Democrats Rush To Criminalize Gun Ownership

by conservativehq.com:  Our friends at Gun Owners of America recently sent out an alert about HR 8, the House Democrats’ first gun bill of the 116th Congress, saying, “Nancy Pulosi and her anti-gun team are either profoundly stupid or genuinely evil,”... and after reading the anti-Second Amendment legislation Democrats are rushing through Congress, we’re going with genuinely evil. As GOA’s Eric Pratt explained, with HR 8, Pulosi and her gun-hating cronies have crafted a “Universal Background Check” bill with dozens of trap doors that could, if enforced to the letter, put millions of gun owners in prison. Specifically, the bill outlaws the “transfer” of a firearm without a Brady Check. While this includes private sales, it by no means is limited to that. The term “transfer” is nowhere defined says Pratt, but it’s clear from the bill that handing your gun to a neighbor for as little as one second is a “transfer” unless you’re covered by one of the bill’s so-called exceptions. So, if you show off your new gun to your neighbor in your living room, and hand it to him to look at, you’re a criminal, and can go to federal prison for up to a year. But as onerous as this provision is, the worst part consists of the Universal Gun Registry the bill would create. Under HR 8, says Pratt, since every gun transfer will go through a dealer, every gun owner will have a 4473. We know that the ATF, in connection with annual inspections conducted under federal law, is increasingly copying these forms to its database in a centrally accessible format. See examples here...

Trump Is On Solid Legal Ground In Declaring
A Border Emergency To Build A Wall

{thefederalist.com} ~ A review of existing federal laws makes clear that President Donald Trump has clear statutory authority to build a border wall pursuant to a declaration of a national emergency... Arguments to the contrary either mischaracterize or completely ignore existing federal emergency declarations and appropriations laws that delegate to the president temporary and limited authority to reprogram already appropriated funding toward the creation of a border wall between the United States and Mexico. To analyze the legal basis for Trump’s declaration of a national emergency and subsequent transfer of existing appropriations to respond to the declared emergency, we must begin and end with the actual text of underlying federal laws governing presidential declarations and appropriations of federal funding. The most important text regarding the latter is Section 9 of Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution: “No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law.” This law is what grants Congress the so-called “power of the purse” and effectively makes Congress the most powerful branch of the federal government. Not one dime may be spent by the federal government in the absence of an act of Congress. As a result, no mere declaration of emergency by the president is sufficient to allow the expenditure of funding that Congress has not already appropriated. Much news coverage of Trump’s national emergency declaration has suggested that he is unilaterally spending money that has not been appropriated to fund construction of a wall or fence, or security barrier, or whatever you want to call it on the U.S. southern border, but that is simply not the case. In fact, the formal declaration of a national emergency on the U.S.-Mexico border cites two specific federal statutes that provide him the legal basis to use emergency funds to secure the border: one authorizing the president to declare national emergencies (50 U.S.C 1601 et. seq.) and the other authorizing the president to reprogram existing federal appropriations in response to an emergency declaration (10 U.S.C. 2808)...  http://thefederalist.com/2019/02/19/trump-solid-legal-ground-declaring-border-emergency-build-wall/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=7d4c2ddfbc-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-7d4c2ddfbc-83771801

{dailycaller.com} ~ Republicans on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence say they are not satisfied that dossier author Christopher Steele has provided only written responses to the committee... “As we’ve  made clear to Mr. Steele and his attorney, there is no substitute for a face-to-face interview when it comes to answering some of the Committee’s most pressing questions,” a Republicans spokesperson for the committee told ABC News. “We wouldn’t be satisfied with written responses from any other key witness, and we are not here, either.” North Carolina GOP Sen. Richard Burr, the chairman of the Senate panel, and other committee members have “sought an in-person interview with Mr. Steele for 25 months,” the spokesperson said. A rift between the committee and Steele became apparent earlier in February when Burr said in an interview that “multiple attempts” have been made to interview the former British spy in person as part of an investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian government...
Federal Report Finds U.S. Department

{thefederalist.com} ~ A new report raises questions about how the U.S. Department of Education monitors the performance of its wide-ranging elementary and secondary education programs... The department currently receives $38 billion for its major K-12 education programs. Yet the assessment says those programs are plagued by “complex and persistent” challenges, many of which have been identified previously, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), the official “congressional watchdog” charged with ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent efficiently. Specifically, the GAO identified four key shortcomings in the department: oversight and monitoring, data quality, capacity, and evaluation methodologies. As the GAO makes clear, it is not the only oversight agency raising concerns about the department’s program management. What’s more, such problems have plagued our federal education departments since the first one took form back in 1867. The GAO found that various education department offices failed to document consistently required monitoring activities in their official grant files. For example, its review of 75 grants totaling $21 million in discretionary funding revealed that “almost all” of them “were missing key monitoring documents, including grantee performance reports, which describe the results grantees achieve with grant funds,” according to the GAO...  http://thefederalist.com/2019/02/19/federal-report-finds-u-s-department-education-massive-failure/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=7d4c2ddfbc-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-7d4c2ddfbc-83771801

{dailycaller.com} ~ Democrats’ Green New Deal legislation envisions a United States that eliminates all greenhouse gas emissions through a massive expansion of government control... which includes a green grid, electrified mass transit and high-speed rail. Cities and states actually trying to implement these policies, however, are often finding it difficult to overcome political and economic realities. In the past year, for example, Washington state voters  rejected — for a second time — a proposal to tax carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon tax opponents successfully framed the proposal as an energy tax that would raise prices and do nothing for future global warming. The tax was backed by Democrats like Gov. Jay Inslee, who is also mulling a 2020 presidential run. Inslee, who styles himself as the Democratic “climate candidate,” has also failed to push major climate policies through the legislature and using his own executive authority...

by Nate Jackson:  Based on statements from Chicago police about evidence in the case, the supposed “hate crime” attack against actor Jussie Smollett was likely staged. The black and homosexual “Empire” actor claimed assailants in MAGA hats beat him, tied a noose around his neck, and doused him with bleach, allegedly while yelling, “This is MAGA country, nigger!” and calling him “Empire faggot!” But, as it turns out, it seems Smollett hired two Nigerians to play the part of Donald Trump-loving rednecks. Time to get someone from Central Casting on the line.

Through a statement from his attorneys, Smollett doubled down: “As a victim of a hate crime who has cooperated with the police investigation, Jussie Smollett is angered and devastated by recent reports that the perpetrators are individuals he is familiar with. He has now been further victimized by claims attributed to these alleged perpetrators that Jussie played a role in his own attack. Nothing is further from the truth and anyone claiming otherwise is lying.” He had previously complained that people wouldn’t doubt his story if he “had said it was a Muslim or a Mexican.”

His protests notwithstanding, one would think the Leftmedia might learn some skepticism in the wake of incidents like the Covington Catholic phony narrative. But no.

The New York Times, ABC News, MSNBC, PBS, Los Angeles Times, and others all “reported” on the attack as if it were verified fact with nothing more than Smollett’s claims to back it up. GQ  magazine even declared, “The racist, homophobic attack on Jussie Smollett is far-right America’s endgame.” So now all  conservatives are to blame.

It wasn’t just irresponsible news outlets with a “progressive” ax to grind, either. Multiple Democrat politicians — including members of the 2020 presidential field — unquestioningly took Smollett’s story as gospel truth. scumbag-Cory Booker insisted, “The vicious attack on Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching.” lowlife-Kamala Harris likewise chimed in, “This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate.” Nancy Pulosi lectured, “The racist, homophobic attack on [Jussie Smollett] is an affront to our humanity.” And loose lips-Joe Biden wasn’t to be left out: “What happened … to Jussie Smollett must never be tolerated in this country.”

A day later, scumbag-Booker decided, “I’m gonna withhold until all the information actually comes out from on-the-record sources.” Now he tells us.

Smollett’s desperate plea for attention fit neatly within the Left’s hate narrative about the Right. It confirmed preexisting bias, which stems from a history of misinformation from the media. Bottom line: There are hateful people of every color out there. But hate-crime hoaxes undermine real victims.  ~The Patriot Post

by Media Editors:  It’s about time to rein in civil asset forfeiture: “The Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled unanimously that states must adhere to the Constitution’s ban on excessive fines, a decision that will likely limit the ability of states to impose certain fees and seize property. In delivering the opinion of the court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said the Eighth Amendment guards against abuses of government’s punitive or criminal law-enforcement authority, and that it extends to fines.” (The Hill)

“Attorneys representing the Kentucky high school student involved in a confrontation that went viral on social media last month announced Tuesday that they were suing The Washington Post for $250 million in compensatory and punitive damages,” Fox News reports. The suit fairly argues that the outlet exploited “its vast financial resources to enter the bully pulpit by publishing a series of false and defamatory print and online articles … to smear a young boy who was in its view an acceptable casualty in their war against the president.”
.
Speaking of libel, “Conservative Justice Clarence Thomas on Tuesday urged the U.S. Supreme Court to reconsider its landmark 1964 ruling that made it harder for public figures to sue for defamation, a precedent that has served as powerful protection for the news media,” according to Reuters. Thomas suggested that New York Times Co. v. Sullivan et al. “were policy-driven decisions masquerading as constitutional law.”
.
With Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein soon departing, Transportation Department Deputy Secretary Jeff Rosen has been nominated to replace him, USA Today reports. “The nomination of Jeffrey Rosen … had been rumored since Attorney General William Barr took office earlier this month.” In fact, “Rosen worked for more than 30 years at the same law firm, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where Barr served as of counsel before his nomination as attorney general.”
.
Biting the bullet: “The federal government announced its intention Tuesday to cancel nearly $1 billion in pending funding for the state’s long-planned, high-speed train. In a letter to California High-Speed Rail Authority CEO Brian P. Kelly on Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Transportation outlined the government’s reasons for pulling funding. The state has not come up with its own promised funding, will miss a 2022 completion target and has recently reconfigured the project outside the bounds of a federal pact for funding, railroad chief Ronald L. Batory wrote. The federal department will ‘de-obligate’ $928,620,000 in promised cash, but California will be given a chance to argue its case, Batory said in the letter. He also said the Trump administration is ‘exploring all available legal options’ to recover $2.5 billion in past federal grants for the project.” (NBC News)
.
According to Townhall, “President Trump signed the Space Policy Directive 4 on Tuesday to try and get his Space Force off the ground flying. The measure would create the Space Force as an armed service within the Air Force, a slightly different approach than his original plan.” Instead of being an entity that’s “separate but equal,” the Space Force now will at least initially be under the Air Force canopy, though “turning it into the 6th branch of the armed services is still Trump’s long-term goal.” The program is still awaiting Congress’s consent.

“The FBI is working with the U.S. Postal Service to determine whether Empire actor Jussie Smollett sent himself a threatening letter in the days before the "hate crime” he is now under investigation for allegedly staging… The two Nigerian brothers who told Chicago Police last week that Smollett paid them to stage a racially motivated attack on him have also told the authorities that Smollett sent himself the threatening letter that arrived on the Empire set on January 22, just seven days before they claim they conducted the hoax attack.“ (National Review)
.
Via CNSNews.com: "Because of previous news reports and now the revelations of former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe that he ordered a counterintelligence investigation of President Trump in May 2017, and that his FBI team, including Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, discussed secretly wire-recording the president and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office, the government watchdog Judicial Watch is suing the Justice Department. The purpose of Judicial Watch’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit … is to obtain ‘all written and audio/visual records of any FBI/DOJ discussions regarding the 25th Amendment and plans to secretly record President Trump in the Oval Office,’ stated the organization in a press release.”
.
According to The Hill, “House Democrats are digging into the Trump administration’s dealings with Saudi Arabia, making its plan to sell nuclear technology to the kingdom the subject of the first major investigation by the House Oversight and Reform Committee.” However, “Republicans … said Democrats released the interim report without their input, accusing the majority of partisanship.”
.
“An extensive New York Times story published Tuesday purports to take you ‘inside’ President Trump’s ‘Two-Year War on the Investigations Encircling Him.’ But save yourself the precious time and read Trump’s tweets instead,” says the Washington Examiner. The news out of the lengthy piece is an allegation that Trump late last year asked then-acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker if it was possible to appoint U.S. Attorney General for Southern New York Geoffrey Berman, a White House ally, to lead the district’s investigation into Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen, who pleaded guilty in November to charges of perjury, tax evasion, and campaign finance violations. The Times reported that Whitaker ‘knew he could not put Mr. Berman in charge, since Mr. Berman had already recused himself from the investigation’ and admitted that ‘there is no evidence that he took any direct steps to intervene in the Manhattan investigation.’ That’s the extent of news in the story.“

The note appeared the same week Omar attacked Elliott Abrams, a Jewish-American and longtime diplomat who served in the Reagan and Bush administrations. Abrams is now the U.S. Special Representative for Venezuela. Omar has sided with the socialist government in Venezuela, accusing the Trump administration of leading a "U.S.-backed coup" against Nicolas Maduro. Witness for Peace got its start fighting the Reagan administration's anti-communist policies during the Cold War, specifically the group opposed funding the Contras in Nicaragua. Abrams, who Omar called "Mr. Adams," pleaded guilty to misdemeanors for withholding information from Congress during the Iran-Contra scandal, and was later pardoned. "Faith-based peace activists founded Witness for Peace in response to the U.S. funding of the Contras," its website states. {aei.org} ~ Conservatives who will wind up supporting President Trump’s decision to reprogram funds from planned, congressionally-appropriated military construction projects will undoubtedly point to the federal statute (Title 33, section 2293)... allowing a president to reprogram monies when used in support of a mission “essential to the national defense” in a time of a national emergency. They will note that a case can be made that securing the borders is “essential to the national defense” and that the 1976 law outlining a president’s authority to declare a national emergency is sufficiently undefined as to allow the chief executive wide discretion in what he determines is in fact an emergency. However, conservatives ought to think twice before jumping on the president’s bandwagon.  Although under the Constitution, the president is the sole federal official “vested” with “the executive power” and, hence, it resides within his discretion to interpret the laws in order to carry them out, he is also circumscribed by the constitutional duty to see to it that the laws are “faithfully executed.” This not only means that he has an obligation to see to it that subordinate executive branch officers follow the laws and implement statutory mandates but also that he not use his broad discretion for purposes not intended by the law itself.  “Following the law” means remaining true both to the letter and the spirit of the law. Adding fencing to the border is not “essential to the national defense” nor is the problem of illegal immigration a “national emergency.” “Essential” is something one cannot live without and an “emergency” is, according to the Oxford dictionary, “a serious, unexpected, and often dangerous situation requiring immediate action.” Illegal immigration is certainly a serious problem but, as the drawn out discussion over the past two years about what to do about it by the administration and Congress indicates, it is not suddenly an emergency. Conservatives should support the unitary president’s authority as key to promoting effectiveness in the executive sphere but, at the same time, be wary of a president using his discretion in ways that are too clever by half...   http://www.aei.org/publication/trumps-emergency-and-a-constitutionalist-response/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTnpJeE9HTTBNRGN3WVdSaSIsInQiOiJka0phUHJVcFQzM1NQTEh3NDdjYlVmdkVNb2ZuVGlPU2l1K2lRZlpCMzRuTmZpVFBFNE5pblNDWVRhMUtHM1wvdlYzcVVQb0doRU1jMzE1SDZiWm0xNE5Pa0xwSE1HVVNhMHpzbDgzS0hNZzc0MitwckljOENkQThGWHpHb2lQWnoifQ%3D%3D

{spectator.org} ~ Score another one for President Trump. On Friday the President walked into the Rose Garden to discuss his signing of an order declaring a “national emergency” in the case for building a wall... along the southern border. Among other things, he said this: We’re declaring the emergency because we have an invasion of drugs, invasion of gangs, invasion of people and it’s unacceptable. We had a little disappointment for the first year and a half, people that should have stepped up did not step up. They didn’t step up, and they should have. It would have been easy, not that easy, but it would have been a lot easier. But some people didn’t step up. But we’re stepping up now. So we have a chance of getting close to $8 billion, whether it is $8 billion or $2 billion or $1.5 billion it’s going to build a lot of wall. He added: I went through Congress, and I made a deal. I got almost $1.4 billion when I wasn’t supposed to get one dollar, not one dollar. He’s not going to get one dollar. Well, I got $1.4 billion, but I’m not happy with it. I, also, got billions and billions of dollars for other things, port of entries, lots of different things, purchase of drug equipment, more than we were even requesting. Forget all the naysayers. President Trump is winning the Battle of the Wall. And based on the experience of both his life and now his presidency, it is a very safe bet he will not stop until he has accomplished his goal...

The American people, including our men and women in uniform, deserve better. The coming months will bring a host of major national security events, including the management of nuclear treaty violations by Russia, the withdrawal of our troops from Syria, potential adjustments in Afghanistan, ongoing talks with North Korea over its nuclear program, the management of tensions in the South China Sea, a spate of meetings with our allies, the launch of a Space Force, and the modernization of the United States nuclear triad. Topping it off will be a highly consequential debate over defense spending that will determine whether the United States military receives sufficient resources to implement the national defense strategy, restore American military supremacy, and deter conflict with Russia and China. Both our allies and our adversaries will be straining to ascertain our commitment to various defense treaties as well as our willingness to challenge the ever aggressive expansionism of Russia and China. They will also look at our willingness to assist our neighbors in South America, should the turmoil in Venezuela start to wreak even greater regional havoc. They will of course pay special attention to our determination to invest appropriately in our armed forces still trying to recover from years of insufficient funding. A key signal to those watching our every move, and to our own public and those serving in the military, is clearly the selection of a permanent defense secretary. The selection of a defense secretary says a great deal about the agenda of the president and how he intends to implement it. The nomination also says a lot about how the president envisions the role of military affairs in foreign policy and how he intends to orchestrate the entire national security team to advance our United States interests...

Texas Sets New Oil-Production Record

by Business Review Board:  Last year, Texas oil wells produced more than 1.54 billion barrels of oil, besting the previous record of 1.28 billion set in 1973. Gov. Greg Abbott seemed pleased: “As the national leader in oil and natural gas production, Texas is paving the way for America’s energy independence. From technological advancements resulting in increased oil and natural gas output to our LNG export facilities, the Lone Star  State’s energy economy is firing on all cylinders.” He then pledged, “As Governor, I will continue to work with our independent oil and gas producers to take our economy to even greater heights.”

