The Affordable Care Act or ObamaCare will go down in history as one of the most poorly designed and miserably failed U.S. social policies ever created. It was passed entirely and unconstitutionally by Democrats by a continuing resolution. Like Social Security it was designed to buy the votes of a poor, ill-informed constituency.  Democrats robbed over half a trillion dollars from Medicaid to finance their sponsors in the insurance industry while expanding the number of employees to run their newly created bureaucracy.  Americans were shamed by Obama and his leftist handlers by spewing data from the one world Euro socialists at W.H.O., rating the U.S. Healthcare System 37^th in the world.  Unfortunately they left out the fact that we were also rated just two steps above Cuba with France, Greece, Italy and other collapsing socialist countries rated in the top ten. Democrats and their media lapdogs were telling Americans in 2009 that U.S. healthcare was the worst in the world while liberal Economists, leftist politicians, insurers and academics were screaming for nanny state government control of U.S. health care.  Obama told us that 50 million Americans were suffering because they did not have health insurance.  What he forgot to tell us was that 8 million of those sampled were not even U.S. citizens. He also forgot to mention that another 20 million of those interviewed had incomes greater than $50,000 per year and could afford to pay for insurance. Also, another 4 million Americans who did not have health insurance were either legally disabled or 65 years old or greater and qualified for Medicare or Medicaid.  Do the math and you will find that there were actually only 18 million Americans who either could not afford Health Insurance or for some other reason chose not to purchase it in 2009.

The 2011 Annual Social and Economic Supplement from the census said that 4 million non-American citizens had received government funded healthcare. Yes, with three quarters of them on Medicaid. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform the federal government spent almost $6 billion on medical care for illegal aliens in 2011. If you read a little further you will find that the states by themselves spent over $10.8 billion on healthcare for illegal aliens during that same time.  A total of $16.8 billion was spent on healthcare for non-Americans. So the federal government and states paid the equivalent of $1732 annually per illegal alien in medical costs.

According to the government’s Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services report National Health Expenditures, by Sponsor: 2009, our federal, state and local governments spent $1.08 trillion on healthcare and that does not include the $1.4 trillion dollars spent by private businesses and households.  So let’s say that approximately that $2.5 trillion was spent by government and the private sector on Healthcare for Americans in 2009. Divide that number by 305 million Americans at that time and you have almost $8200 per American spent annually on healthcare in the U.S. And that does not even include the $843 billion from donors and grants given to Hospital Charities that year according to the Internal Revenue.

Am I missing something? Where is all this money going?  The facts are that the U.S. has one of the greatest health care systems in the world. According to the NCPA (National Center for Policy Analysis) there are ten reasons why Healthcare in the U.S. is the best in the world.  

 Fact No. 1:  Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers.  Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States, and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom.  Prostate cancer mortality is 604 percent higher in the U.K. and 457 percent higher in Norway.  The mortality rate for colorectal cancer among British men and women is about 40 percent higher.

Fact No. 2:  Americans have lower cancer mortality rates than Canadians.  Breast cancer mortality is 9 percent higher, prostate cancer is 184 percent higher and colon cancer mortality among men is about 10 percent higher than in the United States.

Fact No. 3:  Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries. Some 56 percent of Americans who could benefit are taking statins, which reduce cholesterol and protect against heart disease.  By comparison, of those patients who could benefit from these drugs, only 36 percent of the Dutch, 29 percent of the Swiss, 26 percent of Germans, 23 percent of Britons and 17 percent of Italians receive them.

Fact No. 4:  Americans have better access to preventive cancer screening than Canadians.  Take the proportion of the appropriate-age population groups who have received recommended tests for breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancer:

•Nine of 10 middle-aged American women (89 percent) have had a mammogram, compared to less than three-fourths of Canadians (72 percent).

•Nearly all American women (96 percent) have had a pap smear, compared to less than 90 percent of Canadians.

•More than half of American men (54 percent) have had a PSA test, compared to less than 1 in 6 Canadians (16 percent).

•Nearly one-third of Americans (30 percent) have had a colonoscopy, compared with less than 1 in 20 Canadians (5 percent).

Fact No. 5:  Lower income Americans are in better health than comparable Canadians.  Twice as many American seniors with below-median incomes self-report "excellent" health compared to Canadian seniors (11.7 percent versus 5.8 percent).  Conversely, white Canadian young adults with below-median incomes are 20 percent more likely than lower income Americans to describe their health as "fair or poor."

