The New York Times Just Attempted Suicide

The New York Times has had a leftward bias for decades. But the bias has gotten much worse in recent years. It became insufferable when Trump entered the presidential race. Like so many elite institutions who pick their employees from today’s academic consensus mills, the Times saw no reason to treat Trump fairly. To respect his voters or their concerns. Or even to sort out legitimate skepticism about Donald Trump’s attitude toward Russia. You know, from elaborate and poorly-sourced crank conspiracy theories.

And now the Times has done the unforgivable. Rep. Steve Scalise still fights for his life, his family around his hospital bed. America still processes a terrorist attack against one of its three branches of government. And the Times let its bias goad it into lying. Not just lying, libeling.

The Weekly Standard Gets it Right

I can’t improve on Mark Hemingway’s synopsis in The Weekly Standard. So let me just quote him at some length. (Do go read his piece—a scrupulous autopsy of the Times’ credibility.) Hemingway writes:

Yesterday, following the news that a Republican congressmen was shot playing baseball, along with four others, in Virginia, the New York Times wrote what one conservative website is calling the “Worst Editorial In Human History.” Discussion of it has dominated social media, and even a number of notable liberal pundits are appalled.

Here’s the original masthead editorial from the Times:

Not all the details are known yet about what happened in Virginia, but a sickeningly familiar pattern is emerging in the assault: The sniper, James Hodgkinson, who was killed by Capitol Police officers, was surely deranged, and his derangement had found its fuel in politics. Mr. Hodgkinson was a Bernie Sanders supporter and campaign volunteer virulently opposed to President Trump. He posted many anti-Trump messages on social media, including one in March that said “Time to Destroy Trump & Co.”

Was this attack evidence of how vicious American politics has become? Probably. In 2011, when Jared Lee Loughner opened fire in a supermarket parking lot, grievously wounding Representative Gabby Giffords and killing six people, including a 9-year-old girl, the link to political incitement was clear. Before the shooting, Sarah Palin’s political action committee circulated a map of targeted electoral districts that put Ms. Giffords and 19 other Democrats under stylized cross hairs.

Conservatives and right-wing media were quick on Wednesday to demand forceful condemnation of hate speech and crimes by anti-Trump liberals. They’re right. Though there’s no sign of incitement as direct as in the Giffords attack, liberals should of course hold themselves to the same standard of decency that they ask of the right.

After a firestorm of criticism, the Times released a brief, incomplete correction:

An earlier version of this editorial incorrectly stated that a link existed between political incitement and the 2011 shooting of Representative Gabby Giffords. In fact, no such link was established.

Hemingway unpacks that:

Just to recap, Sarah Palin and Tea Partiers were blamed widely for incitement in the media in the immediate aftermath of the Giffords shooting (quite notably in the pages of the Times), even though it was apparent on the day of the shooting that Jared Lee Loughner was paranoid schizophrenic who believed that grammar was a conspiracy to keep people from thinking correct thoughts, a man with no rational political beliefs.

Further, there’s absolutely no evidence that he ever saw the map circulated by Sarah Palin’s political action committee, and the idea that using cross hairs on a map to rhetorically “target” politicians for defeat counts as an incitement to violence is absurd. Politics, like everything else, is full of martial metaphors—”campaign” is a term borrowed from war.

Despite this, two years after the Giffords shooting and long after we knew all about Loughner’s motivations (or lack thereof), a news story in the Times noted that “many criticized Sarah Palin, the former vice-presidential nominee, for using cross hairs on her Web site to identify Democrats like Ms. Giffords who she said should be defeated for re-election,” without noting there’s no link between Loughner and Palin.

Can You Get Fired for Libel Anymore?

Let’s review. The New York Times

distorted the truth about a vicious attack on a U.S. congresswoman.

Attributed real political views to a raving, bipartisan psychotic.

Blamed the attack on a conservative Christian U.S. politician.

It did so on zero evidence, out of clear partisan animus.

All to deflect attention from a murder attempt against a dozen Republican congressmen.

That meets the standard for libel in my book. I’ve read that Gov. Palin is considering a lawsuit, and I hope that she pursues it. The key criterion in court is that the story show “reckless indifference to the truth,” and evidence of malice. The Times managed to check both boxes.

Keep in mind that this is a paper which years back met charges of rampant bias by appointing an independent “Public Editor” to supervise its content. They just dismissed him as unnecessary. Oops.

Journalistic Malpractice

This is not just an instance of left-wing bias. It is a journalistic scandal. To see how profound it is, turn things around. Imagine if:

Some pro-lifer had shot at Supreme Court justices, shouting, “I want to kill all the pro-Roe judges!”

Then the next day Fox News tried to deflect the political fallout by citing the violence committed by some drooling meth-addict with a Hillary Clinton bumper sticker.

And it blamed Clinton for inciting him.

That’s how unhinged are the minds, cankered the souls, that produced that masthead editorial in the New York Times.

The New York Times should do more than publish some bland, incomplete retraction. It should fire every member of the editorial board who approved that toxic and cruel editorial. The Times should apologize to Governor Palin, and give her a weekly Op-Ed column for six months. It should then try to locate some fair-minded liberals. Writers with a deep respect for the truth and some emotional distance. Then appoint them instead to run its editorial page.

They will be hard to find. The “elite” schools that produce such writers have abandoned objectivity, fairness, free speech, and other Western values as products of the white male patriarchy. Scholars at such schools routinely denounce biology and even physics for failing to reflect their leftist agenda. (Follow New Real Peer Review for dozens of such instances.) Instead, students learn a deep-seated relativism toward facts, science, and morals. The only anchor that guides them is naked political aggression, the will to power. The opportunity to crush the morally loathsome, “deplorable” opponent. That’s the hiring pool for the New York Times and most other media.

Do This If You Really Want to Save Trump From Impeachment

I’m going to give those claiming they want to save President Trump from a potential impeachment the benefit of the doubt, although at times like these I seriously wonder whether such benefit should be extended.

I mean, when someone like myself, who didn’t even vote for Trump, seems more earnest in salvaging his presidency than those who shill for him, I have to wonder if some of these people really care about the country. Or do they just want the show (see that as clicks)?

Because advising Trump to fire independent counsel Robert Mueller is arguably the single dumbest strategic advice I’ve ever heard. Beyond it dragging Trump into a credibility war he cannot possibly win versus a man with an impeccable service record (whom the Trump administration appointed in the first place), it also incentivizes Trump to do more of why he has a historically low approval rating.

It’s the political equivalent of telling a friend trying to kick a meth habit, and struggling through withdrawal, to just take a little tweak to tide him over. (When that “little tweak” is what led him to being a junkie in the first place.)

But there is something Trump can absolutely do to make this all go away — at least in the minds of anyone who would even entertain ever voting for him. And he can do it right now, before Mueller issues a single subpoena or conducts a single deposition.

Trump can take a page out of the playbook of his old friends, the Clintons, when they were besieged by scandal, and simply govern well.

Back then, we caught a president committing a crime on tape. Yet most Americans simply shrugged and said, “Why should I care more than his wife does?” They did so because we were in the midst of a robust economic recovery, primarily fueled by the dot.com boom, when the economy was growing three times the current rate.

In other words, the people didn’t want to rock the boat while things were going well. That is especially so since that Al Gore guy would then take over, and he actually believes that crazy economy-killing environmentalist wacko stuff Bubba only paid lip service to.

Since then, the American people’s overall disdain for their political class has only grown. And their expectations for their politicians have eroded all the more as a result — to the point the character of our leaders is largely irrelevant now. Not even those supposedly Sola Scriptura fundamentalist Christians believe character counts anymore.

I don’t approve of that, and I wish that wasn’t the case. But I also wish I had six-pack abs, too. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in politics, it’s that you can’t change an environment any more than you change the weather forecast. So when the meteorologist tells you winter is coming, you can either howl at the monitor or equip yourself to thrive in that environment.

Instead of encouraging Trump to pursue a course of action that will likely end with him before Speaker Pelosi’s Congress pressing impeachment in 2019, supporters of the president should be urging him to use this cynical environment to his advantage. See, the vast majority of those who voted for Trump knew he wasn’t Mr. Virtue. They did so because the other damaged option, Hillary Clinton, would use government as the means to damage them as well.

This is the reason so many Trump voters aren’t moved by his alleged misbehavior. Most who voted for Trump aren’t in this because of his notorious cult of personality, but “because Hillary.” And when your primary investment in a politician is who they aren’t rather than whom they are, you didn’t really have expectations to begin with.

