The ubiquity of disco music had many music lovers feeling defeated (if not riotous). But there was still hope in the form of Zeppelin, the dominant act of the era, which fused hard rock and Delta blues into some of best songs ever recorded. The quality of their product wasn’t what it had been a decade before, but Zeppelin could surely still rock. When drummer John Bonham died of drunkenness in September of 1980, however, the band dropped its studio album and cancelled its planned U.S. tour. The loss of Bonham, the powerhouse who defined the band’s sound, proved too much. Thirty-five years ago today, the surviving members of the band announced their breakup in a letter to fans saying “we could not continue as we were.”

{gopthedailydose.com} ~ Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” while discussing the uncovered email showing Democratic presidential candidate Hilly Clinton had told the Egyptian prime minister that “we know the attack in Libya had nothing to do with the film,”... prior to telling them it was a YouTube video that caused the terror attack, Clinton said she did not lie to them but instead was caught up in “the fog of war.” When confronted by video clips of family members of Benghazi victims, Clinton said, “I understand the continuing grief at the loss that parents experienced with the loss of these four brave Americans. I did testify as you know for 11 hours and I answered all of these questions. Now, I can’t — I can’t help it that people think there has to be something else there, I said very clearly, there had been a terrorist group that had taken responsibility on Facebook, between the time that I, you know, when I talked to my daughter, that was the latest information, we were giving it credibility, and then we learned the next day, it wasn’t true. In fact, they retracted it. This was a fast-moving series of events in the fog of war. I think most Americans understand.” Boy, she is lying once again. Dozens of interviews of people with firsthand knowledge of the years-long problem spoke of the tensions between the watchdogs and the administration. The New York Times reports: The Drug Enforcement Administration balked at turning over emails from senior officials tied to the raids, according to the department’s inspector general. It took nearly a year of wrangling before the D.E.A. was willing to turn over all its records in a case that the inspector general said raised “serious questions” about agents’ use of deadly force. NY Daily News Lists NRA’s LaPierre Among American Terrorists
{Don Irvine} ~ The New York Daily News is stirring up plenty of controversy today with its cover that labels the National Rifle Association’s executive director, Wayne LaPierre... as much of a terrorist as the shooters in the San Bernardino attack and the gunmen behind other mass shootings. The cover, which features San Bernardino gunman Syed Farook and talks about his apparent Isamic radicalization, also includes pictures of the gunmen behind the Colorado Springs, Sandy Hook, Charleston and Aurora tragedies. When I think of what President nObama’s reasons might be, it scares me. He’s our commander-in-chief. His primary responsibility is keeping America safe, but fewer Americans believe he knows how to do that — especially when he won’t even name our enemy..

My essential question assumed the obvious: radical Muslims wanted to kill us and were doing so by the thousands ever since 1979 when the Islamic Republic of Iran declared war on the United States in 1979. President nObama ignored our state of war when he authorized Secretary of State John hanoi-Kerry to negotiate a nuclear arms treaty with one of our biggest enemies. We’re not at war with Islam, insists President nObama. So did his predecessor, President Bush, but Iran, the most powerful country in the Islamic world, has long been in open war against us..

Radical Muslims are those who live their lives in adherence to Quranic verses such as Quran (8:12) - “I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. I began teaching about our state of war a few years after the Islamic Republic of Iran declared it in 1979. During the 1980s the war got little attention. It got more during the 1990s when suicide bombers were blowing themselves up in Israeli busses and restaurants. My job was to teach students what motivated them. They had to learn terms like: jihad, sharia, intifada, Quran, etc. After September 11, 2001 our war came front and center. After that my lessons began on the first day of school when our media was hyper-focused on observing anniversaries of the attack, year after year..

We all know where we were on that fateful Tuesday morning. I was writing the word “jihad” on the blackboard during my first class of the day when the principal came to my door to tell me about the attack. There had been another suicide bombing in Israel the day before and I was asking my students why radical Muslims wanted to kill Jews. Many of my former students went into combat against radical Islam in its various forms, but it continues to grow. So does the myopia of our president who tells America that climate change is a much greater threat. He made the claim while discussing the administration’s strategy, or lack thereof, for combating the Islamic State (ISIS), which is al Qaeda’s jihadist rival. hanoi-Kerry believes that the U.S. and its allies can finish off ISIS quicker than al Qaeda. There’s just one problem: It is not true that al Qaeda or its top leaders have been “neutralized.” Dozens of senior al Qaeda terrorists, including of course Osama bin Laden, have been eliminated. But al Qaeda is not a simple top-down terrorist group that can be entirely vanquished by killing or detaining select key leaders. It is a paramilitary insurgency organization that is principally built for waging guerilla warfare. Terrorism is a part of what al Qaeda does, but not nearly all. And a key reason why al Qaeda has been able to regenerate its threat against us repeatedly over the past 14 years is that it uses its guerilla armies to groom new leaders and identify recruits for terrorist plots against the West. The summary below shows what al Qaeda looks like today – it is far from being “neutralized.” Instead, al Qaeda and its regional branches are fighting in more countries today than ever.
