Helping Youth Have a Faith of Their Own
The fact that youth participate in church less as they get older and often are not present in church as young adults can lead church leaders to assume they lack religious interest. A new book growing out of the National Study of Youth and Religion challenges that assumption. Sociologists Lisa Pearce and Melinda Lundquist Denton found that older teens and young adults see great significance in religion though not always in institutional forms of religious life.
In their book A Faith of Their Own: Stability and Change in the Religiosity of America’s Adolescents (Oxford University Press, 2011), the authors follow up with 2,530 young people, age 16 to 21, surveyed about their faith and religious practices at two points in time. The authors identified five types of religious identity among these young persons.
Abiders (20 percent). These are the adolescents with the highest levels of religious interest and practice. They not only believe in God; they pray regularly, attend services, volunteer, and are most likely to say their religion is the only true faith.
Adapters (20 percent). This group shows high levels of personal religiosity. But compared to the Abiders, they are more accepting of other people’s faiths and attend religious services more sporadically. The Adapters are most likely of all the groups to help others in need.
Assenters (31 percent). These teens say they believe in God, but they are minimally engaged with their faith. Religion is tangential to other aspects of their lives.
Avoiders (24 percent). They believe in God but do not engage in any religious practice. Their God is a distant one, and they often do not name a religious affiliation.
Atheists (5 percent). They do not believe in God and do not attend services.
Meaning for Congregations
What might this mean for congregations wanting to be sensitive to the faith perspectives of youth? We know that participation in formal religious services means little to many youth. They do not necessarily see themselves as less religious because they attend worship less often. The church is often not their primary community of meaning during these years.
The writers suggest that congregations can support youth as they refine their religious identity with an approach called “scaffolding.” Scaffolding creates a context in which youth can participate at a level just beyond where they are currently. Instead of asking youth to go where they are not ready to go, they are helped to grow from where they are. Hallmarks of all such efforts must be honesty and acknowledgement of the role of doubt in faith.
All people have distinctive issues and needs at various life stages. One lesson from this research is the importance of supporting youth in appropriate ways during these critical years.

Netanyahu Says ‘No Chance’ Of Iranian Nuclear Compromise Deal Without Dismantling Centrifuges!!
Israel – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that there is “no chance” the West will reach a final deal with Iran over its nuclear program, following comments by Iranian officials last week that they had not agreed to dismantle any nuclear centrifuges. “If Iran will stand by that statement, that means that a permanent agreement–which is the goal of the entire diplomatic process with Iran–cannot succeed,” Netanyahu said.
( Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu )
The Jerusalem Post reported Netanyahu’s comments Sunday, after he addressed his cabinet upon his return from Davos, Switzerland. Late last year, Netanyahu called the interim deal with Iran an “historic mistake” and made clear that Israel was not party to the agreement. The deal provides that Iran receives sanctions relief in return for temporarily suspending high-level nuclear enrichment and provides some access to UN inspectors. source – Breitbart

I find it very interesting how people view Jesus today. I am not a bible scholar and cannot quote more than just a few very common scripture verses, but is being able to quote chapter and verse from the Holy Bible really that important? Knowing what the Bible says is important. Living by Scripture, especially by the New Testament things taught by Jesus and his Apostles are important, but I find a lot of people who are so quote-crazy they don’t really seem to know much about what they are quoting.
For instance, Jesus is portrayed in most churches that I know of, and by every Christian I know as pious, benevolent, quiet, and soft spoken. I don’t see him that way at all, at least not all the time. As a matter of fact I think of Jesus as quite forceful, and a pain in the butt to the bureaucracy of his time; and to the “progressives” who now control our nation. I see a side of Jesus that is often more like a drill sergeant in the Army.

Jesus Christ is The Reason for the Season!
18) Now the Birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as His mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall Save His people from their sins.
22) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called His name JESUS.
I) NOW when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2) Saying, Where is He that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen His star in the east, and are come to worship Him.
3) When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4) And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
5) And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6) And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7) Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8) And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9) When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10) When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
II) And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
( Isaiah 40:31 KJV 1611 AV )
This Verse is One of my favorites of all time!! I think about this Verse when I am down, or when I have pain! It Proves God is There with us through Everything in our Lives!! God is our Father in Heaven who Created the Heavens and the Earth, He also Created us after His Own Image!! God Loves us through Jesus Christ His One and Only Son!! Jesus Loved everyone, before we Loved Him!!

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
( Jeremiah 1:5 KJV 1611 AV )
Jesus is LORD of lords and KING of kings!!

