Despite what some may think, the Constitution is no magical incantation against government wrongdoing. Indeed, it’s only as effective as those who abide by it. However, without courts willing to uphold the Constitution’s provisions when government officials disregard it and a citizenry knowledgeable enough to be outraged when those provisions are undermined, it provides little to no protection against SWAT team raids, domestic surveillance, police shootings of unarmed citizens, indefinite detentions, and the like.

Unfortunately, the courts and the police have meshed in their thinking to such an extent that anything goes when it’s done in the name of national security, crime fighting and terrorism. Consequently, America no longer operates under a system of justice characterized by due process, an assumption of innocence, probable cause and clear prohibitions on government overreach and police abuse. Instead, our courts of justice have been transformed into courts of order, advocating for the government’s interests, rather than championing the rights of the citizenry, as enshrined in the Constitution.

Just recently, for example, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in U.S. v. Westhoven that driving too carefully, with a rigid posture, taking a scenic route, and having acne are sufficient reasons for a police officer to suspect you of doing something illegal, detain you, search your car, and arrest you—even if you’ve done nothing illegal to warrant the stop in the first place.

In that same vein, the U.S. Supreme Court declared in a 5-4 ruling in Navarette v. California that police officers can, under the guise of “reasonable suspicion,” stop cars and question drivers based solely on anonymous tips, no matter how dubious, and whether or not they themselves witnessed any troubling behavior.

And then you have the Supreme Court’s refusal to hear Hedges v. Obama, a legal challenge to the indefinite detention provision of the National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 (NDAA), thereby affirming that the President and the U.S. military can arrest and indefinitely detain individuals, including American citizens, based on a suspicion that they might be associated with or aiding terrorist organizations.

All three cases reflect a mindset in which the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution, once the map by which we navigated sometimes hostile terrain, has been unceremoniously booted out of the runaway car that is our government, driven over and left for road kill on the side of the road. All that can be seen in the rear view mirror are the tire marks on its ragged frame.

What we are dealing with, as I document in my book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, is a run-away government hyped up on its own power, whose policies are dictated more by paranoia than need. Making matters worse, “we the people” have become so gullible, so easily distracted, and so out-of-touch that we are ignoring the warning signs all around us and failing to demand that government officials of all stripes—the White House, Congress, the courts, the military, law enforcement, the endless parade of bureaucrats, etc.—respect our rights and abide by the rule of law.

The Supreme Court’s refusal to hear the NDAA indefinite detention case—which challenged whether the government can lawfully lock up American citizens who might be deemed extremists or terrorists (the government likes to use these words interchangeably) for criticizing the government—is one such warning sign that we would do well to heed.

The building blocks are already in place for such an eventuality: the surveillance networks, fusion centers and government contractors already monitor what is being said by whom; government databases track who poses a potential threat to the government’s power; the militarized police, working in conjunction with federal agencies, coordinate with the federal government when it’s time to round up the troublemakers; the courts sanction the government’s methods, no matter how unlawful; and the detention facilities, whether private prisons or FEMA internment camps, to lock up the troublemakers.

For those who can read the writing on the wall, it’s all starting to make sense: the military drills carried out in major American cities, the VIPR inspections at train depots and bus stations, the SWAT team raids on unsuspecting homeowners, the Black Hawk helicopters patrolling American skies, the massive ammunition purchases by various federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Education, the IRS and the Social Security Administration.

Viewed in conjunction with the government’s increasing use of involuntary commitment laws to declare individuals mentally ill and lock them up in psychiatric wards for extended periods of time, the NDAA’s provision allowing the military to arrest and indefinitely detain anyone, including American citizens, only codifies this unraveling of our constitutional framework.

Throw in the profit-driven corporate incentive to jail Americans in private prisons, as well as the criminalizing of such relatively innocent activities as holding Bible studies in one’s home or sharing unpasteurized goat cheese with members of one’s community, and it becomes clear that “we the people” have become enemies of the state. Thus, it’s no longer a question of whether the government will lock up Americans for First Amendment activity but when. (It’s particularly telling that the government’s lawyers, when pressed for an assurance that those exercising their First Amendment rights in order to criticize the government would not be targeted under the NDAA, refused to provide one.)

History shows that the U.S. government is not averse to locking up its own citizens for its own purposes. One need only go back to the 1940s, when the federal government proclaimed that Japanese-Americans, labeled potential dissidents, could be put in concentration (a.k.a. internment) camps based only upon their ethnic origin, to see the lengths the federal government will go to in order to maintain “order” in the homeland. The U.S. Supreme Court validated the detention program in Korematsu v. US (1944), concluding that the government’s need to ensure the safety of the country trumped personal liberties. That decision has never been overturned.

In fact, the creation of detention camps domestically has long been part of the government’s budget and operations, falling under the jurisdiction of FEMA, the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA’s murky history dates back to the 1970s, when President Carter created it by way of an executive order merging many of the government’s disaster relief agencies into one large agency. During the 1980s, however, reports began to surface of secret military-type training exercises carried out by FEMA and the Department of Defense. Code named Rex-84, 34 federal agencies, including the CIA and the Secret Service, were trained on how to deal with domestic civil unrest.

FEMA’s role in creating top-secret American internment camps is well-documented. But be careful who you share this information with: it turns out that voicing concerns about the existence of FEMA detention camps is among the growing list of opinions and activities which may make a federal agent or government official think you’re an extremist (a.k.a. terrorist), or sympathetic to terrorist activities, and thus qualify you for indefinite detention under the NDAA. Also included in that list of “dangerous” viewpoints are advocating states’ rights, believing the state to be unnecessary or undesirable, “conspiracy theorizing,” concern about alleged FEMA camps, opposition to war, organizing for “economic justice,” frustration with “mainstream ideologies,” opposition to abortion, opposition to globalization, and ammunition stockpiling.