Thus, if Trump just does what he promised to do – repeal Obamacare, cut taxes, protect the border, and kill lots of terrorists – names like Comey and Mueller will simply pass into the Netherrealm of the comments sections of the lefty blogosphere. The rest of America will simply shrug their shoulders and say, “They’re all crooks anyway, but this one at least leaves me alone and kills the bad guys before they kill us.”

I want Trump’s presidency to be successful, regardless of my reservations, for he makes decisions each day that could determine our kids’ futures. If I wanted my previous NeverTrump stance vindicated, I’d just sit by and say nothing while he chose the road to political perdition, and then pridefully utter, “I told you so.”

However, Trump has done some good things when it comes to judicial appointments (I hope), the regulatory state, and foreign policy I’d like him to continue doing. But the odds he’ll get to do so decline every day his focus isn’t on good governing. Russian Hacker Blows Whistle on Alleged Corruption in FBI

A Russian citizen, who is a known hacker in his country, claims the  FBI offered him bribes to take the blame for hacking John Podesta’s email server and stealing thousands of pages, according to a Conservative Base source, John C. Reilly, serving in a federal law enforcement agency.

Yevgeniy Nikulin was arrested in Prague, Czech Republic, on October 5, 2016. The arrest warrant cited allegations of stealing information from Linkedin, Dropbox, and other Internet web sites. He remains in custody while officials decide on whether to extradite him to the United States or to Russia.

Days after the suspected hacker’s arrest, some within the U.S Intelligence community announced they had evidence that alleged Russian officials were responsible for hacking into the DNC email system, stealing documents and turning them over to the owner of the whistleblowing web site Wikileaks, Julian Assange.

According to the Moscow Times, while being detained awaiting trial, the suspect told a Russian news organization that Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents said they’d provide immunity or drop the charges.

The FBI also allegedly promised to grant him U.S. citizenship and pay him handsomely if he admitted to the hacking and stealing of Hillary Clinton’s campaign director and longtime associate John Podesta’s emails in July 2016.

He is wanted by Russian law enforcement for unrelated hacking allegations. Russian government lawyers entered the courtroom fray asking for Nikulin to be sent back to Russia instead of to the United States.

“[They told me:] you will have to confess to breaking into Clinton’s inbox for [U.S. President Donald Trump] on behalf of [Russian President Vladimir Putin],” Nikulin wrote.

In exchange, his interrogators promised U.S. citizenship, an apartment and money, he said according to the Moscow Times. Nikulin said that he refused the deal, but that his U.S. interrogators promised to return.

Czech police confirmed that Nikulin had been interrogated by FBI agents, but did not give any further details, according to Reilly.

Nikulin’s accusations about the FBI are just the latest in a series of incidents that have  made the once premier law enforcement agency a politicized offshoot of the Democratic Party, say local cops. “Thanks to eight years of [President] Obama, and most recently, the leadership of Director James Comey and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, the bureau has taken a turn for the worst.”

Investigation into DNC’s Seth Rich Murder

It appeared the mainstream news media woke up and discovered that a murder of a Democratic National Committee manager may have not been a “robbery gone wrong,” but a case tied to the Wikileaks document dump of information “stolen” from the DNC’s records. That included staff communications and communications with the then-Hillary Clinton for President campaign.

During his recent testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, former FBI director James Comey testified that Lynch directed him to refer to the FBI’s criminal investigation of Hillary Clinton as a “matter,” which “confused and concerned” him and gave him a “queasy feeling.” The benign language employed by Lynch directly tracked the Clinton campaign’s talking points in an effort to downplay the significance and negative ramifications of the criminal probe.

But it gets worse for Lynch, much worse in fact. Circa reports that in closed session before the Intelligence Committee, Comey testified that he confronted Lynch with a sensitive document in which it was suggested that Lynch was going to use her authority and power of her office to thwart prosecution of Clinton irrespective of the FBI’s findings in the email probe. Lynch reportedly stared at the document and then “looked up with a steely silence that lasted for some time, then asked him if he had any other business with her and if not that he should leave her office.”

These strange and rather adversarial interactions with Lynch, coupled with the now infamous 25-minute meeting that Lynch had with Bill Clinton (where the two allegedly discussed grandchildren and golf) at a Phoenix tarmac just days before Hillary was scheduled to testify before the FBI, led Comey to conclude that he needed to make his findings public “to protect the credibility of the investigation.”

The disturbing revelations regarding the nation’s top law enforcement officer and her attempts to interfere with an ongoing FBI investigation have prompted bipartisan calls by a growing chorus of Senate Judiciary Committee members to subpoena Lynch and investigate her conduct. Among those who have called for an investigation are Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Lindsay Graham (R-S.C.) and surprisingly, Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif) the committee’s ranking member and certainly no ally of Donald Trump. Fox reported that on Wednesday, Judiciary Committee chairman, Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) sent a letter to Feinstein noting that the committee will pursue investigations into any efforts to influence FBI investigations. That would presumably include purported efforts by Lynch to influence or even thwart the outcome of the FBI’s email probe. The letter should have been sent days ago following Comey’s testimony and it is unclear why Chairman Grassley dragged his heals on the matter.

But even if Lynch is called before the committee, don’t expect much. Lynch is anything but straight-forward. She is adept at evading and obfuscating. During her testimony before the House Judiciary Committee last year, exasperated congressmen marveled at her seeming inability to provide straight-forward answers to direct questions requiring a simple “yes” or “no” response. 

One frustrated congressman, David Trott (R-Michigan) noted that Lynch refused to answer probative questions on at least 74 occasions. Rep. Trey Gowdy, (R-S.C.), noted that Lynch’s “lack of clarity is bad for the republic.” And Rep Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) bluntly told Lynch that she was “sending a terrible message to the world,” and that her “lack of clarity” before the committee was “pretty stunning.” Rep. Doug Collins (D- Ga) dryly commented that he missed Eric Holder because “at least when he came here he gave us answers.” 

But Lynch remained unfazed by the criticism. Her stoic demeanor throughout the proceedings betrayed the thought-process of a well-connected, high-level law enforcement official who thought she was above the law. Nevertheless the new and troubling revelations provided by the former FBI director in his testimony before the Intelligence Committee have provided committee members with specific, concrete information and not just innuendo. There is now evidence of actual impropriety and not merely the appearance of impropriety. In light of this tangible evidence, it will be interesting to see how the former attorney general will attempt slither her way out of the corrupted hole she dug herself into.

STONE: Well, the overtness of it does. If the investigation were to continue, which it probably will, I think they have to go back to the origins of that leak in January. Who put out that information? Who gave it to The New York Times, The Washington Post, back channel? You have to ask these questions.”

It seems as if some people have said, and I tend to agree – the deep state, the military-industrial complex, the intelligence agencies have their own position and have had it for many years. And they continue to promote the wars that they do in all these countries. Even Obama said I want to close Guantanamo, I want to cut down on Afghanistan, and I want to do this and I want to do that. He didn’t do it. You have to ask yourself who is running the country.

CARLSON: Doesn’t the president get to decide the policies?

STONE: You’d think so, you’d think so. I think we need a thorough examination of what’s going on. I’m shocked at what the CIA did and what Brennan did. It seemed like he was very hostile to Trump, very hostile. And I think Comey carried it out. It was Comey, if anybody, who influenced the election. In my opinion, it was Comey’s declaration that the investigation on Clinton had been dropped and then he reopened it three weeks or two weeks before.

Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller III is expanding his investigation into the Left’s Russian electoral collusion conspiracy theory by examining whether President Trump tried to obstruct justice in the probe, according to the hyper-partisan leak-stenographers at the Washington Post.

It is all nonsense.

Democrats and Never Trump Republicans are setting up perjury traps just as Democrats did during Watergate and countless other investigations. But Donald Trump is no Richard Nixon. There is no evidence Trump covered up a crime, or even that there was an underlying crime to be covered up. But the longer the investigation goes on, the greater the likelihood that someone will innocently contradict himself in a deposition, giving evidence that doesn’t mesh with what was originally said to an FBI investigator. And voila! Someone who wasn’t a criminal goes to prison without forming any bad intent.

The obstruction allegation stems from statements made by former FBI Director James B. Comey who claims President Trump ordered him to end an investigation into former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn’s ties to Russia. Trump denies it even though he has the authority under the Constitution to fire Comey for any reason or no reason at all. Comey himself admitted he served at the pleasure of the president.

