Personal rights opposing the good of all is at issue. The United States, having painted itself into a corner, is utterly incapable of finding a reasonable solution.

I wrote the Attorney General of the United States a letter advising him that federal income tax was unconstitutional. It was equivalent to Moses telling Pharaoh to let his people go. The Attorney General didn’t see it my way.  I don’t have a constitutional right to challenge the income tax.  The law places the IRS in charge of my tax. 

As to the constitutionality of federal income tax, I had read Flast v. Cohen, a taxpayer challenge. The Supreme Court:  “As we understand it, the Government’s position is that the constitutional scheme of separation of powers, and the deference owed by the federal judiciary to the other two branches of government within that scheme, present an absolute bar to taxpayer suits challenging the validity of federal spending programs. The Government views such suits as involving no more than the mere disagreement by the taxpayer ‘with the uses to which tax money is put.’ According to the Government, the resolution of such disagreements is committed to other branches of the Federal Government and not to the judiciary.  Consequently, the Government contends that, under no circumstances, should standing be conferred to federal taxpayers to challenge a federal taxing or spending program.  An analysis of the function served by standing limitations compels a rejection of the Government’s position.”

The Supreme Court found that taxpayers, if they meet standing requirements, they have the right to be heard on constitutional issues.  In Flast, the taxpayers, a group of people who maintained  government could not give taxpayer money to church schools, did not have personal stake in the outcome,  in that they individually only paid a few pennies to the subject tax.

In my case, the IRS had “mistakenly” taxed me more than I could legally be taxed and had “mistakenly” ignored a tax court order that corrected said mistake.  In fact, the IRS had illegally put me on the street. The U. S. Court of Appeal for the Ninth Circuit had rejected my claim.  The Supreme Court rejected my claim without a word.  I took the court record to The Palm Beach Post.  

The newspaper put a reporter on the case. He got a confession from the IRS that it had been mistaken numerous times.  A front page story appeared, the IRS eating crow. As far as income tax policy is concerned, it didn’t change anything. 

Should IRS admission of wrongdoing  change the way government does business,  even if I were put on the street?  Does the good of all count for more than my personal rights?  My personal rights apply to everyone’s, which government is out to eliminate.  It is either this government and no rights,  or freedom and a new government.

“Since its inception in 2002,the Department of Homeland Security has grown increasingly contemptuous of the rights of the American people. Indeed, the Gestapo-like tactics of one of the Department’s better known masters of overreach–the TSA–are responsible for countless examples of the organizations daily assault on the Constitution.

But recently, another of Janet Napolitano’s handmaidens of harassment has begun to make news…albeit only on the web, of course. It is the TSA’s Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response task force–or VIPR. Organized into mobile swat teams, VIPR has executed some 8,000 highly public searches in the past 12 months.

And what meaningful operations they have been.

In a Georgia Amtrac station, VIPR personnel “patted down” all travelers, children and adults, both entering AND LEAVING the station.

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, teams of VIPR agents were assigned to conduct searches at a high school prom.

In Texas, agents thoroughly “…searched all private and commercial vehicles entering and exiting…”the port of Brownsville. EACH AND EVERY VEHICLE was searched even though the task force was not responding to any known or reported threat!

In April, VIPR staged a raid at a Tampa bus station. Once again, the teams were not responding to any particular threat. Rather, Homeland Security official Gary Milano said the purpose of the exercise was to “…invent the wheel in advance, in case we have to, if there is ever specific intelligence requiring us to be here.”

And two months later, VIPR targeted 5,000 square miles bordering West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky.Four hundred agents representing 70 federal agencies appeared in Black Hawk helicopters, small planes and Coast Guard craft. Once again this was a “training exercise.” As usual, no threat had been suspected or reported. TSA official Michael Cleveland stated,“…the purpose of the exercise was to have a visible presence and let people know we’re out here. IT CAN BE A DETERRENT.”

But who is being deterred, intimidated and threatened by these unnecessary shows of force- certainly not terrorists.

“Uncontrolled search and seizure is one of the first and most effective weapons in the arsenal of every arbitrary government…Among deprivations of rights, none is so effective in cowing a population, crushing the spirit of the individual and putting terror in every heart”, said Justice Robert Jackson, the chief US prosecutor at Nuremberg.

