their view that Mr. Obama meets the qualifications to hold the office of president.”
- Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio: “President Obama has provided several news organizations with a copy of his birth certificate, showing he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961. Hawaii became a state in 1959, and all individuals born in Hawaii after its admission are considered natural-born United States citizens. In addition, the Hawaii State Health Department recently issued a public statement verifying the authenticity of President Obama’s birth certificate.”
- U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Fla.: “The claim that Barack Obama is not a citizen of the U.S. is false. This rumor is simply election year politics.” She referred questioners to Snopes for documentation.
- Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.: “The courts have held that President Obama is a natural-born American citizen. Moreover, in December 2008, the Supreme Court declined to hear a lawsuit challenging Mr. Obama’s eligibility to serve as president, concurring with three other federal courts in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Washington. The courts have confirmed the determination of state officials in Hawaii that health department records prove that Barack Obama was born a U.S. citizen in Honolulu.”
- Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga.: “President Obama demonstrated his citizenship during his campaign by circulating copies of his birth certificate, which showed he was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.”
- Sen. Robert Casey, D-Pa.: “I am confident that Mr. Obama meets all the constitutional requirements to be our 44th president. Mr. Obama has posted a copy of his birth certificate on his campaign website and submitted an additional copy to the independent website FactCheck.org. The birth certificate demonstrates that he was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961, thereby making him a natural-born citizen eligible to be president.”
- U.S. Rep. Wally Herger, R-Calif.: “As you know, some questions were raised about whether President Obama is a natural born citizen. There was a recent lawsuit arguing that he is not eligible for the Presidency for this reason. I understand that the Supreme Court considered hearing this lawsuit, but it ultimately turned down the request to have the case considered before the full court. I further understand that the director of Hawaii’s Department of Health recently confirmed that President Obama was born in Honolulu and has personally verified that her agency has his original birth certificate on record. As you know, the U.S. Congress certified his election on January 8, and he was sworn into office on January 20, 2009. While I may disagree with President Obama on a multitude of issues, he has been elected as President of the United States through a fair process and has shown sufficient documentation, via a state birth certificate, that has been verified as being authentic. In short, therefore, I do not believe sufficient evidence was brought to light to conclude that President Obama was ineligible for the office.”
- U.S. Rep. Paul Hodes, D-N.H.: “President Obama publicly posted his birth certificate on his campaign website which confirms that he was born in Hawaii in 1961. This birth certificate confirms that President Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States, above the age of 35, and is therefore qualified to be President of the United States of America. If you would like to view President Obama’s birth certificate, I encourage you to go to the website http://fightthesmears.com/articles/5/birthcertificate.”
- Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, “The Constitution and federal law require that, among other things, only native-born U.S. citizens (or those born abroad, but only to parents who were both American citizens) may be President of the United States. In President Obama’s case, some individuals have filed lawsuits in state and federal courts alleging that he has not proven that he is an American citizen, but each of those lawsuits have been dismissed. This includes a recent decision by the United States Supreme Court to not review an “application for emergency stay” filed by a New Jersey resident claiming that the President is not a natural born citizen because his father was born in Kenya. Furthermore, both the Director of Hawaii’s Department of Health and the state’s Registrar of Vital Statistics recently confirmed that Mr. Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 4, 1961 and, as such, meets the constitutional citizenship requirements for the presidency. If contrary documentation is produced and verified, this matter will necessarily be resolved by the judicial branch of our government under the Constitution.”
- Sen. Arlen Specter, D-Pa.: “On June 13, 2008, the Obama campaign released a copy of his birth certificate after numerous claims were made about his eligibility to hold the office of President. The released copy created additional questions, because it contained a blacked out department file number and was apparently missing a seal, and it was impossible to detect raised text, a common characteristic of official documents. There were satisfactory answers to such questions, however: the department file number had been blacked out to prevent hackers from breaking into the Health Department’s system, and the State places the seal on the back of the certificate. The website Factcheck.org investigated the matter and provided high-resolution photos taken at multiple angles that revealed the raised text and the seal on the back of the document. ... Accordingly, it has been concluded that President Obama has met the constitutional qualifications to be President of the United States.”
- U.S. Rep Vic Snyder, D-Ark.: “According to State of Hawai’i officials, the Hawai’i State Department of Health has President-elect Obama’s original birth certificate on record in accordance with that state’s policies and procedures.
- Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.: “The U.S. Constitution is our nation’s supreme law and cannot be circumvented for any reason. It is my understanding that state officials in Hawaii have attested to the validity of President Obama’s birth certificate showing that he was born in that state, which would make him a U.S. citizen. I also have read that both of Hawaii’s major newspapers ran birth announcements in August 1961 documenting President Obama’s birth in Honolulu. Based on these documents, most members of Congress from both parties appear satisfied that the president is a U.S. citizen. That would preclude any effort to remove him through the impeachment process, which requires a majority in the House of Representatives and two-thirds of the Senate, on the basis of his constitutional eligibility for office.”
- Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., “As a senator representing Colorado, I want to speak very clearly on this issue. President Barack Obama is a ‘natural born’ citizen of America, and he is eligible to be our nation’s Commander in Chief. The legality of his birth certificate has been verified by numerous federal agencies, third party investigative groups, national media outlets, and primary source documentation. The United States Department of State and the Hawaii Department of Health have both verified the legality of the ‘Certification of Birth’ document provided by President Obama. In addition, highly regarded ‘fact check’ websites such as factcheck.org, snopes.com, and politifact.com support the findings of the federal agencies through their own independent investigations.”
- Sen. Mark. R. Warner, D-Va., “The facts have consistently shown that President Obama was born in the United States. As a natural-born American citizen, he is fully eligible to serve as president of our country.”
- Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., “Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution specifies the qualifications for this executive office. It states that no person except for a natural born American citizen is eligible to run for President of the United States. Also, the candidate must be at least thirty-five years of age and have resided in the United States for at least fourteen years. President Obama meets these constitutional requirements. If you were not already aware, on April 27, 2011 the White House released a copy of President Obama’s long form birth certificate. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on August 4, 1961. According to the Fourteenth Amendment, all persons born in the United States are considered citizens of the United States. Under these criteria, President Obama, a 47-year old U.S. citizen, who has resided in the United States for longer than fourteen years, is eligible to be President.
- Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., “Independent and official investigations as well as legal proceedings have validated President Barack Obama’s eligibility to serve as President of the United States. The Health Director and Head of Vital Statistics for the state of Hawaii (an official source) has also examined and declared the authenticity of the birth certificate and most recently President Obama released his full birth certificate. If change is to take place it’s likely to come in the form of an election. This is part of the reason everyone needs to make sure we vote for the people who will represent our views correctly. This is also why we must continue to talk to our friends and relatives in other states about their own elected officials and encourage them to let their voices be heard.”

