 Economic Reality vs. Obama's Economic  Fantasy   With the first month of the year 2016 behind us, expectations of economic growth remain one of the top concerns for voters in this year's election cycle. Most presidential candidates have laid out their proposals for addressing the nation's economic woes. Granted, the president of the United States doesn't run the economy, but the ability to influence economic policy is a key characteristic of the presidency, and more often than not, a president's success or failure is attributed to his ability to lead the nation in economic growth.
          Economic growth has been scarce during the last seven years. Barack nObama may boast otherwise, but claims that aren't backed up by evidence are completely meaningless. For starters, the advance report for U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) — the value of everything a nation produces — shows that the economy expanded at a paltry 0.7% for the last quarter (Q4) of 2015. That is a significant drop from the 2% growth in the fall and 3.9% last spring.
          Overall, the U.S. economy grew only 2.4% for 2015, which matches economic growth from 2014. Many factors contribute to the sluggish growth. In Q4 for instance, consumers spent less, mainly on higher ticket items such as cars; exports fell 2.5%; and businesses spent less on new equipment.
          Yet some economists contend that the economy is healthy and well on its way to fully recovering. Consumers actually spent more money in 2015 than in the previous decade, but this is likely attributed to the decline in oil prices and lower energy costs due to more favorable weather conditions overall.
          However, the overall picture of the economy is abysmal when compared with economic growth in the decades following World War II. According to James Pethokoukis of the American Enterprise Institute, we have essentially suffered "a lost decade" — at least by American standards. From WWII until 2005, the U.S. economy grew at an average rate of 3.5%. That was the norm, but not in nObama's America.  -The Patriot Post

 Bernie Sanders Represents New Dem Party 
For liberals across the nation, the rest of the primary race will be tainted with the question: Was it Bernie Sanders who actually won the Iowa Democrat Caucus? Early Tuesday morning, the Iowa Democrat Party declared Hilly Clinton the winner by the thinnest of margins. Despite calls from the Sanders campaign to recount, the party's chair said the results are final. But there's plenty to question. At least six precincts reportedly chose their candidate through coin flips, but an accurate number is unknown. Furthermore, Democrat caucus attendees reported ill-trained caucus chairmen, long lines and chaos. And due to the Democrat's method of simply counting people standing in groups, the official tally cannot be recounted.
          One stark fact has emerged from Monday night's chaos: The socialist Sanders, a politician relatively unknown on the national stage a year ago, has become the philosophical leader of the Democrat Party. As columnist David Harsanyi wrote, "a socialist nearly won Iowa" — and that's a big deal. The wild-haired Vermonter captured the imagination and votes of Millennials, as 84% of Iowans under 30 "felt the Bern." As the older Hilly supporters step out of the political process, the Democrat Party will embrace full-on socialism.
          Columnist Peggy Noonan hypothesized this is because of Millennials' experience with the U.S. economy. "If you are 20 or 30 you probably see capitalism in terms of two dramatic themes," Noonan wrote. "The first was the crash of '08, in which heedless, irresponsible operators in business and government kited the system and scrammed. The second is income inequality. Why are some people richer than the richest kings and so many poor as serfs? Is that what capitalism gives you? Then maybe we should rethink this!"
          Unless the message of Liberty is communicated in a persuasive manner, Millennials appear poised to repeat the mistakes of the last century.  $19 Trillion and Counting 
When Barack nObama took office, the national debt stood at about $10.6 trillion. He called the spendthrift Bush administration "unpatriotic" for running up the tab. But nObama's on pace to nearly double the debt during his tenure in office. "On Monday the U.S. national debt hit a new record: $19,012,827,698,418,"reports The Daily Signal. "This is the first time the national debt has ever exceeded $19 trillion. That's more than $58,000 for each person that lives in the U.S. today (including children)." Major entitlements like Medicare and nObamaCare are going to put that increase ever more on autopilot.
          nObama and the Democrats in particular, with some aiding and abetting from Republicans, used the 2008 fiscal crisis to expand not the economy but government. Last year, Congress effectively suspended the debt ceiling — not that it was doing much good. Presidents and Congresses of both parties happily spend whatever they want when in power, raising the debt ceiling whenever they reach it based on phony fears of default. And the reason is simple: Most Americans don't actually want smaller government if it means cutting their own favorite spending. Politicians in Washington didn't sell out the American people. They heard exactly what the people were saying. Until and unless that really changes, U.S. debt will continue to grow at a tremendous rate. -The Patriot Post

Our nation's sovereignty depends on control of both immigration and trade, and that's why Senator Sessions urges voters to choose a candidate who promises to kill the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal with nearly a dozen Asian nations. A new study by economists at Tufts University predicts that U.S. ratification of the TPP would shrink our GDP by $100 billion, leading to a loss of 448,000 American jobs.

"This election will be the last chance for Americans to get control of their government," said Sessions, after 30 years of promises to end illegal immigration. "I think this election is the big one.

The importance of Sessions' statements on key issues in the presidential race -- especially immigration and TPP -- should not be underestimated. Sessions warned that, if the next president approves the TPP, it would put our trade with Asia under a powerful international commission on which the United States would have just one vote.

Our immigration policy has been anti-American, decade after decade, and the voters need to know that 2016 might be our last chance to elect a president who can reduce this tide of illegals crossing our borders. The interests of working Americans, their jobs, their wages, their hospitals, their schools, and the public safety, must "be put first," Sessions urged.

"We need a president with the credibility to tell the world that the time of illegality is over. Do not come to this country unlawfully," he said.

It's true folks. Patriot sister Sharron “Braveheart” Angle has taken on battling voter fraud; sounding the alarm that it is running rampant in America. What good is winning the hearts and minds of voters if we allow Democrats to steal elections?

As an American who happens to be black, I am highly insulted. In essence, Democrats are saying it is too challenging for us poor inferior simpleminded blacks to find our way to the DMV or other places to acquire a photo ID. It frustrates me that fellow black Americans remain blind to the truth that Democrats consistently talk down to them. Presented as compassion and fairness, Democrats always seek to lower expectations and standards for blacks; inferring that we are inferior. But, I digress.