Forbes noted just how incredible the new record was, reporting, “How big is that total production number? Per TIPRO, the second largest oil producing state, North Dakota, came in with 443 million barrels of total oil production for the year, about 29% of the total produced in Texas. Given that, according to the Texas Railroad Commission’s official data, Texas crude production for 2017 came in at 1.027 billion barrels, that means that oil producers in Texas basically increased the state’s oil production by more than the equivalent of North Dakota’s in a single 12-month period.”

But it’s not just Texas that has benefited. The increased production of both crude oil and natural gas has the industry adding to the country’s rising employment numbers. At the end of 2018, the oil industry employed 880,681 people, an increase of 5% over 2017’s numbers. Texas accounted for 352,000 of those jobs. The natural-gas industry also contributed significantly, as it created more than 27,000 jobs last year alone.

Experts estimate that this year Texas’ oil production will surpass that of Iran and Iraq — meaning that the Lone Star State will become the world’s third-largest oil producer behind only Russia and Saudi Arabia.

by uspoliticsandnews.com:  The CEO of Gallup has issued an ambitious poll of 450 million Latin Americans in 33 countries, and the results should be a staggering wake-up call to the American people. According to the results... 27% of all adults south of our southern border want to move to a new country, permanently. The vast majority of them want to move to the United States; they are watching, according to Gallup, for the best time and method to move to America. The most shocking finding of all was the 5 million Latin Americans plan to head into the United States as illegal aliens within the next 12 months. If that is not a crisis – and according to the mainstream media, it is not – then what would a real crisis look like? What would be the effect of a rapid influx of 5 million low-wage peasants on America? What would we do with them? Where would they live? Less than one percent of them speak English, and only a tiny portion have attained a high school-level education. Are schools already overcrowded in your area? Guess what happens next! A handful of adults in the media have tried to convey the seriousness of this problem, but even they do not really do the subject justice. Adam Corolla and Tucker Carlson have both talked on their respective programs about how illegal immigration has dramatically changed California...

{cnsnews.com} ~ How many caravans of illegal aliens does it take to constitute an emergency at the U.S. southern border, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) asked Sunday... Appearing on ABC’s “This Week,” Rep. Jordan responded to host Martha Raddatz quoting Republicans in Congress who oppose President Donald Trump’s emergency declaration. The caravans assaulting our borders, and the drug smuggling putting millions of American lives at risk, comprise an emergency, Jordan argued. What’s more, the Republicans who are now opposing the emergency declaration are the same ones who refused to fight to secure the border back when Republicans held both the House and Senate, Rep. Jordan said: “Martha, this is an emergency. I mean, what are we on now, the fifth caravan? Probably, just ask those senators: how many caravans do we need - six, seven, or just an endless caravan, one that never stops? “What did we have just a few weeks ago? A drug bust that was enough fentanyl to kill 57 million Americans? What do we need, 58 million, 59 million Americans, enough fentanyl to kill that many? So, you tell me. “I think it’s an emergency. What I also think is interesting is those Republicans who are criticizing the president for wanting to do this executive order are the same kind of Republicans who just a year ago didn’t want us to debate and push for the wall funding when we had the majority in both the House and the Senate. “In fact, after Chuck scumbag-Schumer had shut down the government, because he said amnesty was more important than funding the government and we had that big omnibus spending bill, that’s when we should have done this. “So, I think that it’s kind of interesting. Those same Republicans who were against fighting for it back then are the same ones who are criticizing the president now for his executive order.”...  https://www.cnsnews.com/blog/craig-bannister/jim-jordan-border-emergency-how-many-caravans-do-we-need-6-7-or-just-endless?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTldRellqRXhOelZoTkdJeSIsInQiOiJYWXlybkczK0ZuM3NSREp4Sm5Ra0hGWk9YOHRKTmJMY3NacGEwRWxwQnQ1eWZIbkErV2NtTmJtZHJzc1lmRFRUZDBVcGdZRE4wN0dmd3JFbTdXcXVvNDBJTWVnTUh1Zk50dGR3bjk1UG1aU2NBVjlWdDNIQlRHZHJMdFlvcHdybCJ9

{foxnews.com} ~ North Carolina elections officials are conducting a hearing Monday focused on allegations that a political operative tampered with mail-in ballots in a contested November congressional race... At stake is the 9th Congressional District seat that includes Charlotte. The State Board of Elections has not certified unofficial results that showed Republican Mark Harris narrowly beating Democrat Dan McCready by 905 votes. The board could decide a winner or call for a new election at the end of the hearing, which is expected to last a minimum of two days. The political operative, Leslie McCrae Dowless, Jr., was hired by Harris’ campaign consultants. The state has twice refused to declare Harris the winner, after  hearing reports of irregularities just before the election in rural Bladen County, where Dowless lives. One of the methods participants said Dowless used was to hire workers to collect absentee ballots from voters who received them, and then turn them over to him, according to an elections board investigation...

{dailychristiannews.com} ~ Writing in a blog post to his congressional website, McCarthy noted the recent revelation that scumbag-Schiff — who has long claimed to have “evidence” of Trump-Russia collusion, though he has never shown it... met with Fusion GPS co-founder Glenn Simpson in July 2018 at the Aspen Security Forum.  scumbag-Schiff also made a big deal out of then-Republican committee chair Devin Nunes having quiet meetings with the White House, which prompted scumbag-Schiff to demand that Nunes recuse himself from any investigations related to Trump, citing a pro-Trump bias and lack of objectivity. With all of that in mind, McCarthy laid out a series of six questions for scumbag-Schiff that the chairman should answer prior to going any further in his multi-lateral investigations of Trump. First, he asked how many times scumbag-Schiff and Simpson met over the past three years, including the meeting at the Aspen Security Forum and also inquired about what the two men discussed during such meetings. He also asked why scumbag-Schiff had gone to such lengths to try and conceal the role of Fusion GPS in creating the anti-Trump dossier — including trying to block it in court — as well as why scumbag-Schiff seemingly sought investigatory guidance from Simpson during his testimony before the committee.McCarthy also asked why, if scumbag-Schiff was so concerned about “false and misleading testimony to Congress,” he didn’t begin by questioning Simpson’s own false and misleading testimony. Finally, McCarthy also asked why scumbag-Schiff has not recused himself from the investigations, as he had demanded Nunes and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions do over their connections and lack of objectivity...

Lonely Maine Winter

Lovell after freezing rain
{tommclaughlin.blogspot.com} ~ Maine can be dreary in February and March, especially for women. Ladies’ Delight Hill in Lovell, Maine “was not named for the view. Nor because it made a delightful walk for ladies to take on a Sunday afternoon or because it was covered with wonderful blueberries . . . It was named in sarcasm because women who tried to live in two houses built there could not endure the loneliness and isolation.” So says a history of Lovell called Blueberries and Pusley Weed.

View from my office

The hill isn’t far from me as I type this. In summer I can hear loons crying on Lower Bay of Kezar Lake on which Ladies’ Delight Hill borders, but in winter there’s not much happening over there. The road is plowed and some of the waterfront cottages are used year-’round. Caretakers go in and shovel roofs during snowy winters like this one.
gettyimages-351-110-640x640.jpg
I remember shoveling one over there forty years ago. Park on the road, climb over the snowbank, trudge through deep snow lugging a ladder and a shovel, and get on the roof. It was so quiet the only sound was the “whoomp!” of a big cube of snow I carved out dropping into deep snow on the ground below. I would think of those lonely ladies who lived here generations ago. Women need the company of others more than men do. They need to talk and have someone listen. Lovell Village wasn’t far away but there was no bridge over the Narrows back then. One had to take a ferry in summer or walk over ice in winter to get there.

Stone wall behind my house in Lovell

A hundred fifty years ago this part of Maine wasn’t “Vacationland.” There were no summer cottages on the lakes and ponds or on the hillsides either. There weren’t many trees because farmers had cleared them off, pulled the stumps, and rolled stones to the borders of their property to make the now-gray stone walls around which trees have grown up again in most places. Old timers told me you could travel up Route 5 all the way through town and see Kezar Lake constantly in view because it was treeless clear to the New Hampshire border in the west.

Maple Ridge Road in Harrison last weekend

Though Lovell is nearly all forested again, parts of western Maine still look like they did back then. Last Sunday I drove to Harrison along the Maple Ridge Road. It goes for over a mile with long fields on both sides. It starts just off Route 117 just beyond Crystal Lake and rises through woods to the height of land where it opens up. Fields slope off from the road but not steeply. Big old wooden farmhouses still stand along the road, but the snowbanks were so high I couldn’t easily see over them from my car and I wished I’d taken my pickup instead.
TMC_3272.jpeg
Maple Ridge Road looking west

Those big homes would have been built in the early 1800s, a generation or two after the first settlers cleared their tillable land, sold crops for cash, and their children or grandchildren became prosperous enough to build them. A couple are now horse farms which may bring in a little money here and there, but are probably hobbies for the most part. There was so much snow on the ground I couldn’t tell what the other farms were used for but it was nice to see long fields with unbroken snow cover surrounding them.
TMC_3261.jpeg
Maple Ridge Road Schoolhouse

Some areas had become overgrown since I was there about thirty years ago. The old wooden schoolhouse was still standing but it’ll need work if it’s going to last another thirty years. I’d liked to have looked in the windows but didn’t want to trudge through deep snow to go up to them. Across the street I could see an old windmill still standing in what had been a field but is now overtaken by new growth. There were the faint outlines of old building further back in the bare trees. I would like to have explored that but the deep snow prevented.
TMC_3267.jpeg
Separate doors for boys and girls

I can only imagine what it took two centuries ago to travel any distance during a winter like this one. It would have been an all-day affair: feed and water the livestock first; hook up the horse to the sleigh; break the runners out of the ice; head to the store or to a neighbor’s farm across town all bundled up and shivering on the seat. Then head home again; unhitch the horse; wipe it down; put it back in its stall; feed and water the livestock again; then go into the house and stoke up the stoves to warm things up — all that just so you could pick up some necessary items and the wives could visit.

{dailysignal.com} ~ President Donald Trump was principled and politically astute to address, in his State of the Union, the horrors taking place now in Venezuela, and then to declare: “Tonight we renew our resolve that America will never be a socialist country.”... Venezuela is indeed a poster child for what happens when a nation’s economic machinery falls under political control. Over the last five years, per The Wall Street Journal, Venezuela’s economy shrank by 35 percent and poverty tripled from 48 to 87 percent. According to Gallup, 71 percent of Venezuelans say they can’t afford food, 47 percent say they can’t afford shelter, just 15 percent say they are satisfied with the availability of quality health care, and 35 percent say they are satisfied with their standard of living. Thirty-six percent of Venezuelans—51 percent of those between 15 and 29—say they would leave the country permanently if they could. But if it is so clear that socialism is a formula for economic disaster, why does the idea still conjure up support?...  https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/02/13/socialism-has-already-hurt-america/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiTlRVMU1qbGxPRFZtTnpaaCIsInQiOiJvZ04zYjJSSEFsYldtb0N2WDFIM1RoN3pPR3lzMzVhc2laR2dwN2R6MDBjMTkwUUFaR2E4aEV4UXl1eURBNVJqMGxnSDdzakdoeHZPQ0lyNEFVMnBta0NkRjhydmhqa1hBNjRUVkxPQUlPcWVaWlE4WXlGTlFubGJTbWxiVk80XC8ifQ%3D%3D

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo spent the week leading up to the Munich Security Conference warning Central European leaders against Chinese and Russian encroachment, a call echoed by German leaders at the conference.“What we really have to do is not be afraid of what can happen but go the exactly the other way," Worner said. But that is not exactly how the special forces unit is being used. Members of the squad wear masks when deployed, and they are believed to have special forces and weapons training. Local rights groups have claimed Maduro is using the private force as a rogue squad to issue death sentences. The good news is that more states are starting to jump on board with voter ID laws, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. But currently only seven states require a photo ID. Three states require identification without a photo. Another 25 states “request” an ID, but allow voters to cast a provisional ballot if they can’t provide one.

In other words, there’s inconsistency across the board when it comes to verifying the identity of voters. If nothing else, these new laws will make it easier to see just how pervasive the problem is.

It’s no wonder the Left opposes commonsense voter ID. After all, the cheaters (as we saw in Florida’s Broward County last November) tend to be Democrats. Accordingly, the Left continues to peddle the false notion that the laws are nothing more than a way for Republicans to keep minorities from voting. Unfortunately, the mainstream media has pushed this false narrative and convinced many Americans that voter ID laws are inherently racist.

A new study, however, is bad news for these false prophets.

Professors Vincent Pons of Harvard Business School and Enrico Cantoni of the economics department at Italy’s University of Bologna conducted a study issued by the National Bureau of Economic Research. They concluded, “Strict ID laws have no significant negative effect on registration or turnout, overall or for any subgroup defined by age, gender, race, or party affiliation.”

In fact, areas with voter ID in place may actually see more so-called disadvantaged groups on Election Day. According to The Washington Free Beacon, the study also concluded, “Paradoxically … voter ID laws might goose turnout among certain marginalized groups. This, the authors argue, is because a perceived ‘attack’ on a right (e.g., the right to vote) can mobilize voters who would otherwise fail to turn out.”

Pons and Cantoni are not alone in their findings.

The Daily Signal reports, “Various studies in recent years done by professors at the University of Missouri, the University of Delaware, [and] the University of Nebraska surveying elections from 2000 through 2016 found similar results that voter ID laws do not suppress voter turnout.”

While it’s pretty clear that voter ID laws don’t keep anyone from voting, there is inconclusive evidence as to whether such laws combat voter fraud. One of the problems is that we haven’t had a sustained effort to uncover the causes of fraud at the ballot box — a task made even harder by those states that fail to require any form of ID on Election Day in the first place.

Of course, it doesn’t take millions of fraudulent votes to tilt an election — especially in a country whose political loyalties are so evenly split. A few illegals here, a few felons there, and a handful of dead people in that other place can make all the difference. Fortunately, organizations such as The Heritage Foundation are working to show Americans that voter fraud is real.

But Democrats are committed to keeping the scales tipped in their favor. They’re aggressively campaigning against the Electoral College itself and pushing for support of both the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact and the grossly misnamed For the People Act. All of these measures are designed to overturn our long-established electoral system and open up the floodgates for widespread fraud.

Leftists are always clamoring that we “count every vote.” How telling it is that they’re also doing everything they can to keep the rest of us from ensuring the integrity of our elections.  ~The Patriot Post

For the Record, scumbag/liar-nObama
Made Mincemeat of the Constitution
by Jack Cashill

{americanthinker.com} ~ Good constitutional arguments can be made for and against President Trump's evocation of emergency powers to address the crisis at our southern border. But the notion that such a declaration would encourage a future Democratic president to do something similar borders on the comic...
Democrats don't need encouragement. Under President Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, the Constitution was violated more wantonly than a goat at a Taliban bachelor party, and the faithful cheered every violation. In early 2014, New Yorker editor and scumbag/liar-nObama groupie David Remnick wrote about his experience accompanying scumbag/liar-nObama on a west-coast fundraising tour. At one stop, when scumbag/liar-nObama walked out on stage, "It happened again: another heckler broke into scumbag/liar-nObama's speech. A man in the balcony repeatedly shouted out, 'Executive order!' demanding that the President bypass Congress with more unilateral actions." scumbag/liar-nObama confirmed to the audience that, yes, people did want him to sign more executive orders and "basically nullify Congress."  At that point, wrote Remnick, "Many in the crowd applauded their approval. Yes! Nullify it!" These were not wild-eyed tent-dwellers on Wall or some lesser street. These were potential donors. By 2014, scumbag/liar-nObama had successfully nullified any number of laws with negligible media objection. In February 2011, for instance, scumbag/liar-nObama and "wing man" Attorney General scumbag-Eric Holder came willy-nilly to the conclusion that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) was not "constitutional."  President scumbag/liar-Bill Clinton signed DOMA into law in 1996 with overwhelming support from Democrats in Congress and nearly unanimous support from Republicans...

{dailycaller.com} ~ Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar is scheduled to raise money in March with the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR)... only a week after she used an anti-Semitic trope to claim Israel has paid for GOP support. Omar will be the keynote speaker at CAIR’s 4th Annual Valley Banquet on March 23 to discuss advancing justice and empowering Muslims, according to the organization’s invitation. Single tickets start at $55 per person and a table can cost upwards of $500. Hassan Shibly, the chief executive director for CAIR-Florida, will also be speaking at the event. Shibly has emphatically stated that Hezbollah and Hamas are not terrorist organizations, reported Jordan Schachtel at  Conservative Review. Hussam Ayloush, the chief executive director for CAIR-LA, who is hosting the event, compared the state of Israel to the Islamic State during a speech in April. Shibley has repeatedly echoed those sentiments and spread propaganda describing U.S. armed forces as radical terrorists... Omar is unAmerican and needs to go.  https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/17/ilhan-omar-cair-fundraise/?utm_medium=email

{thefederalist.com} ~ New York State just passed a gruesome law that legalizes abortions up to and including the point of birth. A bill in Virginia, supported by Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam, would have apparently legalized the killing of just-born infants... The pro-life movement needs to strike back, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)—part of President Donald Trump’s executive branch—is the vehicle through which to strike that blow. Late last year, it was reported that the Trump administration’s HHS was launching a review of the federal government’s funding of fetal tissue research using the remains of aborted babies. The National Institutes of Health (NIH), part of HHS, spent $103 million on fetal tissue research in 2018. As part of the review, an audit is being conducted to determine the extent fetal tissue is used in government research by government scientists. NIH researchers were told to pause orders of fetal tissue, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) was told to cancel a contract with a fetal tissue provider. In this case, the fetal tissue was being used by the FDA to develop “humanized mice”—by placing human cells obtained from aborted human tissue into mice—for testing. Non-government scientists’ use of taxpayer money for fetal tissue research is also being examined. A project by the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), which sought to develop humanized mice in an attempt to find a cure for HIV, was put on hold as well—but only after pro-lifers  raised awareness about that contract. After complaints from researchers who depend on these funds, HHS is now saying that the UCSF contract has not been officially cancelled, as the audit is still ongoing. Worse, the rules pausing fetal tissue research only apply to government scientists, not the tens of millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded grants received by those who are not directly employed by the government...  http://thefederalist.com/2019/02/18/trump-administration-needs-yank-federal-funding-research-using-bodies-aborted-babies/?utm_source=The+Federalist+List&utm_campaign=07ccfb56ae-RSS_The_Federalist_Daily_Updates_w_Transom&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_cfcb868ceb-07ccfb56ae-83771801

Graham: McCabe revelations 'beyond stunning'
by Brett Samuels

{thehill.com} ~ Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Sunday pledged to thoroughly investigate comments from Andrew McCabeafter the former FBI deputy director told...
"60 Minutes" that Justice Department officials discussed a plan to potentially remove President Trump from office. "We're going to find out what happened here and the only way I know to find out is to call the people in under oath and find out, through questioning, who's telling the truth because the underlying accusation is beyond stunning," Graham said on "Face the Nation." Graham, the chairman the of the Senate Judiciary Committee,  reiterated that he intends to subpoena McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to testify before the panel if they won't agree to do so voluntarily. The senator downplayed the notion that an investigation into the FBI will further damage the bureau's credibility. "There is no organization beyond scrutiny," he said. "There is no organization that can't withstand scrutiny. And the FBI will come out stronger." "But we've got to get to the bottom of it," he continued. "What are people to think after they watch '60 Minutes' when they hear this accusation by the acting deputy — acting FBI director that the deputy attorney general encouraged him to try to find ways to count votes to replace the president? That can't go unaddressed."...

by Business Review Board:  The speculation turned out to be authentic. On Thursday, Amazon officially reneged on its New York City headquarters. The rumor that it would do so first appeared last Friday in The Washington Post, which disclosed that “Amazon.com is reconsidering its plan to bring 25,000 jobs to a new campus in New York City.” The Post elaborated, “The project … faces withering criticism from some elected officials and advocacy groups appalled at the prospect of giving giant subsidies to the world’s most valuable company, led by its richest man.” A man who, by the way, owns The Washington Post.