Fact No. 6:  Americans spend less time waiting for care than patients in Canada and the U.K.  Canadian and British patients wait about twice as long - sometimes more than a year - to see a specialist, to have elective surgery like hip replacements or to get radiation treatment for cancer. All told, 827,429 people are waiting for some type of procedure in Canada. In England, nearly 1.8 million people are waiting for a hospital admission or outpatient treatment.

Fact No. 7:  People in countries with more government control of health care are highly dissatisfied and believe reform is needed.   More than 70 percent of German, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and British adults say their health system needs either "fundamental change" or "complete rebuilding."

Fact No. 8:  Americans are more satisfied with the care they receive than Canadians.  When asked about their own health care instead of the "health care system," more than half of Americans (51.3 percent) are very satisfied with their health care services, compared to only 41.5 percent of Canadians; a lower proportion of Americans are dissatisfied (6.8 percent) than Canadians (8.5 percent).

Fact No. 9:  Americans have much better access to important new technologies like medical imaging than patients in Canada or the U.K.  Maligned as a waste by economists and policymakers naïve to actual medical practice, an overwhelming majority of leading American physicians identified computerized tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) as the most important medical innovations for improving patient care during the previous decade. The United States has 34 CT scanners per million Americans, compared to 12 in Canada and eight in Britain.  The United States has nearly 27 MRI machines per million compared to about 6 per million in Canada and Britain.

Fact No. 10:  Americans are responsible for the vast majority of all health care innovations. The top five U.S. hospitals conduct more clinical trials than all the hospitals in any other single developed country. Since the mid-1970s, the Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology has gone to American residents more often than recipients from all other countries combined. 

Let’s face it the GOP now has a chance to make things right. They need to take the time to make health insurance more affordable to all Americans without excessive government intervention and the reduction of quality and accessibility to services. It’s time to allow health insurance companies to compete across state lines while allowing Doctors to do their jobs more effectively without the worry of malpractice lawsuits and high cost premiums.  It’s time to allow the pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies to bring their products to market more rapidly and at less cost.  Only then will we all be able to say truly that access to the best Healthcare in the world is a right guaranteed to all Americans.  

Many parents are concerned with the direction of education in the nation today. Children are not being taught what they need to learn.

In the past, American textbooks were always picked by local school districts who have the responsibility of assuring that they textbooks use met criteria in the basics of education principles.  Involved in the selection of textbooks was the local school boards elected to their position, and the local community including the parents of the children involved. This is no longer the case.

The United Nations has targeted our children to be indoctrinated into a globalist mindset through such UN entities as UNESCO.  Not only here in the United States but throughout Africa and beyond, the socialist controlled UNESCO have targeted textbooks that they feel are not politically correct. A few months ago they issued a “Global Education Monitoring” report that declared  textbooks in Africa did not meet the requirement on the subject of “global citizenship. UNESCO declared that if failed the promote  “ Homosexuality, lesbianism, global warming alarmism and transgenderism”. They have already made it quite clear that even “Private schools must be made to submit to the requirement of International law”. They are now trying to push another scheme called the “World Core Curriculum” a radical socialist scheme pushing everything from a revision of history to meet its needs and the sexualization of the children.

 They have an agenda of dictating textbooks that will be used  to shape an agenda, and attitude and the ethics of our children. This is being done to move forward with their Agenda 2030 and the sustainability within that agenda.

In Connecticut, a group of United Nations “human rights” experts have forced a change in textbooks because they we not happy with how slavery in the Northeast was written about in a history book  “Connecticut Adventure”. They proclaimed that the textbook must be changed because  it was insensitive to the plight of slavery.

The “experts” were from the” United Nations Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent”. The expert in charge is Sunga III from the Phillippines,.  This is the same group that last year came to the United States and demanded reparations for slavery, lobbied for gun control, and an end to voter ID laws.  This is the same group that turns a blind eye to the rape and terrorism set loose on the countryside of African nations, but feel it is more important to push their way into our education system to implement the agenda that have created.