The major stumbling block to restoring America and saving the world is the lack of unity or oneness, which Jesus preached. With Christians all thinking the same thing it would be easy to elect Christians to Congress and all government offices nationwide to turn America to the true right which is defined by Jesus Christ. Then we could easily get funds and people to bring Jesus and His absolute perfection to the world instead of secular western economy and war. We could pass laws requiring schools to teach kids to memorize a Gospel by the 3rd grade before they learn to ignore teachers, party, and drop out. We could outlaw anti-Christian groups like the ACLU and make countless changes to make government more righteous, responsible, and redemptive.
The best way to get this unity is simply to preach Jesus' ministry and forsake all others. Preach the New Pentateuch, the 5 books with most of Jesus' words. Preach all of it, not leaving out verses that may force you to change the way you practice church. Preaching anyone else from Paul to Luther to your ministry or mine will result in more divided loyalties and Rev. 17:5 prostitution. To help you see the key insight, the best example of a false shepherd is John who wrote Jesus' ministry in his Gospel and Revelation but his own ministry in the Epistles of John - and the worst example is Paul who only quoted Jesus in three verses. It may take some work to change focus to Jesus as much as needed. The nation's founders turned to Jesus by necessity, we should do it voluntarily.
On the spiritual side, we need to change our human spirits from the old testament prophet type judgment, wrath, and destruction to the good miracles of Jesus including God's perfect love, countering the corrupt love popular today, healing by the Father's miracles instead of medicine, feeding by the Father's bountiful supply instead of human economy, transportation including walking on water and more instead of by man made means. Prayer is required to make anything in life good. We need prayers that actually bring forth all the true and perfect works Jesus did and direct contact with Jesus so we can be empowered by His Spirit instead of our own fading glory and well pleasing to Him in all He sends us to do.
Have you seen the panic? There have been a lot of erroneous stories of late that exaggerate, not the danger that an over-sized government and its manic bureaucratic wing present to us, but the actual situation we are in as Americans at this very moment. No need to panic! Merry Christmas, we are still a free people.
Like Ronald Reagan I am an optimist. I believe in Americans, and I believe that there will always be a free people in this country. Those people comprise the thread by which our Constitution now hangs. It is a strong thread, and though it seems tenuous at times, our Constitution gleams with a bright spark of Divine inspiration. Our founding documents, being inspired by the Mind of God, are more clever than the enemies of the republic. Despite the pounding and shredding of many of the basic tenets of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, they continue to protect us. We still own our most basic possessions; our lives, our property, our voices, our choices, and the overriding right to defend them all.
The signers of the Declaration of Independence all pledged their lives to the cause of liberty. When they signed the Declaration they may have thought they were signing their death warrants. They pledged their blood, and likely expected to shed it. But not one of those men lost their lives as a direct result of battle with the British. Some were captured and tortured for their roles as signatories to the Declaration of Independence. Nine of them lost sons to the Revolutionary War. Some had their homes and treasures ransacked. But they were not outright murdered by their adversaries. Their honor has only been magnified through time. And their treasures, if lost, were replaced with that sufficient for their needs. We too are protected as the the necessity for a Revolution of the 21st Century grows ever greater.
Some 20,000 Americans gave their lives to fight the British tyranny. Those lives sacrificed literally changed the world forever. I do not minimize the threats from despots and tyrants who now threaten our country from abroad, and from Communists and Progressives within our own social institutions and government, but we will not give up our freedom. It is impossible to quench the flame of human liberty once it is lit. We will battle with our might to defend it, but it will never be snuffed out.
As Christmas Day nears, I ponder my faith in God, and in His holy Son, Jesus Christ. My heart brims with gratitude to God that He gave me the privilege of being born an American. I am also thankful, though sometimes burdened, by the responsibility He gave me to fight to keep this country free and prosperous. As Christ freed His people from the chains of death and damnation, so too will He give us the strength to defy the chains of slavery to Big Government, and evil ideologies who hate us, and covet, and want to destroy, the blessings we enjoy as Americans. Living in Western Colorado, near the Colorado river, nestled between the mountain's majesty and the splendor of the high desert, I know that this is God's country. I also know that America is God's nation.
Let us reflect upon these things. The moments of panic steal our personal peace, but they also damage our credibility. As the Star of Bethlehem was a guiding light to the wise men who sought the Son of God, so let us be a ray of hope and optimism to those who are looking for a happier future in America. Hope burns bright, man will not easily become enslaved. We are still free to worship. We are still free to love our neighbors. Merry Christmas, we are still a free people.