If the news report is accurate, it means that the president is under investigation now even though he apparently wasn’t as of May 9, the day he fired Comey, who has since outed himself as a leaker of information about Trump. The notes he took during discussions with Trump are considered his work product and therefore property of the U.S. government that he has a duty to surrender to investigators. Additionally, Comey have committed a crime when he leaked the notes.

“The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal,” said Mark Corallo, on behalf of Marc Kasowitz, Trump’s personal attorney.

Now that the likelihood of Trump or any of his associates being found to have colluded with Russia to rig the last election has dropped to approximately zero for want of evidence, this Deep State-sponsored political theater is moving on to the next best thing: obstruction of justice, a perennial crowd pleaser in the snake pit that is Washington.

And the Left now has an added incentive to push the obstruction narrative because they don't want to talk about how one of their own, unemployed Trump-hating Bernie Sanders supporter James T. Hodgkinson, late of a white cargo van parked on the streets of Alexandria, Va., came close to assassinating House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) at a baseball practice on Wednesday morning.

President Trump, who turned 71 Wednesday, called out the Washington establishment for the all-too-convenient narrative shift.

"They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story. Nice[,]" Trump tweeted yesterday at 6:55 a.m.

This move toward possible obstruction charges by Mueller “marks a major turning point in the nearly year-old FBI investigation, which until recently focused on Russian meddling during the presidential campaign and on whether there was any coordination between the Trump campaign and the Kremlin,” wrote reporters at the Post. “Investigators have also been looking for any evidence of possible financial crimes among Trump associates, officials said.”

The article acknowledges that then-FBI Director Comey had been privately reassuring Trump since January that he personally was not the subject of an investigation.

“Officials say that changed shortly after Comey’s firing,” the newspaper report adds ominously.

Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, National Security Agency (NSA) Director Michael S. Rogers, and recently retired NSA Deputy Director Richard Ledgett have reportedly agreed to talk to Mueller’s investigators.

As the saga continues to unfold, questions are being raised about Mueller’s apparent conflicts of interest that could disqualify him from continuing to serve as special counsel.

Former FBI Assistant Director James Kallstrom said this week to radio host Laura Ingraham that Mueller’s 15-year friendship with Comey is “a huge conflict of interest.”

Because Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from the Russia investigation, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made the decision to appoint Mueller.

“Quite frankly, I was really, really surprised and disappointed with the deputy attorney general, who first-off appointed a special counsel when there was no articulation of any crime whatsoever,” Kallstrom said. “And the statute actually calls for that, so that was ignored.”

Mueller and Comey “are close, close friends and the conflict of interest is so apparent," Kallstrom said. "I mean, did the deputy attorney general not have access to Google? I mean, you know, check these things out? It's just unbelievable. It's off the charts."

"What crime are they going to be investigating? There's not even an articulated crime. In fact, from the words of a wide variety of people on both sides of the politics, there is no crime," Kallstrom said. "The whole thing is a farce in my view. It's just crazy, and I don't know what this guy was thinking, this deputy attorney general."

Meanwhile, in a publicity stunt, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered political asylum to Comey.

“If Comey will be under the threat of political persecution, we are ready to accept him here,” Putin said, comparing Comey leaking notes on conversations with Trump to traitor Edward Snowden whom Russia granted asylum.

“This is strange,” Putin said. “How then is the director of the FBI any different from Snowden? He is not a head of the special services, but a human rights activist.”

Comey need not flee America. The establishment will protect him no matter what.

Special counsel Robert Mueller could have a tough time making an obstruction of justice case stick against President Trump, according to legal analysts, who said he will have to overcome a number of “unique hurdles” — not the least of which is a decades-old Justice Department ruling that a sitting president can’t be charged.

Analysts say it will be up to Mr. Mueller to decide whether to accept the long-standing opinion of the Office of Legal Counsel, which ruled in 1973 and again in 2000 that a president has immunity from criminal prosecution.

It’s also not clear that FBI investigations count as “proceedings” that could be obstructed under one of the legal statutes that might be cited in an obstruction case, according to a legal memo prepared last month by the Congressional Research Service.

“Courts have not reached consensus on whether an FBI investigation meets this standard,” the report says of 18 U.S.C. 1505, which applies generally to obstruction of administrative proceedings.

Mr. Mueller’s office declined to comment Thursday on reports that the special prosecutor’s probe had expanded from Russian meddling in the November presidential election to questions of whether Mr. Trump tried to obstruct the Russia investigation.

Separately, Sen. Richard Burr, North Carolina Republican and chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and Sen. Mark R. Warner, the panel’s ranking Democrat, confirmed their own investigation of Russian hacking and suspected collusion would not be looking into the obstruction of justice claim.

“Obstruction is criminal — there’s a criminal aspect to that,” Mr. Burr told CNN. “It’s never been part of our [investigation].”

But Rep. Adam B. Schiff of California, the ranking Democrat on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, which also is investigating the Russian hacking case, said he is pressing to inquire about obstruction of justice.

“I think it needs to be part of the investigation,” Mr. Schiff told Politico on Thursday. “Congress has to get to the bottom of whether anybody is interfering or obstructing any investigation in any way.”

Several Republican lawmakers said claims of obstruction of justice, which got new life when fired FBI Director James B. Comey testified on Capitol Hill last week, are a distraction.

“What we really need to be looking at is Russian interference, their willingness and desire to hack into our systems,” Rep. Mark Meadows, North Carolina Republican and chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, told The Washington Times.

Mr. Trump, through his Twitter account, was again angrily attacking leaks of a possible obstruction of justice case. He said he was the victim of a “witch hunt” without precedent in U.S. history.

The president again called the Russia probe an attempt by Democrats to distract from their election loss and from the scandals surrounding Hillary Clinton’s email server.

“You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history — led by some very bad and conflicted people!” Mr. Trump tweeted. It was an apparent reference to reports that Mr. Mueller, a former FBI director, was too close to Mr. Comey and that some of the investigators he has recruited have donated to Democratic politicians.

Mr. Trump and his defenders also say the Mueller probe has been a source of damaging leaks, including news of the obstruction of justice investigation and a Washington Post report Thursday evening that the special counsel is reportedly looking into the finances and business dealings of Jared Kushner, Mr. Trump’s son-in-law and a top White House adviser.

Jamie Goerlick, Mr. Kushner’s attorney, said it was not clear what the probe entailed but added, “It would be standard practice for the special counsel to examine financial records to look for anything related to Russia. Mr. Kushner previously volunteered to share with Congress what he knows about Russia-related matters. He will do the same if he is contacted in connection with any other inquiry.”

Mueller’s call

Legal analysts said it will be up to Mr. Mueller, a former FBI director appointed by the deputy attorney general to oversee the probe, to interpret his own boundaries.

“If Mueller concludes that he is bound by the OLC opinions or if he concludes it’s the right conclusion, then there is a genuine issue on how far he can press a criminal investigation into the president’s own conduct,” said Philip Allen Lacovara, a former U.S. deputy solicitor general who served as counsel to Watergate special prosecutors Archibald Cox and Leon Jaworski.

The Office of Legal Counsel opinions — which concluded that “the indictment or criminal prosecution of a sitting president would impermissibly undermine the capacity of the executive branch to perform its constitutionally assigned functions” — coincided with probes into the actions of President Nixon and President Clinton.

Mr. Lacovara advised the Watergate special prosecutors handling the Nixon investigation that the president doesn’t have any sort of unique immunity from the law. Nixon never faced any criminal proceedings before he resigned in 1974 facing impeachment by the House, and he was pardoned shortly after he left the White House by his successor, Gerald Ford.

Whether the Justice Department’s stance would stand up in court is untested, the Congressional Research Service reported.

“The DOJ opinion — issued in 1973 and reiterated in 2000 — shows nonetheless that an obstruction of justice prosecution against a sitting president, as opposed to other members of the executive branch, would face unique hurdles,” the report states.

John Carlin, who was an assistant attorney general for national security in the Obama Justice Department, doesn’t expect Mr. Mueller to test those uncharted waters.

“Mueller, who has spent nearly his entire career working for the Justice Department, seems unlikely to confront the office’s conclusion head-on, given its role as the executive branch’s foremost legal authority,” Mr. Carlin wrote in an analysis published last week in The Washington Post.

The statute governing the appointment of a special counsel states that the counsel “shall comply with the rules, regulations, procedures, practices and policies of the Department of Justice.” But that doesn’t mean the outside investigator does everything the same way agents handling a Justice Department investigation would be required.

