“TAKING A LONG WALK OFF A SHORT PIER, POINT LOMA — It wasn’t supposed to go down like this. When San Diego’s High Tech High International was named as one of six candidates nationwide to receive a commencement address from president Barack Obama this year, it was supposed to be a validation of how far the fledgling school had come in its first decade of existence. Chief administrative officer Ben Daley boasted that the selection proved the value of his school’s emphasis on “producing meaningful work for a real audience — making things that have lasting value and presenting them to professionals in the field.”

Now, he may be wishing that his students had kept their latest class project to themselves. In a good-natured effort to sweeten the pot for the president prior to his final decision, High Tech High seniors Ramesh Bhangoo and Christina Rivera decided to subject Obama’s recently-released “long-form” birth certificate to the sort of typographic scrutiny given to the so-called “Killian documents” that ultimately led to the resignation/retirement of CBS reporter Dan Rather.

“Remember how the right-wing wackos went nuts in 2004 over those documents that showed how Bush was basically AWOL from the Texas National Guard in the ’70s?” asks Bhangoo. “That guy at Little Green Footballs posted that gif file showing how a memo supposedly typed 30 years ago matched up to a Microsoft Word doc with proportionally spaced font. Of course, they didn’t actually prove that the documents were forgeries, but the fallout was enough to take down Rather, and the whole mess probably helped Bush win in ’04.”

“All this ‘birther’ bullshit sounded like more of the same to us,” adds Rivera. “We knew that the people who believed that Obama was born in Kenya — and that his Hawaiian birth certificate was a fake, and that he therefore had no constitutional right to be president — wouldn’t be convinced by this long-form release. When you’re crazy, you’re crazy, and you can always find a way to justify your craziness. But we figured it couldn’t hurt to at least head them off on this whole typography question. Here at High Tech High, we knew we had the equipment, the training, and the critical thinking skills required to do just that.”

“Yeah, we did,” concluded Bhangoo. “Damn it.”

The title of the students’ report on their work says it all: “Say It Ain’t So: An Inquiry into the Validity of ‘President’ Obama’s Long-Form Birth Certificate.” “We tried to think like the nutjobs,” recalls Rivera.

“We started by asking why they inserted the green-pattern background underneath the original text. Then we started looking for other obvious oddities. Long story short — yeah, this is kind of a fake.”

“You don’t really have to look further than the child’s name,” says Bhangoo. “The way the ‘r’ in ‘Barack’ differs in all sorts of ways from the rest of the letters, the way the green background fades away around certain parts of ‘Hussein’ and‘Obama.’ It’s a Photoshop job, and not even a particularly careful one.

We did a little followup work and found a death certificate for a Herbert Harrison O’Brien from the same hospital, dated August 5, 1961. The date of birth on that death certificate is given as August 4, same as little Barack Hussein Obama. But the funny thing is, there’s no corresponding birth certificate for baby Herbert. Where did it go? And why doesn’t Obama’s mother sign his birth certificate until August 7, three days after her son is born? By then, we were too depressed to dig any deeper.”

“Our commitment to ethics really sets us apart at High Tech High,” says fellow senior and commencement ceremony chair Rishika Daryanani. “This case is no exception. Thanks to these two jerkfaces, now we have to disinvite America’s first black president and maybe get him kicked out of office, too. Thanks a lot, guys. Maybe we can get Donald Trump to fill in.”

WAKE UP AMERICA BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

Socialism is a code word for Communist-lite.  Socialism would provide the elite and the powerful the opportunity to get rid of the middle class and to create a bottom class so that there are only two classes of people, the controllers and those they control.  They want to get rid of any chances for prosperity.  Why?  Prosperity gives people some hope for the future.  You can't control people when they are hopeful and feed them a line of bull about true equality.  I had the distinct privilege of walking the streets of East Berlin several years before the WALL between East and West Berlin was taken down.  I can tell you that in this supposed showcase of Communism (note that East Berlin was their best work) there was true equality....yes indeed.....everyone was EQUALLY POOR.  But make no mistake there were those who were in charge, roughly 3 percent of the population, who ran the show and lived well while the remainder of the population lived in utter POVERTY.  The buildings were in terrible condition, people were not happy i.e. no smiling and no cheerfulness, people lived in look alike apartments, the lines were long for those waiting to buy food and we were instructed not to buy food as we would be denying food to those who really need it.  That translates into shortages of food.  Why shortages?  Because there were no incentives to produce as there is in those 'so called' greedy capitalistic countries like the U.S.  Why produce when you can't keep the fruits of your labor!  But there certainly were no shortages for the Communist party members who were well fed, well educated and dressed.  The younger population of the U.S. who voted for Socialism in the last election do not have a reality based understanding of history and have been brainwashed by their brain dead teachers who in turn have been brainwashed to believe that socialism is an answer to the worlds problems.  Well I am here to tell you socialism equates to starvation and material and spiritual deprivation on steriods.  There is not much difference between socialism and communism.  Who are funding and encouraging the socialists?  They are the equivalent of the Communist elite.  Only today these characters are not Communist party members but the super rich and super powerful who want to rule the entire world, i.e., one world government.   Look at what they have done in Europe with their European Union.  It would appear now that it is beneficial to the people but lets see how beneficial it will be in the future once they have the European Union all nailed down and under their complete control!