The American people are being systematically subjected to, and desensitized to, warrantless searches and the most egregious and unnecessary forms of personal humiliation by an organization whose raison d’etre is inscribed at the TSA Air Marshall Training Center: DOMINATE, INTIMIDATE, CONTROL. And the more often this is done, the more“reasonable” it will seem. Routine? Acceptable? Like 10% un-employment, government harassment will become the“new norm.” After all, it is for our own good!

One has to wonder if Barack Obama isn’t grateful to Muslim terrorists for the 9/11 attacks. After all, without those 3,000 murders, how could a would-be dictator justify the Constitutional abuse to which he is subjecting millions of American citizens? Makes it easier somehow to understand his bow to the King of Saudi Arabia, doesn’t it!”

“In the midst of staggering illogic surrounding our debt ceiling, ratings agency Moody’s just raised the bar.

On Monday, it announced that the United States could increase its creditworthiness by - wait for it - eliminating the debt ceiling altogether:

“The United States is one of the few countries where Congress sets a ceiling on government debt, which creates “periodic uncertainty” over the government’s ability to meet its obligations, Moody’s [MCO 36.45 0.13 (+0.36%) ] said in a report.

“We would reduce our assessment of event risk if the government changed its framework for managing government debt to lessen or eliminate that uncertainty,” Moody’s analyst Steven Hess wrote in the report.”

Consider the illogic on display.

An entity’s credit rating - whether we’re talking about an individual, a household, or a business - is measured by amongst other things the total amount of debt outstanding, the value of the assets owned, and the cash flow generated each year. 

If debt outstanding rises without a commensurate increase in assets or cash flow, the creditworthiness drops.

Yet the folks at Moody’s are actually saying that in the United States’s case, if it were to remove a curb on debt growth, in their view this would increase creditworthiness.

To further demonstrate the insanity, consider the next few paragraphs:

“Stepping further into the heated political debate about U.S. debt problems, Moody’s suggested the government could look at other ways to limit debt.

It cited Chile, widely praised as Latin America’s most fiscally-sound country, as an example.

“Elsewhere, the level of deficits is constrained by a ‘fiscal rule,’ which means the rise in debt is constrained though not technically limited,” Moody’s said, adding that such rule has been effective in Chile.

It also cited the example of the Maastricht criteria in Europe, which determines that the ratio of government debt to GDP should not exceed 60 percent.”

So, on the one hand, Moody’s wants America to officially “limit debt” citing other countries that are doing a better job of it.

But if the U.S. got rid of the only legislative mechanism it currently has to accomplish this, the ratings agency would see it as a good thing.

That’s akin to fearful residents in a community inhabited by a known child molester hoping his LoJack is removed.”

“The Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah is expanding its influence in Latin America with the aid of Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela, according to testimony before the Committee on Homeland Security.

At a July 7 committee meeting, Roger Noriega — former American ambassador to the Organization of American States — said Hezbollah has been establishing alliances with Mexican and other drug cartels.

Noriega told the committee that the Venezuelan government is encouraging Hezbollah activities in several Latin American nations. A key operative in the Hezbollah network, he pointed out, is the second highest ranked diplomat in the Venezuelan embassy in Syria, Ghazi Nassereddine.

Nassereddine, who was born in Lebanon, reportedly manages a network that raises and launders money and trains operatives to expand Hezbollah’s influence in Venezuela and other Latin American countries.

Noriega also noted that an Iranian overseer of Hezbollah is Mohsen Rabbani, who is wanted by Argentinian prosecutors for his role in the 1992 and 1994 terrorist attacks against the Israeli embassy and the Jewish Community Center in Buenos Aires.

“Noriega’s main point seems to be that the presence of Hezbollah in the region has metastasized,” Luis Fleischman observed in The Americas Report, a project of the Center for Security Policy.

“As a result of the support Venezuela, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Bolivia and others are giving to the terrorist organization, a more active role for Hezbollah should be expected in the future.”

Also appearing before the committee was Douglas Farah, senior fellow at the International Assessment and Strategy Center. He said Hezbollah is helping to build tunnels used by drug smugglers along the U.S.-Mexican border.

These tunnels could be used to smuggle terrorists and weapons of mass destruction into the United States, he warned.

Ilan Berman, vice president of the American Foreign Policy Council, told the committee that Hezbollah has established terrorist training camps in Venezuela and is setting up a camp in Mexico to illegally infiltrate operatives into the U.S.

According to Berman, Hezbollah already has a presence in 15 American cities.