For instance, criminal wiretaps sought by the special counsel wouldn’t have to be approved by Justice Department’s criminal division. The special counsel is also expected to seek guidance from offices within the department about polices and practices except in “extraordinary circumstances,” under which doing so might be inappropriate. In that case, he is to consult with Mr. Rosenstein instead.

But concluding that there is a case for obstruction of justice will be a tricky endeavor in and of itself, said Kenneth W. Starr, who acted as an independent counsel investigating President Clinton.

“Obstruction of justice is really a hard crime to make out,” Mr. Starr told CNN on Thursday. “It’s not just that you want the investigation to go away, that you suggested the investigation goes away. You have to take really affirmative action.”

Mr. Starr said it was too soon to determine whether obstruction charges could be substantiated in Mr. Trump’s case. Based on the information made public thus far about Mr. Trump’s interactions with Mr. Comey, Mr. Starr said he didn’t think there was enough evidence to bring such charges.

If charges are not filed, there is some question as to how much Mr. Mueller could choose to make public about the results of his investigation.

The special counsel is required to send a confidential report to the attorney general — in this case to Mr. Rosenstein — detailing the decision made about whether or not to bring charges. But there is no guarantee that such a report would be made public.

Mr. Carlin suggested that congressional leaders should try in advance to obtain assurances that if Mr. Mueller uncovers potential evidence of criminal conduct by Mr. Trump, “that evidence will be disclosed in detail to Congress once the investigation is concluded.”

Mr. Lacovara had another suggestion.

If others are criminally charged, then the special counsel’s team could detail Mr. Trump’s actions in their charging documents and label the president as an unindicted co-conspirator — a tactic employed with Nixon.

Expanding probe

Controversy continued to swirl with a Washington Post report Wednesday in which unidentified sources claimed Mr. Mueller’s investigation had expanded beyond Russian meddling to include an exploration of Mr. Trump’s recent conduct — including the firing of Mr. Comey on May 9.

The Post reported that Mr. Mueller is seeking to interview Trump administration officials uninvolved with the presidential campaign, including Director of National Intelligence Daniel Coats, National Security Agency Director Adm. Michael S. Rogers and former NSA Deputy Director Richard Ledgett, with the goal of assessing whether anyone tried to block the Russia probe.

A spokesman for Mr. Mueller told The Times on Thursday that Office of Special Counsel simply had no comment on the direction of the special counsel’s probe, but Mr. Trump’s personal attorney said through a spokesman that the leaks were “outrageous, inexcusable and illegal.”

A source close to Mr. Coats confirmed that the director of national intelligence would be interviewed by Mr. Mueller but suggested that the director had not been notified by about the focus of the questions. A spokesman for Mr. Coats declined to comment.

An Associated Press poll showed Thursday that a clear majority of Americans believe Mr. Trump tried to interfere with the investigation into whether Russia meddled in the election and possible Trump campaign collusion. Just 1 in 5 said they supported Mr. Trump’s decision to fire Mr. Comey.

The AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll found just over half of Americans say they disapprove of Mr. Trump’s firing of Mr. Comey. The number grows to 79 percent among Democrats. Overall, only 22 percent of Americans support Mr. Comey’s dismissal.

Some unsolicited help came Thursday from an unexpected quarter: the Kremlin, where Russian President Vladimir Putin was holding his annual marathon call-in show for ordinary Russians to ask him questions.

At one point, Mr. Putin jokingly offered “asylum” for the fired Mr. Comey, comparing his case to that of NSA leaker Edward Snowden, who has been living in exile in Russia since 2013.

“It looks weird,” Mr. Putin said, “when the chief of a security agency records his conversation with the commander in chief and then hands it over to media via his friend. What’s the difference then between the FBI director and Mr. Snowden?”

Rosenstein's May memo critical of ex-FBI Director James Comey's performance was among the reasons cited by Trump and others in Comey's firing. Soon after Comey's ouster, Rosenstein -- who had been Comey's direct superior at the Justice Department -- appointed Mueller, a former FBI director himself and a friend of Comey's, to lead a wide-ranging probe, ostensibly focused on Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election but also encompassing a host of allegations made against Trump and his associates.

As soon as Comey was fired, detractors accused Trump of obstruction of justice. Comey had been heading the Russia investigation for the FBI -- but he testified that he told Trump on at least three occasions that the president was not being investigated for any alleged collusion with Russia.

At the same time, Comey said he believed he was ousted because of the Russia probe. And it was recently reported that Mueller had begun looking into Trump for obstruction of justice -- possibly stemming from Trump's alleged efforts to sideline the probe of ex-national security adviser Michael Flynn and statements on the Comey firing citing his dissatisfaction with the Russia probe (aside from the Rosenstein memo).

Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who worked on Trump's presidential campaign, recused himself from the Russia investigation in early March, which is why Rosenstein was the official to appoint Mueller. Trump and Sessions were reported to have been at odds over Sessions' recusal, and the relationship became so fraught that Sessions at one point allegedly offered his resignation -- which Trump rejected.

A newer development is Trump's apparent anger at Rosenstein -- though it may partially explain an odd statement released by Rosenstein on Thursday night. In it, Rosenstein cautions against believing anonymously-sourced articles, perhaps hoping to blunt his boss' growing frustration with a continued drip of leaked stories alleging collusion between the Kremlin and Trump campaign.

“Americans should exercise caution before accepting as true any stories attributed to anonymous ‘officials,’ particularly when they do not identify the country – let alone the branch or agency of government – with which the alleged sources supposedly are affiliated," Rosenstein wrote in the statement. "Americans should be skeptical about anonymous allegations."

Trump's frustration with months of inquiries into his campaign’s alleged connection to Russian officials boiled over on Twitter – again – earlier Friday morning, with Trump writing that none of the myriad congressional, federal or special probes had shown any wrongdoing on his part.

TRUMP RIPS 'WITCH HUNT'

Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, did not comment on the Post report when reached by Fox News, but did say that the special counsel's office "has undertaken stringent controls to prohibit unauthorized disclosures that deal severely with any member who engages in this conduct."

It’s unclear whether this and other leaks are coming from inside or outside the investigation -- for instance, from associates of individuals who are the subject of scrutiny.

Trump and his supporters have repeatedly complained about leaked reports on the progress of Mueller's investigation, many of which have appeared in either the Post or The New York Times.

On Wednesday, the Post reported that Mueller was examining whether Trump has tried to obstruct justice and was seeking interviews with three administration officials: Dan Coats, the director of national intelligence; Michael Rogers, the head of the National Security Agency; and Richard Ledgett, the former NSA deputy director.

Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's personal lawyer, responded Wednesday evening to the Post report by saying: "The FBI leak of information regarding the president is outrageous, inexcusable and illegal."

The Post report cited anonymous sources who were briefed on requests made by investigators. It was not immediately clear whether the FBI was the source of the information.

The president himself took to Twitter Wednesday morning to decry “the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history.” He claimed it’s being “led by some very bad and conflicted people!”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tweeted that Mueller is the tip “of the deep state spear aimed at destroying or at a minimum undermining and crippling the Trump presidency.”

We don’t have to look too hard to find extremist rhetoric from influential people whose appeals for violence are only partially veiled. In March, former attorney general Loretta Lynch made a brief video in which she called for people “who see our rights being assailed, being trampled on and even being rolled back” to follow the example of freedom fighters of the past. “They’ve marched, they’ve bled and yes, some of them died. This is hard. Every good thing is. We have done this before. We can do this again.” The Senate Democrats shared Lynch’s call for street action leading to bloody sacrifice on their Facebook page.

At the Women’s March on Washington the day after Trump’s inauguration, Angela Davis’s appeal for militancy was met with cheers. “Over the next months and years we will be called upon to intensify our demands for social justice to become more militant in our defense of vulnerable populations,” announced Davis, who in 1970 bought the shotgun used two days later to murder a judge. “Those who still defend the supremacy of white male hetero-patriarchy had better watch out,” she concluded. At the same event, pop legend Madonna spoke about her fantasies of “blowing up the White House.”

Liberals frequently complain that conservatives disseminate propaganda to their secretly racist supporters via “dog whistle” tactics, which send the desired message in coded language or gestures. The same liberals have dispensed with high-frequency whistles in favor of a simpler message: “Treason!” Following the now-debunked February 14 New York Times report that Trump’s campaign had been in direct contact with Russian agents before the election, a late-night host commented, “It’s funny because it’s treason.” Comedian Rosie O’Donnell led an anti-Trump rally outside the White House, declaring, “He is going down and so will all of his administration. The charge is treason.”