Clinton’s Technological Ignorance

The email, which originated from State Department official Lewis Lukens, appeared to be in response to Clinton’s chief of staff, Cheryl Mills... Mills had earlier worried that Clinton’s inability to use anything other than her Blackberry might be a “problem.” In the email, though, Lukens seems unconcerned. He wrote that it “would not take much training to get her up to speed.” Of course, as The Hill points out, there’s no evidence that Clinton ever did figure out how to use her computer to “do email.” She has said that she never had a computer in her State Department office, apparently content to use her mobile devices as her sole method of electronic communication. Now, the Clinton staff will probably use this story as a way of reinforcing their claim that the former secretary rarely used email at all. Or they will use it as a way of showing Clinton as being technologically incompetent, as though that’s an excuse for her wanton disregard for informational security. It’s a little like her “wipe the server” comment a few months ago, where no one could quite figure out whether or not she was joking. The Intercept reported that the secret program was called "Anarchist." It was carried out by Britain's Government Communications Headquarters, or GCHQ, and the National Security Agency from a mountaintop Royal Air Force base in Cyprus, according to report.

"GCHQ files provided by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden include a series of 'Anarchist snapshots' - thumbnail images from videos recorded by drone cameras," The Intercept reported. "The files also show location data mapping the flight paths of the aircraft. In essence, U.S. and British agencies stole a bird's-eye view from the drones."

An Israeli official downplayed the significance of the report on Friday, telling the Israeli news service Haaretz the revelations weren't "very dramatic." Israeli military operations were not harmed in the process, the source told Haaretz, adding that "it goes without saying that foreign intelligence elements in the Middle East detect our operations, just like we detect the operations of other states in the region."

Officials at the NSA couldn't immediately be reached for comment, and have historically declined to comment on classified programs.

Anarchist was first started in 1998, according to The Intercept. It occasionally hacked into the feeds of drones operated by Syria and Hezbollah, but the bulk of the effort was focused on Israel, which has long had a complicated relationship with the United States when it comes to spying and intelligence collection. A summary of the CIA's budget, also released by Snowden, notes that Israel is a "priority" target for U.S. counterintelligence operations. Although allies, the United States and Israel have a history of spying on one another.

Photographs from the program appear to show Israeli drones equipped with missiles. Israel has long declined to discuss the arming of any of its unmanned aircraft, saying they are used for surveillance and to mark targets so that fighter jets and others manned aircraft can carry out airstrikes.

A 2008 British military document quoted by The Intercept suggested the Anarchist program was "indispensable" for maintaining an understanding of Israeli military operations and gaining insight into possible future developments in the region.

"In times of crisis," it said, "this access is critical and one of the only avenues to provide up to the minute information and support to U.S. and Allied operations in the area."

Military technology experts do not consider hacking into a video feed from a manned jet or drone to be difficult. In 2009, for example, U.S. defense officials acknowledged in media reports that Iranian-backed militants in Iraq had used off-the-shelf software costing about $26 to hack the video feeds of Predator drones.

"How stupid are the people of Iowa?" Donald slump-Trump asked at a rally in November, though for all we know he's asking that same question after his second-place finish in Monday's Iowa caucus.           Another key story is how wrong the polls were. Cruz won with 28%, slump-Trump got 24% and Rubio finished with 23%. The Real Clear Politics average: slump-Trump (28%), Cruz (24%) and Rubio (17%). Oops. Once again, the only poll that matters is the one on Election Day.
          One factor in slump-Trump's loss might have been his increasingly  vitriolic attacks on Cruz, accusing the Texas senator of lying (by using slump-Trump's own words, by the way) and insisting that everybody hates Cruz. Evangelicals also proved decisive for Cruz and perhaps grew increasingly wary of slump-Trump.
           Some final notes on the GOP side: Mike Huckabee, who won Iowa in 2008, ended his campaign Mondaynight. Rick Santorum, the 2012 Iowa winner, can't be far behind. And what did $155 million in campaign cash buy Jeb Bush? A sixth place finish with less than 3% of the vote.
          Now for the Democrats. Hilly Clinton managed to pull near-defeat from the jaws of victory, and a narrow loss for Bernie Sanders is still a "win" for him. As we go to press, Clinton leads by less than a percentage point. After her machine spent a year building a get-out-the-vote operation and a 12 point lead as recently as two weeks ago, she collapsed, surely leaving many to wonder if this isn't a repeat of 2008. Her bitter tone in her speech clearly reflected her wounded sense of entitlement.

 Islamophile nObama to Visit Radical Mosque 
Can somebody say "Blinding Islamophilia"? On Wednesday, Barack nObama is scheduled to visit a Baltimore mosque to show his support for the Islamic community. A White House staffer emailed The Washington Post saying nObama is going "to celebrate the contributions Muslim Americans make to our nation and reaffirm the importance of religious freedom to our way of life. ... As the President has said, Muslim Americans are our friends, and neighbors; our co-workers, and sports heroes — and our men and women in uniform defending our country." The Muslim Public Affairs Council told the Post that it helped the White House to pick which mosque to visit, and that the Islamic Society of Baltimore was an "average Joe mosque."
          But the mosque isn't exactly filled with the "moderate Muslims" nObama and the rest of the Left like to say make up the majority of adherents to the Religion of Peace™ in the United States. As Investor's Business Daily reports, the mosque is affiliated with the Islamic Society of North America, a group the Justice Department named in 2007 as an unindicted coconspirator for giving $12 million to Hamas. Furthermore, the mosque's former imam of 15 years, Mohamad Adam el-Sheikh, left to replace Anwar Awlaki — the al-Qaida leader who was influential for the Fort Hood jihadi, and later killed by an nObama drone strike — at a Virginia mosque where some of the 9/11 hijackers attended. El-Sheikh also founded a Muslim organization that U.S. prosecutors say is the U.S. franchise of the Muslim Brotherhood.  Electric Vehicle Expectations Short Circuit 
With the per-barrel cost of crude oil hovering below $35 and showing no signs of spiking, gasoline prices continue to drop. Today, the national average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel is a remarkably low $1.79. The steady decline throughout 2015 no doubt propelled the auto market on its way to setting a new benchmark. Last month, the Associated Press reported that "U.S. auto sales hit a record high of 17.47 million in 2015, topping the old record of 17.35 million set in 2000." The report added, "Analysts expect sales could go even higher this year as unemployment continues to decline and more young buyers enter the market."
          However, the outlook for the electric vehicle market is far less sublime. Recall this prediction from Barack nObama's 2011 State of the Union address: "With more research and incentives, we can break our dependence on oil with biofuels, and become the first country to have a million electric vehicles on the road by 2015." But with 2015 in the history books, the report card is rustier than a decades-old junk car. According to statistics provided by hybridcars.com, a total of 411,120 plug-in electrified vehicles (PEV) have been purchased in the United States since 2008. nObama's prediction would be right if he was talking globally — about 1.2 million PEVs have been sold worldwide — but he wasn't, which means he only reached about 41% of his goal. In other words, good enough to earn an "F." But who said anything about graded tests? This is government, after all.
          The ironic thing is that both cheap gasoline and the struggling electric vehicle market are the result of failed policies. Instead of depending less on gasoline-powered vehicles, millions of Americans are buying them in droves despite nObama taking undeserved credit. And hybridcars.com notes, "Last year the U.S. purchased 2.8 percent fewer PEVs than it did in 2014." No wonder Tesla CEO Elon Musk says "the industry as a whole, I think, will definitely suffer from lower oil prices." The trends are completely opposite what nObama said they would be. The federal workforce, already shaken by a massive cybertheft of personal data, now confronts another reality - ISIS has some of that same information.