Berman said: “Over the past decade, Hezbollah’s regional activities have shown a clear pattern of targeting U.S. interests and assets throughout Latin America.”

Hello All,

This election is proving to be a pivotal point of our time. With the country in such deep financial problems, states beginning to threaten or just plain shut down. We are in a financial crisis. What is this, you may ask? Well, we must first take a look at our infrastructure.

As I have traveled and lived all over the country, I have met many people from all walks of life. It seems that we all face the same problem. What is our Government doing to help protect this great country and its’ citizens? We know the issues at hand….Healthcare, Taxation, Job Growth, Foreign Relations, etc… These issues have and will always be at the forefront when it comes to Politics. The thing is there is a solution.

If we get back to the basics and return to what our country was founded upon, we could solve many of these issues. The problem at hand is that our officials have become jaded over the last few decades. We have gotten away from true politics for the people.

Remember, the Preamble:

“ We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. ”

Let’s look at this! It starts with “We the People”, Now what does that mean….It means exactly that. Perhaps it is for those elected officials….we know that it was written by those founding leaders that wanted to make sure that this country would be sound and for the People that they govern. Well, that is where the problem lays. Have we forgotten who the “People” are? They are you and myself. The citizens of the United States. That means ALL! Not the select few(1%) that have the power to run this country because of money, but all the citizens that have helped by building this great country. Laborers, Small Business owners, Non-Profits…These are some of the core areas we should focus on.

We already know that when Big Business is in the mix…they take over the Mom and Pop(Small Business Firms) which account for:

99.7 percent of all employer firms.

Employ just over half of all private sector employees.

Pay 44 percent of total U.S. private payroll.

Have generated 64 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years.

Hire 40 percent of high tech workers (such as scientists, engineers, and computer programmers).

Are 52 percent home-based and 2 percent franchises

Made up 97.3 percent of all identified exporters and produced 30.2 percent of the known export value in FY 2007.

We need to ensure that we are aiding the businesses in their growth and not just the large corporations and their lobbyist who are sitting in Washington pushing our Congressman on their agendas, because they have the monies to do so.

The most important factor is Religion. This becomes a sticky subject, because there are many who do not want to put that into the equation. When the Preamble speaks of the “Blessing of our Liberty”, then what is a blessing? A Blessing is a special favor, mercy, or benefit: the blessings of liberty. It is also defined as a favor or gift bestowed by God, thereby bringing happiness or the invoking of God’s favor upon a person.This shows that God is a factor. We must get back to our Constitutional Rights! God was at the forefront then and should be, now. What is now , has been before and will be in the future according to the Bible. So, it is up to us to remember our history and be able to reflect upon it to proceed into the future. (You have to know where you came from, in order to know where you are going.)

Well, we are forgetting that as a Nation. Everyone wants to take God out of the scenario. Why? If it had not been for God, where would we be? I know some people do not have that belief, and so the lawmakers want to make everyone happy, but that is not what this country was founded upon, so why would we change that? God is Love. Plain and Simple. We must love one another according to the Bible. Whether they are different or the same…we are all God’s children and if we go back to the simple word..we need to love one another despite their differences. Thou shall not judge, comes to mind, here. If you do not agree with someone, that is okay, but with love, you can pray for them and if it is God’s will…a change will come.

I say all of this, because we are at a crucial time in our lives. The world has changed, but by holding to Faith, All things are possible. Keep the Faith, America and elect those officials that will not stand for nothing less than that! Do not be influenced by the love of money.(The root of all evil) But, influenced by the word as you seek God’s grace and mercy. Before everyone gets too excited about Ron Paul - I would like all of you to please take a look at this last Bill that went throught Congress.

In a remarkable bipartisan show of support for Israel and condemnation of the purveyors of hate within the Gaza and West Bank areas, the U.S. Congress just passed Resolution 268, by a whopping majority of 407 votes “For”, and only 6 “Against.” Another 13 voted “Present” thus taking no stand one way or the other, tantamount to a vote “Against.”

The resolution calls for the suspension of Foreign Aid to Gaza/West Bank Palestinians until they agree to acknowledge Israel and to finally agree to sit at the negotiating table to begin genuine peace talks.

Yes, the U.S. gives foreign aid to Gaza/West Bank Palestinians. It’s not even a country. Depending on what source you subscribe to, and what year (2009 or 2010), they generally rank 7^th on the list, behind Afghanistan, Israel, Iraq, Pakistan, Egypt and Sudan. In 2009, that amounted to almost $1 billion of American tax dollars. Meanwhile, we can all access the internet and watch their mobs in the street scream “Death To America!”

