“Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages.  How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world’s largest economy, direct the world’s most powerful military, execute the world’s most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama’s pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a “community organizer”; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote “present”); and finally an unaccomplished single term in United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions.  He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as legislator. 

And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama’s “spiritual mentor”; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama’s colleague and political sponsor.  It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president? 

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:

“To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass.”

Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass—held to a lower standard—because of the color of his skin.  Podhoretz continues:

“And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) “non-threatening,” all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?”

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon—affirmative action.  Not in the legal sense, of course.  But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves. 

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back.  Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow.  Liberals don’t care if these minority students fail; liberals aren’t around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action.  Yes, racist.  Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin—that’s affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn’t racism, then nothing is.  And that is what America did to Obama.

True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be?  As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate.  All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary.  What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks?

In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama’s oratory skills, intellect, and cool character.  Those people—conservatives included—ought now to be deeply embarrassed.  The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of clichés, and that’s when he has his teleprompter in front of him; when the prompter is absent he can barely think or speak at all.  Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth—it’s all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years.

And what about his character?  Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles.  Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess.  It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence.  But really, what were we to expect?  The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job.  When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense.  It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office. 

But hey, at least we got to feel good about ourselves for a little while.  And really, isn’t that all that matters these days?

Author’s Note.  A lot of readers have written in asking me how I came to the conclusion that Obama was an unremarkable student and that he benefited from affirmative action.  Three reasons:

1) As reported by The New York Sun: “A spokesman for the university, Brian Connolly, confirmed that Mr. Obama spent two years at Columbia College and graduated in 1983 with a major in political science. He did not receive honors...”  In spite of not receiving honors as an undergrad, Obama was nevertheless admitted to Harvard Law. Why? 

2) Obama himself has written he was a poor student as a young man.  As the Baltimore Sun reported, in:  

“’Obama’s book ‘Dreams from My Father,’....the president recalled a time in his life...when he started to drift away from the path of success. ‘I had learned not to care,’ Obama wrote. ‘... Pot had helped, and booze; maybe a little blow when you could afford it.’ But his mother confronted him about his behavior. ‘Don’t you think you’re being a little casual about your future?” she asked him, according to the book. ‘... One of your friends was just arrested for drug possession. Your grades are slipping. You haven’t even started on your college applications.’” 

3) Most damning to me is the president’s unwillingness to make his transcripts public.  If Obama had really been a stellar student with impeccable grades as an undergrad, is there any doubt they would have been made public by now and trumpeted on the front page of the New York Times as proof of his brilliance?  To me it all adds up to affirmative action.”

The Era of Confronting Obama at Public Events!

“So here we have “former-Bush official Brad Blakeman” being quoted by the media as attacking Tea Party stalwart Ryan Rhodes over Rhodes’s confrontation with Obama.  It seems that every time we see the term “former Bush,” “former Reagan,” and for all I know “former Coolidge” official, it involves some venerable GOP figure calling airstrikes in on his or her own unit.  I guess it’s slow down at the shuffleboard court.

It’s possible to read all sorts of things into this, none of them good.  About the gentlest would be that Blakeman is missing the point.  Ryan is the farthest thing in the world from a political vagabond.  As the founder of the Iowa Tea Party, he is a crucial figure in one of the most important political movements of the past half-century.  He confronted Obama not because voices told him to or to get his picture in the paper, but to issue a rebuke, a necessary rebuke.  Obama had it coming for all sorts of reasons above and beyond the issue at hand.  (Joe Biden’s charming reference to the Tea Parties as “terrorists,” an incident that seems to have evaded Blakeman’s attention.)  In a just world, he’d be hearing the same thing at every whistle-stop, fundraiser, campaign speech, and vacation cookout from now until Krugman’s aggressive aliens arrive from Tau Ceti.  Ryan is to be applauded for doing something few would dare attempt, and bringing it off with considerable panache.

Blakeman is, of course, making the argument that we should “respect the office, and not the man.”  A perfectly legitimate stance, in normal times and dealing with normal politicians.  But since we are dealing with neither, it has been reduced to something recited by rote.  The times being what they are, extraordinary measures are called for.  If a man were to force his way into a schoolroom and begin flinging children out the window, we would be appalled—unless that man was aware that the school was ablaze and there was no other way out of the building.

Blakeman overlooks the simple truth that you can respect the office only as much as the incumbent does.  If the officeholder violates public trust, which can occur in any number of ways, from leaping on interns to appointing cronies to extralegal positions, the question of respect as such becomes moot.  Some behavior cannot and should not be tolerated.  If it were Caligula and Cesare Borgia in the Oval Office, I’m quite sure that Blakeman would not call for abject respect for either.  Obama, to be just, is comparable to neither of them in iniquity, but the principle holds.  You may call it an exaggeration for effect, the literary version of Ryan’s action.

The third point is that America’s liberals drew first blood and now have to take whatever comes.  It has been generations since a Democrat or liberal or leftist has behaved in the political arena according to any tradition of decency, honor, or gentility.  Barry Goldwater was an honest man and a politician of the highest standards.  If you were to look for his equal today, in either house on either side of the aisle, you would come up with no one.  And yet, when he ran for president in 1964, the entire liberal establishment cut loose with an unmatched campaign of slander.  Goldwater was a Nazi, an extremist, a paranoid schizophrenic, a maniac out to trigger a nuclear war.  And it wasn’t fringe publications making these accusations—it was the New York Times and the Big Three broadcast networks. The men involved in that campaign—including the great American Voice of Reason, Bill Moyers—went on to lengthy, lucrative, and influential careers.  Not a single one ever apologized; not a single one ever explained himself; not a single one was even confronted over his role.

The liberals have never backed off.  To this day, children in America’s schools are taught that the deranged Ronald Reagan tried to start WWIII and was halted only by the actions of the heroic Mikhail Gorbachev.  (You doubt this?  Ask your kids.)  George W. Bush was forced to fight an international war while the loyal opposition derided him as a Nazi, a subnormal, a mass murderer, and we could go for several pages.  One novel, an award-winning film, and at least two plays calling for his assassination were written, produced, and released.  Anyone suggesting the same as regards Barack Obama would wind up (at the very least) explaining himself in detail and at length to large men in dark suits, and possibly worse.  In our day the two political doctrines have been carefully divided and separated according to very simple criteria: with liberal Democrats every last comma of the rules of etiquette must be followed with punctilio.  With the GOP, anything goes. 

Which brings us to the last two years, in which the final shreds of civilized behavior were trampled in the left’s eagerness to get at the enemy.  A mother of a disabled child was attacked nationwide, in all major media outlets, for giving birth to and raising that child.  Forget about everything else Sarah Palin has endured—the attacks on her other children, the petty legal hassles, the rumors about her marriage, the fake photos, the betrayals from her own side, and so on. Concentrate on that one element.  When I was young, anyone who degraded a woman in such circumstances would have been fired, possibly physically beaten, blacklisted from his industry, and forced out of town, or even out of the country, in order to earn even the lowest type of living.  Today they get booked on The View.  That’s how far we’ve fallen—disabled kids, and their mothers, are fair game in the millennial United States.