Ardit Ferizi, 20, from Kosovo, was in federal court last week on charges he provided the brutal terrorist organization names, email addresses, passwords and locations of federal employees and military members.

It's worth noting up front the number of people whose information was stolen for ISIS is small -- 1,351, compared to the 21.5 million people whose background security clearance data was poached in the cybertheft announced last year.

Also, there is no reported harm -- physical, financial or otherwise -- to the cyber victims from ISIS. The FBI's criminal complaint against Ferizi, however, paints a frightening picture of what the terrorist group, aka ISIL, planned for that information. More broadly, this case, like the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge occupation, is another indication of the particular threat federal government personnel and workplaces face from extremists, foreign and domestic.

"Specifically, the PII (personally identifiable information), stolen by Ferizi was knowingly provided to ISIL to be used by ISIL members and supporters to conduct terrorist attacks against the US government employees whose names and locations were published," according to the document filed in federal district court in Alexandria by FBI Special Agent Kevin M. It's one thing if a cyber identity thief goes on a Best Buy shopping spree at your expense. It's quite another if your personal information is obtained by those who practice mass murder.

This has to raise concern for public servants who must trust their employer to safeguard their information, despite serious indications that Uncle Sam, as well as many in the private sector, really can't be trusted in that department. No one is safe. In October, a teenager claimed responsibility for hacking the private AOL email account of CIA Director John Brennan. The New York Post said the account held his security clearance information, including family Social Security numbers.

Last month, the White House outlined the measures the nObama administration is taking to strengthen cyber protections, including stronger authentication for computer systems, increasing scans for compromise and tightening practices for privileged users. Also, OPM has created the position of senior cyber adviser to help cut the risk of future intrusions. In October, the White House released its plan to modernize federal cybersecurity.

The complaint by Gallagher, formerly an independent contractor for two intelligence agencies, says Ferizi stole the information from the computer server that hosts the website of an unnamed business, referred to as "Victim Company." Little was revealed about the firm, except it is a retailer "that sells goods via the Internet to customers in multiple states." The server is located in Phoenix, but Gallagher noted that some theft victims live in the Eastern District of Virginia, which includes an area from the District's suburbs to Richmond and the Hampton Roads region. This part of the state probably was cited because it's the jurisdiction of the district court.

Ferizi allegedly stole personal information belonging not to just federal employees and service members, but to about 100,000 people in total, according to Gallagher. But the suspected intended use of the government personnel data is chilling.

Sometime between June 13 and August 11, 2015, Ferizi provided the personal information "to ISIL, intending it to be used by and for ISIL, and knowing that ISIL would use the PII against the US personnel, including to target the US personnel for attacks and violence," the complaint reads.

On August 11, Junaid Hussain, "a known ISIL member" who received stolen information from Ferizi, reposted an Islamic State Hacking Division tweet, according to the FBI. The tweet linked to a 30-page document with a warning to the "Crusaders:"

"We are in your emails and computer systems, watching and recording your every move, we have your names and addresses, we are in your emails and social media accounts, we are extracting confidential data and passing on your personal information to the soldiers of the khilafah, who soon with the permission of Allah will strike at your necks in your own lands!"

The following 27 pages in the document listed the names, email addresses and passwords, locations and phone numbers for U.S. personnel, according to the FBI. The complaint says the Islamic State Hacking Division, which the FBI says is linked to Ferizi, posted a "Kill List" in March that purportedly included the names and addresses of 100 U.S. service members.

Ferizi was arrested in Malaysia last year. Using the handle Th3Dir3ctorY, he led an Internet hacking group of ethnic Albanians called Kosova Hacker's Security (KHS), the FBI said.

KHS has hit government and private websites in Israel, Serbia, Greece and Ukraine. The group claims it has hacked more than 20,000 websites, including Interpol, the international police organization, IBM research and Microsoft's Hotmail, according to the complaint. KHS also claimed responsibility for having posted more than 7,000 Israeli credit card numbers in January 2012.

When five top administration officials announced new measures for background investigations several days ago, they said "we are committed to protecting the security of not only our systems and data, but also the Personally Identifiable Information of the people we entrust with protecting our national security."

Recapping the Hawkeye Cauci

Well…

We learned that a full 43% of Iowans identify themselves as socialists and of that 43%, they had to toss coins in order to determine which of their socialist candidates would be awarded which socialist delegates. Hillary (soon to be indicted) Clinton squeaked out an extra delegate over Bernie (I intend to hike your taxes beyond bejesus) Sanders.

And how did those coin tosses go? Well…Hillary won 6 in a row. The last time a Clinton got that lucky calling heads or tails…it was Bill…with Monika.

The ‘get off my lawn” voters can relax though as Sanders will win the communist vote by a wide margin next week in New Hamster…er…New Hampshire.

That is what we learned on the government needs to take care of us from cradle to grave side of the aisle, but what was it we learned on the RIGHT side of the American aisle?

After winning (y)our Republican Party’s 1st 2016 Primary Election in Iowa, Ted Cruz’s campaign moves into New Hampshire; the 2nd GOP Primary. 

New Hampshire, the Granite State, practices an honorable motto; ‘Live Free or Die’.  New Hampshire is one of the few states having no ‘state income tax’. 

Earlier, New Hampshire was a very Conservative voting state.  Ronald Reagan highly regarded New Hampshire.  In a 1980 GOP Presidential debate, Ronald Reagan refused allowing his Conservative voice and values to be silenced. 

On February 9, New Hampshire has the opportunity to vote for another Ronald Reagan ‘look-alike’ candidate; as Ted Cruz on fiscal, social, and National Security issues. 

Ted Cruz (R-TX) has an incredible ‘Bio’ duplicating Ronald Reagan’s consistent Conservative positions on fiscal, social, and National Security issues.

Operation Choke Point To Be Terminated by the House

H.R. 766, the Financial Institution Customer Protection Act of 2015, is expected to pass this week.  This is a bill to stop Operation Choke Point from discriminating against legal business owners in access to financial services.  Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) should be commended for his fight on this important legislation.

