I just received an email from the Tea Party Command Center entitled "2016 Poll: Who is your choice for the Presidential Nomination" and the choices include: Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, Allan West, Jeb Bush, Chris Christie, Rick Perry, Marco Rubio, Paul Ryan. The truth of the matter is that any one of those people could do a better job than the person now occupying the White House, though I must admit, Jeb Bush’s name on the ballot would have me quite upset.
There is a more important issue in play than the ability or conservative credentials of the names presented for your and my consideration. Our Republic is in dire straits now because we and our elected officials have not been faithful to our Constitution. There are many reasons why that happened but it has become obvious to us all, I think, that the only way to regain our freedom is to return to a strict adherence to the Constitution of the United States of America. If we are to do that we must face reality and stop dancing around certain issues even though they are difficult to deal with or because they affect our favorite conservative whom we would like to see as President of the United States.
The qualifications for President include that the candidate must be a Natural Born Citizen. That means that the person must be born in the US, a US possession or military base and have two parents who are citizens of the USA at the time of his or her birth. Our current President is not a Natural Born Citizen according to the birth certificate that he presented and is now on display on the White House website . Had we been faithful to our Constitution we would not now have a President who seems hell bent on destroying our country.
So the question is; will we obey the Law of the Land always or only when it suits us? Will we decide that it is okay for the President to be other than a natural Born Citizen if we like the person and he or she is from the party to which we belong? Are we going to just pretend that the question doesn’t really matter or we didn’t notice? The answer to these questions is important because three of the names offered, the ones in red above, are not Natural Born Citizens by the currently accepted definition established by the Supreme Court. This is the case according to everything I can find and sadly two of them would be among my first choices for the job.
This leaves us with three choices; refuse to vote for these people and hope that they do not end up on the ballot; work to change the Constitution through the amendment process; continue to stay quiet and pretend it doesn’t matter, support and vote for the person we like best regardless of that problem and join with those who only pay attention to the Constitution when it suits their purposes.
So far nobody is discussing this including those whose names appear as potential candidates. Personally I wish we would talk about this out loud and come up with a principled plan of attack. If we do not, three names would have to be crossed of my list of possible candidates. If someone finds that I have made an error determining the eligibility of those three individuals in red above, please let me know so I can quit agonizing about this issue. If I am correct, why do so may people keep putting those names forward in spite of this problem?

Mrs. Clinton dodging bullets on a Bosnian tarmac
The Democratic Party is already tripping over themselves in their hasty preparation to lay the groundwork to elect the first woman president to follow up on their successful election of the first black president. In the next few months we will begin to see a lot of information resurface in regards to Hillary “formerly Rodham” Clinton’s past exploits, scandals, and sometimes confusing history.
I’m here to help get the ball rolling early on that. As the current occupant of the white house was elected with virtually no vetting whatsoever, a good many of us believe it is important to get ahead of the game this time around as soon as humanly possible. Below is an inspiring story along those lines that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
In case you didn't know or don’t remember, the former first lady and later Secretary of State Mrs. Clinton had a very close call during a goodwill trip to Bosnia in the nineties during the bloody Bosnian war. It occurred during the bloody Bosnian war while her husband was president. In an apparent horrible failing of pre-landing intelligence and security she "remembers landing under fire...we had to lower our heads and run for the cars..." Perhaps even more alarming is the fact that not only was her life apparently in danger, but she had Chelsea with her as well.
How brave and courageous for her to have put her life on the line in an active war zone to help bring peace to an oppressed people.
Fortunately for her, a CBS report includes the footage of this traumatic and heroic action. It is a dramatic piece of footage and one that will undoubtedly be included in her upcoming election commercials as an example of her grace and courage under fire.

Mrs. Clinton has accused her critics in the past of “swiftboating” her in regards to her own claim of coming under fire by Serbian snipers. I can only assume that the term swiftboating is defined as “pointing out the truth in response to a Democratic presidential candidate’s dubious claim.”