And now we’re hearing much the same about Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann.  I’m not sure how this will work out.  Perry shoots his own coyotes when called upon, and Bachmann...well, she has that glint in her eye, the one that reads much the same as a sign saying, “DANGER - UNEXPLODED BOMB.”  You learn not to antagonize girls of a certain type as early as high school.  Can we assume that America’s liberals went to high school?

The point is that it was the liberals who tore up the rule book, flouted tradition, and violated every established tenet of behavior.  When you act this way, you open a door, and you have to accept whatever comes through that door.  The rules and traditions that might have protected you are no longer around to be appealed to.

Obama will be lucky if he is not faced with such a confrontation every week from now until the 2012 election.  He will receive much more and much worse in the way of invective and insult before then.  And he will have earned it.

Blakeman is not wrong in calling for a higher level of behavior.  But he is mistaken in speaking as if such a world actually exists, as if life in the millennial United States consists of men doffing their panamas every time they pass a woman, that each street corner is equipped with an Eagle Scout awaiting random old ladies, and that politicians shaking hands and calling each “old boy” really means something.  This is not the case, and to pretend otherwise, in an environment as debased and toxic as the one in which we live, is to accept humiliation and defeat.  Perhaps we may see a rebirth of politesse and manners at some point to come.  Nothing is impossible, and the social world often shifts between extremes.  But I can tell you this: it will never happen if this country’s liberals continue getting their way.”

“Obama will not lose his bid for the presidency because of his connections to Ayers, ACORN or socialist politics. In fact, he won’t lose it because of his stand on any issue. The coup de grace for Obama’s presidential election downfall will come only through convincing the American public of his lack of decisive leadership under pressure.

I’m not just talking about facing rogue nations or terrorist thugs. I’m referring to making major choices in conflict. Indecisiveness is his greatest weakness, and it’s one this country cannot afford at this time in its history.

Interestingly, a while back, the Unit for the Study of Personality in Politics, at St. John’s University and the College of St. Benedict, did a professional personality profile “for anticipating Obama’s likely leadership style as chief executive, thereby providing a basis for inferring the character and tenor of a prospective Obama presidency.” The study concluded:

“The combination of Ambitious, Accommodating, and Outgoing patterns in Obama’s profile suggests a (SET ITAL)confident conciliator (END ITAL) personality composite. Leaders with this personality prototype, though self-assured and ambitious, are characteristically gracious, considerate, and benevolent. They are energetic, charming, and agreeable, with a special knack for settling differences, favoring mediation and compromise over force or coercion as a strategy for resolving conflict. They are driven primarily by a need for achievement and also have strong affiliation needs, but a low need for power.”

While most might laud Obama’s personality as a needed polar opposite to George W. Bush’s, I pose to you that Obama’s “accommodating-conciliator-favoring-compromise” personality pendulum swing is way too far to the other side. Even Obama’s voting record proves that.

His own Democratic colleagues have a difficult time understanding why, when he was an Illinois state senator, he voted “present” (instead of “yes” or “no”) 129 times, including a number of noncommittal tallies on issues such as gun rights and abortion.

You also have heard that Obama doesn’t have any executive experience, whether it be running a government or a business. I would pose to you the reason is simply that he’s not comfortable making executive decisions. An“executive conciliator” overly depends upon others, at times compromising judgment and needed action in order to appease the masses. Proof of that was seen in how Obama handled his and our “emergency” economic decisions.

A few months ago, Obama did not turn to Warren Buffett for counsel on the housing crisis. As The Washington Post reported July 16, he turned to Franklin Raines, the former Fannie Mae chief executive officer and six-year money manipulator. The Post said Raines took “calls from Barack Obama’s presidential campaign seeking his advice on mortgage and housing policy matters.”

And consider Obama’s handling of the “emergency” bailout crisis. During the first go-round of the bailout, while McCain was certain of his stand, Obama wouldn’t say where he stood because he was afraid it would be a wrong or unpopular stand. Only after most of his political cronies were bribed in favor of the bailout did Obama give it his stamp of approval. If he cannot take decisive action as a senator in the greatest nation on earth, how in the world is he going to make critical and emergency decisions as the president?

Obama’s inability to draw and hold hard lines is the primary reason he repeatedly struggles with—and caves and morphs into—the polls or people in front of him. More than any other politician in history, he has flip-flopped on a host of critical issues: Iraq, Iran, gay rights, NAFTA, abortion, race, religion, gun control, etc. It’s one thing to be political, but it’s quite another to be a chronic people pleaser under pressure. Swaying based on political expediency is not a leadership quality we need in tough times. Sooner or later, that character flaw will bite Obama big-time—and us if we elect him president.

I’m not saying Obama has no continued future in politics. He just needs more experience in life to weed out those character deficiencies. That’s why I’m asking Americans to look afresh at these questions: Is Obama crisis-leadership qualified? Will he truly be ready Jan. 20 to assume the helm of our country?

Actually, those leadership questions have been answered already by three leading Democrats (before they could tastethe perks from their alignment with the Democratic presidential nominee). Obama’s own running mate, Sen. Joe Biden, replied only months ago about whether Obama is ready for the presidency: “Right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.” Then he later told George Stephanopoulos, “I stand by the statement.” Biden was right.

Before Obama was her party’s choice, Hillary Clinton repeatedly proved him to be an indecisive waffler who couldn’t or wouldn’t be pinned down on any issues. Hillary was right.

Even former President Bill Clinton dodged having to give an affirmative answer to an ABC correspondent when asked whether Obama is ready to be president by saying, “You can argue that no one is ready to be president.” Another smooth answer, Bill. The fact is he totally understands that Obama is not ready.

America is in one of its toughest hours—a market meltdown, the worst fiscal environment since the Great Depression—an economic 9/11, if you will. Do we really believe we can be delivered by an indecisive people pleaser as our country’s CEO?”

His promises are as vast as his résumé is short, and some of his pledges are competing ones: progressive rule and centrist red-blue fusion; wholesale transformation and down-to-earth pragmatism.”

“Barack Obama’s lowest moment as a community organizer in the 1980s came when he brought the executive director of the Chicago Housing Authority to Altgeld Gardens, a decrepit housing project, to hear complaints about asbestos. Seven hundred residents grew restless waiting for the tardy director. When he finally appeared, the meeting grew so raucous that the director fled after 15 minutes, to chants of “No more rent!”

“Mr. Obama’s message of change can be hard to pin down, and he has spent his entire career searching for the right way to fulfill his desire for broad social renewal.

First he became a community organizer, thinking change would flow from citizens upward; then he tried the law, which, as he learned from teaching legal history, was a highly imperfect instrument. They cite a proposal he made in the Senate for stringent reporting requirements concerning nuclear plant leaks, which he then softened after Republican colleagues and energy executives complained. The bill died in committee. Or the time he joined a bipartisan coalition on immigration reform but backed away when labor groups protested. That legislation collapsed, too…..”