On May 29, 2014, the House Oversight Committee found last year the following in a report titled "DOJ's Operation Choke Point Secretly Pressured Banks to Cut Ties with Legal Business."

The Chairman of the Committee at the time was Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and he put together an excellent oversight report on the issue. 

  • Operation Choke Point was created by the Justice Department to “choke out” companies the Administration considers a “high risk” or otherwise objectionable, despite the fact that they are legal businesses.  The goal of the initiative is to deny these merchants access to the banking and payments networks that every business needs to survive.
  • Operation Choke Point has forced banks to terminate relationships with a wide variety of entirely lawful and legitimate merchants.  The initiative is predicated on the claim that providing normal banking services to certain merchants creates a “reputational risk” sufficient to trigger a federal investigation.  Acting in coordination with Operation Choke Point, bank regulators labeled a wide range of lawful merchants as “high-risk” – including coin dealers, firearms and ammunition sales, and short-term lending.  Operation Choke Point effectively transformed this guidance into an implicit threat of a federal investigation.
  • The Department is aware of these impacts, and has dismissed them.  Internal memoranda on Operation Choke Point acknowledge the program’s impact on legitimate merchants.  Senior officials informed Attorney General Eric Holder that as a consequence of Operation Choke Point, banks are exiting entire lines of business deemed “high risk” by the government.
  • The Department lacks adequate legal authority for the initiative.  Operation Choke Point is being executed through subpoenas issued under Section 951 of the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989.  The intent of Section 951 was to give the Department the tools to pursue civil penalties against entities that commit fraud against banks, not private companies doing legal business.  Documents produced to the Committee demonstrate the Department has radically and unjustifiably expanded its Section 951 authority.
  • Contrary to the Department’s public statements, Operation Choke Point was primarily focused on the payday lending industry.  Internal memoranda and communications demonstrate that Operation Choke Point was focused on short-term lending, and online lending in particular.  Senior officials expressed their belief that its elimination would be a “significant accomplishment” for consumers.

The Luetkemeyer bill is a great first step to stem the discrimination against legal businesses coming from the Obama Administration and his appointees at the Department of Justice.

 Picking to Pack the Supreme Court

          No, these aren't the latest Powerball numbers. They're the ages of the nine justices of the Supreme Court as of Jan. 20, 2017. Assuming all of them survive this year, it's likely that our next president could select three or more new members to the Court.
          Those three highest numbers actually belong to four members of the Supreme Court: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be 83, both Anthony Kennedy and Antonin Scalia turn 80 this year, and right behind them is Stephen Breyer. There are two each from the "conservative" and "liberal" wings of the Court — if Kennedy, who was appointed by Ronald Reagan after Senate Democrats shamefully "borked" Robert Bork, can be deemed something other than an unreliable and incoherent swing vote.
          And while it may seem logical for Ginsburg and Breyer to step down now while a Democrat president can still appoint their replacements, the feisty Ginsburg, who is battling pancreatic cancer, has consistently thumbed her nose at those fellow liberals who suggested it. Back then, Democrats still had the Senate; liberals now know that window has closed. Barack nObama can name anyone he wants, but it's not likely the Republican Senate would roll over without a fight for a SCOTUS nominee, even though they mostly have done just that for lower courts of late. Moreover, the Senate has an unwritten rule that they won't act on filling judicial vacancies during the waning months of a president's term.
          But the impact of a president can be felt long after he is gone based on the Supreme Court justices he selects. Both Scalia and Kennedy were Reagan appointees, and they are still on the court 27 years after he left office and almost 12 years after his death. Imagine, for example, what sort of impact a President Ted Cruz or President Marco Rubio could have with three or four Supreme Court appointees.  -The Patriot Post

 Some Clinton Email Too Classified to Release 
"I take classified information very seriously," Hilly Clinton insisted Sunday. "You know, you can't get classified information off the classified system in the State Department to put onto an unclassified system, no matter what that system is." She's not exactly correct, but it would take a herculean effort to strip classification markings — which is apparently what she did. "There is absolutely no evidence that I ever sent or received any email marked classified." Marked is the key word in Clinton parsing, and even former Clintonista George Stephanopoulos cornered her on that one: "You've said many times that the emails were not marked classified. The non-disclosure agreement you signed as secretary of state says that that's really not that relevant. It says classified information is marked or unmarked classified and that all of you are trained to treat all of that sensitively and should know the difference." Bingo, though her comments above were, astoundingly, in reply to his charge.
          It's certainly inconvenient that the State Department just announced it would not release 22 of her emails at all because revealing the information contained in them — even if redacted — would be too damaging to national security. The State Department has already released more than 1,300 of Clinton's classified emails, but these 22 are so serious as to merit holding them. (Those and 18 more that are direct communications with Barack nObama, who famously claimed he only found out about Clinton's email practices "through news reports.")
          Former federal prosecutor Andrew McCarthy sums up the problem: "The reasoning behind that conclusion is alarming. It is not just that the intelligence community (IC) understandably wishes to keep top secret national-defense information under wraps. Because of how recklessly Clinton and her top aides handled classified information, the IC must operate under the assumption that there are copies of these 22 emails floating around — whether in the possession of current or former government officials but unaccounted for or, worse, in the possession of, say, foreign governments that managed to hack into Clinton's unsecured private system. If the State Department were to release publicly even redacted copies of the emails, those who may have complete copies will be able to figure out the SAP information and use that knowledge both to compromise government sources and programs, and in analyzing other U.S. government information to which they've gained access. In other words, it is potentially catastrophic."
           Heck, even Bernie "Sick and Tired of Her Damn Emails" Sanders now thinks Clinton's malfeasance is "a very serious issue," though he swears, "I'm not going to politicize it."
          Finally, on a related note, Defense Secretary Ash Carter has decided not to pursue further punishment for Gen. David Petraeus over mishandling of classified information. Perhaps Carter is simply trying to make life easier for Clinton. -The Patriot Post

 Is Cruz a Liar? 
"Donald slump-Trump and Hilly Clinton and Bernie Sanders have the identical position on health care, which is they want to put the government in charge of you and your doctor," Ted Cruz said Sunday, attacking his rivals' health care plans. "Fact checking" site PolitiFact rated this statement false — because Clinton is the least leftist of the three, as she wants to preserve nObamaCare.
          The next day, slump-Trump called into ABC to defend his position. "Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar," Trump said. "I'm so against nObamaCare. I've been saying it for two years in my speeches. I'm going to repeal and replace nObamaCare."
          So the question is this: What will slump-Trump replace nObama's failed policy with? Currently, slump-Trump has not released a detailed health care plan. But if his past comments are any indicator, he will support some sort of single-payer health care system, similar to that of the socialist candidate. In 2000, while slump-Trump was pondering a third-party presidential run, he published a book, "The America We Deserve." In it, he wrote in praise of single-payer health care systems like the one in Canada: "We must have universal health care. I'm a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one."
          In this weekend's interview with ABC, slump-Trump insisted he did not support single-payer, but he was downright idealistic regarding providing health care — and he sounded eerily like the liberals that condemn conservatives for their focus on fiscal responsibility: "We'll work something out. That doesn't mean single-payer and maybe [Cruz has] got no heart. And if this means I lose an election, that's fine because frankly, we have to take care of the people in our country. We can't let them die on the sidewalks of New York, or the sidewalks of Iowa, or anywhere else."