True, the money is designated for humanitarian assistance, but we all know how that actually works. Rarely, does foreign aid in any of these countries end up where it is meant for.

This vote not only shores up support for Israel as an ally and partner in world peace, it sends a powerful message to our president that we, the people of the United States, are not prepared to make unreasonable and disastrous demands upon Israel until the Palestinians show good will in recognizing Israel’s right to exist. President Obama’s recent announcement demanding Israel’s return to the 1967 borders has blown up in his face.

There were a total of 19 congressman who did not vote for the resolution. In other words, these 19 congressmen and women, in my view, basically sided with Hamas. Here are their names:

There are three things that have gone wrong with the American government that has pushed the will of the people out and let other forces take over.

Number one is the rise of the Lobby industry. This is a sugar coated word for bribery. Once our representatives get to Washington, a steady stream of selfish interest groups come through their office with suitcases full of money. They are for sale to the highest bidder.

Number 2 is the committiee system. A state can elect the smartest, brightest, most honest representative on the face of the earth, but if he does not fall in line with the system, his bill will never be voted on.

The third thing is the idea of Junior and Senior congressmen. The federal government is not a uninon where members build up seniority to have privilages. Each representative that is sent to Washaington represents a a soverigh state and is entitled to equal statis with others whether it is their first year or their fiftyth year.

The public is outraged because the will of the people is not being reflectd in the government. But, nothing changes. The reason is because the will of the people is being overidden by the reasons staited. Obama is not afraid of the people because he knows they do not run the country.

To Fix Social Security just return it to the way it was originally designed. Social Security was never designed to be a welfare program. It was originally designed so that only people that paid money in were paid money out of the fund.

The Demos saw that growing pile of money sitting there and figured out a way to buy votes for their party by adding welfare groups to the program. That is why it is in such a mess today. Hard working Americans are intitled to get back what they have put in plus a profit. The Demos have screwed up the system so bad that working Americans will wind up getting back nothing.

To fix Social Security, create a seperate welfare program and put all welfare receipents in that program. Let congress fund that program another way. Give hard working Americans back what belongs to them.

That will stabelize Social Security immediately.

“(CNSNews.com) – Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus repeated his party’s commitment to stronger voter identification laws, saying that the GOP would not give up the fight against voter fraud.

“I think that we need to make it easy to vote, hard to cheat, and I think that that’s a mantra that we ought to shout from the rooftops all over the country as a Party,” Priebus told conservative bloggers on a conference call on Thursday.

Republican National Lawyers Association (RNLA) Chairman David Norcross said that voter fraud issues were very real, despite complaints from liberals that it is largely a phantom problem. Cross cited several cases where states had found thousands of ineligible votes after elections were already over.

“Voter fraud is real, this is not anybody’s imagination,” Norcross said.

“The Milwaukee police department reported some detailed fraud in the 2004 presidential election in Wisconsin. The Colorado Secretary of State found last year that 5,000 non-citizens voted in their Senate race, which was decided by a close margin. And probably all will remember Minnesota in 2008 when more ineligible voters were identified than the margin between the winning and losing Senate candidates.”

Norcross also pushed back against the argument that strict voter I.D. laws depress poor and minority turnout, a claim made famous by Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz (D-Fla.), who said such laws would “literally drag us all the way back to Jim Crow laws,” a reference to the racist segregation-era laws that prevented southern blacks form voting.

“And as for people who don’t have photo I.D., American University Center for Democracy in Election Management found recently that 99 percent of eligible voters posses the proper I.D.,” said Cross. “Really, the purpose for this call is to make sure that we preserve this initiative, keep it going, and that we protect voter I.D. and the rights of legitimate voters,” Cross said.

Representative Todd Rokita (R-Ind.), formerly Indiana Secretary of State, said that after Indiana issued a voter I.D. law, it saw turnout go up, not down, charging that attacks against voter I.D. laws were “the sky is falling” arguments.

“All the ‘sky is falling’ arguments that were made in accusation of what was billed as some kind of draconian, or tyrannical law never came to pass,” said Rokita. “In fact, our voting went up 2 percent as we introduced the photo I.D. law. We attribute that to the confidence that the law inspired in the voting public.”