This, of course, is just one of the many well documented lies perpetrated by “she would replace ‘the One’ as the leader of the free world.”
Thank goodness Hillary stood on that wall. We need her on that wall. And the Democratic Party wants her on that wall.

If you have ever had a conversation with a die-hard liberal about theSecond Amendment, chances are you have probably been called “paranoid” a time or two (…or fifty).
“What are you talking about? The government is not going to take your guns; I don’t know what you’re so worried about,” I can recall from a particular conversation. “Seriously, you’re justparanoid!”
If having the foresight to recognize that gun registration is not only wildly unconstitutional, but also a convenient means by which the government could use to eventually confiscate firearms makes me “paranoid,” then so be it. However, contrary to the liberal narrative, juvenile insults don’t actually alter reality.
As you know, there is a massive display of civil disobedience happening inConnecticut right now. Over 90% of the gun owners in the Constitution State haverefused to comply with new anti-gun regulations; these laws require that all “assault weapons” and high-capacity magazines (over ten rounds) be registered as of January 1 of this year.
The state estimated that there are about 372,000 “assault weapons” and over two million “high-capacity” magazines within the state. But when the numbers came in, only about 50,000 “assault weapons” had been registered as well as 38,000 “high-capacity” magazines.
In other words, only about 3.7% of the “scary weaponry” within Connecticut has been registered with the government… meaning that 96.3% of innocent gun owners were considered felons overnight. (Of course, this did not phase them as they are continuing to ignore the so-called law.)
The bureaucrats bent on control didn’t like this so much, you can imagine. They are responding by sending another wave of letters to gun owners giving them “one more chance” to register their weapons with the government.
According to a local newspaper, the Journal Inquirer:
The state now holds signed and notarized letters saying those late applicants own rifles and magazines illegally.
But rather than turn that information over to prosecutors, state officials are giving the gun owners a chance to get rid of the weapons and magazines.
Stated differently, rather than immediately taking hundreds of thousands of gun owners to court over their shiny, new “felony,” the oh-so-benevolent overlords of Connecticut are “graciously” giving them another chance to comply — or else.

So, let’s get this straight… Residents in Connecticut have the choice of:
- Complying with blatantly unconstitutional law by threat of governmentforce;
- Selling their weapon to a government-approved dealer;
- Destroying their own guns or magazines;
- Letting someone in a more pro-gun state hold them; or
- Giving it directly to the police.

The State of Connecticut is now demanding that gun owners across the state turn in all newly-banned, unregistered firearms and magazines or face felony arrest.

The State Police Special Licensing & Firearms Unit began mailing out notices to gun owners who attempted to register their firearms and accessories with the state but did not do so in time for the Jan. 1 deadline of Connecticut’s newly enacted gun control law.
The law bans the sale of magazines holding over 10 rounds and “assault rifles” manufactured after 1994 and requires that residents who possessed either before the ban to register them with the state.
“We are returning your application for [an] assault rifle certificate and/or [a] large capacity magazine declaration because it was not received or postmarked prior to January 1, 2014 as required by law,” the notice states.
The letter breaks down the gun owner’s “options,” including surrendering their firearms and magazines to the police, selling them to a gun dealer, removing them from the state or rendering them inoperable.
Because these owners attempted to register their guns and accessories, the state can now prosecute them at will because they know exactly who they are.
But when it comes to the vast majority of gun owners who did not register at all, Connecticut lacks clout.
Last month it was revealed that out of the over 2.4 million high-capacity magazines in Connecticut,only 38,000 have been registered.
“So, where did these millions of magazines go?” reporter Warner Todd Huston asked. “All that can be said is that it appears that gun owners in Connecticut are not quite the sheep that jackbooted government officials may have imagined they were.”
“After all, if there really were millions of high capacity magazines in the state – and it is very likely that there are – and they have now gone unregistered, that means that thousands of gun owners have refused to bow to this unconstitutional, anti-Second Amendment law.”
Likewise, only 50,000 semiautomatic rifles were also registered, further proof that Connecticut’s gun owners are revolting through civil disobedience.
These gun owners correctly realize that registration only leads to confiscation and that the overall agenda of gun control is to completely ban private gun ownership.
Last year, the New York Police Department began confiscating guns which were previously registered but are now banned under New York’s newest gun control law.
The NYPD knew exactly which gun owners to target by using the city’s centralized firearms registry which was already in place.
Connecticut’s anti-gun politicians want their own registry so they can eventually confiscate firearms in the exact same manner.