In the short term her endorsement is said to help in Iowa. The clever thing she did in her remarks was to bring up Phyllis Schlafly, still a generally uncredited force in the making of modern conservatism and a brave woman. Mrs. Schlafly supports Mr. Trump because she believes the conservative thing to do about a rotting edifice—the Washington political establishment—is to tear it down. Mr. Trump will “defeat the king-makers,” Mrs. Schlafly told Breitbart.com. I’d note that for those who admire the conservative philosopher-statesman Edmund Burke, this sounds radically at odds with his frequent counsel of restraint and respect for history.

But Mrs. Schlafly’s view, too, has Burkean antecedents. When he thought something so corrupt as to be destructive of British character and national life, he went at it root and branch, as he did with the East India Company, which existed at the heart of and was a symbol of the British establishment. He challenged imperial practices, which is to say imperial corruptions. The point here, again, is that what is at issue in the party right now is not the end of conservatism but what a conservative approach would consist of at this point in history.

What Mr. Trump really needs is to be endorsed not by Mrs. Palin but by a political figure with stature, some sane member or members or administrations past who could lend him credibility. He needs a gravitas injection. Trumpism suffers among its critics for a reputation for intellectual carelessness—it’s all political joyriding. Mrs. Palin’s presence does nothing to knock that criticism down, and in fact underscores it.

To a larger point. Eventually in this campaign some candidate is going to have to address Donald Trump and his rise in a thoughtful, serious way. The obvious one is Jeb Bush, by virtue of his name and its association with the way the party used to be—the old, orderly conservatism. Why doesn’t he do it? He insults Mr. Trump—“a jerk,” “unhinged.” He told the Journal’s Mary Kissel this week: “Donald Trump’s not a serious candidate.” Mr. Bush uncorks witless, prefab soundbites: Mr. Trump is a “chaos candidate.” What does that even mean? Mr. Trump’s burly supporters wouldn’t mind a little disruption, an exploding of the elites—that is, chaos.

Why not make a serious argument? Jeb especially has little to lose—Mr. Trump’s people will never like him—and, potentially, much to gain in terms of his own standing.

Why is it important that a president have previous governmental experience? Here I will add that I have seen longtime officeholders start out with fire and idealism, only in time to learn too well what isn’t possible. “We can’t get that through.” “We lost on that one last time.” They quietly give up; their sense of reality becomes a lethargic pessimism. Mr. Trump, new to political office, would not know what’s impossible. Leaders like that, if they also have talent, wisdom, popularity and organization, can occasionally make the impossible happen. Is it worth the chance?

Most important, did Mr. Trump come from nowhere? Did the GOP establishment make any mistakes the past 15 years? If so, how can the damage be repaired? Was the Republican elite, like the Democratic one, essentially uninterested in the eroding power and position of the American working class? Were GOP leaders insensitive, cynical and selfish regarding public disapproval of and anxieties about illegal immigration?

What do you see when you look at Trumpism? Aside from what Robert Oppenheimer saw when the bomb exploded: “I am become death, destroyer of worlds.” Is Trumpism in part a hopeful tendency, or just a throwing in of the towel?

Imagine such a speech—a serious, respectful, historically grounded one.

And why not? History is serious. It isn’t just the beeps and bops of daily events in a political year, it has to do with major outcomes in the life of a people. This moment is part of the political history of the United States.

Trump threatens "North American Union" scheme.

As Rush Limbaugh notes, Donald Trump has indeed made illegal immigration into an issue of national debate. The liberal media and now, apparently, the chairman of the Republican Party, have objected to Trump's comments about criminal aliens. In fact, what Trump has done is jeopardize a plan that goes way beyond mere amnesty for illegals, and which has been on the drawing board for more than a decade. Simply put, the plan is to submerge the sovereignty of the United States of America and politically integrate the U.S., Canada, and Mexico into a trilateral entity called the North American Union.

The Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) calls it a "North American Community," as if the corrupt culture and government of Mexico can be made to mesh with democratic systems in the U.S. and Canada. It means open borders and more criminal aliens in the U.S.

CFR: 2016 Candidates Must Build an ‘Integrated’ North America

Former General David Petraeus and former World Bank head Robert Zoellick are leading the Council on Foreign Relation’s latest push for an “integrated” North America.

Today, these men are leaders of predatory global finance: Petraeus now heads KKR Global, the leveraged buyout firm, while Zoellick is a senior advisor to Goldman Sachs International. Both men were also in attendance at the secretive 2014 Bilderberg conference.

Petraeus and Zoellick are the co-chairs of the CFR’s North America: Time for a New Focus report, a globalism blueprint they claim carries an “integration and sovereignty” approach that somehow meaningfully differs from the EU’s “shared sovereignty”.

According to Robert Zoellick, North America can become a “new growth market” under integration, rife with exploitable opportunities through a “doubling down” of NAFTA-style policies that they expect 2016 presidential candidates to pursue.

Zoellick explicitly stated, “I hope that this report will provide an agenda for both [U.S. political] parties in the presidential elections in 2016.”