At a summit held in Korea the UN adopted a global action plan that demands a worldwide “education regime” to transform the youth of the world into social justice warriors. In this plan the UN wants the responsibility of shaping our children in ethics, values and spirituality. It is being implemented for the purpose of making our children “green warriors” and  a part of the war for the “common good”. This summit, organized and run by the UN Department of Public Information (UNDPI) and through Agenda 2030 has as a goal, having the NGO’s worldwide working to implement its idea of global citizenship. In a portion of this report it was made clear what they consider a “civil society. Our children may need to be taught the fundamentals but the education they receive must also advance the cause of global citizenship. It declares that all facets of education, physical, spiritually,, ethically, and intellectually which would normally be the realm of the family, community and churches have been thrown to the sidelines to further the agenda of the globalists. The education they would receive would work toward assuring our youth are forced to believe the roles, right and responsibilities that will be allowed to keep or given to them by the globalists through the auspices of the United Nations.

Among the agenda as being driven by the United Nations, much is made of “Human rights” as written in Article 29 of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights”. The UN foundation for many of the plans that are moving forward. Using this article when read ensures that the UN and the tyrants who run the human rights council claim the your human rights can be limited by law for the purpose of “public order and the general welfare”. This line was first used by Hitler in the late 1930s. In essence you have no right, only privileges as given to you by the United Nations.  Your rights are not yours and in any case not be exercised contrary to the purposes and principles of the United Nations.

If the traditions and cultures of the individual sovereign states run afoul of the agenda the United Nations has set, it states that education will be “enhanced”.

Where does it all start? This could never happen here you say. Actually it already has. It started with the implementation of “Common Core” financed by Bill Gates and the UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) that was mentioned above on the intrusion of textbooks being used in this country. The objective is to make our children all good little globalists and to be transformed to be able to contribute to the global sustainable market. Common Core is the first step, a nationalizing of the curriculum that is meant to lead to a top-down planned society  that does not consider the Constitution, individual liberty and the God given rights that this country is founded upon. It is founded on teaching our children to be a part of the “globalist group” meant to take away the individualism and rights given to the American people and replace with global collectivism.

Through Common Core the effort is being made to “dumb down” the peole of the world.UNESCO has made it quite clear in the “Education for Sustainable Development report that “Generally, more highly educated people, who have higher incomes, consume more resources than poorly educated people who tend to have lower incomes. More education increases the threat to sustainability.” Does that help to make sense to why Obama is bringing the poor from all over the world, and wages being stagnant for almost nine years?

Obama is an advocate of this agenda as is the Education Secretary Arne Duncan. It typical political doublespeak , Duncan stated  “Our goal for the coming years will be to work closely with global partners, including UNESCO, to promote qualitative improvements and system strengthening”

 The United Nations, in their minds has the authority to override families and has the collective right to shape the values of our country’s children. They speak of sustainable development but neglect to mention that parts of the development agenda include population control, central planning, and global governance. It is through the education of the children, and the indoctrination of those children into becoming good children fitting into the global citizenship world of the new order. It is the intention of the UN agenda to restructure human civilization into a centrally planned global economy under the control of the progressive socialist globalists and the UN.

Even home schooling is not safe. Under the guise of “human rights” and equality, even home schooling, private schools and religious schools must be put under UN purview. Understanding that they can move forward with the global socialism that they envision if they can induce enough people using the buzzwords of “equality and rights”, the envision a “group of change” involving children and young adults taught in the system they will implement to create an activism for even further goals in the agenda they have set.

Our Muslim in Chief as agreed to the agenda in principle and will not even attempt to bring it before Congress for ratification.

Watching a child covering both ears, teeth clinched and eyes tightly closed, repeatedly screaming, “I can’t hear you” over something they find objectionable; like an adult forcing them to face truth and reality, is somewhat amusing and sometimes “cute.”

Watching and hearing adults exhibiting this child-like, petulant behavior, however, is bizarre. A significant segment of the Democrat Party, academia, and the mainstream media ignore the obviousness of the recent presidential election. These infantile ignoramuses, who, despite the overwhelming victory by Donald Trump, insist Bill’s wife, won the election.

These pitiful pundits and pretenders imagine they are of superior intellect, blessed with God-like insightfulness, and that they are endowed with the divine right to rule over the sweaty, unknowing masses. They fancy themselves far above such trivial matters of or resembling reality and truth. These trifles just hold them down and inhibit their ascension to the high moral ground and self-important smugness.  

Leftists live, write, and speak employing preprogrammed liberal talking points (aka preconceived lies) sprinkled with bountiful fairy dust fantasies. Depths of thought and introspection are sorely absent. These thoroughly indoctrinated, idealistic, pipe dreamers living in their own fantasy world will not change reality regardless of how hard they try, invectives they hurl, or how loudly they scream.