Joy Behar, host of The View, has claimed that the president’s allegiance to the Kremlin is treasonous, but she is also concerned about his work on behalf of Islamic State caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. “Do you think,” mused Behar, “that because he is the recruiter-in-chief, and by his words he’s getting more people to go on the side of ISIS, that he could be considered treasonous? I mean, that is against the Constitution, that is against America. That’s a treasonous act in my opinion.” Treason, of course, is a capital crime; the constant reiteration of the charge that Trump is a traitor has supplied the groundwork of justification for political violence.

Reputable figures in the media have normalized radical, violent discourse. Popular television writer/producer David Simon tweeted this week, “If Donald Trump fires Robert Mueller and is allowed to do so, pick up a goddamn brick. That's all that’s left to you.” Writing in The Nation, Natasha Lennard praised street violence as “kinetic beauty,” and Angelo Carusone, president of Media Matters, exhorted, “Don’t play footsie with proto-fascism. Fucking smash it.” A protestor at a rally in New York City’s Tompkins Square Park held a sign reading, “Hug a refugee (with permission); Punch a Nazi (with precision.)”

Every policy difference, no matter how trivial, has been cast as a matter of life and death. Proposed changes in federal Medicaid reimbursement practices will consign “tens of thousands of people” to early death, according to Senator Bernie Sanders, while rolling back federal guidelines on transgender bathroom signage will cause more teenagers to kill themselves, according to ThinkProgress. Abandonment of the non-enforceable and voluntary Paris Accord on Climate Change will doom the world to “catastrophe” and imminent mass extinction, according to Jill Stein.

In the last few weeks, the violent rhetoric crossed a fever line. CNN personality Kathy Griffin posed deadpan holding a severed and bloody head resembling Donald Trump; on television the next day, she tearfully denounced the many “old white men” who have supposedly bullied her. New York’s venerable Shakespeare in the Park is currently performing a modern-dress version of Julius Caesar, in which a Trump-qua-Caesar character is murdered every night in a particularly bloody and graphic staging.

Following the shooting, liberal Twitter erupted in cynical snark. Op-ed writer Malcolm Harris wondered if the shooter could plead self-defense, in the event he had a pre-existing condition. Sonia Gupta, a Louisiana former prosecutor, counseled her followers not to be too sad about the wounding of Representative Steve Scalise, because “he’s a racist piece of shit and hateful bigot.” David Frum, though not a liberal, reminded us that “the president is the country's noisiest inciter of political violence,” though the violence he has supposedly incited appears to be mostly from the other side.

Trump’s opponents in the media, academia, and politics can pretend that their calls for radical action were meant metaphorically or in a nonviolent sense. But they are the ones who opened this box of fear, panic, and rage. Let them take responsibility for the climate that now exists.

According to Newsmax, Devine posted many disgusting views all over social media encouraging Democrat Americans to lash out against Republicans.

He also stated that he was not surprised a gunman fired more than 60 shots at Republican lawmakers at a Congressional baseball game practice.

“We are in a war with selfish, foolish and narcissistic rich people. Why is it a shock when things turn violent. #HuntRepublicanCongressmen” in a shocking June 14 Twitter post.

Following these horrific tweets, Devine even agreed to speak with local media to state that he will never apologize for his views.

“I’m not advocating violence, but I’m saying I understand it,” Devine told NJ.com in a phone interview.

“I can recognize why it’s happened, because this is the predictable and preventable outcome of 40 years of increasingly vitriolic, violent, corrupt and corporate-controlled rhetoric,” he continued. “This is the chickens coming home to roost.” 

In a Facebook post, written on the day Scalise was critically injured when a gunman opened fire on Republican lawmakers, Devine stated: “I have little sympathy for the Republican Congressman who got shot today.”

Some social media users tagged the FBI and law enforcement officials in the comment portion of his post, hoping authorities will investigate Devine.

In the wake of the Alexandria shooting on Wednesday, the Huffington Post is scrambling to minimize the damage from a piece that appeared on their website which called for the execution of President Donald Trump and Republicans.

However, even though the publication is trying to hide the piece — titled “Impeachment Is No Longer Enough; Donald Trump Must Face Justice” — like most things on the internet, it won’t go away. And we have a copy of it.

According to The Daily Caller, the piece was published on Saturday and written by Huffington Post contributor Jason Fuller.

“Trump’s impeachment and removal from office are no longer enough,” Fuller wrote, according to the Washington Times.

“Draining the swamp means not only ejecting Trump from the presidency, but also bringing himself and everyone assisting in his agenda up on charges of treason. They must be convicted (there is little room to doubt their guilt).

And then — upon receiving guilty verdicts — they must all be executed under the law. Anything less than capital punishment — or at least life imprisonment without parole in a maximum security detention facility — would send yet another message to the world that America has lost its moral compass.”

t wasn’t just the president and his advisers who he thought should be subject to kangaroo court trials and summary executions, either…

In the piece, Fuller also said Republicans ought to be summarily executed, too.

“Nothing would do more than to convict them of the highest offense defined by our Constitution, and then to deliver the ultimate punishment. Donald Trump deserves nothing less,” Fuller continued.

“Mitch McConnell, Steve Bannon, and Paul Ryan should also share Donald Trump’s fate, for they have done more than practically anyone to protect him and to throw our country under the proverbial bus. In order to survive, we as a nation must deliver the ultimate punishment under the law to all involved in its current destruction.”

While the Huffington Post was busy distancing itself from Fuller’s piece after the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise on Wednesday, Fuller himself refused to back down on insisting the president and Republicans be killed.

“What appears to have garnered the most vitriol was my opinion that President Trump and his co-conspirators within the government should be executed for treason if found guilty in a court of law,” he said in a piece on Medium, conveniently forgetting to mention he had more or less already deemed them guilty.

“In other words: I want President Trump to be fully investigated, face the charges of treason, and then executed under the law should a guilty verdict be attained. […] I 100 percent stand behind every word that I wrote and make no attempts to apologize or to appease the Trump supporters who are unable to comprehend those words.”

He also expressed disappointment that the Huffington Post had disowned the piece, since they had treated Trump “as a racist, misogynist, et al.”

In an astonishingly tone-deaf article, the editorial board of the New York Times on Wednesday ran a story entitled “America’s Lethal Politics.” It can only be classified as leftist propaganda. The obvious goal of the screed was to absolve the Left of any blame for contributing to the mindset of the crazed leftist who attacked congressional Republicans, while at the same time blaming those on the Right for essentially causing the problem of politically motivated violence.

To make their case, the Times’ editors recycled their own fake news from six years ago — the infamous and thoroughly debunked assertion that the mentally ill Jared Lee Loughner, who attacked and severely wounded Rep. Gabby Gifford and killed six others, was motivated by “rhetoric on the right” and Sarah Palin in particular. “The link to political incitement was clear,” the Times editorialized Wednesday. Honestly, the level of hypocrisy displayed by the Times’ editorial board is quite frankly dumbfounding. Not only was it evident that Loughner suffered from mentally illness, it was also well established that what little political convictions he had were so muddled as to defy being classified, and that he was not motivated by politics.

But that information was evidentially too nuanced for the Times. Its editorial board needed to blame Loughner’s attack on conservative political rhetoric and specifically Palin so as to further their carefully constructed narrative that the Right and its defense of the Second Amendment is responsible for all this hatred and violence.

The Times eventually “corrected” its editorial to delete the “link to political incitement was clear” verbiage, but the editors kept the reference to Palin and her map — and thus the implication that she was still to blame. When lies are trotted out as a means of furthering a political agenda, those peddling the lie can no longer be seen as trustworthy or legitimate. The Times’ editors are not journalists but leftist activists who clearly care little for reporting the truth. Is it any wonder Americans no longer trust the mainstream news media?

“We pray for all of the victims of this terrible crime who are still recovering – including Zachary Barth and Matt Mika, both of whom are respected and cherished by so many. We also praise Special Agents Crystal Griner and David Bailey of the Capitol Police for their heroic deeds that saved so many lives. What a great job they did! And we thank all the members of Alexandria Fire, Police and Rescue,” Trump said.

Bailey threw out the opening pitch at the game. He was injured by shrapnel during the shooting and used crutches to walk to the mound. Griner, who is still in the hospital, was shot in the ankle.