“After much thought and deliberation, we’ve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens,” Amazon announced yesterday. Why? “A number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.”

One of those politicians is actually Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who crowed about having “defeated Amazon’s corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world.”

Democrat Gov. Andrew evil-Cuomo, already battling a revenue shortfall in the state, isn’t happy. He complained, “A small group politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community — which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City — the state’s economic future and the best interests of the people of this state.” He didn’t name commie-Ocasio-Cortez, but the Millennial heartthrob was clearly one of his prime targets.

The second headquarters was to be split between Queens, New York, and the DC suburb of Crystal City, Virginia — a determination that our Thomas Gallatin previously reported was cronyistic from the get-go. “In the end, the reasoning behind this decision is obvious: direct access to the levers of financial and political power in two high-profile leftist enclaves,” wrote Gallatin. “Instead of locating the new headquarters in the most business-friendly states and environments, Amazon chose leftist power centers knowing that the company will be able to seamlessly pass on any higher costs to consumers. And the tax benefits to Amazon work out to almost $50,000 per job created. Cronyism at its finest.”

In this regard, Amazon’s backtracking is good. It’s one thing if a neighborhood decides it doesn’t want a huge corporate HQ in its backyard, but Amazon had no other choice given the prevailing  political headwinds.

According to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, “We gave Amazon the opportunity to be a good neighbor and do business in the greatest city in the world. Instead of working with the community, Amazon threw away that opportunity.” The truth is New York City should not have been a finalist, especially when superior suitors were fiercely vying to be selected. Amazon says, “We do not intend to reopen the HQ2 search at this time.” Regardless, it has an opportunity to make a better business decision than it did back in November.

As the Washington Examiner saliently puts it, “In the end, the termination of this deal is a win for everyone. The socialists get to crow about keeping their neighborhoods poor. New York’s taxpayers don’t have to pay Jeff Bezos exorbitant sums to do business in their state. And Amazon, having learned its lesson about dealing with socialists, might benefit as well if, instead of seeking special handouts, it seeks in the future to create jobs in low-tax states with right-to-work protections and a friendly-but-fair business climate for everyone.”  ~The Patriot Post

{freebeacon.com} ~ The "Bezeq-Walla! Affair," or Case 4000 as it’s been dubbed by Israeli media, is one of three corruption cases facing Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu... It’s also the most serious in that everyone, including the prime minister, believes that it will lead to an indictment in the coming weeks—an X factor that could prove fatal to Likud Party hopes in the April 9 elections. The Israeli police, who recommend indictment, say that Netanyahu helped Israeli tycoon Shaul Elovitch by pushing through the merger of two companies he owned, telecommunications firm Bezeq and satellite TV company Yes. Elovitch made $269 million on the deal. In exchange, Netanyahu and his family would receive favorable news coverage from Walla!, a news site Bezeq owned. But the closer one looks, the less things add up. According to all those involved, the merger of Bezeq-Yes was done by the book. The head of Israel’s Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council, Dr. Yifat Ben Hai Segev, who served in the position from 2014-2018, said "There wasn’t any pressure from the side of Netanyahu’s people to approve the merger." Orly Yehezkel, a current member of the council, told Israel’s Channel 20, "The discussions were professional discussions. The people were professional people. … We received all the material. We sat there hours. Paragraph after paragraph. Paragraph after paragraph. No one influenced us. No one turned to us. No one requested anything from us."...

by Mark Alexander:  This week, after the Senate concluded its Trump/Russia collusion investigation determining there is not a shred of evidence of any collusion, there was a new bright light shed on the Clinton/DoJ/FBI conspiracy to entrap Donald Trump and expel him from office.

Despite all the MSM hyperbole — Left and Right — over the last two years, the latest evidence of a DoJ/FBI conspiracy against Trump illuminates a very dangerous episode in American political history — much more ominous than Richard Nixon’s concealment of the DNC/Watergate burglary.

In fact, Watergate was a wading pool compared to the deep, dark depths of the collusion between scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton and Barack scumbag/liar-nObama operatives within the Department of Justice — all Democrat Party partisans — who contemplated two vectors for removing Trump from office.

First, they considered using the 25th Amendment provision for removing a president who is completely incapacitated. When that consideration was discarded, the same FBI and DoJ conspirators implemented a different tack to severely disable Trump and his administration — hobbling him with endless and baseless investigations. To be clear, this was not the typical obstructionist investigations fronted by opposing factions in Congress — this was a secret conspiracy by high-level government officials to oust a president.

We have covered the FBI/DoJ tactical charade in depth over the last two years, most notably in our analysis of former FBI Director scumbag-James Comey’s higher loyalty to scumbag/liar-Clinton, the firing of then-acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, the “dirty cop-Mueller/scumbag/liar-Clinton Collusion to Take Down Trump,” and the Department of Justice IG report on scumbag/commie-Brennan,scumbag-Comey, and   scumbag/liar-Clinton as corrupt co-conspirators.

Until this week, discussions about the “25th Amendment” option had been largely dismissed as facetious, but enter Andrew McCabe again, now declaring in a CBS interview that those discussions were serious.

While the full interview has not been released, his interviewer, CBS’s Scott Pelley, says, “The most illuminating and surprising thing in the interview to me were these eight days in May when all of these things were happening behind the scenes. … There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment. These were the eight days from scumbag-Comey’s firing to the point that dirty cop-Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel. And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president.”

Regarding consideration of the 25th Amendment option, McCabe told CBS this was not facetious but in fact a repeated and serious consideration — so much so that McCabe consulted lawyers to discuss if it could be done. He also said that then-Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s suggestion about recording conversations with Trump to set him up for a 25th takedown was not sarcastic, as it has been portrayed.

Regarding what amounts to a brazen coup d'etat attempt, former Harvard constitutional law professor and noted liberal Alan Dershowitz observed: “The 25th Amendment is about Woodrow Wilson having a stroke. It’s about a president being shot and not being able to perform his office. It’s not about the most fundamental disagreements. It’s not about impeachable offenses. Any Justice Department official who even mentioned the 25th Amendment in the context of President Trump has committed a grievous offense against the Constitution. … To use the 25th Amendment to circumvent the impeachment provisions or to circumvent an election is a despicable act of unconstitutional power grabbing. … I challenge any left-wing person to … defend the use of the 25th Amendment. by Media Editors:  “Today, on Presidents Day, we take President Trump to court to block his misuse of presidential power.” So stated California Attorney General Xavier Becerra yesterday during the unveiling of a lawsuit from 16 states that seeks to annul the president’s national-emergency declaration. The judicial system, as expected, is now tasked with ruling for or against the declaration. And though the initial outlook is gloomy, expect the Supreme Court to eventually chime in — with the caveat that it needs to happen before the 2020 presidential election.
.
According to Bloomberg, “Elizabeth dinky-Warren proposed a universal child care plan that would limit American families’ expenses to 7 percent of income regardless of how many children they have in care — paid for by a tax on the ultra-wealthy.” The scheme “would make child care free for families with incomes below 200 percent of the poverty level, or less than $51,500 for a family of four.” The price tag is reportedly $70 billion annually and is estimated to double child-care attendance. But as with anything taxpayer-funded, this cost is likely woefully underestimated.
.
According to Gallup, “Thirty-five percent of Americans name the government, poor leadership or politicians as the greatest problem facing the U.S. This is the highest percentage Gallup has recorded for this concern, edging out the previous high of 33% during the 2013 federal government shutdown.” Furthermore, “The current percentage of Americans naming government as the most important problem is nearly twice as high as the 18% recorded in November. That increase likely reflects public frustration with the government shutdown that occurred from late December through most of January.” Not surprisingly, therefore, immigration is No. 2 on the list, with 19% calling it a top problem.

Smaller tax refunds put GOP on defensive, headlines The Hill, which then goes on to report the truth — smaller refunds mean people paid less all year. If only Americans didn’t have to wade through Dezinformatsiya headlines to learn that.
.
Rep. Matt Gaetz recently revealed that “Democrats in the Judiciary Committee … voted against notifying ICE when an illegal alien fails a background check to buy a gun.” He further observed, “They hate ICE so much that they’d keep ICE in the dark when illegals try to get guns!” As Townhall reports, “Last year a record number of illegal aliens, millions of them, tried to purchase firearms in the United States. Not only is it illegal to enter the United States without permission, it’s also illegal to purchase or possess a gun.” Ironically, Democrats’ demands for gun control is demonstrably confined to lawful citizens.
.
“A 45-year-old Mexican national detained by U.S. Customs and Border Protection died Monday at a medical facility in McAllen, Tex., after twice seeking medical attention,” The Washington Post reports, adding, “Another death is likely to raise fresh questions for the border control organization … especially as the president crusades for a wall at the southern border.” The under reported issue is that “the unnamed adult was apprehended on Feb. 2 for ‘illegal reentry,’ which means the individual had tried to enter the country at least once before.” Moreover, the individual, who had cirrhosis of the liver and congestive heart failure, was administered health care twice upon request.
.
If at first you don’t succeed… “Vermont Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders is giving it another go, launching a second campaign for the White House four years after surprising Democrats with a strong bid for the party’s 2016 nomination. … But this 2020 bid will undoubtedly be a very different presidential campaign than his quest for the Democratic nomination as an underdog in 2016. commie-Sanders enters the race as a top contender who, along with former Vice President loose lips-Joe Biden, tops most early polls, far outpacing other Democratic candidates in support and name identification.” (NPR)
.
Good riddance: “Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is expected to leave the Justice Department in mid-March. Rosenstein’s departure was largely expected, with last week’s Senate confirmation of President Trump attorney general nominee William Barr. New attorney generals usually have at least some say in selection of deputy attorney general, whose office largely runs the Justice Department on a daily basis.” (Washington Examiner)
.
“‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett, upset after a racist letter sent to the show’s studio didn’t get a ‘bigger reaction,’ is suspected of paying two men to attack him a week later, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the investigation,” CBS Chicago reports. “‘When the letter didn’t get enough attention, he concocted the staged attack,’ a source told CBS 2 Investigator Brad Edwards. Other sources corroborated that information.” There are also reports that Smollett scouted the location and rehearsed the attack. Yet Facebook is censoring content  exposing the scheme.
.
WBKO reports, “A Tennessee man is in jail after being accused of pulling a gun on a Sam’s Club customer Saturday.” But why? “According to the alleged victim … a man pulled a gun on him because he was wearing a Make America Great Again (MAGA) hat. … The police report confirms that the suspect, identified as James Phillips, admitted to flipping off Pierce and Pierce’s wife because of their hats.” The mainstream media response? Crickets.

Policy: “Democrats intend to save ‘democracy’ by putting themselves in charge of elections,” says The Daily Signal’s Jarrett Stepman. “As absurd as that sounds, it really is a part of the inappropriately named ‘For the People Act of 2019,’ or H.R. 1, moving through the House of Representatives.” Read more on why this is a recipe for one-party rule.

Collusion: The Criminalization of Policy Disputes

{nationalreview.com} ~ What a weasel word “collusion” is. In Washington, Senator Richard Burr (R., N.C.), chairman of the Intelligence Committee, has now seen fit to pronounce that, after two years of investigation, the panel has found no evidence of collusion... between the Trump campaign and the Russian regime. Meanwhile, in a nearby courtroom, Special Counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s senior staffer, Andrew Weissmann, told a federal judge that an August 2016 meeting between the then-chairman of the Trump campaign and a suspected Russian intelligence officer “goes . . . very much to the heart of what the special counsel is investigating” — which sure sounds like dirty cop-Mueller’s collusion hunt is alive and well. What gives? Readers of these columns know that the “collusion” label has been a pet peeve of your humble correspondent since the media-Democratic “Putin hacked the election” narrative followed hard on the declaration of Donald Trump’s victory in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, November 9, 2016. The reason for the collusion  label is obvious. Those peddling the “Putin hacked the election” story have always lacked credible evidence that Trump was complicit in the Kremlin’s “cyber-espionage.” They could not show a criminal conspiracy. Connections between denizens of Trump World and Putin’s circle might be very intriguing, and perhaps even politically scandalous. But only a conspiracy — an agreement by two or more people to commit an actual criminal offense, such as hacking — would be a reasonable basis for prosecution or impeachment. This dearth of proof was significant. The Russians apparently started hacking operations in 2014, long before Trump entered the race. The FBI first warned the Democratic National Committee about penetration of its servers in September 2015. By the time Trump won, the Bureau and U.S. intelligence agencies had been working hard to understand the nature and extent of Kremlin-directed hacking operations for two years. The investigation was so high-level, so intense, that shortly before the election, there were confrontational conversations between CIA director scumbag/commie-John Brennan and his Russian counterpart, FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov, and later between President scumbag/liar-nObama and Russian president Putin...
Pretending terrorism is America's fault –

{wnd.com} ~ Slam is conquering Europe through uncontrolled immigration and a sky-high birth rate, while jihadist mass-murder attacks pose an ever-present threat both in Europe, the U.K. and America... Against that backdrop, one of the most egregious examples of psychological projection in today’s politics is the ongoing campaign – by Islamic supremacists and their enablers in the progressive left, including the media – not only to deny that Islamic terrorism has anything to do with Islam, but to portray Muslims as the innocent victims of racial and religious hatred on the part of a bigoted America. Following is the introductory chapter of Jamie Glazov’s acclaimed new book, “Jihadist Psychopath: How He Is Charming, Seducing, and Devouring Us,” which explains this psychological and spiritual jiu-jitsu. At approximately 3:05 p.m. on Halloween afternoon, October 31, 2017, twenty-nine-year-old Sayfullo Saipov drove a rented truck onto a Manhattan bike path and slammed into nearly two dozen cyclists and pedestrians. He then crashed into a school bus and emerged from the vehicle wielding a paintball gun and a pellet gun. He screamed “Allahu Akbar” throughout the whole ordeal and succeeded in murdering eight people and wounding fifteen – until an NYPD officer shot and wounded him, dropping him to the ground. Saipov was a married Muslim father of three who had come to the United States from Uzbekistan seven years earlier on a “diversity visa lottery” program, a system that allows foreigners into the country, not through their merit, but through random games of chance. The evidence was overwhelmingly clear that this Uzbekistani immigrant was engaging in Islamic jihad during his massacre on that Halloween afternoon in Manhattan. Indeed, he was already known to law enforcement “for his direct ties to other terrorism suspects under investigation,” and the FBI quickly tracked down a second Muslim in connection with his attack. Saipov had also left a note behind in the truck, stating that the Islamic State “would endure forever” and that “There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet.” His cell phones contained thousands of Islamic State-related images, including about ninety videos depicting Islamic State fighters killing prisoners by running them over with a tank, beheading them, and shooting them in the face...

{jpost.com} ~ Israel will deduct more than half a billion shekels it collects in tariffs for the Palestinian Authority because of payments the PA makes to terrorists and their families, the security cabinet decided on Sunday... According to a statement the Prime Minister's Office put out following the meeting, security officials told the cabinet that in 2018 the PA paid out NIS 502,697,000 ($140m) to terrorists imprisoned in Israeli jails, their families, and to security prisoners who had been released. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed the security echelon to further investigate the scope of the payments, and as this information is obtained, the sum to be deducted is to be adjusted accordingly. On July 7, the Knesset passed legislation introduced by Avi Dichter (Likud) and Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) requiring the Defense Ministry to inform the security cabinet of how much the PA pays in “welfare payments to terrorists and their families,” which will then be deducted from the amount Israel transfers to the PA each month. This legislation followed passage of the Taylor Force Act in the US, which ended most US assistance to the Palestinians unless the PA stops payments to terrorist and their families, so called “pay-to-slay.”...  https://www.jpost.com/Breaking-News/Cabinet-decides-to-deduct-money-from-Palestinian-aid-for-funding-terrorism-580947

House Democrats CAUGHT Red Handed;
Here’s How They Spend Taxpayer Money

{dailycaller.com} ~ House Democrats ordered the systematic falsification of records showing how they spend their taxpayer-provided office budgets, according to lawyers for two former House information technology (IT) aides... It’s a remarkable accusation that pits sitting lawmakers against the former aides, Imran Awan, his brothers Abid and Jamal, and his wife Hina Alvi. Imran was arrested in July while trying to board a flight to Pakistan, and then indicted on four counts of bank fraud involving moving money to that country. Imran and Hina, who was also indicted, face a court date Friday. One of Imran’s lawyers, Aaron Page, acknowledged the invoicing discrepancy Aug. 21, telling The Daily Caller News Foundation, “This is just how things have been done for forever. This is what experienced members of Congress expect: to expedite things, they adjust the pricing.” If members or senior staff instructed IT aides to misrepresent how budgets were spent, that could potentially explain why officials have not charged the Awans with crimes related to procurement, even a full year after House authorities gathered documentation showing invoices that claimed expensive technological items cost $499 instead of their true price: potentially an open-and-shut violation. “The only reason you’re not seeing charges is because the Democrats who employed him are not cooperating,” a senior Republican congressional official with direct knowledge of the probe told TheDCNF last month. He was initially surprised by seeming recalcitrant to enforce House rules, the official said, and eventually saw it as supporting the idea that members might fear that an investigation into rogue staffers could ultimately implicate members or senior staffers in procurement misconduct...