Twisted logic, bullying, and misrepresenting facts (AKA) lying, will not liberate anyone from truth and the real world. Recognizing the world as it is will purge those talking points from those overly programmed minds.

 Our nation is not a direct democracy, but rather a constitutional representative democracy - otherwise referred to as a republic.  We elect representatives to vote for president, and we elect senators and congressional representatives to represent us in Congress. Each state is represented individually in presidential elections; therefore, nationwide voting totals for president are irrelevant. Since each state is apportioned delegates according to their population, this system works well and prevents sizeable population centers like California, New York, and a few other states from overwhelming smaller states and repeatedly selecting the American President. As a result, contenders for president must campaign and interact with voters across the nation, rather than campaigning full-time in large states.

Ignorance of these facts says volumes about the deplorable failures of the government, the media, and especially the corrupt education system with which our nation has been cursed for decades. There was a time when eighth-grade civics taught Americans more about their government and how it works than graduate students in college know today.

Now, for all those back into the realm of reality, get the ludicrous idea that Russia hacked the presidential election, allowing Trump to win, completely out of your mind. Clinton’s soon-to-be campaign manager, John Podesta, fell for an obvious phishing sting and revealed his email password to scammers. His emails provided grist for every political mill in the world. They gave a repulsive insight into the Clinton campaign and exposed corruption, media collusion, racism, anti-Semitism, and seamy discourse between staffers. Clinton’s own staff directed the unflattering, glaring light upon the incompetence and corruption of Mrs. Bill Clinton. No one disputed anything in this tell-all, soap opera- scenario of Podesta emails; in other words, the inconvenient, bare bone's truth, well known by the media was, at last, unmasked and confirmed.  

Our country hacks nations - friends, and foes alike, all over the globe. Likewise, they hack us. In the eight years of Obama’s corrupt regime, our nation was hacked by Russia, China, Iran, Korea, and dozens of other countries. However, nothing even ruffled a feather in Obama’s defensive quiver; until Clinton fumbled at the goal line and lost, what he thought was a sure-win election.  In spite of the theft of millions of federal workers’ personal information, nothing moved him to launch a diplomatic or punitive arrow toward the Chinese perpetrators. In the end, no experts believe Russia hacked our election. Likewise, no experts believe that revelations of these emails or unmasking the truth, led to Clinton’s loss. Americans simply wanted change from the Marxist policies of Barack Obama on which she campaigned. Additionally, she had one qualification for president; she married Bill Clinton.   

Continual histrionics of carping and whining that Bill’s wife won the election is delusional, and smacks of desperation. To be perfectly clear, let’s paraphrase from that infamous, narcissistic, hero-god of liberalism - Barack Obama. Elections have consequences; we won; you lost. Let that penetrate the closed-minded little neurotic worlds of all you liberal ideologues. In the real world, you don’t get to change or make up rules after an election, like you carry out in your progressive dreams.  Allow the inevitable to sink in - Donald J. Trump is President of the United States!

Literally tens of THOUSANDS of hardcore convicted felons have been given either full pardons, or had their sentences commutted, by Obama and democrat governors across the country. They were then given health care, cash, and housing -- along with fresh, brand-spanking new, IDs; and were  then registered to vote. (Gee! I wonder which party affiliation!).  This just so happens to be the very same package that has been given to the ILLEGALS from Mexico and Central America, as well as the so called islamic "refugees".. What a coincidence! No preferential treatment there, right? 

With this latest move Obama has sealed the destiny of those Cubans seeking Freedom from Raul Castro's brutal communist regime. Now those that are CAUGHT even on American soil (Foot Dry) will be deported back to Castro. Where they are certain to receive the HARSH treatment that communist govts have been historically known for.

DC Leaks published more than 2,500 emails going back to 2008 from Soros’ Open Society Foundations’ servers. According to a shocking report about hacked emails by the Observer, the liberal billionaire even referenced the Holocaust in the electronic missives.

Soros reportedly told reporter Steve Kroft in a televised interview that walking the streets of Budapest with his “faux godfather” to steal the property of his fellow Jewish people, under Hitler’s reign, was “the most exhilarating time” of his life. The same report maintained Soros has always had a problem with both his Jewish roots and the idea of creating a Jewish state.

One of Soros’ foundations, the New Israel Fund, reportedly teaches Israeli-Arabs and Jewish liberals how to use the law and the courts to thwart efforts to build a Jewish state. His son, Alexander Soros, appears to be preparing to follow in his daddy’s footsteps and is already rubbing elbows with Democrat elites.