These warnings fell on deaf ears, drowned out by the music and excitement of the roaring 20's. People don't tend to complain much in times of prosperity, so the money changers used this boom time they had created to defuse any complaints about their growing control.

 Reading through all these comments and posts, I come away with a feeling of great sorrow and frustration that the basic single most important issue before us is being tossed away like so much chaff because it's...wellll...inconvenient.

I'm not a "Birther."  I just want to see the damn proof, and we get a falsified document AGAIN.  As if we needed proof that the man in the Oval Office is completely anti-American as demonstrated repeatedly by his actions and usurpations.  DAILY.

These are CRIMES that make Richard Nixon look like a saint.  This is the intentional destruction of Western civilization on an international scale, by destroying the one and only true beacon of liberty and freedom the world has EVER KNOWN.  By intentionally debasing and destroying the only monetary base that has generated more wealth and prosperity WORLDWIDE the earth has ever seen. 

And now Article 2 Section 1 Clause 5 of the Constitution of the United States just needs to be IGNORED???

“With the current debate over ending oil producers’ subsidies the question arises as to what subsidies do the producers actually get.  It is a surprisingly complicated question.  Wind producers also get subsidies that take complex forms—investment tax credits, production tax credits, mandates, property tax exemptions, etc.  But the major federal subsidy for wind producers is the option to take a 30 percent investment tax credit or to receive a 2.2 cents per kilowatt-hour production tax credit.

“2.2 cents” doesn’t seem like much, but, depending on the time of year, it falls somewhere between 25 percent and 100 percent of the wholesale price of electricity.  Forty percent if frequently used as the average.

So, what would an oil-production subsidy look like if it were the same magnitude?

Deepwater drilling rigs can cost over $400,000 per day.  With other costs, a rough per-well figure would be $100,000,000 per well.  If an oil company could get the same 30 percent investment tax credit as wind producers, the government would write the company a $30,000,000 check for each well completed.  For the lower cost, shallow-water wells, the government would write a check closer to $3,000,000 for every well drilled.

If on the other hand, the oil company opted for a production tax credit (and it was set at 40 percent of the 2010 average price of about $75 per barrel) then the government would write the oil company a check for $30 for each barrel produced (onshore as well as offshore).

If a subsidy like that was the deal oil companies had, then cut away.  But the $4 billion per year that oil’s detractors keep repeating works out to $0.60 per barrel, and upon closer examination they do not even qualify as oil-industry subsidies.

Heritage’s Nick Loris and Curtis Dubay have sorted it all out. Of course, there are subsidies for the oil and gas industry, but they come from the Department of Energy, not from unfair tax benefits, and they work out to about a nickel per barrel.  So, leave it to Washington to misidentify and exaggerate the problem.  It’s as though they are firing a shotgun at the chandelier when the problem is a gnat in the salad dressing.”

“Believing Sept. 11 to have been “hijacked by Republicans,” President Obama had a secret plan to “flush 9/11 down the memory hole” in order to benefit Democrats, the author of a brand-new book is claiming.

According to “Subversion Inc.” by investigative journalist Matthew Vadum, Obama sought to make the environment the prime concern on 9/11 instead of the worst terrorist attacks in U.S. history.

The president allegedly used his green jobs czar Van Jones and the leftist group ACORN to help orchestrate the transformation.

“The leftists at ACORN view September 11 as a ‘Republican’ day because it focuses the public on supposedly ‘Republican’ issues like patriotism, national security, and terrorism,” writes Vadum, a senior editor at Capital Research Center in Washington, D.C.