“In Washington, we have our disagreements, but we all agree that we are here to serve this nation we love, and the people who call it home. That is the source of unity, and more than ever, we must embrace it,” the president said.

“So on this special night, I leave you with three great American words that for generations have torn down barriers, built bridges of unity, and defied those who have sought to pull us apart. Ladies and gentlemen: let's play ball!” Trump concluded.

Less than 24 hours after a deranged liberal activist opened fire on congressional Republicans at a baseball practice session in Virginia, a driver in Washington, D.C., reportedly veered into a motorcade for President Donald Trump Wednesday, striking a Secret Service agent in the process.

Trump was on his way back to the White House from a visit to the hospital treating House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, the Louisiana Republican who was critically wounded in Wednesday morning’s ballfield attack in Alexandria, Virginia.

According to CNN, the Secret Service “had blocked a street for the President’s return to the White House” when the unnamed driver attempted to enter the motorcade route despite verbal and visual commands to stop.

When one agent tried to block the vehicle’s progress into the route, the unnamed driver struck him, causing the agent to land on the hood of the driver’s Mazda SUV. Thankfully, he only suffered minor injuries.

The unidentified driver was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and failure to obey.

He was then taken to a nearby police station for processing, and it was there that he revealed that he was a driver for Uber and that “he was not paying attention to the Secret Service officer but rather ‘another vehicle,'” according to CNN.

He later appeared in court to face only a failure to obey charge, CNN reported. It’s unclear at this point whether the assault with a dangerous weapon charge has been dropped or is simply being saved for another court hearing.

Regardless, the hijra is bearing fruit in two more Michigan cities overrun with Muslims.

DEARBORN — As the national spotlight on the city intensifies, so have the races for local public office.

Last year’s election campaigns to replace a Dearborn district court judge and state representative developed into an invigorated engagement among residents, especially as Arab Americans threw their hats in the ring.

This year, the mayor’s office, the City’s Clerk’s office and all seven City Council seats will be up for grabs. At press time, 22 residents have already officially expressed interest in running for these seats; 10 of them are of Arab descent.

A half dozen individuals, including local officials and entrepreneurs, are hoping to replace incumbent Mayor Jack O’Reilly, who’s expected to seek reelection.

O’Reilly, the son of the late Mayor John O’Reilly, Sr., became mayor pro-term in December 2006, following the death of former Mayor Michael Guido. He was elected to a partial term in a special election in 2007 and re-elected to a full term in 2009 and again in 2013. He’d previously been City Council president for 17 years, starting in 1989.

The senior O’Reilly was mayor from 1978-1985. He’d previously been the city’s police chief.

At press time, Mayor O’Reilly had only pulled a petition to gather the required 200 signatures to be filed at the city clerk’s office; he has not yet filed it.

Other mayoral contenders include local business developer Hakim Fakhoury, financial planner Jim Parrelly, City Council President Pro-tem Thomas Tafelski and residents Edward Binkley and Afaf Ahmad.

So far, only Fakhoury and Tafelski have filed their petitions.

A dozen residents have pulled petitions to run for City Council, including Councilman Mike Sareini. Four other Arab Americans also aspire to take a seat on the Council: Nada Al-Hanooti, Fayrouz Bazzi, Rifaat Hacham and Ramez Haidar.

Additional prospective candidates include Dearborn Rotary Club President Regan Ford.

Candidates interested in filling the position of city clerk, none of whom have filed petitions yet, include former State Rep. George Darany (D-Dearborn), whose term ended early this year, and residents Nofila Haidar, Fatmeh Saad and John Joseph Schimizzi.

Dearborn Heights is facing shifting demographics, reflecting that of its neighbor, Dearborn, where nearly half of the 22 candidates for city positions are Arab Americans and where the highest concentration of that community resides.

So far, 23 individuals have expressed interest in running for election or reelection to the offices of mayor, treasurer, city clerk and Dearborn Heights City Council, according to Dearborn Heights city documents obtained by The AANews. Six of them are Arab Americans, the highest number of Arab American candidates in an election in the city. All six are competing for the four available City Council positions.

While that hardly compares to Dearborn’s numbers, it marks a significant change from the 2009 election, when only a single Arab American candidate ran for City Council.

The candidates are Bill Bazzi, Dana Mohammad, Houssain Mallad, Ali Berry, Mohamad Baydoun and incumbent Councilman Tom Berry, who is running for reelection.

Berry and Councilman Dave Abdallah, who was elected in 2015, are currently the only Arab Americans on the City Council.

Councilwoman Lisa Hicks-Clayton and retired city police officer Ed Garcia aim to replace current Mayor Dan Paletko, who is also seeking reelection.

At press time, both mayoral contenders have submitted the required petition with 100 signatures at the City Clerk’s office; Paletko has not yet filed.

To date, a total of 18 candidates are competing for the four City Council seats, three of whom have submitted their petitions. Bazzi was one of the three.

Hi! This is a blog post I threw together in response to the recent increase in refugee numbers by Trump’s State Department, in order to convey what it is like living in an Islamizing area. I gave a talk at a luncheon a few months ago that was basically relating my story of how my hometown has been Islamized by refugee resettlement. So it makes sense to do a blog post.

I’m from the Utica, NY area. Utica is the city nicknamed by the UN “the city that loves refugees!” Soon every American city will be a city that loves refugees! Get ready! So I would like to tell you what it is like living in an area where the major city is about 25% (or more) refugee, mainly Muslim

I was born in Utica, a “faded industrial town” along the Mohawk River/Erie Canal corridor, and lived there until I was 8-years-old when my family moved to a nearby small college town. I loved living in Utica because there were lots of families on my block, big Catholic families with lots of kids. You could yard-hop, checking out who was available for play. You could bike around the neighborhood. There were block parties in the summer. My grandmother lived up the street. Life was good.

My father and his father were born and lived in Utica, NY. My father was a judge in Utica, like his father before him. The Catholic school my father attended is now a community center for refugees. After I moved back to the Utica area as an adult I used to recite “Full fathom five” to the children as we drove by my father’s former Catholic school. (Nothing of him that doth fade,/But doth suffer a sea change/Into something rich and strange.)

When I had my first child I was living in New York City. Her father and I divorced when she was a baby, and when she was two-years-old, I beat a hasty retreat back home to Upstate NY. There I met my husband. We got married, we had babies (in that order, ahem), and we settled down outside of Utica.

When I moved back home one of the first things I noticed was that an old Methodist church was being converted into a bright shiny white new mosque. The local paper touted this as immense progress and featured a local woman who had attended the church as a child and was positively brimming with joy it was being turned into a mosque. If that is the general sentiment, then it’s odd that my county went for Trump, right? There are at least two mosques in the city now. They just built another.

Where do I start? Utica had always been “the city that loves refugees” but under Obama things accelerated. Muslim immigrants were suddenly in these local bureaucratic positions where they had power over you. This, in what is probably one of the most corrupt states in the union, where the power of the state is everything.

The social worker at my daughter’s school was a Muslim immigrant. I looked for her profile on the school website, I googled her, I could not find information on her background, resume, qualifications, or educational attainments.

When I began to homeschool my daughter the administrator to whom I had to submit paperwork was a Muslim immigrant. To homeschool in New York State you must submit detailed quarterly reports to an administrator at your local school district. I googled the administrator. He also worked at the local Board of Cooperative Educational Services, but I could not find any other information on his background, resume, qualifications, or educational attainments.

I was friends with the wife of the Orthodox priest at our church, and she told me that this administrator found some problems with her paperwork and challenged her. It turned out she was right about the issue, and he backed down. Comfy little situation, right?

Right before we moved I went to the ER. The nurse practitioner was a Muslim immigrant (Bosnia), and the doctor she worked under was a Muslim immigrant (Pakistan). I remember how during the visit I suddenly became very aware of the cross I always wear around my neck.

In 2012 on the way home from my daughter’s piano lesson, I left my children in the car, ran into the supermarket for ten minutes, and came out to find a man outside my car who informed me he had called the police. I called my husband and my parents and together we waited for the police officer who eventually arrived and arrested me. Lenore Skenazy wrote an account of the incident in the Wall Street Journal. It is pretty accurate except that it wasn’t a suburb, it was a village of less than 2,000 people.