…Most of all, his critics point to his “present” votes in the Illinois Legislature, in which he did not choose sides, avoiding difficult matters like trying juveniles as adults. At least 36 times (out of thousands of votes) Mr. Obama was the only senator to vote “present,” or one of just a few…

… He won the presidency of the Harvard Law Review in part because, weeks before voting, he made a speech in favor of affirmative action that so eloquently summarized the objections to it that the Review’s conservatives decided he felt their concerns deeply…”

VI. Are We Home Alone?

“I ran into an Indian businessman friend last week and he said something to me that really struck a chord: “This is the first time I’ve ever visited the United States when I feel like you’re acting like an immature democracy.”

You know what he meant: We’re in a once-a-century financial crisis, and yet we’ve actually descended into politics worse than usual. There don’t seem to be any adults at the top — nobody acting larger than the moment, nobody being impelled by anything deeper than the last news cycle.

Instead, Congress is slapping together punitive tax laws overnight like some Banana Republic, our president is getting in trouble cracking jokes on Jay Leno comparing his bowling skills to a Special Olympian, and the opposition party is behaving as if its only priority is to deflate President Obama’s popularity.

I saw Eric Cantor, a Republican House leader, on CNBC the other day, and the entire interview consisted of him trying to exploit the A.I.G. situation for partisan gain without one constructive thought. I just kept staring at him and thinking:“Do you not have kids? Do you not have a pension that you’re worried about? Do you live in some gated community where all the banks will be O.K., even if our biggest banks go under? Do you think your party automatically wins if the country loses? What are you thinking?”

If you want to guarantee that America becomes a mediocre nation, then just keep vilifying every public figure struggling to find a way out of this crisis who stumbles once — like Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner or A.I.G.’s $1-a-year fill-in C.E.O., Ed Liddy — and you’ll ensure that no capable person enlists in government. You will ensure that every bank that has taken public money will try to get rid of it as fast it can, so as not to come under scrutiny, even though that would weaken their balance sheets and make them less able to lend money. And you will ensure that we’ll never get out of this banking crisis, because the solution depends on getting private money funds to team up with the government to buy up toxic assets — and fund managers are growing terrified of any collaboration with government.

President Obama missed a huge teaching opportunity with A.I.G. Those bonuses were an outrage. The public’s anger was justified. But rather than fanning those flames and letting Congress run riot, the president should have said: “I’ll handle this.”

He should have gone on national TV and had the fireside chat with the country that is long overdue. That’s a talk where he lays out exactly how deep the crisis we are in is, exactly how much sacrifice we’re all going to have to make to get out of it, and then calls on those A.I.G. brokers — and everyone else who, in our rush to heal our banking system, may have gotten bonuses they did not deserve — and tells them that their president is asking them to return their bonuses “for the sake of the country.”

Had Mr. Obama given A.I.G.’s American brokers a reputation to live up to, a great national mission to join, I’d bet anything we’d have gotten most of our money back voluntarily.

Inspiring conduct has so much more of an impact than coercing it. And it would have elevated the president to where he belongs — above the angry gaggle in Congress.

“There is nothing more powerful than inspirational leadership that unleashes principled behavior for a great cause,” said Dov Seidman, the C.E.O. of LRN, which helps companies build ethical cultures, and the author of the book “How.”

What makes a company or a government “sustainable,” he added, is not when it adds more coercive rules and regulations to control behaviors. “It is when its employees or citizens are propelled by values and principles to do the right things, no matter how difficult the situation,” said Seidman. “Laws tell you what you can do. Values inspire in you what you should do. It’s a leader’s job to inspire in us those values.”

Right now we have an absence of inspirational leadership. From business we hear about institutions too big to fail — no matter how reckless. From bankers we hear about contracts too sacred to break — no matter how inappropriate.

And from our immature elected officials we hear about how it was all “the other guy’s fault.” I’ve never talked to more people in one week who told me, “You know, I listen to the news, and I get really depressed.”

Well, help may finally be on the way: one reason we’ve been sidetracked talking about bonuses is because the big issue — the real issue — the president’s comprehensive plan to remove the toxic assets from our ailing banks, which is the key to our economic recovery, has taken a long time to hammer out.

So all kinds of lesser issues and clowns have ballooned in importance and only confused people in the vacuum.

Hopefully, that plan will be out by Monday, and hopefully the president will pull the country together behind it, and hopefully the lawmakers who have to approve it will remember that this is not a time for politics as usual — and thatour country, alas, is not too big to fail. Hopefully …”

VII. Obama the Polarizer!

“In January, 2007 Barack Obama declared his candidacy for the presidency with these words:

“It’s not the magnitude of our problems that concerns me the most. It’s the smallness of our politics. America’s faced big problems before. But today, our leaders in Washington seem incapable of working together in a practical, common sense way. Politics has become so bitter and partisan, so gummed up by money and influence, that we can’t tackle the big problems that demand solutions. And that’s what we have to change first. We have to change our politics, and come together around our common interests and concerns as Americans.”

Today, Gallup reports:

“(Obama’s) first-year ratings were the most polarized for a president in Gallup history, with an average 65-point gap between Republicans and Democrats. Obama’s approval ratings have become slightly more polarized thus far in his second year in office, with an average 69-point gap between Democrats (83%) and Republicans (14%) since late January.”

This is a big deal. The first quote is the principal reason Barack Obama ran for President. At a minimum, it was his first public argument for why he thought the country should elect him, as opposed to the dozen or so other candidates who would enter the race. It remained a critically important idea throughout his candidacy. Remember, the Obama campaign was an “audacious” act of line-jumping within the Democratic Party. His justification was that the country couldn’t afford to keep playing the same old political games. The hook of his candidacy was: America, do you reallywant to do Bush-Clinton-Bush-Clinton?

Yet here we are, breaking records for polarization. How did that happen? Why has Obama failed to do what he promised?

I think there are two big reasons.

First, Obama’s implicit claim throughout his candidacy was that public divisiveness was somehow a failure of leadership. This was mostly nonsense. This country has been divided over cultural issues since at least 1973 andRoe v. Wade. It has been divided on fiscal issues since Reagan cut taxes in 1981; this ended the hidden tax of bracket creep, but meant that legislators had to make hard choices between more spending and lower taxes. It has been divided on foreign policy issues since the Bush Administration’s response to 9/11.

These are all real things. They are not rhetorical wrinkles that a Jon Favreau speech can iron out. Obama’s choices have mostly been liberal (with the notable exceptions of dealing with Iraq and Afghanistan). His speechwriters have endeavored to present his choices as win-wins, but their words have failed to persuade because the President’s choices are rarely in fact win-wins. They usually favor one worldview or set of interests over others. Favor one side enough times and the losers will start to see what’s going on, “eloquent” speeches aside.