“They complain that 9/11 was long ago hijacked by Republicans and their enablers and unfairly used to bludgeon helpless Democrats every election. MSNBC host Keith Olbermann summed up this ugly perspective, calling 9/11 ‘a brand name. A Republican campaign slogan. Propaganda of the lowest form.’”

Vadum explains that by June 2009, ACORN – the acronym for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now – realized how much money was to be made by jumping on the “green economy” bandwagon. But the author calls a green economy a utopian fantasy.

“The kind of economy radical environmentalists want to force on America is heavily subsidized by the government and bans oil and coal, forcing people to rely on inferior ‘sustainable’ energy sources,” Vadum writes.

He says Obama was counting on Marxists who blame America for the 9/11 attacks to help change the meaning of the day: “It only made sense when ACORN joined the Obama administration in a cynical, coldly calculated political effort to erase the meaning of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks from the American psyche and convert September 11 into an unseemly celebration of radical environmentalism and Big Government.”

Jones, the self-described “communist” and “rowdy black nationalist,” was forced out of the White House in September 2009 after it was revealed he signed a 9/11 “truther” petition, blaming the terror attacks on the Bush administration.

But in the month before his firing, says “Subversion Inc.,” Jones organized a secret White House-sponsored teleconference call with some 60 left-leaning groups including Color of Change, AFL-CIO, Friends of the Earth, National Urban League and Young Democrats of America to promote the greening of 9/11.

A source on the call indicated the plan was to turn what the call participants referred to as a “day of fear” benefiting Republicans into a day of activism helping the political left.

“They think it needs to be taken back from the right,” said the source. “They’re taking that day and they’re breaking it because it gives Republicans an advantage. To them, that day is a fearful day.”

Vadum says the people behind the effort thought it best to launch their public-relations campaign under the radar of the mainstream media, since 9/11 is such a sensitive subject.

“The organizing term is to ‘go dark,’” said the source. “You don’t tell the press, don’t tell people you think will tell the press.”

On Aug. 4, 2009, the White House had offered a glimpse into its “plans to desecrate 9/11 for political advantage,” according to “Subversion Inc.”

“Van Jones appeared in a 33-minute video on the White House official blog to discuss the administration’s plan to flush 9/11 down the memory hole just as it has tried to do by rechristening the Global War on Terror the ‘Overseas Contingency Operations.’ Jones said the new rebranded 9/11 will be a great opportunity ‘for people to connect, to find other people in your peer group who are also passionate about repowering America but also greening up America and cleaning up America.’”

Vadum says officials never publicly explained why out of all 365 days in a year, Obama’s new National Day of Service had to be held on Sept. 11.

More than 3,000 Americans were killed on Sept. 11, 2001, when four U.S. passenger jets were hijacked by Muslim radicals, eventually crashing into New York’s World Trade Center, the Pentagon just outside the nation’s capital, and a Pennsylvania field.”

“Ever since news came out that the Navy‘s elite SEAL Team 6 completed the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound and killed the world’s number one terrorist, the country has been fascinated with the unit. Now, that fascination has made its way to an action figure. But there’s a catch.

The new SEAL action figure doesn’t feature a GI Joe-style serviceman. Instead, its modeled after a beefed up Barack Obama.

The official name given to the figurine by the company Hero Builders is Rambama, a cross between “Rambo” and “Obama.” Emil Vicale explained the genesis of the new toy to the local NBC station in Connecticut:

“On Sept. 14, 2001, Vicale listened to then-President George Bush’s bullhorn speech from Ground Zero and was inspired to create Hero Builders.

As Bush stood there, with an arm around the shoulder of a New York City firefighter, Vicale saw what he thought was the first moment that Bush fit into his shoes as president.

“I can hear you. The rest of the world hears you and the people who knocked these building down will hear all of soon,” Bush said as New Yorkers chanted “U.S.A.”

Almost 10 years later, Obama spoke the words that would make Vitale feel the same way: “Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda.”

With that statement, another Hero Builders action figure is born.

Not everyone is happy with the company’s latest creation. In an ironic display, the company has a “comment” section under the toy’s order page where you can “read what great Americans are saying about this doll.“ The three ”great Americans” shown are not fans. {…}

“President Obama, facing voter anger over high gasoline prices and complaints from Republicans and business leaders that his policies are restricting the development of domestic energy resources, announced Saturday that he was taking several steps to speed oil and gas drilling on public lands and waters.

