Iran issued dramatic new demands around the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the United Arab Emirates said one of its ships was targeted by an Iranian missile. Yemen’s military attacked the country’s Iranian-backed Houthi rebels. And Turkey’s Kurdish peace bill won approval in parliament.

Iran says the strait won’t open until the US ‘corrects’ its behavior
Iran’s politburo-like body known as the Supreme National Security Council said the Strait of Hormuz will not open until the United States “corrects its behavior,” issuing new demands that could shake up talks on a deal to manage the waterway.
Iran’s state broadcaster published the statement by the council’s secretary, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who is also a commander in the powerful Revolutionary Guard.
The United States must never threaten Iran again, the statement said, and must permanently end the war with Iran and its armed allies in the region. The U.S. must lift the naval blockade of Iranian ports and withdraw its military from the area. It must “completely compensate” Iran for war damage, lift sanctions and “unconditionally” release frozen assets.
The U.S., which has wanted an acceptable deal first on the strait before ending the blockade, had no immediate comment. According to the interim deal signed in June, a schedule to end sanctions and plan on compensation would be part of the final deal, and negotiations would address frozen assets.
Iran has said it was close to reaching a separate deal with Oman to manage the strait, which runs between the two countries.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi earlier Saturday said they were close to reaching an agreement on navigation. But the waterway’s reopening is contingent on other conditions, he said in remarks shared on social media, and blamed the situation on what he called the U.S. violation of the interim deal.
Oman, a mediator Gulf Arab country which has said relatively little on the talks, said in a statement discussions were ongoing “in a positive and constructive atmosphere,” and condemned attacks on ships on the strait.
Details emerge about potential Iran-Oman deal
The strait, crucial to global supplies of oil and natural gas, was considered an international waterway before the war.
The deal Iran and Oman are working to finalize would be temporary, but it would reopen the strait with ships entering the strait through a route close to Iran and exiting through a route close to Oman, according to two people familiar with the talks who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.
Ships would cross the strait without paying fees or tolls during the interim period.
The agreement is designed to restore an earlier, separate agreement between the U.S. and Iran and restart a 60-day clock for the two countries to negotiate over Iran’s nuclear program.
During that time, Iran is expected to be able to sell oil. The current 60-day deadline to negotiate a final deal is due to end in just over a week.
According to the two people who spoke about the talks, the deal is endorsed by members of the Gulf Cooperation Council and expected when finalized to be jointly announced by Iran, Oman, the U.S., and the International Maritime Organization of the United Nations. But the people stressed the terms could still change before the deal is final.

The Strait of Hormuz is, by some accounts, named for a Zoroastrian deity destined to emerge victorious after a 9,000-year standoff with an adversary.
Iran’s leaders feel their own victory is at hand and won’t require the same epic patience.
They are betting that military pressure will ultimately force the United States to accept their control over the crucial waterway for global energy — and that time is on their side.
They know about the diminishing stockpiles of key U.S. weapons such as advanced missile interceptors. They know the war is deeply unpopular with Americans. They know that as long as the strait is largely closed, the price of gas and other goods will stay high ahead of U.S. congressional elections in November. They know that trying to open it by force would be costly and may require American ground troops. They know their Houthi allies in Yemen could widen the war and disrupt another major trade route.
By that logic, U.S. President Donald Trump has no choice but to capitulate.
But Iran’s strategy carries risks.
Trump points to strikes that have decimated Iran’s top leadership, navy and air force. He alternates between threatening escalation and saying talks are going well. Iran’s own economy has been battered, in part because of a U.S. blockade. Iranians rose up in mass protests just months ago and could do so again.
And Iran’s leaders need only look to how Trump’s “short-term excursion” to the Middle East has bogged down to be reminded that wars rarely turn out as expected.

An evolving deal could give Iran a major win
Iran says it is close to reaching a deal with Oman to manage the strait, which runs between the countries. But on Saturday, Tehran said the strait will not open until the U.S. “corrects its behavior,” saying it must permanently end the war, lift its naval blockade of Iranian ports and withdraw its military from the area. It also must “completely compensate” Iran for war damage, lift sanctions and “unconditionally” release frozen assets.
There was no White House comment.
A deal with Oman would formalize Tehran’s control over what had been an open international waterway before the war, one that carried a fifth of the world’s traded oil and gas.
Abdolreza Davari, an analyst who once advised former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, said Iran’s effective control of the strait has given it leverage with the U.S. and regional countries that can help guarantee its security.
“More than revenue from the strait, Iran wants to confirm its management and sovereignty over the strait,” he said by phone from Tehran.
Formal control over even part of the strait would be a clear win for Iran and a loss for the U.S., which has yet to accomplish some of its various and shifting goals in the war.
It would also deal a blow to global norms on freedom of navigation and set a precedent that much of the world would find disturbing — that nations can shut down trade choke points at will.
China, which buys oil from Iran and has influence over it, said as recently as May that “normal and safe passage” through the strait should be restored.