Second, insofar as leadership could bridge the many divides in this country, this President has never been in a good position to exercise it. He owes too much to others. You don’t win a nomination battle like the Clinton-Obama smackdown without making a bunch of promises. Remember that neither Clinton nor Obama secured enough delegates through the primaries and caucuses; Obama needed the superdelegates, chief among them being Speaker Nancy Pelosi (easily the most powerful Democrat in the country prior to the President’s inauguration). There is a long line of constituent groups in the Democratic Party who certainly needed assurances about what an Obama presidency would look like. So long as reelection remains to be secured, these groups at least have to be monitored if not placated. And so, in a time of great divisiveness, the people with the closest connection to the 44^th President are consistently on one side of the aisle. The left side.

This feature of the Obama presidency came through most clearly on health care. Obama talked a good game about bipartisan compromise, but at no point did I get the impression that he was willing to ditch a guy like George Miller (a far left liberal in the House) to pick up a moderate Republican like Delaware’s Mike Castle. Indeed, George Miller was one of the key authors of the health care bill in the House! There’s no practical way you can get George Miller and Mike Castle to work together on a comprehensive overhaul of the American health care system. They are just too far apart ideologically. So, the question is: whose vote do you value more? Obama’s answer has been crystal clear in his deeds, if not his words. 



Of course, presidents have to tend to their party coalitions. That’s the way its been since the 1790s; John Adams did a lousy job of dealing with the arch-Federalists, and Alexander Hamilton eventually stabbed him in the back. Ever since then, the role of the President as manager of his party has been pretty straightforward. It’s hard to begrudge Obama for trying to manage his party. What’s more, politicians hate to assign losers, so they try to convince us that everybody’s a winner. It’s predictable that Obama would try his hand at this as well. Sure, he promised during the campaign that he’d talk clearly about the hard choices - but anybody who believed that, at least after he ditched public financing of his campaign for nakedly political purposes, was simply looking for a reason to vote for him.

But why won’t he simply own his polarizing presidency? He made the choices he has made, and the consequences have been predictable, so he should own them. But no. As far as he’s concerned, he is the bipartisan bridge builder he promised to be. It’s those damned lying liars on the other side who have distorted his record!

As Matt Welch noted over at Reason, he’s “working the refs.”

“[Obama’s] message...is clear, clever, and wrong. The boom in opinionated, interconnected media is a challenge to our very democracy (it isn’t). News needs to be hermetically sealed from opinion (it doesn’t). The primary purpose of media consumption should be empowerment (if there was a primary purpose for media consumption, I sure as hell wouldn’t trust a president to identify it). And the most dangerous purveyor of untruths is the 24/7 echo chamber...

While hypocritical (given the president’s own slippery relationship with the truth) this critique is strategically clever. For those still inclined to believe it, the message reinforces Obama’s fading image as a truth-telling, above-it-all academic (see the Michigan speech in particular for a bunch of we need to get beyond the tired debate about big-vs.-small-government claptrap). And for the straight-journalism types this is a soothing tongue-bath from the Sensible Centrist in Chief that reinforces their own self-pity/importance and gives them even more motivation to go after the real lying liars: The ones who noisily and hyperbolically oppose the policies of the most powerful man on earth.”

I think this is dead on, and it fits into the point I’m making here. The President could acknowledge that his policies are truly divisive. He could claim that while he respects the objections of the opposition, he believes that in the long run his way of thinking will be vindicated. That would be the grown-up thing to do. That would be real leadership. Instead, he implies that if only we got rid of the right wing talk machine, the public would see that every last one of his policies has been a win-win.

Enough is enough, Mr. President. You’re a polarizing leader in a polarized age. Own it.”

“America’s mainstream media is hard at work on the Obama re-election effort. Nonstop reporting on the Herman Cain allegations, the break-up of the European Union and Occupy Everything is quietly building a playing field or political environment to empower Obama’s excuses.

Here is how it works.

The media has taken a great field of GOP candidates and made them look like a sequel to the Hollywood blockbuster Dumb and Dumber. Each success frontrunner has been mowed down to size by outlandish and journalistically unethical reporting, combined with a nonstop series of debates that produce highlight reels of gotcha questions these so-called reporters never ask Obama.

Obama in contrast simply travels the world at government expense, teleprompter in hand giving well-crafted speeches written by others. The softball questions lofted his way are intended more to boost him than share with Americans the true story of how tough it really is living in the Obama socialist economy.

So we will try to ask some questions here the media should be asking Obama in person.

Mr. Obama: The United States Census Bureau reports that in 84 percent of our largest metropolitan areas, the percentage of “very poor” people increased during 2010, do your policies share any blame for this disaster?

Mr. Obama: The number of people who fell into poverty in 2010, 2.6 million people, was the largest recorded increase since records were first kept in 1959, the number of “poor” has risen from 11.3 percent in 2000 to 15.1 percent today, do you think you could do a better job of stewarding the economy?

Mr. Obama: During 2010, the poverty rate for children hit 22 percent; in at least 314 American counties, a minimum of 30 percent of children live with daily food insecurity; school lunch programs are an indispensible part of the daily food intake for more than 20 million children. Why do you think children are doing so much worse during your tenure in office than during the George W. Bush administrations?

Mr. Obama: More than 45 million Americans live on food stamps. Since the Democrats took control of Congress in 2007, the number of people on food stamps has jumped 74 percent; current projections say that approximately 50 percent of all American children will live on food stamps at some point before he or she reaches 18. How do you intend to empower people to get off these government programs before we have a debt crisis like Europe?

Mr. Obama: One in six Americans now depends on some kind of federal anti-poverty program; food pantries and soup kitchens are serving 46 percent more Americans than they were in 2006; there may be as many as 500,000 American children who are homeless in our country today. How do you explain the continuing collapse in America’s economy as more of your legislative agenda has been made into law?

Mr. Obama: When you see that your prescription for what ails the economy is failing when will you change direction?

Instead of forcing Obama to give Americans answers, we have a media that focuses on destroying any Republican that has the potential to really challenge him. They report heavily on stories that empower Obama’s biggest excuses. Excuses such as: this disaster was caused by George W. Bush don’t blame me, Europe’s problems have become our problems, this is global, don’t blame me. And the classic, if only the wealthy paid their fair share we wouldn’t have these problems, don’t blame me.

The common message shared by Obama and his minions in the media is clear. Obama doesn’t own this economic apocalypse. Collectively they shout, it is someone else’s fault. In the meantime the economic collapse is morphing into a cataclysmic, systemic failure.

In the end we almost expect Obama to smile as he chants in unison with the Occupy crowd, “our failure is America’s fault.”

“The mayor of Richmond, Calif. plans to skip her city’s Veterans Day memorial events to attend an Occupy rally, a choice that’s prompting anger and criticism.

Mayor Gayle McLaughlin will miss a Veterans Day salute Friday in favor of an Occupy Richmond “public speak out,”the San Jose Mercury News reported.

McLaughlin defended her decision, telling the newspaper that the city is not sponsoring the Veterans Day event, and the rally she will attend will honor Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran injured at an Occupy Oakland rally last month. Richmond and Oakland, both in the San Francisco Bay Area, are about 12 miles apart.

“I choose to honor our veterans, not only on Veteran’s Day, but daily, by supporting an end to military warfare to prevent further fighting and dying in needless wars,” she said in an email. “I am a strong supporter of Veterans for Peace and Iraq Vets Against the War.”