You are going to have a hard time believing some of the stuff that you are about to read. Children in America are being sexualized at younger and younger ages these days, and our public schools play a major role in that. As you will see below, even kindergarten students are getting naked and trying to have sex with each other in our schools.

So where in the world are these kids learning to do this? Well, it certainly does not help that there is more sex on television and in our movies than ever before. And it certainly does not help that some of the biggest pop stars on the planet such as Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are blatantly using sex to sell records to their young fans. But we can’t place all of the blame on entertainment. Without a doubt, our schools are playing a major role in sexualizing our children, and most parents have very little understanding about what is actually happening.
As I mentioned above, kindergarten students are actually getting naked and are trying to have “sex” with one another. That sounds absolutely crazy, but it is true. In fact, a case that made national headlines recently happened in New Jersey…
Kelly Mascio, 43, is facing termination in connection with the incident late last year at Mullica Township Elementary School in southern New Jersey. Mascio, who has taught for more than 15 years, is suspended with pay while a disciplinary process continues.
As detailed in a Mullica Township Police Department report, two of Macsio’s students–both five-years-old–went into an in-classroom bathroom and removed their clothes. When Mascio, pictured at right, subsequently discovered the children–a boy and a girl–they told her they were “having sex,” cops noted.
This is a sign of a very, very sick society.
So where did those poor little children get such a twisted idea?
It could have potentially come from a lot of places, but it certainly does not help that some public school systems are actually teaching kindergarten students about sex. For example, in Chicago public schools kindergarten teachers are now required to set aside 30 minutes a month for sex education.
Does that trouble you?
It should.
When our kids get a little older, there seems to be very little that is off-limits in their sex education classes. One father in Kansas recently discovered this the hard way…
Mark Ellis says his daughter goes to Hocker Grove Middle School in the Shawnee Mission School District. She was so shocked by what she recently saw on a poster at school, that she took a picture of it home and showed her parents.
Her dad initially assumed it was a student prank, until he called the school and found it was part of the curriculum.
“Why would you put it in front of 13-year-old students?” he asked.
He thought the poster, which lists things like “oral sex” and “grinding,” might’ve been a prank until he contacted the school principal. He was told it was a teaching material.
You can see a photo of the complete poster right here. If you live in Kansas, your tax money is going to teach middle school students about “touching each other’s genitals”.
No wonder our country is so messed up. Just consider the following stats…
-According to a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately two-thirds of all Americans in the 15 to 24-year-old age bracket have engaged in oral sex.
-Today, the United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate on the entire planet.
-According to the latest figures released by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, there are 20 million new sexually-transmitted infections in the United States every single year, and Americans in the 15 to 24-year-old age range account for approximately 50 percent of those new sexually-transmitted infections.
-At this point, one out of every four teen girls in the U.S. has at least one sexually transmitted disease.
These things did not happen by accident. They are the consequences of raising our children in such a sexually-charged environment.
If parents only knew what was really going on out there, many more of them would be pulling their children out of the public schools. For instance, in a previous article I shared a quote from one of my readers that actually attended one of the “best” public schools in the city of Detroit…
The school was a new seven story building just a couple of years old. The bathrooms would often lack toilet paper & soap beyond the second floor (the main floor), the bathroom sinks would often not work. The water fountains on north side of the building on from the third floor & up did not work. The elevators would constantly break down. I even got stuck on the elevator before. I almost tripped down a half a flight of stairs because the elastic seal (it was the metal bar at the front of a treader of I don’t know the name of it.) the stairs was not properly installed.
Students would often have sex on the stairs & throughout the school. Parents actually called the school many times & reported kids having sex on the stairsbecause all of them had glass windows 270 degrees.
And according to an ABC News investigation, this kind of thing is going on all over the country…
Students told us that some kids are having sex in school bathrooms and hallways — even in classrooms.
At a middle school outside Baltimore, Md., a couple of 12-year-olds had oral sex in their science class. Their classmates watched, but the teacher didn’t see them. (The teacher was suspended and later resigned.)