 Iowan Votes Matter! 
It's Iowa Caucus Day! Finally, after months of talk, donations, debates and ads, the corn meets the harvester when Iowans cast their votes — or in terms of the Democrat caucuses, stand by their candidates. Iowa delegates make up only 1% of the total available delegates nationwide, but because the Hawkeye State holds its caucus first, it's the state that often sets the tone for the rest of the election. In this most unconventional election cycle, there have been a few things that have remained constant. One of them is the effort on the campaign trail to appeal to Christians.
          Call them by whatever name of the era — the "Moral Majority," the "Religious Right" and now "evangelicals" — those who generally affiliate with the Republican Party due to non-negotiable issues of their faith comprise a large number of voters. That's especially true in early contest states like Iowa and South Carolina.
          In the 2012 Iowa Caucus, those who self-identified as "evangelical" or born-again Christians in an entrance poll by Edison Research numbered 57% of all participants. The value of this group of voters is undisputed; yet winning the hearts and minds of these voters seems to be awkward for many campaigns, which, alone, should convey a message.             Evoking surprise from some candidates and their Beltway consultants, these voters are driven by their faith in the civic arena to pursue obedience in Christ's command to be "the salt of the earth" and "the light to the world." These same values voters aren't looking for a preacher but are sure quick to spot the inconsistencies of pandering politicians who fall back on props and catch phrases.
          A few weeks back when Donald slump-Trump took the platform at Liberty University, the audience of the Christian school, founded by evangelical stalwart and pastor Jerry Falwell, caught the real-estate tycoon making reference to a Bible verse in a manner that exposed his unfamiliarity with Scripture. Instead of quoting "Second Corinthians," slump-Trump referenced "Two Corinthians."

The 2016 presidential race has turned into an epic contest between the ethno-nationalist populism of Donald Trump and traditional conservatism, though in two varieties: the scorched-earth fundamentalist version of Ted Cruz, and a reformist version represented by Marco Rubio and several so-called establishment candidates — and articulated most fully by non-candidate Paul Ryan and a cluster of highly productive thinkers and policy wonks dubbed “reformicons.”

Trump insists that he’s a conservative, but in his pronouncements and policies, conservatism seems more of a rental — a three-story penthouse rental with Central Park-view, to be sure — than an ideological home. Trump protests that Ronald Reagan, too, migrated from left to right. True, but Reagan’s transformation occurred in his 40s — not, as with Trump, in his 60s.

In radically different ways, Trump and Sanders are addressing the deep anxiety stemming from the secular stagnation in wages and living standards that has squeezed the middle and working classes for a generation. Sanders locates the villainy in a billionaire class that has rigged both the economic and political system. Trump blames foreigners, most prominently those cunning Mexicans, Chinese, Japanese and Saudis who’ve been taking merciless advantage of us, in concert with America’s own leaders who are, alternatively, stupid and incompetent or bought and corrupt.

Hence Trump’s most famous policy recommendations: anti-immigrant, including the forced deportation of 11 million people; anti-trade, with a 45 percent tariff on Chinese goods and a 35 percent tariff on U.S. manufacturing moved to Mexico; and anti-Muslim, most notoriously a complete ban on entry into the U.S. Temporarily only, we are assured, except that the ban applies “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on” — a standard so indeterminate as to be meaningless.

Trump has limited concern for the central tenet of American conservatism and most especially of the tea party movement — limited government. The most telling example is his wholehearted support for “eminent domain,” i.e. the forcible appropriation by government of private property. Trump called it “wonderful.”
.
Trump has not yet called Vladimir Putin wonderful but he has taken a shine to the swaggering mini-czar who seems to run his trains on time. When informed that Putin kills opponents and journalists, Trump’s initial reaction was, “Well, I think that our country does plenty of killing, also,” the kind of moronic what-about-the-Crusades moral equivalence that conservatives have railed against for decades. Although, to be fair, after some prompting, Trump did come out against the killing of journalists.

Cruz is often lumped with Trump in the “anti-establishment” camp. That suited Cruz tactically for a while, but it’s fairly meaningless, given that “establishment” can mean anything these days. And given the huge gulf between the political philosophies of the two men. Cruz is a genuine conservative — austere, indeed radical, so much so that he considers mainstream congressional conservatives apostates. And finds Trump not conservative at all, as he is now furiously, belatedly insisting.

My personal preference is for the third ideological alternative, the reform conservatism that locates the source of our problems not in heartless billionaires or crafty foreigners, but in our superannuated, increasingly sclerotic 20th-century welfare-state structures. Their desperate need for reform has been overshadowed by the new populism, but will make its appearance this year in Congress in Speaker Ryan’s promised agenda — boring stuff like welfare reform, health care reform, tax reform and institutional congressional reforms such as the return to “regular order.”

Paired with a President like Rubio or Chris Christie or Carly Fiorina, to go long-shot, such an agenda would give conservatism its best opportunity since Reagan to become the country’s governing philosophy.

Unless the GOP takes the populist leap. In which case, a conservative restoration will be a long time coming.

 Finally, a Debate Without Petty Insults 
For the first time this election cycle, last night featured a Republican debate  with only Republicans on stage. Yet it was the "elephant" not in the room that dominated pre- and post-debate coverage. As for those on stage, we have two primary observations.
          First, as Mark Alexander predicted yesterday, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz were baited into attacking each other, especially on immigration. That was Donald Trump's strategic play. By not being present, he pitted his chief rivals against each other without getting caught in the crossfire just ahead of the Iowa caucus. That said, Cruz began the night by humorously pretending to play the part of Trump: "I'm a maniac and everyone on this stage is stupid, fat and ugly. And Ben [Carson], you're a terrible surgeon. Now that we've gotten the Donald Trump portion out of the way..."
          In fact, many of the questions were negative attack bait, roughly following the formula: You or someone else said something awful or outrageous... explain why your remark wasn't terrible, or attack the other candidate. The questions were largely designed to generate fratricidal arguments between the Republican candidates rather than focus on how each Republican would approach policy matters different from Democrats.
          Second, the Google/YouTube/ advertising sponsorship, as with the Facebook sponsorship in the last debate was at best, grating. As they previously did with Facebook "mentions," the efforts to incorporate "search words" and videos into the debate — including one YouTube question from a Bernie Sanders supporter (seriously!) — was ridiculous and little more than cross-platform advertising.
          Finally, the quote of the night might just go to Rubio, because he managed to pack so much about himself and why he'd be a formidable general election candidate into one answer: "[L]et me be clear about one thing. There's only one savior and it's not me. It's Jesus Christ, who came down to Earth and died for our sins. ... As far as the polls are concerned, Iowa, on Monday night you're going to go to a caucus site and you'll be the first Americans that vote in this election. You will be the first Americans that get to answer a fundamental question: 'What comes next for this country after seven disastrous years of Barack nObama?' Let me tell you what the answer better not be: It better not be Bernie Sanders. Bernie Sanders is a socialist. I think Bernie Sanders is good candidate for president — of Sweden. We don't want to be Sweden. We want to be the United States of America. And Hilly Clinton — Hilly Clinton is disqualified from being the commander in chief of the United States. In fact, one of her first acts as president may very well be to pardon herself because Hilly Clinton stored classified information on her private server and Hilly Clinton lied to the families of those four brave Americans who lost their lives in Benghazi, and anyone who lies to the families of Americans who have died in the service of this country can never be commander in chief of the United States."  -The Patriot Post