Iran feels time is on its side
To borrow a phrase from Trump’s own theory of geopolitics, Iran believes it holds the cards.
“They started the war, but its end was never with them. We always decide for ourselves when it ends,” Mahdi Mohammadi, an adviser to Iran’s chief negotiator, posted on social media. “Iran is going after the enemy’s defeat — not an agreement.”
He said a surprise Iranian attack on Jordan in July “compensated” for a drop in oil prices. That contributed to the collapse of an interim agreement reached in June that had offered significant concessions to Iran, including a U.S. waiver to sell oil internationally and the promise of broader sanctions relief.
Iran has repeatedly said the Strait of Hormuz will not go back to being an open waterway, and that it will keep attacking ships trying to transit without its permission. Iran’s joint military command has called it an “unbreakable red line.”
“For Iran, the Strait of Hormuz has become a strategic lever for deterrence, maintaining the regional balance of power, and reshaping the security rules in the Persian Gulf,” said Mostafa Najafi, a Tehran-based security analyst.
That poses a major obstacle to ending the war, much less resolving the even more complex, long-standing dispute over Iran’s nuclear program.
“The atomic issue, because of the conflict in the Strait of Hormuz, has been pushed to the side, and in reality, that is in Iran’s interests,” said Rahman Ghahremanpour, an Iran-based analyst. Control of the strait would give Iran leverage if the nuclear talks resume, he added.

It’s still a risky gamble
The economic fallout from the war has spread worldwide but is particularly acute in Iran.
U.S. and Israeli strikes have pummeled its industrial base. The U.S. blockade has choked off much of its oil exports. Iranians are grappling with triple-digit food inflation. Trump has repeatedly threatened major strikes on civilian infrastructure like water and electricity.
In December, a currency crisis sparked some of the biggest anti-government protests in the 47-year history of the Islamic Republic. Authorities responded with a bloody crackdown in which thousands were killed and tens of thousands detained.
Many in Iran, including those close to its moderate President Masoud Pezeshkian, fear it may go too far.
Mohammad Javad Zarif, who as foreign minister helped negotiate the 2015 nuclear deal, wrote in a recent essay that Iran’s achievements in the war had opened “an exceptional window for diplomacy.” But he warned that if it doesn’t strike a deal soon, then “economic recovery will be difficult, and the possibility of internal unrest or renewed aggression, especially after the U.S. elections, cannot be ruled out.”

The war has already been marked by surprises.
After the first wave of U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Feb. 28 killed Iran’s supreme leader and other top officials, Trump suggested it would be over in a matter of weeks.
Instead, the conflict has emboldened Iran’s leaders and mobilized their supporters. Tehran is using the strait “to show that it has not been defeated,” Ghahremanpour said. “It can increase its legitimacy at home.”
But the strategy could also backfire. Iran’s resilience has limits and there are concerns that an economic crash could trigger unrest. “Iran cannot continue with this strategy forever, and at a certain point, in reality, it has to reach a deal with America,” he said.
But Davari said that for now, Iran can withstand the pressure. “It’s unlikely, despite the difficulties of the economic situation, that Iran will retreat from its positions,” he said.