Now if you’re going to have internment camps on American soil, someone has to build them. Thus, in 2006, it was announced that Kellogg Brown and Root, a subsidiary of Halliburton, had been awarded a $385 million contract to build American detention facilities. Although the government and Halliburton were not forthcoming about where or when these domestic detention centers would be built, they rationalized the need for them in case of “an emergency influx of immigrants, or to support the rapid development of new programs” in the event of other emergencies such as “natural disasters.”

Of course, these detention camps will have to be used for anyone viewed as a threat to the government, and that includes political dissidents. So it’s no coincidence that the U.S. government has, since the 1980s, acquired and maintained, without warrant or court order, a database of names and information on Americans considered to be threats to the nation. As Salon reports, this database, reportedly dubbed “Main Core,” is to be used by the Army and FEMA in times of national emergency or under martial law to locate and round up Americans seen as threats to national security. As of 2008, there were some 8 million Americans in the Main Core database.

Fast forward to 2009, when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released two reports, one on “Rightwing Extremism,” which broadly defines rightwing extremists as individuals and groups “that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely,” and one on “Leftwing Extremism,” which labeled environmental and animal rights activist groups as extremists. Both reports use the words terrorist and extremist interchangeably. That same year, the DHS launched Operation Vigilant Eagle, which calls for surveillance of military veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, characterizing them as extremists and potential domestic terrorist threats because they may be “disgruntled, disillusioned or suffering from the psychological effects of war.”

These reports indicate that for the government, so-called extremism is not a partisan matter. Anyone seen as opposing the government—whether they’re Left, Right or somewhere in between—is a target, which brings us back, full circle, to where we started, with the NDAA’s indefinite detention provision, whose language is so broad and vague as to implicate anyone critical of the government.

Unfortunately, we seem to be coming full circle on many fronts. Consider that a decade ago we were debating whether non-citizens—for example, so-called enemy combatants being held at Guantanamo Bay and Muslim-Americans rounded up in the wake of 9/11—were entitled to protections under the Constitution, specifically as they relate to indefinite detention. Americans weren’t overly concerned about the rights of non-citizens then, and now we’re the ones in the unenviable position of being targeted for indefinite detention by our own government.

Similarly, most Americans weren’t unduly concerned when the U.S. Supreme Court gave Arizona police officers the green light to stop, search and question anyone—ostensibly those fitting a particular racial profile—they suspect might be an illegal immigrant. Two years later, the cops have carte blanche authority to stop any individual, citizen and non-citizen alike, they suspect might be doing something illegal (mind you, in this age of overcriminalization, that could be anything from feeding the birds to growing exotic orchids).

Likewise, you still have a sizeable portion of the population today unconcerned about the government’s practice of spying on Americans, having been brainwashed into believing that if you’re not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about. It will only be a matter of time before they learn the hard way that in a police state, it doesn’t matter who you are or how righteous you claim to be—eventually, you will be lumped in with everyone else and everything you do will be “wrong” and suspect.

Martin Niemoller learned that particular lesson the hard way. A German military officer turned theologian, Niemoller was an early supporter of Hitler’s rise to power. It was only when Hitler threatened to attack the churches that Niemoller openly opposed the regime. For his efforts, Neimoller was arrested, charged with activities against the government, fined, detained, and eventually interned in the Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration camps from 1938 to 1945.

As Niemoller reportedly replied when asked by his cellmate why he ever supported the Nazi party:

• I find myself wondering about that too. I wonder about it as much as I regret it. Still, it is true that Hitler betrayed me… Hitler promised me on his word of honor, to protect the Church, and not to issue any anti-Church laws. He also agreed not to allow pogroms against the Jews… Hitler’s assurance satisfied me at the time…I am paying for that mistake now; and not me alone, but thousands of other persons like me.

The Planned Liberal-Driven (Progressive) Destruction of American Capitalism and Freedom

To read the story of the Roman Republic turned Empire is to read the general history of mankind in a kaleidoscope of greed, ambition and the lust for power, wealth and political influence at the expense of the masses.  All of Roman history was well-known to the Founding Fathers and they were determined to set up a system of government containing several checks and balances to preclude the repeat of the sordid Roman tragedy.  Within the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution, the framers thought they had found that delicate balance between self-government and the weaknesses and avarice of man.

Unfortunately, in their attempts to find that perfect balance, they were tripped up by three things they could not control within those two documents.   The first was the ability of a clever and devious mind to get around any obstacle.  Why would men of power, wealth and political influence care about the limits of a little blueprint for freedom?  The rise of the industrialist titans and money-brokers of the late 19^th and early 20^th Centuries proved that.  It is rumored that a cabal of those titans had President McKinley assassinated.  It is not a rumor that J.P. Morgan II loaned $100 million to the federal government because it had run out of money.  (Imagine a government running out of money.  How can that be?)  You can buy a lot of political influence with $100 million.  What is $100 million in the early 20^th Century worth today ….. $100 Billion, maybe?

The second thing the Founding Fathers didn’t count on was the industrial revolution that pulled people from the rural areas of America into big cities.  Rural people are generally self-reliant, self-sufficient and quite independent.  If they can’t buy their food, they at least can grow it.  But people who live in big cities, without employment, have no choice but to rely on government for their subsistence.  In point of fact, people in big cities, where most Progressives live (100% Democrats), become hopelessly dependent on government, especially when large industries go broke and the jobs dry up.  Unfortunately, poor, dependent, unemployed people are easily manipulated by government and will enthusiastically vote for their manipulators. 