McLaughlin, a member of the Green Party elected to a second term last year, has been supportive of the Occupy Wall Street movement since its inception. In a message on her website dated Nov. 6, she said since it “burst onto the scene, calling for an end to corporate domination all over the globe…[w]e, in Richmond, are part of this movement and have everything to gain from it.”

Her website also notes former White House “green jobs czar” Van Jones spoke at her 2010 re-election campaign kickoff.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, she marched in Occupy Oakland’s “general strike” earlier this month — the same march that turned into violent rioting. Asked whether she would support Friday’s protesters if they decide to stay and camp after their rally, she told the Chronicle: “Yeah, I would stand with them for that. I stand with this movement.”

A message on her website urged Richmond residents to attend the Occupy rally as well, scheduled for 11 a.m. — the same time as the Veterans Day events.

Jeff Rubin, a Veterans Day memorial organizer, told the San Jose Mercury News the mayor has “very little respect for the country and traditions” and wondered whether the date of the rally was picked on purpose — a decision McLaughlin said had nothing to do with.

“As mayor, she has a responsibility to everyone in our community,” Rubin said. “Not only the disenfranchised and the unemployed, but to the veterans as well.”

Michael Klasno, director of Gold Star Dads of America, called the mayor’s choice a “slap in the face” to veterans and to grieving parents like himself.

“You don’t blow off the veterans of the United States for anybody, and you certainly don’t blow if off for Occupy Wall Street,” he said. “As somebody who’s paid the ultimate sacrifice, that to me is beyond the pale.”

But McLaughlin countered that exercising freedom is respectful of veterans.

“I think a good way to show respect for our veterans is to put all our energy into promoting the values that veterans fought for and some of them died for,” she said.”

“In November and December of 2004, U.S. Marines were involved in the heaviest urban combat since the Vietnam War as they went house-to-house rooting out insurgents in the terror stronghold of Fallujah, Iraq.  In all, fifty-one brave Americans would be killed and 560 wounded in the battle that would be the bloodiest of the Iraq War but one which would eventually turn the tide toward victory in Iraq and signal a significant defeat for America’s radical Islamic enemies.

Shockingly and tragically, at the same time our servicemen were staring into the eyes of evil, Senator Barbara Boxer and Congressman Henry Waxman were conspiring with radical leftist groups Code Pink and Global Exchange. Groups who were committed to America’s defeat in Iraq and were providing aid and support to our nation’s enemies.  In December 2004, Boxer and Waxman (along with fellow congressmen Dennis Kucinich of Ohio and Raul Grijalva of Arizona) signed letters of diplomatic courtesy to the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan, facilitating the transfer of more than $600,000 in cash and supplies to the insurgents and their families who were fighting and murdering U.S. servicemen and contractors in Fallujah.  Henry Waxman’s letter, dated December 14, 2004, was addressed to American Consul General Daniel Goodspeed and requested assistance on behalf of radical anti-war groups Palisadians for Peace and Global Exchange.

As I detail in my newest book, Conduct Unbecoming: How Barack is Destroying the Military and Endangering Our Security, Global Exchange and its sister group Code Pink are anti-military organizations intent on undermining America in its war against radical Islamic fundamentalism.  Code Pink was founded in Santa Monica, CA in November, 2002 by American radicals Jodie Evans, Medea Benjamin, and Diane Wilson.  Evans is the leader of Code Pink which is closely aligned with Medea Benjamin’s group Global Exchange.

Don’t know Jodie Evans? Barack Obama, Barbara Boxer, and Henry Waxman do… and you need to as well.

Since 9/11, Evans and Code Pink have worked ceaselessly to undermine America’s efforts in the war against radical Islam and in the U.S. military’s involvement in combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Before U.S. forces had even commenced military operations in Iraq in March 2003, Evans and Code Pink established the Iraq Occupation Watch (IOW) with an office in Baghdad with the specific intent to undermine the U.S. forces in Iraq by encouraging  soldiers to seek discharges, claim “conscientious objector” status, or go A.W.O.L. (absent without leave). They also attempted to drum up false reports of American “war crimes” in an effort to influence international media to condemn the U.S. military action.

More egregiously, and in what can only be termed “treason,” it was only a year later that a team of American leftists, including Evans and Benjamin, personally delivered $600,000 in cash and supplies to the very insurgents the Marines had been fighting against – quite literally giving aid and comfort to America’s enemies in a time of war.  It was an article published at Islam Online which confirmed that Senator Boxer and Representative Waxman had written their letters of “diplomatic courtesy” addressed to the American ambassador to facilitate the transport of this aid by Code Pink and Global Exchange through Jordanian customs.

The letters from Boxer and Waxman, according to the January 4, 2005 article written by Islam Online correspondent Adam Wild Aba, were needed in order to successfully deliver supplies to the Iraqi people.  The U.S. military and the Iraqi Provisional Government were refusing access to the battlefields for obvious reasons. Since January, 2005, until Tuesday of this week, the Islam Online article and its link were active online. With the growing buzz on the internet about the complicity of Boxer, Waxman, and Code Pink, Islam Online removed the link (at whose request remains uncertain). In a press conference in Amman following the transfer of the aid and money to the insurgents, Benjamin crowed to reporters, “I don’t know of any other case in history in which the parents of fallen soldiers collected medicine… for the families of the ‘other side’… It is a reflection of a growing movement in the United States … opposed to the unjust nature of this war.”

Thanks to her help, the Code Pink website praises their favorite senator as “our beloved Barbara Boxer.”  Code Pink’s website praises Boxer here.

But Jodie Evans isn’t just some left-wing California whacko, she’s well known in California’s progressive circles, a former staff member for Governor Jerry Brown, and a key fundraiser and “bundler” for President Barack Obama.

Barack Obama’s first major event after announcing his long-shot run for the presidency in February 2007 was a Hollywood fundraiser co-hosted by Evans. Along with her partner and ex-husband Max Palevsky, and Dreamworks braintrust Steven Spielberg, David Geffen, and Jeffry Katzenberg, Evans successfully pulled together the rich and the radical in Los Angeles to support the emerging wunderkind. A few weeks ago she hosted a similar fundraiser for California Democrat gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown at her Santa Monica home.

It is too bad Ms. Evans didn’t use her fundraising talents and Hollywood connections to help America’s fighting men and women along the way. Instead, she turned against them with the support of Boxer and Waxman. And, now, with no clear record of who specifically was given the more than $600,000 in cash and goods that the groups brought into the warzone, concerned families of soldiers killed while fighting in the War on Terror and patriotic Americans are beginning to ask the questions that should have been raised years ago.

Capt. Benjamin Gifford (USMC), an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran was infuriated after learning that Boxer and Waxman contributed to the Code Pink mission behind enemy lines. Gifford, whose younger brother, Micah, was killed while serving in Iraq in 2006, has demanded an explanation from the two high-power Democrats. “My brother Micah gave his life for his country. He knew he was doing the right thing,” Gifford said. “I don’t understand how Barbara Boxer and Henry Waxman can possibly think that what they allowed was in the best interest of our nation.”