It was at least a partial concession to his critics at a time when consumers are paying near-record prices at the gas pump. The Republican-led House passed three bills in the last 10 days that would significantly expand and accelerate oil development in the United States, saying the administration was driving up gas prices and preventing job creation with antidrilling policies.

Administration officials said the president’s announcement, which included plans for expanded drilling in Alaska and the prospect of new exploration off the Atlantic coast, was intended in part to answer these arguments, signal flexibility and demonstrate his commitment to reducing oil imports by increasing domestic production.”

“INDIANAPOLIS | Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.

In a 3-2 decision, Justice Steven David writing for the court said if a police officer wants to enter a home for any reason or no reason at all, a homeowner cannot do anything to block the officer’s entry.

“We believe ... a right to resist an unlawful police entry into a home is against public policy and is incompatible with modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence,” David said. “We also find that allowing resistance unnecessarily escalates the level of violence and therefore the risk of injuries to all parties involved without preventing the arrest.”

David said a person arrested following an unlawful entry by police still can be released on bail and has plenty of opportunities to protest the illegal entry through the court system. 

The court’s decision stems from a Vanderburgh County case in which police were called to investigate a husband and wife arguing outside their apartment.

When the couple went back inside their apartment, the husband told police they were not needed and blocked the doorway so they could not enter. When an officer entered anyway, the husband shoved the officer against a wall. A second officer then used a stun gun on the husband and arrested him.

Professor Ivan Bodensteiner, of Valparaiso University School of Law, said the court’s decision is consistent with the idea of preventing violence.

“It’s not surprising that they would say there’s no right to beat the hell out of the officer,” Bodensteiner said. “(The court is saying) we would rather opt on the side of saying if the police act wrongfully in entering your house your remedy is under law, to bring a civil action against the officer.”

Justice Robert Rucker, a Gary native, and Justice Brent Dickson, a Hobart native, dissented from the ruling, saying the court’s decision runs afoul of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

“In my view the majority sweeps with far too broad a brush by essentially telling Indiana citizens that government agents may now enter their homes illegally—that is, without the necessity of a warrant, consent or exigent circumstances,” Rucker said. “I disagree.”

Rucker and Dickson suggested if the court had limited its permission for police entry to domestic violence situations they would have supported the ruling.

But Dickson said, “The wholesale abrogation of the historic right of a person to reasonably resist unlawful police entry into his dwelling is unwarranted and unnecessarily broad.”

This is the second major Indiana Supreme Court ruling this week involving police entry into a home.

On Tuesday, the court said police serving a warrant may enter a home without knocking if officers decide circumstances justify it. Prior to that ruling, police serving a warrant would have to obtain a judge’s permission to enter without knocking. “

I recommend reading, "The Terrorist Next Door: How the Government is Deceiving You About the Islamist Threat" (by Erick Stakelback); it is frightening.

Having only read about 1/3 of the way through, it's simply amazing how our own government is undermining the very foundation of the United States of America. The other maddening issue is how so many illegal aliens can collect welfare.

Illegal aliens are allowed to enter the United States claiming to be political prisoners, or such, and they have no visible means of supporting themselves. Thousands upon thousands of them (Muslims) move into states, cities and towns and deplete welfare monies, and exhaust medical resources.

Americans need to open their eyes to an impending explosion.

“President Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, told the U.S. government she would homeschool her son using U.S.-approved textbooks during the period she moved the family to Indonesia, according to testimony unearthed by WND.

Dunham, however, broke her pledge. She enrolled the future president in Indonesian schools, where he was registered as a Muslim going by the name “Barry Soetoro.”

Dunham’s pledge to homeschool Obama was part of an ongoing attempt to secure an immigration department waiver so her second husband, Indonesian citizen Lolo Soetoro, could return to the U.S. after his visa had expired.

Dunham separated from her first husband, Barack Obama Sr., in 1963 when the future president was 2 years old. Dunham and Obama Sr. are reported to have divorced in 1964.

In 1965 in Hawaii, Dunham married Soetoro, an Indonesian, and moved to Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation, in October 1967.

WND reported earlier this week evidence continues to mount that Obama was adopted by his Indonesian stepfather, raising concerns over his presidential eligibility.

Soetoro had been studying at the University of Hawaii as part of a State Department-initiated student exchange program.