Democrats are also making more of an issue out of voter I.D. laws, holding a Capitol Hill press conference on Friday to criticize Republican-led states that have strengthened I.D. laws as trying to suppress the minority vote.

“I guess they don’t think that we understand that they’re trying to keep poor people from voting, minorities from voting, the elderly from voting, students from voting, we are not stupid,” Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) told CNSNews.com’s Nicholas Ballasy after the conference.

“We understand that this is by design,” said Fudge, adding that “when you go to every state that a Republican governor, where there’s a Republican governor, they are doing this across this country and we’re just not going to take it.”

Such charges, Norcross said, were nothing but “cynical” attacks against a proven policy – one that has the support of most Americans. .

“But we have seen recently what I suspect many of you have, a cynical and calculated and coordinated effort by the Democrats to spread lies about the reasons for and effect of voter I.D.,” said Norcross.  

“In fact, most Americans support voter I.D. A June 2011 Rasmussen Poll had 75 percent of Americans believing voters should be required to show photo ID. This breaks down into 85 percent of Republicans , 77 percent of Independents, and 63 percent of Democrats.”

“Would being required to show a photo ID at the voting booth prior to casting your ballot deter you from voting? According to some Democrats, yes, it can, and will.  Especially if you are a minority, a senior, a student, or are poor.

But who are the ones Democrats claim are seeking to discourage minorities from voting? Republicans, of course.

Rev. Jessie Jackson and Congresswoman Marcia Fudge along with their supporters claim a “Rovian” conspiracy is underway by the GOP to bar minorities, students, the elderly, and the poor from accessing the ballot box.

During a press conference attended by House Democrats including Sheila Jackson Lee, Fudge said of Republicans:

“I guess they don’t think that we understand that they’re trying to keep poor people from voting, minorities from voting, the elderly from voting, students from voting, we are not stupid,” she told reporters at a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday alongside liberal activist Rev. Jesse Jackson.

“We understand that this is by design — when you go to every state that a Republican governor, where there’s a Republican governor, they are doing this across this country and we’re just not going to take it,” said Fudge.

Currently, there are 16 states that now have laws “requiring” or “requesting” voters to present photo ID prior to casting a ballot, but even that is apparently too many for Democrats, who seem to think no real identification should be required at all.

Jackson went on to explain to CNSNews what types of identifying documents he deems appropriate to show at the polls:

“You can use a utilities ID in some instances, a driver’s license or a Social Security number, a whole range of personal identifications – a phone bill,” Jackson told CNSNews.com.

Isn‘t a driver’s license a photo ID? And, what, exactly is a “utilities ID?” Did Jackson trip himself up a bit, perhaps?

Jackson also believes moving Election Day from Sunday to Tuesday is another “scheme” to quash minorities’ votes.

“Even, for example, moving voting from Tuesday – Sunday back to Tuesday – well, Tuesday’s a day when most people work. That’s always a scheme to suppress the vote and you have higher turnout on the weekends,” he said.

One of Jackson’s supporters even went so far as to suggest showing your photo ID to election judges could invite“ stalkers” into your life, when he told CNSNews that his daughter is “terrified” of showing her ID as it contains her school dorm’s address.

“Terrified?“ Of showing an ID at a voting booth because of the ”stalking-risks?” Surely, he jests. Does his daughter mind presenting her ID before purchasing alcohol at the supermarket, or upon entering a nightclub, or bar? What about when she goes to the movies and tries to get the student-rate ticket? Surely she must show her student ID then…

“Amazing how the Democratic majority Senate hasn’t passed a budget in over two years.  Wait a minute, they haven’t even presented one. 

They just vote down whatever budget comes out of the House and don’t present any alternative to avoid taking tough votes because there are 23 Democratic senators up for re-election in 2012. 

And now suddenly President Obama is very, very anxious to get something big put together and stop kicking the can down the road.  Anyone find that ironic?  I didn’t think so.  We’ve become so used to this since he was inaugurated that it is no surprise to us.

For all the pressure, coaxing, and persuading the GOP to give in to Obama’s demands and let him get re-elected compromise and forget their pledges prior to the 2010 elections, the GOP has hit Obama’s nerve.  I don’t know if anyone has picked up on this, the GOP has known it all along but didn’t know how to exploit it until now, or suddenly the chink in Obama’s armor has been in plain sight all along.