And the kids say it happens at home too, and we parents almost never know.
Do you know what is going on at the schools where you live?
Unless someone comes forward, you may never know the twisted things that are happening.
And what is happening in our middle schools and our high schools is just the beginning. In fact, some young students recently received a shocking preview of what they should expect once they get to college…
Hundreds of elementary and middle school students who recently toured UC Berkeley got an early lesson in sex education when they witnessed a guy in a giant penis costume walking around handing out condoms, as well as a variety of condom-inspired games, an undergrad at the university toldThe College Fix on Wednesday.
The schoolchildren were on campus last week at the same time that the public university hosted National Condom Week observances that, in addition to the giant penis, included an assortment of sex-themed activities such as a vagina-anus condom toss, a vulva and anus “pin the tail,” and a condom water-balloon game.
We live in a society where anything goes.
If you can believe it, Facebook now has a whopping 58 different “gender classifications” to choose from.
Instead of teaching our children to make the right choices, we just encourage them to “try to be safe”.
What we need is more parents that are willing to step up and take charge like this mother…
When a Milwaukee mother found out her 12-year-old daughter was talking to a young man and planning a fight on Facebook, she took swift action to ensure the girl learned a lesson.
Lorraine Walls not only banned her daughter, Luticia, from social media, she also posted a video of her getting chewed out by her mother for breaking the rules on the 12-year-old’s Facebook page — just to make sure all her friends could see it.
If you trust the moral education of your children to the schools, you never know what you are going to get. In fact, some of the worst sexual predators out there are actually working as teachers. The following is an example from Californiathat is one of the worst that I have heard about…
Mark Berndt, 61, was arrested at his home in the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance on Monday, accused of abusing nearly two dozen boys and girls, ages six to 10, between 2008 and 2011, officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
Authorities began investigating Berndt over a year ago, after more than 40 photos depicting children in classrooms with their eyes blindfolded and mouths covered with tape were turned over to police, Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Sometimes predators like that get sent away to prison for good.
But other times they win in court and they get their jobs back. Just check out this sick example…
Here’s what Wisconsin’s legal system and its teachers unions have just taught the nation: If you’re a teacher and you get fired for looking at porn at work, you’ll get your job back.
Such is the case of Andrew Harris, former seventh-grade science teacher at Glacier Creek Middle School in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District.
The district’s school board Monday voted in a special closed session to comply with an arbitrator’s 60-page order that demands Harris be reinstated. He was fired in 2010 after receiving and viewing multiple pornographic and sexually inappropriate images and videos, according to a complaint.
Someone that is “teaching” your children right now may be a sexual predator or a porn addict. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, there are 747,408 registered sex offenders in the United States. And that number represents just the ones that have been caught and convicted.
We live in a sick, twisted, decaying society that is falling even farther downhill with each passing day.
So watch your children very carefully. It is all too easy for them to become victims.
This is my response to actress Ellen Barkin. She announced on Twitter that as long as Barack Obama is President, the people of the United States belong to him, Twitchy reported.
The actress made her opinion known in an exchange that started when she announced that she voted for Obama to “protect” all of “his” people.
“Yes I vote Pres Obama…to protect his ppl,ALL his ppl.The poor,the middle class,the jobless…the 1′s that need our help..I vote 4 humanity, (sic)” she tweeted.
I cannot for the life me begin to understand what makes people like her think that way. Another way we should respond to people like this is to let your local NBC affiliates know that you will no longer watch (even if you don't anyway) “The New Normal,” a new NBC series. Let them know you will not be watching there station at all because of her comments. Let their sponsors (the local businesses that advertize with them) know that you will not do business with them because they advertize on their network. Tell your local restaurant, hardware, grocery story etc. , etc. that you will no longer do business with them because they advertize with them. Send out your own tweet's asking everyone to boycott their network because of her (or anyone else you find offensive) statements. There is not much we can do about what people say, but we can hurt those that employ them. And we can hurt those that advertize with them. We hurt them the most when we hit them in the pocket.