Soetoro’s U.S. student visa had been sponsored by the University of Hawaii’s Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange between East and West. The program enforced strict visa limitations, requiring foreign students to return to their home countries after two years.

Soetoro outstayed his visa. He eventually was obliged to return to Indonesia after his university program received a special cable from the Indonesian government that Soetoro, a civilian employee of the Indonesian army, should “immediately terminate his studies and return to Djakarta, Indonesia.”

Soetoro apparently was expected to devote four years of service to the Indonesian government in return for its subsidizing geography studies at the country’s Gadjah Mada University, as well as for his participation in the student exchange program.

With Soetoro back in Indonesia, both he and Dunham filed petitions with U.S. Immigration, in hopes of persuading the American government to grant a waiver allowing Soetoro to return.

Those documents were reviewed by WND. All their requests were denied.

As part of the saga, Robert R. Schmitz, a U.S. Immigration Inspector, noted Dunham’s pledge to homeschool young Obama if she took him to Indonesia.

Schmitz wrote in the immigration file dated May 24, 1967:

“[Mrs. Soetoro] also indicated that her son is now in Kindergarten and will commence the first grade next September and if it is necessary for her and the child to go to Indonesia she will educate the child at home with the help of school texts from the U.S. as approved by the Board of Education in Honolulu. …”

A subsequent document dated Oct. 6, 1967 and addressed to the State Department’s Facilitative Services Staff of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, explained Dunham decided to go to Indonesia if her requests for her husband’s visa were denied.

“She has made application for a visa for herself and her son to travel to Indonesia as she is determined to join her husband as soon as possible, if he is not permitted to return here, because she can no longer endure the separation,” stated the memo.

Once in Indonesia, Dunham clearly violated her pledge to the U.S. government by enrolling her son in Indonesian schools.

Widely distributed reports as well as a photograph of Obama’s school registration papers have documented that in January 1968 Obama was registered as a Muslim at Jakarta’s Roman Catholic Fransiskus Assisi Primary School under the name Barry Soetoro.

He was listed as an Indonesian citizen whose stepfather, identified on school documents as “L Soetoro Ma,” worked for the topography department of the Indonesian army.

Catholic schools in Indonesia routinely accept non-Catholic students but exempt them from studying religion.

After attending the Assisi Primary School, Obama was enrolled “also as a Muslim, according to documents” in the Besuki Primary School, a public school in Jakarta.

Obama once ‘quite religious in Islam’:

The Laotze blog, run by an American expatriate in Southeast Asia who visited the Besuki school, noted, “All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school, and a young ‘Barry Soetoro,’ being a Muslim, would have been required to study Islam daily in school. He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam.”

Indeed, in Obama’s autobiography, “Dreams from My Father,” he acknowledged studying the Quran and describes the public school as “a Muslim school.”

“In the Muslim school, the teacher wrote to tell mother I made faces during Quranic studies,” wrote Obama.

A number of Obama’s childhood friends from Indonesia claimed to the media that Obama was once a mosque-attending Muslim.

The Indonesian media have been flooded with accounts of Obama’s childhood Islamic studies, some describing him as a religious Muslim.

Speaking to the country’s Kaltim Post, Tine Hahiyary, who was principal of Obama’s school while he was enrolled there, said she recalls he studied the Quran in Arabic.

“At that time, I was not Barry’s teacher, but he is still in my memory,” claimed Tine, who is 80 years old.

The Kaltim Post said Obama’s teacher, named Hendri, had died.

“I remember that he studied mengaji (recitation of the Quran),” Tine said, according to an English translation by Loatze.

Mengaji, or the act of reading the Quran with its correct Arabic punctuation, is usually taught to more religious pupils and is not known as a secular study.

Also, Loatze documented the Indonesian daily Banjarmasin Post interviewed Rony Amir, an Obama classmate and Muslim, who described Obama as “previously quite religious in Islam.”

“We previously often asked him to the prayer room close to the house,” Amir said. “If he was wearing a sarong (waist fabric worn for religious or casual occasions) he looked funny.”

The Los Angeles Times, which sent a reporter to Jakarta, quoted Zulfin Adi, who identified himself as among Obama’s closest childhood friends, stating the presidential candidate prayed in a mosque, something Obama’s campaign claimed he never did.

“We prayed, but not really seriously, just following actions done by older people in the mosque,” said Adi. “But as kids, we loved to meet our friends and went to the mosque together and played.”