Let’s think about this.  Remember Obamacare?  It really doesn’t start kicking in until 2013…the year after the 2012 elections.  Why didn’t the President and the Democratic Congress write the bill to get Obamacare rolling right off the bat in 2010 and not 2013?  After all, if the legislation was so good that Americans would see the benefits and Democrats would reap the laurels of political gain, where was the confidence of the Democratic party to get Obamacare started right away?

Because it was a bad, bad bill that was going to cause a tremendous amount of damage to the American economy as a whole and would imperil their hold on the presidency and their congressional majorities.  So they wrote the legislation to shield themselves as best they could from the political ramifications of their bad legislation.  Whether President Obama and Democrats in Congress want to face this fact or not, when Obamacare was passed, business hiring became stagnant at best, cutting their work forces because the uncertainty the legislation has created, and have been hoarding capital to shield themselves from the hurricane that will devastate this country’s wealth in a few years.  This could be interpreted as a vote of no confidence in President Obama.  So long as Obamacare is law, it will be this way.  Job hiring is going to remain anemic, unemployment will remain high, and a sizeable portion of people will be miserable and mired in despair.  The GOP presidential nominee will rightly point out to the American people “It doesn’t have to be this way.”

Fast forward to now.  The same thing is happening again.  Obama is all about keeping his presidency.  He and the Democrats know what a crushing disadvantage having the debt ceiling and the economy, with a side salad of Obamacare and other government regulation hindering job creation being the main course for the American people to eat and ponder before voting in 2012.  A short term fix and making this an issue in the 2012 elections is their nightmare scenario.  The only way he can keep the presidency is by the GOP caving, raising the debt ceiling and raising taxes while cutting spending.  He is becoming unnerved at the GOP’s steadfast insistence (let’s hope this lasts) about cutting spending, not raising the debt ceiling and getting our financial house in order.  It all became apparent with Eric Cantor’s offer of a short term solution that would put the debt ceiling issue back on the table next year prior to the 2012 elections and his temper tantrum that followed.

No Grand Bargain:

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the whole ball game of the debt ceiling debate.  The Democrats know that they are going to lose the Senate and will not win back the House.  Their only hope of having any power in the legislative and executive branches after 2012 is for the GOP to give it to them by caving.  They can’t stomach a plan that cuts government because that would imperil their left wing base from showing up in November 2012. 

The MSM is trying their best to aid the Democrats any way they can by framing the GOP as the ones who are willing to take down the country by defaulting.  As Erick Erickson rightly pointed out earlier, people don’t blame Congress for the calamities that fall upon our nation, the lion’s share of the blame always falls on the president. Barack Obama knows this and is engaged in a liar’s poker game for his presidency’s survival.

The GOP would be wise to remember that if there is no deal done and a catastrophe ensues, Barack Obama would put himself in a class by himself.  He would have a presidential legacy of being Herbert Hoover plus Jimmy Carter combined together.  He would have a legacy so infamous that the mere mention of his name would be odious to a vast majority of Americans.

Just as George W. Bush went along with TARP in fear of having a legacy of becoming Herbert Hoover, Barack Obama finds him in the same predicament as President Bush was in 2008.  The GOP has all the cards here minus the media as the Democrats did in 2008.  Either Barack Obama goes along with cutting government spending so that there is a zero net increase in the debt ceiling (69% of Americans agree with the GOP on the debt ceiling issue and spending in a CBS(!) poll) or he validates a portion of Americans who believe that his motive for attaining the presidency was to destroy our country and becomes the American version of Nero. Mark Levin is right.  It is a no win situation for him if the GOP doesn’t cave.

The way I see this playing out is the GOP will pass a reasonable package in the House when something will need to be passed shortly before August 2^nd that cuts spending and has a zero net increase in the debt ceiling and send it up to the Senate for a vote, putting the onus on Harry Reid and Barack Obama to squawk and stomp their feet about how bad this is but in the end, will have to take a vote on this or worse, do something that Harry Reid doesn’t want to do:  Actually offer up a bill of their own which would require vulnerable Democratic Senators who are up for election to take a vote on.  If they vote the GOP bill down without offering any plan of their own, the anger of the American people against Harry Reid and the Democratic Senate will be so great that it could yield a 60 plus majority in the Senate for the GOP in 2012.  If they pass the bill and send it to Obama’s desk…oh boy…now that will be something I will want to see Obama trying to explain his way out of by means of a veto, thus incurring the wrath that the Senate would have had if the bill had been voted down.  If they vote the GOP bill down and take a vote on their bill which will be tax increases, bigger government, and incurring more debt and send to the House, just imagine the squirming of those vulnerable Democratic Senators and Harry Reid.