Chuck Wilkerson, the Republican candidate running against Waxman this election cycle, has described Waxman’s action in helping provide aid to a declared enemy as “outrageous” and “beyond belief.”  In an official statement released Wednesday, Wilkerson said, “It’s bad enough that Congressman Waxman voted against funding our troops in combat, but to actively support those opposing forces who killed our own brothers and sisters is beyond forgiveness. This borders on treason.” Wilkerson, a Marine veteran himself, fought in Korea during the 1952 conflict.

In the final days of a difficult reelection bid, Barbara Boxer is attempting to emphasize veteran’s issues in a feckless attempt to deflect criticism of her long history of undermining the U.S. military.  It’s time, however, to reveal her true animus towards all things military.

A black website published one of my articles. The black publisher asked his readers to forgive me for being a black member of the GOP and review my article with an open mind.

In response, a subscriber wrote, "You can ask us to look past him being a GOP, but you can't ask us to look past his claim to be a tea party Christian."

Grateful for an opportunity to enlighten indoctrinated blacks, I asked the website publisher to publicly post my reply to the ill-informed subscriber's comment.

Please do not think me rude or mean by stating the following truth. The subscriber's comment reflects an ignorance of the facts and history prevalent in the black community.

Many blacks erroneously believe the GOP consists of rich racist white people. In reality, the GOP was founded to free blacks. Only five years after slavery, there were black congressmen, all Republicans. The KKK, Jim Crow laws, segregation, and denying blacks the right to vote where all birthed by Democrats.

Even today, Democrats are still "keeping blacks in their place" -- telling them they need lowered standards, affirmative action, special programs, and freebies to succeed. Democrats constantly send blacks the message they are not as smart was whites. For example, Democrats say having to show ID when voting disenfranchises blacks. This is merely a tactic by which the Democrats implement voter fraud. However, in the process, they are saying blacks are too stupid to find their way to the DMV or other places to acquire proper ID. This is just one example of numerous ways Democrats tell blacks they are inferior and need Democrats' help to succeed.

Republicans deal with blacks respectfully, as equals. Democrats thrive on blacks believing themselves to be victims, despite being blessed to be born in the greatest land of opportunity on the planet. Foreigners are trying to get to America in cardboard boats held together with duct tape. Democrats punish and hate blacks who compete with whites and succeed without Democrat lowered standards and involvement.

While sold as compassion and "fairness," Democrat programs are always about making as many people as possible dependent on government to secure/buy votes. In the long run, all Democrat policies and programs hurt people!

There are black idiot knucklehead racists who want to believe a lie rather than the truth. Yes, I said black racists. I reject and resent the satanic notion that because of slavery, blacks have a right to be racist. Racism is evil, period, whether it comes from blacks or whites. It you disagree, it is fruitless to continue reading this article. I will keep you in my prayers.

In reality, history confirms that the black community has been sleeping with the enemy for years by monolithically voting Democrat. News flash, black voters: the Democrats "ain't" your friends.

Every program which demeans and stifles blacks has come and continues to come from the Democrats. Republicans continue to be the party extremely supportive of black individuality, the party full of nurturers of black entrepreneurial success.

Democrats still want to keep blacks on their plantation of needing government handouts -- thus keeping blacks dependent on government, thus keeping blacks voting for Democrats, who promise to give them stuff via programs. To make their scam work, Democrats also tell blacks that Republicans are burning the midnight oil planning ways to "keep them down." Thus, you blacks need us Democrats to keep evil rich white Republicans off your backs.

In a nutshell, blacks are being played by the Democrats. So you can imagine my frustration and impatience with ignorant knuckleheads who trash me for being a Republican. I am working to liberate my people -- to ensure that they be treated with dignity and respect, and not as needy, inferior supplicants.

When I became supervisor of my mostly white department at a TV station, rather than celebrating me and my achievement, my liberal and Democrat friends demeaned my achievement by saying I got the job due to affirmative action. Wrong. I got the job because I proved myself most qualified. "That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!"

Now, let's talk about the Tea Party.

Again, all you folks who think the Tea Party is racist are ignorant of the facts and just plain wrong! I am sorry, but that is the gospel truth. You are being "played" by the Democrats and their liberal media buddies, who also "secretly" think we blacks are inferior and need their help to succeed.

As a singer and speaker, I have attended over three hundred Tea Parties nationwide, on five Tea Party Express national bus tours. I have been warmly embraced by the mostly white audiences because we share a love for America and are opposed to socialism. These Tea Party folks are not opposing Obama's skin color. They are opposing his agenda.

A Congressional Black Caucus member actually said the white folks at the Tea Parties want to "see blacks hanging from trees." Knowing what I know from my personal experience, the Caucus member's statement is irresponsible, absurd, shameful, and divisively evil -- all about ginning up racial hate and securing votes for Obama. Despicable!

Now, I know some blacks who are stuck on stupid and hate who want to believe otherwise. So be it. All I ask is that before you write me off as an Uncle Tom traitor, check you facts. And quite frankly, I do not care what anyone thinks of me, because I know I am on the Lord's side. God bless.

How to Destroy America in 13 Lessons

            If you were an enemy of the U.S.A wanting to deliberately undermine the nation’s economy, and weaken this country, how would you most effectively carry out your hostile mission while avoiding detection?  How would you carry out your nefarious plans?  Your first goal would be to raise the nation’s joblessness.  You’d have to create statistics that actually hid the devastating size of the true numbers behind gobblygook B.S. statistics so people saw 9% unemployment when the true figure was almost double that. Most importantly, you dramatically increased the size and scope of government to strangle the free enterprise system with taxation, burdensome regulations, unnecessary environmental restrictions and wild uncertainty about the future.  Now the ball’s rolling, what next?   Follow this 13-step roadmap: 

1)  Attack corporate profits and rich individuals every chance you get casting them as enemies of “the 99%.”  Forget mentioning that living standards for everyone rise when corporations make profits and entrepreneurs are successful.  Give us the highest corporate taxes in the world, driving companies anywhere but America and making us uncompetitive with economies like China’s.

2)  Refuse to call spades, “spades.”  So when the nation’s UNfunded liabilities and national debt reach $116 TRillion and $15 TRillion respectively, hide the looming economic Armageddon behind talk about “putting the burden on the elderly, the poor, the middle class” (the very people who would be MOST helped by reforming Social Security, Medicare, and the federal side of Medicaid) and covering up the fact that you are bankrupting the nation and putting the burden on our children and grandchildren.

3)  Promise to “make electricity prices skyrocket” and drive energy costs like gasoline and heating oil dramatically higher with an “energy” program that emphasizes conservation over production.  Deliberately seek to drive the coal industry (47% of our present energy) bankrupt.  To think the people you’re driving to the unemployment lines happy extend their benefits, they’ll never know you cost them their jobs.