Enough is enough. Iran’s soul is not defined by Islam. Its spirit cannot be caged by a barbarian ideology imposed upon the civilization of Iran. For generations, this cult has fractured the nation, dimmed its brilliance, and chained its people to shadows. Islam has brought only division, oppression, and shadows – never peace.
Telling Iranians to celebrate Islam is like asking someone to cherish the very weapon that scarred them, simply because they later polished it.
Iran is not the land of clerics and fanaticism. It is the land of Zarathustra, the legacy of Cyrus the Great – a civilization built on dignity, wisdom, and leadership long before desert chaos swept in from Arabia. It’s time to reclaim that greatness.
The day will come when Western nations look toward Iran – the nation that broke free from Islam’s grip. Doubt it now, but history will prove it. I’ve tried to awaken America for decades, but America resists salvation. Welcome back to Persia.
While the streets of major European capitals and American cities echo with endless apologies, accommodations, and systemic catering to Islamic orthodoxy, a profound, historic rebellion is quietly brewing in the heart of the Middle East. Western governments, blinded by institutional guilt, cultural relativism, and political correctness, bend over backward to appease an ideology that fundamentally opposes Western liberal values. Leaders in London, Paris, Berlin, and Washington fall over themselves to fund, protect, and normalize religious dogmatism, believing they are championing diversity. In reality, they are importing and nurturing the very intolerant systems that their own Enlightenment fought centuries to escape.
Every major Western nation bows to the altar of political sensitivity, too paralyzed by fear of backlash to address the authoritarian core of Islamic governance. They tolerate the intolerable, normalize the regressive, and silence domestic critics under the guise of progressivism.
Yet, across the globe, one nation-and one nation alone-stands as the living, breathing antidote to this global capitulation. That nation is Iran.
To understand modern Iran, one must look past the turbulent veneer of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and the iron-fisted tyranny of the mullahs. The current regime does not represent the soul of the Iranian people; it is an occupying ideological force holding an ancient culture hostage.
For over fourteen centuries, Iranians have endured an identity crisis born from conquest. The Arab invasion dismantled the mighty Sasanian Empire, replacing a civilization of philosophy, science, art, and light with a system of absolute religious submission. Zoroastrianism-the ancient Iranian faith centered on Good Thoughts, Good Words, and Good Deeds-was systematically suppressed, replaced by a theology that many contemporary Iranians view as fundamentally foreign to their national ethos.
Today, the citizens of Iran are waging a silent, daily war against their oppressors. From underground Christian conversions and secular defiance to massive nationwide protests led by brave women burning mandatory headscarves, the Iranian populace is rejecting the Islamic Republic from the ground up. They are proving, with every act of resistance, that Islam is a garment forced upon them at sword-point, not a heritage chosen by their hearts.
When we strip away the dark theology imposed upon the nation, what remains is the immortal spirit of Persia. This is the land that gave the world the Cyrus Cylinder-widely celebrated as the world’s first declaration of human rights. It is the birthplace of astronomical innovation, breathtaking architecture, poetry that speaks of universal human love, and an administrative genius that united millions under a banner of cultural and religious tolerance.
To ask an Iranian to tie their national identity to the clerics ruling Tehran is a profound historical insult. It is asking a proud lion to celebrate the cage it was born in. The current regime relies on terror, censorship, and ideological indoctrination precisely because it knows that the moment freedom returns, the entire Islamic superstructure will collapse like a house of cards.
Look at the West today. Decades of institutional surrender have left American and European societies fractured, defensive, and culturally confused. Leaders preach tolerance while eroding the foundational pillars of free speech and individual liberty. Having spent four decades watching the systematic degradation of Western political courage, it becomes painfully clear: America does not want to be saved. It is sleepwalking into its own cultural dissolution, trading its heritage for the hollow applause of globalist appeasers.
Meanwhile, Iranians are paying in blood to undo the damage of religious totalitarianism. They are the only people on earth who have lived under a pure, unadulterated Islamic theocracy for decades-and because of that, they are the only people who truly see it for what it is. They have lived through the nightmare, tasted the poison, and rejected the cure-less disease.
History moves in cycles. Empires rise, fall, and occasionally rise again from the ashes of their own destruction. The day is coming when the dark cloud hanging over Tehran will lift, swept away by an unstoppable wave of secular nationalism, cultural renaissance, and historical reclamation.
When that day arrives, the dynamic will flip entirely. A free, secularized Persia-liberated from the shackles of religious fanaticism-will emerge as the most advanced, enlightened, and culturally vibrant nation in the region. Disillusioned citizens from the West, fleeing societies crushed by their own moral cowardice and cultural surrender, will look eastward.
They will look to the land that dared to stare down theocratic tyranny and win. Welcome to Persia.