The Jerusalem Post reports Soros’s Open Society gave nearly $10 million to groups advancing the rights of Arab Israelis since 2001. The groups or the projects that the money was slated to be used for reportedly had an emphasis on countering Israel’s “restrictive measures” against minorities.

“In recent years, the radicalization of public opinion and consecutive Israeli right wing governments have resulted in more restrictive measures against Palestinians within Israel,” a September 2015 review of Open Society’s Arab Regional Office’s work reportedly stated.

The Open Society document also declares the Jewish Nation State bill to be a restrictive measure which harms minorities in Israel. The bill has not yet garnered enough votes for passage.

Also, the organization’s Arab Regional Office noted enhanced advocacy by Palestinian citizens of Israel (PCI) in international forums as a plus, as it would help combat Israel’s “racist” policies. The notion of Israel being a democracy also appears to be mocked.

“In shifting to international advocacy, PCI’s are up against Israel and its image as a democratic state before the international community, therefore Palestinian civil society organizations in Israel feel the pressure of filling this gap by strengthening their relations with international actors and systems, such as the European Union and United Nations, to put their issue on the international agenda,” the George Soros Open Society memo also stated.

The leaked Soros emails reportedly showed plans to give $200,000 to the Center for American Politics to launch a nasty smear campaign against American conservatives in 2014. In 2015, his far-left Open Society gave $650,000 to “invest in technical assistance and support” for anti-police Black Lives Matter groups.

Obama, Soros create ‘Palestine’: ‘Invest in Arab ‘country’ that lacks recognition’–Posted on WND.com-By Bob Unruh-On February 11, 2011:

JERUSALEM – In partnership with a government fund initiated by Barack Obama, philanthropist and billionaire activist George Soros is investing in a private equity company that just launched in the Palestinian territories.

The company, Siraj Fund Management Company, says it was created “for the sole purpose of managing investment funds in Palestine.”

The new company’s website repeatedly refers to what it calls the “country” of “Palestine.” There is, however, no such country as Palestine. Siraj is apparently referring to territories controlled by the Palestinian Authority.

“Siraj has plans to launch future funds focused on the Palestinian market thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the country,” states the website.

This marks the latest involvement of Soros in Middle Eastern affairs.

WND reported last week Soros has been funding groups pushing for democracy in Egypt and is associated with an opposition leader there who has been fueling protests toppling the regime of President Hosni Mubarak, a key U.S. ally in the region.

WND also reported an international “crisis management” group led by Soros long has petitioned for the Egyptian government to normalize ties with the Muslim Brotherhood, the main opposition in Egypt.

This week, Siraj Fund Management Company, the first private equity fund in the Palestinian territories, officially launched in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Soros’ Economic Development Fund invested in the new group alongside the U.S. government-owned Overseas Private Investment Corporation, or OPIC.

OPIC is an independent agency of the US government that mobilizes private sector investment in new and emerging markets overseas.

In 2009, OPIC created its Global Technology and Innovation Fund, which invested in Siraj, in response to an initiative by Obama to launch an investment group to support technological development in Muslim-majority countries.

The initiative followed Obama’s historic address to the Muslim world from Cairo, Egypt in June 2009.

The U.S. fund invested with Soros in the West Bank’s new Siraj Fund Management Company, which was created to manage investment funds in a “country” Siraj repeatedly refers to in its official literature and website as “Palestine.”

Palestine is a conventional name used to describe a geographic region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River. The name “Palestine” comes from the ancient word meaning “Philistines” or “Land of the Philistines.” Palestinian Arabs have no relation to ancient Philistines.

“Palestine” previously referred to a future Jewish state in the decades before its founding in 1948. Indeed, the Jerusalem Post, the country’s English newspaper, was previously called the Palestine Post. Jerusalem’s Jewish philharmonic was previously called the Palestine Orchestra.

The use of “Palestine” by the Siraj Fund Management Company seems to refer to a Palestinian state, which has not yet been established. After the 1967 Six Day War, Palestinians began referring to their desire for a future country possibly called “Palestine.”

Siraj Fund’s initial closing was $60 million and is expected to close at $80 million in the coming months. The Fund’s capital includes about half participation from foreign investors, the other half are Palestinians and Arabs.

Besides the U.S. government and Soros’ organization, other foreign investors in Saraj include the Pension Boards of the United Church of Christ and Crescent Investments of the United Arab Emirates.