It was a terrible thing to do, but it was not hot (we’re about two hours from the Canadian border), it was the small safe village where I grew up (I think I was the only arrest that week), and I spent half my childhood hanging out in the car with my brother while my mother did errands. My friend sent me a Salon article (I don’t read Salon) about a mom who did the same thing, and she like me was in her hometown where she grew up, and so automatically just living by the rules she grew up with. My mother never got arrested. It didn’t occur to me I would be arrested. That’s my only arrest. So far. But anyway, the point of this story is I was then investigated (and cleared which I hope should be obvious) by CPS.

The CPS worker who investigated me was Muslim.

So let me just summarize: the social worker at the school is Muslim, the administrator who ok’s homeschooling is Muslim, the CPS worker is Muslim, the nurse practitioner at the ER is Muslim, the doctor at the ER is Muslim. These are positions of authority that wield a lot of power.

Are you starting to get the picture?

The spring before we moved Utica made national news because of a federal grant to the local community college (two million dollars) for a (Muslim immigrant) professor to teach teenage (Muslim) refugees how to build drones. The grant didn’t mention explicitly that the drones would be equipped with bombs or anything, so it was all aboveboard. This was going on like down the road from us. My husband assured me he could shoot any drone out of the sky, and I’m sure he could, but curiously enough that didn’t assuage my anxiety, but only exacerbated it. The last thing I needed was my husband getting arrested on federal charges for taking down a drone.

I looked up the Muslim immigrant professor on Linked In. It was an odd career trajectory. It looked like he had been a soccer coach a few years before. It wasn’t exactly clear to me how he had landed his present job where he was getting federal money to train Muslims to build drones…

An Iraqi man travelling from Stockholm to Hallsberg by train launched a brutal attack on passengers after a Muslim woman was asked to show her ticket, accusing them all of racism.

Karim Alaa Hussain, 25, became infuriated when the unnamed woman, who was wearing a veil, was asked to show her rail ticket by a female conductor.

The Muslim woman complained she had already been asked to show her ticket once before, although eyewitnesses say the conductor was “polite and correct”.

Hussain took a different view, according to a report by Fria Tider, corroborated by court documents seen by Breitbart London.

Hussain sprang to his feet and demanded to know why the conductor had asked to see the woman’s ticket, refusing to accept her explanation that she was “only doing her job” and he became “extremely intimidating”.

Other passengers intervened to try and calm him down, but this only increased his anger. He accused them of racism, threatening one of the men in particular and striking him in the face.

Alarmed, Hussain’s victim wrestled him to the floor – but the Iraqi managed to break free and produced a long kitchen knife, stabbing the man four times in the side and back and inflicting critical internal wounds.

Witnesses describe how Hussain then strode around the train cabin “as if he had won the national championship”, brandishing his bloody knife at the terrified passengers and demanding a father and his daughter tell him if they were “also racists”….

He will not be deported from Sweden after his current sentence is completed, having been awarded EU citizenship in 2008 despite having already wracked up several convictions.

Sounds about right. We all know there’s no such thing as Islamic terrorism. And thus no need to do anything about it.

The jihadist sent the Prime Minister’s office an email titled “terrorist Israel” in July 2014. It read: “Something needs to be done to stop Israel or we Muslims will get our revenge. We will wage jihad and slaughter every Israeli and their allies.”

The following month Ahmed began working as a security guard on London’s Crossrail project through a security firm.

He sent further threatening emails to the Australian government, Ofsted and a Sun journalist, warning: “May the British child burning soldiers burn in hell… cowards piss on their graves.”

Ahmed had sent death threats to staff at The French Bookshop in South Kensington on January 17, 2015 with the subheading: “Protect your neck while you are still alive.”

He then made two threatening phone calls to the shop on 22 January, telling the owner: “I’m going to come and stab you, I’m going to come right away and blow up the shop: I’m not afraid of the police, I’m a Muslim.”

Ahmed, who has previously stated that he only recognises Sharia law, admitted two charges of sending malicious communications in November 2015 and was given a 20-week suspended sentence. He was also ordered to perform 300 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £1680 in fines and costs.

But just two months later in January last year, jobless Ahmed was caught on the Syrian border trying to cross into IS-controlled territory. He travelled to Turkey but was returned to the UK after officials detained him at the Syrian border, believing he was trying to cross into the war-torn country.

Ahmed was arrested on January 16 and admitted engaging in conduct in preparation of terrorist acts.

Ahmed was sent back to the cells after shouting: “Wage jihad wherever we are… Target the civilians, tourist sites, tourist sites, inshallah [Allah willing].”

But the part is this.

After Ahmed was arrested a probation officer told him that Islam was a “peaceful and respectful” religion, but he replied: “No. It is a religion of war.”

When is the special counsel going too be fired. It is a conflict of interest. This is getting out of hand.

For years, the street thugs have been agitating, and for years the elites in the Democrat Party have egged them on, giving the violence their imprimatur, legitimacy and sanction. All the while, they blamed the right for unrelated violence. While there was no connection between what a Norway mass-murdering madman did and we what said, what we recommended for countering jihad terrorism and the brutal sharia, the left blew up and blood-libeled us almost to the point of extinction. When it came out in court that this Norwegian madman was inspired to violence by al Qaeda and Hamas, that was never widely reported. The left always blames us for violence, no matter how non-existent the ties. Even when I was the target of an assassination plot in Garland, Texas, for example, the left blamed me because I would not adhere to the blasphemy laws under the sharia.

Bernie Sanders fundraised by blaming Sarah Palin and conservatives in general for the 2011 shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ). The Daily Caller reported that “there was never any actual evidence presented that Jared Loughner, a diagnosed schizophrenic who pleaded guilty to the shooting, was a Palin fan, a Tea Party supporter, or that he had ever seen Palin’s ‘crosshairs’ map” that was widely blamed for the shooting. In fact, according to the Caller, “one friend tweeted that ‘he was left wing, quite liberal.’”

Last week’s shooter in Portland was also a Bernie supporter; he ranted against Christians, Jews and Muslims, but the enemedia reported his shooting of two people as an “Islamophobic” “hate crime.”

I have been covering leftist and Islamic protests for years, and they are rife with hate and violence that never get reported in the mainstream media. My colleague, Pamela Hall, has been indefatigable in covering the rise of the left-wing totalitarians. Followers of my website, the Geller Report, know her work and what it proves: a systematic, organized movement to overthrow American freedoms and install an enemy regime.

At every pro-America, pro-Trump, anti-sharia, counter terrorism protest, leftists show up full of bloodlust and primed for battle. These primitives agitate, incite and attack our people whenever we peacefully assemble. And their stooges in the media, like clockwork, then report what happened as follows: “Violence breaks out at far-right rally…” “Far-right” the media’s term for anyone who doesn’t submit to these goose-stepping, jackbooted thugs. At my rally against CUNY’s invitation to terror-inciter Linda Sarsour to give its commencement address, New York City Mayor “Red Bill” de Blasio directed the NYPD to put the violent leftists not three feet from our people. It was not pretty.

Conservative and pro-Israel speakers are attacked and silenced on the rare occasions they are even invited to speak. Trump supporters have been beaten at rallies and demos in support of the President. From Berkeley to Brooklyn, college campuses have become nothing short of war zones.

As the Daily Wire noted: “In recent years, under the tender tutelage of the Obama Department of Justice, mass violent action by leftists has become commonplace across the country, from the Occupy Wall Street movement to Black Lives Matter-inspired mob violence in Ferguson and Baltimore, from campus chaos at California State University of Los Angeles to this sort of violence at Trump rallies.”

This is not static. This situation on the ground is fluid.  Do the leftists think freedom-lovers will continue to stand down? Does the left want war? They are gong to get it. Because we know where this road leads. We saw this same kind of violent thuggery in the 1930s in Germany. And we have seen what happens when good people do nothing.

As for the “good people” in the Democrat Party, where are they? Where are the mass protests where Democrats proclaim, “Not My Party!” Why aren’t we seeing that the way we are seeing “Not My President!”

If you are a Democrat Party member, you are part of the problem.

Trump Will Be Impeached If Republicans Lose the House

The 1998 midterm election was a debacle for Republicans, particularly then-Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. Since Reconstruction, no president had seen his party gain seats in the House in a midterm election six years into his presidency. Gingrich, who made the election a referendum on impeaching President Bill Clinton, resigned after the loss. Clearly, voters had sent the signal, “Don’t do it” . . .