 Trump Didn't Want to Be at His Own Veterans  Benefit   
As with his 9/11-card play in the last debate, Donald Trump's veteran-card play is nothing more than a crass political charade. While seven GOP candidates had a policy-focused debate Tuesday night, Trump eschewed questioning from Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly and instead held an event cross town that was supposedly to benefit veterans. But Trump admitted the event really wasn't for the men and women who risked their lives for the country. It was all about him. "I didn't want to be here, I have to be honest," Trump said. "I wanted to be about five minutes away. ... But you have to stick up for your rights. When you're treated badly, you have to stick up for your rights."
          Trump was betting that he was the only reason the large broadcast news organizations were getting good ratings during the televised debates. But viewer estimates and the number of people searching Google for live streams of the debate versus Trump's event show that the debate was still more popular than the frontrunner's stunt. As for the event, it was as phony as Hilly Clinton's email security. His staff quickly posted a webpage, "Donald Trump for Vets," asking visitors to "Honor their valor. Donate now to help our Veterans." But the proceeds go to Trump's personal foundation, which has given more than $100,000 to draft-dodging Bill Clinton and his wife — far more than to veterans' causes.
          Oh, and if Trump showed up for the debate, perhaps Kelly could have asked him why he wanted veterans, who are doing their best to make ends meet as street vendors, kicked off of 5th Avenue. Trump wrote a letter to his leftist friend, former mayor Michael Bloomberg, complaining of the vendors, "Whether they are veterans or not, they should not be allowed to sell on this most important and prestigious shopping street. The image of New York City will suffer." He concluded, "I hope you can stop this very deplorable situation before it is too late." The same could be said of his candidacy.  -The Patriot Post

On Wednesday Chaim Levinson reported in Haaretz that for the first time in nearly two years, last week the Civil Administration of Judea and Samaria approved new building plans for a small number of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.

Levinson also reported that last month Jerusalem’s municipal planning and building commission gave final approval to plans to build nearly 900 housing units in the southern neighborhood of Gilo. Initial approval was granted back in 2012.

But in the intervening three years, the commission refused to allow them to go forward.

From the report, we learn that the government’s critics in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria who claimed that it was barring Jewish building were right all along. Despite the government’s denials, the fact is that for at least the last year and a half, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers maintained an undeclared freeze on construction for Israeli Jews in Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

During this period, Jews have only been permitted to build in these areas either on the basis of plans that had received final approval before the unofficial freeze took effect, or in cases where refusal to approve building would have involved admitting that a freeze was in effect. So, for instance, in areas where the rights of Jews to their property in Judea and Samaria have been challenged before the Supreme Court by EU-financed Israeli NGOs like Yesh Din, the government has defended those rights and so given permission for Jews to exercise their property rights.

The government opted to enact this unofficial building freeze, and so trample the civil rights of hundreds of thousands of Israeli citizens, in the hopes of convincing the nObama administration to protect Israel from Palestinian efforts to pass anti-Israel resolutions at the UN Security Council.

It might have been possible to justify the government’s behavior – or at least to understand it – if it had brought about the hoped for benefits.
.
If President Barack nObama had responded to Netanyahu’s radical concession by burying the hatchet and supporting Israel at the UN and on the international stage more generally, then perhaps the move would have been worth it.
.
But that didn’t happen. Over the past 18 months, the administration – backed by much of the Israeli Left – has escalated its anti-Israel policies and rhetoric. Even as the government curtailed the property rights of Israeli Jews in the hopes of appeasing him, nObama along with Secretary of State John hanoi-Kerry has led the charge in wrongly blaming Israel for the absence of peace with the Palestinians.

nObama and hanoi-Kerry have engaged in acts of deliberate libel by falsely accusing Israel of institutional racism against the Palestinians in Judea and Samaria.

As for the UN, both nObama and hanoi-Kerry – along with their advisers – have repeatedly threatened to allow anti-Israel resolutions to be passed in the Security Council.
.
The message the administration is sending through its continued aggression is plain to see. It has no interest in being appeased by Israel, and as a result, no concessions Israel makes will satisfy it or diminish its desire to downgrade the US-Israel alliance and weaken Israel diplomatically.

nObama’s beef is not with building for Jews beyond the 1949 armistice lines. Attacking Jewish building is merely a means for attacking Israel.

In the absence of such building, nObama and his advisers have been quick to make up new excuses for condemning Israel.

The undeclared and unrewarded building freeze isn’t the only policy the government has implemented to the detriment of Israel’s national interest in the unfounded hope of satisfying hostile foreign governments.

There is also its policy in regard to Israeli-registered NGOs that operate as agents of foreign governments in their efforts to subvert the government and harm the state.
.
According to a report published earlier this month by NGO Monitor, between 2012 and 2014, foreign governments transferred a whopping NIS 169,728,500 to 27 organizations registered as Israeli nonprofits. Foreign government funding comprised 65 percent of overall funding for these highly political, anti-Israel groups.

Twenty of the 27 groups in question receive the majority of their funding from foreign governments either directly or through third party organizations. Since these groups are registered as nonprofits, the funds they receive from foreign governments are tax exempt. In other words, Israeli taxpayers are subsidizing agents of foreign governments.
.
These groups, which include the likes of B’Tselem, Breaking the Silence, Yesh Din, Machsom Watch, the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, and Adalah, work together and separately in a bid to make it impossible as a practical matter for Israel to defend itself against terrorist groups or to respect the civil rights of its Jewish citizens, including their rights to property and self-defense. Moreover, they work to criminalize Israel’s leaders and soldiers internationally while promoting BDS.

Given their activities and goals, it is self-evident that these groups are a threat to the national interests of Israel. They cause it great harm both domestically and internationally.
.
As the public’s awareness of the threat posed by these foreign government-funded groups has grown in recent years, Knesset members have repeatedly introduced legislation geared toward curbing their activities.
.
Not surprisingly, given the fact that foreign governments – principally from the EU and its member states – are funding and so directing the actions of these groups, each time the Knesset tried to rein them in, those efforts have been immediately and viciously attacked by the governments of Europe, the EU, the nObama administration, the groups themselves, the international media and the Israeli Left.