Obama To Americans: You Don't Deserve To Be Free

Where does the Tea Party stand on this event? I hear nothing in the media about, nothing from Rush or Hannity or even Beck. Is this a twitter event? Is it legitimate or a trap set up by Obama to instigate chaos and a crack down on conservatives and patriots?
- DO WE HAVE YOUR BEST INTERESTS AT HEART?
AMA AND OTHERS CAUTIONS “RETAIL CLNICS; BIG BAD WOLF!”
Let’s start with some of the arguments these groups put forward as reasons for concern in using a Retail Clinic!
- Ø Do not have access to all chart records.
- Ø Causes Fragmentation of care by adding another provider.
- Ø Staffed often by Physician Assistances or Nurse Practitioner
- Ø No patient follow up care.
- Ø Chronically ill are more complicated than clinics usually see. (Note it doesn’t say can’t handle)
- Ø Question if have patient’s best interests at heart!
I looked in detail at five articles about these warnings. The first covers the period around 2007. Titled AMA Goes After Walmart Style Retail Clinics, it warns of the same concerns. “Our primary focus is patient safety and patient care, and the retail clinics have a different mission of selling products and prescriptions,” said Dr. Rodney Osborn. The AMA stance at that time was to lobby for increases regulations of these Retail Clinics. Typically doctors often site regulations and dealing with insurance as an over regulated problem.
The other articles cover and aim at those clinics owned by CVS, Walgreen’s, Target and other groups. On Feb. 23, 2014 (my 52 birthday updated a statement disapproving of the Retail Clinics. Again the list above covers their reasons for concern.
An article written in Aug. of 2012 shows these statistics.
- Ø Total visits go from 1.5 million (2007) to 6 million (2009)
- Ø The same study notes that there are 557 million visits to Doctors and 177 to ER’s
- Ø One significant change in demographics was that those over 65 were at 7.5% (2000 to 2006) and at 14.7 (2007 to 2009).
- Ø About 40% of the visits from 2007 to 2009 were for immunizations.
I now have a few questions and statements I think need to be considered.
- Ø How often can the people that visited a Retail Clinic did so because of lack of access to an appointment needed now?
- Ø How many ER’s have access to a patient’s health record or chart?
- Ø How many Pediatricians really know a patient and remember that child’s chart when called after hours?
- Ø How many Nurse Practitioners or PA’s are employed by Pediatricians or Doctors?
- Ø Is it really fair to say no access to follow up care? I say this because many say to follow up with your family practitioner or come back to them if they do not have one!
- Ø If it is still true that most(almost half, 40%) go for immunizations, is this really a big issue?
- Ø What study said this are that? Compare it to what is actually going on.
- Ø Should Pharmacists really be giving vaccinations when they are bogged down just filling prescriptions?
- Ø How many groups are going to have a formal relationship with your Pediatrician?
- Ø Is some of the disjoint and lack of communication the fault of the AMA for going after the Retail Clinics instead of really working with these groups to shore up the holes? Or, is this just about the bottom line?
- Ø How many people complain about not enough time with their doctor?
I would think again about what the AMA and AAP says about these clinics. I would think also about getting prescriptions where pharmacists are doing a lot of vaccinations. I am a pharmacist and will get plenty of feedback for this I am sure.
The bottom line is go to places that you feel comfortable. I can personally vouch for a Nurse Practitioner owned clinic. Excellent care is what my husband (also a pharmacist), my son and I get when we go there. This does not stop me from having a family practice physician. I have gone to this man since 1987 and will not go elsewhere besides that NP owned clinic in Yukon, OK. They do not compete but compliment each other.