Tucker Carlson and J.D. Hall are lying about Islam. The persecution of Christian by Muslims is well documented!-Posted on The Washington times-By Everett Piper-On August 9, 2026:

In a recent episode of his podcast, titled “Origins of Christian Zionism, How It Corrupted American Christianity and Why It’s Finally Collapsing,” Tucker Carlson featured J.D. Hall as his guest and expert. In fact, Mr. Carlson introduced Mr. Hall by describing him as “a leading voice on issues of faith, culture, and free speech [as well as someone] known for his unapologetic defense of biblical orthodoxy and criticism of institutional corruption within the church.”
Aside from Mr. Carlson’s effusive praise of Mr. Hall as the consummate “theologian,” what more should we know of him? Who exactly is he?
Well, in short, Mr. Hall is a defrocked Baptist minister who has been accused of drug addiction, domestic violence, assault with a weapon, and embezzlement of church funds. In addition to all this, Mr. Hall has been cited for false claims in his writing and speaking, and he holds no terminal degrees, let alone in theology.
So, why in the world would Mr. Carlson feature such an academically unqualified and morally disreputable man on his show?
The answer seems quite simple. Mr. Carlson clearly wanted to continue grinding his ax against the Jews and pro-Israel Christians while at the same time elevating Islam as being better than both.
Here’s the proof.
While peddling his worn-out and biblically discredited arguments for “replacement theology,” J.D. Hall dove-tailed into a peculiar diatribe of praising Muslims for being “very kind” to Christianity.
Very kind to Christians? What in the world is Mr. Hall talking about?
Anyone with a fifth-grade education should know that Islam’s conquest of Christendom was anything but “kind” and that arguing otherwise is just astoundingly dumb. Here are just a few examples to prove the point.
First, Mr. Hall specifically claims that Islam has never imposed a tax on churches. This is not true. Surah 9:29 in the Qur’an specifically mandates that a poll tax called the “jizya” be imposed on all Christians living in a Muslim country. During the Ottoman Empire, for example, all non-Muslims across Southern Europe, Asia Minor, and the Middle East were required to pay this tax while standing before a seated overlord with their heads bowed. This was a sign of submission and humiliation.
In addition, a tax, called the kharaj, was imposed on all private property held by Christians. This was a burden often so overwhelming that it led to foreclosure, with the Christian’s property being confiscated and redistributed to Muslims as a result. Mr. Hall’s claim of no taxes on “the Church” is so bewildering that one must wonder if he is a paid apologist for the Muslim faith.
Second, there is the doctrine of “dhimmitude,” which declares all Christians are legally and socially inferior to all Muslims. In brief, dhimmitude lays out strict conditions whereby followers of Christ are only permitted to live in a Muslim country if they submit to a list of humiliating conditions, such as being forbidden from repairing their churches, ringing church bells, displaying crosses, and being required to wear distinctive clothing to signify their disparaged status. This, apparently, is the kind of Muslim behavior that J.D. Hall and Tucker Carlson want you to believe is “very kind.”
Third, there is the issue of legal inequality of all non-Muslims who live in Muslim countries. Sharia law, for example, makes the testimony of a Christian against a Muslim inadmissible in an Islamic court. Therefore, a Muslim committing a crime against a Christian is rarely, if ever, subject to legal penalty, while a Christian accused of a crime against a Muslim often faces flogging, immediate imprisonment, and even death. How “kind” do Mr. Hall and Mr. Carlson think this is?
Last, but certainly not least, is the century-and-a-half-old genocide and enslavement of Christians across the civilized world. The record of the Ottoman Empire alone shows that Muslims, in addition to butchering millions of Christians by the sword, conscripted untold numbers of Christian boys by removing them from their families and forcibly converting them to Islam. These children were then brainwashed to become “Janissaries” (elite soldiers), or they were assigned as “administrators” of the state. In fact, there were so many of these incidents in the Slavic states alone that it is from this horror show we now derive the word “slave.”
The persecution of Christians by Muslims is well documented. The Hamidian massacres, the Adana massacre, and ultimately the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek genocides resulted in the deaths of tens of millions of followers of Christ. The near-total eradication of the ancient Christian populations from the “cradle of Christianity” speaks for itself.
Mr. Hall’s claim of Muslim benevolence toward Christians is nonsense, and Mr. Carlson’s platforming of such abhorrent views serves only to betray his antipathy for biblical Christians who, even as we speak, are being butchered at the hands of, you guessed it, Muslims in Nigeria and elsewhere around the world.
Claiming that Muslims have been “very kind” to Christians is nothing but a shameful lie.