The third thing the Founding Fathers were not able to weave into the U.S. Constitution was a check and balance against citizen apathy.  If the citizens don’t care, those in power can do just about anything they want when no one is paying attention, and, ladies and gentlemen, those in power are doing just about anything they want to do today with increased militarization of law enforcement.  It is called a police state and America has arrived(i.e., Randy Weaver, Ruby Ridge, ID; the Branch Dividian, Waco, TX; Cliven Bundy, Clark County, NV; and many more).

Herein lie the three necessary ingredients for the rise to power of the Progressives (100% Democrats) in the early 20^th Century.  First, the industrialist titans grossly exploited the people in their factories.  The people, quite naturally, turned to the unions and the government to counter the titans’ power.  Out of that confrontation came riots, violence and upheaval and a heavier intrusion by government into people’s lives.  Perhaps this wasn’t a bad thing, but don’t think for one minute that the Progressives (100% Democrats) didn’t see that as an opportunity to increase their political power.

The titans moved to entrench their political power and lobbied for a private central bank that become the Federal Reserve under the 16^th Amendment.  To collateralize the loans the titans (central bankers) would make to government, they lobbied for a federal income tax to be the source of repayment for those loans and got it.  The income tax also became law under the 16^th Amendment, in direct violation of three other constitutional provisions that required all taxes to be apportioned.  Thus, the income produced by every American worker, for his or her entire lifetime, was the source of repayment for the loans made by the Federal Reserve to the Government.  In other words, each citizen, an involuntary borrower, has a lifetime obligation to pay for a loan or loans over which that citizen never signed.  That, as we have stated before, is involuntary servitude.

Unfortunately, for American capitalism and freedom, it gets worse.  The Progressives (100% Democrats), determined to consolidate their power, turned to monetary and other promises to the people from the public treasury in exchange for votes.  What a brilliant strategy.  This ploy especially works well with citizens who are apathetic, dependent on government, or just generally dumb.  There are certain classes of society that are more susceptible to this dependency than other classes.

Then in the late 20′s and early 30′s came the Great Depression that many historians put directly at the feet of the Federal Reserve, and you have the makings of a perfect storm for Progressives (100% Democrats).  FDR (a 100% Democrat) pounced on the Great Depression with a vengeance and he literally sucked dry the pride, self-reliance and independence of a very large segment of the American people with government promises.  He bought off industry with subsidies.  He bought off agriculture with subsidies and he bought off the people with even more subsidies.  He then, to insure compliance with federal law, bought off the states with their own money.  To do it, he threw the constitution out the window and badgered the legislative and judicial branches of government to get what he wanted.  Some call FDR a hero.  We call him the second dictator of a rapidly-declining America, where President Wilson was the first.  Government has been buying off business, agriculture, the people and the states ever since, with disastrous results.

The Progressives (100% Democrats) over the last 100+ years got their way, and the statistics tell the whole story.  Way too many Americans have been bought off by government promises in exchange for their votes and will not bite the hand that feeds them.  The capital necessary for a robust economy has been sucked out of that economy to pay for those promises.  The promises have been so many that the country is now in a financial death spiral and there are no political solutions to bring America back from the abyss.  ObamaCare just poured more fuel on the financial fires, thereby securing our path straight to hell. 

The statistics don’t lie.  In an article at the CNS News website (http://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/terence-p-jeffrey/86m-full-time-private-sector-workers-sustain-148m-benefit-takers) dated April 16, 2014, where we are as a country and where we are going is laid out succinctly in revealing statistics.  There is no turning back.

In the opening paragraph of the article, the author makes the following statement:

“Buried deep on the website of the U.S. Census Bureau is a number every American citizen, and especially those entrusted with public office, should know. It is 86,429,000.  That is the number of Americans who in 2012 got up every morning and went to work — in the private sector — and did it week after week after week.”  (This number represents only private sector jobs, not government jobs, which private sector jobs ultimately pay for.)

However, that paragraph, in and of itself, is not the whole picture.  The rest of the story from the article goes like this:

“All told, including both the welfare recipients and the non-welfare beneficiaries, there were 151,014,000 who “received benefits from one or more programs” in the fourth quarter of 2011.  Subtract the 3,212,000 veterans, who served their country in the most profound way possible, and that leaves 147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers.  The 147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers outnumbered the 86,429,000 full-time private sector workers 1.7 to 1.”

The problem, and the reason why America’s path is unsustainable and unresolvable at the same time, is that those 147,802,000 people get to vote.  If the 86,429,000 people get angry and lobby their Congressmen and Senators to stop this government-instituted grand theft and Ponzi scheme, they are outvoted by the 147,802,000.  And guess what?  The Progressives (100% Democrats) have known this would happen at the start of the 20^th Century, over 100 years ago.  It’s just another repeat of the history of socialism.

There is more than one way to change a Republic to an Empire, and you don’t have to use force to do it.  You just have to manipulate the apathetic, weak and dumb masses to give up their freedom for 30 pieces of silver in exchange for a vote for the Progressives (100% Democrats), who brought this non-violent coup d’etat upon America and killed capitalism and freedom at the same time.  Progressives (100% Democrats) have managed to kill all of the attributes of a free and generous nation, in a little over 100 years, and very few Americans are aware of it, or don’t care.  Obama didn’t cause it.  He is just the latest facilitator, complicit with all the other Progressives (100% Democrats).

The rise of the Progressives (100% Democrats) in America, the head-long rush to socialism, the growth of the mega, out-of-control bureaucracies and the implementation of radical environmentalism into law, has morphed America into a mirror image of Rome, with all of the potential tragic consequences.