Soros fingerprints on Mideast chaos

The International Crisis Group, or ICG, which includes Soros among its eight executive committee members, long has petitioned for the Egyptian government to normalize ties with the Muslim Brotherhood.

The ICG also released a report urging the Egyptian regime to allow the Brotherhood to establish an Islamist political party.

The ICG includes on its board Mohamed ElBaradei, one of the main opposition leaders in Egypt, as well as other personalities who champion dialogue with Hamas, a violent offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In a June 2008 report entitled, “Egypt’s Muslim Brothers Confrontation or Integration,” Soros’ ICG urges the Egyptian regime to allow the group to participate in political life.

The report dismisses Egypt’s longstanding government crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood as “dangerously short-sighted.”

The ICG report called on Mubarak’s regime to “pave the way for the regularization of the Muslim Brothers’ participation in political life,” including by allowing for the “establishment of a political party with religious reference.”

The ICG specifically stressed allowing the Brotherhood to serve as an Islamist party several times in its 2008 report.

The ICG and its personalities also long have petitioned for the Muslim Brotherhood to be allowed to join the Egyptian government.

ElBaradei suspended his board membership in the ICG two weeks ago, after he returned to Egypt to lead the anti-Mubarak protests.

U.S. board members include Zbigniew Brzezinski, who was national security adviser to Jimmy Carter; Samuel Berger, who was Bill Clinton’s national security adviser; and retired U.S. ambassador Thomas Pickering, who made headlines in 2009 after meeting with Hamas leaders and calling for the U.S. to open ties to the Islamist group.

Another ICG member is Robert Malley, a former adviser to Obama during the 2008 presidential campaign. He resigned after it was exposed he had communicated with Hamas. WND reported Malley long had petitioned for dialogue with Hamas.

The ICG defines itself as an “independent, non-profit, multinational organization, with 100 staff members on five continents, working through field-based analysis and high-level advocacy to prevent and resolve deadly conflict.”

Meanwhile, Soros also has other ties to opposition groups in the Middle East.

His Open Society Institute’s Middle East and North Africa Initiative has provided numerous grants to a wide range of projects that promote so-called democratic issues across the region, including in Egypt, where the Muslim Brotherhood stands to gain from any future election.

Soros’ Open Society also funded the main opposition voice in Tunisia, Radio Kalima, which championed the riots there that led to the ouster of President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

In September, Soros’ group was looking to expand its operations in Egypt by hiring a new project manager for its Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights, which is run in partnership with the Open Society Justice Initiative. The group is seeking to develop a national network of legal empowerment actors for referral of public-interest law cases. Such organizations in the past have helped represent Muslim Brotherhood leaders seeking election or more authority in the country.

Soros himself last Friday made public statements in support of the protests in Egypt, which the Mubarak government has warned will result in the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in the country.

In a Washington Post editorial entitled, “Why Obama Has to Get Egypt Right,” Soros recognized that if free elections were held in Egypt, “the Brotherhood is bound to emerge as a major political force, though it is far from assured of a majority.”

He stated the U.S. has “much to gain by moving out in front and siding with the public demand for dignity and democracy” in Egypt.

He claimed the “Muslim Brotherhood’s cooperation with Mohamed ElBaradei … is a hopeful sign that it intends to play a constructive role in a democratic political system.”

Soros did not mention his ties to ElBaradei.

Soros did, however, single out Israel as “the main stumbling block” in paving the way toward transition in the Middle East.

“In reality, Israel has as much to gain from the spread of democracy in the Middle East as the United States has. But Israel is unlikely to recognize its own best interests because the change is too sudden and carries too many risks,” he wrote.

Muslim Brotherhood awakens terrorist wing

WND reported this week an Egyptian Islamist terrorist organization founded by the Muslim Brotherhood is re-establishing itself amid the political upheaval in Cairo

Both Egyptian and Israeli security officials said the group, Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya, is being reconstituted at the direction of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The officials affirmed Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya serves as the de facto “military” wing of the Brotherhood, which originally founded Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya.

Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya is suspected of involvement in the 1981 assassination of Egyptian president Anwar Sadat and it took credit for the 1995 attempt on the life of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. It has carried out scores of deadly terrorist attacks, some targeting foreign tourists.

The Muslim Brotherhood seeks to spread Islam around the world. Hamas and al-Qaida are violent Brotherhood offshoots.