Hence, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the regime Mr. Zarif represents is an evil one. "It publicly calls for the destruction of my nation. It Hangs gays. It oppresses women. It persecutes minorities and violates human rights. It undermines stability throughout the Middle East and sponsors terror all over the globe. It represents a grave danger to the Middle East and world order. It is the Nemesis of everything the people in this hall hold dear-and believe in. Trump Signs Funding Bill, Declares Emergency
to Secure Border

by Thomas Gallatin:  In a Rose Garden ceremony this morning, President Donald Trump signed an omnibus spending deal that includes $1.35 billion for the construction of a border barrier. He also said he’s signed the order declaring a national emergency to tap into as much as another $8 billion in funding for the border barrier. This announcement set off Democrats and some Republicans in voicing their objections.

House Speaker Nancy Pulosi (D-CA) warned, “A Democratic president can declare emergencies, as well. So the precedent that the president is setting here is something that should be met with great unease and dismay by the Republicans.” Pulosi then pointed to one of the Democrats long-running hobby horses and said, “Let’s talk about … the one-year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America. That’s a national emergency. Why don’t you declare that emergency, Mr. President? … But a Democratic president can do that.” Except we have a little thing called the Second Amendment…

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) voiced constitutional concerns over Trump’s decision, stating, “We have a crisis at our southern border, but no crisis justifies violating the Constitution. Today’s national emergency is border security. But a future president may use this exact tactic to impose the Green New Deal.” But Rubio did note that he would await further details of Trump’s emergency declaration before determining whether he’d support it.

Regarding the subject of national emergencies, it’s important to note that the National Emergencies Act of 1976 was passed primarily as a means of keeping better track of the emergency powers granted to the president and determining which declarations were still in effect. Essentially, the authority to declare a national emergency grants the president special temporary power to deal with a crisis directly related to foreign threats that arise against American interests both domestic and abroad. There are currently 31 active national emergencies, the oldest being Jimmy Carter’s sanctions against the Iranian government.

In declaring a national emergency, Trump can point back to his repeated calls to Congress to act on the growing illegal-immigration crisis that has contributed to the drug-related deaths of tens of thousands of Americans and the murders of many others, costs American taxpayers billions annually in welfare services provided to illegal aliens, and hurts American workers by flooding the labor force with low-skilled illegal workers. Trump has worked to paint Democrats into a corner on this issue, demonstrating that they have no desire to protect American  citizens first and foremost, which is their constitutional duty.

Recall that Democrats didn’t voice any objections when Barack scumbag/liar-nObama overreached his executive authority some 76 times, as Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) notes, and yet when Trump seeks to use his rightful executive authority to enforce the nation’s laws, Democrats (and a few Republicans) squeal about constitutional overreach.

While we would certainly have preferred to see Congress act to provide the full funding for the construction of a more secure border barrier and increased border security, Trump’s emergency declaration is well within his constitutional authority. However, there is no question that this battle will soon move to the courts.  ~The Patriot Post

{dailycaller.com} ~ California Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff said Sunday morning that there is plenty of evidence suggesting the Trump campaign and Russia colluded to tilt the 2016 presidency... away from former Secretary of State scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton. “You can see evidence in plain sight on the issue of collusion — pretty compelling evidence,” scumbag-Schiff told Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Now there’s a  difference between seeing evidence of collusion and being able to prove a criminal conspiracy beyond a reasonable doubt,” the Democrat noted before turning his attention to Republican North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr. “Chairman Burr must have a different word for it because when you look, for example, at a meeting in Trump Tower, it was offered to the Trump campaign to the president’s own son dirt on scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton as part of what was described as the Russian government’s effort to help Donald Trump in the campaign,” he said. scumkbag-Schiff, who is heading the House Intelligence Committee’s  investigation into Russian meddling, was referring  to Burr’s admission that the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has been unable to find any evidence that Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia...scumbag-Schiff is blind and can't see the truth.  https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/17/adam-schiff-russia-trump/?utm_medium=email

{townhall.com} ~ House Resolution 1 should really be called the ‘Fill the Swamp Act.’ This crooked piece of legislation would mandate a colossal takeover of the state election process to empower big government liberals and corporate interests... So, of course, Democrats are trying to force it through. It seems every year that passes more and more power is shifted away from the people and into the hands of a wealthy, elite few in Washington. These politicians and bureaucrats  love micromanaging more and more of our everyday lives. From our roads and bridges, our firearms, our relationships with our doctors, our elementary schools, our farms and even our toilets, these freedom and federalism hating politicians cannot help themselves from interfering with Americans’ choices. But now, on top of all that, they want to dictate how states run their elections? They want to tell Tennessee to enact same-day voter registration, with no time for verification? They want to tell Tennessee we cannot require IDs to be shown at the polls, increasing the likelihood of fraud? They want to tell Tennessee that some unaccountable commission must draw its districts? They want to tell Tennessee it must subsidize far-left candidates in other states with taxpayer money. How dare they try to strip Tennessee of its autonomy. H.R. 1 is nothing other than a power-grab designed to elect Democrats that will give the federal government even more power. This bill is wrong, and the American people deserve to know...  https://townhall.com/capitol-voices/congressmanmarkgreen/2019/02/13/hr-1-is-nothing-but-a-power-grab-designed-to-elect-democrats-n2541459

{americanthinker.com} ~ Masks are slipping away on the progressive left, as the 2020 election comes into focus. Not only do we know that a “coup” was planned by foes of President Trump, we now can openly and unreservedly speak of another unpleasant but inescapable truth that was revealed during the past year... Prior to the surprise victory of Democrat Socialist commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) last June 26 in her primary race for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, it was largely frowned upon to describe the Democratic Party as “socialist.” Over the summer, the rag tag far left Occupy ICE movement gained support among elected local Democrat politicians in many cities around the country. By the fall, Democrat candidates for governor  in Florida and Georgia, and for the U.S. Senate in Texas, were echoing the abolish ICE/Open Borders theme of the Occupy radicals. When the Democrats captured the House in the November Midterm elections, what was left of a moderate mask was finally torn off as Democrat leaders and newbie members of Congress alike jumped on the socialist bandwagon. In the three and a half months since the election, with full-blown socialist AOC having emerged as the most prominent and arguably the most influential Democrat politician in the country, the definition of Democrats as “socialists” can no longer be denied. This is happening at the same time that socialism’s disastrous failure in Venezuela is utterly undeniable. Millions of starving Venezuelans have fled to neighboring countries like Colombia, and the Maduro dictatorship survives solely on the basis of support from senior military officials who have been bribed and fear retribution when the “socialist paradise” they have fashioned collapses...

{dailycaller.com} ~ Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham pledged Sunday to hold a hearing to determine whether top Justice Department and FBI official discussed a “bureaucratic coup”... to remove President Donald Trump from office. Graham said in an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” that he is willing to subpoena Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe to answer questions about an alleged discussion to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump from office. McCabe claims that Rosenstein brought up the idea of using the Constitution to remove Trump during a meeting of FBI and Justice Department officials on May 16, 2017, around a week after Trump fired scumbag-James Comey as FBI director. The 25th Amendment allows a majority of cabinet members to remove a sitting president. “We’re a democracy. People enforce the law — can’t take it into their own hands. And was this an attempted bureaucratic coup? I don’t know,” said Graham. “So I promise your viewers the following: that we will have a hearing about who’s telling the truth, what actually happened,” the South Carolina Republican added, noting that McCabe was fired from the FBI for making false statements about leaks he authorized to the media...   https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/17/lindsey-graham-subpoena-mccabe-rosenstein/?utm_medium=email

{dailycaller.com} ~ The Washington Post’s fact-check of Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s signature Green New Deal legislation needs a fact-check of its own... The roll-out of the plan to deindustrialize the U.S. within a 10-year timeframe was a complete disaster. It began with the release of a FAQ sheet riddled with typos, grammatical errors, and radical statements about banning fossil fuels and nuclear power, making car and air travel obsolete, and getting rid of flatulent cows. The plan would require upgrading or replacing every building in the country, and provide taxpayer-funded economic security for those “unwilling to work.” It promises all Americans will have “access to nature,” whatever that means. The plan strives to achieve “net-zero” carbon emissions in ten years. Why not zero? According to the FAQ sheet, because they “aren’t sure that we’ll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast.” Rep. commie-Ocasio-Cortez immediately tried to downplay the FAQ sheet after facing merciless ridicule on social media...  https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/14/wall-washington-post/

{townhall.com} ~ My first reaction upon hearing that hundreds of leaders in the Southern Baptist church had sexually abused as many as 700 people in 400 churches, including victims as young as 3, was "how could they?" It was the same reaction I had when news of predatory priests in the Roman Catholic Church, and the cover-up that followed the sexual abuse allegations, surfaced.

I have belonged to Southern Baptist churches in the past, so I know something about their proud "independent" status. Some critics have said it is the lack of a central authority in these churches that contributed to failed oversight. The Catholic Church has a central authority. How do you explain its oversight structure?

The reporting by the Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News and The Washington Post should turn any stomach. Most Baptists have had children in their Sunday school programs. What must they be thinking as they ponder whether to ask their child, who by now might be a teen or an adult, if they had ever been abused by a teacher, pastor or counselor?

The Washington Post reports: "...instead of ensuring that sexual predators were kept at bay, the Southern Baptist Convention, resisted policy changes. ...Victims accused church leaders of mishandling their complaints, even hiding them from the public."

The Post notes that while a majority of abusers have been convicted and are now registered as sex offenders, "the investigation found that at least three dozen pastors, employees and volunteers who showed predatory behavior still worked at churches."

One explanation for such behavior -- it's not the only one -- appeared in a 2018 article in Christianity Today magazine: "Most pastors have struggled with porn."

That's according to an online study of nearly 3,000 adults, teenagers and pastors by the Barna Group. The study included 432 pastors and 338 youth pastors, and was commissioned by Josh McDowell Ministry and Cru formerly known as Campus Crusade for Christ.

J.D. Greear, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation's largest Protestant denomination, tweeted, "We must admit that our failures, as churches, put these survivors in a position where they were forced to stand alone and speak, when we should have been fighting for them."

There are at least two other considerations the denomination must address. It is likely that many abuse victims will not only leave their churches, as many Catholics have done, but possibly abandon their faith altogether. If this is what God allows, they might say, I want nothing to do with Him.

The other thought is a warning. While most people probably think they are above such sin, consider the words of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah, whose diagnosis of the potential for evil is that it resides at some level in all of us and that we cannot say for certain what we would do given the circumstances: "The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? (Jeremiah 17:9, NLT)

Southern Baptist churches may wish to ponder and deliver a series of sermons on the meaning of these additional words from Jeremiah: "What sorrow awaits the leaders of my people -- the shepherds of my sheep -- for they have destroyed and scattered the very ones they were expected to care for, says the Lord." (Jeremiah 23:1, NLT).

You don’t have to imagine it…it happened.

Just six years ago, Nancy Pelosi supported the building of 700 miles of border wall, and she was not alone. Far from it in fact.

Back then, congressional democrats were nearly unanimous in their support of such a wall.

Six short years ago, while Hussein Obama occupied the Oval Office, no less than Chuckles Schumer and Dickie Durbin had THIS to say regarding 700 miles of border wall…“Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary [of Homeland Security] shall establish . . . the ‘Southern Border Fencing Strategy,’ to identify where 700 miles of fencing (including double-layer fencing) . . . should be deployed along the Southern border.”

That was in relation to the Gang of 8 bill which also made something else quite clear…

{foxnews.com} ~ State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert withdrew her name from consideration for the U.N. ambassador nomination, the department said Saturday... “I am grateful to President Trump and Secretary Mike Pompeo for the trust they placed in me for considering me for the position of U.S. ambassador to the United Nations," Nauer said in the statement. "However, the past two months have been grueling for my family and therefore it is in the best interest of my family that I withdraw my name from consideration. She went on to describe her time working in the administration as being "one of the highest honors of my life." A State Department source told Fox News that the process, on top of traveling around the world and between Washington D.C., and New York to see family, grew to be too much. Trump -- who picked Nauert to succeed Ambassador Nikki Haley in December -- will make an announcement "soon" about a nominee for the position, the State Department said...

{theconservativetreehouse.com} ~ Every element of global economic trade is controlled and exploited by massive institutions, multinational banks and multinational corporations. Institutions like the World Trade Organization (WTO), World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF)... control trillions of dollars in economic activity. Underneath that economic activity there are people who hold the reigns of power over the outcomes. These individuals and groups are the stakeholders in direct opposition to principles of America-First national economics. The modern financial constructs of these entities have been established over the course of the past three decades. When you understand how they manipulate the economic system of individual nations you begin to understand understand why they are so fundamentally opposed to President Trump. In the Western World, separate from communist control perspectives ie. China, “Global markets” are a modern myth; nothing more than a talking point meant to keep people satiated with sound bites they might find familiar; but the truth is ‘global markets‘ have been destroyed over the past three decades by multinational corporations who control the products formerly contained within global markets. The same is true for “Commodities Markets“. The multinational trade and economic system, run by corporations and multinational banks, now controls the product outputs of independent nations. The free market economic system has been usurped by entities who create what is best described as ‘controlled markets’... https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2019/02/16/president-trump-is-slowly-stopping-the-exfiltration-of-american-wealth/

{theconservativetreehouse.com} ~ President Trump has structured a plan to break down the multinational trade interests, and their “controlled markets.”  Step-by-step President Trump is executing this plan... while his opposition, including Mitch McConnell, tries to stop him. President Trump is disrupting decades of multinational financial interests who use the U.S. as a host for their ideological endeavors. President Trump is confronting multinational corporations and the global constructs of economic systems that were put in place to the detriment of the host; the American Middle-Class. There are trillions at stake; it is all about the economics; all else is chaff and countermeasures. Familiar faces, perhaps faces you previously thought were decent, are now revealing their alignment with larger entities that are our abusers. In an effort to awaken the victim to the cycle of self-destructive codependent behavior, allow me to cue a visual example from U.S. Senator John Thune. What South Dakota Senator John Thune is showcasing here is his full alignment with big multinational corporate agriculture BIG AG. Big AG is not supporting local farmers. Big AG does not support “free and fair markets.” Big AG supports the interests of multinational corporations and multinational financial interests...  https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2019/02/16/there-are-trillions-at-stake/

{conventionofstates.com} ~ After six years of dedicated work by our Convention of States supporters and leaders, we have passed both legislative bodies in Arkansas. Arkansas is now the 13th State to pass the Article V resolution... to rein in the federal government and give the power back to the people. The road was very hard and politically challenging for our legislators and supporters. Our leadership over a 6-year period changed many times. We had four State Directors and many district captains leave the organization causing the movement to slow drastically many times. However, a corps of dedicated patriots kept the momentum going which was a deciding factor in growing the grassroots army necessary to convince the legislators that “We the People” in Arkansas have the power.  We grew from 1200 supporters in 2015 to over 17,000 in 2019, which was the determining factor to get the resolution passed. To make it over the finish line this year, Regional and District Captains performed hand written letter parties all over the state and we delivered them directly to the legislators. We also provided the legislators more hand-written letters and a printout list of their supporters in the chamber while they were voting on the resolution. We used a state slogan during presentations and meetings: "They knew it then, so we could do something now.” The Founders created and built a country based on biblical principles and the inalienable rights give to us by God. They gave us the Convention of States option in Article V of the Constitution to use in times like these, and we called attention to this fact to  reach patriotic Arkansas residents and combat misinformation by those opposed to the Founders' solution...

{townhall.com} ~ While the public discourse has been consumed over the realization that abortion physicians actually let viable babies who survive late-term abortions die -- as well as whether President Donald Trump or House Speaker Nancy Pulosi will blink first over the issue of congressional authorization for building a wall at the country's southern border, to say nothing of the race- and sex-infused mess at the top of the government in Virginia -- a profound free speech issue has been bubbling below the radar.

A former White House communications aide and former Trump campaign adviser who has written a blistering tell-all book about the Trump White House now finds himself in litigation about whether he can freely publish his book -- which he has already done -- and freely profit from it.

The former Trump friend and colleague is Cliff Sims, and his book is called "Team of Vipers." It makes Chris Christie's book about his bitter experiences with those around the president look as if it were written by Mother Teresa by comparison. The president and his folks, who knew of the book before it was published, apparently bristled at the stories related and allegations contained and opinions expressed in it.

This is an unhappy tale, not with regard to accuracy or fairness in reporting but with regard to the doctrine of fair comment and the natural and constitutional right to the freedom of speech. Here is the back story.

When Sims began his time as an official of the Trump campaign, he signed a nondisclosure agreement, or NDA. NDAs typically bar the revelation of information gathered during one's employment. They were nearly universal in the Trump campaign.

Sims' NDA also provided that if there was any dispute between him and the campaign over the meaning of the NDA or whether he or the campaign violated it, that dispute would be resolved in secret arbitration, not in a public courtroom in front of a judge and jury. The NDA further provided for liquidated damages -- a pre-agreed-upon amount of money that Sims would owe to the campaign if arbitrators found that he violated the NDA.

What about the freedom of speech and the right to a fair trial? The theory of an NDA is that the signer has knowingly waived those rights in return for the employment contemplated by the NDA. This is a quid pro quo. You get hired at a job you want; you get the pay and perks you sought; you agree to keep silent the secrets you learn. And if there is a dispute about what you can say and to whom you can say it, the dispute itself will be resolved in secret because you agreed to that in the NDA. If the arbitrators find that you violated the NDA, you owe a certain amount of money to the other party -- in this case, $10 million to the Trump campaign -- whether you caused damages in that amount or not.