I couldn't hardly believe what I had heard today. Cut spending on our military when we most need them. Cut troop personnal by 120,000 troops. 120,000 more people unemployed and on welfare and food stamps. Is this anyway to treat our soldiers. No! And cut their pay for those who aren't let go. They don't make enough now. If anyone deserves Cadillac plans on Insurance, pay, and benefits its our fighting men and women. Sure as heck not Congress or the Adminstration. The number one job of the Federal Govt. is to protect our Country and its People. And they can't even do that. They can spend Trillions on failed Banks, Corporations, Failed Energy Companies, Acorn, Planned Parenthood, Fast and Furious, Benghzia Scandal, Shutting down Coal Companies, etc., etc., But can't take care of the Nations Safety or our Troops? They must need to divert more money for the Gigantic Welfare State that they are putting us into. Or Obamacare. The militaries budget is only $500 Billion. Thats a drop in the bucket compared to all the Trillions that have been wasted under this Adminstration and Congress.The security to our Nation and whole free world is in the balance here. They'll fund our enemies , and countries that don't like us all day long. They'll even fund terrorist groups. They now want to pull funding from our ( The Peoples) one ally. The Military. With the full help of the Republican Congress they just gave them blank check debt ceiling where there is no ceiling. So they can waste alot more trillions we dont' have. Then try to convince us we need to cut the military. Hog Wash. Theres something that stinks like a skunk here.None of this makes any sense. Unless your anti-military, anti- american. And your trying to deliberately make us more unsafe and take America down. And if you cut the real military you can sink more money into your private police state. Frank Sinatra considered Kate Smith the best singer of her time, and said that when he and a million other guys first heard her sing "God Bless America" on the radio, they all pretended to have dust in their eyes as they wiped away a tear or two.
Here are the facts...
The link at the bottom will take you to a video showing the very first public singing of "GOD BLESS AMERICA". But before you watch it, you should also know the story behind the first public showing of the song.
The time was 1940. America was still in a terrible economic depression. Hitler was taking over Europe and Americans were afraid we'd have to go to war. It was a time of hardship and worry for most Americans.
This was the era just before TV, when radio shows were HUGE, and American families sat around their radios in the evenings, listening to their favorite entertainers, and no entertainer of that era was bigger than Kate Smith.
Kate was also large; plus size, as we now say, and the popular phrase still used today is in deference to her, "It ain't over till the fat lady sings". Kate Smith might not have made it big in the age of TV, but with her voice coming over the radio, she was the biggest star of her time.
Kate was also patriotic. It hurt her to see Americans so depressed and afraid of what the next day would bring. She had hope for America, and faith in her fellow Americans. She wanted to do something to cheer them up, so she went to the famous American song-writer, Irving Berlin (who also wrote "White Christmas") and asked him to write a song that would make Americans feel good again about their country. When she described what she was looking for, he said he had just the song for her.
He went to his files and found a song that he had written, but never published, 22 years before - way back in 1917. He gave it to and she worked on it with her studio orchestra. She and Irving Berlin were not sure how the song would be received by the public, but both agreed they would not take any profits from God Bless America. Any profits would go to the Boy Scouts of America. Over the years, the Boy Scouts have received millions of dollars in royalties from this song.
This video starts out with Kate Smith coming into the radio studio with the orchestra and an audience. She introduces the new song for the very first time, and starts singing. After the first couple verses, with her voice in the background still singing, scenes are shown from the 1940 movie, "You're In The Army Now." At the 4:20 mark of the video you see a young actor in the movie, sitting in an office, reading a paper; it's Ronald Reagan.
To this day, God Bless America stirs our patriotic feelings and pride in our country. Back in 1940, when Kate Smith went looking for a song to raise the spirits of her fellow Americans, I doubt whether she realized just how successful the results would be for her fellow Americans during those years of hardship and worry..... and for many generations of Americans to follow. Now that you know the story of the song, I hope you'll enjoy it and treasure it even more.