Like all giant bureaucracies, Rome became inflexible and could not adapt to new ideas and new processes.  It had built up a society that the government created by providing bread, wine and entertainment to the people for free, to keep the people fat, dumb and happy.  All Rome could do to maintain the status quo and fulfill their promises to the people so they wouldn’t riot and preserve their own elite power structure was to regulate more and tax more, a self-fulfilling prophecy to destruction.  Rome didn’t necessarily buy votes with the public treasury; they bought the perception of tranquility.  If you don’t see the parallel between the Rome Republic (turned empire) and the American Republic turned socialist and eventually an empire, you just aren’t paying attention to the irrefutable facts.  Once a government, conceived in liberty, starts buying votes, the Republic has no chance of survival as a free nation and will eventually morph into an oligarchy of the elite or an outright dictatorship, as did Rome after 500 years as a Republic.  How far away is America from one of these freedom-ending scenarios?

Buy a vote – kill a Republic!  It is a foregone conclusion.  Buying votes with welfare was never authorized by the U.S. Constitution.  It was imputed there by the oligarchs in government in each political cycle on America’s path to socialism.  Socialism has never worked in all of human history, but you can’t tell that to a Progressive (100% Democrat).

The solution to this apparently unsolvable dilemma lies in the answer to the question, “Where is John Galt?”  Those of you who have read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” will get it.

Here's something that ALL, and I do mean 'all' Tea Parties can get behind and promote. Granted, everyone needs to consider it worthwhile first, but I am confident that not one TEA PARTY group could deny supporting this (except for the 1 or 2 insignificant Tea Parties set-up by the Left to distract and confuse).

I'm going to make this very short... Almost all modern-day Tea Party groups point to the now famous Boston Tea Party of 1773, as their example for pushing back against unfair government taxes. Thereby giving us Taxed Enough Already as the proper battle-cry. Due to politics, Tea Parties have had to take on many issues in addition to the Taxing issues so they find themselves struggling at times for a single issue for Tea Party members to get behind. However, I believe someone has come up with an idea that is PERFECT FOR ALL TEA PARTIES! Before I go on and on about the possibilities that the following idea touches, I think its only fair that everyone read it first. I'm convinced that your TP Leaders will see the logic, and the implications for TP involvement to help push the following.

We seem, as a nation to just forget about history. One of the problems is that we don't teach any real history anymore, The men and women that founded or country were people that desired to allow  Jesus Christ to have a great part in everything they did. Prayer was important in each decision that was made. While all of those involved did not see eye to eye on every detail about their spiritual  lives they did at least recognize the existence and power of an almighty God, This country was, in our way of speaking, peppered with word of God, It was the salt of the earth, That salt today has lost it's savor and our strength has been diminished because of that great loss. In those days even those people that did not acknowledge Jesus Christ still reverenced his authority and basic involvement in day to day activities.

Even if they completely denied Him they did not stop the people that did believe from worshiping Him in open assembly.

We have lost that concept in our nation we are dearly paying a price for it. Our Churches have created a jesus christ that is closer to what they think he should be like , rather than just trusting the one we see in the word of God. We call that Christianity and you do not have to be born- again to be a member of it

Most of the real men that use to stand behind our pulpits has sold out for the love of money and that is their basic god. The problem is most of them don't even know it. They still think that have the power of God but because of the religious dogma in most churches God, like Elvis has left the building.

He standing outside knocking at the door and saying ( IF ANY MAN WILL ANSWER I WILL COME IN  AND SUP WITH HIM AND HE WITH ME,) but most churches won't let Him in.

It's awfully bad to be deceived by a friend, a parent, a spouse or anyone we might think of but we get to the place that we are deceiving ourselves, now that really bad, When we will not look at ourselves and see truth about ourselves we are in real trouble. It's always easy to see what somebody else needs to do to make things better but what do (I) need to do.

Our churches are full of people but we can't get one person to run on a platform that if he is elected one of the first things he will do is say (LET US PRAY TO AND END IT IN JESUS NAME) You might say that against the law, so you mean to tell me you are going to Washington and not change any of the laws? My point is folks we must open our eyes to what is really needed in our country and it is not more laws. Do you remember a man called the Apostle Paul, a man that stood against a whole world of religious people and still, basically all by himself preached Jesus Christ and Him crucified? Do you remember him?

We have Christian universities all across this country. Where are the men and women that graduate from them each year.? What has happen to us as a nation? Who are we? Nehemiah went back to Jerusalem and viewed the destruction and dropped to his knees and prayed( my God) and went about even to the place of holding a weapon in one hand and working with the other, We have become our own worst enemies and the majority of the worst of us is sitting on a church pew every Sunday morning. Our sons are drunks ,our daughters are whores or worse an we act like we are God's gift to humanity. If our spirituality was dynamite. we wouldn't have enough to blow the fuss of a peanut.

People we live in a world of our own. We think we can close our eyes to truth, vote some man or woman into office and fix our problems but we are the problem. Each one of us have a responsibility and are part of what has happen to our nation because we have forgotten God Almighty and have set back on our stool of do nothing and lost a nation. We are so lazy  and irresponsible that we expect our children to pay for our pleasures and let us just ride into eternity on a gravy train. Guess what. we can do that but even in eternity we will be held accountable. Our children will be slaves to someone and their children will as well but we will pay for our transgressions even if it's in eternity, you just wait and see.

What if we like it or not, when we call ourselves (Christians) we are the ones that have dropped the ball. Our pastors, deacon, bishops and any church leader you can think of are responsible the  fall of a nation. We have been very comfortable just allowing ourselves to be religious in our own eyes and never even ask God or His Son Jesus Christ what he thought about what we were doing. It's a tough pill to swallow but until we open our spiritual eyes and ears as believers we will continue to slid down the slope of destruction.

Even though she has actually never played football at any level from grade school up and never run the offense of any team or played the game.

During this period of time, she became familiar with the definition of a corner blitz, the nickel package, and man-to-man coverage, so she is now completely comfortable with all the other terminology involving the Packers offense. A survey of Packers fans shows that 50% of those polled supported the move.