That is at least the theory of how these NDAs are supposed to work. The courts do not favor these agreements, because they often stifle free speech -- and often it is speech in which there is a material and serious public interest. Yet as they are between private parties, NDAs are enforceable.

In this case, the speech is about Trump -- not as a candidate but as the president. So after Sims' book was published and after the folks in the West Wing, where he worked for a year, read what he wrote, the Trump campaign -- it still has a skeleton staff and lawyers on the payroll -- filed a complaint with the designated arbitration entity, demanding the liquidated damages of $10 million.

Then Sims' lawyers filed a complaint in federal district court, asking a judge to enjoin the arbitration proceeding because what Sims' wrote he learned about while working for the government, not on the campaign. The campaign will no doubt point to an NDA it claims Sims signed when he began his tenure in the West Wing and argue that it applies as effectively as the NDA he signed for the campaign. Sims recalls no NDA at the White House.

Here is the problem for Trump. The campaign is not subject to the First Amendment, but the White House clearly is. Even if Sims did sign an NDA at the White House, the First Amendment bars the government from enforcing it, and several federal statutes protect whistleblowers, no matter what they agreed not to say at the outset of their work, unless it is classified material being protected. In the West Wing, Sims worked for the federal government, not Donald Trump personally and not the campaign.

Can the government punish speech of someone who agreed to remain silent? In a word: No. It cannot deter speech, and it cannot chill speech. Chilling takes place when government behavior is so oppressive that the potential speaker is afraid to speak about what he knows.

And if the speech is comment about public people or public policy, it is protected by the doctrine of fair comment. That is a Supreme Court rubric underscoring the truism that the whole purpose of the First Amendment is to protect and encourage open, wide, robust speech about the government -- speech that sheds light on dark government corners, speech that is unafraid of and immune from the slightest whiff of government redress, speech that can be harsh in tone and discomfiting in delivery.

It is that brand of public free speech that the Framers intended to protect by the First Amendment. As one of President Trump's no-holds-barred predecessors famously said, "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."

If presidents can use legal artifices to punish the speech they hate and fear, they are no longer presidents in a free society. They are princes in an empire.

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ House Democratic committee leaders have consulted with the chamber's general counsel to discuss legal options of forcing President Trump to reveal details of his private conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin... according to a report Saturday. Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff of California, the Intelligence Committee chairman, and Rep. Eliot Engel of New York, the Foreign Affairs Committee chairman, said they have asked House General Counsel Douglas Letter about how to compel the Trump administration to provide documents or other information related to the meetings. The Democrats, Politico reported, are considering all options, including issuing subpoenas. “I had a meeting with the general counsel to discuss this and determine the best way to find out what took place in those private meetings — whether it’s by seeking the interpreter’s testimony, the interpreter’s notes, or other means,” scumbag-Schiff said. scumbag- Schiff is referring to Marina Gross, the State Department translator who was the only other American present for a Trump-Putin meeting last July in Helsinki. Democrats are particularly interested in that meeting, after which the two leaders held a chummy joint press conference where Trump cast doubt that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election. Republicans in Congress condemned Trump’s performance. He mostly blamed the U.S. for Washington’s troubled relationship with Russia. Trump has previously said he "couldn't care less" if the details of his conversation with Putin in Helsinki were made public.  Get anything on Trump to remove him from the presidency.

{townhall.com} ~ Here is the problem for Trump critics. They began with the wrong premise. They believed that scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton should have won the 2016 presidential election... Then they deluded themselves by embracing the notion that Trump was illegitimate, unstable, stupid and an offense to everything they consider normal. This led the scumbag/liar-nObama holdovers in the Justice Department and the major media to construct a Russian collusion scenario, based on evidence they had to know is false. These included Andrew McCabe, the former deputy director of the FBI, who was fired for lying to government investigators. In his new book and in a "60 Minutes" interview Sunday night, McCabe admits he was part of a coup attempt to remove Trump from office, using the 25th Amendment as the means. McCabe said that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was not joking, as Rosenstein claims he was, about wearing a wire, hoping the president would say outrageous things Rosenstein could take to the vice president and the cabinet to convince them that Trump was unfit to hold public office. There's your real collusion and also a conspiracy to oust a duly elected president. On his radio program last Thursday, Rush Limbaugh said he thinks the entire Russian collusion investigation is a waste of taxpayer money and has come to nothing. About McCabe, he said: "He is bragging about his efforts to undermine and overthrow Trump. He's admitting, essentially, that he and his buddies put in motion a silent coup to get rid of Donald Trump. He admits that the talk of wiring Rosenstein to entrap Trump in an Oval Office conversation was real."...

{washingtonexaminer.com} ~ When someone says, "I'm a glass half-full person," that means he or she tries to look on the positive side of any situation, even if the reality is mixed. In the case of border security and the spending bill passed by Congress... it would be hard, from the administration's point of view, to call it a "glass half-full" result, given that President Trump won just $1.375 billion of the $5.7 billion he asked Congress to appropriate for a border barrier. On the other hand, Trump emerged from the negotiations having made significant progress — even before considering his declaration of a national emergency. For Trump, the glass is a quarter-full, and maybe more, if he moves thoughtfully in coming months. The first positive note is that the president got anything at all for a barrier. Remember that the Democratic position, expressed repeatedly by Speaker of the House Nancy Pulosi, was that Trump would get nothing for a barrier — and by "nothing," Democrats meant "nothing." That is precisely what the president got in the measure to end the government shutdown. Pulosi even famously declared Trump's wall proposal "immoral." In the end, though, the Democratic House approved — with 300 votes, including Pulosi's — enough money to build 55 miles of the president's proposed barrier. So now, after vowing to provide nothing for the barrier, Pulosi has now given her approval to 55 miles of immorality. No, it is not what the president wanted, but even those 55 miles, combined with the roughly 125 miles of inadequate, dilapidated old fence that the administration is already replacing with new barrier, are a net plus for border security...   https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columnists/byron-york-a-glass-quarter-full-reading-of-trumps-border-deal?utm_source=WEX_News%20Brief_02/16/2019&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_News%20Brief

by timesofisrael.com:   Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif confirmed that Tehran attempted a second satellite launch earlier this month despite US criticism that its space program is helping to develop ballistic missiles... In an interview with NBC news  screened Friday, Zarif said it was “quite possible” the United States was sabotaging the Iranian space program. “We don’t know yet,” he said. “We need to look into it very carefully.” Zarif said Tehran was already investigating the failed satellite launches in January and February, but was now “looking into the specifics” of a sabotage campaign following a report in The New York Times this week. Current and former US officials told the Times the Trump administration had accelerated a George W. Bush-era program to sabotage Iran’s development of rockets and missiles...

{patriotnewsalerts.com} ~ Rep. scumbag-Adam Schiff (D-CA) denounced President Donald Trump’s Thursday decision to declare a national emergency to fund what the House leader says is “a wall we don’t need, to address a crisis that doesn’t exist.”... But recent high-profile murders involving illegal immigrants, particularly the killings of four people in Nevada, highlight the real need for better security. The illegally-present suspect in the Nevada case will be tried immediately for the murders of two women and an elderly couple during the first weeks of 2019. Prosecutors  agreed to break with legal procedure by trying 20-year-old Wilber Martinez-Guzman with four counts of murder in Reno before prosecuting the Salvadoran national with burglary and other related charges in Carson City, where he was arrested. “Generally, the jurisdiction that catches a defendant proceeds with its prosecution first,” explained Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury. “When we have a way to make the process a little easier on people victimized by a crime, and when those people tell us they want the murder case to go first, we absolutely listen and do our best to honor those wishes,” he said. The killings started in Gardnerville, 50 miles outside of Reno, when 56-year-old Connie Koontz was discovered dead in her home on Jan. 10. Days later, on Jan. 13,  Sophia Renken was found dead in her home under similar circumstances...  https://www.patriotnewsalerts.com/illegal-murders-nevada-border/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=dc-1

Is evil-Cuomo Digging His Own Political Grave?

by Jordan Candler:  There is noteworthy disfavor in New York stemming from Gov. Andrew evil-Cuomo’s preoccupation with late-term abortion. Current polling shows that his approval rating is at a career-low 43% — a month-over-month drop of eight percentage points. Even worse, his “excellent” or “good” performance evaluation is at a paltry 35%, whereas 64% of respondents define his performance as “fair” or “poor.”

Cuomo has been governor of New York since 2011, and in the years since he’s become increasingly emboldened to force his extreme leftist ideology on the state and inspire it elsewhere. This culminated in his recent signing of a bill that not only authorizes but encourages late-term abortions. His polling slump most assuredly isn’t coincidental.

We know this because even most pro-choice advocates have a limit. YouGov/Americans United for Life has published new survey results on the matter. Sixty-eight percent of this group take issue with abortions within a day of birth, and a similar 66% assail third-trimester abortions in general. Moreover, of this same group, 77% agree with medically protecting viable children.

evil-Cuomo dug thousands upon thousands of additional graves when he signed New York’s late-term abortion law. But he’s possibly also dug himself his own political grave — and nobody should lament his downfall assuming it ever happens.  ~The Patriot Post

Bob Menendez Claims Trump is a Russian Agent
by Peter Hasson
{dailycaller.com} ~ Democratic New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez made the extraordinary claim Thursday that President Donald Trump could be “an agent of the Russian Federation.”... Menendez claimed the fact that Trump hasn’t released his tax returns and isn’t more publicly critical of Russian President Vladimir Putin could be signs that the president is compromised. “I’m talking about the entirely legitimate question of whether Donald Trump could be compromised by the Russian government,” Menendez said in prepared remarks on the Senate floor. “It’s more than a legitimate question. It’s the natural question that comes to mind every time we learn more about the links between President Trump, his associates and the Russian government,” he said.... Menendez is nuts. Why didn't he claim that to scumbag/liar-nObama.  https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/14/bob-menendez-trump-russia/

by wnd.com:   Government watchdog Judicial Watch revealed Friday it has obtained another 186 pages of documentation from the Justice Department regarding scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, and they show evidence of a cover-up of an FBI chart of possible violations by her... “Judicial Watch caught the FBI in another cover-up to protect scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton,” said the organization’s president, Tom Fitton. “These records show that the FBI is hiding a chart detailing possible violations of the law by scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton and the supposed reasons she was not prosecuted.” Judicial Watch recently released hundreds of pages of records showing former FBI General Counsel James Baker discussed the investigation of scumbag/liar-Clinton-related emails on Anthony Weiner’s laptop with scumbag/liar-Clinton’s lawyer, David Kendall.  The latest cache of documents was obtained from the government through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed against the Department of Justice after it failed to respond to a 2017 FOIA request seeking all communications between fired FBI official Peter Strzok and his paramour, FBI lawyer Lisa Page. It was District Judge Reggie B. Walton who ordered the FBI to begin processing some 13,000 pages of records that fall under the order. Judicial Watch found, three days after then-FBI Director scumbag-James Comey’s press conference announcing that he would not recommend a prosecution of scumbag/liar-Clinton, a July 8, 2016, an email chain showing that the special counsel to the FBI’s executive assistant director in charge of the National Security Branch told Strzok he was making a “chart of the statutory violations considered during the investigation of scumbag/liar-Clinton’s private email system, and the reasons for the recommendation not to prosecute.”...

{pjmedia.com} ~ An ISIS-supporting group posted an image online depicting an explosion at the top of the third-tallest office tower in downtown  Los Angeles. Though ISIS backers operating under a number of media alliances regularly craft and circulate threats and recruitment propaganda... in the form of posters and video, Los Angeles is rarely featured as a target. The online jihadists trend toward threatening New York, Washington, Las Vegas, and large European cities. The new image shows a camouflage-clad jihadist holding an ISIS flag with the evening L.A. skyline in the background and the glow of flames photoshopped coming from the hillside beneath his feet. An explosion is photoshopped onto the top of the Aon Center, the 62-story tower at 707 Wilshire Blvd. in the city's financial district. The original photo used appears to be from Shutterstock. The words above the image: "Our promise will soon be fulfilled." The city of Los Angeles routinely reminds residents that landmarks and transportation hubs -- such as Los Angeles International Airport, targeted in a foiled 2000 al-Qaeda plot -- are potential terrorist targets. Terror groups have always routinely complained about products from Hollywood making their way into popular culture in Muslim-majority nations. The U.S. Bank Tower, which is the second-tallest building in L.A., was discussed as a potential target by Osama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in 1999 as they planned the 9/11 attacks. In 2006, President George W. Bush said that Mohammed, in October 2001, "had already set in motion a plan to have terrorist operatives hijack an airplane using shoe bombs to breach the cockpit door, and fly the plane into the tallest building on the West Coast" -- at the time, the U.S. Bank Tower, then known as Library Tower...  https://pjmedia.com/homeland-security/l-a-skyscraper-shown-exploding-in-new-isis-promise-fulfilled-threat/?utm_source=PJMCoffeeBreak&utm_medium=email&utm_term=February2019

“Onward Together”: Inside scumbag/liar-Hillary’s Latest Political Tax Scandal

{thewashingtonstandard.com} ~ Most people are aware that “Onward Together” is a political organization to raise funds for the Democratic party, but what they don’t realize, is the fact that this tax-exempt 501(c)(4) is operating ILLEGALLY, on multiple levels... IRS laws, FEC documents, and Onward Together’s tax return  create one heck of a recipe, burning for an investigation. Not only does Onward Together require scrutiny, its partner organizations need a closer look as well. Perhaps “Back Together” would have been more apropos, since scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton got the band back together to form this tax-exempt political scandal. Even Huma Abedin is on the payroll. What’s most interesting is that the DNC paid nearly $2 million to Onward Together for donor list rental/acquisition produced by scumbag/liarHillary for America, while the DCCC paid more than $700,000 for the same list. Sure, politicians often sell “donor lists”, but Onward Together is not allowed to declare the payment as tax-exempt “royalty income,” nor does this political activity align with the lawful purpose of 501(c)(4) organizations. But it gets worse. In order to avoid unrelated business income taxes, some exempt organizations have attempted to classify, as royalties, payments that are in fact fees for services. The IRS, however, ignores contractual nomenclature and looks to the true nature of such transactions. For example, royalties were ruled not to include payments for personal appearances (Rev. Rul. 81-178, 1981-2 C.B. 135) or receipts from the rental of donor lists  Disabled American Veterans v. United States, 650 F.2d 1178 (Ct. Cl. 1981. Additionally, if the exempt organization maintains control over or liability for the commercial enterprise, the royalty exclusion will likely be denied. Thus, payments derived from a license of property under which an exempt organization was liable for some development and operational costs were treated as unrelated income. (Rev. Rul. 69-179, 1969-1 C.B. 158)...

Taxes on Tippy Tippy Top
by Chris Edwards

{cato.org} ~ U.S. Senator Elizabeth dinky-Warren told CNBC the other day: “I want these billionaires to stop being freeloaders … I want them to pick up their fair share.” Are billionaires freeloaders?...
To get an idea, we can look at IRS data on the Top 400 taxpayers in the nation with the highest incomes. The Top 400 paid $29.4 billion in federal income taxes in 2014, an average of $74 million each. These “freeloaders” together paid enough to more than fund the budgets of NASA and the EPA that year ($26 billion). The Top 400 paid 2.13 percent of all federal income taxes in 2014. That share has trended upwards over time, as shown in the chart. Indeed, the Top 400 share of taxes has doubled from 1.04 percent in 1992, which is the first year of IRS data. This top group is just 0.0003 percent of all taxpayers yet paid 2.13 percent of all income taxes. Rather than freeloading, it seems that this “tippy tippy top” group, as dinky-Warren calls it, is paying more than its fair share...

Lost, Buried, Burned: Oklahoma's
Rape Kit Scandal

by Michelle Malkin

{townhall.com} ~ If you are puzzled by the nationwide rape kit testing backlog, Oklahoma provides maddening insight on the bureaucratic forces that create intolerable inertia -- and injustice.

An estimated 225,000 rape kits have gone unprocessed across the country; more than 7,200 have been neglected in Oklahoma. Last month, a woman who reported an Oklahoma City sexual assault to police back in 2011 discovered that her rape kit had gathered dust on a shelf in Tulsa's police department for seven years -- after the Oklahoma County district attorney had informed her he was dropping the case because no rape kit existed.

Police, prosecutors and politicians do not have a sense of urgency about the issue. Why? My ongoing investigation shows that status quo obstructionists don't want to clear the backlog because they don't want the public poking around government-run crime labs -- especially ones with a shameful history of forensic misconduct and a culture of destruction.

Solving the rape kit testing problem requires accountability and transparency. That means shedding light on long-buried secrets that go well beyond the usual incompetence and inattention that have led to backlogs. It's not just rape victims who suffer when criminal justice agencies shut out the public. It's criminal defendants trying to prove their innocence against charges of sexual crimes.

Consider Rayshun Mullins, who petitioned the state of Oklahoma three times for post-conviction testing of DNA evidence used against him in 2009. The Sooner State was last in the nation to adopt a post-conviction DNA testing statute in 2013. Three times he was denied. Why? Shockingly, dozens and dozens of crucial forensic items in Mullins' case have been destroyed or "lost."

Gone. Poof. Disappeared.

Oklahoma requires that criminal justice agencies "retain and preserve" biological evidence for as long as a person convicted of a violent felony offense is incarcerated. Mullins certainly meets that criteria: He is serving a whopping 1,015 years plus six consecutive life terms behind bars for multiple rapes and robberies.

There is an exception allowing destruction of biological evidence if a criminal defendant is notified in advance and given 90 days to object. But as Mullins revealed to me last week:

"They never told me that they would destroy them. I found out when I got them papers."

The papers are part of an inventory compiled by the Oklahoma County district attorney's office, which I obtained exclusively. Among the destroyed or lost pieces of evidence in Mullins' case:

--34 items collected in one victim's case, including SANE/Rape kit, clothes, buccal swabs taken from the cheek for DNA, sheets, cuttings and sexual assault trace evidence from the victim and Mullins, which were all "destroyed in 2013."

--A second victim's purse, photographs, check card, calendar book, checks and papers, which were released to Oklahoma City Det. Kim Davis. According to the documents, "their current location is unknown." Davis claimed D.A. David Prater's office had them. The D.A.'s office denies having them after a "thorough investigation."