Finally, whomever the GOP winds up nominating for President, they can start right now by taking their case and the 2012 campaign to the public.

It’s that simple.  We can only hope that the GOP doesn’t go the way of a Mitch McConnell a couple of days ago (he redeemed himself today)  and be persuaded by the MSM and Obama’s game of liar’s poker.

“If President Obama’s decidedly un-presidential explosion at House Majority Leader Eric Cantor during a White House meeting on Wednesday suggests anything, it’s that the stress is getting to the man.  Everything that we’ve ever seen suggests that the president is fairly thin-skinned.  As someone who had virtually everything in his life handed to him—and who made it nearly to the age of fifty living in isolated realms (Hawaii prep schools, Ivy League universities, Chicago Democratic politics) where he’d never have to even speak to, let alone deal seriously with, a genuine conservative—he’s not someone used to dealing with those who disagree with his premises.  This gives the GOP an opening.

Politically, the Democrats still hold more power.  Control of the White House and the Senate ensures that Republicans will not be able to get the sort of genuine reforms—serious changes to entitlements, pro-growth tax reform, broad spending cuts, government reorganization—that will genuinely end the debt crisis.  Even assuming that the president is reelected in 2012, the contours of the 2012 political battlefield make it at least a 50/50 proposition that the Republicans will control the Senate as well come January 3, 2013.  Therefore, there is little political incentive for Republicans to strike a “Grand Bargain” at the present time—especially in light of the fact that one can be certain that, whatever its details, the media will credit such a deal to Obama and use it to kick-start the sort of “shift-to-the-center” narrative that he’ll need in order to win another term.  With these considerations in mind, the correct Republican strategy for the debt ceiling is to play the man, not the ball.

The present debate is plainly one that Obama would rather not be having.  Not only does endless talk about how to reduce spending run counter to his belief in an ever-expanding government, but it’s pretty clear at this point that this president is not really all that interested or suited for the day-to-day business of governing.  His remarkably light schedule, frequent breaks, and general demeanor suggests that the man is someone whose personal energy level is not consistent with that of an active Commander-in-Chief. 

He’s energized by the crowds and the adulation of the campaign trail—not the adult business of managing a republic.  This presents Republicans with a tremendous opportunity: if the president will not agree to the sorts of fundamental reforms that are required to truly end the crisis, then the correct course of action is to wage a war of attrition against the president on a personal level, one designed to besiege him in the White House and then to break him on a psychological level.

Forcing a series of debt limit debates will increase the likelihood of a presidential gaffe, limit the ability of the president to propose policy in other areas, and—as I’ll get to in a moment—likely kick off by forcing a humiliating presidential climb-down from a nonsensical promise to veto any short-term increase in the limit. 

On a strategic level, the goal of all sieges is to fix an opponent in place and to then compel his surrender through a sustained campaign.  The Republican House can do exactly this on the debt limit by calling the president’s self-admitted bluff and passing a series of short-term increases in the debt limit along with bite-sized cuts in government spending. 

There’s absolutely no reason why the House should accept the president’s desire for a debt limit increase that will run through the end of 2012.  The fact that the president is disinterested in having to campaign and govern at the same time is irrelevant to the American people.  

The numbers that we’re speaking about are so large that they’re beyond the capability of most citizens to fully grasp.  If the Congress passes, say, a $500-billion increase in the limit—along with $600 billion or so in spending cuts—does it really seem probable that the president will veto it and then either default on payments on the debt or fail to make Social Security payments? 

Even with the aid of all of the persuasive powers of the media, it is nearly impossible to conceive of how the blame for whatever would happen in the aftermath of such a veto would not fall squarely upon the president.

Indeed, the House Republicans would do well to remember two vital episodes in recent history: the 2008 TARP vote and the final vote on ObamaCare.  The bill that became the latter was not the first choice of many Democrats—it was forced to become so after the election of Scott Brown to the Senate foreclosed the possibility of a second bill making its way through that body.  It became the bill by default.  In the case of TARP, market panic resulted in a bill being forced through the Congress in near-record time with the votes of frightened members who had just rejected more or less the same proposal. 

A House proposal that’s ready to go could, if already passed and either on the president’s desk (assuming cooperation can be forced from the Senate) or in the Senate hopper could become a final bill by default.”