Friday prayers:

Obama’s official 2008 presidential campaign site once contained a page titled “Obama has never been a Muslim, and is a committed Christian.” The page stated, “Obama never prayed in a mosque. He has never been a Muslim, was not raised a Muslim, and is a committed Christian who attends the United Church of Christ.”

But the campaign changed its tune when it issued a “practicing Muslim” clarification to the Los Angeles Times.

An article in March by the Chicago Tribune apparently disputed Adi’s statements to the L.A. paper. The Tribune caught up with Obama’s declared childhood friend, who now describes himself as only knowing Obama for a few months in 1970 when his family moved to the neighborhood. Adi said he was unsure about his recollections of Obama.

But the Tribune found Obama did attend mosque.

“Interviews with dozens of former classmates, teachers, neighbors and friends show that Obama was not a regular practicing Muslim when he was in Indonesia,” states the Tribune article.

It quotes Obama’s former neighbors and third-grade teacher recalling how the young Obama “occasionally followed his stepfather to the mosque for Friday prayers.”

Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum, notes the Tribune article “cited by liberal blogs as refuting claims Obama is Muslim” actually implies Obama was an irregularly practicing Muslim and twice confirms Obama attended mosque services.

In an interview with the New York Times, Obama described the Muslim call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

The Times’ Nicholos Kristof wrote Obama recited, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent,” the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer.

The first few lines of the call to prayer state:

Some attention also has been paid to Obama’s paternal side of the family, including his father and his brother, Roy.

Writing in a chapter of his book describing his 1992 wedding, Obama stated: “The person who made me proudest of all was Roy. Actually, now we call him Abongo, his Luo name, for two years ago he decided to reassert his African heritage. He converted to Islam and has sworn off pork and tobacco and alcohol.”

Black Liberation Theology, Nation of Islam:

Obama has repeatedly stated he is a Christian.

The president’s closest association with Christianity apparently comes from his nearly 20-year membership at Chicago’s Trinity United Church of Christ. The controversial pastor, Jeremiah Wright, married Barack and Michelle Obama and baptized their children.

Trinity church is closely linked to the Nation of Islam, whose leader, Louis Farrakhan, has given numerous guest sermons at the church. Wright gave Farrakhan the church’s “Empowerment” award. Both Obama and Farrakhan were featured on the cover of Wright’s monthly Trumpet magazine.

Wright is infamous for his sermons denouncing patriotism, whites and Jews.

I have been a military wife twice.  I had a brother who was a 1st LT in the US Army in Viet Nam-Purple Heart.

I am old enough to know what is right.  I am wise enough to know what has to be done.   I stand beside my Country today.  I am a Minister and God fearing woman.   I see the handwriting on the wall.  I am praying.

“In two generations we have gone from General Patton telling his troops to grease their tanks with the enemy’s guts to an extensive purge of Navy command officers over a series of raunchy video skits. Slowly but surely we are turning the greatest armed forces into the world, into the most politically correct disarmed forces the world has ever seen.

The USS Enterprise crackdown, like the firing of General McChrystal and the push to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, completely ignore military realities for political objectives. A political military is also a useless military. Stalin’s purges of the Russian Army’s commanders left the Soviet Union completely unprepared for the Nazi attack. And the US military is being shaped along the same lines into a political military overseen by men whose chief credential is that they share the same politics as the politicians whom they serve.

Congressional report: US military has too many white males at the top:

A congressional report now says that the US military has too many white males at the top. Women are being kept out of the highest ranks because they lack combat experience. The report calls on the military leadership to “better reflect the racial, ethnic and gender mix of American society”. Which is code for affirmative action. If we didn’t have enough incompetents at the top, we can look forward to an affirmative action military in which the generals will be there because of the color of their skin or their gender, not because they’re the best at what they do.

The mandate that every civic institution has to reflect the multicultural politics of the liberal elites reflects their determination to impose their vision on the country by hijacking its institutions. And every institution touched by their vision has become functionally useless, incapable of performing even their simplest tasks, but always needing more money. America’s great cities have become sinkholes. The Postal Service is on the verge of extinction. And now it’s the military’s turn. 

Such dramatic overhauls of the military usually take place because it is culturally out of step with the government. Would-be tyrants, such as Turkey’s Erdogan, go after the military because it represents a barrier to absolute power. Others because the military is a barrier to their agenda. Sharon destroyed the once great IDF, purging its commanders and replacing them with political generals in order to push through his ethnic cleansing of the Jewish communities in Gaza, leading to the disastrous performance in the Second Lebanon War. The Democrats may not have anything as ambitious in mind, but they are determined to bring it culturally into line with their agenda. And that will destroy the military as anything other than a politically correct corps that will occasionally show up for UN peacekeeping missions.