--A third victim's swabs and trace lifters, which "were destroyed in 2013."

--A fourth victim's SANE/rape kit, swabs, buccal swabs, clothes, bedding, swabs of persons of interest, Mullins' swabs and buccal swabs, which were all "destroyed in 2013."

--A fifth victim's SANE/Rape kit, clothing, toilet paper, bedding, disc containing photographs and fingerprint cards, which were all destroyed on an unknown date.

The Oklahoma City forensic analyst responsible for analyzing evidence in Mullins' case is former crime lab employee Elaine Taylor. She is the same analyst who confessed to her OCPD supervisor Byron Boshell back in 2000 that she destroyed untold numbers of rape kits after two years at the behest of her colleague and infamous OCPD rogue chemist Joyce Gilchrist who said she was authorized to destroy evidence by former D.A. Bob Macy because "the only thing I could do was follow her orders or else pay the consequences."

Taylor was conducting tests on rape kit evidence in Mullins' case less than three years after this shocking admission. It is unknown for how long and in how many other cases this routine evidence destruction continued. What is known: Gilchrist facilitated several wrongful convictions including two exonerated death row inmates over more than a decade by falsifying blood evidence, destroying human hair evidence, concocting junk science testimony on dog hair, and lying about and destroyed semen evidence while Taylor worked under her.

Taylor is also the analyst at the center of former OCPD officer Daniel Holtzclaw's wrongful conviction, which he is appealing. Six internationally renowned scientists called for a retrial after examining Taylor's faulty work on the case. Like Mullins, Holtzclaw was charged with serial rape. Like Mullins, Holtzclaw was investigated by sex crimes Det. Kim Davis, who worked closely with Taylor for nearly 20 years.

At a recent deposition in federal lawsuits against Holtzclaw, who is represented in the civil litigation by famed exoneration attorney Kathleen Zellner, Taylor admitted she personally witnessed boxes of evidence from sex crimes, homicide and other cases being burned and shoved "in a big ole hole" down by the Oklahoma City river.

Moreover, Taylor contradicted her trial testimony, admitted the Holtzclaw forensic evidence could have been contaminated by her son-in-law and co-lead Det. Rocky Gregory, and admitted to being involved in at least six other contamination cases which Oklahoma officials, who held illegal secret hearings on Taylor's work, refuse to disclose to the public.

Lost, burned, buried, tainted: This is an alarming crisis, whether you are a rape survivor, criminal justice reformer, forensic scientist or taxpayer. And I'm certain it's not just an Oklahoma problem. Peel the layers of government intransigence enveloping a rape kit backlog and underneath you'll find much more than criminal neglect.

by Media Editors:  Eighteen million views. That’s what the Washington Examiner says has been accrued by “a video of actress Ellen Page blaming President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence for the alleged assault on ‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett.” There’s just one huge problem: “The number takes on new significance … as new reports says two brothers told authorities that Smollett allegedly paid them to stage the attack.” But despite the media’s cursory and knee-jerk reporting, don’t expect any major concessions. Even House Speaker Nancy Pulosi deleted a sympathetic tweet without so much as an acknowledgment or apology.
.
Tone deaf: “Speaking on German soil 75 years after the U.S. and its allies prepared for D-Day, loose lips-Joe Biden described America as ‘an embarrassment’ and its trade policies ‘self-defeating.’ … The former vice president was speaking exactly three-quarters of a century after American troops were fighting against Germans at the Battle of Anzio and Allied military staffs were deep into planning for the D-Day invasion of Normandy less than 4 months later.” (Washington Examiner)
.
Democrats were expeditious in instigating border-barrier lawsuits. According to USA Today, “At least two lawsuits have been filed in response to President Donald Trump on Friday declaring a national emergency to secure funding for a wall along the southern border with Mexico. The filings are expected to be part of a flurry of legal challenges to the constitutionality of Trump’s decision.” Legal challenges are also anticipated to come from citizens themselves. As Bloomberg reports, “Some landowners along the U.S.-Mexico line say they see a government land grab in their future.” But Trump senior adviser Stephen Miller this weekend pointed out, “This is a threat in our country, not overseas. And if the president can’t defend this country, then he cannot fulfill his constitutional oath of office.”
.
“President Trump’s pick to be the next United Nations ambassador withdrew from consideration Saturday, the State Department said. The department’s spokeswoman, Heather Nauert, had been tapped to succeed Nikki Haley at the United Nations, but her name was never formally sent to the Senate for confirmation. … The withdrawal is related to the employment of a nanny who was in the country illegally. … But according to a person familiar with Nauert’s situation, the nanny was in the country legally. She was a Jamaican national employed by Nauert and her husband 10 years ago.” (The Washington Post)
.
According to Fox News, “More men and boys from a Somali American community in Minneapolis have joined — or attempted to join — a foreign terrorist organization over the last 12 years than any other jurisdiction in the country. … So what has made the area such a hotbed for such activity? And what has been Rep. Ilhan Omar’s record in addressing the issue — either before she was elected, or since? The answers matter because federal authorities say they remain ‘highly concerned’ about the terrorist connection with the Minneapolis Somalis.” Omar’s anti-Semitism could be emblematic of an even bigger problem.
.
Too long coming: “Disgraced ex-cardinal Theodore McCarrick has been expelled from the Roman Catholic priesthood after an investigation found sex abuse allegations against him were credible, the Vatican said Saturday. The church is penalizing McCarrick, the former Archbishop of Washington, D.C., and Newark, New Jersey, with ‘dismissal from the clerical state,’ it said in a statement. He will not be able to appeal the decision.” (NBC News)
.
A majority of Californians are inclined to put down roots elsewhere, new polling reveals. The catalyst is cost of living, which is particularly pronounced in San Fransisco. Perhaps voters should revisit partitioning the state.
.
Civics testing in the U.S. is less than mediocre. According to the Washington Examiner, “A majority in every state except Vermont has failed the U.S. Citizenship test, the latest sign that Americans aren’t very good history students. … More than half of those in every other state failed, and in Washington, D.C., 58 percent failed, said the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, which does the survey. Only one-in-four nationally passed the 20-questions.” This shouldn’t surprise us, though. Schools are more interested in “diversifying” restrooms and locker rooms than they are in fostering education.
.
A tragic mass shooting occurred Friday in Aurora, Illinois, where five innocent lives were taken and police officers were injured. But like many mass shootings, it could have been prevented via existing laws. Townhall reports that the shooter “purchased a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun in 2014 but was later discovered to have been convicted of an aggravated assault charge back in 1995 when he tried to apply for a concealed carry permit. As a result, he should have turned his firearm over to authorities. He didn’t.”
.
Having your cake and eating it too: “The NFL and lawyers for players Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid jointly announced Friday that they had settled a complaint of collusion by the players, who claimed football team owners blackballed them,” CNBC reports. According to The Daily Wire, “All parties are prevented from revealing details of the settlement, by the settlement’s terms, but various news reports put the settlement between $60 million and $80 million split between the two players.” Furthermore, “Kaepernick’s attorney … told ESPN that he predicts Kaepernick will now be welcomed into the league with open arms.” On the contrary, why would any team want such a toxic charlatan?

Krumholz
{thefederalist.com} ~ If Washington, D.C. were a better place, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe would be swiftly run out of town. He was fired last year for lying to the FBI’s inspector general at least four times... regarding serious questions about multiple abuses that occurred while McCabe sat in a powerful and unelected office. These abuses included working with former FBI director scumbag-James Comey to set up former White House chief of staff Reince Priebus for obstruction charges, slow-walking and sabotaging the investigation of yet unseen scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton  emails found on Anthony Weiner’s computer just before the 2016 election, and failing to report a clear conflict of interest where his wife received a political donation from a close scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton ally while he was tasked with investigating scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton. Among other things, McCabe also took part in spying on the Trump campaign through a secret warrant granted by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance (FISA) court. This spying allowed obedient anti-Trump media figures to report, right before the 2016 election, that the FBI was investigating President Trump—which legitimized the scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton campaign’s talking points about Trump and Russia. Thankfully, although the establishment media cheers McCabe, he may yet face legal trouble as a result of his actions. So to save his skin, and sell his new book to help pay the lawyers—titled “The Threat: How the F.B.I. Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump”—McCabe is on the media circuit...

{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ "Violence-promoting Islamist extremism currently constitutes the biggest threat to Sweden," according to a January 15 press release from the Swedish Security Service (Säpo)... "The level of the terror threat remains elevated, a three on a five-point scale. This means that a terrorist act is likely to occur," said  Klas Friberg, head of Säpo. "In order to meet the threat from terrorism, the Security Service will in future work even more strategically to limit the growth of extremist environments. It may be about dealing with omhänderta persons who constitute a security threat or, in cooperation with other authorities, working harder to ensure that these individuals are prosecuted for other crimes - or have their opportunities cut." While Säpo  is assuring the Swedish public that it will do "even more" to limit the growth of terrorist environments in Sweden, the Swedish government is exacerbating the problem by welcoming returning ISIS fighters back into the country. Approximately 300 people left Sweden to fight for ISIS and it is estimated that approximately 150 Swedish ISIS fighters have returned to Sweden. Approximately 50 of those who didn't return were killed. The head of Säpo, in January, had  described returning ISIS fighters as "broken people who have been traumatized by their experiences" and said that Swedish society has to "play a big role in re-integrating them"...

by orlandosentinel.com:  The Florida Supreme Court is warning about email scams by fraudsters who use fake court letterhead to bilk people out of money. The scams involve fake inheritances or the paying off legal “debts”... of someone who purports to be interested in an online romance, according to a news release issued Wednesday by court spokesman Craig Waters. The ploys are the latest in a string of court-related online or telephone scams. Other deceptions include targeting Spanish-speaking people with threats of deportation, professionals over licensing issues or members of the public for allegedly missing jury duty, according to Waters. Similar scams, which Waters said “have become a significant problem” in recent years, often mention locations in Northwest Florida, such as Shalimar and Gulf Breeze. Many of the potential victims live outside the U.S. and aren’t familiar with Florida law, according to Waters. But Florida courts “never send out real legal notices by email,” Waters cautioned. “If you get an email asking for money because of some court document or saying you violated a court order or other legal obligation, you should check further before taking any action,” he said. People seeking more information about potential scams can forward copies of the emails and attachments to supremecourt@flcourts.org...

Spending Bill Congress Just Passed Contains Restrictions Making It Almost Impossible
For Trump To Build Wall

by thewashingtonstandard.com:  On Wednesday, the House and the Senate both passed a massive 1,159 page spending bill that they were given less than 24 hours to read.  There was a concerted effort by the leadership of both parties to rush this bill through before the American people could be mobilized to oppose it... We are being told that this spending package represents a compromise, but as you will see below, the wording of the bill is so restrictive that it is going to make it just about impossible for President Trump to get anything built on the border. At this point, I think that Trump is counting on declaring a national emergency in order to get his wall built, but the moment he does that the Democrats plan to tie him up in court indefinitely. Before we get to the details of this bill, let’s talk about how ridiculous this legislative process has been. During her first term as speaker of the House, Nancy Pulosi often rushed through enormous pieces of legislation without giving anyone time to actually read what was in them, and now she is doing it again. This 1,159 page spending bill had an average of approximately 200 words per page, and as Breitbart has pointed out, a “fast reader” could get through such a document in about 40 hours. But members of Congress were not given 40 hours. Instead, they had the bill for about 18 hours before they were expected to vote on it. Needless to say, nobody that voted on this bill read the entire thing...

{thefederalistpapers.org} ~ Conservatives were outraged on Friday when they found that New York Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s boyfriend has an official government email address... Political consultant Luke Thompson was the first to discover the email and shared it on Twitter. “While you were having a nice Valentine’s Day, @AOC decided to put her boyfriend on staff – drawing a salary on the taxpayer’s dime. Nice to see her adapting to the swamp so quickly,” he said.“Actually this cal designation is a permission so he can have access to my Google Cal. Congressional spouses get Gcal access all the time. “Next time check your facts before you tweet nonsense,” she said. As The Daily Mail reported, her staff argued that this was common practice... It’s totally naive and inappropriate   https://https://thefederalistpapers.org/opinion/ocasio-cortez-caught-adding-boyfriend-staff-denying/opinion/ocasio-cortez-caught-adding-boyfriend-staff-denying

One of the most outrageous

by Stephen Carter

{jewishworldreview.com} ~ In my 30 years of writing about religious freedom, I can't recall a case as outrageous as the one decided last week by the U.S. Supreme Court. A Muslim inmate on death row had asked to spend his last moments in the comforting presence of an imam.

The Alabama prison offered only a Christian chaplain, and the justices, by a vote of 5 to 4, refused to order the state to do any more.

In its two-paragraph order, the majority quoted an earlier decision encouraging courts to take into account " the last-minute nature of an application" in deciding whether to put an execution on hold. Well, yes. The court should indeed consider whether a death-row inmate's petition might be no more than a frivolous effort to postpone the inevitable.

This isn't that. There can be, and is, a lot of debate about the right standards for judging a claim of religious freedom. But this should have been an easy decision.

Domineque Ray committed a horrible crime, raping and murdering a 15-year-old girl. If the death penalty is ever appropriate, this would seem to be a clear case. But the question before the court wasn't whether Ray should be put to death. It was whether he should be denied the same right that a Christian inmate would have to be accompanied in the death chamber by a cleric of his own faith.

In recent decades, the justices have turned out to be most receptive to First Amendment claims that can be framed as examples of discrimination. Consider, for example, the court's 1993 decision in Church of the Lukumi Babalu Aye v. City of Hialeah. The suit was brought by a Santeria congregation whose practices included animal sacrifice. In response to the concerns of residents, local officials outlawed the killing of animals within the city limits. The trouble was that the ordinance included so many exceptions that it wound up prohibiting little besides the practices of the plaintiff.

The Supreme Court had no trouble striking down the law, saying it violated " the principle that the First Amendment forbids an official purpose to disapprove of a particular religion or of religion in general." The ordinance, the justices concluded, violated the constitutional rule " that laws burdening religious practice must be of general applicability."

This is the problem with Alabama's death chamber practices: a lack of general applicability. As Justice Elena Kagan notes in her dissent, joined by justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer and Sonia Sotomayor, the discrimination in the state's policies is obvious: " A Christian prisoner may have a minister of his own faith accompany him into the execution chamber to say his last rites. But if an inmate practices a different religion — whether Islam, Judaism, or any other — he may not die with a minister of his own faith by his side."

This favoring of one religion over another is permissible only in the very narrowest of circumstances, writes Kagan. Here, the state argued that the presence of a cleric other than the Christian chaplain, a prison employee who understood the execution process, would pose a security risk. That's not a strong enough claim to get around the patent discrimination.

But even were there no discrimination at all, the denial of the presence of the imam would by itself present a strong case for judicial intervention in defense of religious liberty. Imagine a state rule that no clergy from any faith could enter the death chamber. I would argue that such a ban would itself be unconstitutional, for we are speaking here not of a prisoner's access to the holy books of his faith — the denial of which the courts have struck down even in cases where prison authorities concluded that the books were not religious at all — but of spiritual comfort at the moment of death.

No one who is now alive, it almost goes without saying, can truly know what death is like. What will we find on the other side? Many insist there will be only oblivion. Others are confident that they will step into paradise. Still others fear eternal punishment. Whatever may lie beyond the threshold, however, we surely commit a great wrong when, having the chance to do otherwise, we force a person who knows he is about to die to face that great opaqueness alone.

To deny that person his chosen spiritual counselor at such a moment is the ultimate cruel triumph of our current wave of secularization. The authorities are in effect saying, " What difference does it make who's with you at the end? You'll be dead soon, and none of this will matter to you." No matter how outrageous the crime, Alabama should not be taking sides in the greatest metaphysical question before us.

What can the court's majority say in response? That the security of the death chamber is inviolate? That the petition was filed too late? Such propositions as these cannot be taken seriously when the state is about to impose the technology of death. No matter how heinous the crime — and Ray's was despicable — a civilized culture must provide those last moments of comfort for the troubled soul.

The short of the matter is that the justices handed down a terrible decision, and, I suspect, miscalculated the reaction. There's nothing to be done now, because Ray has been put to death. But the issue is bound to come up again. Next time, for all of our sakes, let us pray that the court will get it right.

{americanthinker.com} ~ President Trump has demanded that Ilhan Omar voluntarily resign. The idea of impeachment of another Muslim Democratic congresswoman – Rashida Tlaib (Michigan) is also being actively promoted... The events surrounding Ilhan Omar, of course, are a shame for America. The anti-Semitic focus of her recent statements is obvious. However, this does not mean that President Trump has an urgent need to intervene in the process of natural political selection and demand the resignation of an anti-Semitic congresswoman. Trump's intervention in the natural self-destruction of the Democratic Party is a strategic mistake. People who in some exceptional circumstances make not rational, but impulsive decisions, are understandable, but concerning these two brainless members of Congress and their third friend – young socialist commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York – there should be a completely different approach. By its actions, this trinity guarantees the Democratic Party a very tarnished reputation. Moreover, the longer these ladies will stay in Congress, the more chances America has for an optimistic forecast. It seems that in January 2019, someone pressed a switch and turned off the brains of the Democrats. Currently, there is chaos and confusion in their minds. For example, they shout that President Trump is a puppet of Russia which means that Trump, submitting to the Kremlin, must pursue a pro-Russian policy.  However, if they really believe this, then the Democrats must demand the exact opposite – a tough stance towards Russia...

{independentsentinel.com} ~ Yesterday, Nancy Pulosi said that since President Trump declared an emergency to build the wall, Democrats would, in turn, declare emergencies to implement their agenda. She said they would declare gun violence an emergency... Pulosi wants to go for our guns. The Speaker said, “You want to talk about a national emergency, let’s talk about today, the one-year anniversary of another manifestation of the epidemic of gun violence in America. That’s a national emergency.” We now have another Democrat threatening us. Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut said “100 people die from guns every day. That’s a national emergency.” They always use misleading stats. He continued, “If Trump gets away with this border emergency declaration, then a Dem President can declare a gun violence emergency and institute universal background checks and an assault weapons ban by executive action. So…” He plans to take away all semi-automatic guns that look like assault weapons, and track gun owners under the guise of background checks. We already have universal background checks. What they want is a registry...