While the Brotherhood claimed it abandoned violence to push for a peaceful takeover of Egypt, the group’s new spiritual leader, Muhammad Badi, recently publicly has called for violent jihad, including against the U.S.

On Sunday, an Egyptian security official was quoted in the news media stating Egyptian troops had arrested two armed Palestinians from Hamas who entered the country illegally from the Gaza Strip.

The security official told reporters the men had crossed from Gaza into Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula using smuggling tunnels and that they were arrested in a stolen car in the town of el-Arish, near the border, along with three Egyptian smugglers.

The official told the Associated Press the two Hamas men were caught with weapons, hand grenades, two RPGs and about $8,600 in cash.

A senior Egyptian security official speaking to WND on Monday said an investigation found the two Hamas men were aiding in the reorganization of Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya, which, he said, is attempting to reconstitute itself under the direction of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Egyptian security official said Hamas is helping Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya organize into divisions and to arm itself with weapons currently in the Sinai waiting to be smuggled into Gaza.

Both Israel and Egypt say Hamas has amassed a large quantity of weapons in the Sinai Peninsula, where the Islamist group has been attempting to smuggle the weaponry into Gaza.

Now, the Egyptian security official said, some of those weapons are going to arm the reconstituted Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya.

Notorious terrorist attacks

Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood, and is classified as a terrorist group by the U.S., European Union and Egypt. Like the Muslim Brotherhood, the group is dedicated to the overthrow of Mubarak, seeking to replace his regime with an Islamic state.

The group has carried out numerous deadly attacks.

Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya may have been involved indirectly in Sadat’s assassination. The group’s leader has talked publicly about collaborating in planning the murder with the Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which was blamed for the killing.

In the late 1980s and 1990s, Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya carried out scores of terrorist acts in Egypt, including the murders and attempted murders of prominent Egyptian writers and intellectuals. The group also targeted tourists and foreigners.

In 1997, it carried out the notorious Luxor massacre in Luxor, Egypt, killing 58 foreign tourists and four Egyptians. Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya went on a shooting rampage in that attack, even reportedly mutilating the bodies of victims. A note praising Islam was found inside one disemboweled body.

One year earlier, in 1996, Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya carried out a shooting rampage at the Europa Hotel in Cairo, killing 18 Greek tourists.

In 1995, the group took responsibility for a car bomb attack on the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, murdering 16 people.

After a massive Egyptian crackdown on the group in 1997 following the Luxur attack, Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya brokered a deal with the Egyptian government that is known as the Nonviolence Initiative, in which some leaders of the movement said they renounced violence.

Still, exiled leaders of Al-Gama’a al-Islamiyya maintained the group would not give up its violence.

Brotherhood declares war on U.S.

Multiple prominent U.S. commentators also have been claiming the Muslim Brotherhood is a moderate organization and denying any Islamist plot to seize power.

In November, the Brotherhood’s new supreme guide, Muhammad Badi, delivered a sermon entitled, “How Islam Confronts the Oppression and Tyranny.”

“Resistance is the only solution,” stated Badi. “The United States cannot impose an agreement upon the Palestinians, despite all the power at its disposal. [Today] it is withdrawing from Iraq, defeated and wounded, and is also on the verge of withdrawing from Afghanistan because it has been defeated by Islamist warriors.”

Badi went on to declare the U.S. is easy to defeat through violence, since it is “experiencing the beginning of its end and is heading toward its demise.”

“As stories leak out regarding who was responsible for Barack Obama’s sudden pivot from passivity regarding Libya towards military engagement (albeit with England and France being in the lead) one name has emerged as playing a key role in persuading him to push the button: Samantha Power.

Her influence might cause qualms among supporters of the American-Israel relationship.

As has been covered by American Thinker and others (notably Noah Pollak in Commentary Contentions, among them), Power has been critical of the strength of this friendship and alliance. This concern should be now be heightened. She now serves on the National Security Council. Foreign-policy making in this administration has been opaque at best. But one dynamic that has been now made clear is that Power has emerged as a key player.

From John Podhoretz’s column in the New York Post:

• The Tuesday-evening meeting at the White House at which the president decided to move on Libya was “extremely contentious,” according to a report in Josh Rogin’s excellent blog, The Cable.

• Power and a few others took the position that the United States couldn’t stay on the sidelines as Moammar Khadafy murdered his own people and snuffed out the people-power revolt in the Middle East in its infancy.