The left has hated the American military because it is a vehicle of national exceptionalism:

A strong military gives the country a sense of independence and confidence that many European countries have lost. During the Vietnam War, the Anti-War movement targeted the military as an institution and the soldier as an individual, in order to destroy America’s ability to take independent military action. Despite the abolition of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, the left has continued its vocal opposition to an ROTC presence on campus. When a wounded Iraq War veteran spoke at Columbia, he was booed and jeered. Their excuse is that the military “discriminates” against transsexuals. And when that barrier too is dismantled, then there will be something else. It’s not about gays or transsexuals, it’s about a deep rooted ideological hostility to the military. Not because of any specific policy, but because of what it represents as the defenders of a country and an order that the left would like to see destroyed.

The War on Terror began a new phase of leftist terror against the military, with political organizations, the media and lawyers joining forces to demonize and demoralize the armed forces. They had a limited success until Abu Ghraib opened the door to a variety of prosecutions. The message shifted from soldiers as heroes, to soldiers as villains. Washington D.C.‘s message to the military became to be unobtrusive and avoid embarrassing us—while still getting results. From the man in the field to the man in the big office, if you do something that catches the media’s unblinking eye, we will hang you out to dry. The panic that set in after Abu Ghraib kept sending shivers through the establishment. Good men were dragged through the mud to show our good faith, our willingness to burn our own at the stake of public relations.

But the bug was always in the system. Because once the initial fighting was done, Afghanistan and Iraq became political objectives. Turning a mess of tribal warlords and urban religious factions into working democracies became the mission. A political mission laid out in Foggy Bottom by men who never have to go out and die for it. And the men who did, went on dying because it was an impossible political objective. The worse the situation became, the more their hands were tied. Forgotten by the media which once turned every death into a cause, American soldiers are dying in Afghanistan because of Rules of Engagement that are meant to win over the locals. The locals have not been won over, but the graves in military cemeteries keep on growing.

Americans died on 9/11 because of a failure to identify the enemy. Americans have died since then in Iraq and Afghanistan for the same reason:

Now the wells have been dug, and so have the graves, and the Taliban are still here, and the Mullahs spread their shadowy wings over the region.

Now two airmen are shot in Germany by a Kosovar Muslim, another child of our efforts to bring peace and democracy. And because German officials do not know enough to lie about what happened, the media winces and uncomfortably reports the truth, while Obama mumbles empty platitudes and PJ Crowley wonders aloud how you go about defining terrorism. That is another one of those political problems. Politicians and their camp followers are very much concerned with defining things, not according to their meanings, but their implications. Defining what happened in Frankfurt or Fort Hood as terrorism would require action. And not the politically appropriate kind.

Politics is about the manipulation of reality, but on the battlefield there is only reality itself:

Nor is he a member of some tiny minority that disturbs the peace of an otherwise peaceable region. He represents the hole in the ideal world that sits on antique desks in Washington and Brussels. The blind spot of their politics, their idealism and their faith that the world is becoming a better place. Even as countless politicians and academics have decided on their golden future, a knife comes flying out of the dark places of the past. The unfinished business of history toppling the progressive towers in savagery and hate.

While the next wave of violence was being birthed in caverns and huts, the American military establishment was busy debating how to comply with the political objective of integrating gays into the military. No satirist could have come up with a more absurd scenario in wartime. But life always outdoes the satirist, if he waits around long enough. One day those solemn discussions may go down with Caligula’s horse in the Senate as moments of blinding insanity by the leaders of a great power come completely untethered from reality. They are damning because they represent a terrible disassociation from the military as a means of defending the society, to the military as a representative of the ideals of society’s political representatives.

To the politicians, the military must represent their ideals. And so the military has become the peace corps, the tolerance corps and eventually nothing but a series of defense contracts for Green energy and Global Warming defense. Give this bunch in charge another few years and the key national security objective will be defined as fighting Global Warming and the army will be recruiting environmentalists to promote sustainable living in Afghanistan. The left has never understood why we needed to fight terrorism at all, instead of its root causes, such as globalism, global warming and other things that begin with ‘G’. It is lunacy, but so was the Bush Administration’s deeply held belief that the only thing wrong with the Muslim world was a lack of voting booths.