{freebeacon.com} ~ China's military is expected to deploy a laser weapon capable of destroying or damaging U.S. military satellites in low earth orbit in the next year, the Pentagon's Defense Intelligence Agency disclosed in a report on space threats... The Chinese directed energy weapon is among an array of space warfare tools that include ground-based anti-satellite (ASAT) missiles, electronic jammers, cyber attacks, and small satellites Beijing plans to use in attacks on U.S. satellites in a future conflict. "China likely is pursuing laser weapons to disrupt, degrade, or damage satellites and their sensors and possibly already has a limited capability to employ laser systems against satellite sensors," the unclassified intelligence report said. "China likely will field a ground-based laser weapon that can counter low-orbit space-based sensors by 2020, and by the mid-to-late 2020s, it may field higher power systems that extend the threat to the structures of non-optical satellites." It was the first time a U.S. intelligence agency disclosed details of the ASAT laser deployment plans. China's ASAT laser weapons have been known since at least 2006, when China used a ground based laser to "dazzle" an orbiting U.S. satellite in what was viewed as a test attack. The laser incident came a year before the 2007 Chinese ASAT missile test against an orbiting weather satellite that created a dangerous orbiting debris field...

"We've got people flooding in to support this," the aide said. The timing of introduction remains up in the air. The House adjourned Friday morning and is out next week for the President's Day recess. But the chamber will be conducting pro-forma sessions next week that would allow for the introduction of bills. commie-Ocasio-Cortez confirmed the move on Twitter, writing, ".@JoaquinCastrotx and I aren’t going to let the President declare a fake national emergency without a fight."...

{latimes.com} ~ Nearly 50 victims of human trafficking, including 14 minors, were rescued during a three-day sting operation across California last week, law enforcement officials announced Tuesday... State and federal agencies arrested 339 people, including 156 men on suspicion of solicitation, during the coordinated effort, which involved cyber detectives posing as teenagers. At a downtown Los Angeles news conference, Los Angeles County Assistant Sheriff Maria Gutierrez urged all parents to monitor their children’s internet use. “Predators,” she said, “operate freely in cyberspace.” In Los Angeles County, Gutierrez said, sheriff’s detectives arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with child pornography after finding several video clips showing the assault of a 6-year-old. When San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials arrested a man at a motel in Ontario, she said, the suspect, who responded to a decoy message from law enforcement, had a loaded pistol and meth in his pocket. In his vehicle, officials found seven other firearms, including assault weapons...

"Coalface" and the Left's Betrayal
of the Working Class
by Daniel Greenfield

{sultanknish.blogspot.com} ~ When I was growing up, the man who delivered coal to our school jokingly warned me that if I didn’t study hard and get good grades, I would also end up delivering coal.

It was a joke. But it also wasn’t.

Working with coal was hard and dirty. Even if all you had to do was deliver it. And, there, far removed culturally and geographically from America and its old minstrel shows, coal dust meant hard work.

Once upon a time, the Left romanticized coal dust and the coal miner as symbols of the oppressed working class. Then it degenerated into a movement of university bred urbanites with contempt for hard work and a calculated ignorance of the “brown energy” that makes their lives possible.

The disdain and ignorance reached a fever pitch with two media articles conflating coal dust with blackface. The Arizona Republic, ran an editorial by Rashaad Thomas, a self-described poet, essayist and Buddhist thinker, who was offended by a photo of Welsh coal miners hanging in a restaurant.

“Phoenix restaurant says this is a photo of coal miners. But I see offensive blackface,” Thomas complained. “My concern that the photograph of men in blackface was a threat to me and my face and voice were ignored. A business’ photograph of men with blackened faces culturally says to me, ‘Whites Only.’ It says people like me are not welcome.”

The photo is actually of Welsh coal miners from a century ago. And its political context is a million miles away from the case of Governor Ralph Northam in Virginia and mockery of African-Americans.

It does have a political context, but one that has nothing to do with race, and everything to do with class. The inability of Thomas and Arizona Republic editors to immediately grasp this encapsulates how detached they are from the working class.

Old lefties would have recognized and understood the political meaning of the photo. It was taken during the great coal strike of 1910 and 1911. The early twentieth saw massive strikes by coal miners both in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Tony pandy riots, which is the context for the coal miner photo, was one of the larger and more explosive confrontations which spiraled into a larger strike and culminated in Churchill, then Home Secretary, sending in the British Army as backup.

The strike would grow until one in six miners in South Wales were part of it.

The photo depicts coal miners in Cwmbach, Wales, discussing the upcoming strike. The coal boom had transformed Cwmbach, but working in the coal mines was risky with mine collapses that killed dozens. Cwmbach became part of the strike fairly early which actually started when the mines stopped allowing miners to take waste timber for their own homes. The men in the photo are relaxing in the pub, knowing that they won’t be going down into the mines again, but also that they won’t have any work.

They’re having a drink while knowing that it may be a while before they will be able to afford one again.

The significance of this is lost on the Arizona Republic’s Buddhist poet who writes, “The photograph shows coal miners’ faces covered in soot. The context of the photograph is not the issue.”

But the context is an issue. It’s just an issue that his fellow lefties once embraced, before abandoning.

The strike is still commemorated in the UK, where the romanticizing of a working class that actually worked with its hands still lingers a little, but strikes in the US invariably involve municipal workers.

Driving through Los Angeles in the rain a few weeks ago, you couldn’t escape men and women in red bellowing through megaphones outside schools to demand that their 6% raise be a 6.5% raise. And the usual teachers’ union obsession with destroying charter schools, testing and student education.

That’s what a strike looks like in 2019. And it’s very different than the dirty men in that pub.

“If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It's just that it will bankrupt them,” scumbag/liar-nObama had boasted.

“We're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business,"
scumbag/liar-Hillary Clinton told West Virginians.

She didn’t. But coal miners helped put her out of work and put Trump in the White House. American coal miners aren’t threatened by cartels, but by environmentalists. They’re not oppressed by billionaires who own mines, but by billionaire lefties like Michael Bloomberg who don’t own mines, and don’t want any to exist. And hardly a day goes by without another proposal to replace coal mines with lavender farms, in a recent Bloomberg magazine, or a proposal to teach coal miners how to code.

In recent years, the media was full of proposals to teach coal miners to code. “Hillbillies who code,” was one of the ridiculously condescending media headlines. But when digital media ventures recently began laying off hundreds of journalists, the media insisted that telling them to “learn to code” was a hate crime. It’s one thing to suggest that coal mining is obsolete, but another to suggest that journalism is.

But the Arizona Republic and the New York Times make a compelling case for journalism’s obsolesce.

Unhappy with all the attention that the Arizona Republic was getting for conflating coal with blackface, the New York Times decided to run an op-ed accusing Mary Poppins, specifically Bert, of blackface.

“'Mary Poppins,' and a Nanny's Shameful Flirting With Blackface,” the old gray lady huffs and puffs.

The rant by Daniel Pollack-Pelzner, who had amassed a PhD in English from Harvard, contends that, “Part of the new film’s nostalgia, however, is bound up in a blackface performance tradition”.

“When the magical nanny played by Julie Andrews accompanies her young charges, Michael and Jane Banks, up their chimney, her face gets covered in soot, but instead of wiping it off, she gamely powders her nose and cheeks even blacker,” he writes. “Then she leads the children on a dancing exploration of London rooftops with Dick Van Dyke’s sooty chimney sweep, Bert.”

"One of the more indelible images from the 1964 film is of Mary Poppins blacking up," claims Pollack-Pelzner, who has a chair in Shakespeare but can't tell race from class.

The scene that Harvard’s best and brightest is referring to has Bert singing about the life of a chimney sweep, “Tween pavement and stars is the chimney sweepworld/Where there's 'ardly no day and 'ardly no night”, while taking middle class children out of their sheltered home and into the mysterious grime of a working class world.

A world that is both magical and dirty. And one that romanticizes the coal dust of hard work.

What was once a politically subversive scene has, much like the coal miner photo, become magically reactionary with the passage of time and the distancing of the Left from the working class.

Does Daniel Pollack-Pelzner, a member of the faculty at the University of California Dickens Project, really not understand the role of the chimney sweep in British life? Or British class structure? Did he somehow manage to get a PhD in English at Harvard without ever once encountering Blake’s The Chimney Sweeper “a little black thing among the snow”? Did he think Blake was referring to blackface?

He probably isn’t that ignorant or incompetent. But he’s playing to an audience that is.

An essay on British working class life wouldn’t get you into the New York Times or Arizona Republic op-ed sections, but discovering racism lurking in Mary Poppins or a restaurant photo will.

The chimney sweep and the coal miner were powerful symbols of the working class. But the transgressive images of Mary Poppins and middle class children smeared in coal dust or coal miners enjoying a pint in a pub before the big strike are no longer politically useful.

And what isn’t politically useful swiftly becomes reactionary. Every progressive will live long enough to become his own villain as yesterday’s revolutions of social progress become tomorrow’s hate crimes.

In what some are calling, “facecrime”, media essays read hateful volumes into the quirk of a teenage boy’s lips at a pro-life rally or the coal dust on men’s faces. These exercises in theoretical physiognomy don’t reveal new truths, they are just the Rorschach inkblots that justify the bigotry of the observers.

And their ignorance.

The new obsession with racism demands ignoring the terrible damage that the Democrats have done to African-American communities with their policies through an endless search for shiny new racisms. Reading racism into movies and photos does nothing to help African-Americans in the working class, but fuels a boom in the work of academics and essayists of all races whose work is geared to the upper class.

The coal miner photo and the dancing chimney sweeps date back to an era when the Left was interested in class. Now it’s refocused all its attention on race while leaving the working class behind in the coal dust. And to the Buddhist poets and Harvard academics, coal dust doesn’t represent class, but racism.

When you don’t work for a living, then the people who do, real or fictional, are incomprehensible. Like their upper class predecessors, the Left sees the working class as ‘other’ and their dirt as moral decay.

The cultural signifiers and attitudes haven’t changed. Only the exact definition of immorality has.

The upper class of a century past thought that dirty working people were crude, indolent and savage. Our leftist upper class thinks that they’re racist.

They could benefit from joining Bert in a trip up the chimney.

Timothy Lynch Reviews The FBI’s First 100 years.

In 1908, the Justice Department created the Bureau of Investigation, a small division of detectives that was responsible for investigating violations of federal law. The division was filled with incompetent and corrupt agents until a young bureaucrat by the name of J. Edgar Hoover was brought in.

America desperately needs
a confirmed defense secretary
by James Carafano, Roger Zakheim and
Bradley Bowman

{thehill.com} ~ The United States confronts the most dangerous and dynamic array of threats that we have seen in our lifetimes, yet our armed forces lack a confirmed secretary of the Defense Department...

AOC and her followers think a ‘tax abatement’ is an actual bucket of pre-existing cash they can now spend to improve New York schools and infrastructure.  No, seriously, they actually believe this… It’s far beyond economic dissonance, it’s Moonbattery. 70% tax rates. {washingtonexaminer.com} ~ A federal judge issued a gag order Friday in special counsel dirty cop-Robert Mueller’s case against longtime Trump associate Roger Stone... In a four-page order, U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson forbade attorneys for both irty cop-Mueller and Stone from “making statements to the media or in public settings that pose a substantial likelihood of material prejudice to this case.” She additionally wants "to maintain the dignity and seriousness of the courthouse and these proceedings." Berman also said Stone is not allowed to speak about the case in or around the courthouse. She has not imposed additional restrictions on Stone but left the option open in the future. Stone’s attorneys last week urged Berman not to impose a gag order, arguing he had a right to speak freely because he is a writer and commentator. Berman previously warned she would impose such an order after Stone attacked dirty cop-Mueller in the media after he was arrested last month at his Fort Lauderdale, Fla., home in a pre-dawn FBI raid. Stone has pleaded not guilty to lying to Congress, obstruction of an official proceeding, and witness tampering. The judge concluded her order with some advice for Stone: "Finally, while it is not up to the Court to advise the defendant as to whether a succession of public statements would be in his best interest at this time, it notes that one factor that will be considered in the evaluation of any future request for relief based on pretrial publicity will be the extent to which the publicity was engendered by the defendant himself." Fordham law professor Jed Shugerman wryly commented on the gag order on Twitter: "For Stone, this will be cruel and unusual punishment."   https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/judge-slaps-gag-order-on-roger-stone-attorneys-in-mueller-case?utm_source=WEX_Breaking%20News%20Alert_02/15/2019&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=WEX_Breaking%20News

Islamic Relief Strikes Back (But Misses)

{meforum.org} ~ Earlier this week, we broke the news that Islamist-linked congresswoman Ilhan Omar already in the news after publishing anti-Semitic tweets was due to speak at an event organized by Islamic Relief... an international aid charity accused of funding terror and extremism – alongside a senior Islamic Relief official who has published social media posts praising the killing of Jews. Our research was quickly picked up by a number of media outlets, including the Jerusalem Post, Washington Examiner, Daily Wire, JNS and others. The story went somewhat viral. Our blog post and the media articles covering our report were aggregately shared by over 70,000 people on Facebook, and another 40,000 on Twitter – reaching millions. No wonder, then, that Islamic Relief started to feel the pressure. After an initial silence, Islamic Relief decided to doctor its advertisements for the event by expunging all mentions that its leading anti-Jewish official would be speaking – even amending a glossy poster that it had previously published all over social media. Islamic Relief and one of Rep. Omar's staff then promptly set about claiming that the official was never in fact due to speak. Unfortunately for them, there were boundless copies and screenshots of the posters and event webpages available to expose this lie rather quickly...

The Islamic State of Iran at 40
by Clifford D. May, Michael Ledeen and
Behnam Ben Taleblu

{fdd.org} ~ Four decades ago, Iran was convulsed by one of the great revolutions of the 20th century. The leader of that revolution: Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini...
would take the title: “supreme leader.” He was to be regarded, literally, as God’s “representative on Earth.” A charismatic, fire-and-brimstone cleric, he preached jihad against America and the West. When he died in 1989, his disciple, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, became the new supreme leader. He has called the Islamic Revolution the “turning point in modern world history.” His regime now influences Iraq, has military forces propping up the Assad dictatorship in Syria—where more than half a million people have been killed and millions made homeless—controls Lebanon through Hezbollah, backs the Houthi rebels in Yemen, and penetrates Latin America. Supreme Leader Khamenei also has a nuclear weapons program—perhaps delayed but certainly not ended by the deal President scumbag/liar-nObama agreed to—as well as a program to develop missiles capable of delivering such weapons to targets anywhere in the world. To learn more about what lies ahead for the Islamic Republic, host Clifford D. May is joined by FDD Freedom Scholar Michael Ledeen—who has been studying the Islamic Republic since its inception —and FDD Research Fellow and Iran expert Behnam Ben Taleblu.

by Pat Buchanan

{townhall.com} ~ After reading an especially radical platform agreed upon by the British Labor Party, one Tory wag described it as "the longest suicide note in history."

The phrase comes to mind on reading of the resolution calling for a Green New Deal, advanced by commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and endorsed by at least five of the major Democratic candidates for president.

The Green New Deal is designed to recall the halcyon days of the 1930s, when, so the story goes, FDR came to Washington to enact the historic reforms that rescued America from the Great Depression.

Only that story is more than a small myth.

The unemployment rate when FDR took the oath in 1933 was 25 percent. It never fell below 14 percent through the 1930s. In June 1938, despite huge Democratic majorities in Congress, FDR was presiding over a nation where unemployment was back up to 19 percent.

World War II and the conscription of 16 million young men gave us "full employment." And the war's end and demobilization saw the return of real prosperity in 1946, after FDR was dead.

Yet this Green New Deal is nothing if not ambitious.

To cope with climate change, the GND calls for a 10-year plan to meet "100 percent of the power demand of the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources."

This appears to require a phase-out by 2030 of all carbon-emitting power plants fueled by coal and oil and their replacement by power plants fueled by wind and solar.

Will natural gas be permitted? Will nuclear power? There are 60 commercially operating nuclear power plants with 98 nuclear reactors in 30 states. Will they be shut down? Will the Greens agree to dam up more U.S. rivers to produce renewable hydroelectric power?

Air travel consumes huge quantities of carbon-producing jet fuel. What will replace it? Perhaps progressive Democratic candidates will set an example by not flying, and then by voting to end production of private aircraft and to ground all corporate jets. Let the elites sail to Davos.

The GND calls for an overhaul of the "transportation systems in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector ... through ... clean, affordable and accessible public transportation; and high-speed rail."

Gas-powered cars are out. How long will that train trip from DC to LA take? And if China continues its relentless rise in carbon emissions until 2030, as permitted by the Paris climate accord, while the U.S. spends itself into bankruptcy going green, where would that leave America and China at midcentury?

"By the end of the Green New Deal resolution and accompanying fact sheet I was laughing so hard I nearly cried," tweeted the Wall Street Journal's Kimberley Strassel: "If a bunch of GOPers plotted to forge a fake Democratic bill showing how bonkers the party is, they could not have done a better job. It is beautiful."

The Green New Deal, say its authors, has as a goal "stopping current, preventing future, and repairing historic oppression of indigenous peoples, communities of color, migrant communities, deindustrialized communities, depopulated rural communities, the poor, low-income workers, the elderly, the unhoused, peoples with disabilities, and youth."

Fifty years after the Great Society, apparently half the country consists of victims of oppression.

Who are their oppressors? Guess.

Among the endorsers of this Green New Deal is Sen. scumbag-Cory Booker, who compares the battle to stop climate change to fighting the Nazis in World War II. Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand, lowlife-Kamala Harris and Elizabeth dinky-Warren have all endorsed it. Sen. commie-Bernie Sanders, who calls climate change "an existential threat," was an original co-sponsor.

Nancy Pulosi has more sense. Interviewed last week, the speaker batted the Green New Deal aside: "It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive. The green dream, or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they're for it, right?"

With her own agenda and priorities, Pulosi does not want to be dragged into having to defend a document that reads like it was written by the college socialists club.

The question, though, is why Democrats, who, if nominated, are likely to face Donald Trump in 2020, are signing on to so radical a scheme.

In a presidential election, the "out" party candidate usually has an advantage. No record to defend. He or she can choose the terrain on which to attack the incumbent, who has a four-year record.