• They were opposed by Power’s own boss, National Security Adviser Tom Donilon and by Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

But apparently, Samantha Power and Hillary Clinton persuaded Barack Obama to act. The rationale they used that led to military can come back to haunt friends of Israel’s.

Again, from Podhoretz:

• According to Rogin, the governing doctrine that helped Obama to make his decision to act was not an appeal to the national interest, but rather to a recent concept promulgated at the United Nations called “responsibility to protect,” or R2P.

• R2P is an effort to create a new international moral standard to prevent violence against civilians.

• In her career as a genocide expert, Power was an indefatigable proponent of R2P, and now on the National Security Council has been “trying to figure out how the administration could implement R2P and what doing so would require of the White House going forward.” Hillary is her ally in this effort, it appears.

So it was not an appeal to our national interest that led President Obama to act but rather a new concept circulating in international policy circles – and one actively promoted by Power – that prompted his shift.

(By the way, the fact that Power played a key role in persuading Barack Obama to apply military force to protect civilians in Libya is akin to the same advice she counseled regarding Israel: Power also advocated that America send armed military forces, “a mammoth protection force” and an “external intervention”, to impose a settlement between Israel and the Palestinians).

But there are other problems inherent in the concept of R2P (how easy that must be to tap out on Blackberrys) and with the precedent that has now been established that allows international intervention.

It is not hard to envision that this R2P concept, swirling through the United Nations and in international foreign policy circles, can one day be applied against Israel when that nation is forced to respond from attacks coming from the West Bank, Gaza, and Lebanon. Terrorists hide behind civilians; Israeli actions to defend themselves often happen in densely populated areas where civilian deaths are almost inevitable – despite all the precautions Israel takes to prevent them.

Power’s promotion of the R2P concept is not a surprise. Barack Obama’s adoption of the same concept should be cause for concern. A Pandora’s Box may have just been opened. Power’s emergence as a key player, and her influence over the President, who already is inclined to outsource American foreign policy to the “international community,” should heighten this concern.

Just one more reason to try to keep track of the role and influence that Samantha Power has in the Oval Office. If Hillary Clinton decides to resign as Secretary of State (she has already declared she will not serve in a second term) there will be a reshuffling of positions of power (Susan Rice, Samantha Power, etc) and there is no telling who may end up moving closer to the center of power.

UPDATE:

The always astute Omri Ceren has more regarding the R2P concept over at Commentary Contentions. He notes that there is a bit of history regarding the concept’s application to the Israel-Palestinian conflict. There was a group created in 2009, the International Coalition For The Responsibility To Protect, that has spoken out against Israel, notably during Israel’s Operation Cast Lead in Gaza.

The Coalition released this statement:

The recent escalation of violence in Gaza has raised serious questions about the use of the Responsibility to Protect to urge international action to protect civilians in the conflict.

The Responsibility to Protect has been referred to, notably by Richard Falk, UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories, but also others who claim that crimes committed in Gaza by Israeli forces have reached the threshold of R2P crimes.

Ceren continues:

• This is part and parcel of the statements that the ICRtoP has been publishing since it was established in the immediate aftermath of Cast Lead. They published a petition absurdly insisting that “the rocket attacks on Israel by Hamas deplorable as they are, do not… amount to an armed attack entitling Israel to rely on self-defence.” They passed along Richard Falk’s “Israelis could be charged with war crimes” lawfare spin on the Goldstone Report. They reprinted other articles accusing Israelis of war crimes here and here and here and here and here. All of this was under the umbrella of “evaluating” whether R2P should be brought to bear against Israel’s self-defense campaigns.

The Responsibility To Protect, in other words, is an international norm that has been incubated with eyes on Israel at least since Cast Lead.

Now Samantha Power has seemingly slipped this concept into the mind and policies of Barack Obama. Once these international “concepts” are formed and promoted they often transform from mere intellectual ideas into the basis of international policy.

Israel should be worried.

Update II:

One more clue to Power being the promoter of the R2P concept within the Obama administration is her history. She opened a symposium put on the by the International Coalition for The Responsibility To Protect (ICR2P) as recently as November, 2010, with a keynote address. Furthermore, Sergio Vieira, was an international diplomat who pioneered the concept of the “responsibility to protect.” Vieira was later killed in a suicide bombing attack in Iraq. Power wrote an admiring biography (if not a hagiography) of Vieira a few years ago that noted his role in developing and promoting that concept.

Concepts become norms and, in the wrong hands, norms can become weapons.”