Each time, the attacks have been the same. The foreign governments and their allies in the media and the Israeli Left, including their employees, have insisted that any move by the Knesset to restrain, regulate or otherwise expose their hostile activities constitutes nothing less than a deadly assault on Israeli democracy.
.
The criticism is absurd on its face, and represents pure projection. After all, it is hard to imagine a more direct assault against a nation’s democratic system than foreign governmental funding of domestic groups whose goal is to delegitimize and vilify their government and country.
.
These ridiculous attacks on government attempts to regulate the actions of foreign-funded anti-Israel groups beg for an unapologetic counter assault from the government. Distressingly, rather than strike the necessarily blow, time after time the government has crumpled.

One after another, NGO bills have been abandoned or watered down to the point of fecklessness.
.
Today Israel is being subjected yet again to the coordinated assault of the phony “champions of democracy.” As in the past, the nObama administration has joined forces with the EU, the Israeli Left and the Western media to attack the government for its support for Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked’s NGO Transparency Bill.
.
Given the unhinged nature of the attacks, one could reasonably assume that this time, the government is serious. But alas, as in the past, one would be wrong.
.
There is nothing in Shaked’s bill that will do significant damage to either the Israeli groups or their foreign governmental funders. For instance, Shaked’s bill does not remove these groups’ nonprofit status. Under the Shaked bill, foreign government- funded groups that vilify the IDF and its soldiers like Breaking the Silence will continue to enjoy the same tax exemptions as real nonprofits like the IDF’s widows and orphans fund.

Shaked’s bill only treats as foreign agents organizations that receive the majority of their funding from foreign governments. But the distinction between Yesh Din, which receives 93% of its funding from foreign governments, and Machsom Watch of which Yesh Din is a spinoff, which receives 47% of its funding from foreign governments, is entirely arbitrary. Both groups are beholden to foreign governments. Both are foreign agents.

Like its decision to freeze Jewish building projects, the government’s decision to water down the NGO Transparency Bill was clearly motivated by its hope of winning points with hostile governments. It is hard not to sympathize with this hope. But the fact that it comes from an understandable impulse doesn’t make the government’s behavior rational. As the unhinged criticisms directed at the bill from the US and EU make clear, they are not impressed, indeed they couldn’t care less about the government’s attempt to mollify them by advancing a bill devoid of substance.

The lesson from these miserable experiences is clear enough. Since Israel is going to be attacked no matter what it does, we might as well do things that advance our interests.

Since we will be vilified for building “settlements” even when the government freezes construction, we might as well build settlements.
.
Since the price for expanding existing buildings is the same as the price for building new neighborhoods and communities, there is no reason to pay full price for a fraction of the benefit. Indeed, since the nObama administration and the EU plan to attack us no matter what we do, we might as well go ahead and apply Israeli law to the Jordan Valley and Gush Etzion.

Likewise, since the same forces will viciously condemn us for advancing legislation that will do nothing to curb their funding for Israeli agents or curtail the hostile actions of those agents, we might as well get viciously attacked for doing something to curb their funding and curtail their actions. Given the ferocity of the criticism Israel is enduring over the Shaked bill, it makes sense to redraft the bill and turn it into something useful.

 Green Beret Punished for Protecting Child 
In 2011, two Green Berets in a remote outpost in Afghanistan discovered that a commander in the Afghan Local Police (ALP) had kidnapped a young boy and raped him. When the rapist admitted what he did and laughed about it, Captain Dan Quinn picked up the man and slammed him into the ground. Sgt. First Class Charles Martland joined in, helping to drag the man outside the compound. The two told the rapist to never return. But the Army has policies to respect Afghan "culture," and beating a child rapist is evidently in violation of those rules.
          After Army Human Resources Command recommended Martland be removed from service, Rep. Duncan Hunter sent a letter to Sen. Pat Roberts asking him to assist in keeping Martland in the Army. "I am not offended by, nor do I take any issue with, Martland's confrontation of the child rapist," Hunter wrote. "Martland was part of a small team of Green Berets, entrusted to keep America safe in ways that often go unreported or unnoticed, whose mission was being put at risk due to the illegal action of a corrupt ALP commander. The Afghan justice system continually failed to uphold individual human rights, and we would expect any of our elite warriors to protect a child from a known and admitted rapist." 
          If nothing else is done, then Martland's military career will end March 1. Meanwhile, the nObama administration is content to let Army bureaucracy run its course, as nObama spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters last year that Afghanistan has its legal system to handle these sorts of cases.  Civil Disobedience Only Works for Liberals? 
A couple of stories this week are indicative of a society increasingly unmoored to common sense and common decency, much less Rule of Law.
          In Houston, the results of that city's investigation of a Planned Parenthood clinic's trafficking in baby parts has resulted in an indictment — of the whistleblowers. Californians David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt have been charged by a Harris County grand jury for tampering with a governmental record, a second-degree felony with a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Adding insult to injury, Daleiden, the leader of the videographers from the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) that published the exposé, was also charged with the same misdemeanor he had accused Planned Parenthood of committing — namely the purchase or sale of the organs of unborn babies.
          "As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us," said Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson, a registered Republican. "All the evidence uncovered in the course of this investigation was presented to the grand jury. I respect their decision on this difficult case."
          Their decision is a travesty. The series of videos published by CMP are a compendium of outrages. In one, the organization's Chief Medical Director, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, is shown casually discussing the various abortion techniques employed to preserve as much fetal tissue as possible. In another, Dr. Mary Gatter, president of the Planned Parenthood Medical Directors' Council, is shown discussing the "less crunchy" abortion techniques needed to procure "whole specimens," and haggling over fetal tissue sales prices because she wants "a Lamborghini." In still another, Melissa Farrell, Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, promotes that branch's track record of fetal tissue sales, and its ability to "get the best specimens."
          Planned Parenthood claimed the videos were "heavily edited," but that is simply a lie. Nothing was cut or juxtaposed, and the videos are available in full at the CMP website.   -The Patriot Post

Market estimates consider that the sharp market interest rate rises in recent months, especially in high-yield corporate borrowing costs, constitutes the equivalent of between three and four increases in the Fed’s federal funds rate. The result of a BBA is to legalize spending which is now unconstitutional – it changes the constitutional standard for spending from whether the object is on the list of enumerated powers to a limit on the total amount of spending.

• To add insult to injury, the limits on spending are fictitious because they can be waived whenever Congress votes to waive them.

And because a BBA would permit Congress to lawfully spend money on whatever is put in the budget, the powers of the federal government would be lawfully increased to include whatever THEY decide to put in the budget.

So a BBA would fundamentally transform our Constitution fromone of enumerated powers only to one of general and unlimited powers – because the federal government would then be authorized by the Constitution to exercise power over ANY object they decide to put into the budget.