Rarely does an out party present a fixed and stationary target as exposed as this, as out-of the-mainstream as this, as vulnerable as this.

The only explanation for the endorsement of the Green New Deal by candidates with a prospect of winning the Democratic nomination is that they are so fearful of commie-Ocasio-Cortez and the left for whom she speaks that they must endorse her plan.

That British Tory got it right. This thing reads like a Democratic Party suicide pact.

{dailysignal.com} ~ Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., praised Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., for green-lighting a Senate roll call vote on Feb. 25 for Sasse’s legislation protecting abortion survivors... “I want to thank the majority leader for scheduling this vote so that every American can know where their senator stands on the issue of infanticide,” Sasse said in a statement released Thursday.  “A lot of senators spend a lot of time telling people how they fight for the little guy. Well, here’s the chance for them to prove it.” Sasse tried Jan. 31 to hold a unanimous consent vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act in the Senate following New York legalizing abortion up to birth in January and the Virginia Legislature attempting to pass a similar bill. However, Sen. scumbag-Patty Murray, D-Wash., objected. “We’re going to have a vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and everyone is going to have to put their name by their vote,” Sasse added...

{lifezette.com} ~ The United States “is at stake” because the Democrats “are bowing down at the altar of open borders” and refusing to grant President Donald Trump the border wall funding necessary to secure the nation... Fox News host Laura Ingraham said Thursday night on “The Ingraham Angle.” Trump plans to sign the congressional compromise budget bill that landed on his desk on Thursday in order to avoid a second government shutdown this year. The president is also expected to declare a national emergency on Friday in order to secure $8 billion in border wall funding to address the crisis. The bill Trump received includes only $1.375 billion in border barrier funding — not the $5.7 billion he said was necessary to secure the country. Many Republicans are also frustrated by the provisions hampering immigration enforcement measures. Democrats are planning to file legal challenges to Trump’s national emergency declaration once he makes it. The “only card” Trump has left to play is the national emergency declaration, Ingraham said, because the Democrats “pushed him into this situation.” Ultimately the Supreme Court would have to decide whether or not Trump exceeded his constitutional authority by declaring a national emergency and acting accordingly...  https://www.lifezette.com/2019/02/our-nation-is-at-stake-as-lying-democrats-bow-down-at-the-altar-of-open-borders/?utm_source=activeengage&utm_medium=email

{jpost.com} ~ When it comes to her political views, Caroline Glick has long been an open book. She’s written countless columns that run the gamut of political issues in Israel, focusing mostly on foreign relations and national security... And now, Glick wants to take those views from the page to the Knesset, in Education Minister Naftali Bennett and Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked’s New Right Party.  “The ideas I’ve been communicating for 16 years in The Jerusalem Post are the same ideas and convictions that will be informing everything I do in the Knesset, and will play a major role in determining policies in this party going forward,” she said. Speaking from her home in Efrat on Thursday, with her two dogs playing beside her and signs of her younger son’s birthday party from the day before still intact, Glick talked about why she’s decided to make this career change. “I asked myself every day, how do I bring what I have to bear as an individual in the most significant way for the country and the Jewish people?” she said. “A lawmaker can make a significant difference for the country and the Jews worldwide. That’s why I decided to take this step.” Glick hasn’t fallen into the trap of many rookie politicians who had previously found renown in other areas; she doesn’t expect to be a minister, and finds the fact that such an expectation is so common to be problematic...   https://www.jpost.com/Opinion/Political-Affairs-From-Column-One-to-the-Knesset-580716

South Carolina’s Anti-Sharia Bill — a Smart Step

{clarionproject.org} ~ South Carolina’s anti-sharia bill is a smart step in shielding American courts against foreign law. Senator Larry Grooms introduced the bill. While it doesn’t specifically name Islamic law, it would also apply to Islamic sharia law... For Senator Grooms, a shocking case in New Jersey that cited sharia law to rule against a sexually abused woman was sufficient cause for him to see that South Carolina is protected from competing jurisprudence rooted in foreign legal systems.  That case was later overturned on appeal. The step Senator Grooms is taking is a necessary preventative measure that helps ensure future debate and controversy over legal cases and competing values are kept at bay. South Carolina is making it clear that its courts will not entertain a foreign legal system. Case closed.  At present, it is vital that Americans are clear about our values and initiate calm, rational and definitive steps to ensure those values are protected. The longer we deter meaningful strides to protect American values, the more we are allowing a level of paranoia to brew. Sharia law has traditionally been a bogeyman among conservative audiences which usually use the term to refer to the brutal hudud punishments. As such, a significant degree of Muslim-hatred has seeped through in that dialogue.  Our conversation on sharia needs to have a deeper understanding of what sharia is exactly. During Islam’s early years, sharia was more akin to a current in an ocean and any number of currents or pathways could be taken to arrive at a decision. However, over the course of hundreds of years — as Muslims tried to build a framework for Islam — sharia become more rigid and structured. Still, sharia law differs from region to region. At the end of the day, sharia amounts to following the law of the land, which is why in the U.S., following ‘sharia’ means following American law... Sharia is not the law of USA.  https://clarionproject.org/south-carolina-anti-sharia-bill/

The border wars plot to destabilize
and transform America
by Cliff Kincaid

{renewamerica.com} The Center for a Secure Free Society held a news conference the other day about the roles of Russia, China, Venezuela, and other countries in flooding the U.S. with illegal aliens...
Mario Duarte, Secretary of Strategic Intelligence for the Republic of Guatemala, spoke at the event, calling the caravans and their impact on U.S. border security the "weaponization" of refugees. The term "weaponization" was also used by NATO's top commander in Europe, Philip Breedlove, to describe what the Russians and Syrians were doing in the Middle East with the Islamic refugees there. Germany's Angela Merkel has welcomed these refugees, destabilizing Europe. Here, President Trump campaigned for office on the basis of stopping the flow of this weaponized migration into the U.S. Objectively speaking, Merkel – and not Trump – has been serving Russian interests. The popular reality TV show "Border Wars," on the National Geographic Channel, captures the determined efforts of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, ICE, DEA, the U.S. Coast Guard, and local law enforcement to keep our nation safe. They fight terrorism and apprehend drug smugglers. They also intercept people entering the United States illegally. These illegal aliens have become a weapon of war, just like in the Middle East. A border wall would be another line of defense...

{townhall.com} ~ Kermit the Frog was wrong. It is now easy to be "green." The evidence is the "Green New Deal," which CNN describes as a "...10-year 'economic mobilization' that would phase out fossil fuel use and overhaul the nation's infrastructure while building whole new layers into the existing social safety net." The 14-page resolution was proposed by Rep. commie-Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA).

Conservatives mock her for proposing, among other things, the complete transformation of every building in the U.S. and trains that would span the oceans as airplanes are phased out. commie-Ocasio-Cortez doesn't appear to know how any of this will be paid for, but when one is liberal it doesn't matter. It's the thought that counts, not the outcome.

It is helpful to remember how what once seemed extreme has now become accepted. Think of abortion, which most of the country opposed in the late 19th century. Now our elected officials advocate for it. New York Governor Andrew evil-Cuomo recently wrote a scathing op-ed in The New York Times supporting late-term abortions in his state.

Same-sex marriage, the outlawing of prayer and Bible reading in public schools and ending the Pledge of Allegiance in some schools was once thought extreme and fantastical.

Now we have the extreme Green New Deal, which even addresses flatulent cows and the methane they emit. CNBC reports the plan "aimed to have the U.S. creating 'net-zero' greenhouse gases in 10 years," lawmakers explaining: "We set a goal to get to net-zero, rather than zero emissions, in 10 years because we aren't sure that we'll be able to fully get rid of farting cows and airplanes that fast."

Question. Since there are more humans than cows, shouldn't the deal have included human flatulence, along with information on how they intend to control that?

commie-Ocasio-Cortez was quick to backtrack.

"At the time this story was published, writes CNBC, the FAQ page with the phrase 'farting cows' appeared to have been removed from commie-Ocasio-Cortez's website. Fox News' John Roberts reported that the language was tweaked to 'emissions from cows' in an update, which also appears to have been deleted."

In separate interviews, commie-Ocasio-Cortez first admitted her proposal would require "massive government intervention," but later reversed herself, claiming it is the right wing that is mischaracterizing her proposal about more government intrusion into our lives.

The left is completely transparent now. In the words of Barack scumbag/liar-nObama, they do plan to "fundamentally transform the United States of America." Millennials, especially, are fine with this because they have had such nonsense fed to them in public schools and by university professors. No evidence that contradicts their doctrines can persuade them. They accept what they have been told as a cult member accepts what its leader tells them.

Need proof? Read a report by the National Association of Scholars on the state of civics education in U.S. public schools. An analysis of the 525-page document on thefederalist.com found that even in places where civics education remains, it is being "transformed into a political machine to push left-wing causes, undermine American government and incite civil unrest. ... The "New Civics" uses attractive, bipartisan-sounding works like 'civics' and 'service learning' to trick Americans and their representatives into allowing progressive political machinery to hijack public funds and young minds."

The left used to mask their agenda for fear of backlash. Now they are open about their views. The response should go beyond ridicule. What we need is pushback that contains scientific, economic and political arguments and supplants feelings with facts.

Want more proof that failed liberal policies never produce a change of direction, but a doubling down on discredited ideas? A task force created by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel proposes giving some Chicago families $1,000 per month with no strings attached. The idea is to break the cycle of poverty, but that assumes recipients use taxpayer money wisely. I'm sure a guaranteed check for doing nothing will be all the incentive some need to liberate themselves from an addiction to government. It has worked so well at the federal level, hasn't it?

Several Democratic presidential candidates support the "Green New Deal, though it reeks of communism. After the ridicule, opponents had better find a way to communicate the truth, or we risk becoming another Venezuela.

Our National Debt Just Hit $22 Trillion.
Will Congress Finally Take It Seriously?

{dailysignal.com} ~ Wow. $22 trillion. Let that huge number sink in. It’s the gross national debt reported Monday by the Treasury Department. The question is, now that we have crossed this inauspicious threshold, will Congress finally get serious about changing the nation’s budget course?... For years, the Congressional Budget Office has warned that America’s growing debt is unsustainable, and eventually the repercussions will affect all Americans. Unfortunately, most lawmakers haven’t been paying attention. Instead of implementing reforms to fix the debt problem, Congress largely has ignored it and gone out of its way to avoid making tough budget decisions. The impact of a breathtaking number like $22 trillion is hard to comprehend without context. At more than 107 percent of gross domestic product, as a share of the economy the gross national debt is higher than it has been since 1947. The debt has been higher only three times in U.S. history, all in the immediate aftermath of World War II...   https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/02/13/our-national-debt-just-hit-22-trillion-will-congress-finally-take-it-seriously/?mkt_tok=eyJpIjoiWlRjeU5qZGhObVZqWmpOaSIsInQiOiJ3a3phOVhOa2RISzU0dHlKZmxwK0dLY1EweUZoQnVnMmYyWE1hMVdveVRUaExEVDJBbUdDUkowdkVHaDNtQjRNQlRcL1o5amhFNmQ5SCtoVzNPMFVSbVAya0pWXC9QaWIrMkkrdWtNczYzQkIwK2thOWlMM1VCZmtLaFROcFMzSFpvIn0%3D

Jewish Leaders Aren’t Buying
Ilhan Omar’s Apologies

{conservativefreepress.com} ~ Not for the first time, Rep. Ilham Omar (D-MN) found herself accused of anti-Semitism this week when she insinuated that Republican politicians were being bought by Jewish lobbying groups so that they would continue to support Israel... The tweets that caused the controversy involved Omar telling journalist Glenn Greenwald that for the GOP,  “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.” When asked specifically who was paying the Republican Party to support Israel, she replied: “AIPAC!” This drew condemnation from across the political spectrum, and Omar – under pressure – released what the called an “unequivocal” apology. Even so, her apology demonstrated the very definition of equivocating. After saying she was sorry for offending Jews with her “THEY CONTROL THE WORLD WITH MONEY” conspiratorial tweets, she said, “At the same time, I reaffirm the problematic role of lobbyists in our politics, whether it be Aipac, the N.R.A. or the fossil fuel industry.” But not CAIR, we assume. In any event, President Trump was not impressed with Omar’s apology. Calling it “lame,” the president said Omar should consider stepping down. “Anti-Semitism has no place in the United States Congress,” Trump said Wednesday. “I think she should either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the foreign affairs committee.”...
Religion vs. Free Speech

{gatestoneinstitute.org} ~ Speaking and writing about Islam today requires discretion, sensitivity, and a good grasp of facts. Doing this is harder in most European countries than it is in the United States, where the First Amendment insists on powerful free speech rights... The need for sensitivity stems from the almost universal condemnation of "Islamophobia", a mainly good-hearted response to democratic worries that innocent Muslims may be targeted with violence or hate speech, even as many but far from all seek to integrate themselves and their families into Western society. Raw Islamophobia, like raw prejudice by and against any group, is of course racist, unacceptable and most often expressed by hate groups on the far right of politics. At the same time, it is not surprising that many people will build their attitudes towards Muslims on a perception prompted by Islamist terror attacks, radical Muslim antagonism to Western societies, or uneasiness about Muslims who choose to dress in ways that do not conform to Western norms. The confusion caused also creates problems for many people who have reasonable concerns about Islam as a religion and a political ideology. The problem is that even fair-minded and non-racist authors, websites, members of the media and others end up being tarred with the same brush and condemned as malicious racists themselves. This creates a distorted perception of what has been termed "two Islamophobias," one hateful, the other respectable. The latter, of course, is not Islamophobia at all, any more than presenting a rational critique of any other religion, political thought, or ideology is racist, hate-driven or undemocratic. That confusion between a hate-driven view of Islam and a thoughtful, unbiased criticism of it has led to restrictions on what may and what may not be written or said about Islam or Muslims, while politicians of all varieties, church leaders, and human rights activists have adopted a style of virtue-signalling that tells the world to be silent and accepting, or else they will be called racists or Islamophobes... So what, as long as the facts are shown.  https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13539/religion-free-speech

{activistpost.com} ~ According to a recently published white paper there is a worldwide effort to restrict the right to travel of everyone. And you will not believe how the U.N. is involved... A recent  article at PapersPlease.org warns that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) wants to check every airline passenger’s background and send airlines an “Authority to Carry” before a passenger is allowed to board a plane. An iAPI system allows for a two-way communication in near real-time. The airlines transmit the API message on a per-person basis to the requesting authorities at the time of check-in, while law enforcement agencies have the opportunity to decide whether a certain person is allowed or not to board a plane by issuing a board/no-board message. Think about what this means; the self-proclaimed “largest regional security organization in the world” the OSCE, wants to conduct background checks of every airline passenger in the world. The work of the OSCE spans the globe, encompassing three continents – North America, Europe and Asia – and more than a billion people. Giving a private organization the ability to control the right to travel of nearly 8 billion people is horrifying. The white paper warns that the OSCE and the International Air Transport Association are working together to track every airline passenger...
'The Road to Shariadom' in America
by Janet Levy

{americanthinker.com} ~ The Assembly of Muslim Jurists in America (AMJA) is part of an international network of Muslim scholars that preaches shariah rule as a government system, even issuing a fatwa delineating sharia's "superiority" over democracy...
It is one of many Muslim organizations now dangerously and politically active in the United States. They include the 25-year-old Council of Islamic Relations, CAIR, self-described as a "Muslim civil rights organization" with an Islamic perspective on American public issues. More recent organizations – created in 2015 and similarly politically dedicated – include JETPAC, the Justice, Education and Technology Policy Advocacy Center, which encourages American Muslims to get involved in local politics, and MPower Change, committed to creating a political platform for Muslim issues and organizing around it. All these politically active Muslim-American groups, prominent Muslims and other Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated organizations within the U.S. publicly avow that they have no intention of implementing sharia in the U.S.  Yet, their stated political goals, public statements and recent reports, betray their true intentions: to grow in political strength sufficient to replace our democracy with their religious governance.  More than 100 top Muslim leaders belong to AMJA, which began in 2003. Imams at over 3,100 U.S. mosques look to AMJA for instructional guidance to lead their congregations. The group's name in Arabic, "The Group of Sharia Specialists in America," implies its purpose:  to impel Muslims to follow its comprehensive, sharia-compliant fatwas. Many of the group's leaders attended Egypt's Al-Azhar University, the world's highest academy of Islamic learning and interpreter of the definitive sharia text – The Reliance of the Traveller... What have you done America to let this happen.  https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2019/02/the_road_to_shariadom_in_america.html

by Culture Beat:  Julia Beck is a lesbian woman who was recently kicked off an LGBTQ commission for daring to acknowledge the reality of biology. In an article entitled “How I became the most hated lesbian in Baltimore,” Beck relays her brief experience on Baltimore’s LGBTQ Commission and how her refusal to use a female pronoun when addressing a “transwoman” — i.e., a man claiming to be a woman — got her thrown off.

In her article, Beck argued that treating and viewing “transgender women” as biological females was in fact dangerous to actual women. She writes, “I brought up Karen White, a convicted pedophile and rapist who was placed in a UK women’s prison, despite being legally male and undergoing no steps to socially or medically transition, where he then raped two inmates. White’s case illustrates how easy it is for men to manipulate the law, but Pipitone [a self-identified transwoman] smirked and claimed I was being performative. In delicate tones, he expressed concern with my leadership. He claimed Lesbianism and transgenderism are incongruent political forces (probably the only thing we agree on). Instead of enacting ‘lateral violence’ against transfolk by crashing ‘our parades,’ he argued that lesbians should assimilate with male lesbians to ‘punch up’ at an unnamed oppressor.”

In an interview with Tucker Carlson on Fox News, Beck explained her reasoning for refusing to adopt the transgender paradigm: “I believe in the truth.” That’s debatable given her own life choices, but it’s interesting nonetheless. She added, “When we get down to it, women and girls all share a biological reality. We are all female. But if any man, if any male person, can call himself a woman, or be legally identified as female, then predatory men will do so in order to gain access to women’s single-sex spaces, and it puts every woman and girl at risk.” Hmm… that sounds a lot like the argument we’ve been making since this whole “transgender” crusade reared its twisted head.

It will be interesting to see how many more folks within the Rainbow Mafia ranks start stepping out to call foul over the obviously incongruent ideologies currently being artificially forced together under one big tent.  ~The Patriot Post