Does this sound idiotic and unbelievable or familiar to you??   Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be the President and 50% of  Democrats polled agreed.

She has never run a city, county, or state during her "career" of being Bill Clinton's wife. When told Hillary Clinton has experience because she has 8 years in the White House, my immediate thought was "So has the pastry chef".

When it comes to running the State Department, her biggest achievement was getting a US Ambassador and 3 other Americans killed, by pretending terrorism had been defeated.

erupted in the Philippines in 1991, it spewed out more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere than

Of course, I shouldn't spoil this 'touchy-feely tree-hugging' moment and mention the effect of solar and cosmic

completely insignificant efforts to affect climate change.

And I do wish I had a silver lining to this volcanic ash cloud, but the fact of the matter is that the bush fire

season across the western USA and Australia this year alone will negate your efforts to reduce carbon in our

world for the next two to three years. And it happens every year.

Just remember that your government just tried to impose a whopping carbon tax on you, on the basis

of the bogus 'human-caused' climate-change scenario.

Hey, isn’t it interesting how they don’t mention 'Global Warming' anymore, but just 'Climate Change'-

you know why? It’s because the planet has COOLED by 0.7 degrees in the past century and these global

warming bull artists got caught with their pants down.

And, just keep in mind that you might yet have an Emissions Trading Scheme - that whopping new tax -

imposed on you that will achieve absolutely nothing except make you poorer.  It won’t stop any volcanoes

from erupting, that’s for sure.

June 6, 2013, Obama was doing ANOTHER fund raiser with the multimillionaires in the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee in Palo Alto CA, once again at our expense.

America - Aren't you proud? Remember this is the same Muslim that was running for president and would not salute the flag during the national anthem because he did not want to take sides !

Helping Patients

This column is not about Obamacare per se, but you can’t talk about patients without discussing Obamacare. I have voted to repeal Obamacare and will vote to repeal it again. I have also been active on the health care front in an effort to protect people from Obamacare.

Notwithstanding my desire to repeal Obamacare, I have been seeking to advance legislation that would help patients receive quality, affordable health care that meets that patient’s individual health care needs. Here is a brief rundown of the bills I have introduced to that end since I was named to the Health Subcommittee in December of 2012:

Introduced in May of last year with Congressman Scott Peters (D-CA) and Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), the bipartisan Patient Choice Act (H.R. 2090) would speed up the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of drugs, giving patients suffering from terminal diseases the option to purchase these new, innovative therapies at their own expense much sooner than the current approval process allows. The Patient Choice Act would give patients facing difficult situations towards the end of their lives more control over their own medical decisions. Why should the federal government interfere if a patient whose doctors have told them that the end of life is nearing wishes to spend his/her own money on an experimental treatment plan that may not yet have made it through the FDA’s lengthy approval process?

The Compassionate Freedom of Choice Act (H.R. 4475), which I introduced in April, would also empower patients battling deadly diseases with more control over their health care decisions. Specifically, my legislation would allow terminally ill patients to use drugs, treatments, and devices that have not yet been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) if their physicians certify that such patients have no other treatment options and the patient gives written, informed consent that they are aware of any potentials risks of the treatment. Again, I ask: for patients whose doctors have exhausted current medical options and the patient has been told that the end of life is nearing, why should the government in Washington care what treatment the patient may choose? The FDA was created to protect us from harmful drugs. If I'm dying anyway, shouldn't I have the freedom to decide if the risk is worth it?

While I support repealing Obamacare, I believe it is wrong to take away the Black Lung benefit improvements included in Obamacare as amendments. To ensure that these benefits can be kept when Obamacare is repealed or when it collapses, I introduced H.R. 3162, which would keep intact the amendments that were made to the Black Lung Benefits Act as part of the health care law.

Most recently I introduced H.R. 4489, the Legitimate Use of Medicinal Marijuana Act (LUMMA). This bill would reclassify marijuana from a Schedule I drug to a Schedule II drug (allowing for more research on its risks/benefits), and would also prohibit the federal government from preventing the prescription, possession, transportation, and distribution of marijuana for medical purposes in compliance with applicable state law such as the Virginia medicinal marijuana law that has been on the books since 1979. LUMMA does not involve the recreational use of marijuana – which I oppose – but instead would put marijuana in the same category as drugs like codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, and others which are currently accepted for medical use. There are reports of marijuana’s medicinal benefits in treating cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, etc. Isn’t it cruel to not research this further, and cruel to not allow real doctors, real drug companies, and real pharmacists to use marijuana for legitimate medical reasons for real patients?

In addition to the bills mentioned above, I have cosponsored 20 bills introduced by other representatives that I believe advance my goal of helping patients. Among those is the Veterans Timely Access to Health Care Act (H.R. 241) introduced by Congressman Dennis Ross (R-FL), which would see that veterans seeking care from Department of Veterans Affairs medical facilities are given an appointment within 30 days.

I will continue to work on additional legislation that will help patients receive health care in a doctor-patient-driven system.

She said if a solar energy project is expected to impact thousands of acres of desert land in the state, federal rules would require a mitigation zone, where animals that may be protected or endangered could be moved from the project site.

As WND reported, the BLM has mentioned Bundy’s cattle and the grazing land he uses in connected with solar power projects.

Pirro said “Dirty Harry” had been watching federal land being transferred and used for shopping malls and other projects for years until the “armed military type agents came in like stormtroopers.”

Pirro explained a solar project proposed on nearby land by a Chinese company with links to Reid would require that mitigation area.

“The BLM actually posted documents designating the mitigation area so that the solar power project can move forward,” she reported. “Unfortunately, that designated mitigation area has cattle on it.