The underlying problem is that neither administration was very clear on what the military was for. They were and are even less clear on what reality is. They used the military as a vehicle for their ideals and their global vision. The world in their minds is one great line of dominoes and they have a moral obligation to send them flying in the right direction. This childish world-image collides with reality, men die, and still the dominoes go on falling in the game rooms of their minds.

The Muslim world still understands war, a contest in which forces war to impose their will on one another. Their war is one of attrition:

It’s usually some muddled form of democracy, rights, freedoms, unions, multiculturalism, a dim murky mirror image of ourselves. But if the British couldn’t do it after generations of colonialism, what in the world makes us think that we can.

The Muslim world has hated us ever since it learned that we existed, sometimes with the calmly implacable hatred of the other, sometimes with the burning rage of frustrated honor, sometimes hidden behind unctuous smiles, and sometimes with full throated bellows of rage. In this contest we are the weaker party because we hate less. Often we do not hate at all. And like tourists wandering with money in our hands through the bazaars of Cairo, that makes us vulnerable. Our enemies pride themselves not on their strength of arms, their intelligence or competence—but on the strength of their hate. It is a fevered hate that would break itself against our arms, our intelligence and our competence—if we were to actually make use of them.

It is not that we lack the ability to defend ourselves. It is that we lack the understanding and the will. Our leaders aspire to a purity of ideals that transcends self-interest, and such Gandhian austerity is another form of death. To say that we would rather die than defend ourselves is to commit suicide. To place a society’s ideals above its survival is folly, as the society’s doom is also the doom of its ideals. And those who do this are no longer following ideals, but a peculiar and fanatical faith of their own that compels them to die rather than spill a drop of the enemy’s blood. But there is a more commonplace form of folly, to define reality narrowly by those ideals and to send men out into the trenches to die for them. After doing it a few too many times, Europe decided that it would no longer send men off to die for any reason, and then was forced to do it anyway.

Now the civilized world has decided that it will not send men off to die except for wholly unselfish reasons, pure ‘good of other men’ reasons, sanctified by the blessing of the UN and the international community. Good and pure ‘feed the starving children’ type reasons. No more greedy warmongering or cynical landgrabbing. We are now a good and pure people who rarely kill, and if we kill, it is only because we have absolutely no other choice. Why we would rather die than kill, and often do.

But war is selfish, not altruistic. It is a selfish decision to take the life of another, rather than our own or that of our loved ones or our fellow men. Its nobility comes from that very selfishness, a selfishness rooted in kinship and friendship, rather than the abstract ideals which so often come down to nothing. If we are to fight, then we must be selfish. If we are to win, then we must be realistic. Politics has no place on the battlefield. The only thing worth fighting for is ourselves. Our land, our homes, our survival. It is one thing to fight side by side in alliance with friends, but fighting wars to reform enemies is the worst sort of foolishness. We can try to transform our enemies, but then they will transform us also as well. By trying to win over Islam to our way of life, we have given it great influence over us.

To avoid casualties, we have become cleverer weaponsmiths, devising ways to avoid facing that bullet. But that cleverness often seems like cowardice. To avoid suicide bombers, Israel built up walls and border defenses. And then the terrorists began to shoot rockets over the fences. So Israel built and deployed, ‘Iron Dome’ a counter-rocket system. And after all this effort, Israel is still under siege because the enemy is still there. An enemy that Israel could easily defeat, if its leaders had the political will. All the clever technologies create a space age ghetto, surrounded by enemies who were once enclosed, but with each retreat, are the ones doing the enclosing.

The rest of the free world is cleverly building its own ghettos, dividing so that the conquerors will have an easier time of it. Worrying over the morals and ethics of their actions. Purifying its armies to reflect its ideals of tolerance, co-existence and surrendering before the first shot has even been fired.

For now the First World has the best soldiers and the worst leaders. And it would have almost be better if it were the other way around. The generals who are the interface between the two have become politicians. The armies rot, go unused or misused, and the enemy passes right around them. We can’t win if we don’t fight, and we aren’t fighting. Not for ourselves anyway. For the purity of our ideals, and for some notion that everyone is entitled to a voting booth, birth control and microfinance, but not for ourselves. And until we start fighting for ourselves, until we find leaders who want to defend a country, rather than a set of ideals, then we will go on spending the lives of our soldiers for nothing and the future of our civilization for a tin penny prize.”