4)  Because no one can be against a clean environment, safe working conditions, and protecting consumers . . . let’s employ a hyper-active program of safety and regulation and ecology carried to ridiculous extremes.  Demand changes in every damn thing possible thus escalating the cost of doing business and cutting production.  People are so dumb they'll never connect the dots, will they?

5)  Double-down on the environment.  Stop irrigation in the nation’s vegetable basket and drive unemployment sky high in Central California.  Close down jobs to protect strange mice, tiny fish and spotted owls knowing that long before men were around Mother Nature had already made 99.99999% of all species extinct without any help from man; and since the 15^th Century, Mother Nature eliminated 99.996% of all species that died out again without man’s help.  Let’s get that last ¼ of 1% of pollution and kill another 100,000 jobs by all means. 

6)  Drive jobs out of right-to-work states and out of the United States altogether by coddling the unions and their stranglehold upon the workplace.  Emphasize workers rights and never mention what it does to the taxpayer.

7)  Get the young attacking capitalism by raising the minimum wage ceaselessly.  Once the minimum wage is high enough who’s going to hire them?   Of course that and outrageous union demands; and outrageous payment and benefits for government workers at all levels will make us totally uncompetitive in the world markets driving unemployment higher and corporate profits far lower.   The young won’t like “zero dollar non-jobs” and they’ll attack Wall Street and corporations never realizing you “done them in,” you caring rascal you.

8) Ignore the U.S. Constitution and vastly expand the scope and power to foul things up of the Washington bureaucracy.  Require industries to meet certain standards like 35 mpg for the automotive fleets and then destroy perfectly good used cars giving “cash for clunkers.”  Never mention that now that used car shoppers are paying an average of $2,100 more and that the ecological impact of the program was devastating.  Never mention that so-called hybrid cars are five times harder on the environment than regular ICE (internal combustion engine) cars are . . . and that for environmental reasons all these hybrid jobs are now in Canada. 

9)  Dramatically increase SNAP (food stamps) and other welfare programs and extend jobless benefit durations to 380% of their former weekly limits (26 to 99 weeks) and make it “nonsensical” to take lower level work rather than getting paid to stay at home.   Who wouldn’t reject a job at $10 per hour if staying home nets you $9 per?

10)  Raise the inheritance or “death” tax so that family farms and businesses must be sold to pay taxes; and give no support for new investment (keep taxes high all around) because the voters will believe whatever nonsense you’ll tell them about slower growth, reduced industrial capacity, and lowered need for new workers . . . the more they complain they more likely you’ll be able to sell them on the next wave of government interference and spending boondoggles you’ve got up your sleeve.

11)  When the downturns come, as they must, blame them on the “Free Market” that you’ve been so effectively garroting for the last 46 years (since LBJ with kudos to Carter, Obama and G.W. Bush) and apply even more restrictions upon business.

12)  Never let on that all the government’s major decisions for almost half a century have caused the debt and UNfunded liabilities crisis that is on the verge of making the dollar of today worth six cents in 1964 buying power.

13)  Never let on that promising voters everything in accord you’re your “nanny-state” mission is the underlying cause of the recent collapse and that you, you progressive politician, you are behind it all:

            a)  That the near-depression of 1973-74 and the bankruptcy and bail out of New York City in 1975 were the result of Cloward-Piven strategies that doubled the nation’s welfare rolls from eight to sixteen million recipients courtesy of C-P’s National Welfare Rights Organization and their Saul Alinsky street theater tactics.

            b)  That the architects of that collapse were the architects of ACORN which took advantage of Jimmy Carter’s Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 (CRA '77) and four expansions by Bill Clinton (three legislative and one regulatory edict expansions of CRA '77) to FORCE banks and mortgage companies for three decades to knowingly make stupid loans to unqualified home buyers without jobs; without credit; whose only “income” was food stamps; and even to illegal aliens.

            c)  Never admit that the cheerleaders while all this was going on (and while one of our major parties was selling out to the progressive-left) was CPUSA, the Communist party.

            d)  Never admit that the biggest funder of our current president; of “Occupy Wall Street”; and of several major progressive foundations (e.g. Code Pink; Tides Foundation etc. which are also funding the President and Occupy Wall Street) is octogenarian George Soros, the money-manipulator and currency dealer known as “the man who broke the bank of England” (and five other currencies) and that George Soros the world’s 6^th largest man looks to become the world’s far and away richest man when, not if, the dollar collapses.

e)  Never admit that the elephant in the room while all this was going on in Washington and elsewhere is the mainstream media (MSM) . . . which has chosen to abandon fair and balanced and relevant journalism to support the politicians and the extreme political left to make all this madness possible.

f)  Never admit that you count on the voters to be “useful idiots” and to entertain themselves with sit-coms and reality TV rather than defending their own freedoms and our once-great nation.  Ultimately, they’re at fault even beyond the MSM.

“Move over Occupy Wall Street; the impeach Obama rallies are going viral.

As veterans and patriotic Americans gather Friday morning in Washington, D.C., to protest for Barack Obama’s immediate resignation or impeachment, they will have a counterpart rally in San Diego — complete with a sky banner proclaiming “IMPEACH OBAMA” — just as the president plans to visit the city.

The West Coast demonstration is being planned by the Impeach Obama Tea Party and Stop Obama Now – San Diego.

Organizers got the idea after Barack Obama announced he was visiting the city to honor veterans. Naturally, he’s actually going to watch basketball.

After all, November 11 is not just a day to remember the sacrifices of America’s enlisted men; it’s also the day of the “Carrier Classic,” when the Michigan State Spartans will face off against the University of North Carolina Tarheels in the first-ever collegiate basketball game played on an aircraft carrier. Another historic Obama first! In a statement, the White House boasted:

This Veterans Day, President Obama will honor our nation’s veterans by laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery and then by traveling to San Diego, California, to attend the Carrier Classic on the deck of the USS Carl Vinson. He looks forward to a great game between Michigan State and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. (Emphases added.)

Mike Whalen, director of Morale Entertainment Foundation which organized the game, has said while the mostly military crowd of ticket holders will observe stadium seating, Obama can sit “wherever he wants.”

He feels their pain.

The college titans will play onboard the USS Carl Vinson, the ship where Osama bin Laden was buried at sea, in San Diego Bay. Organizers have rented an airplane to fly a special “Impeach Obama” sky banner before the game. The banner will fly from 7-9 a.m. Pacific time, before security requires the skies be shut down. Organizers write:

The banner is intended for the public to see, not for Obama. The banner will also have the time and place of the protest to be held later that day. The actual message will be the following:

IMPEACH OBAMA / PROTEST 3PM NORTH ISLAND

“North Island” is short for the “North Island Naval Air Station.”

The San Diego Impeach Obama protest will take place from 3-6 p.m. PST at the corner of Tow Way and Gowan Street in Coronado, California. The group hopes a large crowd will show up to be seen by the game’s visitors.

San Diego has been a hotbed of anti-Obama citizen activism. Patriots posted an online video of an “impeach Obama” rally held in the city last year.