(May 3, 2014) — In her opening monologue on Saturday evening, “Justice with Judge Jeanine” anchor Jeanine Pirro called for the impeachment of Barack Hussein Obama for dereliction of duty, violation of his oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution and protect the American people, and for defending Islam after four Americans were “left to die” in Benghazi, Libya on September 11, 2012.

In an approximately 12-minute-long soliloquy, Pirro excoriated the Obama regime for misrepresenting the cause of the terrorist attack which killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other public servants after Islamic militants attacked a U.S. compound which was under-protected according to State Department standards.

Pirro reminded her audience that President William Jefferson Clinton was “impeached” for lying about his relationship with Monica Lewinsky and that President Richard M. Nixon was impeached for lying about a burglary.

Pirro’s first guest was Tom Fitton, head of Judicial Watch, which obtained incriminating emails through a lawsuit in federal court after the Obama regime refused to turn them over through a FOIA request.  Fitton’s perseverance resulted in the release of dozens of emails which are being termed “the smoking gun” showing that political motivations caused the regime to blame the attack on an obscure internet video and trot out then-U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on five Sunday talk shows to repeat the lie to the American public.

David Hunt appeared as a guest after Fitton and said that Obama “never gave the order” for military intervention to be staged, but Hunt said that the four Americans killed could have been saved.  “We were never given the chance” to mount a rescue operation, Hunt said.

Pirro also claimed that the White House might have “altered documents” to hide the truth from the public about aspects of the Benghazi attack which could have been damaging to Obama politically.

Obama was first elected president on a platform of “hope and change.”

Writing for The New York Post, Kenneth Timmerman stated earlier on Saturday that “Benghazi is the scandal they always denied it was.“

On Friday, Speaker of the House John Boehner, who was roundly criticized by many for hesitating to approve a Select Committee to investigate the events surrounding the Benghazi attack, announced that a House vote had been held and opted to form the committee to be chaired by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC4), a former federal prosecutor known as having “taken no prisoners.”

Gowdy has stated that he has “proof” that the regime has engaged in “a systematic, intentional decision to withhold certain documents from Congress”relating to the Benghazi attack.

On Wednesday evening, former White House national security spokesman Tommy Vietor told fox News anchor Bret Baier that Obama was not present in “the Situation Rom” as video and other information came in from a circling drone overhead the Benghazi attack zone.  Neither Obama nor anyone else in the regime has stated where Obama was that evening.

Last May, CDR Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, III (Ret.) declared Obama guilty of dereliction of duty, stating that the president and commander-in-chief is expected to “be on watch” at all times, regardless of the circumstances.  On March 17, 2009, Fitzpatrick accused Obama of treason in a formal criminal complaint to the FBI, U.S. attorney for his district, and with the U.S. District Court in Washington, DC, none of whom took action.  “We’ve been talking about treason for a long time,” Fitzpatrick said in last year’s report.

A researcher interviewed by The Post & Email last month has reported that evidence she has gathered shows that Obama was likely in the White House, as Vietor contended, but attending a fundraiser in the West Wing.

Rep. Jason Chaffetz told Pirro that he believes that there are “different redactions” between documents shown to Congress and provided to Judicial Watch as a result of its lawsuit.

Chaffetz stated that Rep. Darrell Issa, chairman of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has subpoenaed Secretary of State John Kerry for the original documents in question.

Pirro suggested that “a real prosecutor” should be procured who will not allow officials to “dance” under questioning.

Regarding altered documents, the long-form birth certificate posted on the White House website was declared a “computer-generated forgery” more than two years ago, but the media failed to investigate or report it over the airwaves. The Maricopa County Cold Case Posse has been attempting to convince Congress to open its own investigation, but to the public’s knowledge, it has not been done.

For the last five years, anyone questioning Obama’s legitimacy, allegiance, life narrative, birthplace, missing documentation or truthfulness was labeled “racist,” “birther,” “seditionist,” or “traitor,” among other things.  Researchers and journalists investigating the questions surrounding Obama’s background have been threatened, harassed, had their websites and emails hacked, and received threats to their careers and, in some cases, their lives.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has discovered that at least several Obama paid operatives are employed at DARPA, a division of the Department of Defense.  Arpaio is expected to give a press conference in the near future to release “universe-shattering” information.

Mike Volin of WheresObamasBirthCertificate.com has reported that several congressmen are “on board” with the concept of publicizing the birth certificate forgery and that of Obama’s purported Selective Service registration form which the posse also analyzed and declared fraudulent.

Some are still defending the Obama regime’s response to the Benghazi attack by stating that Ben Rhodes’ email simply affirmed the CIA’s stated “talking points” about how the attack occurred.

Amidst new revelations concerning emails that show the Obama administration conspired to create a phony narrative around the Benghazi attacks, the true purpose behind the cover-up is being obfuscated – the fact that an annex near the U.S. embassy was being used by the CIA to transfer surface to air missiles to terrorists in Syria.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa today issued a subpoena for Secretary of State John Kerry to testify before the committee on May 21 about Benghazi following the release of emails by Judicial Watch which show that the White House crafted a deceptive policy to falsely frame the attack as a spontaneous protest sparked by a YouTube video in order to protect Barack Obama’s image.

Lost in the haze of claims and counter claims is the real reason why the White House is desperate to prevent the attack from coming under any further scrutiny – because it would likely reveal an arms smuggling scandal that could rival Iran-Contra.

In May last year, Senator Rand Paul was one of the first to speculate that the truth behind Benghazi was linked to an illicit arms smuggling program that saw weapons being trafficked to terrorists in Syria as part of the United States’ proxy war against the Assad regime.