A hysterical woman ( a city Facilities Maintenance worker ) was almost car jacked at 2am Saturday morning, in my neighborhood.
This latest of many assaults takes advantage of public safety resources being focused on New Orleans parade season and upcoming Mardi Gras.
The combatant stepped from the neutral ground ( localese for median ), waved a gun & demanded her car.
The would-be victim hit reverse, went down the block until she hit a parked van and exited screaming.
My room mate got her inside our house & called 911.
Not that it matters but both the suspect and intended target were Black.
What does matter is that not one so-called local "snivel" rights activist will hit the streets on behalf of a wife who had just finished working a parade clean up and didn't deserve to be frightened within an inch of her life by one of the low lifes I call, " chocolate klansmen. "

Less than two months before taxes are due, House Republicans will pass a slate of bills aimed at protecting taxpayers from Internal Revenue Service abuses.
The House GOP also plans to move legislation that would force the government to reveal more clearly how taxpayer money is being spent.
Republicans' legislative plans follow a year of constant scrutiny of the IRS, after the tax collection agency admitted it improperly targeted for extra scrutiny conservative groups applying for tax exempt status, delaying their approval.
Many Republicans said that act was an overtly political attempt to prevent these groups from having an impact in the 2012 election.

"Practically every day, there's news of a new scandal at the IRS, and unfortunately it seems the administration is incapable of getting the IRS under control and restoring faith in the agency," Roskam said last year when he proposed the legislation. "The targeting of individuals by the IRS based on their political and social beliefs cuts to the core of American's trust in government, and it's time to institute reforms in order to protect taxpayers from further abuse."
One of his bills is the Taxpayer Transparency and Efficient Audit Act, H.R. 2530. This bill would require the IRS to tell taxpayers when it shares their tax information with another government agency, and limits the time people can be subjected to an IRS audit to one year.
Republicans are wary the IRS will improperly share personal tax information with other agencies as it tries to implement ObamaCare and make determinations about who might qualify for tax credits when buying health insurance.
Another bill from Roskam up next week is the Protecting Taxpayers from Intrusive IRS Requests Act, H.R. 2531. This bill would prevent the IRS from asking about people's religious or political beliefs.
Both of Roskam's bills will be called up under a suspension of House rules, which means they'll need a two-thirds majority vote to pass.
GOP leaders are expected to call up another IRS bill from House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.). Camp's bill, which will be called up under a rule and can pass with a simple majority, would delay IRS rules that would limit the political activities of certain tax-exempt groups.
The House will also look at two other suspension bills meant to ensure taxpayers know how their money, once collected by the IRS, is being spent.
The first of these is the Taxpayers Right-to-Know Act, H.R. 1423. This bill from Rep. James Lankford (R-Okla.) requires all federal agencies to describe all programs under their agency, their costs, the number of employees running each program, and possible duplication. Reports would be due each year.
Agencies would also have to publish performance reviews, improper payment rates and other information.
Based on this information, the Office of Management and Budget would have to publish an annual report that identifies overlapping programs, and recommendations on how to reduce this duplication.
The second transparency bill is the Taxpayer Transparency Act, H.R. 3308. This bill from Rep. Billy Long (R-Mo.) requires executive branch agencies to disclose when advertisements are paid for at taxpayer expense.
The bill is a reaction to the Department of Health and Human Service's 2013 effort to advertise ObamaCare. But Long said the bill would also require the government to tell people when it's behind ads for food stamps or other government services.
"The Taxpayer Transparency Act requires government agencies to put a disclaimer at the bottom of any advertisement that is paid for by taxpayers," Long said last fall. "By calling attention to how taxpayer dollars are spent, my bill will serve as a reminder that all services provided by the government are ultimately paid for by the taxpayers."