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has cautioned against making the midterms a referendum on impeachment. But that is an electoral strategy, not a plan for when she gets the speaker’s gavel. And even if she declines to go straight to impeachment hearings on Day 1, a Democratic-controlled House would still be a nightmare for the White House. Any hope of passing a conservative agenda would die instantaneously. Worse, once Democrats gained the power to subpoena documents and compel testimony from members of the administration, the Hobbesian internal politics of today’s White House would look like a company picnic by comparison.

In short, the only hope for the Trump presidency is for the GOP to maintain control of the House.

According to various reports, the GOP thinks it can hold on by running “against the media” in 2018. As pathetic as that would be, it might work. Though I doubt it. A better strategy would be to actually get things done.

And the only way for that to happen is for both houses of Congress to get their act together. Voting bills out of the House may be enough to justify a Rose Garden party, but it will do little to sway voters who’ve been told for years that the GOP needs control of all three branches to do big things. Trump won’t be on the ballot in 2018, but his presidency will hang in the balance. Standing Together Against Evil

As long as the media, entertainers, and other public figures blatantly mock God, authority and laws, we will continue to witness horrific manifestations of evil like we saw in the attack on GOP representatives and senators in Alexandria, Virginia. If Americans continue to cast aside the principles upon which freedom stands, the blessings freedom offers will be lost. There is no substitute for the power of transforming truth that sets us free and keeps us free.

This latest senseless and evil act was not caused by the election of President Trump, his administration, or what he is trying to accomplish for America. The worthy goals he seeks to fulfill are, in fact, necessary to help bring such evil action under control.

It is perfectly appropriate and essential for our nation’s leaders to call for prayer and divine guidance. This call from President Trump, Senator Schumer, Speaker Paul Ryan and others is the right immediate step. Do not accept the foolishness of any individuals or media personalities who attack these calls as somehow unconstitutional or out of place. Prayer is in perfect harmony with the heart of our founding fathers, the spirit of our Constitution, and that which is essential for the future of freedom.

Evil is a Present Reality

Every one of us is distracted by evil, often defeated by evil, divided by evil and, tragically, sometimes destroyed by evil. Evil is a present reality; and calling good evil, or evil good, or light darkness does not solve the problem. Evil affects every one of us on the planet in this present age and will until we are in the kingdom to come, where there will be no evil. Although we are all distracted by it, often deceived, and defeated by it, this individual shooter at the baseball field was sold out to and controlled by evil.

Many of the active forces we witness around the world are acts perpetrated by people who have sold out to evil, and those forces must be resisted and destroyed. This is the rule of God-ordained authority and government of the people, by the people and for the people. (Read Romans 13:1-4.)

A Return to Righteousness and Unity

Right now, it is critically important that everyone who has a relationship with God the Father and Creator pray fervently for a supernatural awakening and a return to true righteousness and unity that only truth can make possible. The invitation from God, “Come now, and let us reason together,” is an invitation to the entire nation to come and reason together. Though our “sins be as scarlet they will become as white as snow.”

There is no substitute for repentance and a return to God. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him” (Isaiah 59:19).

The heated rhetoric must cease on all sides. Instead of name-calling we must be calling on the name.

God still promises, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land” (2 Chron. 7:14). There is hope for the healing God freely offers to those who follow that glorious pathway.  Pruitt Refocuses the EPA on Environmental 

 Cleanup 

Environmental Protection Agency Director Scott Pruitt recently announced a plan to reform the Superfund program, which was established in 1980 to clean up hazardous waste sites. The EPA currently numbers 1,336 sites on its Superfund list, and Pruitt aims to prioritize and accelerate the EPA's efforts in cleaning up these waste sites — an issue for which action is long overdue.

          Many of the efforts to engage in the actual cleaning up of these sites has been stymied by a combination of the inefficacy of government bureaucracy and legal disputes. An example of this inefficient and costly government bureaucracy is seen in Portland Harbor, Oregon, where the EPA listed a Superfund site in 2000. The agency spent millions of dollars and years researching a plan to clean up the site only to eventually throw out the plan and research it again. It was just this past January, right before Donald Trump took office, when Barack liar-nObama's EPA administrator, Gina McCarthy, finally settled on a plan for cleaning up the site. This is only one of many instances where the agency tasked with protecting the nation's environment has wasted time and money, primarily due to bureaucratic distractions.

          Pruitt has directed a task force to review the Superfund program's business and management practices. Part of the reform plan will be to centralize leadership on decisions for projects costing over $50 million, with the aim of removing unnecessary obstacles in order to provide greater efficiency in implementing cleanup plans. This move would also help to cut costs, an important issue for Trump as he has called for a 30% cut to the EPA's projected budget over the next fiscal year.

          If it has to exist at all, it's about time the EPA got back to its original purpose in doing real environmental protection work rather than spending so much time and funding on promoting the Marxist propaganda of climate change.  ~The Patriot Post

Chris Gaubatz on CAIR, the “Red-Green

Axis” and Banning Muslim Immigration

{aim.org} ~ After feigning conversion to Islam at Northern Virginia’s Dar Al-Hijrah mosque and spending several weeks learning how to live as a “Sharia-compliant Muslim,” Chris Gaubatz spent six months working undercover as an intern with the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR).

During an interview on “The Alex Nitzberg Show,” he explained that CAIR holds seminars that train Muslims to cultivate relationships with the media so that they will turn to these Muslims for comment “…after a terrorist attack or after something happens that negatively affects Islam…” They teach attendees “to respond to these attacks” in a way that portrays Islam in “a positive light.”

Gaubatz refers to this as CAIR’s “information campaign” and explains that following terror attacks CAIR utilizes its media contacts to propagate the narrative “that this has nothing to do with Islam.”

“The real narrative is that this has everything to do with Islam,” he asserted.

According to Gaubatz, CAIR uses “interfaith dialogue” to propagate their narrative and “CAIR and other Muslim Brotherhood groups” purposely “get closer to the law enforcement” after terror attacks by offering “sensitivity training” and volunteering to serve as a “liaison” between police and Muslim communities.

“Their whole purpose with this narrative war is to shut the discussion down because if you can shut the discussion down…and distance Islam from any part of the problem, then the people that are charged with protecting citizens are always looking elsewhere for the problem…and the problem is, and always has, been rooted right in Islam and right in the Sharia, they’re intertwined.”

The media’s reporting on CAIR borders on “material support of terrorism,” according to Gaubatz, because reporters regurgitate CAIR’s description of itself as a Muslim civil rights organization without noting CAIR’s connection with Hamas as demonstrated in the Holy Land Foundation trial.

“They don’t even do two seconds of basic research on their own which would show that CAIR is a Hamas organization and has the agenda of Hamas, never giving any kind of balance to any of their stories with very few exceptions,” Gaubatz stated.

While he partially attributes this to reporters’ laziness, Gaubatz also believes the issue is related to the “red-green axis,” the paradoxical alliance between “hard-left Marxist, socialist groups,” (red) and “jihadis” (green) “working together” despite their significant differences because of their shared revolutionary ambitions to radically reshape America. Gaubatz said that some of the staunchest socialist/Marxist radicals are the administrators, teachers and students within university journalism departments.

Gaubatz says the United States should enact a Muslim immigration ban because even if the U.S. could check potential immigrants’ criminal records in a database, “…it still wouldn’t tell us whether their agenda was to advance the Sharia and the jihad here in America, that doesn’t show up on a database.” While he believes some Muslims are “good people,” he said that Sharia-adherence is the “delineating factor.”

He also believes the government should immediately indict the unindicted coconspirators named in the Holy Land Foundation Trial and classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. However, he noted the latter is not currently being considered for this status since the State Department issued a letter recommending against designating the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization.

The Russian investigation blew up in the face of all accusers. As Comey stated, Trump was never under investigation for collusion (whatever that means), so now, the investigation goes into a possible "obstruction case", leaded by Comey's BFF, Muller. This case REAKS of a bias which-hunt, headed by Muller, who has so many conflicts of interest, it is hard to count them all. Regardless of that, Muller has refused to step aside and the which hunt continues...

During Comey's testimony, we learned of ACTUAL, obstruction committed by Loretta Lynch, Comey perjured himself from previous testimonies, etc..etc..etc.. point being, there were actual crimes here committed...

Yesterday, a lunatic leftist shot up Republican lawmakers at a baseball game in the latest act of political terrorism, committed by the lefts brain dead useful idiots...

So my question to you is...Where do we go from here? How do we force the Republicans in these committees, who can do something, to do something? How do we now combat these lunatic leftists on the streets, that literally want to hurt us? Your thoughts please....