“I’ve actually always suspected that, although I have no evidence, that maybe we were facilitating arms leaving Libya going through Turkey into Syria,” Paul told CNN, adding that he “never….quite understood the cover-up — if it was intentional or incompetence”.

At the same time it emerged that the U.S. State Department had hired an Al-Qaeda offshoot organization, the February 17^th Martyrs Brigade, to “defend” the Benghazi Mission months before the attack.

Senator Paul was vindicated less than three months later when it emerged that the CIA had been subjecting its operatives to monthly polygraph tests in an effort to keep a lid on details of the arms smuggling operation being leaked.

On August 1, CNN reported that dozens of CIA agents were on the ground in Benghazi during the attack and that the polygraph tests were mandated in order to prevent operatives from talking to Congress or the media about a program that revolved around “secretly helping to move surface-to-air missiles out of Libya, through Turkey, and into the hands of Syrian rebels.”

Although the Obama administration is now openly arming the Syrian rebels, it has been keen to stress that such weaponry has been restricted to so-called “moderate” fighters, despite the fact that it is now widely acknowledged that Al-Qaeda is by far the most potent fighting force in Syria and indeed commands all the other militant groups.

The real truth behind Benghazi is likely to reveal that the Obama administration knowingly and deliberately provided surface to air missiles and other weapons to the most bloodthirsty Al-Qaeda jihadists in Syria who are now busy crucifying Christians while promising to bring their reign of terror to the west.

If a proper investigation into the Benghazi attacks uncovered concrete evidence of this arms smuggling scandal, Obama would face impeachment and many members of his administration would be facing long stretches in prison.

That’s the real reason why the White House is desperate to bury Benghazi.

It’s the most powerful agency you’ve never heard of—at least, until recently. 

The Bureau of Land Management, the nation’s biggest landlord, found itself in the spotlight after a high-profile brawl with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and another dispute with state officials over the Texas-Oklahoma borderlands. 

But the seemingly obscure agency, which is in charge of millions of acres of public land, is no stranger to controversy. History shows the power struggle over property rights and land use is one that’s been fought—fiercely—ever since the bureau was created. 

In the nearly seven decades of its existence, the BLM has struggled to find its footing and exert its power, pitted against a vocal states’ rights movement. 

“The federal government already owns too much land,” Texas Gov. Rick Perry, one of the champions of that modern-day movement, recently told Fox News. He called for the federal government, and by extension the BLM, to “divest itself of a huge amount of this landholdings that it has across the country.” 

The Bureau of Land Management was formed in 1946, consolidating two now-extinct agencies into one for the purpose of overseeing public land. In the beginning, the BLM mostly focused on livestock and mines. Its mission shifted, though, in the 1970s when it took on the role of mediator between commerce and conservation, and faced a second identity crisis in the 1980s. That’s when the so-called Sagebrush Rebellion gained new momentum in its push to return control of federal lands to individual states. 

That “rebellion” may be underway once again, as states renew concerns about the amount of land controlled by the BLM. Congress also recently weighed in, with House lawmakers passing a bill in February that would prevent the BLM from buying new land. 

Currently, the agency, which falls under the purview of the U.S. Department of Interior, oversees 247.3 million acres—or about one-eighth of the land in the country. 

It also owns 700 million acres of on-shore federal mineral estates. 

The BLM is responsible for managing a large spectrum of natural resources. The federal agency regulates logging, mining and fracking practices across the country. It also administers close to 18,000 permits and leases a year held by ranchers who graze their livestock on land managed by the federal government. The permits and leases they issue usually last a decade and can be renewed. 

In 2009, regulation of public lands in Western states generated $6.2 billion. 

By acreage, the agency’s largest stake is in Alaska where it owns 72.4 million acres. Nevada ranks second, with 48 million acres under the BLM, and then Utah, with 22.9 million acres. 

In Nevada, rancher Cliven Bundy’s recent refusal to hand over his family’s cattle to the feds re-ignited the national debate over the BLM’s power. 

On the heels of that controversy, more than 50 lawmakers from nine Western states came together to protest federal land expansion. The state leaders discussed ways to combine their joint goals of taking control of oil-, timber- and mineral-rich lands away from the federal government. 

“It’s so much bigger than Bundy. There are issues ... all across the West where the federal government is exerting control over things it was never supposed to control,” Utah state Rep. Ken Ivory told Fox News. “The federal government was supposed to be a trustee. They do own the land. They do hold title to the land in trust ... but they have a duty to dispose of the land with all states east of Colorado.” 

Ivory says he wants the federal government to keep a promise it made in the 1894 Enabling Act that made Utah a state. He argues that public lands, except for congressionally designated national parks and wilderness areas, should be transferred back to the states. 

So far, state lawmakers in Idaho, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington are looking for ways to transfer land management back to the states. 

Utah, though, has been the most successful. Lawmakers there passed a measure demanding the federal government extinguish title to federal lands, aside from national parks. Ivory was also the primary backer of the 2012 Transfer of Public Lands Act which established a model for the transfer of certain federal lands to the state in the coming years. 

The Bundy case has been largely viewed as the first leadership test for new BLM Director Neil Kornze, who was confirmed by the U.S. Senate and sworn into office in April. The local land-use dust-up fed into a growing apprehension over just how much authority the BLM has and how far it is willing to go to maintain control. 

In Texas, Attorney General Greg Abbott sent a letter to Kornze looking into allegations the BLM was eyeing a massive land grab in northern Texas. “Decisions of this magnitude must not be made inside a bureaucratic black box,” wrote Abbott, a GOP gubernatorial candidate. 

The agency indicated that the land in question was determined to be public property. “The BLM is categorically not expanding Federal holdings along the Red River,” a BLM spokeswoman said in a written statement. 

Attention on the Bundy-BLM battle has lately turned to racially insensitive remarks that Bundy made in several media interviews and appearances. 