The San Diego protest comes the same day that veterans, small business owners, and Tea Party activists are gathering in Washington, D.C., to call for the immediate resignation or impeachment of every official in the Obama administration. The Veteran Defenders’s “Declaration to Restore the Constitutional Republic” states, “We call upon ALL independent truckers, independent contractors, all non-union workers, all independent business owners, agents and investors, all who support free-market capitalism and the right to work, earn and own, to march together with our veterans and former service members on November 11, 2011 – Veterans Day!” The protest in the nation’s capital begins at 6 a.m. EST at the Washington Monument and will last until 5 p.m.

In numerology, 4 is stability, the symbol of law, system and order. It is the builder submitting to earthly things where form and substance are the predominant elements.

In Entangled Minds, chapter 4, Dean Radin, student of the paranormal, wrote  the reason some of us understand things others don’t is due to a property paranormal specialists know as “latent inhibition, an unconscious process that degrades the ability to pay attention to stimuli that in the past has had no consequence.”

The more the latent inhibition, the more focused one is, the more tuned into system and order. The more imaginative one is, the less the focused attention.  They are more creative and better suited for change.  

When I came into this life, I couldn’t talk or walk. I fell a lot. Got burned on the stove.  Crying didn’t help.  After I grew teeth, I was expected to eat the food put before me, most of which I didn’t like. A lot was expected of me. Small children have short attention spans. They are more imaginative, more creative. They have low latent inhibition.

 After I had become comfortable with the routine at home, I was hustled off to school, and a whole new, somewhat hostile world. And if that wasn’t bad enough, came the day I had to exist on what I was taught. I was a slow learner. At midlife, I had no place to go, and left strictly on my own. After the initial feeling of panic, then acceptance, and finally what to do, I decided to cut out and start from scratch.

 I decided to write a book of memoirs. Thinking back on my life caused me to pay attention to the stimuli I’d ignored. 

 Radin remarked that he was not a good history student. I flunked high school history.  Said Radin, learning dates and places of important events isn’t the important thing to learn. Radin and I think alike on this: who we are and what we are about is deeply rooted in the past. Whatever the challenge and whatever the reaction is the important thing to know about history.

Again, Radin and I think alike. Early Americans, Radin points out in chapter 4, did not have “cell phones and grocery stores and life was hard. Nature was unpredictable and unforgiving. . . Magic has been defined as ‘the employment of effective techniques to allay anxiety when effective ones are not available.’” In other words, necessity is the mother of invention.

Magic, we know, is a hand-is-quicker-than-the-eye game. The mainstream, focused on this or that, don’t see themselves as the individual they were created to be. These latently inhibited folks don’t see which shell the pea is under.  Their attention is focused on things. This leaves the door open to political, legal, and religious authorities to practice their magic on us. 

The author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, was a deist. Deism: belief in the existence of God on the evidence of reason and nature, with rejection of supernatural revelation. We Americans are told we practice freedom of religion. It’s a shell game. Some Americans want us to be freed altogether of religion. A Christian told me I was a secular humanist. I looked it up.  Secular humanism: any set of beliefs that promotes human values—without specific allusion to religious doctrines; in other words, deism.

Under secular humanism is secularism: a system of political or social philosophy that rejects religious faith and worship; the view that public education and other matters of civil policy should be conducted without the influence of religious beliefs. Distinguish the difference. Secularism embraces the expedient idea that Jesus was a socialist: that Christians who believe otherwise are against Jesus. President Obama is an advocate of Liberation theology, “collective salvation.”  It’s a shell game dividing America.  United we stand, divided, we fall. To be sure, we Americans are “latently inhibited.” One never knows where the ax will fall next.

In 1975, I was living from hand to mouth. The IRS claimed, mistakenly, that I owed $1,500 in tax. My landlord was threatening to lock me out for non-payment of rent. Uncle Sam was taking in withholding tax 20 percent of my meager wages. I had petitioned the Tax Court but that didn’t solve the immediate problem. If I didn’t pay the tax the IRS said I owed, the IRS had the right to seize my car, the only thing of value I owned. I would lose my job—be a homeless bum on the street.  

I filed a carry back tax refund form for $5,000 of already paid tax I was entitled to get back. The IRS informed me that it was taking the $1,500 tax I allegedly owed off of what it owed me and would not send the balance until I withdrew my petition to the Tax Court, thinking I’d be forced to accept this deal. The IRS was not authorized to hold the balance of my refund. The IRS was breaking the law in more than one way. The IRS knew that its $1,500 assessment was erroneous.

The IRS was playing the old shell game on the wrong person. I’d made an intense study of the law. I knew which shell the pea was under.  I could play the same game.  I made it known to Attorney General William B. Saxbe in 1973 that the United States was unconstitutionally taxing me.  He forwarded my letter to Director of Internal Revenue Ervin B. Osborne for answer, who wrote:

"I am glad to respond to your letter of August 19 addressed to me and your letter of July 12 addressed to Attorney General William B. Saxbe, which has been passed along to me for reply."

"You asked if Congress has the right to tax any amount of personal income tax up to 100%, with no limitations."

 "The 16^th Amendment to the Constitution, which was passed by Congress in 1909 and finally ratified by three-fourths of the states in 1913 provides . . . "

 "This Amendment to the Constitution, which has been upheld by the Supreme Court, makes no mention of limitations, so I assume that Congress has the power to tax total income at a given level."

 Imagine that, assuming the power to take every cent of our effort to provide for ourselves.  I doubt very much that you knew that.  The Director was lying. It was not the 16^th Amendment he wrote about. It was the 3,000,000 ambiguous word-long U.S. Tax Code. A congressional shell game gave your elected representative full control over your lives.

The law said I had the right to challenge the IRS “mistake” in Tax Court, but I must pay the deliberately mistaken tax and wait three or four years to be heard, an act of Congress. Clearly, America’s elected representatives, due to the latent inhibition in the American people, were taking away my right to exist in violation of a fundamental right.  Due to latent inhibition, the United States, the world’s police force, is out of control. Today is Veteran’s Day. I’m a World War II veteran. Since World War II, the American people have been needlessly sacrificing their lives and going bankrupt fighting losing wars.  

The beginning of the greatest fraud of all times, the United States of America, was In 1937, and by none other than We-have-nothing-to-fear Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal Law—the old shell game.  Claimed Roosevelt, “The balance between the three great branches of the Federal Government has been tipped out of balance by the courts in direct contradiction of the high purposes of the framers of the Constitution. We have reached the point where we must take action to save the Constitution from the Court.” 

A Roosevelt appointee to the Supreme Court, Justice Brandeis, asserted, “Property is only a means. It has been a frequent error of our Court that they have made the means an end.”  Goodbye to my inalienable right to exist on the fruits of my labor.  The United States gave itself the authority to put me on the street and nobody knew that, thanks to latent inhibition.  The law in today’s America is based on the majority vote. Anything can be lawful.  The house of cards America’s elected representatives have built will collapse. You can be sure of that. And then what?  What’s taking place in America today is a repeat performance of what happened in Germany. The Weimer government, the same as America’s government, ran the nation bankrupt. Hitler was the answer. The likes of Obama is America’s answer.