I’d like to remind everyone this Independence Day, including agnostics and atheists, that the author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, believed in natural law and nature’s God, without allusion to supernatural revelation. Also, I’d like to remind everyone that the cutting edge of science believes consciousness is elemental and universal, cannot be divided or separated, and is eternal—has all the attributes of “God.” Nothing can exist without consciousness. The Declaration states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,” equal in what other than consciousness? Some of us are more consciously aware than others. You can’t change that. So much for socialism.
On this Independence Day, the President of the United States pushes collective salvation and welcomes the Muslim Brotherhood, after taking an oath that he would protect and defend the Constitution. We are witness to the fact that for twenty years The President’s minister was the Reverend Wright who “god damned” America. Witness Obama’s support of the making of a second Holocaust.
Can we, the people of the United States, so limit our conscious awareness that we can ignore “Higher Law,” the background of American constitutional law? We are presently being tested. Regardless of your religious faith, your Tea Party membership, or any other organized effort, at this point in time, if you are not willing to look within for your answers and act, Independence Day has no meaning. Right now, you are as good as a slave of the state.

Given Barack Obama's penchant for tearing down America and Americans at every possible opportunity, do not be surprised if the Anointed One delivers an apology for the 4th of July.
I envision an Obama Independence Day apology speech to sound something like this:
My Fellow World Citizens:
Two hundred thirty five years ago, on July 4, 1776, a small band of angry white Christian males declared their independence and established a new nation, one that was supposed to bring hope and comfort to human kind all across the world.
Regrettably, instead of providing a beacon of hope for the world to rely on, right wing extremists established a nation of renegade capitalists who have started wars and oppressed hundreds of millions of innocent people in order to secure wealth.
Those right wing extremists, now celebrated in much of America as courageous freedom fighters and patriots guided by the divine power of Jesus Christ, have brought more war, poverty, and death to the world than any other demographic in human history.
Those right wing extremists stole property and assets rightfully belonging to subjects of the British Empire.
Those right wing extremists marched relentlessly, seizing all land between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in the name of "Manifest Destiny" which was their naive way of saying "Jesus made us do it."
Those right wing extremists slaughtered innocent people of color and took away their land and condemned them to live like captured animals.
Those right wing extremists forced English and Christianity down the throats of all people conquered.
Those right wing extremists imported millions of Africans to work as slaves and be considered subhuman because of their race.
Descendants of right wing extremists continued the legacy of treachery by starting world wars and using a devastating nuclear weapon that killed hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese civilians.
Descendants of right wing extremists created a system of capitalism that rewards greed and punishes compassion.
Descendants of right wing extremists created a system of opportunity and prosperity that unfairly embarrasses and humiliates nations, once considered our allies, who cannot match the greed that lurks in the heart of American capitalists.
Descendants of right wing extremists implemented their racism through Jack Crow laws and mob lynching.
Descendants of right wing extremists continued to treat black people as subhuman through government-sponsored discrimination in education, employment, and housing.
Descendants of right wing extremists invaded Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq in the name of spreading freedom when the real objective was oil and other interests considered vital, economically, to the United States.
On and on the list of transgressions by descendants of right wing extremist goes, making America the most despicable and loathsome nation in human history.
Fellow world citizens, I stand before you today as the new president of the United States, committed to ending the legacy of right wing treachery and replacing it with a policy that takes wealth from the successful and gives said wealth to the mediocre and poor.
My administration is committed to slapping a great deal of that "Yankee" arrogance off the faces of right wing extremists so that America can once again be an obedient, nothing special force that works to be liked by other nations.
Know, too, that CHANGE is the objective of my administration.
YES WE CAN! become a nation of followers and mediocre citizens.
Being second best is America's new "Manifest Destiny" under my administration.
Thank you and praise be to the United Nations, Europe, Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro, and President Manuel Zelaya and his family.

My administration is committed to slapping a great deal of that "Yankee" arrogance off the faces of right wing extremists so that America can once again be an obedient, nothing special force that works to be liked by other nations.
Know, too, that CHANGE is the objective of my administration.
YES WE CAN! become a nation of followers and mediocre citizens.
Being second best is America's new "Manifest Destiny" under my administration.