Conservative and libertarian lawmakers like Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, initially came to Bundy’s defense, calling his situation the latest example of big government overreach.  Both, though, have since scaled back their comments in light of Bundy’s remarks. 

“Senator Paul spoke out against federal over-regulation and BLM handling of a situation,” Paul spokesman Doug Stafford said in a written statement. “He has never spoken to or met Mr. Bundy and is not responsible for the vile comments that come out of his mouth.” 

Others say Bundy was at fault, failing to pay $1.1 million in fees for letting his cattle graze on government grass for more than two decades. 

“I wish Mr. Bundy would mind his law requirements and not try to play to the television cameras about confronting the evil federal government,” former BLM director Patrick Shea told KSL TV. Shea has been on both sides of the land-use debate. He represented activist Tim DeChristopher who took on the BLM over the 2008 sale of controversial oil and gas leases in Utah. 

The BLM has run into trouble elsewhere.

According to Michigan Public Radio (1), the ruling could ban all chickens, goats, honey bees and other animals from farms which have another residential house less than 250 feet away.

Some homesteaders in Michigan could find themselves in a complete regulatory limbo because of the Commission’s action. Blogger, writer and organic farmer Michelle Regalado Deatrick does not know if she’ll be able to keep her livestock, because about half of her 80-acre farm may not be zoned for farm animals.

“We’re building up a mixed production farm, planning to farm during retirement, and we have a permit in hand for a livestock facility,” Deatrick said, “...Now we’re having to reconsider our business plans and may sell the farm and buy a farm in a more rural area with definite [Right To Farm] protection, or move to another state that’s more welcoming and protective of small farm rights.”

Michigan DNR previously ordered small local farmer to shoot his own pigs

Michigan is the same state where the DNR (Department of Natural Resources) ordered one small, local farmer to shoot all his pigs because they were the wrong “race” of pigs. This genocidal demand by the Michigan state government echoes a tyrannical anti-farming agenda at the highest levels of state government.

Michigan is also the state where Julie Bass of Oak Park was threatened with jail time for teaching her children how to grow vegetables in their own home garden. All charges against Julie were later dropped after Natural News and other independent news sources publicly shamed Oak Park bureaucrats into backing down.

Nationwide, people who attempt to grow their own food are routinely threatened with arrest and fines. One woman in Oklahoma suffered the complete destruction of her medicinal herb landscaping by local city officials who raided her home garden while she was away.

Just a reminder, NLCS stands for National Landscape Conservation System, which is basically the best of the public lands held by BLM.

As usual, I’ve underlined words or phrases in the text which could prove to be noteworthy. Some of the underlined text could be problematic in the following ways, as well as others:

The stated willingness of BLM to tackle initiatives on an international scale if needed is an open invitation to UN involvement in the control of our domestic lands. The treatment of “ongoing global climate change” as a fact not only exposes a potential predetermined BLM/Federal Government agenda, but calls into question the legitimacy of any report upon which it is included as a foundational component.

Cross-jurisdictional landscape connectivity would be an effective means by which to place large tracts of American land off-limits to the American people and the extensive wildlife-habitat corridors would be one way to help facilitate that takeover. BLM’s willingness to “help lead the charge” could be an indicator that such a is already well under way.

Note that they address and seem to expect major funding increases, recommending that the increases be spread over a five year period based upon growing into the new budget. A gradual increase would also be less controversial and less likely to be noticed by the American public.

Further, the BLM, with its extensive experience in public participation and land-use planning, coupled with the breadth of the public lands and their critical resources, stands ready with the expertise and the unparalleled capacity to coordinate with other Federal, State and Tribal governments to tackle initiatives on a national (and even international) scale. In particular, ongoing global climate change has elevated the importance of nascent efforts to focus on cross-jurisdictional landscape connectivity and to create extensive wildlife-habitat corridors. The BLM hopes to participate fully in the effort, and to help lead the charge.

IV. Necessary Funding: Preliminary Cost Estimates

Implementing BLM’s three-part Treasured Landscapes vision will require an increased investment of resources.

Over the past 10 years, funding to protect and manage lands with natural and cultural resources for use and enjoyment by current and future generations has generally remained flat when adjusted for inflation. At the same time, the West is rapidly urbanizing and the public and local governments increasingly view BLM-administered public lands as an extension of their backyards. BLM lands contribute significantly to the quality of life in the West. Taking into account the increased demands on the public lands, the BLM believes the full cost of managing Treasured Landscapes at a level commensurate with public expectations and need for conservation would be in the range of $2 to $4 per acre.

The BLM manages NLCS units for $2.21 per acre and the rest of public lands at $1.70 per acre, totaling $59.7 million for NLCS units and $187.4 million for other Treasured Landscapes in 2010. The BLM has demonstrated that the NLCS model for conservation is significantly cost efficient in protecting landscape level resources. For example, the National Park Service operates and manages units comparatively for an average of $9.57 per acre management cost. At $4 per acre, existing and potential NLCS units could be funded for a total of $248 million by the year 2015. Other specially designated areas and habitat vital for species recovery within the BLM could be managed for $2 per acre, totaling $150.4 million by the year 2015.

The BLM recommends that any major funding increases be phased in over a five-year period to allow the BLM time to build capacity (e.g. hiring staff, developing partnerships, and processing requisitions) in order to accomplish the increased workload. This would include increased law enforcement and protection activities, expanded resource restoration and conservation activities, improved visitor services, information, education and interpretation and other activities needed to meet the increasing public demand and expectations for conservation. By the year 2015, funding for Treasured Landscapes would total $398.4 million. Projected funding needs for managing both the NLCS and other lands comprising the BLM’s Treasured Landscapes are presented in the table below by subactivity.
